Ieri a cena abbiamo preso le pizze. Che è una cosa che facciamo almeno una volta alla settimana, ma rispetto ai primi giorni che ero qua, alcune cose sono cambiate.

Anzitutto, prima le ordinavamo a domicilio, ora andiamo noi a ritirarle nella pizzeria, perché ci piace uscire a fare quattro passi. In genere andiamo in due, io vado quasi sempre, con una delle ragazze, ieri con Violetta, e le prendiamo per tutti e quatto. Però altre volte succede che le mie compagne di casa siano tutte e tre già in pigiama, e allora vado io da solo, che sto sempre vestito in casa e mi viene più facile uscire.

Ma soprattutto è cambiato il modo in cui le mangiamo. Mi ricordo che all'inizio, quando ero appena arrivato a vivere qua, prendevamo rigorosamente ciascuno la sua pizza, e ognuno mangiava solo la propria dall'inizio alla fine. Adesso, continuiamo a prendere ciascuno a propria, ma le tagliamo a spicchi e ciascuno mangia un po' della sua un po' di quelle degli altri, cioè tutti mangiamo tutte e quattro le pizze.

Ormai senza neanche più bisogno di chiedere, del tipo che Violetta prende direttamente uno spicchio dal mio piatto se lo trova invitante, e io faccio lo stesso nel suo, e stessa cosa con Veronica e Annarita.

Ma questo non è, secondo me, solo un cambiamento secondario, è un po' il segno di come siamo cambiati qua dentro io e le mie coinquiline. Prima eravamo più separati, ora non ci sono quasi più barriere, separazioni, inibizioni, e condividiamo le nostre esperienze, le nostre emozioni, i nostri pensieri, allo stesso modo delle fette di pizza.

Per me vivere questa esperienza è davvero importante, poi tra le coinquiline c'è chi condivide con me le cose più di tutte, ma è in generale questo clima di condivisione generale che per me è una grande traguardo.

I was cleaning out my back room to put in new shelves when I came across up this color xerox in my archives of an illustration by my old friend The Pizz. I met Pizz in the 80s via Robert Williams. For a while Pizz was the guy that drew Rat Fink for Ed "Big Daddy" Roth, and notably added the bandage to Rat Fink's tail. Vinnie Signorelli, who played drums in the Foetus live band for several tours, was a massive fan of Ed "Big Daddy" Roth. Inspired by Vinnie's powerhouse drumming during a Foetus live show in Los Angeles, Pizz drew Vinnie as a fink monster. Vinnie Fink's hot rod is constructed out of drums. I got a color xerox of the illustration, and I assume Vinny has the original. Pizz and I also had a project called Garage Monsters, which released a couple of singles. Sadly The Pizz took his own life on August 30 2015. Before he left us he scrawled the word 'Ozymandias' on the mirror in the room.
