Hello everyone! Ready for the first plant of the day? Today's plant is the Venus Flytrap!

It's scientific name is Dionaea muscipula, and was first described in 1763. This plant is special because it is carnivorous, meaning it eats other consumers. The venus flytrap is considered a flowering plant because of it's hinged lobes. Right now the venus flytrap's conservation status is vulnerable, as it's native range population has decreased by 93% since 1979.

Jour 12

J'ai un don certain pour faire crever toutes les plantes que j'ai pu avoir. Les seuls végétaux qui ont survécu sont ceux dont mon mari s'occupent : des cactus.

Car il faut bien être aussi coriace qu'un cactus qui n'a pas besoin de trop de lumière ni de trop d'eau pour survivre dans notre foyer. Les cactus nous ressemblent : il ne faut pas se fier à notre apparence et nous ne sommes pas toujours faciles à approcher.

Mais une fois qu'on nous connaît, pas besoin d'entretenir notre amitié à grand renfort d'invitations, de repas ou de sorties. Il suffit de se voir quelques fois dans l'année car nous ne sommes pas des plus envahissants.
