Extra mystery thing!!

I have yet to find this in fiction and am not sure if it exists in depictions (conceptkin?) but a fossa-like being with long spindly legs and a long body and impossibly fluid movement and powerful, built back legs. It could think as a human and feel reasoning and somewhat shifted it's form as it ran. It had a long thin tail with spikey fur at the end and it jumped like a rabbit and I am positive that it was me but I have no clue how to describe what it's called (I was shifting for one of my other kintypes and accidentally discovered another I guess??)

Sasha (Ice Shaggy / Lead Streak / Blue Shardflank)

A Gaoler of the Seeker Order currently functioning as a mercenary-for-hire. Most recently commissioned by the High Queen of the Reedcleft Fae Court to hunt down an escaped convict - a seemingly simple task compared to wrangling Shade creatures that has quickly snowballed into an infuriating game of cat-and-mouse as the convict proves to be exceptionally slippery...and obnoxiously glib about the whole scenario.

Skol (Black Piebald / Cream Striation / Fuchsia Peacock)

A solitary Mirror dragon is unusual enough; a robotically-enhanced solitary Mirror wanted by the Reedcleft Fae Court is more than enough to make anyone who crosses this wily convict's path wary. And Skol's hardly forthcoming with answers: no one knows what he's done, why he stays alone, or who was responsible for his enhancements. All that's known is that he takes very little seriously except his own survival. Everything's a game until it's life or death - but once it reaches that point, aggressors are lucky if it's anyone but Skol that gets the chance to walk away.

Do you know much about fox genetics or someone who does? I always found it interesting. On a similar note, do animals who have a white patch (like Foxes, some weasels, Asian bears) as their wild type also get that from the KIT gene or is it something else entirely? Is it possible for them to mutate NOT having that white area, or to mutate more white?

At the moment, no, i don't know about foxes, but i can try to look it up, sounds like an interesting topic. I think @golden-reedwolf had a few posts about it?

So uh, wild type white spots. I don't think there are lots of wild animals with identified genes for their patterns, but I have one example:

The stripes of african striped mouse (Rhabdomys pumilio) are caused by MITF (white spotting gene in dogs, horses and cattle).

Overall I think it's very reasonable that these white patches come from a fixed mutation of one of the known white spotting genes (including but not limited to KIT).

(I got a few comments on my previous white spotting post about how piebaldism is more common in domestic animals because it's detrimental for wild animals and sure, there is truth in this, but these examples you brought prove that there is no inherent harm in white patterns; sometimes it's even helpful, often to the point of being fixed in the population. Calling that salamander in my post severely disadvantaged sounds somewhat ignorant of all the naturally patterned salamander species.)

Perfectly Normal

Ok, Now I need to draw a capybara and a caramel/piebald mouse having a tea party. For perfectly normal reasons. This is exactly the sort of thing I used to do all the time. I don't know WHY I'm having difficulties. But the capybara is so much bigger than the mouse that it's hard to get the composition to work. Hm. Hmmm.

can you review tandemaus (the pokémon that canonically fucks) if you haven’t yet?

I will give the Tandemaus line points right off the bat for being one of the most unique lines of Gen 9. "Two mice that evolve into four mice" is just such a weird concept that I can't help but admire it for sheer audacity.

Visually, Tandemaus looks a lot like little dolls, which is cute and lends itself to the sort of "dollhouse" concept of a doll family with kids. They also get points for being absolute gremlins:

However, something about this design just feels... kind of plain? Like yep, those sure are the exact same mouse copy and pasted twice. I kind of wish they looked at least a little more different; maybe one is just a different brown/gray color (and the babies could be piebald!) or the ears were different shapes or something.

They did try to differentiate the two a bit with one having a "shirt" marking and the other "pants", but the color is so light as to be barely noticeable, and it leaves little visual impact. Also, it feels like the notches could've line up puzzle-piece style to imply to the two go together or something. They're not bad as-is or anything, but they feel a little underbaked.

Obviously I don't have a ton to say about Maushold because it's just double Tandemaus, but those are some pretty adorable babies.

I know some have complained about this evo "not making sense", but Kangaskhan has been carrying its baby around since Gen 1 and people seem fine with that. I just kind of assumed that, much like with Kangaskhan, the babies are too little to be on their own yet and separating them would be bad for the Pokemon, so they're counted as one for battling purposes.

Though with that said, I also prefer to interpret them as "babies", emphasis on quotation marks:

There's also a "family of three" form. No idea what the point of it is and it's not really necessary, but it's a harmless addition for those that like collection can hunt after.

So as a whole, these guys are super unique, and they have a charm similar to that of sylvanian families figures. However, I find the designs themselves a bit underwhelming, and it feels like the designs could've been pushed a bit further beyond the basic "dollhouse" look. Still, they're pretty fun.

Side note: There should be an evo that adds a "pet" to the family that's called "dollmaus". Would that be the dumbest thing ever? Yes. Do I want it anyway? Yes.

Can i just ask. A description of what a bunch of star clan cats have decided to spend their afterlife creating? I find this concept extremely cool and weirdly soothing, so if you have more stuff to say on that point I'd be delighted to read it. I don't want to be a bother tho if it's not something you have right now!!

Oh, do you mean like, examples of the various things they make? Sure!

I keep it loose! The world CAN turn without a StarClan, but StarClan warriors are able to use their power to cultivate the world in supernatural ways. So by virtue of this, most of what StarClan makes is things they want to craft.

Virtually every Clan kitten soul is made by StarClan, because it's very popular and rewarding. There's no shortage of little blessings. Old mentors, grandparents, friends, sometimes they put a little bit of themselves in the newborns, just to remind their loved ones they're watching.

But you could make anything!

Spottedleaf for example makes the things no one else has wanted to craft. She makes colorful leeches, ticks with cleaner mouths, piebald fleas that can't hide in any color of fur...

You could make trees. You could make flowers. You can help toss a few extra pinkies in mouse litters.

Since they're supernatural I don't put too many limits on this, but I do imagine they have to work within reason. They can't make a green cat, but they can make funky patterns. Stuff like that.
