Mother to Hermes son (But which one?)

What if May was the reincarnation of Anticlea and she kept calling Luke Odysseus and that's part of the reason Luke hates Hermes so much because Luke feels like Hermes only made him as a replacement for Odysseus, (whether Hermes did it on purpose or not is up to you). I also feel like it would be really cool if we tweaked it so Odysseus is the son of Hermes AND his mortal father, (I know it'e been done before in Greek myths where demigods have one godly parent and two mortal parents). It would really amp up the rivarly, espically between Athena and Hermes over whose kid it is and Poseidon and Hermes arguing over the title of favourite grandfather, (Paul won, don't tell them)

Also O!Annabeth who marches towards Hermes cabin with the confidence of a king, because that is his lord father's cabin, whose then claimed Athena and has No Clue what to do with this information.

It would add so much complexity to Annabeth and Luke's relationship, both Hermes favouite sons but one is from a time when their father intervened freely and helped them and gave them drugs to help them beat up goddesses, while the other is from a time where their father can't even talk to them.

i keep seeing people say "omg Percy and Annabeth are Odysseus and Penelope!!!" and i wholeheartedly agree, but then they shoot themselves in the foot saying Percy is Odysseus and Annabeth is Penelope

I say this with absolutely no disrespect, but what the fuck are you talking about???

Which one of them, Percy or Annabeth, has the fatal flaw hubris, which is the exact reason Odysseus was so fucked (he pride led him to reveal is name to Polyphemus)? Which one of them, Percy or Annabeth, plans for every fight THOROUGHLY and CAREFULLY (I know very well that Percy is battle strategic, but let's be honest, it's a 50/50 chance he'll have a thorough plan that doesn't have a large chunk of impulsiveness and vibes)? Which one of them, Percy or Annabeth, is the literal DAUGHTER of Odysseus's patron and mentor?

We all know Percy would go ape shit if anyone hurt Annabeth, but who did we see ready to fight three random people because they didn't know where her missing boyfriend was? Who did we actually see go ape shit because she couldn't find her boyfriend? Who fell from first-ish glance?

On the other hand, who has the more "fight first, question later" mindset (which, for someone who hates Ares and tolerates Mars, he has a very Spartan like disposition)? Who likes to piss people off to get their attention (granted, that's both a Odysseus and Penelope thing, but I'm referring specifically to Percy sitting on his dad's throne compared to Penelope's "if your not my husband, move the immovable bed rq")?

If Percy and Annabeth are indeed Penelope and Odysseus reincarnations (which i do believe they are lol), Percy is so Penelope and Annabeth is Odysseus.

Annabeth as Odysseus. Both too smart, too cunning, with eyes that have seen to much and dreams too big for this world.

She dreams, sometimes, of the raging sea, of bloodied fields and weary soldiers. Of the warm sun and sand of an island that feels like home. When she wakes up, the memories tug at her mind, tantalisingly out of her reach. (When storms hit the shores of the camp, she hears the roar of waves against the beach echoing in the cabin and she hides under her covers, trembling and gasping in a fear she doesn’t understand).

The first time she meets Clarisse, a new camper with wild eyes and an angry scowl she nearly calls her Achilles. (The only one to notice her hesitation is Mr D. He looks pitying for a second before retreating behind his disdainful apathy).

Percy as Penelope. Both fiercely loyal, resilient and strong. To have them as friends, as lovers, is like having a home.

Percy who flinches at smelly Gabe’s voice, who sees other men superimposed with him, stronger, taller, familiar men. He feels dread and determination rise within him. He lifts his chin. Royalty never bows to anyone. (People forget Penelope came from Sparta after all. She has smiles full of teeth and a sword in her closet).

Percy Jackson AU where Luke is reincarnated Odysseus, Thalia is reincarnated Penelope, and Percy is reincarnated Telemachus.

Meeting each other again is the happiest moment of Luke and Thalia's new lives.

Luke and Thalia both loving Annabeth as their daughter, but still mourning the son they think they'll never see again.

Luke, recognizing Percy as Telemachus instantly, is overjoyed and simultaneously devastated because Thalia will never know their son is alive (Luke weeping with joy when Kronos tells him there's a way to save Thalia).

Percy, who's had deja vu regarding the whole missing dad thing his entire life, does NOT recognize Luke as Odysseus and is having a rough time, Athena please help him (Annabeth makes for an acceptable substitute).

Luke, staring horrified at the trident hovering over Percy's head, because not only did he just frame his son for stealing Zeus' lightning bolt, but his son is now the son of his most hated enemy. Luke would happily splay Poseidon's guts out on the rocks again if it meant getting Thalia back. Poseidon who killed his men, who turned him into a monster, stole his son.

This is amazing once again! I love how aggresive Percy is with Calypso. It's like Annabeth is back at CHB terrifed and thinking Percy dead and Penelope!Percy is getting some much needed vengance. And honestly good for them.

UH, 300 words of Penelope Percy after he washes up on Ogygia

Percy was Tired. Like yes physically but also emotionally, mentally, and like deep in his soul. You’d think after everything that’s happened in his life he’d be used to being tired.

However the whole reincarnation thing makes it so much worse. He was a gender confused half-blood whose dad was the man who kept Odysseus from him for like 10 years in a previous life. At least he and Annabeth had finally gotten to talk about… everything. Percy still wasn’t sure if soulmates existed but he was pretty sure he loved Annabeth and always would. No matter what she did, he’d wait and accept her. It felt weird that he was the one who was a constant trouble magnet in this life. He would be teased forever by Annabeth and he knew it. Grover already called him the “Ultimate wife guy” and Percy was only 14. He tried to point out they weren’t married right now and Grover would just laugh and sing song ,”20 years”. That goat’s lucky he is loved.

Anyways, getting shot out of a volcano? Not recommended.

He knew he was on a beach, if he could focus he might even be able to tell you the coordinates, but something was WRONG. His brain was practically shouting at him that it was wrong here.

He knew why after meeting the young goddess on the island.

“I’m Calypso”. She stated looking into Percy’s eyes, and she could pinpoint the exact moment the name rang a bell for Percy because his eyes became storms and he glared at her with so much hatred.

“You. You little bitch.” Came the harsh word’s from Percy’s mouth.

“I’m sorry? Do I know you?” She was so sure this demigod had never been on Ogygia before.

“My name is Perseus Jackson, I am the son of Poseidon, I’m about to be your worst nightmare you husband abducting bitch.” HIs voice was eerily calm. The calm before the storm Calypso thought briefly before Percy summoned a wave behind him, “I lived once before though, My name was Penelope.”

“Shit” Calypso was so fucked.

Rick Riordan loves his long standing romances to mirror Grecian romance myths.

Percy and Annabeth mirror Odysseus and Penelope, how they love each other and Percy was thrown onto the island of Ogyia with Calypso. Even through the wars, he fought for her. He fought Polyphemus. He could never forget Annabeth regardless of what was thrown at him.

Nico and Will mirror Orpheus and Eurydice. They both went to the underworld. Will could never leave without his Eurydice, Nico. He traveled the Underworld and turned around on the stairs to see Nico. He used song to open the stairs of Orpheus. He proved multiple times that he would not let himself live without Nico there. He was weaker than Nico, but he would fight for him. Their love had the approval of the Gods and Hades, in specific.

Honorable mention: Silena Beauregard and Clarisse La Rue. You CANNOT tell me they weren’t in love with each other in the good luck, babe/casual/I wish you were a boy sense. anyways. Achilles and Patroclus. Clarisse who despised most except Silena. Silena who was kind-natured and sweet but still could be strong. Clarisse who was relentless, cruel, strong, and a valiant fighter. Clarisse who boycott the war. Silena who wore Clarisse’s uniform to break the boycott. Clarisse who brutally k*lled others because the one she held most close to her heart died. Clarisse who loved her best friend, Silena.

Fight Little Wolf (Wolves)

The idea is that Jason is Telemachus reincarnated. This would make the beef between Percy and Jason on the Argo hilarious because it's like Jason's version of a teenage rebellion but also Jupiter having to deal Poseidon claiming Jason as his grandson. Because obviously any version of Poseidon's son is his son even if it's before his son exsisted. (He still refuses to acknowledge Odysseus as his son-in-law)

Athena is cooing over having her nephew/little brother back. Hermes and Poseidon are arguing over whose grandson Jason is.

Jason does not want to be anybody's grandson. Jason gets no say in this.

The best part though is when Annabeth and Jason are stuck in CHB for months while Percy is in his coma. Jason/Telemachus finally understands how his dad felt the entire time he was away from them. Annabeth/Odysseus doesn't understand why they can't just have their family together for one day, please.

Percy keeps hearing about this Jason dude at CJ and something about him makes a shiver runs up Percy's spine. Percy (incorrectly) identifies this as hatred. It is infact Penelope just being really upset that people keep forcing responabilites upon her son.

Because of this Percy is kinda hostile towards Jason when they first meet. Jason (who is excited to see his mother, the woman who raised him, who protected him from the suitors and who he protected in turn, the only solid presence in the first twenty years of his life) totalty doesn't break down crying when Percy gives him a slightly unimpressed look when they first get to New Rome, Why Would You Say That?

Neptune is really confused on when he got a grandson but is also will to fight Mercury over grandparental rites just for the lols.

Athena is planning on duking it out with Hera for mentorship rites.

I also have the feeling Hera really likes Penelope, who in Hera's opinion is the perfect mortal wife, so she is willing to co-parent Jason with her and just cut Zeus out of the equation entirely. Hera is not willing to share with Athena.

Odysseus!Annabeth is not willing to share with Hera who not only kidnapped Percy but also used magic to force Jason to be with Piper cheat on Reyna. This all reminds Odysseus!Annabeth way to much of Circe and Calypso and, just like everything else in her and Percy's lives, is giving the poor girl war flashbacks.

(I don't know whether or not Reyna and Jason were actually dating before Jason was taken but I think it would be funnier if they weren't and Odysseus!Annabeth is just desperatly projecting while Jason is despertly projecting becasue I just got you back please don't piss off another major olympian we're demigods I won't survive the ten years it takes for you to get back home)
