There has got to be nothing more soul-sucking and devoid of humanity than being a "money minded" individual. If all you care about is profit, you immediately lose sight of morality.

Why is it considered immoral for a poor person to refuse to work themselves to the bone, but it's not immoral for the wealthy to squeeze desperate people of every penny they have in order to hoard incomprehensible amounts of money?

Why are the poorest people expected to never treat themselves to a nice meal or something they want, while the ultra rich eat gold and take 15 minute private jet flights guilt-free?

Why are there income caps on how much money a disabled person can save, but not how much money a billionaire can have?

Why is it okay to value a dollar more than a real life human being getting food, clean water, healthcare, and shelter?

How are poor people the selfish ones, when our planet is poisoned and destroyed by megacorps in the name of what's profitable?

Even the most basic expressions of human emotion and experiences are being gutted and replaced by hollow machinations because it's cheaper than paying a real artist, writer, developer, or creative to do the job.

We have enough resources for everyone on this earth to have a decent lifestyle, yet when we ask for the bare minimum we get a finger wagged in our face and told not to ask for too much.

It's maddening.

I work as a medical biller for a fairly rural hospital. Today we got a phone call threat of some kind (no one would tell me what kind of threat).

We had to put this sign on our office door:

My (somewhat) controversial takes about employment in today's world:

1. Requiring a visa sponsorship is evil, scammy, destroys people's lives, keeps immigrants hopeless, anxious, and extremely obedient to authority... and all the justifications for it are utter bullshit. This system is only designed to make it nearly impossible to obtain legal status, creating a high risk for many workers ALREADY WITHIN THE STATE to become undocumented if they switch jobs, are laid off, or fired for stupid reasons (like "poor time management" and it's someone who had a sickness or injury), because it could take YEARS to find another sponsor. The incentive here for businesses? Undocumented workers can be exploited and abused to no limits.

2. Remote or hybrid work is a win for people who either can't commute to their work or need to save the costs of commuting anyway. But it's not the solution for a healthy work-life balance. Working 8 hours in your home is not a life.

3. The work days in a week need to be reduced YESTERDAY because how are millions of people supposed to be happy and healthy when they are legally unburdened by work for just TWO DAYS.

#boycottHarperCollins they are trying to use AI voices instead of actual human beings voice actors and pretend it's for us, so we have more product to have but it's not. It's nothing but greed on their end, I want a world full of artists and real human voices not this.

I know it can seem hopeless but remember "in a capitalistic society, it is the consumer who decides what gets made and who gets to make it merely by giving or withholding their support" AI and greedy dystopian companies can't make money if we don't give them money, hit them where it hurts and boycott and tell them why your boycotting

Capitalism: Separate. Alienate. Induce suffering. Induce disease. Make us depend on the state. Make us believe we are only worthy for our production. Sell us consumables to numb the pain. To inure us to being sold the toxic lie of meritocracy--the guise hiding hierarchy--a pyramid scheme of fascist shareholders weilding the promise of violence (laws) against stakeholders.

Mutual aid: we are all worth the effort. We are worth connection in all it's terrifying, messy, growth. We heal in community. We rupture and repair. People over consumables. We do not help each other out of charity. We are responsible for each other. We are more together.

workers are the true shareholders & must hold themselves accountable, for genocide, ecocide & systemic abuses;

eject the CEOs, managers, HR that uphold the fascist hierarchy;

individuals should not be held hostage by the reliance of income for basic necessities;

people-over-profit can avert the destruction of our modern civilization & a habitable planet;

unionize, whistle-blow, create mutual aid networks; protest, fight;

make it untenable; make it impossible for business as usual
