I just wrote this little scene of Orange playing a prank on Diamond and Pearl and kinda sorta wanted to share it. It's in script format, so it's not a fully written scene, but I hope you like it anyway. (Btw, if you haven't read my posted fanfics on AO3, Orange's dialogue looks the way it does because he speaks very quickly so his dialogue is written with slurred and/or missing words/syllables and improper grammar to reflect that, though there's not much of that in this, just letting you know for the times it does show up. Oh, and Diamond and Pearl also call him "O" as a nickname.)
(This takes place during volume 3: "Magnificent Meditite and Really Riolu 1". The beginning lines up until Orange first speaks, as well as the comedy skit, are from the book itself. Everything else was written by me, including the changes to the skit. Hope you enjoy!)
(The kids reach Veilstone City after the traffic jam of Psyduck on Route 210)
Platinum: "The city isn't that big, but they must have at least ONE decent hotel..."
Pearl: "It's a plan, Lady. We'll rehearse our next skit to cheer ourselves up, while you check us in to a hotel!"
Platinum: "All right."
Diamond: "Later!"
Orange: "Make sure t'be safe!"
(Platinum leaves, and Diamond and Pearl prepare to do a comedy skit, of which Orange is the audience for)
Pearl: "Okay O, ready for this one?"
Orange: "Yep! Whatcha got this time, guys?"
Pearl: "Hehe, glad you asked. Ready Dia?"
Diamond: "Yeah!"
Pearl: "SPEAKING OF POKÉMON!"
Diamond: "Speaking of Pokémon..."
Pearl: "Every journey comes with its share of roadblocks, and that flock of Psyduck was no exception!"
Diamond: "You can say that again! Did you notice they all seemed to have headaches?"
(Orange nods his head silently, still watching)
Pearl: "Huh? Really?"
(Orange goes to open his mouth but keeps quiet, remembering this is just a comedy skit and that the truth is that they all know the Psyduck on Route 210 all have headaches)
Diamond: "Sure, Pokémon can get all kinds of aches. Let's see..."
(Orange wonders to himself what the punchline will be, knowing there's one coming up)
Diamond: "They can get a headache, tummy ache, backache, Raticate..."
Pearl: "IDIOT! THAT LAST ONE IS A POKÉMON!!!"
(Orange laughs at the joke and then winces when Pearl smacks Diamond before moving onto the next part of the skit)
Pearl: "When their heads hurt too much, Psyduck unleash their psychic powers."
(Orange nods silently, as he'd known that fact for ages now)
Diamond: "Really? Psychic powers?"
(Diamond grabs a Poké Ball and Orange tilts his head, confused at what his friend is doing)
Diamond: "Ooh, let me try!"
(Orange immediately realizes what Diamond is going to attempt, and gets a mischievous idea)
Diamond: "Nnngh! Come on, Poké Ball - float!"
(Orange uses his telekinesis to make the Poké Ball stay in the air)
Pearl (not amused): "Dia, what the heck are you - WHOA!"
(Pearl and Diamond both look in shock at the floating Poké Ball)
Diamond: "A-am I really doing it?!"
Pearl: "I don't know WHAT'S going on..."
(Pearl then suddenly notices the orange colored glow surrounding the Poké Ball and realizes what's happening)
Pearl: "Oh...that makes sense now." (Turns to Diamond, who's still in shock) "Wait a minute Dia. See that glow? You're forgetting that there's someone RIGHT HERE with us who ACTUALLY has psychic powers! That orange glow means O's the one doing this, it's a prank...and a good one too!"
(Pearl stifles a laugh as Diamond looks at the Poké Ball and sighs in disappointment)
Diamond: "Aww man, I kinda thought that since you whack me in the head so much, I might've developed psychic powers too..."
Pearl (genuinely upset hearing his best friend say that): "That's just part of the act!" (quieter to himself) "Come on...Don't make me look bad..."
(Orange starts laughing hysterically at his prank, breaking his concentration and dropping the Poké Ball. Thunderheart rolls her eyes with a fond smile at her best buddy's antics)
Orange (while laughing): "Oh man! I really REALLY gotcha there!!!! That was awesome!!! Ya shoulda SEEN your faces!!!"
Pearl (also laughing at Orange's prank): "That was actually a good one, O! A REALLY good one! You even had ME fooled for a minute there!"
(Pearl and Orange high-five while still laughing, Diamond meanwhile is not amused)
Diamond: "Seriously...? Why'd you have to do that, O...? I didn't think you had it in you to pull a prank like that!"
Orange (finally calming down from laughing): "Ya were talkin' 'bout psychic powers, I couldn't resist!"
Diamond: "Yeah but that was kinda mean..."
Orange (immediately feeling bad): "Oops...sorry Dia...I didn't mean t' upset ya..."
Pearl (rolling his eyes): "It's your fault for not noticing the orange glow around the ball, Dia..."
Orange (getting anxious from sensing the tension in the air and also because Platinum hasn't come back yet): "M-maybe we should jus' drop it for now an' go find Lady...see if she needs anythin' since it's been a while an' she ain't back yet..."
Diamond: "Oh yeah, good point! Where is she anyway...?"
Pearl: "I don't know, but if she's taking this long, it can't be good...let's go find her!"
Diamond and Orange: "Right!"
(They all run off to search for Platinum, the comedy skit-turned prank instantly sent to the back of their minds, forgotten, as their focus is now on their search for the young lady)
These kids are chaos but I love them all dearly, and I hope you do too. I just got this idea to write this silly little scene because I've been having a tough time mentally lately so I wanted to write something silly to try and lighten my mood. Orange pranking Diamond and Pearl had been in my head for a while now but I didn't know how to write it till now, and even now it's only a script for a future story. This is the first time I'm sharing my writing openly on here, instead of just linking to my posted stories on AO3 like I usually do, I'm nervous about posting this, but if you guys somehow like it...who knows, I might do more small script scenes like this in the future. Also if you like it and haven't checked out my AO3 yet, please feel free to do so, I'm PikaTrainer99 on there as well, same username, same profile pic, everything, it shouldn't be hard to find me. 😅

a non-comprehensive list of annoying things Bakugou Katsuki would do to a put-upon live-in partner:
- pushes you back into your seat any time you try to stand up and is WAYYY too smug when he catches and “saves” you from the peril of his own making.
- walks by and steals your phone/book/bag right out of your hands for no reason (attention).
- never ever EVER forgets when you misuse or mispronounce a word, and repeats it ad nauseam.
- “[pet name] likes me better than you”.
- mimics voices CONSTANTLY. your voice. the neighbor’s voice. your annoying coworker’s voice— he’s got a whole repertoire.
- if you wear glasses… godspeed, because he WILL try them on and make comments abt your prescription (hold strong, he’ll need his own pair by 40)
- (correctly) predicts the ending of 9/10 of the TV shows you watch together.
- sometimes whaps you with a dish towel.
- Windexes a surface IMMEDIATELY after you’re done with it. you will have BARELY moved a hot dish from the oven before he’s swooping down on the microscopic crumbs you’ve left behind.
- for the easily-startled crowd… occasionally he’s gonna exploit that. thinks he’s SO FUNNY for the self-created jump-scare, like he doesn’t have a heart condition himself.
- If it reaches self-appointed bedtime (read: a hot 9:30 PM) and you, in a flight of fancy, are NOT in bed? those eyes are tracking every. single. step that you take.
- only once you slide into bed does he mutter something like “that’s what I thought” (be prepared: whacking him with your pillow WILL incite a wrestling match)

so, I dunno if you typically answer questions like this, as it seems like most of your Asks are related to dissecting the manga, but!
in your opinion, what's the best way to write a post-canon fic without getting wrapped up in keeping it loyal to the still-unfolding story?
for context: i'm writing a (potentially long) post-war-arc fic at the minute, but seeing as how the arc is still ongoing, I'm finding it challenging to not stop and rewrite and every time i learn something new. perhaps this is a stupid problem to have lmao, but you seem so good at untangling the MHA narrative threads, so I guess I'm just curious if you have any tips for folks trying to weave 'em in our own way?
thanks in advance, and thanks for all your hard work in general <3
Aww I love this ask!
So if you think about it, there are plenty of great post-canon fanfics out there that were written without the full context of the series. The lack of information those stories have about the end of MHA does nothing to hurt those fics.
You have several options really. You can commit to adapting your story in future chapters to what may happen in the MHA canon as it goes, but that's a pretty difficult path to take. I started my fanfic based on the assumption we would eventually learn AFO's real name, but now I'm realizing I'm going to have to come up with a solution to the possibility he may have no other name. You could pick a cutoff point in MHA and write a story that doesn't rely on any information that might come later. You could write based on an alternate set of events to fill in the blanks so that your story is canon-adjacent and divergent. In any case, you have to accept the fact that you're writing a story before the source material has ended.
The real question you have to ask yourself is: what does "keeping it loyal" mean to you? I'd advise you to remember that, no matter what, you're not writing something that will be part of the official canon. That gives you a lot of space to move around. If you try to stick too rigidly to the canon when you don't know how MHA ends yet, then ask yourself what your story is even about in the first place. If your story is so up-in-the-air right now that the important beats in it could change at the drop of a hat depending on what happens in the canon, then you don't have a story; you just have an idea. There's nothing wrong with that per se. Plenty of authors write without knowing where their story is going or how it ends yet.
My suspicion though is that's not your problem. I'm guessing that you're just worried about small details or references to events in the canon that may incidentally occur in your story. To the best of your ability I would advise that you don't worry about such things. Just write KNOWING you will do that. It's a feature of fanfic to do so, not a bug. Anyone reading your fanfic will know that.
So now I come back to the question about what does "keeping it loyal" mean? I am writing an AU fanfic. I have to ask myself often what I care about when it comes to "keeping it loyal" because AUs have the potential to diverge so far from the canon material they're practically their own original stories. In this case, "keeping it loyal" to me is about the characters. When I write these characters, are they behaving in the way I would expect them to in the canon? I've chosen major events in my characters' backgrounds to make them behave similarly to how they would in canon because to me, the appeal of an AU is in seeing how my favorite characters would behave in a new environment. By extension, I've also chosen some events to happen in my fanfic that maintain similar themes to the canon. My characters may have to change some from their canon counterparts based on the specific events that happen to them, but there is a core vision of the canon in my heart I always try to come back to.
It's a lot easier to keep that distance between my story and the MHA canon because I'm writing an AU, and that helps me to answer your question because the obvious things my story and the canon have in common are the characters and the story themes. Those two elements would be my answer to you. The line becomes grayer when you're writing a story set in-universe to the canon. My best advice is to not get caught up in those details. It's far more important that you write and get out your ideas. You can always come back and edit things later, EVEN AFTER PUBLISHING. That's the forgiving nature of fanworks. That said, I personally think canon-divergent/alternate canon stories are supremely underrated, so I would embrace the label. It's up to you if you want to do that or just try to adapt to the canon as you go, but IT'S OKAY if your story doesn't completely match up to the canon. It doesn't make your story any less loyal to the source material so long as you maintain that integrity in other ways. No one is reading fanfic because they expect it to be a rehashing of the exact events in MHA anyways. They're expecting something new, something additional, whether it's an embellishment, a soliloquy, or an entirely alternate set of events.
Just write what's good for your story right now, and everything else is incidental.

Alright I had my bad day. On to new and better things! While everything is kind of a dumpster fire right now, we have until at least January to start beefing up the organizations that’ll make it count.
I wouldn’t say I’m the biggest author out there but I know some of you like me, so I’m offering some CHARITY FICS.
Shoot me proof of a donation of $5 or more to the following organizations (or similar ones) and I’ll write you a oneshot of your choice for any of the listed fandoms. The only thing I won’t write is porn or kink and that’s just because I don’t know how any of that stuff works! Anything over $15 I’ll do multi-chapters or totaling over 5K words for more complicated ideas! Hell if you do $50+ I’ll do full rewrites to the best of my ability.
To summarize:
$5+ or non-USD equivalent: One shot of varying length
$15+ or non-USD equivalent: One shot or multi-chapter fic at least 5K words long, probably more.
$50+ or non-USD equivalent: Whatever the hell you want up to 50k or so!
Show proof of donations to the following organizations, or similar ones:
ACLU
Trevor Project
Planned Parenthood
Satanic Temple
Currently I know enough to write about fandoms like BNHA, JJK, Naruto, hell, DSMP or South Park or COD or whatever, probs more; If you have a fandom I haven’t written before or an idea you’re not sure about feel free to HMU to clarify! I’ll be able to write most things, pairings, etc 😉

Well, today was definitely not my best day. I got bogged down under work, and was under the weather, so I only managed to eke out 934 words in a couple of hours at the end of the evening. Still, I'll take it; The Everyday Naturalist manuscript is now at 69,204 words, and I've gotten a good start on the chapter on citizen science. I'm going to rest up this weekend, and focus on getting more writing done next week.

Killua holds the bunny plush closer and buries his nose in Gon’s chest; Gon swallows, and his gaze hardens.
How could they?
“Yo! Gon, we got the…”
Leorio trails off as he sees Killua clinging to Gon and rushes over.
Kurapika’s eyes flash red, and he runs over to them.
“What happened?!”
Gon shakes his head and holds Killua closer to his chest.
“Nothing! Nothing! Killua just needed a little love.”
Kurapika sighs, and Leorio slumps over in relief.

If you had written S3, what would you have had it centered around?
I would have just done Season 1, Volume 2 - a return to episodic adventures with the kids, basically, but with Johanna coming along on more of the adventures - probably including another Kaisa episode, another Bellkeeper episode, and something with the Marra - what I wouldn’t do is do an overarching narrative, include Anders in any way, or anything with Trylla & Baba.
I so like some of the episode ideas in Season 3 on their own, like the Faratok Tree and especially the Young Johanna part of The Fairy Isle. I actually really like the idea of Hilda venturing into a fae realm (including the Victoria stuff) and helping a kid she meets there, but I wouldn’t have tied it into Johanna’s family, or tried to turn it into an explanation for where all the magic in the world comes from. I’d just do it as it’s own thing, a nice adventure (I also want to avoid a repeat of “Hilda goes missing and her friends and family are worried/looking for her” - it’s overdone)
Depending on when that episode takes place in the season, I could see myself amaglamating the fairy girl character with Louise’s role. As in, making her the 4th member of the main group. I feel like that would be neat :))
#ask pika#hilda the series#hilda netflix#hilda season 3 spoilers#hilda season 3#fun fact#this idea of making young Johanna her own character#and having her join the party?#I’m writing that as we speak

Characters: Gadget the Wolf [ they / them ] ; Oath the Ferret [ they / she ] ; Chord the Badger [ xe/xer ] ; Muscle the Pika [ zhe / it / they ]
Warnings: minor, not super described injury; very short moments of fear
Notes: anyone else remember that one really big crab you kick the ass of in forces? Well. What if it was awesome. ; dividers by @rookthornesartistry !!
Words: 3794
It's been half a week since the squad set out, and they're starting to get bored.
The five of them have been patrolling the same small zone around the Resistance HQ for months now, as Gadget and Oath are still early in training, but it's clear that every single one of them is more than tired of the area.
"Chord," Knuckles calls, "I'd like you to do some recon. See if you can find anything
Thankful for the excuse to finally stop sitting down, xe nods, patting xeir wispon to encourage her wisp to go inside.
"I won't go too far," xe teases, waving to xeir teammates as xe looks for some soft ground.
It doesn't take too long for them to find it - a neglected park, full of nice, soft dirt.
Xe takes a moment to appreciate the nature that surrounds xem.
Then, xe focuses.
Xe feels the ground, and finds loose dirt. A significantly wilder animal considered making a burrow here, but thought the better of it.
Better for xem, anyway.
Xe uses xeir wispon to dig deep, then far. Under the concrete, the steel, the foundations of the apartment and office and supermarket buildings.
Searching for vibrations in, under, on the earth.
Boots on the ground. A scraping under dirt. Any pressure on the soil.
Anything.
...And, to xeir horror, xe finds something.
As soon as xe feels it, xe digs back to the surface, rushing back to the group.
Noticing xeir horrified expression, Muscle frowns.
"Everything good, girl?" zhe asks in that too-soft voice of zhers, letting zher drawl escape the cage zhe put it in.
Even if xe can't calm down, Chord appreciates the attempt at comfort.
"A very large group of Badniks is rapidly approaching," xe explains, "And, something else... It-"
Suddenly, xe turns, looking at the horizon.
Shit.
"...It's already here."
It's impossible to miss. The behemoth on the skyline, blotting out the sun.
It crashes through several buildings, using its spikes to break the hardy but neglected concrete.
As it approaches, every member of the squad can see it in its full, ugly glory.
A massive crab-tank, spikes adorning its thick, heavily-armored legs.
Before it breaks the building the group had taken point at, they leap off it, grappling away.
Below them, the swarm of badniks that Chord felt flood the streets, giving no room for rest.
With a thumbs-up to the rest of the squad as he glides past them, Knuckles begins carving a path through the 'bots, giving rest to Oath and Muscle, neither quite used to using the grapple yet.
With the smaller threat being dealt with, xe turns to the greater adversary.
Despite how wild its movement seems, Chord quickly notices a pattern.
It's working on a grid, using its crab design to stick perfectly to it.
It keeps screeching to a halt at the ends of the paths it's taking, turning, then following the grid in the opposite direction, using its massive eyes to search for something.
And there's only one thing Eggman would send this earth-moving behemoth to find, and destroy.
"I believe it's looking for the entrance to the Resistance," Chord finally says over comms, "It's using a grid pattern - Eggman must have mapped out areas he believes the entrance could be."
Not too far from xem, Gadget and Oath look at the sea of badniks, taking temporary refuge near one of the entrances to the greater sewer area.
"It can't..." Gadget says, their voice dying in their throat.
They're the rookie, the baby of the team. Sure, everyone's been training together for months, including them, but...
They're still scared.
They shiver as a gentle hand meets their shoulder.
"It won't," Oath reassures, giving them a determined look, "We got this in the bag, team."
For a moment, it seems almost as if Gadget wants to argue with her. But, they nod, giving her a weak smile.
And so, the rookies set off.
Even as the buildings collapse around them, they simply turn it to their advantage, grappling or leaping off them to avoid the behemoth's attacks.
Though their movements aren't perfectly fluid, the team works well together. Oath uses her new Hover Wispon, with Gadget using their burst to create a slipstream, propelling them both far above the crab's attacks.
Meanwhile, Chord and Muscle practically dance together around the crab, looking for any potential weak points, taking occassional potshots at its metallic shell - and being very, very careful to avoid the massive spikes gracing its legs.
Knuckles sees them, looking up as he destroys the hordes of badniks below, and smiles.
Those months of training are definitely paying off...
Making good use of their positions close to the crab, Chord and Muscle look for any potential weak spots, and keep the crab in place so that the rest of their team don't have it figuratively breathing down their back.
The spikes that adorn the plates on its legs, its built-in defense gifted to it by its creator, are more than large enough to grapple onto without discomfort, but too sharp to land near without risking serious injury.
Getting onto it from the front would be reckless, to say the least, especially without enough height to try and land on one of the smooth patches of its carapace.
But, maybe...
Hatching a plan, Muscle slows down, keeping a tight grip on the grapple as zhe does.
Zhe swings to the other side of the leg, which thankfully isn't as fiercely defended, and lands on it safely.
Yes!
Grinning, zhe takes a look around - seems like Eggman didn't expect anyone to try and get back here.
Especially considering that every bit and bob that makes it tick is on full display, massive spotlights shining from its underbelly.
The only thing stopping zher from breaking it to pieces right now is - well, for one, it's starting to pick up speed again, and zhe'd rather not risk getting crushed. And two...
There's an odd dome surrounding the systems, and zhe has no idea if zher Wispon could break through or not.
Sighing with longing, zhe zips back to Chord, giving xem a thumbs-up and a smile.
Zhe taps a button on zher headset, and is instantly connected to the commline. Something zhe still can't help but be impressed by...
"I saw it!" zhe smiles, then blushes, mortified, as zhe realizes how enthusiastic zhe sounds.
"All its systems, hidden behind some kinda... bubble," zhe continues, "Plastic, I think. Shouldn't be too hard to break through."
"The stomach may be a weak point, then," Chord nods, "It definitely is a lead..."
"One lead.. More than enough," they straighten themself, attempting to project an air of confidence, but they're shaking...
While the others distracted the crab, Gadget had fallen back a bit, sitting on the roof of one of the only apartment buildings that hasn't yet been destroyed.
Mostly out of cowardace, they have to admit, but right now their position gave them a massive advantage. One they had to make use of now.
They step on the edge of the rooftop, looking below as the crab approaches them.
They only get one shot at this.
"Time to follow it."
Ignoring the shouts from their teammates, Gadget jumps off the building, grapples one of the crab-tank's head spikes, and uses the momentum to swing below it.
Underneath it looks far different, and the wolf can't help but laugh as they look above them - Muscle was right. The underbelly only has a single, thin layer of plastic protecting its most vulnerable systems.
With ease, they use the fire from their Wispon to melt it, even managing to catch some important-looking systems in the blast. Though, not without some retaliation...
Whatever they hit screeches as it melts, and they have to cover their ears to not be overpowered by the sound - unfortunate, considering they need to hang on to their grapple at the same time.
They fall away from the crab-tank, managing to slow their descent by grappling onto the windowsill of a crumbling building before they crash.
As they check themself for a concussion, the crab-tank itself begins to scream. It clearly isn't used to the pain...
"Good, great, spectacular!!!" Oath suddenly yells into the comms, blasting Gadget's already sensitive ears with more noise.
"Lucky hit," Gadget grumbles, holding the comm away from their ear, "Not safe to try again. Need a new plan."
"Incredible, show-stopping, MAGNIFICO!!!"
They can practically hear the flowers hitting the mic...
"I noticed something..." Chord pipes up, and Oath and Muscle calm down enough to let xem speak, "This crab-tank's eyes do not reach around it fully. Its blind spots are, to put it simply, enormous."
"So if someone distracts well enough..."
"It would not know what hit it," Chord smiles, "I believe just one of us would be enough to lead it away."
"Leave it to me! As in, I got it!" Oath shouts, excited again, "Don't worry, Muscle and Chord, you'll get a spot in the action soon enough!"
And with that, she swings away, the comm going silent except for the sound of wind and the crab-tank's creaking legs.
Sighing, Gadget dusts themself off and attempts to find higher ground again.
Their strategy worked once, they trust it could work again.
Using Gadget's earlier idea of grabbing onto the tank's head spikes, she grapples onto it, landing on its head before it can guess what's happening.
Looking around, she vaguely - worriedly - notices how little damage has been done to it. Hitting it directly on the head won't work at all, huh...
Absolutely sure the others know this, she resumes her plan, tying her grapple tightly around the plating that jutts off the front of its head.
Then, she takes a flying leap!
She swings around it, leading it like she's a carrot on a stick, making sure to get all of its eyes on her - and yelps a bit as it rushes sideways, trying to... attack her? Knock her off?
Whatever dumb plan it's trying to accomplish, it won't work - her tie's too tight, and she's way too good at dodging all the dust it's kicking up.
Using its one-track mind to her advantage, she starts leading it away from the few buildings it forgot to demolish, taunting it with rude gestures as she does.

On the ground, Chord and Muscle join the squad's leader in fighting the Badniks... At least until it's their time to return to the true fight taking place above them.
"I cannot help but notice how well this tank was built," Chord notes, zapping a badnik drone to bits, "It must have been meant for a stronger opposition..."
"I can't help but notice we haven't even tried a direct attack yet," Muscle yells, "Just smaking it a little isn't near enough to figuring out how durable it actually is. For all we know its hide's as flimsy and weak as the rest of the bots down here - we just need a good enough opening to whack it proper."
Chord shrugs, and Muscle sighs.
"We're not the A-Team yet, but we're tough," zhe points out, "Gimme one good shot at the thing and I'll have it down, I swear."
Chord raises an eyebrow.
"And you could put it down in half my time," zhe praises, grinning.
Unable to raise xeir brow any higher, Chord caves in and returns the grin, giggling a little.
"Good luck," xe calls, giving zher xeir blessing as zhe rushes to find higher ground.
Giving xem a thumbs-up, Muscle disappears into a cloud of dust, and Chord fights on alone.

Seems like broken buildings are better for more than cool backdrops...
Muscle crouches on a broken office chair sitting atop the pile of rubble that was once a thriving office building.
Good riddance, zhe thinks, looks prettier as a pile of dust than it ever was back then.
Even as zhe doesn't allow zherself to get distracted, zhe lets zherself bask in the pleasure that comes with knowing this building cannot be saved or salvaged...
But this war absolutely can.
The crab's finally gotten close enough.
With a whoop! zhe jumps off the building, grappling onto the side-spikes and pulling zherself onto its shell.
It feels even bigger to her, now that zhe's on top of it...
Not intimidated in the slightest, zhe raises zher Wispon, its edge sharper than ever-
And slams it down!
The sheer force that zhe hit it with shakes zher entire body, rattling zher up more than zhe's used to.
Once zhe stops shaking enough to see again, though, zhe notices...
There's no damage.
Zhe didn't even leave a dent.
Before zhe can recover any further, though, the crab notices the parasite that's landed on it...
And flicks it off its carapace.
Below - ahead - above zher, Chord shrieks--a gutteral, piercing thing.
Xe rushes to the impact site, using xeir wispon to zip over before the badniks or crab can.
Not having needed their comms to hear the sound, xeir teammates turn to her.
Oath and Gadget are too far away to help without compromising their position, now the only ones with any high ground to speak of.
This is it.
It has to be. There won't be another chance for a good while...
Through the chaos, the confusion, and the sudden split in teams, Gadget approaches the tank.
The flow of badniks is thin enough, the crab's focuse split enough, they can do this-
Before they can get too far, someone grabs their arm, nearly tearing it out of the socket.
Turning wildly, they calm when they see it's just Oath, having caught up with them at some point.
Barely any calmer, though, considering how pissed she looks.
"Gadget," Oath hisses, "Muscle's hurt. We need to go help."
She doesn't know their plan. That's fine, but they need to-
"Tell me why you're leaving them behind!"
Her voice hurts. Their ears lay flat on their head as they turn back to her.
"Can't fight you," they say, though their voice breaks, "It's time-"
"If you're not going to help them, I will," she growls, "Friends don't leave friends behind."
Wait, no.
No, no, no-
They need her help. They can't do this alone.
Before she can grapple away, they breathe in, and scream,
"OATH!"
Shocked, she turns around to face them.
"Please," they beg, lowing their voice nearly to a whisper, "Need to lead it away. Before it can..."
...Oh.
Of course.
With an apologetic smile, and a soft nod, she walks back to Gadget.
"Just tell me what to do."
They smile, eyes shining as their heart feels like it's about to explode with joy and relief.
They hold out their hand...
And Oath takes it, gripping tight.
Rushing toward the battlefield, they keep their hold on each other.
Propelling forward with their slipstream strategy, they match - no, exceed - the crab's speed, rushing to its side, in perfect view of its massive camera-eyes.
With a whistle and a wave, Oath grabs the crab's attention, and it uses its newfound voice to roar with anger at the specks of dust that just won't leave it alone.
Laughing a bit maniacally, Oath and Gadget fall from the buildings they were grappling from, using Oath's wispon to land, gracefully, onto the asphalt road.
And so, they race, past each crumbling building, every broken market, every entrance to the Resistance buried under rubble.
They run, following the path the crab-tank had torn through city and countryside in its attempt at destruction.
A path they can use as an arena...
Behind them, the crab-tank screams, utterly enraged. It pounds at the ground with its pincers, sending rocks and dust flying - and kicking up boulders as it does.
A new trick, for sure, but not one to get anxious about.
Even without the slipstream, the two could easily dodge the rocks being thrown at them, and they can't help but feel like their sheer speed is a bit overkill compared to the crab's fumbling.
Despite clearly not having a brain (or at least, not any smarts), the crab-tank recognizes it's being played with.
If it wasn't angry then, it's definitely angry now...
Exceeding what was thought to be its maximum speed in an attempt to reach them, it begins to steam, plumes of smoke following it like a cape.
It's catching up to them...
They've got a plan, but even so, a pang of uncertainty shoots through their shared heartbeat.
But even with the uncertainty, Gadget's heart is full of hope.
They turn to their friend, offering the hook of their grapple. Looking so serious, so determined, that she can't help but giggle.
Nodding, she ties her grapple to theirs, and they seperate.
Grinning, they turn, running backwards and sticking their tongues out at the adversary above them.
Once its acceleration begins to peak, the two shoot themselves upward and forward, sending themselves flying -
And behind them, the grotesque behemoth of a crab trips.
The sheer force it's sent flying at causes it to roll into a ball, unable to stop itself as it kicks up massive plumes of dust and sand.
With the smoke, rock-dust and debries in the air, it's impossible for either of them to see much of anything at all.
But, they both wonder, hesitantly, excitedly...
Is that it...?
The two find each other quickly, using their wispons as beacons. But the light emitted from them is too weak to pierce that far into the thick mist...
Once together again, they acknowledge each other with just a look, then break into a brisk run, searching for the crab.
After so much silence, the tension becomes uncomfortable heavy,
They turn toward each other, their faces mirroring each other's anxieties... and hopes.
Once they approach the crab, though, Gadget laughs in relief, and Oath sighs incredulously.
The tank fell on its back, spikes jutting into the hard ground.
Its legs flail, useless, above it.
It's completely stuck.
"So much for that..." Oath grimaces, resting her chin on her fist, "Seems like that Dr. Eggman guy really isn't even half of what he's cracked up to be."
Gadget can't response directly, shaking with laughter so hard they can't do anything but grip their stomach, but they make an effort - by shrieking with laughter, instead.
She gives an affectionate smile to the wolf, leaning against them as they continue laughing.
As she rests against them, though, her ear flicks - she hears someone coming.
She turns around, suspicious, but her shoulders fall with relief as she sees the rest of the squad approaching - including Muscle.
Zhe looks...
Well, more than a little beat up.
But alive.
Zher eyes twinkle as Oath rushes up to them, yelling with excitement - and Gadget scrambles to catch up, not wanting to miss out on the reunion.
"MUSCLE!!!" Oath cries, overjoyed, as she finally manages to reach the squad, gently wrapping her arms around her friend - a gesture immediately reciprocated, much to her joy.
"Crab-tank disabled. Not destroyed," Gadget explains, looking warily over their shoulder at its twitching limbs.
"You're going to be the one to break it, right?" Oath grins at Muscle, bouncing on her toes and wagging her tail, "Dish up some good old-fashioned revenge?"
"Nah."
Shocked, Oath stills.
"The spotlight's on you, kid. And you too, Gadget. I wouldn't take it away from you, now," zhe sighs, eyes soft, "But..."
Zhe twirls zher wispon, then hands it to Oath.
"My friend here would love to help you two out, if you'd have her."
Starstruck, Oath stares at the wispon in front of her, her tail wagging so hard it might sprain.
Muscle seems pleased with zherself - this is clearly the effect zhe was hoping for.
"I'd love to," she smiles, gently picking the wispon up out of Muscle's hands, then turns around towards the crab, "I'll make both of you proud, I swear!"
With that, she runs off, yelling for Gadget - who hadn't managed a word in edgewise - to race her there.
The crab's innards are big enough to run through, and both of them take full advantage of this fact, racing through the 'corridors' of its circuitry on a path of destruction.
Oath opens access to one of the more sensitive systems, Gadget weakens them with their burst, and then both crash into the weakened component.
With the adrenaline from earlier, and the rush of their destructive rampage, the two barely notice when the crab begins to overheat.
"IT'S GONNA BLOW-!"
Too panicked to remember to run, it's Gadget who steps up, grabbing her by the waist and running from the wreck.
Scrambling out of the crevice they were evicerating, they making a mad dash for anywhere that isn't where they are in the moment.
They run to the edge of its damaged underbelly, taking a flying leap off it, just as-
The tank explodes.
Tripping over a rock, they act as a meat-shield for Oath, keeping her safe from the debris and shrapnel and using their arm to cushion her against the hard ground.
Slowly, the adrenaline leaves, reminding Gadget that they are alive. Oath is in their arms, uninjured, safe. She is alive.
Once the smoke clears, and as Gadget worries about Oath and them getting lung problems with all the crap they've been breathing in recently, the wolf pokes their head up, looking at the scene.
The rest of their squad is, thankfully, unharmed. They were standing a good distance away from the crab when it self-destructed - and, as such, have no idea about Gadget's panic.
Good.
Knuckles cheers, Chord gives a thumbs-up. Muscle, even with zher injuries, hoots and hollers in joy.
Good.
Just as Gadget raises their arm to wave to them, however, they see...
Something.
A glint of light, amplified by the edge of their glasses.
They stand up, help Oath get up, and then head over to this mysterious object.
It lays, light refracting from it, in a pile of dust in the crater left by the crab-tank.
Gadget sees it.
They know it.
Green and glittering, even as covered in dust as it is.
It's unmistakable.
As they slide down the crater, they notice an odd color mixed in with the red.
Curious, Gadget hops over to it, reaching down, picking it up and gently wiping the dust off with the soft insides of their sleeves.
Then, they frown.
A long, dark crack goes down the length of the Chaos Emerald.
And, from it, the cracks grow new crystals.
Pink-red-black.
Humming with energy.
They turn to Oath, brow furrowed, and she returns the sentiment.
"That's no good..."

I took it as a sign, the dreams came first -
A black bunny at my door
One week later,
The first rabbit I had seen in years,
A small shadow with tall ears sat waiting
In the driveway when I got home
And he was there every day
Until Winter came and I lost him
If the universe was trying to tell me something,
I never understood
But if it was strictly coincidence
Then I refuse to believe it

Pika's Bio
A long time ago...a girl was living her life like normal. She grew up, became her own person, and figured out who she was. Even then...she still wasn’t truly happy. She wanted to start her life anew. Legend told of a shrine high in the mountains. Anyone that sacrifices themself there will be reincarnated as another person in the next life. This girl decided that’s what she needed to do. She hiked up there with no notice to anyone and proceeded with the ritual. Deep in her subconsciousness, a stalemate occurred. When the ritual was complete and her soul had left her body, it had split in two and the halves went off to another world. This is where their story begins...
Pika Blue:
Pika grew up in the Kalos region in the small town of Vaniville. Pika became her nickname for her love of the popular Pikachu, but she doesn’t ever talk about her real name. Around a year before Annie and Ash came to Kalos, at 15 years old, Pika was ready to go on her journey to become a Pokémon Champion. She was going to a few years before but wasn’t looked upon kindly by her peers for her passion for Pikachu. Her mother supported her decision not to go on her journey and decided to help educate her about the world by getting her a bunch of books and resources. She gave it time, read up, and mentally prepared herself. When Pika was almost ready to leave for her journey with her new partner Froakie, her mom gave her a send-off gift. It was a yellow outfit with a tail and ear accessories inspired by Pikachu as well as a hat with special holes for the ears to stick out of. She wasn’t alone in her endeavor, though. Her next-door neighbor and new friend Calem had moved to Kalos sometime before Pika left on her journey. Being the same age and not Trainers yet, they decided to pursue their goals on their paths as friendly rivals.
Throughout her journey, she did the common objective of going to all the Gyms in each city, collecting badges by beating all the Gym Leaders, and putting together a Pokémon team along the way. She also encountered a terrorist organization called Team Flare, taking down their units. Their main objective was to capture the legendary Xerneas and Yveltal to use their powers for their gains. While traveling around, she had heard stories of a Legendary Pokémon lending their power to a certain person who would become a protector of the Pokémon world. She used her bookworm skills to read into the history of these Pokémon to find out more about this mysterious power. It intrigued her, but at the same time, she did not want Team Flare to possess it for their plans. She realized she needed to find a way to stop them.
Later on, she found an opening. She had come across Team Flare's main hideout and decided to initiate an infiltration mission. After fighting her way down to the deepest depths, she found a dormant Xerneas hooked up to a machine in the basement area. Luckily, no other member was in the large room, so she took the chance to try to free Xerneas from the machine. Upon Pika’s approach, it had awakened. With her Pokémon’s help, they managed to break it out. Xerneas spoke to her saying they were grateful for the help, and saw that Pika was the person they were waiting for. However, before they were to give their power, they asked that Pika prove her worth with a battle. Pika agreed saying there was no time to waste, and sent one of her Pokémon out as an initiation. The two battled, and while Pika struggled to get good damage in, Xerneas stopped soon after, saying it saw all it needed to know. Pika retrieved her Pokémon, readying herself for Xerneas as it started to transfer its power.
However, in the middle of this process, the leader of Team Flare stormed in and intervened. He had the legendary Yveltal under his control and commanded it to stop them by releasing a large, dark red beam. Pika, feeling the adrenaline and jump in strength from her new powers, immediately had the instinct to rush herself in front of Xerneas to protect it. The beam struck Pika, and it changed her originally planned angel wings to demonic ones. A scream emanated from her lips as she was forced through such a painful transition before falling to the ground with little to no strength left.
Outside of the room, Calem had heard all the commotion, went inside to see what was going on, and found Pika in her weakened state as well as the large wings sticking out of her shoulder blades. Towering over her was the leader of Team Flare and the hijacked Yveltal. Xerneas was kneeling beside her in an attempt to shield her. Calem hurried to Pika’s side and propped her on his shoulder in an attempt to keep her conscious. With some regained strength thanks to Calem’s encouragement, Pika readied herself to stand up to Lysandre. Suddenly, a bright glow enveloped her, shocking everyone in the room. She felt her body change into a different shape and length. When the glow faded away, Pika was revealed to have transformed into a Pokémon species. Xerneas called over to Pika saying they’ll take care of Yveltal while she battles Lysandre. Calem added that he would be her backup in case she lost her strength too early. Pika nodded and stood her ground. Their battles succeeded, as Pika—though rustily—took out all of Lysandre’s Pokémon, transforming back when her strength had depleted while Xerneas weakened the Yveltal, freeing it from Lysandre’s control.
Lysandre retreated, allowing Pika to save and catch both legendary Pokémon. Soon, she and Calem felt rumbling and realized the hideout was going to collapse on them. With Pika being so weak from the battle, she left Calem with no choice but to carry her out. After they made it outside and gained some distance, the force of an explosion launched Calem off his feet, dropping Pika onto the ground. Luckily, the two only suffered minor injuries from it. When he hurried over to check on her, her body shook and she threw herself into his arms.
Due to Pika’s sudden situation, Calem took her into the nearest cave to hide her presence and rest. They got themselves patched up, and thanks to Pika’s surplus supply of food and water she prepared beforehand, they managed to satisfy everyone’s needs for the rest of the day. While they were eating, Calem brought up the subject of what happened while she was in the hideout. She hesitated before telling him everything she knew before he showed up. Trembling, she spoke of the pain she felt when Yveltal’s power struck her, changing the appearance of her wings. Calem watched in awe, as he had never seen her so vulnerable before. Every time they encountered each other, she had given him the impression of her being very confident, strong-willed, and ready to take on anything. But seeing her act so different just made him feel bad for her. He moved closer to her and reassured her that he was there for her if she ever needed help figuring things out. She smiled and thanked him for keeping her safe.
The next morning, things had calmed down a bit, so she and Calem were able to take their leave from the cave. The two consulted both Xerneas and Yveltal on what happened to her and the power she was given. They told them Pika was mainly given the ability to become any kind of Pokémon she wanted and use any moves, no matter which form she took. And just as suspected, it was due to the negative aspect of Yveltal’s move that changed the appearance of her wings. Pika added she has been able to feel her Pikachu ears and tail as if they were appendages. Confused, Xerneas replied it was possibly a part of the process when she obtained her power. As Pika and Calem looked at each other in astonishment, the Pokémon both warned them to lay low with it and have her hide her wings away so as to not draw attention. She reluctantly agreed but requested they help understand her power in better circumstances.
Before Pika and Calem parted ways to continue their journey, she hugged him, thanking him once more for helping her out. He smiled and wished her luck. Not long after, Pika had overcome her last few obstacles and beat the Champion of the Kalos region, Diantha. Her name and team were entered into the Hall of Fame and she took over the title of Champion herself, meaning she can battle challengers and try to defend her title.
After her journey was over, being now 16, she decided to settle down and move into an apartment in the heart of the Kalos region, Lumiose City. She also made plans for a new training regimen to get a handle on her powers. A few weeks into this new life, Calem came to visit her after finding out what she had accomplished. He told her he had beaten the Elite Four a while after she did, and challenged her to a battle for the title of Champion. Pika accepted, happy to battle her rival and close friend once again. Their battle was long and intense. Pika could tell he had gotten a lot stronger since they last saw each other, possibly because of Calem wanting to catch up to her. In the end, Pika won when they each had one Pokémon left. Exhausted, they both took a rest and shared a meal with their Pokémon. It was then that Calem declared he wanted to work with her to get even stronger and help her control her new powers. Pika knew she could trust Calem, so she happily agreed.
Calem’s support helped her focus on getting stronger, both in Pokémon battles and with her power. But as she spent more time with him, strong feelings emerged. She even felt them during the time Calem helped her at Team Flare’s hideout and in the cave. It took her a few more training sessions to realize...she was in love with him. At the next session, she decided she was going to follow her gut and ask him out. She brought up a wager to change things up. If she won, she would take him out. With a chuckle, Calem responded, “If you wanted to ask me on a date, why didn’t you just say so?” He decided to change the wager. Whoever won got to choose what they did for the date. In the end, Calem won their one-on-one battle and he chose for the two to just take a stroll around Lumiose for the rest of the day. The two walked around the city, went into shops, ate at a food stand at one of the plazas, and just chatted the whole time about different subjects, wanting to know each other more.
At sunset, Calem was about to escort her back to her apartment when they heard the roar of a Pokémon followed by multiple screams of people. When the two hurried over, they saw a Garchomp rampaging, firing attacks at people left and right before jumping up to the top of the tower in the middle of the city. They joined the crowd as they watched the Pokémon unleash attacks from above. Pika looked over to Calem, begging to try something of her power to help. Calem countered, saying he didn’t want her to risk exposing her power to others yet. Hesitant to do anything, she stayed where she was and held his hand. However, they heard the voice of a boy and girl near them going after the Garchomp. Looking at who the voices were coming from, Pika noticed a girl similar to her, both in appearance and age: long, brown hair, a hat like Pika’s, and white wings. The boy, also looking similar in age, had short, black spiky hair, and was wearing a red hat and blue shirt plus pants similar to Calem’s. The duo were accompanied by two Pikachu—one for each—as well as a Froakie. The girl was flying after the Garchomp in the sky with her Pikachu in her arms, while the boy, his Pikachu, and the Froakie followed on foot.
Analyzing the girl gave Pika a huge sense of familiarity, and she pointed them out to Calem. The two watched as the girl landed on the tower and tried to tame the Garchomp, the boy joining her soon after. However, it kept firing at the other duo, and Pika and Calem tensed up, not knowing how the situation was going to end. Soon, the Garchomp was about to fall over the edge but was stopped in place. Yet immediately after, the ground below one of the Pikachu crumbled and he fell off the tower. The boy jumped down to catch him, also falling, which made Pika and Calem gasp. Pika was about to ask again when she saw the other girl fly down after them in an attempt to catch them. The girl caught up to them and managed to grab a hold of them, though she had a hard time stopping the velocity of their falls. They were then scooped up by something else and brought to the ground. Pika and Calem only caught a slight glimpse of it being a bipedal Pokémon before it leaped away. They both sighed in relief when they saw that the other duo made it to the ground safely, and it gave them the chance to look at them more closely. Pika was not imagining it when she saw that the other girl looked just like her. She even felt like the girl’s outfit was kind of admirable. However, the crowd quickly surrounded the new heroes, and news reporters came to them asking questions. It was then that Pika and Calem decided to leave the area.
Calem escorted Pika back to her apartment with her showing him the way. Once the two got back, they exchanged goodnights and Pika told him she had a fun date. Calem responded by slightly leaning down to her height and planting a kiss on her cheek. She reciprocated her feelings by kissing Calem’s cheek back. However, it didn’t end there. The two found themselves leaning their heads in toward each other until they felt the other’s warm lips. Once connected, they could hardly stop. They melted into it, and embraced the other in their gentle, yet passionate kiss, as if they both held these feelings for each other for a long time and were letting it all spill out. They wanted to keep going, but not outside the apartment, so Pika invited him in. Once inside, they took their make-out session to her couch. They sat very close to each other, took off their hats, then leaned in again. Their next kiss was deeper and more passionate. They held each other close as they made out for a while, but eventually had to break for air. They looked into each other’s eyes intently, before Pika confessed her love for him. With a smile on his face, Calem responded that he was in love with her. The two embraced, happy with the mutual acceptance of their feelings. After one more brief kiss, they cuddled on Pika’s couch and fell asleep through the night.
Time went on, and the two formed a routine since becoming a couple. Since Calem didn’t necessarily have a place of his own, Pika offered to have him stay with her. She knew him enough to where she could trust him with her life. They would leave the apartment and train, share meals, and often go on date nights before snuggling together in Pika’s bed. Their relationship was a very wholesome and romantic type of love. She was very happy to love someone like him.
Sadly, their relationship only lasted several months. Calem had big dreams of wanting to travel around the world, to see more of it and become stronger. Pika, however, was very anxious about doing such a thing and wanted to stay in Kalos. Her responsibilities made her feel like she couldn’t just leave and travel somewhere else, especially with her title of Kalos Champion. Calem still loved her, but he felt like the long-distance relationship wouldn’t work, and he most likely would not be able to contact her back and forth often. Pika pleaded with Calem that she could try to make it work, but she couldn’t argue against his reasoning. She started to cry, as she was scared of losing the one person she’s ever loved. Calem held her and told her he would someday come back and maybe get together with her again. She reluctantly nodded and told him she couldn’t wait for the day she could see him again.
Poor Pika didn’t last well without Calem around. She felt a huge gap in her heart from how much she missed him, and it landed her in a depression. She had a few other relationships with guys who liked her, but they all dumped her in the end. These struggles affected her daily training, as she couldn’t get herself motivated to improve most of the time.
In one training session, Xerneas and Yveltal had a vision as seen from the power ingrained into Pika’s wings. The vision showed Pika standing beside another girl looking like her with angel wings. They also heard a voice speaking to them like it was narrating the vision. The voice introduced itself as the legendary Arceus, the god of their world. With the girls in the vision, Arceus spoke these words, “These two girls are specially linked, both in the past and future. Their links are not by blood, but by soul. Specifically, they’re each one half.” The vision transitioned into the girls turning into orbs of light and the orbs merge then transform into a silhouette of a girl with long hair. “A girl from another world made this soul split and the halves reborn into these two girls, possibly from reincarnation.” Under the silhouette, Pika and the other girl show up again, back to back. “They were each born with certain purposes and destinies, which will be intertwined time and time again. They both possess the same power, bestowed by me to specific Pokémon. The two of you were chosen to grant the girl you watch over her power, and you have fulfilled it. The other girl’s side of her destiny began years ago, and the wheel of fate turns. The next stop is the two girls' meeting, for it will help build a foundation of what’s yet to come. However, the other girl is not aware of this. Only the one you know has been put in charge of making ends meet. I am leaving it to you to guide her in fulfilling this destiny. I have the utmost confidence that things will go well between them,” Arceus explained. The vision then faded with Xerneas and Yveltal sent back to reality. The two deliberated among themselves on how to bring up this news as Pika was training with Lucario and Greninja.
While Pika was on a break, they came to her and told her they needed to inform her of something important. She listened as they told her about the vision, confusion soon appearing on her face. After some intense thinking, she had a realization. She may have seen her before, during that date with Calem. She described to them what she saw of her appearance. They confirmed that is what she looks like. Pika had a slight feeling back then, but now it was even bigger, she knew she had to meet her and find out what her deal was. She asked Xerneas and Yveltal if they got her name. They shook their heads, saying Arceus did not mention such a thing. She then asked what the best approach is. They told her she should find where she was, and observe her to first get her name and the best time to introduce herself. They offered help with pinning down her location to not waste time finding her. It took a day of gathering information, but they were able to figure out the last city she was active in and used that to narrow down where to look. Pika decided to wait until the next day to approach the girl, to mentally prepare herself and compile a plan. She didn't get much sleep that night. The next morning, she put together her last-minute ideas and used the morning to pinpoint her exact location that day.
Pika finally came across the girl a few hours later, in a forested route between cities. She was able to recognize her due to her appearance, her large, white wings, and her Pikachu at her side. Pika also recognized the boy she saw with her, and his Pikachu as well. Pika did not feel it was right to just barge in, so she stayed out of sight and observed. She found out the girl was called Annie and the boy was called Ash. She watched the two and observed their auras. Both had very positive and energetic auras, containing similarities as they had heavily influenced one another. She had the feeling when she first saw them, but this current interaction showed the two being extremely close. Their emotions that emerged as the two interacted were similar to how people are when in love. The two were alone, talking about topics that mainly pertained to them while gathering ingredients from their current environment. Pika watched as the two kissed, and she followed as they moved to another location. She saw them approaching a little campsite, where three other people were. She recognized one of them as the gym leader in the city she lives in, as well as his little sister. There was one other girl in the group. She had short, light brown hair, a pink hat, and a dress with multiple pieces of pink, red, and black fabric, adorned with a blue bow. She watched as the group was preparing a meal, most likely lunch due to the time of the day. Pika grew hungry watching them, but fortunate for her, she brought her lunch, a sushi bento box. She quietly got it out and started eating while the group was working on their meal. She watched as the group interacted and talked about different subjects, staying as quiet as possible. She also observed their emotions as they spoke. She noticed their feelings towards one another, mainly Annie’s towards Ash, and his towards her. But she also noticed the short-haired girl with them also had similar feelings toward Ash. Pika had an odd feeling about it, but nothing to make conclusions out of.
Pika waited until they were nearly done with their mealtime, then made her move. She emerged from her hiding spot and approached the group. Annie was the first to notice Pika, and she looked over at her cautiously. Ash was the next to notice, then the rest followed. At that point, Pika was starting to get nervous. She knew meeting this girl was to be a big deal, but she was starting to draw a blank on everything she had rehearsed. She clenched her fist to get ahold of herself. The group was watching her, wondering what she was going to say. Pika was able to unclench her fist, and she pointed at the other winged girl. She managed to get out the words, “Your name is Annie…right?” Annie cautiously nodded. Upon hearing that, a smirk formed on Pika’s face. She declared that she challenges her to a battle. Annie’s head tilted, and with a shrug, she said she’d be fine with a Pokémon battle. Pika held her finger out, shaking her head. She told Annie it wasn’t that kind of battle. She said their condition was they battled each other in their Pokémon forms. Annie looked at her in shock, and a loud “What?!” came from Ash. Annie cautiously asked her how she knew about it, and if she does have such capabilities. Pika stood in silence and closed her eyes as the bright light surrounded her, enveloping her body as she changed forms. The Pokémon she transformed into was a blue and white four-legged Pokémon with a purple mane and two white ribbons flowing from the back of the body. Annie looked at her in astonishment and familiarity. Pika knew she was right on the money of the Pokémon to transform into for her. Annie responded that she would take on her challenge, and went into transforming into her form of a Pokémon. Pika told her for the battle, she proposes some rules: They are only limited to transforming into no more than 3 Pokémon appearances, and four moves of their choice per Pokémon. Other than that, it is pure skill. Annie nodded in response. They moved to where there was more space to hold the battle, and then with a long stare of tense observance from the two, the battle began. Their moves were fast, both in attacking and in dodging, but in the end, Annie was the one who was able to land more moves. She also had a lot more methods of defense in her arsenal, which Pika could not catch onto. With a large blow of an attack from behind, Pika went down and was not able to get up. With her body transforming back into her human form, the battle ended. Annie transformed back too, with the voice of her boyfriend cheering for her. After a minute, Pika slowly got herself back up, looking at Annie cheekily. She remarked to her that she is quite strong, and admits she can’t match it. Annie told her that it was a thrilling battle, but felt she needed to ask: how did Pika have these powers, know of Annie’s existence, and that she has such powers too? Pika smirked as she responded that she was the other half of a soul from the same person. They all looked at her in shock at this reveal, Annie the first to speak up. She asked Pika if what she said was true, and how she was the one to know it. Pika told Annie it’s a long story, but would be happy to talk to let her know the answer and get to know her. However, they decided it be better for the two to talk alone, so they decided to separate from Annie’s group to another part of the forest to get privacy. Pika noticed Annie waving goodbye to Ash, and let out a smile, trying to bottle down the bitter reminder of what she recently lost.
When the two went far enough, they sat down against a tree, where they could easily look up at the sky. Pika had difficulty maintaining eye contact, but she knew she had to speak with Annie either way, there were much-needed subjects to bring up. Annie first spoke, asking Pika about how they have the same capabilities and where her powers came from. Pika responded to her about the duo of Legendary Pokémon that gave them to her. Annie added on the one that gave her powers to that answer. Annie then asked how it was Pika knew about the two being connected if they were both given the same power. Pika told her that her two Legendary Pokémon were shown a vision about the two’s connection by the Mythical Arceus. Annie gasped in shock at this revelation, saying she met Arceus once before. She wondered why Arceus didn’t say anything to her then. Pika theorized that due to it being a deity, it most likely knew that whenever that meeting was, it likely wasn’t the time to drop such a big reveal. Pika realized something from Annie’s previous response and she asked Annie how long she’s had her powers. Annie said it had been at least 6 years. Pika said that explains a lot, her years of experience showed in their battle. Pika had only possessed hers for nearly a year up to that point. The two kept talking about their journeys, their experiences, their knowledge as Trainers, and more on their abilities. Later in the conversation, Pika brought up the question about Annie’s relationship with Ash. She noticed the two seemed close and was curious about how they were. Annie blushed, most likely due to the sudden subject her question pertained to. After a brief pause, Annie answered, telling Pika about how she and Ash were dating, how it started, and their current state. Pika smiled saying they certainly look like a cute couple, although she had a thought nagging at her that she needed to ask. Pika asked about the other girl, and why her emotions expressed feelings toward Ash as well. Annie went silent, for a longer time than before. Pika wasn’t sure if she was trying to rack her brain for the answer, or if she just didn’t want to say. Annie then started to talk, her words expressing extreme sadness. She told Pika she knew the other girl felt such feelings, and had come to hate it. She said it wouldn’t have been so bad if she wasn’t being a coquette a lot of the time. Pika nodded, saying she could understand the feeling. She told Annie she should treasure the relationship she has with Ash, and not lose it like she had with hers. Annie asked what she meant by her last statement. Pika said maybe someday she’ll tell her, but she honestly didn’t want to talk about it. The two noticed how late it had gotten, and Pika told Annie she should get back home soon. Annie nodded, saying she should probably get back to her group. Annie then reached out her hand, telling Pika it was good they met and she hopes to see more of her in the future. Pika took Annie’s hand and shook it, saying likewise. The two exchanged contact information before they parted ways. After Pika arrived back at her apartment, she immediately collapsed on her couch, the fatigue kicking in. She brought out her smaller Pokémon and set the Poké Balls of Xerneas and Yveltal on her nearby table and she talked to them all about what transpired with Annie. They intently listened as she spoke, while also inputting their thoughts throughout. Their discussions went on for a while, until it became even later, and they all had to go to sleep.
As time passed, Pika heard some unusual rumors that even leaked into the news. The word was there were some very suspicious people around the city, possibly threatening citizens. The one characteristic that stuck out was they didn’t seem human, nor Pokémon. They looked like humans but with some small differences. Reports were shown of them having abnormal eye colors, different arm, hand, and leg lengths, as well as differently shaped teeth. The thought of it just creeped her out, and she hoped to avoid them. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen. Not long after it all started, she was walking around in the city one day, heard a commotion in an alley, and went to check it out. When she peeked in, she saw an unusual sight. A tall, black-haired man was being cornered by multiple men. At first glance, they seemed like humans, but when looking further, the group had a few of the unusual characteristics she heard about. Pika instantly knew she had to do something, so she ran from her spot and got in between the man and the group, ready to fight back. The man yelled at her to get away, as it was too dangerous. Shaking her head, Pika said she could not walk away from something like this. Using her powers, she managed to fend them off, but it was no easy feat. Their strength was on a different level, nothing she had seen in her life. She was exhausted afterward, and it wasn't until after the adversaries had disappeared that she fell to her knees. The man propped her up and urged her that she should not have gotten involved. Pika responded with the question of what else she could have done. With a sigh, he picked Pika up and carried her in his arms, the positioning allowing her to get a better look at him. She could not stop staring once she started. He looked so mesmerizing, in a mysterious way. It lulled her in and she was not sure why. Once they found a safe and hidden spot, he set her down. After a long pause, he asked her why she saved him. Pika responded saying she felt she had to. The man sighed and sat by her without a word, causing Pika to eye him in curiosity. She had never met someone with such…energy as his.
The two stayed in silence for a while, and it eventually got darker. Pika got up with a stretch, as she didn’t feel much pain anymore. The man also got up, figuring he’d take his leave. Before he did, Pika stopped him and asked for his name. After a long pause, he introduced himself as [̷͇̂̉͑͠͠R̶̭̘͓̮͗́͗̕E̵̻͚͍̝̰͛̓͒ͅD̷̛͚̻̏͛A̴̖̮͉̳͒̓͑̎͗̊C̸̩̙̦̥̬̫̐T̶̹́͊̉E̸̘̗͉̣̯̐͊͠Ḓ̴̹̭̊́̈́̔̆]̶͓͍̞͆̈́. Pika also asked if she would see him again. The only response he left her was “Maybe,” before disappearing from her sight.
Sure enough, they crossed paths again. He came to where Pika was doing her daily training, to which he told her he was intrigued by her powers. Curious, she asked him what he meant. He went into how he was impressed by her possessing the kind she had, and how she was able to fend off those things. She said it was supposed to be a secret and to not tell anyone. He agreed. As time went on, the two trained together, and he offered methods on how to help her become stronger. Intrigued, she trained with him and worked herself harder. This went on for a while, and the two grew a bit closer, to the point where they started a relationship. However, Pika would come to realize she got sucked into one of the worst decisions and train of events she has ever been a part of.
Pika woke up one day feeling miserable. However, she knew she could not stay in bed, so she got herself up. She went to her bedroom door and listened through it. No sound. She used her aura. The apartment was empty. A sigh of relief escaped her lips. She moved her hand to her abdomen area as a lingering pain in her underside came back. Memories of recent events flooded into her head.
She remembered…as [̷͇̂̉͑͠͠R̶̭̘͓̮͗́͗̕E̵̻͚͍̝̰͛̓͒ͅD̷̛͚̻̏͛A̴̖̮͉̳͒̓͑̎͗̊C̸̩̙̦̥̬̫̐T̶̹́͊̉E̸̘̗͉̣̯̐͊͠Ḓ̴̹̭̊́̈́̔̆]̶͓͍̞͆̈́ and her were in a relationship, he witnessed more of her power. Due to that, he gradually became more controlling of her. She remembered he had revealed to her that he was a demon, like the others she encountered. At the point that occurred, she was too deep in, with no end in sight. She remembers the horrible things he did to gain her control…including snatching her virginity and exploiting it. While under his every command, he shifted her training from Pokémon battles to exclusively her power, but with more extreme uses. And every night…he’d have his way with her and her body. She remembers he took her on excursions as part of her training, with one aspect of it being extreme. She remembers he taught her how to take other people's lives, and the methods leading up to it. It all made her extremely hesitant, but she could not handle the consequence of him punishing her if she did not complete her task. She recalled in her first encounter, she used her powers to sneak herself and approached her first target: a young woman, possibly around her age. The events of that particular encounter were hazy, except for the motion of a weapon, splatters of blood, a figure flopping, and her throwing up soon after arriving back home. Another memory that surfaced was him introducing Pika to the realm of demons. He needed to go there for business at different times and took her with him to give her the idea of it all. He often left her alone, and she remembered being bullied by the other demons. She immediately shoved the memory aside. The last one that surfaced was the only thing she ever remembered he did that made her happy. He fed her well. Pika was not much of a cook other than canned/frozen foods, and the occasional soup or stew from ingredients she scavenged herself. He was a really good cook, and he fed her good meals, he reasons that fuel for the body is not to be given a second thought when doing her training. While Pika's head clouded with thoughts that it was only to lull her into a false sense of security with him, she didn't argue, as she could not handle the idea of missing her meals.
Pika went to her bedside table and opened the top drawer. Her Poké Balls containing her companions were on top of all the other things she had stashed. She picked up the blue one and looked through it, knowing full well that Lucario was staring back at her. Ever since the abuse, she could not risk bringing any of them into it, worried they'd get hurt, or worse. However, Lucario became extremely protective of her, and he insisted even if she could not get the others to, that he be the one to back her up. Once again, she stashed the round capsule in her clothes. She then heard her apartment door open and a familiar voice. The cycle continues once again.
That particular day happened to be a very fateful one, one that changed the course of her life and her mind. It occurred in the evening, when [̷͇̂̉͑͠͠R̶̭̘͓̮͗́͗̕E̵̻͚͍̝̰͛̓͒ͅD̷̛͚̻̏͛A̴̖̮͉̳͒̓͑̎͗̊C̸̩̙̦̥̬̫̐T̶̹́͊̉E̸̘̗͉̣̯̐͊͠Ḓ̴̹̭̊́̈́̔̆]̶͓͍̞͆̈́ came to Pika and presented her with an offer. She stood in silence as he spoke to her: he wanted to help her improve more and become stronger...by becoming a demon herself. Her eyes grew wide in fear as the implications of becoming one of them swirled around in her head. Her imagination went wild and would've mentally shut down if not for him snapping her back to reality. She realized this was one thing she absolutely could not say no to, as the consequences would be great. However, as fast as the other thoughts came, one more came into her head. She knew she had to get herself out...and she realized this could be another step to do so. Gritting her teeth, she nodded in response to his offer. He smirked back at her and proceeded to pin her against the wall, insisting she should not move for this process. Before she could ask, she saw a pair of twisted, thorny vines emerge from his body. The next second, the swift movement of it went towards her and stabbed her square in the back, latching her. Then she felt another stab between her legs, almost making her fall to the ground. After the stabs, she felt strong grips...and something spreading inside her body. Her vision blurred as she started hearing a distorted voice inside her head. Her thoughts went to places she didn’t think they’d go before, and the pain became even worse. The voice got louder and closer, as it was right up against her ear. The next thing she saw was her vision going black as she collapsed to the ground.
Pika opened her eyes, she was lying in her bed. Her head was pounding, but like the other days, she had to get herself up. As she moved out of bed, she felt a sharper pain in her underside. She’s felt pain down there before, but this time was different. She went to the bathroom to freshen up, but as she looked in the mirror, she hardly recognized the reflection looking back at her. Pika’s appearance was altered, enough for her to do a double take. Her eyes became a deep crimson, she grew fangs, her wings became much bigger, and when looking at her hands, she noticed...claws. Long and just as crimson as her eyes. She whipped her bedroom door open to try to spot her demon boyfriend who did this to her. Just as she thought, he was there, waiting for her. She stomped to him, demanding in a distorted voice for an explanation. His expression unwavering, he told her that they would need to train her to manage the new changes, including blending back to her usual appearance. Gritting her teeth and resisting the urge to yell, she only let out a huffed response of "Fine." He got her back to training, heavily focused on her power and how to manage her demon abilities. However, Pika’s mental health was deteriorating at a rapid pace. Ever since her transformation, he became more passionate with her, using her to an even greater extent. On top of his certain routines with her every night, he messed with her as a way to get her demon side to show more often. It all amused him.
It was during that time Pika decided to come up with a real plan for getting out of her abusive relationship. She first needed to keep playing along to take advantage of her new powers, and be more observant of [̷͇̂̉͑͠͠R̶̭̘͓̮͗́͗̕E̵̻͚͍̝̰͛̓͒ͅD̷̛͚̻̏͛A̴̖̮͉̳͒̓͑̎͗̊C̸̩̙̦̥̬̫̐T̶̹́͊̉E̸̘̗͉̣̯̐͊͠Ḓ̴̹̭̊́̈́̔̆]̶͓͍̞͆̈́ and what he does. She went on with her training, which finally paid off because, after a while, she was able to pull back her demon appearance. However, she still didn’t know how to control bringing it out. Every time it happened, it was against her will, mainly when she got angry. She had no choice but to save it for later.
Pika later came across an opportunity during one of her trips to the demon realm. While she was wandering around, she met someone down there, just like her. A half-human woman, half-demon. The two looked at each other, shocked that they had never seen another like them down there. They cautiously approached the other and observed. Pika broke the silence to ask if she is what she thinks she is. The woman only gave a nod in response. Pika tried to work up a conversation, asking about herself and why she was here in a place like this. The woman told Pika she’d tell her, but it wouldn’t be wise to do so in the open, so she invited her to her home. From a glance at the woman’s aura, Pika sensed a surprising amount of good in it. She nodded, deciding to trust her for now. Pika followed her throughout the realm in an awkward silence. Her thoughts were swirling with ideas of questions to ask this woman. She was not expecting to have such an encounter that day, but she just could not gloss over it. It seemed the woman wasn’t able to, either. Eventually, they arrived at a building similar to a house. It looked like a sort of natural structure, meant to blend in with the environment. It was the same color and material as the ground, and the windows were only holes, although it did possess a door. The woman opened the door, leading Pika inside.
Pika went in and was gestured to find a seat. She sat at a table across from her, on a stone. The woman began to speak. She confirmed Pika’s suspicion by saying she is indeed half-human, half-demon, much like Pika herself. Pika asked her if she became a permanent resident, and how she became a hybrid such as herself. The woman responded that her actions nor her choices concerned her, and added she is content being in the realm, versus the world she was in before. Pika’s thoughts trailed along her use of the word “world”, meaning she possibly was not from Pika's world. Pika asked her if she knew of creatures called Pokémon. The woman looked at her with a puzzled expression. After a brief pause, she responded no. Pika’s eyes blinked, she just confirmed her newest suspicion. Pika then asked her how much she knew of the realm and the "culture" it had. She said she knew quite a bit, and wouldn't mind teaching her about it. Pika responded she would love the information, as long as she didn't mind frequent visits due to her strict boyfriend. She nodded and said she'd look forward to more meetings. Pika noted the woman's aura and the house's location, then took her leave.
Pika tried to visit the woman as often as she could. Luckily, [̷͇̂̉͑͠͠R̶̭̘͓̮͗́͗̕E̵̻͚͍̝̰͛̓͒ͅD̷̛͚̻̏͛A̴̖̮͉̳͒̓͑̎͗̊C̸̩̙̦̥̬̫̐T̶̹́͊̉E̸̘̗͉̣̯̐͊͠Ḓ̴̹̭̊́̈́̔̆]̶͓͍̞͆̈́ had business in the realm more often in that timeframe. Since Pika was unable to travel to the realm herself due to not knowing how, it lined up perfectly with her plan. Their sessions consisted of them talking about several things. The woman taught Pika what she needed to know about the realm, its inhabitants, and noteworthy locations. They also went into the “culture” of the demons and their laws. As they were talking, [̷͇̂̉͑͠͠R̶̭̘͓̮͗́͗̕E̵̻͚͍̝̰͛̓͒ͅD̷̛͚̻̏͛A̴̖̮͉̳͒̓͑̎͗̊C̸̩̙̦̥̬̫̐T̶̹́͊̉E̸̘̗͉̣̯̐͊͠Ḓ̴̹̭̊́̈́̔̆]̶͓͍̞͆̈́ 's name came up in the conversation. The woman halted, confirming the name that was said. She asked if Pika knew who he was. Pika responded she had some sort of idea, now that she’s seen every side of him. The woman said she meant if Pika knew who he was in the demon realm. Pika went silent, trying to put ideas together. She figured he wasn’t any lower-ranked demon like others she had encountered, though she wasn’t allowed near him while he was doing his “business”. However, she was unable to come up with a conclusive answer. Pika only shook her head. The woman told her that he was one of the highest-ranking demons and heavily feared in the realm. Pika's eyes widened in shock and fear. It all made sense. His actions, his ability to manipulate her, granting her the demon abilities through a "deal" to make her stronger. The trap she had already fallen into became even deeper. Hesitant, and with trembling fear in Pika's voice, she asked the woman why such a demon could have claimed her of all people or beings as his "mate". She responded that there could be many reasons, but the biggest possibility was that Pika had caught his eye in some way, which was a huge feat for him in particular. Thinking about it for a while, Pika then posed this question to the woman: How does she end her relationship and her deal? The woman looked at her in shock and said that doing such a thing is not so easy, as deals with demons are meant to be embedded for life to keep it as foolproof as possible. Trying to break such a deal would put Pika's life in jeopardy. With no hesitation, Pika told her she was willing to take that chance if it meant getting herself away from the life she was currently bound to. The woman paused, then began to tell Pika what she knew: In general, demons are not as easy to kill as humans. They are much harder in that they require a special mineral that demons are weak to. However, extraction of such material is immensely prohibited and the penalty for being found with any of that material without proper authorization or not being employed in certain positions is death. Plus, all weapons with the embedded material are produced inside the castle. The guards and soldiers are the ones who mainly use such weapons. Pika has two options: she either tries to illegally get the material and have someone undercover make it into a weapon for her, or she infiltrates the castle to find where the weapons are stored and take one for herself. Pika told her the first one might not be an option due to the small possibility of anyone helping her, so she decided on the option of stealing a weapon directly. The woman sighed and told her if she was so set on doing this, then she would work on gathering intel to help towards her infiltration. She mentioned her husband actually works at the castle but didn't know when he would not be home next. Due to that, she requested that Pika not be back for a little while. Pika quickly nodded and thanked her for all the help.
The more Pika kept going on with her charade, the harder it was for her to do. She was becoming anxious due to the hardship he routinely puts her through, along with her training regimen. She was getting impatient at that point and wanted to end it right then and there. However, the two had not been back to the demon realm for a while, possibly due to his "business" being finished. Pika struggled to figure out how to ask him to take her back, as she realized she never particularly expressed interest in being there. However, she also never told him any sort of thing she was doing in the realm when she was unsupervised, not even a type of lie. She then remembered: she could tell him about the friend she made. While scared about how he would react to this news, she had no other options. She decided to try asking the next time she saw him. Pika went on with her day like normal in order to act natural and he eventually arrived back at her apartment. She gave it some time after he had settled back in for her to talk to him on the subject. She first asked on if he had plans to go back to the demon realm anytime soon. He looked at her with slight suspicion on his face, wondering why she brought up such a question all of a sudden. Pika looked at him flustered as she asked how he remembered he usually left her to her own devices there to get to know the place, to which he nodded. Tapping her fingers shyly, she managed to tell him that she got to know someone and made a friend. He looked at her with intrigue. He asked her about them, wondering who she had gotten to know. Pika described to him only half the information she knew with this phrasing: she is a female demon residing in the realm, and due to her husband working in the castle, he isn't home most of the time, so she and Pika spent time together to keep each other company. Pika told him she wanted his assistance getting there this time as they were going to have a day out together. She tapped her fingers together again as she awaited his response. He looked at her with a smug, held her chin, and said how she was starting somewhere in making a name for herself there. However, he warned her that a lot of lower-class demons aren’t usually in these types of commitments without wanting something for their own gain. Pika hesitantly asked what he meant. He responded that to put it simply, she is being used. She countered, saying to tell what grounds he had in order to assert such a claim. His response was that unlike her, he’s had much more experience with other demons, so he’s seen this cycle first-hand. Pika tried to speak, but no words came out. She did not know how to respond to that. Keeping her close by the chin, he said he could take her, but to remember one thing: he was the only demon who actually cared about her. Pika looked at him in silence before letting out a defeated sigh, saying she will be vigilant. He smiled toward her in a way that was near a smirk before kissing her. Pika stood still, trying not to flinch at this action from him. Once he let go, he asked when they were meeting, to which Pika responded it was the next day. That late morning, they departed to the demon realm, and before he left, Pika was left with the words, “Remember what I warned you about yesterday. It is for your own good.”
Pika headed to the woman’s house. While eager to get started on her plan, she mentally debated with herself on whether she should go through with it. While she was scared of the plan going wrong in any way, she was more scared of if he happened to be right about the woman. She made it to the woman's house and knocked on her door. Lucky for Pika, she answered almost immediately. Pika greeted her, asking if this was a good time. The woman smiled, saying she actually just finished her investigation yesterday. She invited her in to tell her about it. Pika quickly went inside the house and walked with the woman to their usual sitting spot. Pika sat down, waiting eagerly for what the woman had to share. She told Pika that she did some digging and was able to find out where she needed to go to get the weapon she needed. Presenting a map that she acquired in her partner’s belongings, she explained the layout of the castle and the obstacles to look out for, including guards and security systems. Pika’s head swirled with all the new info she was given, and she asked a number of questions to get a better grasp of what she was getting into. Though she was beginning to get a little more anxious due to the high risks of such a task. Noticing her concern, the woman asked her about her capabilities, mainly what powers she would use to pull off this heist. Pika stayed silent for a minute, thinking about the question, before answering about how she is able to conceal herself in the environment through invisibility, use her heightened senses of hearing, and phase through walls like a ghost. The woman looked at Pika intently, before nodding and giving a smile, saying she would be fine as long as she stuck to that strategy. Pika took a few deep breaths, trying to calm herself. The woman gave her the map to use while she was there. Pika took it, saying she’d head over right away to try to get it done sooner. Pika wanted to ask her one thing before she did, however. She asked the woman why it was that she had been helping her so much. She was met with the response that she could tell she didn’t want to be a part of what she had ended up in, and her human instinct kept her feeling like she needed to help. Especially since she is satisfied with her own situation, one that she willingly allowed herself into. Pika looked at her in awe before thanking her, and letting her know that the two may not meet again after this. The woman said she figured that, as long as she kept quiet about everything they talked about. Pika agreed to those being fair terms before leaving with a gentle smile.
Multiple breaths taken, she was glad the meeting with the woman went well, and she got what she needed to conduct her heist. But she knew that the worst was yet to come. She flew over to where the castle was, remembering the location from having seen it a few times before. When she saw it in the vicinity, she landed in an inconspicuous location in order to prepare to infiltrate. She looked at the map to find the best spot to get into. The weapon room was located on the third floor through multiple security doors and posted guards at the entrance. It was in a corner, but a short trip once she got into the certain window by the first hallway. After becoming invisible, she transformed into a bird Pokémon and took flight. While the castle itself could be seen for miles, it was at a very high elevation, which would take a little while for Pika to make it. Using the other form would save her time and energy, as this one was capable of very high speeds. Luckily for her, the vicinity around this elevated piece of land had little to no guards. She soon made it to the castle itself and changed her form when she was directly under the landmass, before moving on. She was able to recognize the shape of the castle to the map easily, and found the window she needed to get into. As it was closed, she quietly phased through, making sure no occupant was nearby. She took out her map and used it to navigate herself toward the weapon room. Just as she was informed, two guards stood directly in front. They stood very close to the door to where it would most likely blow her cover if she tried to sneak past them, even when invisible. Luckily, Pika had another trick up her sleeve. Hovering over them, she cast a powder that induced sleep. As she watched them fall into slumber, she snuck past and got herself through the door. She went through a long hallway behind, possibly designed in case of intruders. One more door was ahead, though to her surprise, there were no guards at that one. With a shrug, she went through the door just as easily as the ones before it.
She made it to her destination: A dimly lit red room, lined with the different tools of harm these demons protected so much. For a second, she thought it weird she was able to get here so easily, possibly due to that they have no security against such power of hers. She shoved the thought aside, wanting to focus on her task at hand, as well as trying not to jinx herself. She looked over the different weapons: ones of many different shapes, sizes, and most likely sharpness. However, each weapon showed the one thing in common she was informed of: the special material looking like a crimson-colored shiny stone. It was used as a direct form of harm, so they were used as part of the blades for knives, swords, and other weapons of such caliber. Pika remembered being told that even the slight touch of a weapon from any sort of demon left an extremely sensitive mark, even more traceable than finding a human DNA match. Pika would’ve had to wear gloves that covered her tracks, or she’d stick with one weapon to try before stealing. Wanting to choose wisely here, Pika took her time looking at the different weapons in order to find one best suited for her. It didn’t take long for her to spot a relatively good-sized dagger, with a blade the size of her own hand. She examined it before taking it by its handle. It felt comfortable to hold as she practiced thrusting with it. With a nod, she held it in her hand and took the appropriate holster hanging by its slot. She stuck the holster on her person then proceeded out of the weapon room. +When she got out, she saw the guards barely starting to wake up, so she hightailed it out of the castle side she was at. She checked her clock, it had been several hours since the time she was dropped off. She figured it best to head over to the spot [̷͇̂̉͑͠͠R̶̭̘͓̮͗́͗̕E̵̻͚͍̝̰͛̓͒ͅD̷̛͚̻̏͛A̴̖̮͉̳͒̓͑̎͗̊C̸̩̙̦̥̬̫̐T̶̹́͊̉E̸̘̗͉̣̯̐͊͠Ḓ̴̹̭̊́̈́̔̆]̶͓͍̞͆̈́ was to meet her at as to not cause suspicion. Sure enough, he was waiting for her there, but he hadn’t noticed her quite yet. Pika smirked, she had immediately come up with a plan, since she first told him it was going to be like a day out. She initiated it by crying out his name, which caught his attention. He looked up to see her flying toward him, and she lunged herself into his chest, crying. He asked her what was wrong, to which she explained to him between sobs he was right in that she was just using her, and that he’s the only one that actually cares for her. He rubbed her back, as he talked in his own manner to “console” her. After crying for a bit, she asked to go home, and without a sound, he took her hand and they left the demon realm. As they traversed back to her apartment, he said he hoped she learned a valuable lesson.
Since Pika finally got her hands on the weapon, she needed to prepare herself for the deed. She was nearly ready to execute the final phase of her big plan, though she became restless. At the same time, she got worried that she would screw up, as this was something that needs to get done the first time, or there most likely won’t be a next time. She needed to keep preparing, and she decided the best way was to train by herself somewhere no one would find her. She soon researched a very secluded forest in the region, where little light came in during the day, also known to be inhabited by ghost Pokémon. She figured if she were to slip away from his radar in order to hide herself there, she would have to go in the dead hours of the night. She secretly prepared for this trip, gathering her traveling/camping gear and her Pokémon to keep her safe. A few nights later, she set off. Using her own source of light, Pika made her way inside the forest through flight. She surely wasn't wrong in that the place was creepy. However, it didn't compare to the threat that she is working to fight against. Finding a good spot, she first set up camp. She felt the presence of ghost Pokémon nearby, however her demon-ish appearance she cast was just enough to let them not get near her. She began a quick warm-up of what to do: she cast an illusion of [̷͇̂̉͑͠͠R̶̭̘͓̮͗́͗̕E̵̻͚͍̝̰͛̓͒ͅD̷̛͚̻̏͛A̴̖̮͉̳͒̓͑̎͗̊C̸̩̙̦̥̬̫̐T̶̹́͊̉E̸̘̗͉̣̯̐͊͠Ḓ̴̹̭̊́̈́̔̆]̶͓͍̞͆̈́ to use as her training dummy. Afterward, she took out her knife and began practicing.
Pika made it back to her apartment and saw [̷͇̂̉͑͠͠R̶̭̘͓̮͗́͗̕E̵̻͚͍̝̰͛̓͒ͅD̷̛͚̻̏͛A̴̖̮͉̳͒̓͑̎͗̊C̸̩̙̦̥̬̫̐T̶̹́͊̉E̸̘̗͉̣̯̐͊͠Ḓ̴̹̭̊́̈́̔̆]̶͓͍̞͆̈́ waiting for her there. Pika stared him down as he looked at her. He threw her the question of where she was and why she was gone for so long, as she missed their daily regimen. Pika's only answer was silence. He asked her why she didn't tell him where she was going and when she had left. Silence followed. He started to walk closer, changing the tone of his voice in frustration at her not answering him. Pika continued to stare him down. She knew this was the time, as she had planned. However, despite her unwavering appearance toward him, she was deathly shaking inside. She had killed many other people at the point she was at, but never a demon. And she had to start on him: a high-ranking demon, no less. He got close enough to her to where he could pin her to the wall. Pika couldn’t stand him trying to get his way anymore. She made a swift movement of bringing out the new weapon and stabbing him in the side with it, then pulling it out. He stumbled back as he stared at the wound. It would not stop bleeding. He glared at her, snarling the question, “̷̡͍̟̒͗̃Ŵ̷̢̩͇̈́h̸̡͍̿̚͜â̷̼̖̱̅t̶̛͈̘ ̸̮̈́d̵͎̙̀̊ͅi̷̞͋͘ḋ̷̗̾͠ ̶̨̹̜͛̂ý̷̢̀̀ơ̶͍̜u̴͓͎͈̓̾͝ ̸̠̦̓̀̽j̶͉̈́̍͝u̸̅̍ͅs̶̪̻̥͝t̸͖͉̮̔͝ ̴̰̅s̶̼͉̩̊̆ţ̷̱̌͌͜ȧ̶͕̽b̸̙́̈̈́ ̵̺̍̒m̷̞͆͌̎e̴̫͇̔́ ̵̫͇̓w̶̹̦̰̿͘i̸̙̥̹̔͆͆t̴̟̃̾h̴̘̎͝?̷̛̬̳͌͝”̵͎̚
Pika clenched the dagger in her fist, not intending to let it go. She risked her own life to get it and she wasn’t about to screw up what she needed it for. She analyzed him, readying his next move. A struggle soon ensued. He attacked her with brute strength as she defended herself with her Pokémon move knowledge and offensively attacked with her dagger. She knew most of his movements due to how much the two trained together. However, it is the same for him. If it wasn’t for Pika’s weapon, he would heavily outmatch her due to their gap in strength. He was starting to get desperate the more she was stabbing him. He brought out thorny vines from his back, the same ones Pika had seen before. However, Pika has since learned to use hers. She brought hers out from her wings and aimed. Their vines wrapped around one another as they clashed and stabbed. The attempts with the vines made the fight a stalemate, so Pika came up with another plan to stun him. She infused her vines with known Pokémon moves to inflict conditions that disrupt opponents. Such conditions she used were poison, paralysis, and burning. It became a battle of attrition.
When he got down to very little strength, she bonded him in place with psychic power, rendering him immobile. She had him pinned against the ground as he looked at her with a scowl. He asked her why she was doing this, laying out how he took care of her, trained her, and made her better with power. Pika’s response was, “You don’t know the weight of what you did. Beasts like you can never comprehend the sins of your actions to people like me.” He let out a howling laugh. “Me, a beast? And you aren’t? Look at who is losing here. Face it, you are a beast and a freak, just like the rest of us.” Pika only glared, not allowing his words to phase her. She had to end it before he said something that would throw her off. She left him the words, “Goodbye, [̷͇̂̉͑͠͠R̶̭̘͓̮͗́͗̕E̵̻͚͍̝̰͛̓͒ͅD̷̛͚̻̏͛A̴̖̮͉̳͒̓͑̎͗̊C̸̩̙̦̥̬̫̐T̶̹́͊̉E̸̘̗͉̣̯̐͊͠Ḓ̴̹̭̊́̈́̔̆]̶͓͍̞͆̈́,” as she stabbed and slit his throat. His body quickly decomposed until there was nothing but dust.
Pika breathed heavily, exhausted but relieved. It was finally over. His body was gone, but her apartment's main area was ransacked. There was quite a bit of blood left behind too. Pika knew that if someone found her out, she would be screwed. She immediately went to work, using an old trick she was taught of how to remove bloodstains. Being half demon, she became sensitive to the smell, so she was able to spot places she needed to clean, even if it meant throwing things out afterward. Luckily, she was able to clean and tidy as much as she could. After she was done, she went to her bedroom, changed her clothes, and immediately passed out on her bed.
Time passed since she had been released from her shackles. She didn't realize how much the abuse had taken a toll on her. It took her weeks to get over the anxiety she had of him being there every day to torture her. Her Lucario had a serious talk with her, saying she needed emotional support to work through this, and suggested she talk to someone. Pika countered, asking how she would tell anyone what the hell she went through for many months. She added no one would believe there were demons, as they were certainly out of everyone's scope in her world. Pika only knew because of how unwillingly involved she became in it. Lucario looked at her in a sorrowful silence. He then said that he would be her support in her recovery process, now that he is gone. She hugged Lucario in response. Her Pokémon has since helped her get back into the habit of training, both in her Pokémon-focused abilities and getting the hang of controlling her demon abilities. While Pika was able to keep up with her other training, she was struggling to control the demon's abilities. She described the feeling of the demon remnant emerging as being clouded in a blanket of darkness and losing control of her mind and body. She does become aware of what happens around her like she is inside the cockpit of a machine, but only able to watch. Xerneas and Yveltal, who mainly supervise the demon training, decided to have Pika focus on how to gain control when those instances happen. Hesitance in her voice, Pika said she'll see what she can figure out.
One day, Pika was just going on with her normal routine when she received a call. When she looked at her phone, she saw it was Annie. She picked up the call and heard crying on the other end. Pika was thrown off guard, but went with her instincts and tried to console her. She asked what was wrong and why she was crying. In between sobs, Annie slowly let out the words, "She...that girl...she kissed Ash...and I ran away." Pika's blood boiled. The moment she first met the girl Annie was referring to, she knew something was fishy. Pika asked her where she went, or if she was near Ash at least. She responded she ran from everyone, including Ash, and that she was by herself. Pika asked if she saw how Ash took it, and she said she didn't know. She didn't dare be a part of that "friendship" with the girl anymore if there even was one in the first place. Pika only snarled the phrase, "I'm going to fucking kill her." Annie started freaking out on the other end, confused as to where that came from and pleading with her not to take such action. Pika only responded with silence before letting out a sigh. She told her she’d consider it before hanging up.
The conversation left her heated, so she left her apartment to take a walk. She took routes where she hardly saw anyone, as she didn’t want to engage with people in the mood she was left in. However, she stopped short when she passed by a boutique in the city. In the window, a mannequin was displayed wearing a long, cute shirt and a pair of black leggings. The leggings go around the waist and down the entire legs, stopping at just above the ankles. Pika looked down at her legs, bare as they stuck out from her special yellow dress that she wore every day. Memories of her abuse came into her brain, and she struggled to shove them away. She knew what she had to do. Pika went into the store and went to where the display was. By the window, leggings of different sizes, colors, and patterns were lying on the shelf, waiting to be moved from their tidiness. Pika took a pair of black ones in a size that seemed best to her and went into a stall to try them on. She put them on without having to undress her regular clothes and when she looked in the mirror, a feeling of security washed over her. This confirmed that she made the right decision. She went, got a few more as extras, and paid for them all, including keeping on the one she tried. Pika knew that with the new clothing, she would not be able to let anyone go into that section of her body without her consent again.
A series of tragedies soon struck. The first occurred on a day that Pika was training herself, and it was a very rough session. Her demon side had emerged, and it was ruthless in that it did not want Pika to resist. Xerneas and Yveltal were ready to try to calm her down, but her power became oddly strong in a matter of seconds. She wiped out all the other Pokémon that rushed in to help her. Yveltal came up with a plan: Yveltal would wear her down through battle while Xerneas tried to guide Pika back to the world and her own body. They quickly went to action, trying to stop Pika's demon from causing a big mess. Yveltal used its life-sucking moves to wear Pika down and Xerneas used its powers to blind Pika's demon, and communicate to Pika trapped inside. It took some time, but they managed to wear Pika down enough to where her body collapsed. When her eyes opened to being blue, they knew they succeeded. They helped Pika up, and her eyes widened in shock as she noticed something really bad: she sensed someone unfamiliar nearby. She called them out to the exact spot they were concealed in, a nearby bush. A young woman came out, shuddering with fear. Pika just stared at her, trying to figure out the words to say. She knew she couldn't talk herself out of this type of situation. Before she could speak, the woman ran away from where they were. Pika thought for a second to chase her, but her exhaustion had kicked in, and she realized it would make the situation worse. She told Xerneas and Yveltal she got a really bad feeling about what just occurred.
Surely enough, the next day, Pika discovered the media had gone into a frenzy. The woman probably spilled, as there were articles with Pika’s face on it all about her abnormalities. Pika even saw a picture of a moment depicting Pika in her demon form: her larger wings, her eyes a crimson red, and her claws outspread. On top of all that, her expression had a large, sinister smile. Pika shuddered looking at it. She then went to social media to check the general reaction to all this news. She saw posts, comments, and pictures of it all. People made suspicions and were ridiculing and insulting her. Some even called her a freak. Pika tossed her phone down, her head in her hands. Xerneas and Yveltal warned this would happen if her powers were ever exposed, but they couldn’t blame her in this case since it wasn’t intentional.
Pika mainly laid low during the current uproar against her. However, when she needed to get essentials like groceries or other products, she either transformed into a different appearance or had her Lucario or Greninja go buy the things she needed. She struggled to not break her cover in public when she heard people talking about her so negatively, as well as all the newspapers going around with her face on them. Pika’s reputation was plummeting and she felt anything she tried would make it worse.
However, the common people were not the only ones that caught wind of Pika’s other nature. At this point, they had gotten so low as to call Pika a witch, demon, all the like of any creature that was despised. Some people even wanted her dead. Pika got lucky from any physical threats as she had never disclosed her apartment’s location to anyone other than a few necessary people. But her hometown’s location was found, which led to the next big disaster. Pika was hunkered down in her apartment one day when she saw an appalling news story on her television. Her hometown of Vaniville…was on fire. Pika watched in shock, as her mother lived there. She knew she had to hurry to see the situation and make sure her mother was okay. She didn’t think about her appearance at all, as she just rushed out of her apartment as fast as she could without people noticing her, and she extended her wings, flying to Vaniville. She felt suffocated by the smell of smoke in the air as she was approaching. She looked down and she saw a blanket of fire over the houses there. She quickly flew down to where a crowd was gathering in front of the scene. The people looked at Pika terrified. Pika didn’t have time to worry about herself right now, however. She pleaded with the people if they knew where her mom was or if she was okay. None of them answered her. She implored that she knows she may be currently seen in a bad light, but it had no right for her mother to be shoved into this against her will. She asked one more time if they knew anything of her whereabouts. After some silence, a man answered that she never came out of her house. Pika looked at him in shock and said she’d go in to try to find her. She went to the front of her house and started to use water attacks toward the fire to try to create a path. She had managed to get the front door cleared of it when she suddenly felt a painful tugging at her wings. Pika looked back and saw two members of Team Flare holding a thick wire, pulling her tightly by the wings. She fell over from loss of balance and being unable to concentrate on her powers. She shouted at them to let her go, trying to break free from her binding. However, the more Pika struggled, the harder it hurt. It then started to click: since they were here and after her, it’s possible this was meant to be for her in the first place. She needed to come up with a plan to get herself out, and fast. She first reached into her bag and threw one of her Poké Balls, her Greninja being the one to come out of it. Without command, he managed to cut the wire with one of his attacks, setting Pika free. She had Greninja keep an eye on them, as she’ll interrogate them later. She then hurried back to the house.
The fire had spread to the front door again, so she put it out once more before rushing inside. With the entire interior being on fire, Pika had a hard time breathing and had to keep making a path for herself. However, she struggled to find any sign of life on the main floor. She then went upstairs, hoping she would find something there. The stairs were covered in debris, however, so she had to fly over it, putting out flames in the process. She hurried up to her old bedroom first, being the closest, but there was no one there. She then went to the master bedroom, only to find the door locked and barricaded. Combined with the suffocating smoke, she became washed with fear. She hurried to put out the fire on the barricade and smash it away with long-range attacks. She then busted the lock on the door and knocked it off its hinges. Rushing into the room after clearing a path, she was met with a horrible sight. She saw a black outline of a body, lying on the floor by the doorway. She slowly went to get a closer look at it. No aura, no movement, nothing. She went toward the head and looked at the face. Pika audibly gasped before coughing from the environment. Her mind was racing at what she saw and the circumstances around her. However, a shaking in the house snapped her out of it. She saw that it was collapsing in, and the doorway she came in got blocked. Pika was running out of time and didn't think she could carry the body. She remembered the nearby windows in the room and hurried to open one. She was unable to get them open normally, however, as they seemed to have been sealed shut. She was left with no choice but to break through. She thrusted herself through and out the window, flying away from the fire. She looked around and spotted Greninja by the entrance of the house. She called out and landed in front of Greninja, embracing him. Greninja communicated to her, saying the people he watched had gotten away, and asked her what happened in the house. Her voice choking up, she told him that her mother was dead. Greninja looked at her in sadness, as he also knew her personally, due to the multiple times he'd met her since being Pika's Pokémon. He then asked her what she should do at this point. Pika told him she'll have to come up with a plan since she couldn't go to the authorities in fear of being condemned for reasons that technically weren't her fault. They'll have to lay low until she comes up with a permanent plan. She returned Greninja to his Poké Ball, intending to leave the area. However, in the next second, she felt a large sharp pain to the back of her head and her vision blacked out as she collapsed to the ground.
Pika opened her eyes to an unfamiliar location. Her head was throbbing, she felt exhaustion throughout her body, and her hands and legs were bound by rope. Her wings were also tied by wire, leaving pain in that area. She looked around, she seemed to be at the ruins of a shrine. She saw a group of people in weird silver uniforms, different from the terrorist group she was familiar with. Right behind them were a pair of large Pokémon she recognized in legends: the guardian of time called Dialga, and the guardian of space called Palkia. Pika called to the people, demanding where she had ended up. A group of people with distinctive hair colors looked over to her. One of them approached her; a woman with purple hair. She remarked on how Pika was now awake and flicked her on the forehead. Pika winced and snarled at her, proceeding to ask once again where she had been taken. The woman evaded the subject, claiming to be waiting for her leader’s orders. They heard a voice saying that’s enough talk, and the woman immediately moved away. Pika looked in the other direction as a man with blue, spiky hair and a similar uniform was approaching her. He looked over her, before he scoffed, asking in a condescending tone how someone like her caused so much uproar in the world. Pika responded that it was something she was unable to control, and this was where her fate had led. Cyrus said that either way, she is disrupting the path to the world becoming perfect. And she is only an insignificant thing toward the end goal. Pika went in shock at his words, she had never heard such descriptions about her and the world she knew. Cyrus looked at the woman, saying only “Grab them.” Pika watched as the woman walked over and yanked Pika’s bag off her shoulders. Pika struggled as she tried to prevent it from happening, but it was no use. She then tried to use her psychic power to take it back but was immediately struck with an electric shock that broke her concentration. She scowled, looking for the source of the shock. She saw a woman with red hair behind her with a yellow Electric-type Pokémon next to her. The woman told her to not try anything, or she will be shocked again. Pika growled and looked toward the purple-haired woman. She was going through Pika's bag and pulled out six familiar spheres. Pika's eyes began to lose her color as she saw they were taking her Pokémon. Anguish washed over her and she was unable to move. The purple haired woman approached back to Pika with her bag in hand and she tossed it to her side. Pika slowly moved her tied arms to get the bag around her neck. The man then told her to be prepared, as that's not the only thing in store for her. Her voice breaking, she asked what he meant. He directed her attention to Dialga and Palkia, now with large red necklace-like objects surrounding them. They struggled for a minute, then stilled before turning toward Pika. Pika could hear Cyrus' voice as he shouted "Dialga, Palkia, send her away!" Pika gasped as she felt an overwhelming force open behind her, trying to suck her in like a vacuum. She tried to pin herself down to the ground and briefly glanced over. She saw a circular shape that looked like it wasn't a part of reality. She gasped, trying to move herself away from being taken into whatever unknown awaits her. However, one more electric shock took her, she faded to unconsciousness once again, and her body was sucked into the circle.
As Pika was sent through time and space, Pika will end up in a very unfamiliar place. Which one, however, is only one of many different possibilities.
Personality:
Pika is the type that chooses morals on her independence and can even be referred to as an anti-hero. While her mannerisms and personality are very similar to Annie’s, her actions differentiate. She’s way more protective of the people she cares about due to her fear of losing the ones she cares about most, even if her own is ever put on the line. She also takes the concept of taking someone’s life lightly compared to many other people. Plus, since she’s not as experienced with her powers, she throws herself into danger more often and always itches to use them when an opportunity comes up. In terms of language, Pika tends to use swear words. She is also very blunt and isn’t good at lying to keep someone happy. She believes in the truth more than anything and is more willing to be hurt by it than be kept happy by lies.
However, there are some darker sides to her. As an effect of Pika’s curse, her personality became slightly altered. At times, she can become very cocky in competition, somewhat possessive of something—or even someone—she has her eye on, and very stubborn. Her possession is never towards the person she eyes, as she is against the mistreatment of such person, but directs it towards others that try to “defy” her. This personality change is also how she handles killing people so lightly. But she is highly against harm and abuse of Pokémon and animals. She can even be considered the jealous type, but she doesn’t gain such jealousy easily. Only if she knows that something is going on involving her partner and confirms it that she feels it. These traits can make her what’s known as a Yandere, except she doesn’t exactly show insanity. Yet she seems to possess an interesting fixation on knives…
Pokémon Team:
Greninja, Pikachu, Xerneas, Yveltal, Charizard, Lucario
Abilities:
Pika’s abilities regarding being able to transform into Pokémon are pretty much the same as Annie’s, except she retains her blue eyes in each form. When she obtained her powers, her Pikachu ears and tail that she wore as accessories became permanently attached to her body as their appendages. While she did not learn how to read minds, she can still read auras and also utilizes the skill of reading emotions. Pika’s wings are also artificial, yet with a slightly different composition. She does have the same weakness though: if her wings get ripped or torn up, she cannot fly or use any of her abilities. Pika cannot travel between worlds like Annie can. If she ever needs to traverse between any, she does it through Annie.
Due to the demon powers Pika was cursed with later on, she has some heavier weights. Deep inside her rests a remnant of her demon ex that had cursed her. With a mind of its own and the ability to observe the many situations around Pika through her point of view, its goal is to screw with her mentality by allowing her to lose control when her negative emotions get overloaded. Two main signs are her eyes turning red and her voice sounding deep and demonic. When that side of her comes out, she has little to no control over whatever is happening, and the demon uses her to wreak havoc in whatever circumstance she’s in. Currently, she is in the works of trying to control this power for better gains. Weapon of choice: knife or katana.
Hobbies/Skills:
Pika is a huge video gamer. By the time she set out on her journey, handheld consoles were hugely popular and she would play on hers when she was resting, mainly at night. She also has a huge knack for reading. It was something she would do if she just wanted the type of environment it entailed. She mainly read books about Pokémon species or the history of the regions. She’s not as fluent in Japanese (the closest version of the native language in her world) as Annie is, but has tried to learn it, and knows the basics. Pika wasn’t into the idea of dancing at first, but after helping Annie implement her style into a trick with one of her performances, she became intrigued. After months of practice and teaching, Pika now dances to the music that is better suited for her instead of Annie. Another interest she has is her love for the night sky. She did a lot of stargazing on her journey when she camped out at night. Despite the other changes in her life, she still stuck to the routine of seeing what beheld her in the sky as often as possible.
