This is a very very unfinished thought but I've been thinking a lot as I reread the books about how the women of House of the Dragon don't really get catharsis and how that'll likely be worse in S2. Say what you want about asoiaf but a number of named women there experience catharsis.

They kill their abusers (Lysa, Cersei, Dany). They regain some agency after a violation (Lysa, Cersei, Lady Stoneheart, Dany), and they refuse to forgive the people complicit in their subjugation (Lysa, Cersei, Dany, Lady Stoneheart, Jeyne Westerling).

Obviously, three or four isn't enough in such an expansive cast of characters but the point remains that they claw back their autonomy however they have to. They're allowed to be angry, bitter, unforgiving and cruel to their abusers in a way women in House of the Dragon just aren't allowed. They're allowed grief, grief that is violent and destructive.

The women of House of the Dragon don't get angry. They stand around and stare plaintively at the camera, they cry prettily, and they plead for peace and non-violence. They suffer and suffer and suffer and there's no relief.

I read this fic on ao3 where Mav tells Ice they aren't worth risking it all, because Mav worked too hard to be in a good place and he doesn't want to lose that. And it made me thing. Mav says they aren't worth it, that whatever love they could have isn't worth it and he doesn't regret it. But Ice doesn't stop loving him or resent him for that: he takes all this love and tries to help Mav to stay where he wants. For Mav, maybe, their love isn't worth it, but for Ice? For Ice is worth everything, even years later, when they hadn't talk to each other in years. It's worth it, because Mav is worth it.

I'm just telling you this. If you go to the Koopaling Oc tag, go to latest and scroll down a bit, there is this oc by someone named captain-sharkie, that looks a LOT like Dalex. Both with human and koopa designs. I don't know if you were aware and i don't know if they copied of they made look similar by mistake without realizing, but they look REALLY similar to Dal and I thought someone should let you know if you didn’t already. No, I wasn't aware. But looking at the OC in question, apparently named Dusty, I can see that you weren't exaggerating, they look a LOT like Dal. At least, the human version does.

I'm not gonna run in screaming "YOU COPIED ME!!!1!11!!" though... while the human form is similar, the Koopa form... not so much? The haircut is different, they've got freckles all over (which Dal does not have), not even the shades of purple (hair) and brown (scales/body) match what I use for Dal (and even then that's reversed), and while their necklace has a swirl just like Dal's Shade Sprite, it's very clearly not a Shade/Shine Sprite at all.

I can't find anything about Dusty lore-wise apart from the post you mentioned, where they appear to be apologizing to Ludwig because they don't want "something" to happen again, so no case of copied backstories here, either. Dal's never had to betray Lud out of fear of some unfortunate event, he usually just gets brainwashed or turned into an alien zombie.

I think I'm just gonna play it safe and assume this is a case of "looks similar by chance." It happens.

Plus, from the looks of it Sharkie's only posted... well, that one post. Dusty's design may change again the next time they show up, who knows?

You can’t just do that, that’s pure evil. My mind is just running through all of the possibilities that could happen now-

A big one is how if the hermits were terrified about Scar going vex-mode before, how would they react to coming across him in the middle of a fight? Just all claws and teeth and no coherency.

Probably Cub especially since Scar is only exerting himself more and Cub’s fully aware of what that means.

I really wonder what would happen if the hermits find them in the middle of a fight because they haven’t had the experience of being in a life or death fight. Sure they know how to fight, but a fight in this situation?

Plus them all being hybrids and coming across hunters in general… oh boy

me and link wanted exactly what you're saying here: for the rescue gang to see grian and scar in action in this ruthless world. nobody else back home will be able to fathom it, but these witnesses will have a sliver of understanding of what this world did to these two. :3c

cub's absolutely freaked out by scar's vex form and loss of control. it's scary! imagine how tragic it'd be if scar would push too far and lose himself to vex magic completely. now. now, right in front of the rescue team's eyes. so close to being taken home. everything just. gone. (and top it off with a chance of grian dying too and you have a beautiful tragedy in the making.)

this all just circles back to how this day should be good—great, even!—but it feels so sickeningly precarious anyway. fragile, like it's splintering into pieces. everything was supposed to be okay and instead it's in a desperate, dooming landslide.

i know i just said moash doesn’t want to be good but ACKSHUALLY!!! moash does want to be good but not necessarily morally good i don’t think. he wants to be good for what he is supposed to do. he wants to be useful. he wants to help the singers like kaladin helped bridge four. and like going back to the structure and control thing moash wants to be good and useful to odium because in return it doesn’t hurt and in return he doesn’t have to decide what to do anymore. moash has so little agency throughout the entire narrative and it’s like. how does it not PAIN you all to read this. radical liberator killed a king but he doesn’t get freedom out of the deal. he can’t feel free anymore. at the same time he is resisting being controlled he is seeking it out! he is so so chained.

min yoongi (suga, agustd) hyung-line: short, rapper, has the producer/songwriter/rapping archetype going for him, mostly in black off-duty, pretty cat man, introvert, deep speaking voice, lil bit of a godfather vibe but tiny cute godfather?, stealth fond and affectionate (yes my bias shhh)

jung hoseok (hobi, j-hope) hyung-line: medium height tier, dancer & rapper, distinctive high cheekbones and sunshine smile, laughs a lot but has that dance practice stern face when he's not joking, often indulgent wine aunt vibes, actual pre-debut street cred like rm and suga *just recently went for enlistment

kim taehyung (v) maknae line: shorter but not short, singer: has a husky breathy register out of several modes, it boy and model, princess mode needs care and attention, poor boy made good, emotional (actually they all cry a lot if you go by videos)

jeon junkook (jk, kookie) maknae line: medium tall, main singer: often a clear r&b flavored tenor, "the one with the tattoos" (right hand and full sleeve most visible) and the calvin klein ad, lip-piercing as well now i believe, strong, extremely hip, excitable, good at everything, the youngest and Baby

park jimin (jimin) maknae line: technically shortest, singer: clear high tenor, trained dancer like *whoa*, flirt, smooth and stylish, pretty as a personality trait, maknae gremlin but with hyung maturity (caretaker), abs, falls off chairs (and only chairs? otherwise immune to gravity)

- these are some busy, busy elite-caliber performers at the very top of the game and i definitely am in awe. like the guys who technically aren't "dancers" in the group are still leagues above many regular official 'lead dancers' in skill - as a whole they are just functioning on another level and it is impressive. i understand army a lot more now
