Judgment in Greek is krisis (from krinō, which means etymologically “to separate, to de-cide”). Along with this juridical meaning, there converge in the term both a medical meaning (krisis as the decisive moment in the evolution of an illness, when the doctor must “judge” whether the sick person will die or survive) and a theological one (the Last Judgment: en hemerai kriseōs, “in the day of judgment,” is the admonishment that often recurs in Jesus’s discourse; and in Paul: en hemerai hote krinei, “in the day in which God will judge” [Romans 2:16]). In the narrative of the evangelists the term does not appear. The technical term for the function of the judge here is bēma, the seat or platform on which the one who is to pass judgment sits (the sella curulis of the Roman magistrate). When Pilate rises to pronounce the sentence, he sits on the bēma: “Pilate led Jesus outside and sat on the judge’s bench at a place called The Stone Pavement” (John 19:13); thus in Matthew 27:19: “While he was sitting on the bēma” (this is, when he was exercising his function as judge; the Vulgate translates it as sedente pro tribunali), “his wife sent word to him.” In Acts (18:12) the term means simply “tribunal”: “the Jews made a united attack against Paul and brought him before the tribunal (eis to bēma).” No differently, in Paul, bēma designates by synecdoche the Last Judgment: “For all of us must appear before the bēma of Christ” (2 Corinthians 5:10). God’s judgment is, however, explicitly counterposed to that of humans, who must not pass judgment among themselves: “Why do you pass judgment (ti krineis) on your brother or sister? . . . For we will all stand before the bēma of God” (Romans 14:10).

Lin-Manuel Miranda played Pontius Pilate in Jesus Christ Superstar. He rapped during the Trial scene, including the bit where Pilate counts how many times Jesus was whipped.

Okay, okay. But when you get right down go it, Edmund is just one person. He's not the whole of humanity (or Narnia-anity, as the case may be) - he's just one guy who committed a crime and whose life is therefore forfeit. Aslan takes his place in a direct, one-to-one swap: guilty for innocent. In the process he atones for all sin, but Edmund's the one whose life is being directly saved. The executioner lets him go.
Guys. Edmund is Barabbas.

God wants a real relationship with you!! How can you grow in your faith?
Tumblr media
(all photos above are mine) “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” - John 3:16 (kjv)
Tumblr media
God is Good!! Jesus Christ literally died on the cross, while thinking of you. He never judges you ever. He loves you even when you take His kindness for granted. He gives you strength to push through everyday. He is there for you, even when you don’t feel Him with you. He cares for you when no one else does. He understands you without you even saying anything. He sees the good and how worthy you are, when you don’t. He knows you’re in pain, despite that fake smile you put on. He knows you’re trying extremely hard. He loves you more than anyone ever could. He knows you more than you know yourself. He, our Father created you beautifully. He, the Father gave his only Son for you. He cares and loves you. He, the Lord is good.
Follow His Commands!! God does so much for you and continues to do more. The greatest thing you could do to repay Him, is to follow Him and His commands. Follow in His plan, not your plans. The difference between God’s plan and our plans is that we have backups. God doesn’t have backups for us, He already knows what is right for us. He already knows what is good and bad for us. He knows your true potential, you don’t. His commands will bring you peace. His commands will change your heart for the better. His commands will lead you to the goodness of God. Now, following God’s commands is hard for everyone. I know personally, I struggle everyday with following His commands. I also know that God never said it would be easy following Him. Yet, He is still with me every step of the way in my journey. So, try to remember that He will always be there for you. He will always be cheering you on.
Spend Genuine Time with Him!! God wants you to give Him your heart. He wants your love, your heart, your time. He wants to have a real, deep, connection with you. Overall, He wants a real relationship with you. He wants to be your best friend! Spend time with Him like He’s your best friend. Have fun with Him like an innocent & pure child. Give Him little hauls of what you buy. Show Him your morning/night routine. Tell him about random stuff. Talk to Him like He’s your best friend. Laugh with Him like He’s your best friend. Spend all night on “call” with Him like He’s your best friend. Although, still keep in mind He is your Lord and you still should fear Him.
Why Most People Are Scared to Follow God!! A lot of people are scared to serve God. This is because many don’t want to surrender to Him. They don’t want to give Him their heart, mind, body, etc. It sounds terrifying to a lot of people. It may even sound scary to you reading this. Although, my way of thinking is that He technically already has control over it all. I mean, God did create you and give you your everything. He just gave you a choice for you to surrender or not. He gave you freedom to do whatever. So, if you think about it, the difference is not huge. He gave you everything.
Reminder: Don’t forget to repent because of God’s kindness and that Jesus loves you💗
I love you so much dolls!! Remember that God is always with you and to stay pretty (you already are) 💗🎀✝️
“Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God.” - John 4:7 (kjv)

forgive the brief jesus chris superstar rant but. there is a very important difference between the pharisees being villains and the pharisees being antagonists. they're technically antagonists because they're actively working against the interests of our protagonist, but i don't believe they should ever be played as villains. they're not evil or bad or wrong. they're terrified just like literally everyone else in the show is, and their actions are completely justified. to me that's the entire point of the musical. it's not about christianity; it's about the impact the roman empire's brutal and violent imperialism had on everyone on all levels. including jesus and judas, but also including the pharisees, and even herod and pilate. when a powerful coloniser forces their presence on innocent people they are the only winners. everyone else suffers, even the puppet kings and high priests who look like they're reaping some sort of benefit from it all. that's roman propaganda. the romans kept native rulers like herod and caiaphas in power to maintain the illusion of provincial autonomy, and keep populations appeased and therefore under control. everyone in the show is acting out of fear of the romans. the one roman character we do see (pilate) is acting out of fear of his own emperor. it makes no sense to cast the pharisees as two dimensional Bad Guys, especially when the same productions that do that usually offer a sympathetic portrayal of pilate. it would be so easy to stage and direct a production in a way that makes it obvious that the pharisees are doing what they're doing because they truly have no choice, and not because they're pure evil and want to kill jesus for the sake of it. it's not only an antisemitic trope but also undermines a really important theme of the musical. if you can see the humanity in the violent roman governor installed forcefully on conquered land then you can afford some humanity for the pharisees too. they are victims of pilate and victims of rome just like everyone else

Ecce Homo or Pontius Pilate Presenting Christ to the Crowd
Artist: Jacopo Tintoretto (Venetian, 1519–1594)
Date: 1546-1547
Medium: Oil on Canvas
Collection: São Paulo Museum of Art, São Paulo, Brazil
Ecce Homo
"Ecce Homo" is a Latin phrase meaning "Behold the Man," and it refers to the moment in the Bible where Pontius Pilate presents Jesus, crowned with thorns, to the crowd before his crucifixion, saying these words as a gesture of defiance to the Jewish leaders demanding his execution; essentially asking them to "behold the man" they want crucified; it is a common theme in Christian art, depicting Jesus in a suffering state with the crown of thorns.
John 19:5
So Jesus came out wearing the crown of thorns and the purple robe. Pilate said to them, “Behold the man!”

Today, I’m thankful for being rich. I might not have a million dollars, but I’m much better off than so many and I thank God. I have food in my house, I can afford the heating, I can afford to travel, I live with a husband who loves me, and we have the spare money to spend on the little things that make life fun! So many people pray for the things I have in my life. I thank God for what I have, and I pray for those who don’t. This holiday season, think of others, and try gifting those fun things that you never use. Someone else might be so blessed by the things we just keep around!
