Chess at The Muny
(no read more breaks I’m too old for that nonsense)
So it’s not a secret that I love Chess. Florence Vassy is my all-time favorite musical theater female lead. Chess is my favorite musical. I’m so in love with the music, I love the doomed romance of Florence and Anatoly. And some of my favorite musical theater loves (Carolee Carmello, Helen Sjöholm) have played Florence.
I traveled to St. Louis on Friday to see the show Saturday night. I ended up getting a last minute ticket to see the show again Sunday night (because I have no chill and because I’m so in love).
The show was FUCKING AMAZING.
Apart from a few cut verses and altering song order, Chess at The Muny was very similar to the West End / 2008 Royal Albert Hall layout. It was a fully staged show, not a concert, and it was brilliant.
What I absolutely loved was the almost complete absence of a book. Chess has always struggled with a good, solid book, but I really don’t think it needs one. Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus make some of the greatest music in the world - let that music come through. With Tim Rice’s lyrics (and Björn’s assistance - Tim did not write those lyrics on his own) the show is best performed in a rock opera style.
The Muny knew and understood this. Dialogue was brief - some spoken instead of where it had been sung in other versions, some dialogue inserted in just the right place to get the point across - but nothing that relied on a book to move the show forward. It doesn’t need it.
The venue is gorgeous for an outside amphitheater. The stage included a revolving checkered square with stairs and risers. There was a huge screen at the back and two thin screens on either side of the stage. Those were utilized so well - the thin screens showed the hand fidgeting and coughing, etc during Chess #1, while the main screen showed the actual match. There were minimal set pieces - wooden boxes on wheels to be used as chairs / airplane seats / furniture.
The cast was just amazing. Phillip Johnson Richardson plays The Arbiter, balancing the no-nonsense role with the dance moves and swagger that the part requires.
Tally Sessions plays a wicked Molokov, pulling strings and not pulling punches. Rodney Hicks is a perfect Walter de Courcey.
Jarrod Spector was Freddie, playing the petulant man-baby with some legit childhood trauma. His Pity the Child was wonderful - the right amount of self-loathing and pity and bitterness and anger, without being too sympathetic.
Taylor Louderman was Svetlana. I’ll admit that seeing her Saturday night was a little underwhelming for me - I didn’t think she shined as much as I wanted her to with Someone Else’s Story, but she got me with I Know Him So Well, and I thought her performance Sunday night overall was better than Saturday. The back and forth with I Know Him So Well brought things back for me.
John Riddle was Anatoly. I knew nothing of him going into the show. He absolutely blew me away. Where I Want to Be was powerful. Anthem was gut wrenching and gorgeous. And I’m very jealous of him for getting to kiss Jessica Vosk the way he did during the show.
And Jessica Vosk…Jessica Vosk. I knew little about her before the cast was announced, and then I had to go searching for her to vet my Florence. Because Florence is so precious to me, so important.
I knew Florence was in good hands with Jessica when I heard her recorded Nobody’s Side on her album Wild and Free. I was not disappointed this weekend. Jessica Vosk as Florence was EVERYTHING I wanted her to be, especially for my first time seeing Chess live.
Jessica’s Florence was jaded and professional and intrigued by Anatoly and touch-starved and bitter and angry and Nobody’s Side had just enough longing and punch in it.
They shortened the song - cut out the last verse after “never waste a hot afternoon” which meant they cut the long “don’t forget the best will go wrong” rift which is my favorite. But there’s a break earlier which gave JV an impressive vocal rift there - similar to what’s on her recorded Nobody’s Side.
I will always be partial to the Swedish staging of Nobody’s Side - because who doesn’t want angry/hurt Florence drinking and grinding with strangers in a nightclub - but it doesn’t fit in this production. And there’s something special about Helen Sjöholm being the only one to perform that staging - because HS is a dream and I am very gay.
The chemistry between Vosk and Riddle made me all smiling and tingly, and they had two almost-kisses and then a very long intense kiss and the romantic sap in me was very happy.
I also absolutely LOVED having a young Florence and her father in some flashbacks - in Budapest is Rising, in Florence Quits (I believe they were there - it’s getting a bit muddled in my mind). But multiple times where we see a young Florence run across the stage, or being carried by her father, or their separation. Oh it was so good.
The ending and You and I always gets me emotional. Again - Jessica Vosk portrays Florence with all the heartbreak and emotion I need. The repeated “losing my man and getting nothing in return” made me cry, and then I was sobbing during the Epilogue.
THIS is the version of Chess that should be revived on Broadway. It’s perfect as a rock opera. Keep it that way. Add in a little bit of dialogue if absolutely needed. We don’t need the self-defacing humor of the newest Danny Strong book. We don’t need the CIA, or fake Gregor, or sympathetic Molokov. This staging is perfect. This is what I want to see on Broadway.
I wish I could have seen the show 100 times. I’m extremely fortunate and grateful that I saw it twice. And that I got my program signed by Jessica Vosk - so now I’ve got signatures from three different actresses playing Florence.
There’s TikTok videos of pieces of the show floating around. I’d love to get my hands on a proper boot of the show. My phone battery is shit so it wasn’t gonna be me.
It was gorgeous and amazing and thrilling and everything I wanted and I hope to see more of it soon. With a good cast like this, worthy of taking on these roles.

Lute vs Vaggie. Jessica Vosk does an awesome job of portraying how deranged and insanely driven Lute can be. Like this girl is okay with ripping off her arm just to kill one person. And I don't need to gush about Beatriz! What a queen!

The problem with Hazbin Hotspot.
Hi everyone. I’m here to discuss more of a serious issue with AI and the Hazbin Hotel series. Today, I’m going to talk about Hazbin Hotspot.
If anyone doesn’t know what Hazbin Hotspot is, Hazbin Hotspot, it’s basically a channel featuring the Hazbin Hotel characters and is known for posting videos like shower thoughts with characters, unethical life hacks, you name it.
There’s nothing wrong with that, right? It’s just a channel posting about Hazbin characters and talking about the above mentioned topics!
That is where you are wrong.
Controversy sparked about Hazbin Hotspot for their usage of AI. Basically, the actor’s voices are AI generated. Their voices were stolen just to make content.
Amir Talai (voice of Alastor in the series proper) stated on Twitter he’s not comfortable with his voice being used for AI. So what did the person behind the Hotspot do? He stopped using Amir’s voice. HOWEVER, he resorted to using Alastor’s pilot voice. Alastor was voiced by Edward Bosco in the pilot.
Edward also stated he is never okay with those using his voice for AI purposes for characters he has played.
Also, it’s not just Alastor’s voice being stolen. But Keith David, Blake Roman, Christian Borle, Alex Brightman, and Jessica Vosk’s voices are also stolen for this. Hotspot also began to tag Vivziepop asking her if she can use the voices, to which Vivziepop hasn’t responded and it seems clear that she won’t anytime soon. Note that Vivziepop is also against using AI. It is absolutely terrifying to hear your voice stolen by AI, the thing you use every single day.
The person behind Hotspot uploaded a video titled “The Future of Hotspot”. He stated that he will not be hiring voice actors and continue to use AI, which disrespects the voice actors of Hazbin Hotel. He also stated that he will be focusing more on Hell’s Hotspot, a thing which will include original characters.
He also doesn’t give a shit about Hazbin Hotel or anything relating to it, this is just for him to make money. If they don’t want their voices used for AI purposes, then don’t do it, it’s not hard.
If you would like a bit of more information on the situation, I’d recommend checking out AyyLmao’s video titled “The Hazbin Hotel Voice Actor AI Controversy Explained”.
There’s two channels that I recommend, they are 100% voice acted and have no AI usage:
-Hazbin Hotel - VRChat
-Reed Donat
tl;dr - RESPECT VOICE ACTORS AND DON’T USE AI.

Ranking Hazbin Hotel Songs (S1)
I’m seeing people do this on TT, but I don’t like posting on there, so I’m posting my list here instead. Obvious warning, but these are my own personal opinions. I think all of the songs are absolute bangers, but there are some that are better than others, so keep that in mind.
16. Welcome to Heaven
Pretty much the general fandom consensus. It’s not a bad song, and I like Darren Criss as a singer, but it’s too short and doesn’t do a whole lot for the plot.
15. Finale
This might be a pretty hot take, but I’m not that big of a fan of the finale. There are some parts that I like individually, but as a whole song, it doesn’t do it for me. It’s still good though.
14. Hell’s Greatest Dad
I think this one is the one that’s gonna upset a lot of people, but I really don’t vibe with this one. No, it has nothing to do with Mimzy. In fact, I actually like her a lot, but that’s besides the point. I’m not a huge fan of talk singing, and that’s what both of Alestor’s songs are, so they aren’t going to be very high. Not even Jeremy Jordan can save this song.
13. Stayed Gone
Again, I’m just not big on talk singing. I like this one just a bit more because I like Christian Borle’s voice as a talk-singer just a bit more than Jeremy Jordan.
12. More Than Anything (Reprise)
This is a really cute song! I wish we had more Chaggie moments in the show, but I’m glad we got this. It would be much higher, but I don’t like how short it is.
11. It Starts With Sorry
Idk why so many people hate this song. It’s so cute! Charlie’s voice is so good, and I like the lesson Sir Pentious learns. It gives off children’s show song, but in a very good way.
10. Out for Love
Carmilla my beloved! I am obsessed with her. I like how she taught Vaggie in this song. Again, my only real problem with it is how short it is. Idk why they made some of their best songs so short, but I need a longer version.
9. Happy Day in Hell
I am a big fan of introduction songs in musicals, and this is a perfect example of why. It’s a nice way to see Hell, especially through the optimism of someone like Charlie. It’s silly and upbeat, and I like that a lot.
8. Poison
I love this song so much! Blake Roman did such a fantastic job with his performance as Angel. I’m not usually a big fan of this particular type of pop, which is why I have it a bit lower, but I think it fits well with what they were going for in writing this song. It’s absolutely perfect.
7. Whatever it Takes
I need these two to have another duet at some point. Their voices fit so well together. Both of their individual parts are also very solid. All around just a good song.
6. You Didn’t Know
I blast this song at least once a day. My fave part is Lute, and I wish we got more of her singing voice this season. Jessica Vosk is so talented, so I hope we get more in season two. Obviously, Charlie and Emily’s part is also amazing, and I like Sera’s parts as well.
5. Hell is Forever
Ah yes, my favorite Christian rock song. Seriously though, this song is so good. It’s most similar to the actual kind of music I listen to, so of course it’d be pretty high on this list. It’s a good intro to Adam and the angels in general, and it slaps.
4. Respectless
Velvette might actually be one of my favorite characters. She, for sure, has my favorite design of any character, and she might have my favorite female voice as well (tied with Lute). Also, she was so real for what she said to Carmilla. Her voice is just very fun to listen to.
3. More than Anything
Jeremy Jordan is the reason I live and breathe. His voice is literal honey. He and Erika Henningsen harmonizing has brought new meaning into my life. I may not have daddy issues, but I think this song healed them anyway. It’s so cute.
2. Ready for This
I’m a sucker for a good rally song, and this is exactly that. Cannibal Town is also my favorite location of any place we’ve seen, both in Hazbin and Hellava Boss, and I adore Rosie. The cannibals were very funny in this number, and I like that Charlie was able to gain some confidence.
1. Loser, Baby
I’m officially changing my brand to the #1 Huskerdust shipper ever. I’m so obsessed with them. This episode is tied for my favorite with Hello, Rosie! Keith David needs another song immediately, and so does Blake Roman. They sound so good together, and I can’t wait to hear more of them!

BACKGROUND/ LORE
Rory doesn't really remember the early years of their life. They were born as what would modernly be known as Intersex, Not exactly known what gender they were at all. And just as you would expect, society including their parents were not fond of this. It was as if they we're a freak. Not too long after being born Rory's parents seperated, and didn't seem either was keen to keep the child they had created. With a stroke of pure genius abandoning them at a small Orphanage called SmileSide Orphanage; and never looking back.
SmileSide Orphanage mind you, was anything but a place to smile. It was rather poor to say the least and the caretakers for the children were. . .less then kind. The place constantly smelled of old socks and despair, every child there constantly scared stiff by the women who ran the place. It seemed like everything anyone did was wrong. Breath too loud? Locked in the cellar with no meals for 2 Moons. Speak out of turn? Wash out your mouth with soap! And the punishments only got more severe from there. Just like the other kids, Rory hated it there.
However, Unlike most children, they never really were too interested in getting adopted or finding friends at the place. Instead, They spent most of their time nose in a book, they liked non-ficton and learning everything they could. But, Fiction always holds a special place in their heart. More specifically, Mystery series. Rory always loved solving puzzles and mysteries, Figuring out the culprit of the crime along with the main character in their favourite book was always something they enjoyed. As well as reading, they did more creative things as well, Drawing, Writing, tinkering. . .all while Learning as much as they could from the local library and other educational things the small town had to offer.
This went on for 14 more years, along the way Rory eventually growing tired of the same routine. They wanted adventure, something new to discover, maybe a new book to read? They had read almost every one in the library twice for Peats Sake! Eventually, on their 15th birthday receiving a letter at their bedside. It was a rather ominis letter, being addressed to:
Rory Micheal Evan Ebony
432 Creek Road, SmileSide Orphanage
Bed #12, 2nd Floor
Oh. . .okay! This was a bit unsettling. Reading the message, they learned the letter came from "Headmistress Matilda Weasley".or whoever she was. The letter informed them they shall be admitted to a school called "Hogwarts". Apparently they were long overdue to go, 4 entire years late? However, a man named Eleazar Fig, or Professor Fig, was going to be coming to mentor them? They were baffled, yet excited. This was unexpected, uncharted Mystery Letter. And you know them. . .They loved solving a good Mystery. Surprisingly (and conviently) enough not even 5 minutes later a older man showed up at the front door wearing rather Flamboyant clothing. He looked at the child before him as if he already knew them, extending a hand and introducing himself as Eleazar Fig. . .hey it's the man from the letter! Now this? This was the sort of new adventure they've been craving. . . If only they new what the future would hold.
RELATIONSHIPS WITH STAFF/STUDENTS
Professor Fig: Father Figure #1! person Rory was able to trust, and I mean fully trust. They bonded well over the few months before Rory attended Hogwarts, Getting taught about the Wizarding World and its inhabitants. Their bond only strengthened once the whole Ancient Magic ability came about. They were a lot alike, Clever, Sassy, and unbelievably courageous. Fig was their emotional backbone throughout the journey, giving words of encouragement and praise all the way. Professor Fig always cared for Rory as if his own child since the day they began being mentored by him, They acted a lot like Miriam in his opinion, and that's what only made him love them more. He understood them, and even when he didn't he tried to be there either way. As much as they would have rather died then admit it, Professor Fig was basically what They always wanted in their father. A kind man who would support them and be able to trust. If only he could still be here. . .Oh Professor, they're so sorry.
Professor Sharp: Father Figure #2! Rory always liked Potions, and Professor Sharp's class in general. They always found it odd how people hated his class, Perhaps those students were just to weak when it came to "Intimidating" people telling them what to do. The two didn't start to truly bond until after Professor Fig's death, Sure they knew each other and were friendly. . . But that's all it was. It wasn't until Rory was in the Potions classroom every other hour trying to hide from People asking questions about the battle under Hogwarts and Professor Weasley's kind but overwhelming mother henning, the potions professor and the Ravenclaw really started to actually know each other. The two were a lot alike in personality and mannerisms, hell even similar mental issues. To Professor Sharp. . . They were too alike for his own comfort. Professor Sharp always was fond of Rory, as much as it could be hard to see. He admired their hard working, no nonsense ethic that very few others their age manages to possess. Albeit he had chided them one too many times about almost falling asleep in their brews every so often. He almost saw himself in the kid, and to say the least he didn't like that
Self destructive tendencies that he knew WAY too well. After Professor Fig passed he stepped up to be their "mentor" in a sense. Mentoring them to keep helping them understand 4 extra years of Hogwarts magic they missed, as well as maybe get them off the destructive path they were going down.
Professor Weasley: Mother Figure!! Rory always highly respected and admired Professor Weasley. She was unbelievably kind to them at the first moment they met. And continued to be during the school year and even after that. Professor Weasley was just as fond or Rory as they were to her, if not more. Such a hardworking student who seemed to be prepared every step of the way. Sure she was a bit cross they had lied to her for the better part of the year about their ancient magic ability and. . . Extra Curricular activities that could have easily ended their life. But she was mainly just glad they were alright. . . She doesn't have favorites what do you mean?
Sebastian: Buddies. Ever since first day DADA, Rory and Sebastian grew to be close friends. Investigating the triptych and that damned Relic, the two had their own hate/love dynamic. There was only so much tomfoolery and idiotic statements Rory can take before having to "take a break" from Sebastians presence. . . Who doesn't need a break from that.
Natty: Platonic Soulmates, From the First day in class, to the troll attack in Hogsemead, and the many more adventures the two had go on. Natty and Rory were joined at the hip, Close as can be. Natsai was one of the only people Rory could be around and genuinely smile, Making sly jokes and Sarcastic comments back and forth at one another. One of the most powerful duo's in Hogwarts I'd reckon.
Poppy: Close friends. Poppy is more of the opposite of Rory, The sun to their moon if you would. Saving beasts from poachers, Successfully returning a dragon egg to it's mother, and befriending the Centaurus, the two grew close over the school year.
Ominis: Friendly aquaintances, besides trying to stop Sebastian from doing anything too idiotic for the most part Ominis and Rory don't talk much. The two mostly conversate in Professor Binns class, since they are sat right beside one another.
Amit: Best Friends! Amit and Rory are two buddy's who love the stars and it's wonders, when the chance arises the two can be found in the library or in the astronomy tower info-dumping about their own discoveries of the cosmos.
Garreth: Friends! Since the two are both adept in potion making, they mostly bond in potions class. Sometimes getting partnered up together for specific lessons. Thankfully for Professor Sharp, Rory manages to keep Garreth from doing anything explosive when paired together. Sure they do threaten him with a hex that would have him puking up slugs for a few days. . . But then again he has it coming.
Imelda: Rivals to Lovers. Ever since the first Flying race the two had against one another in the beginning of the year, a electrical Rivalry started. One thing Rory never did, was back down. Even so they were always impressed by Imeldas firey spirit when it came to flying, being so passionate was somehow attractive? Rory and Imelda met up every week or so to fly, Even if it wasn't on a race track they would fly along together, spitting firey yet affectionate insults at one another. On the other hand, Rory's competitive spirit and down right determination, not to mention how they could easily clap back and stand up for themself. . .it was one of the reason Imelda liked them so much, to her dismay. No no no! They were NOT apart of her future plans! She doesn't have time for them. . . Does she? No she isn't blushing. . . She has a fever! It's hot out!. . . Ughh
CREATOR/ AUTHORS NOTE! ! !
Hey all! You can call Me Razz, and this is my goofy little Hogwarts Legacy Oc! HL has been rolling around in my brain for a HOT ASS MINUTE and I've seen so many lovely people on here sharing their MC's so it's my turn lol! If you like Rory and want to see more LEMME KNOW I LOVE DRAWING THEM!!

Ranking The Hazbin Hotel & Helluva Boss Songs (because I can)
Tumblr media
Before I even start I’ll say right off the bat that HH has much stronger and rememberable/catchier songs than HB (at least to me).
Like, outside of House of Asmodeus (and Moxxie and Millie’s song that’s mixed into it), Cotton Candy, & Stolas’ song to Via in - I think - the Loo Loo Land episode I can’t even think about any of the other HB songs off the top of my head. And I only really remember Stolas’ song technically, but really I don’t remember the beat or the lyrics or anything, I just remember the visuals and that it was sung like a lullaby. Show wise I do like HB more than HH though.
I’ll say this too, I don’t like how a lot of HH’s songs lead in. The entrances just feel very fucking jarring to me sometimes.
ALSO, I’m only ranking series songs for now, anything released outside of the explicit show canons means nothing to me in this ranking. I’ll include Pilot songs though. Ha, never mind I ended up doing some of the out of show songs too.
Tumblr media
TOP FIVE
Hell is Forever: Has a nice snappy entrance and it makes sense, loved it. I sing this one all the damn time and I know it word for word at this point I can’t even lie. Alex Brightman, enough said (though I do like him as Fizz more than as Adam).
House of Asmodeus: Best HB song in my opinion, but it looses points because there’s not actually an end to the song. I sing this one frequently. Plus, there’s a snappy entrance.
I’ll count Moxie’s song to Millie as a part of this song as well, and while I wouldn’t rate it separately in my top five (it’d probably be right above More Than Anything) as a part of House of Asmodeus I like the contrast 👍🏾. This is just such a sweet song it makes me smile every time I hear it.
Respectless: Another song with a jarring and snappy entrance and I love it. Velvette’s character is showcased well here, and this is really the last we get of her characterization in season one. I love the argument aspect of this song and Velvette’s “Ugh” too, it’s just such an expressive sound of disgust. Lilli Cooper’s voice is just great. I sing this one (both parts) frequently too.
I’m Always Chasing Rainbows: This shit was too good, what the fuck? I get lost in this song it’s so lovely to listen to. It’s just so melodic and whimsical and beautiful.🩷
Stayed Gone: I enjoy Vox’s part the most (mainly from a character standpoint) but Alastor caps the shit off wonderfully and brings a sense of menace that I just don’t tend to feel from his character throughout a lot of the show (outside of when he made Husk cower on the floor of course). Alastor’s laugh at the end is also my favorite of his and his most chilling to me. I sing this one relatively frequently compared to the ones below it but still a good bit less than the others above it.
_
SIX-FORTY FIVE(?)
You Didn’t Know: Especially love Lute’s first part that leads into her and Adam singing together (ie: “Did you forget that Hell is forever?”) because Jessica Vosk ate that, and Emily and Charlie’s lil duet together. The way the song drops off after Vaggie’s revealed to be a former Exorcist also reminds me of the musical cue in POTO when Christine rips Erik’s mask off during Don Juan Triumphant which I also enjoy. I sing this bitch (all parts) all the fucking time. I listen to this one more than I do Stayed Gone, but both songs are fairly even to me ranking wise.
Poison: I like the song from a technical standpoint but I don’t revisit it, I don’t even really think about revisiting it all that much actually. We all know this song does a good job of conveying story no matter how you personally feel about it so I don’t have much to say. Though I will say that I like how this song sounds far more than I like how Addict sounds. Honestly if it wasn’t for the subject matter this song would be right below Crooked, I can’t even lie; like, forget the lyrics and visuals for a second, I just don’t like the music very much.
Finale: The Vees’ part is specifically why this song is placed where it is, and the animation that accompanies the song as a whole as well. Outside of that though while I think Lucifer’s part where he’s holding his hand out for Charlie is sweet and Alastor’s solo part is interesting, musically it’s just not doing very much for me so….yeah. I actually like this song a bit more than Poison, but Poison’s thematic relevance is just greater. Overall the song’s a nice callback and cute enough. Also, if all the Vees had gotten to sing I would’ve ranked this higher.
"Crashin' a Muthaf***n' Wedding" by “Until Further Notice” - Wrath’s #1 “Fuck You Up” Hits: I think this song is better than it has any right to fucking be, but I love it. It just sounds good and fits the atmosphere of Millie’s fight scene so well. Would un-ironically put into a playlist.
The Ballad Of Striker: It’s fun, what else is a woman to say? I’m a sucker for wild west themes and how much Striker hates the song is also a bonus. The song also reminds me of the Old Yeller theme song (ie: “Best doggone dog in the west”). Idk.
I.M.P Commercial Jingle: Apparently I’m also a sucker for a quick little song, but whatever.
Loser, Baby: Roughly the same as my reasoning for Poison, just that this song hits hard with the mixed messaging and just isn’t as poignant at Poison is. I enjoy what the song is trying to say more than what the song seems like it’s saying when you actually listen to or read the lyrics, but it’s also just a fun song to sing along to (I do revisit it more than Poison though). Plus Keith David; what else is there to say after that?
More Than Anything: One of those I felt didn’t lead in smoothly so it felt awkward at the start. The song itself is sweet though and sounds great as it keeps going. Jeremy Jordan is always a pleasure to hear also.
Inside Of Every Demon is a Rainbow: Is fun. Definitely gives Phineas and Ferb vibes to me. I like it. This and Happy Day In Hell are actually mostly at even ranks to me.
Happy Day In Hell: The song’s cute but I hardly think about it, let alone give it multiple listens. The comedic “please tell me she’s not singing again” type part at the beginning was funny too, now that I’m listening to it again. Erika Henningsen (I believe) is singing though don’t get me wrong and I love the change from minutes 1:47 to 2:16.
Oh Millie: I think this one’s just adorable and I love Mox and Mill so *shrugs*. No but seriously even though the pilot isn’t canon anymore this song still captured their relationship nicely.
Till The Day We Die: I like how Moxxie and Millie’s voices mix here, they both sound great, but I don’t love the lyrics or the delivery on some words.
Crooked: I don’t like how some of the lines are sung (I do like most of the song though) but the song itself is far too precious for me to put it any lower than this. Ozzie and Fizz are just too sweet.
Klown Bitch: Sounds like an actual pop song you’d hear on the radio, catchy, and fun so it gets hella points.
Cotton Candy: It’s a fun song to listen back to even if I don’t take much from it otherwise. I think it showcases Beelzebub being the manifestation of Gluttony in a creative way with her being an attentive party host who keeps reminding/encouraging her guests to indulge and drink and eat more and more and to keep having fun.
More Than Anything (Reprise): The song sounds beautiful but I feel like Charlie and Vaggie (the main pairing/ship) deserved a love song that wasn’t just a reprise of the song Charlie sang with her father, and just a longer song in general. I digress though, the song is fine.
Ready For This: I like a good march, but other than that I don’t have very strong feelings about this song. I technically like how supportive Alastor is here, but him actually giving a shit about Charlie is something that feels so forced to me that it doesn’t enhance the song for me that much. Also, I know it’s just the genre of music being the same but this song really reminds me of Star Spangled Man With A Plan from Captain America: The First Avenger.
Out For Love: I’ll say this, it is catchy. I just don’t care about it very much.
Inside Of Every Demon is a Lost Cause: I don’t dislike this song but I like so many other songs more so it kind of gets tossed to the side. I like the execution and delivery though.
You Got The Power: Some of y’all already know what this song will remind me of (The Touch by Stan Bush from Transformers the movie), but either way it’s pretty good.
Monster’s Ball: I’ll be honest I hadn’t even listened to this song until I started making this list, but it’s nice.
Loo Loo Land: I’m so sorry, this song is just so funny to me. Plus Alex Brightman.
Addict: Um….I disliked this way more than I expected to. It’s the music style. Characterization wise I like it I guess, though it doesn’t all translate over to the Amazon series (mostly with Cherri).
Whatever it Takes: I like this song in theory. This song just…starts though, no prep, which I didn’t like, and while the voices involved sound wonderful and the story the song is presenting is useful the song itself is pretty ‘meh’ and doesn’t flow pleasantly to me. I’m sorry. I do like the message though and the “I’ll be your keeper/ I’ll be your armor” lines that Vaggie and Carmine sung back to back were good as hell.
It Starts With Sorry: The song doesn’t do anything for me outside of how it moves the storyline along. Sir Pentious is an absolute drama queen and I love him for that though.
Regular Joe: This is Millie’s first solo song so I hate to put it this low but I just don’t feel very strongly about it. The singing is lovely though.
Look At This: It’s a fun song so I won’t put it too low, but it’s not very catchy and I don’t listen to it more than I have to.
Vacay to Bonetown: Actually a surprisingly nice and chill song considering the subject matter. Pleasant on the ear musically.
2 Minutes Notice: The story is fine but the song just doesn’t do anything for me. However, I do like the triumphant horns that play at the end, so there’s that.
Welcome To Heaven: Shit. Just about forgot about this one entirely. I think that says enough, yeah? It’s fine, I simply just don’t care about it. Everyone sounds good though and Sera singing “I’m sorry you can’t stay” was beautiful and in the context of her character a very sweetly sinister and backhanded thing for her to say that really fits.
Juggling Iz Cool: It’s got some nice rhymes. Fun.
Hell’s Greatest Dad: It’s okay, I think the story it’s supposed to be conveying is stupid though (and just not well set up). When I first watched it I thought Alastor was posturing and pretending to be “like a father” and feeling paternal towards Charlie because he has a superiority complex and wanted to “best” Lucifer or something, and it took until other people mentioned it for me to realize that Alastor’s feelings were actually supposed to be sincere, leading up to this song that is not apparent though, so yeah.
“Gilded Jail” (Stolas’ Song | s2ep1): It’s fine. I like it a little more than You Will Be Okay.
You Will Be Okay (Stolas’ song to Via): Similar vibes to More Than Anything because Medrano loves father daughter pairings. It’s cute but I’m not attached to it and I certainly hadn’t listened to it a second time since watching the episode until I was making this list.
“Teacher Song”: It’s got a nice lil rhyming scheme but that’s pretty much it.
Moxxie’s Bad Trip song: Thoroughly enjoy the Phantom of the Opera-esq visuals and musical nods but that’s largely it. Everything else about the song is just okay. Also the cussing and sex jokes are so excessive it takes away from the song and makes it far less enjoyable (for me at least). Honestly the song just makes me cringe so hard. The story’s nice though.
Just Look My Way: I guess the story it’s telling is nice, but I don’t really feel any type of way about it in any direction. Pretty basic, but it is filled with plenty of yearning.
C.H.E.R.U.B Jingle: It’s fine.
Sweet Victory: Also fine, and just as fast as the Cherub Jingle just less catchy. Striker sounds alright. This song does showcase how much off an asshole he is well.
Everybody Look At Me: It’s annoying (and it’s supposed to be) but I still don’t like it.
Chaz Time: I really dislike this song so...
All in all, I’m glad there’s been so many songs written that I can make such a long list ranking them like this. So thanks to everyone who made the music for both shows even if I didn’t like all of it.

I already know Lute's going to have a bigger and deadlier antagonistic role based on three things:
The most obvious, she's still alive and has a thirst for vengeance against Charlie and Vaggie, particularly (in my opinion) towards the latter given their history and how they're foils to each other.
Her VA, Jessica Vosk, said on her personal Instagram page this: "Wonder what happens with Charlie and Lute in Season 2 of Hazbin Hotel…sure, you’ll have to wait, but we swear it’s worth it." From here.
Following from the first point, Lute is vengeful, and she's shown to have certain bloodlust that briefly caused Adam to freakout and tell her to calm down - If you don't recall, before the extermination, she "hypes" up the rest of the Exorcists by saying to them - "Rip Vaggie's cunt-mouth out her ass!"
She can even prove to be an even bigger threat to the gang - Her vengeance, bloodlust, high and mighty attitude, pettiness, pride and newfound position as being in charge of the Exorcists, she'll LOVE making the lives of her enemies Hell, or even more Hell-like
The only thing left to ponder is WHAT and HOW she'll do the hurting.

podcast anon again. the second i saw you were getting into hh i got excited because i knew you were going to have good opinions by virtue of being a donnaharvey warrior. lucifer being banned from podcasts for feminist reasons is extremely real, bc what do you mean you spent 7+ years dressing up as p.t. barnum instead of spending time with your daughter. like what do you mean you've never met her significant other. do better. vaggie hates his ass and yet alastor is still down there in that hotel every day in a stunning show of freak/lesbian solidarity. like at this point the men of this show should start in jail and have to work their way out.. too many strikes and its public execution broadcast hunger games style. this obviously excludes alastor and sir pentious <3 s2 can also have a storyline where charlie tries to deprogram lute bc anyone who is best friends with adam has strong self-proclaimed darling-of-the-frat-house vibes.
i don’t even really want to add anything to this you are too funny and dialed in for me to improve on what’s going on here. do you know how rarely that happens… love that my donnaharvey laminated stan card is what gave me the pass here.
jeremy jordan cast as lucifer was a stroke of brilliance because my personal unfounded grudge against him made the deadbeat dad vibes even stronger, like wdym you’re tweaking at alastor helping out the daughter you ignored for years….. drop the piano on him again!!!! alastor barely tolerates anyone in hell besides charlie and an assorted array of freakass ladies and THAT’S activism…… dont let the king of hell (who didn’t even know his daughter was gay) get between you and your business partner you’re probably soul bound to protect in some way and will turn on eventually and her girlfriend who hates you
lute is SO hot she needs to be more involved in s2 i don’t care how…. jessica vosk you will always be famous!!!!!! also i am obsessed with the idea that all the citizens of hell are creating their own hunger games scenarios 24/7 like it is murder and crime and debauchery nonstop and all the rings have different vibes & setups…. and then charlie wanders around singing with her big wet eyes and everyone is like There She Goes Again but they love her and Pause as she goes by (need to see her fully hulked out in demon form PLEASE and bonus points if she fights with alastor beside her bc the bodies would stack up so rapidly and the song would BANG)

Ay, y’all-
I’m making a list of voice claims??? I think they’re called??? For the FNF ppl. And I know they technically have voices, and some with actual canon speaking voices (looking at BB, Armaros, and Tabi), but I want to try to pair the fucks with how I imagine their voices, so I am asking upon you mystical people, followers or not, plz help me out.
I already have my picks for (lemme know if you agree or not and why/why not);
GF- Sarah Jeffery (Audrie from Descendants)
Nene- Jessica Vosk (Lute from Hazbin Hotel, specifically when she sings in “You Didn’t Know”)
BB- Jeremy Jordan (Lucifer Morningstar from Hazbin)
Armaros- Christian Borle (Vox from Hazbin)
So, I would love it if you guys could help me pick VAs/song artists who you guys think fit all the others.
If you could, please send an ask with the character, the IRL person who you think fits them, the song/character they appear in/as, and why you picked them for that character :3

Okay, so Vocal Coaches are amazing. They give you personalized advice for singing based on your own voice and it’s great.
However, if you can’t get a vocal coach, it’s possible to learn through observation. This gets a bit tricky since it’s very easy to fall into mimicking other people’s voices, which isn’t healthy/sustainable for most singing purposes. Ideally, you want to mimic the technique, not the voice. Now, a good thing to do when you want to learn new techniques is to find singers who have voices similar to yours and see what they do.
If they have a similar voice to yours, the vocal maneuvers that are healthy for them have a better chance of translating over to you.
You can track them to find more fun songs to sing.
When looking for these singers, match your voice types, vocal timbres, and preferred music genre.
Voice types are: Soprano (High Female), Mezzo Soprano (Middle Female), Alto (Low Female), Tenor (High Male), Baritone (Middle Male), Bass (Low Male)
Some things that describe vocal timbres are: “Bright” (Sounds higher, more youthful. Think 1937 Snow White for high female voices, 1997 Anastasia for lower female voices. The closer it sounds to Spongebob or a Wicked Witch, the brighter it is), “Warm” or “Dark” (Sounds like it has depth, a little more mature. Think 1959 Sleeping Beauty for soprano voices, 1950 Cinderella for Mezzo or Alto Voices. The closer it sounds to a Femme Fatale character or to Patrick Warburton, the darker it is), and there are more but I don’t know the technical terms. If a voice type is a range, then a timbre is the way a voice sounds within that range.
I haven’t heard a song that wasn’t from a musical since 2016, so all my examples of singers are broadway or movie musical stars. I have blind spots. You can find more people using your ears, a recording of your own singing, and a radio/music streaming service.
Soprano or Mezzo - Bright: Laura Osnes (Bandstand, Bonnie & Clyde, 2013 Cinderella), Lauren Worsham (Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder), Lisa O’Hare (Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder), Kristin Chenoweth (Wicked, Candide, Descendants, and so much more), Kristin Stokes (Percy Jackson Musical), Kara Lindsay (Newsies, also Wicked), Caroline Innerbichler (Frozen Tour), Anna Kendrick (Pitch Perfect, Movie Last Five Years, Movie Into the Woods, etc.), Sutton Foster (Little Women, Shrek the Musical, Anything Goes, Drowsy Chaperone, etc.), Liz Callaway (Film Anastasia, Lion King II, etc.), Jessica Vosk (Wicked, Dreamland, more than that), Annaleigh Ashford (Legally Blonde, Sweeney Todd Revival, Wicked, etc), Jessie Mueller (Six, Beautiful the Carole King musical, definitely more), Laura Bell Bundy (Legally Blonde, probably more than that), Sherie Renee Scott (Broadway Last Five Years, definitely more)

Mezzo/Alto - Bright: Caroline O’Connor (Anastasia Broadway), Patina Miller (2022 Into the Woods), Capathia Jenkins (Newsies, might not be an alto), Faith Prince (Original Broadway Guys and Dolls), Ciara Renee (Big Fish the musical, might not be an alto), Susan Egan (Beauty and the Beast broadway, Movie Hercules, etc), Barret Wilbert Weed (Mean Girls, Heathers, probably much more), Eva Noblezada (Hadestown, The Great Gatsby, definitely more), Amber Gray (Great Comet, Hadestown, I’ll bet there’s more)

Either a high baritone or a tenor), Robert Preston (Original Music Man, Movie Music Man,

Bass (There are so few of these in musical theatre and just in general that I can’t split it up by timbre) - Patrick Page (Hadestown, Hunchback of Notre Dame, probably more), Michael McElroy (Dreamland, definitely more than that), that one soloist in “A Rumor in St. Petersburg,” that one ensemble member from A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder.
