yes! i haven't promo'd it as much because i'm still hoping to get moved to ghost and i have no idea how that move is going to work with memberships, so i'm dealing with my anxiety by thinking about it as little as possible lmao. but an annual sub through my site does still give me more money (with less fees taken out) than pretty much everywhere else

for a while i was making coupon codes to the site available on ko-fi and patreon but they didn't seem to get used much so i just. stopped.

Okay so for the past like. 5 weeks i think i've been on and off working on remaking my neocities site in react and adding some new features and just generally making it better !!

Made a fun lil' demo to test out CSS blending modes. I did it in ~2 hours so it's hacky as shit but it's fun enough to look at for a couple minutes.

Woke up late enough but I didn't let that put my mood down (especially that a longer sleep was probably needed) and got a lot done today! All the housework for tomorrow is finished, my dogs and I enjoyed a walk, I didn't make any physics notes but I thought about them if that counts 😅. I rewatched another episode of The Falcon And The Winter Soldier today with lunch and started making a notebook from spare pages I had! Never done it before and I am encountering issues as expected, but it's going well so far! (we don't talk about that 1 needle I kind of bent...). And also I worked on The Sci Journal website a bit! The 'about me' for everyone who submitted one so far is alsmot finished and I'm making progress with organising the subjects and tags.

Ohrade's Neocities

Today I spotted an artist's site that I thought was just neat! And, I noticed this user is on tumblr too- @ohrade Hi there!

This user makes use of Neocities in a pretty underutilised way, as most artists online prefer to use carrd for their portfolios. Despite that, I always feel that even the most scuffed Neocities page can work as a better portfolio than whatever Carrd can spit out- Though Ohrade's Portfolio site is certainly anything but scuffed!

Entering the Portfolio site, you get met with this wonderful About Page

Immediately you get an excellent grasp of this artist's creative flavour. The paper background is charming, the artwork used for the about section is wonderful, and scrolling down you get met with not just a FAQ but also some testimonials.

Additionally, his art that is on display is very wonderful :) Excellent use of Neocities for the purpose of a readable and charming portfolio that tells you plenty about the artist.

Looking to the personal site-

Oh yeah, I love this.

It comes with a music playlist, which I turned on to enhance my site experience, and when he wrote that the code was messy by god was he not lying. I wasn't able to adjust my window sizing to make it work right in some areas, but hey- I love that. I'm weird like that. I love it when I see scuffed pages of someone just having fun figuring things out. Good luck on your coding journey!

So I've been working on a portfolio website, right? And I had been using GitHub for hosting it publicly.

Found out today that GitHub does Not support PHP pages/dynamic. So.....I either need to find a new hosting site or host it myself.

Given I wanted to host it myself eventually anyways, I might be about to look into how to set up the hardware and configure it. And if I can use an old router to separate it from the rest of my home network, that would be sweet.

I recreated the famous Commodore Amiga "Boing" demo on my website using pure CSS! No Javascript or <canvas> at all, just a ton of 3D transforms and hacky math.

It's sadly not currently compatible with Chromium-based browsers, though, so make sure to open it on Firefox* for it to render properly!

It was a ton of fun and I learned a lot making it~ Pure CSS has the potential to be a valid demoscene platform and I will drag it there myself if I have to, damn it.

*: ...or Safari, I guess, but I have only extensively tested it on Firefox.

oohhh tysm!!! tbh i'm pleasantly surprised that there's quite a few people that see the doctor as aro/ace, particularly ten!! aro/ace ten is really fun because i feel like there's more to it if you dig a little bit into his character, like there is that romantic element ofc but there's also still that strong aro/ace subtext (which i've found out was intentional, thank you david tennant lol) and in some ways making him able to interact w/ romance/sex at all makes him.. less aro/ace in the "he's aroace bc he's an alien" and more aro/ace in the sense of the queer identity itself. so!!

Quick Sims Ramble

I know I don’t post sims stuff on my blog (plan to in the future), but I’ve a simmer since 2017 and I’ve got thoughts.

I still remember some cc creators throwing tantrums bc EA threatened to uphold their 2-3 week (14-21 day) rule for paywalls—and proceeded to do absolutely nothing. Many of those posts from back then are still up btw, you can easily see what your favs think of you and how some of them see you as a walking wallet.

Speaking of cc creators and modders crying over money, Curseforge, why do you continue to use it? It’s been months now since that tweet of Overwolf (CF’s owner) explicitly stating they’re donating to the IDF, so I’m gonna assume most of you have had sufficient time to read about it and understand why it’s an issue. Of course, grace is to be afforded to those who are late to the party, but I think it’s crazy to know what they’re doing and willingly continue to support. It’s got to be the money.

The website ugly and janky as hell, too, so it’s GOT to be the money. 😭

And if money is the problem, doing Early Access via Patreon is always an option. Ko-Fi’s an option. Gumroad’s an option. You got options that actually look good, raise your standards, I beg. And there’s free alternatives such as Google Drive, Mega, OneDrive, SimsFileShare; there’s simmers on this platform right now who are willing to give you a SFS code for free. And what about NexusMods? I’ve seen people post their cc and mods there.

Point is, you got options. So, why are you all acting like deleting your content off one gutterbutt platform is gonna bring the end of the world? All you have to do is release it for free after 14-21 days, and if you do so consistently, people will willingly donate money to support you—because you’ll be showing yourself as a reliable content creator who makes good content they like. You can get your money. CF is not the end all, be all of modding platforms.

So, please stop throwing tantrums and giving fifty-leven reasons why you can’t migrate off one platform.
