Ahhhh so I have to admit I have been working on something, it's a very big project for me.
It's 30 000 words long as of now, and I estimate to be about 1/2 - 2/3 of the way through the story. I'm super excited about it, however I don't want to get to a point where I'm almost done and don't finish, which is why I am writing it so much.
I want everyone in the kyalin Fandom to be right there with me when it's ready. So I'm going to do my best to finish it before I start posting.
How would I describe it???
A Kyalin mystery slowburn
Here's a snippet from Chapter 3 (spoilers ahead)
“Here,” Tenzin said, passing Lin a notice.
“So secretive,” Kya joked, pretending to lean over.
“It's not that secret,” Tenzin said, “two more came forward getting letters, bringing the total to-”
“Forty-nine.” Lin finished. The names added to the list weren't familiar to her. An Earth Republic mayor, and a fire nation general. “Something tells me there's one more out there,” Lin said.
“You think? An even 50?”
“Stopping at forty-nine would be good thinking on their end,” Kya said, “I mean, it would have everyone worried over the 50th letter, which doesn't exist.” She elaborated.
Lin raised an eyebrow, shrugging it off.
“What are the odds they get out anyway?” Kya asked.
“You mean the dirt?” Lin clarified.
“Yeah. Are the threats… real? Do you think they actually know something, or is it… broad enough to make yo- people think they did something.”
“Well we've bounced around that idea for a while,” Lin said, “but I think the general consensus was that… they were a little too close for comfort.” She looked to Tenzin, whose harrowing eyes reflected the anxieties of her own.
Her own letter bounced around in the back of brain, waiting to be unpacked. She had divulged so much into dealing with the case, and worrying about Suyin, she hadn't put much thought into how she would deal with the information revealed by her letter.
What she would do.
What she would say.
She didn't inherently think she had anything to be ashamed of, but there were plenty others who wouldn't see it that way.
It would be career ending, perhaps enough to chase her out of town in search of a fresh start.
If Suyin was still alive, Zaofu could make for a nice retirement place.
“Excuse me for a moment,” she said, getting up. She made for the bathroom down the hall, but instead opened the window at the end of the hall.
Delicately, and with precision, even in her wine-induced stupor, she climbed outside, hanging onto the ledge.
She'd done it a thousand times in her teen years. Scaling the air temple had been a right of passage, and a necessity, when she was with Tenzin.
It was second nature to her as she hauled herself to the upper floor.
Luckily, the window wasn't locked and she got back inside with ease.
She walked quietly down the hall, praying she didn't wake the kids. It was as she remembered. Almost nothing had changed, and a strange wave of deja vu overcame her.
It ended when she entered the left door, and not the right.
Kya's room was one she hadn't been in much, especially as she got older. It looked as she had envisioned. It was tasteful and colorful. Lin envied her ability to pick out pictures and tapestries of varied colors, still managing to make them go together.
First she checked the nightstand, which had a lot of interesting things, but nothing she was looking for.
She checked the duffle bag on the chair, nothing but clothes and towels.
She sighed, looking around.
She noticed the bed was lifted slightly off the floor. Tenzin used to keep… stuff under his bed.
Perhaps these airhead all thought alike.
She got on her knees before laying herself gently onto her stomach.
She outstretched an arm under the bed, feeling around until her palm landed on a box.
She pulled it out, and allowed herself to stand up before setting it on the bed and opening it.
The unmistakable waxy green seal.
The inky handwriting on the back with a clear name designation.
The clear indication that it had been open and removed multiple times.
She held it in her hand, her fingers frozen.

Deep Seated Pt 1
A/n: Just world-building n such initially I was torn between a nonbending reader or an earthbending one, but I think this will work better overall. I’m giving the reader typical earthbending traits like green eyes and dark hair btw. Hope you enjoy! Likes and reblogs are appreciated <<3
Summary: You stray from your typical day-to-day schedule in hopes of finding inspiration.
Warnings: none
1.5k words
You stretched your arms above your head, sunlight dancing on the floors in your room. You sighed, pulled your blankets off, and began to get ready for the day. Your day usually follows a schedule: get up, dress, eat in the dining hall, meditate, and then tend to the greenhouse. Once you put on your robes, you went down to eat, greeting the acolytes on your way. You sat in your usual spot, near the balcony and started to eat. You loved sitting as close to the outside as possible, there was something liberating about it, you didn’t know what.
Your siblings bound into the room, loud and boisterous, and settled next to you.
“Good morning!” they chanted.
You smirked, “it is.” That was your usual response, you loved the dance that was what every conversation would be.
“You doing the usual today?” Jinora asked, they all had your schedule figured out.
You shrugged, “you know it.”
“You don't want to shake things up?” Ikki asked, pressing her palms into the table and leaning towards you, “shouldn’t you have a boyfriend or something by now?”
“Oh no,” you laughed, “What would dad say about that?”
“He’d probably be relieved that you finally got friends other than us!” Meelo said, “He’s always saying stuff like that.”
“What? No, he's not Meelo!” Ikki said. You felt a pressure settle on your chest. You’ve grown accustomed to it, it was technically always there but you felt it get heavier every time someone’s expectations of you were mentioned.
You said nothing and continued to eat while Ikko and Meelo were arguing. The conversation resumes its dance, you smiling while finishing your food.
“Have you guys been learning cool stuff in your airbending training?” you asked, waiting for them to finish their food.
“Not really,” “No,” Ikki and Meelo groaned simultaneously.
Jinora scoffed, “They only want to fight and break stuff.”
“Well, that's the cool stuff,” Meelo sighed, dramatically.
You chuckled, “Well, air nomads are known to be peaceful, there’d be no reason to fight.”
“Grandpa Aang fought,” Ikki added, perking up.
“He doesn’t count, he was the Avatar,” you said waving your hand.
“Dad can fight,” Meelo said.
“How do you know? Have you seen him?” you asked.
“No, but I know he can!” Meelo shouted. You smiled and hummed, you knew he could too, it was just fun getting under their skin sometimes.
“Are you all done?” you asked your siblings at the table. You got variations of yes as you picked up their trays. You got up and went to wash them. Once you finished, you went to the mediation pavilion to meditate. Usually, your mind rarely strayed but now you couldn’t stop thinking about what Ikki said, you kept to that same thing every day and in all your 16 years you haven’t done anything particularly notable. You thought about things you wanted to do and to say the list was short would be an understatement. And the more you thought about it, the sadder it became to you. You reeled your mind back in, trying to return to your peaceful mindset for a moment.
Slowly your mind drifted back to the topic, you began to think of things that could inspire you. Of course, going to the city was one of the only things your mind went to. But you couldn’t, when would you? The ferry only comes between dawn and dusk. Though surely Dad wouldn’t notice, or mind for that matter. Before you could continue thinking about this you stood up and decided to go for a walk.
You wandered the grounds, actively avoiding the Airbending area where you knew your father and siblings would be. You found yourself headed toward where your mother should be, and though you were nervous you didn’t stop moving. You knew Pema and Tenzin weren’t your parents but ever since they took you in, they treated you like their own. You weren’t sure your siblings were outright told but you figured they knew.
You took a deep breath and went to find her. You slid the door open and she was kneeling on the floor, breathing deep in meditation. You slid your shoes off, a habit you couldn’t recall but couldn’t shake.
The door clicked shut behind you, she opened her eyes and smiled, “Going off script today?”
You returned her smile, “Yeah, something Ikki said got me thinking.”
“Are you taking notes from a troublemaker?” she smirked, raising her brow and chuckling.
You sighed with a smile, “You make what I’m about to say sound like a bad idea.” She tilted her head and waited. “I was thinking about how I always follow this schedule and how I haven’t really gone out and done anything. And because of all that I don't have anything I want to do. And that just scares me a bit.” You looked down at your hands in the pause of your rambling, “So what the point of that was, I’m wondering if sometime I could go out and explore the city?”
You slowly lifted your eyes to hers, keeping your chin down, and you were met with a smile, “Of course, I think you should go out and find something that drives you. And if you think the city is where you can go find that then you should go. But this is something we should talk about with Tenzin, though I see no reason for him to think you shouldn’t go.”
You smile and fall to your knees to wrap your arms around your mom, “thanks! I’ll talk to him in a bit!” You released her and left, sliding your shoes back on, and closing the door behind you. You eagerly walked outside, pausing to think of the best time to ask him, settling on waiting until he was done training the others. You resumed your schedule, heading toward the greenhouse.
The greenhouse was one of your favorite places to be, the radio was set on low and people talked in hushed tones as they worked. Sometimes if you were there after sunset, you could hear pro-bending matches go on. Unfortunately, you made this discovery recently and haven’t found more time to listen. You quickly did your work, anxious to ask your dad the question. In your haste, you bumped into one of your friends, knocking the empty pot he was holding onto the floor.
“Woah,” he said, stumbling.
You caught him by his arm, steadying him, “Sorry, I was in a rush.” Both of you knelt to pick up the pottery shards.
“It’s alright,” he said smiling. Saamol was about your age, with a round face and dark brown hair that stuck out at odd angles. Both of you worked in the greenhouse at the same time. “It must be important if you’re not paying attention.”
“It is,” you smiled, sticking your hand out, “I can take these to be fixed.”
He shrugged and handed you the pieces, “what is it?”
You stood and smirked down at him, “Well I can't jinx it, can I?” He sighed, smiling, and stood up. “Sorry again, I have to go though, bye.” You waved and left, stuffing the shards in a pouch you carried for this exact reason.
You got to the airbending arena just as Tenzin was letting your siblings go. Meelo and Ikki ran up to you, telling you exaggerated versions of what they learned, while Jinora hung back to talk to your dad. Before your mind could dwell on it, you smiled and focused on your siblings.
“Did Dad finally teach you some fighting moves?”
“No, but we spent more time in the bamboo gates! We had a competition to see who could be in the longest.” Meelo said, waving toward the gates.
“And if he hadn’t been cheating I would’ve won!” Ikki pouted.
“There were no rules! Only winning and losing!” your brother cheered running off, Ikki chasing after to scold him.
You shook your head with a smile and turned to Jinora and your Dad who were walking toward you, “I’m guessing you won?”
Jinora smiled, “No, his ‘cheating’ unfortunately affected me.” You smiled after her as she followed her siblings, leaving just you and your dad.
“Did you have a nice day?” he asked, walking with you toward the dining hall.
“Yeah,” you shrugged, “same as usual. Did you?” He smiled and nodded. You stopped walking and faced him, “I was thinking, you know, I’ve never really been to the city and I was thinking it would be an interesting place to visit and explore…” He raised his brow at you, “I heard they have good food there too! I was just wondering if I would be able to go some time.”
He sighed and shook his head, “You should know by now, that that place is full of distractions and dangerous people. Your time is better spent honing your skills here, instead of finding negative influences there.”
You frowned sagging your shoulders, “but air nomads are supposed to be travelers! Learning from different cultures to have a better understanding of others!”
“The city is not a good place to learn from,” he said with an even tone, “the city has more bad than good to offer.”
You felt your heart begin to race from the injustice of it. The way he spoke like his words were fact, “but-”
“No buts! You can’t go to the city and that's final!”

It's deliciously fucked up to think about.
Tenzin gets all the praise for continuing the line of airbenders.
Two NON BENDERS are the parents of this child.
The Pemumi age gap 💀 (we know Pema doesn't care. She likes a sad older man).
Bumi thinks his legacy is just his career when it's also an airbender who mastered her element at the age of eleven years old.
The implications that her spiritual prowess came from Bumi and not Tenzin.

Fluffcember Day 09: Of Secrets & Gifts
Today's prompt for my very own Fluffcember challenge was Handmade Gifts.
Fandom: The Legend of Korra
Shipping: Korra/Asami
Genre: Family Fluff/Found Family
Length: 1819 words
[Ao3 Link]
Tumblr media
“Argh.” Once again Korra had somehow lost the stitch, with part of her – err – master work unraveling.
This really could not be. She was the Avatar for heaven's sake, how could this be so hard? And yes, she was well aware that being the Avatar did not automatically make her good at everything, but still. This sucked. Hard.
She chucked the bit she had managed so far into a corner of her room and groaned.
The door was slid open – without knocking, of course – and Meelo looked inside. “Everything alright, Korra?”
She looked at the boy and gave a long sigh. “Everything is fine, Meelo.” Last thing she needed in her life was him making fun of her. Yeah, no. She… She somehow would get this done. She had an entire other week, right? And it could not be that hard. Other people had managed it before and so would she. Right.
Meelo gave her a side-eye before slowly, very slowly sliding the door shut.
Korra waited for ten seconds. When he suddenly slid open the door again, she was not impressed. Their eyes met and without another comment he closed the door again before his steps sounded on the floor outside.
Only now Korra collected her little crafts-project from behind the bed and started counting stitches once again.
***
It was not going better on the next day. The fact that she had spent most of the day trying to catch a spirit that for some reason or another had decided that to make everyone in Republic City feel nice and warm this winter, it would set houses on fire. Not cool. Even though most fires had thankfully been managed in time thanks to help from local Waterbenders.
Now it was evening and Korra was tired, but she needed to finish this before the next weekend. Because that was, when she would've her date with Asami, who right now was in the Fire Nation, introducing the new Satomobil to the big cities. It was a press tour, really. And Korra had to finish this until she returned. Not because it was necessary needed – but because she had decided this was to be done.
So she was counting stitches, once again, when more footsteps on the floor made her pause. “Korra?” a voice asked from outside, allowing her to hide the project underneath her pillow.
“Yeah?”
It was Jinora, of course, gazing at her with a strange look in her face. “I've the feeling you're hiding something.”
“I am not,” Korra protested. “Why are you here?”
Jinora watched her, bobbing back and force on the balls of her feet. “Actually, dad was asking for you. Something about…”
Korra groaned. “A fire spitting spirit?”
At this the oldest sibling grinned. “Yeah, that.”
***
By now Korra was of the firm opinion that this was not craft but freaking magic. Because somehow all this stupid thing wanted to do was unravel. Maybe she really was just bad at this. Real bad. So bad. Even though she had never been as bad with other craft things.
Yet, she started to dread the day she was going to chisel a proposal pendant for Asami. Which was… Argh. She really did not want to think about it. They were dating for three years now and at least Kya had been razzing her about it from time to time.
But then she would've to talk to her parents about it and have to explain it and things would get public and it would be so complicated for both her and Asami and really…
“Korra?” A voice asked from outside, as the door was opened once again without waiting for her reply. By now Korra was more or less certain the kids just wanted to catch her in the act of whatever they thought she was doing. It was Ikki this time.
Korra sighed. “What can I do for you, Ikki?”
The teenager side eyed her. “Nothing in particular.”
“Then what are you here for?”
A non-committal shrug. “Nothing in particular. I just wanted to spend time with my favorite Avatar.”
“I am the only Avatar.”
“True, but still.” Ikki came into the room, looking around as if to find something in particular. “So… What are you doing?”
“Meditating,” Korra replied – maybe a bit too quickly.
“You hate meditating.”
“Not true.”
“It is true,” Ikki insisted.
“I am the Avatar.”
Another shrug. “I am just saying.” She now looked behind Korra's back, before side-eyeing her once more.
Korra could barely stifle an annoyed groan. “I actually am meditating, Ikki. And… Actually… I… Have important meditating business to attend to. So if you would please…”
The girl frowned at her. But in the end, she left as well.
***
One day later and Korra was back to square one. She really should've opted to buy something. But buying something just did not feel personal, did it? She was frantically counting the stitches, as the door was opened without warning. Only thanks to her quickly reflexes she managed to hide her little project behind her back.
This time it was Rohan, looking at her from those big eyes. “Korra!”
“What is it, Rohan?”
The 7-year-old looked distracted, his gaze wandering down the corridor outside her room. There was one of his siblings there, no doubt. “Ikki said…”
Someone hissed a “Ssssh” in the corridor.”
“Err,” the boy muttered. “I mean… Uhm… I…” He managed to force a grin onto his lips. “How are you doing, Korra?”
“Fine,” she sighed, wondering what she had to do for those kids to leave her alone. "I am doing fine."
“Do you wanna play with me?” he asked.
“I…” If she said no, the next kid would be up in her hair within an hour, right? So she sighed. “Yeah, sure. Go outside. I will be there in a few minutes.” After she had properly hidden her little project for the other kids not to find.
***
Alright, admittedly, going to the stables might've been a bad idea. It was harder to count stitches in the twilight here. Made only harder by Lefty sitting by her side, attentively watching her work. Whenever he breathed out, she almost lost some stitches again.
She looked at the bison. “Do you mind?”
Of course, the bison stared wordlessly back at her. What was it supposed to say after all?
She sighed. She would never get this finished before the day after tomorrow. Whenever she managed a larger chunk, something would unravel again and she would have to start anew. How was she so bad at this? (The truth was, she got distracted by the monotony of it all and then lost a stitch or two.)
Maybe she should just give up and buy something. After having fled to the stables to keep away from those nosy kids.
Focusing on her work again, she somehow did not hear the steps, before the voice addressed her. “Korra? What are you doing here?”
Looking up she stared at a confused Tenzin, who was holding a lantern in his hand. His gaze was fixed on her little project – and the wool that clearly showed to have been unraveled in the past.
She cussed in her thoughts before grinning at him. “Nothing?” But of course she knew she was busted already.
***
“You need to focus,” Pema reminded her, when Korra's gaze started to drift again, calling her attention back to the scarf she was stitching.
Korra sighed. “Thanks.” After being busted by Tenzin, Korra had agreed to let Pema help her – and be it just by showing her the ropes of it all. Really, Pema seemed to be good with all sorts of crafty things – and with cooking, of course. It was only thanks to her that the scarf was by now about two feet long.
“You really get easily distracted,” Pema said.
“Well, when you work you do not pay attention to it anymore.” Korra was still staring at those stitches.
“Yes, but I am doing this kind of stuff since forever,” Pema said and put one hand onto Korra's shoulder. To keep her company, she had started to weave some fabric as well. She, of course, was not even looking at her loom, as the shuttle glid back and forth through those fibers. “I promise you, on your tenth shawl you won't have to pay that much attention either.”
Korra could not help another sigh. “I hope this stays the only one.” Even though the thought of “Avatar made shawls” crossed her mind. If people would pay money for that?
“Well, then you'll have to stay focused on just this one,” Pema offered. “Just think about who you are doing it for.” With that she winked at her before turning towards the loom once more.
Yes. Right. Asami would return tomorrow in the early afternoon. She needed to be done by then.
***
The hanger by the Sato Industries halls was busy on this day. No wonder, given that Asami was returning. While her wares had been shipped with an actual ship, she had opted to travel by airship, which was just about to land. Korra could not help but feel a bit giddy, as she held the paper bag close to herself. She was giddy about finishing the scarf – but giddy about seeing her girlfriend once again, too. Sure, Asami had only been gone for two weeks, but somehow even after three years those two weeks had felt like forever.
When Asami stepped out of the airship, Korra could not help but race towards her, pulling her into a close hug. “Gosh, I missed you,” she whispered into Asami's ear, as the later put one arm around her as well.
“I missed you, too, my dear Avatar.” There was a teasing tone in her voice.
They broke apart, to at least keep it somewhat professional until they were alone – though really only that long. As soon as they sat in Asami's car, Korra could no longer hold herself back. Once more she pulled Asami close, kissing her longingly.
When their lips parted, Asami smiled. “Did you miss me that much?”
“You have no idea,” Korra replied and could not help but grin like an idiot. Then she remembered her present. “I actually made something for you.”
Asami raised an eyebrow. “For me?”
“Yeah.” Korra handed her the bag.
For a moment Asami blushed, before realizing what it was. “A scarf?” she asked with confusion.
Korra chuckled. “Yes. Well, you said the south pole is too cold for your taste, so I thought… This might help a little.”
Even now Asami seemed to not understand.
So, Korra put her hand on that of her girlfriend. “I… wanted to ask you to come celebrate the winter solstice with us. Down South. You know?”
Understanding was showing on Asami's face. Her smile grew softer, as she leaned forward to kiss Korra's cheek. “I'd love to.”

Hukki for the wedding ask
Hmm, this is a fun one.... these two would not do anything the traditional way.
1) These two don’t really date, or at least, not for very long. Neither of them sees the point. They already know each other, and know that they’re compatible, why beat around the bush? They probably get married within days or weeks (a couple of months, max) after they get together.
2) They elope. Obviously. Not because they’re worried about what their families will say or anything like that, but because they want this to be private, to be theirs, before their wonderful but sometimes overbearing families get involved.
3) Nobody even knows that the two of them are involved until they suddenly show up one day, and it’s like, “yeah, by the way, we got married.”
4) Everyone is completely shocked-- except Pema. Pema’s known for years that those two were endgame. (She’s smart like that.)
5) Tenzin kind of freaks out a little bit. He had years to get used to the idea that Jinora would eventually get married, but Ikki had never seemed interested in that sort of thing-- he thought he’d have more time. (Not to mention that he doesn’t really understand what she sees in her new husband-- not that he has anything personally against Huan, he just finds him.... strange.) (And why is Pema laughing right now? What about this situation is so funny?)

Idk if you've watched tlok but if u have what are your thoughts on pema/pema x tenzin?
I feel like a lot of what ppl say about tlok katara more fits her. Yk the her being reduced down to a only a mother and being a one dimensional chartacter.(obviously she not as big of a character as katara or tenzin but still)
Also how do u think katara/pema relationship would/should be like being mother/daughter-in-law?
I really don't like pemzin, or Tenzin for that matter. It was a doomed premise from the start. The story of pemzin is:
Tenzin dates Lin, a woman who doesn't want children
After realizing Lin isn't going to budge, Tenzin breaks up with her
Tenzin then begins dating Pema, a much younger woman who basically views him as a god
Pema then spends the rest of her pre-menopausal years pregnant
So yeah it's really hard to get behind that for me. I think what makes Katara more of a shame is that she is shown to explicitly want something different from what canon gave her, and her character in TLOK plays into the idea that being gender-nonconforming is something that women are supposed to grow out of rather than embrace, not to mention that she was a main character in ATLA. I think both are worthy of criticism.
As for how I think Pema and Katara's relationship would be, I think Katara is obviously a kind person who would want to know the mother of her grandchildren, but there would always be a disconnect. Despite being Katara's only biological grandchildren, they have no interest at all in her culture and Pema and Tenzin clearly only value their Air Nomad roots. Katara isn't the type to say anything about it, but I think it would be upsetting to her.

Tenzin and Lin were probably going to break up (they have opposing personalities and different dreams I get it) but Pema should NOT have confessed her feelings! It doesn’t matter if a couple is about to break up or fighting it’s no one’s place to position themselves as the “right person” or “soulmate”. She makes her story sound like a fairytale when it was very wrong! If you have feelings for someone and they’re in a relationship you should back off! If they were soulmates she should have waited until they broke up and then confessed. She encouraged Korra to do the same which is just as wrong.

A Korra x fire princess please. 🙏
Maybe R is apart of the team but no one other than Tenzin knows about her being the princess of the fire nation for security reasons whilst she’s not in the fire nation. Though when trouble arises in the fire nation capitol, team avatar is needed… how will this play out?

‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “That’s not fair!” the avatar’s voice was heard all over the place, back planted on the floor while you were sitting over her waist to pin her down completely. Her hands removed the piece of cloth over her eyes and when blue eyes met yours, Korra smirked. “Okay, maybe it is fair, I like this view.”
Funnily, your eyes rolled and a second later your legs were moving to stand up. Korra made an offended noise before taking your legs to pin you as you did with her.
‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “Hey! We already finished training, missy!” over giggles, you said, tapping her thighs softly to try and make her move. “You were the one saying how great of a bender you were with your eyes closed.”
‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “Yeah, but I am certain you were cheating somehow.” Korra’s face got closer to yours, her unstable breaths mixed with yours. “You owe me for that.”
‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “Do I now?” the question came in such a low voice that you were sure that it could totally not be heard by the girl, but she did and was so enthusiastic to give you her answer when the sound of a male tone clearing his throat made you two look up.
A very serious Tenzin met your gaze, Korra was quick to stand up and help you in the way. “Tenzin, hi! How can we help you today?” she spoke for the two of you.
‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “We have a situation and the Fire Nation needs you,” gray eyes were fixated on you when naming the nation and then moved to the avatar. “Well, they need the whole team, actually.”
As the master airbender went on to explain the situation, your mind disconnected completely from the conversation. You didn’t feel ready… No, you were, in fact, not ready at all to face the royal family again.
Truth being told, there was totally something Korra didn’t know about you: you were the princess of the Fire Nation who for security reasons had fled the palace after being threatened alongside the young crowned prince, Iroh, to death by a noble family wanting to take control over the succession line on the throne. Iroh was safe on his own, he joined the United Forces just in time and there was no way they could get to him while being a general, but you? You had to change entirely, from appearance to personality. A younger you was scared, but somehow excited; it was like acting in a play, no? You had always wondered how it would be to be an actress and destiny gave you the opportunity in such an ironic scenario.
The royal family trusted Tenzin with your safety and they made the right decision, the airbender and his wife had adopted you as their own telling everyone how you were Pema’s niece who, due to unfortunate events, was an orphan and not a single soul thought of questioning it. Back at the Fire Nation, the royal family had said how they were keeping the princess safe from any threat, but that was all they extended to the population. Every now and then you heard rumors about how the princess was probably dead by now, how the royal family had locked her in her room or how they changed her for a commoner to ensure her life and just one theory had come close to what really happened. Since your appearance had changed to such a point that even Iroh took his time recognizing you the first time he visited, no one knew you were the lost princess, it was even more difficult now since you grew and your teen factions had started to fade away.
‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “You go ahead, sweetie, I just need to talk with my uncle about some things.” you answered when the avatar asked you if you were going with her to tell the others the plan.
Her head nodded and she gave you a small peck before leaving the gym. “See you at dinner, then!”
Both sets of eyes followed the southerner, once you made sure she was gone you turned to Tenzin. “Have you told them?” you were quick to ask, concern painted over your face.
‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “No, Your Highness.” he shook his head, a small grimace started to show on your face.
‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “Tenzin, I have known you since I was eleven,” crossed your arms over your chest. “I told you there’s no need to call me ‘Your Highness’, I see you as an uncle.” a small smile was exchanged between the two of you before a tired sigh left your mouth. “They’re going to kill me the second they all recognize me in the group!”
‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “We can tell them that you got sick and make you stay with Pema and the kids.” while he was trying to find a solution, your hands were pulling your face down in distress.
‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “Korra will insist that it’s a quick task.” you knew your girlfriend so well that you had already thought of every possibility in your mind. “Do you think it’s too late to burn the side of my face? I mean, it could be a tradition, couldn’t it?”
Giving you a disapproving look to such question and some scolding words, Tenzin made the two of you go back home and as said, when you tried to tell Korra how you felt like you were starting to get sick, she responded with a ‘We’ll just go and come, honey, I’m sure new airs could help your flu’. You gave Tenzin a look of ‘I told you’, he shook his head.
Your desperation and nervousness grew with every kilometer the group traveled to your hometown. You tried to stay as calm as possible to not allow them to catch on to your humor, but it was nearly impossible when you started to recognize the streets Iroh and you used to play or just walk in.
‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “Babe, are you okay?” she asked softly when her eyes met your face for the first time, your hand held tighter to hers. “Is something wrong?”
‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “Korra, listen,” with your heart threatening to leave your chest, you tried to talk to her. “There’s something I haven’t told you about me.”
When you tried to continue, the so familiar voice called. “Avatar Korra!” the named girl turned to the Fire Lord, you hid behind her without letting go of her hand. “We’re so happy to have you here, come in! I wouldn’t have bothered you if we weren’t so desperate for help.”
You tried your best to stay low the whole time, avoiding to look at any family member in the eyes or even talk in case they remembered how your voice sounded, so far you were doing so well. Korra didn’t push either since she was already busy with the Fire Lord trying to help the nation, two days after the mission was so close to finishing, you could feel how your life could go back to tranquility and not receive a single scolding or punishment from any of your family on how they had sent you away to stay alienate from any danger and you just ran to join the avatar on her team to help the world. You had already came to terms of living out of the palace, so if they made you go back just to lock you away you knew you couldn't handle it.
‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “Princess?” the voice of the former Fire Lord made you freeze in your step.
It was too good to be true.
The whole team turned to face the man. “Oh, Zuko, hey!” Korra greeted, a bit confused. “Can we help you with anything?”
‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “Korra, it is always a pleasure to have you here.” he greeted back, his brows furrowed. “What are you doing traveling with the princess?” he asked, his amber eyes never abandoned your face.
‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “What…?” sky colored eyes turned to you, your own fixated on the old man. “I think you’re confused, Zuko, this is my girlfriend–”
‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “Grandfather, I can explain.” your gaze was blurry from the tears accumulating in your eyes, the view of the older man had made you emotional, he looked different to what you remember, but those gentle eyes always stayed the same.
‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “Wow, wait, time out.” Bolin’s voice sounded. “You’re the lost princess?”
Your head nodded, slowly turning your gaze to Korra, whose eyes were already pinned on you. Dimmer than you’ve ever seen them and you knew what that look meant; Korra felt betrayed. Betrayed by the way she was kept from that information, betrayed by Tenzin for not saying a word and most importantly, betrayed by you. She felt as if you didn’t trust her enough to tell her your situation, like you thought she couldn’t protect you from those said were trying to harm you.
Her feet made her walk away from you and when you tried to follow her, the elderly man stopped you with his hand.
‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “You and I need to have a serious talk, young lady.” he said, his tone didn’t sound like he was angry. He sounded concerned.
As said, a very long talk was exchanged between the two of you. Zuko wanted to know why you would put yourself at such risk when the family was trying to ensure that you lived your life calmly -that was expected, wasn’t it?- and your initial argument was how you wanted to help people, how Korra’s cause in making the humans and spirits live along was something you’d wanted since little when he told Iroh and you stories about the spirit world and he understood that completely, after all he did kind of the same when joining Aang, didn’t he?
He assured you how he wouldn’t tell another soul about it if you promised to be careful and maybe start writing to him again like you used to do the first years you were away from the nation. After the talk with the firebender, you were determined to find Korra and explain it all; it wasn’t that hard to find her, walking at the halls connecting one side of the palace to the other, you saw a familiar blue silhouette sitting near a pond where small turtle ducks were swimming around.
‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “Hey, cutie.” you called, trying to test the waters. She didn’t look up. “I'm looking for the avatar, have you seen her?”
‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “Your Highness.” hoarsely greeted back, your shoulders raised a bit to such name she voiced.
‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “Spirits, I hate that so much.” you said sitting next to her, your body completely turned to hers. “Can we talk? Please…”
‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “I don’t really think there’s much to say, after all, I don’t know you.” the way she was speaking to you hurt like hell, but the last words felt like a dagger to your heart.
‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “Korra, it wasn’t my intention keeping this from you.” your hand tried to take hers, at first she thought of taking it away, but the warm touch your skin had on hers made her keep the gesture. “I was told not to talk to a single soul about it. Tenzin and Pema only know because they were instructed to keep an eye in case anyone tried to attack me… Again.”
Her eyes now looked at you, eyebrows furrowed. “Again? Wasn’t it just empty threats?”
Your head moved from side to side, one eye closed. “Kind of, but the week before I moved to Republic City they were able to infiltrate the palace somehow and I was the first one to be found.” you started, lifting a little bit of your shirt to show a scar on your abdomen. “I fought against them while waiting for the guards and got a pretty cool souvenir.”
Her eyes looked at the scar, she was familiar with it, you had told her it happened when you were a kid. You had “tripped and got hurt while playing in the forest.” and now that she thought about it, it did sound a bit off, but back then she didn’t ask much of it.
Ice colored eyes looked back at you, a sweet smile was what she received back.
‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “Everything I do is to protect you and myself,” you continued. “I'm really sorry for hurting you in the process, Korra, but don’t let this come between us. Besides my scar and title, everything else I have told you is completely true and myself.”
The silence the avatar was in felt like an eternity, you couldn’t know what she was thinking about, if she wanted to break up with you or give you a chance. “No more secrets.” she finally spoke, making you smile big, she followed your action. “Does this mean I'm part of the Royal family too?”
‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “Well... I don’t have a betrothal necklace nor you have an engagement ring, so... Not yet.” a small giggle left your mouth, the avatar cut the distance between the two of you to leave a small kiss on your lips.
‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “Did you get grounded for coming here?” she whispered, her eyes now looked soft, as they usually were when Korra was with you.
‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “I got a long talk about safety and anecdotes from avatar Aang's time, but not a single scold from the Fire Lord herself... My grandfather knows how to keep a secret.” you finished, frowning a bit the tip of your nose. “But we do need to leave as soon as this is over before she recognizes me, if the Fire Lord does we will be facing a distance relationship.”
‍ ‍ ‍ ‍‍ “Heard, ma'am.” she straightened her back and made a salute, making you laugh. “We'll take a bag of fire flakes, they're so good.”

The New Gen
Tumblr media
pairing: Korra x OFC
synopsis: As Korra breaks from the overbearing walls of the White Lotus, she begins to explore what being the Avatar really entails. Unintentionally thrusting herself in the city's rising turmoil, she tries to balance her job and being a teenager. Thankfully, she has friends to keep her head straight.

As the Gaang grew older, they established careers and families. Of course, they believed that their children would also be friends – more like a dream in Katara’s case – but they weren’t quite prepared for the length to which the children were willing to go. While Zuko’s daughter, Izumi, liked her infamous friends, she preferred to stay within the castle by her parents’ side. For Toph, Katara, Sokka, Ikkara, and Aang, well, they would’ve begged for their children to be the same.
Toph’s eldest, Lin, had been dating Katara and Aang’s youngest, Tenzin, for two years. In the beginning, it was puppy love. Tenzin chased after her and she’d pretend that the young Airbender had no effect on her. It was adorable, while it lasted. Things changed, for the worse. They were becoming older, discovering themselves and how they saw their future, and a tension began to rise between them.
Working under her mother, Lin soared through the ranks, burying herself in her work while Tenzin was beginning to set himself out as a political figure. With prominent careers, the topic of marriage and children arises. Despite Lin’s caring and protective nature, her family-based trauma tended to hold her back. She was scared, to say the least. If she was to marry Tenzin, only Spirits knew how bad everything would be.
What ifs ran through her mind, day in and day out. What if Aang and Katara no longer approve of me after we’re engaged? What if I can’t give him children? Much less, Airbenders? Him and Aang would be so disappointed, I don’t want to get their hopes up. What if I’m not the perfect wife? The perfect mother?
It was just a sea of unanswered questions and unfortunately, Tenzin was an airbender – not a mind reader. He didn’t understand Lin’s way of thinking, he couldn’t predict that her upbringing would scare her away from building her own family. He couldn’t even answer all her questions. So, in turn, he began to create distance. Much like his estranged girlfriend, he too began to search for content within his work.
As they continued to avoid the weight on their relationship, Tenzin’s attention was caught by an acolyte of the temple. Continuously working around one another, taking daily walks around the island as they fed the Lemurs, the two became attached. Wherever he went, she was there by his side and if he was to leave for the city, she’d stay on his mind.
Enraptured with the woman, he never noticed how hard things were to become. Pema had taken the initiative and confessed her feelings and without a thought, Tenzin had openly reciprocated the confession. Rushed to end the relationship with Lin, no matter how many times he said that he did… there was no real way to ease the hurt that struck the Beifong’s heart.
Spirits, the look on her face when he told her. She hoped that they could fix things, especially now that Suyin was sent away by their mother, she no longer had to work overtime to make sure the younger woman stayed out of trouble. But no. Just like her mother, her father, and her sister, Tenzin left her. He found someone else, someone better. Someone new. Tenzin left her!
In a blind rage, she tore through Air Temple Island with a strength not even her mother was aware of. She stomped and punched, splitting the island into two. From both sides of the island, Tenzin’s parents along with Sokka, Ikkara, and his cousin Ezra watched as their home became victim of the Beifong wrath. Nearly collapsing from a heart attack, she trudged back to the city without a word.
Promising herself to never step foot in that island’s direction ever again, life seemed to have different plans for her. As Tenzin and Pema were engaged, Ezra picked up the pieces from his best friend’s heart. As he sowed her tarnished heart back together, they conquered Republic City. After Toph stepped down, Lin was inaugurated as Chief of Police and Ezra was voted in as Head Councilman and Commander of the Republic City Task Force.
Their faces painted the front pages of the newsletters, busting one crime mob to the next. Eventually, their bond became stronger. It just hit them. Ezra returned home one day and frowned with distaste at the reality he lived in, constantly coming home alone. He no longer liked the silence that surrounded him, outside of his loudmouth father, of course. And Lin felt her gut churning with discomfort as she once again stayed late in the office.
Unlike her officers, she didn’t have a homecooked meal waiting for her or just overall a family waiting the wrap their arms around her, cheering that she returned home to them. Her eyes watered, a sense of finality coming over her as she analyzed the life she lived. Such a lonely life. Until one day, she no longer felt empty. The tall, muscular tribal man marched into her office and with a swift grip, he raised her to his eye level and indulged her with a kiss of passion.
Poor woman could barely step foot in the office that following week. As the two married, Lin discovered her pregnancy amid a crime bust, chasing down the Agni Kai Triad. Her heart nearly stopped as that dark creature returned with its endless pit of ‘what ifs’. Although, this go around was short lived for her husband was a man who understood her from the inside out and from her head to her toes.
And the family was rather excited for them. All except for Tenzin, of course. He couldn’t but to feel that the man he felt was the big brother he should’ve had betrayed him. In his eyes, Lin was a fixture of his past and deserved to stay there. Ezra could’ve fallen for anyone else, married anyone else. He just couldn't find the logic behind it. This elicited a loop of petty arguments and glares from the younger man.
Nothing too catastrophic until Tenzin took Ezra’s admiration for Lin and their relationship as boast to wave in his little cousin’s face. A fight developed, water against air until Aang put his foot and ordered peace. You know, the everyday job of the Avatar.
“I don’t know what has gotten into you two, but the tension in this house is ridiculous,” the aged Avatar grits. Ezra scoffs, “if anything is ridiculous, it’s Tenzin and his attitude toward Lin and I.” He turns his glare at the younger man, “we’ve done nothing to you!”
Tenzin’s eyes widen, wild and untamed, “nothing to me?! You married my ex-girlfriend and she’s now carrying your child. You betrayed me.”
“You want to talk about betrayal?” Ezra’s teeth grind, “then let’s get into how you cheated on Lin and didn’t decide to break things until after you and Pema started dating. Don’t act shocked that fate has decided to give her a second chance at love while you got stuck with a servant for a fiancé.”
Aang sighs, pinching the bridge of his nose, “okay, that’s enough. Both of you!”
Since then, the boys who once considered each other brothers turned into strangers. Ezra became a father to a beautiful little girl who they named Takari as he continued to lead Republic City with Lin while Tenzin and Pema had yet to reach past the engagement stage.
As Aang and Ikkara’s health began to decline, their last moments were spent surrounded by their friends and family. Aang’s dreams of rebuilding the Air Nation started with Tenzin and ended with his two-year-old grandniece, unsure of what his son and Pema were destined for. After his passing, Raava found her way in a waterbender while Takari began to practice her airbending.
Lin found it amusing that her only child was an airbender. As she told Ezra, it was as if the spirits gifted her baby a loophole just to show the woman that she was never the problem. If things were different, if Tenzin was different, she could’ve given him airbending children. But he wasn’t hers to hold and she wasn’t his to love.
Until a strange incident had occured...
The young girl was playing outside with a couple of classmates when a street rat, Fez, intruded on the fun.
The orphan was known to run small errands and even do the dirty work for the triads in exchange for money. When he wasn't occupied with that, he'd find enjoyment in torturing the infamous Beifong child and her friends.
Once again, he was hustling the group for the small amounts of money they had. A girl, Lianna, didn't have any to share so instead he ordered for her late grandmother's betrothal necklace.
She refused, again and again, causing the young firebender to kick an arc of flames her way. Desperately, she dived into the middle of the street, watching as cars weaved around and honked at her. Fez continued chasing her in the road, unbothered, throwing non-stop punches fueled with flames.
Every once in a while, Lianna would block the balls of fire with small whips of water until he trips her feet with a rope of fire, he watches in amusement as she falls in front of an oncoming car. Enraged, Takari ran forward, hands reaching out for the girl, expecting air to leave from her palms.
Instead, the bit of earth Lianna was stuck to turned into a pillar, launching the young girl in the air. Watching her screaming form soar across the intersection, Takari created a vortex of air to catch her body and slow down her fall.
Confused and horrified, Fez watched the girl bend two elements to her will before running down the nearest alleyway. Quickly, she gallops in his direction, feet planting firm to the ground as her clenched fists hover just above the road. Feeling the pull of the earth underneath her, she pulls chunks of it over the orphan's feet.
As her arms continue to raise, the wall of rock rises with her motions, surrounding the boy's body. He jostles himself around, fighting for his body to find release to no avail. Her friends cheer happily as the police arrive, Lin steps from the vehicle with worry at the thought of her daughter in danger until her eyes fall upon the young boy.
"And what happened here?" She asks the children. Fez quickly answers, "that... that freak doesn't know what element she wants to bend. First, she's bending the road and the next she's airbending. Get me away from her!"

Avatar: Legend of Korra

[Image ID: a dark blue background with three lighter blue, cubic shapes. The text “#FFF181 Crystallized” is centered, in white. /End ID]
Was it the night he brought her tea before he went to bed, or when she brought him tea for breakfast?
Was it the day she did the dishes, or the one when she put away the laundry?
Was it the afternoon she met the trade delegation’s tour, or the morning when she made sure the boys had washed behind their ears?
Was it the morning he saw them cuddled in bed, fresh from lovemaking, or the deep night when they comforted him from his nightmares?
Was it the afternoon he set his shoes beside hers, or the morning she accidentally put his on?
Was it the weekend she kissed them goodbye before their trip, or the one when he kissed them as they departed?
Was it the night they stayed up, waiting for her, anxious for her safety, or the afternoon parade in recognition of her contributions?
Was it the time Rohan came running with tears only she could wipe away, or the time Kai sought out her advice?
Was it the first night he spent alone with her, or the first night they spent alone without him?
Was it the cuddles, or the kisses, or the sex, or the soup, or the tea, or the bandages, or the books?
Was it the first anniversary or the second?
Was it their sunset moment by the water, or the family dinner?
When had it crystalized for him, truly, deeply crystalized, that his old love for Lin and his long love for Pema had blended into this new thing? That he could love each of them and both of them, and create a life of beauty?
But then, he knew.
It was when his mother had woken, deep in the night, and made four cups of tea.
It had been when Kai and Jinora waited until they were all together before announcing their own plans.
It was when Ikki had curled up in Lin’s lap and fallen asleep.
It was when Meelo had lain across the foot of the bed so he could see all of them.
It was when Rohan had reached out so that he could hug both of them.
It was when Lin had carded her fingers through Pema’s hair for hours to comfort her sick wife.
It was when they had surprised him from opposite sides of the door when he came home.
It was when they made his favorite meal for his birthday.
It was when he saw them, dozing in each other’s arms by his hospital bed.
It was when Kya sat with them after the doctor left, and explained everything to them.
It was when Pema helped him catch Lin when she stumbled.
It was when Lin whispered that she saw blood on Pema’s kerchief.
It was when they sat together in peace to watch the moon rise.
It was when they sat together in silence to watch the sun rise.
It was when she kissed him.
It was when she kissed her.
It was every night.
It was every day.
Tenzin opened his eyes and drew in a gentle, slow breath. He stretched out his hands to touch the ground, but did not feel it below him.
He looked down, and saw himself floating gently a handspan above the sun-warmed marble.
And he smiled.

Ships you like and dislike for a few characters and why ? I’m interested in your thoughts and analysis. Don’t have to answer all of them I would just love to see some. Tysm and have a good day 💗🤍.
Bolin ( obvi)
Wei
Suyin
Lin
Asami
If you don’t ship Bopal who do you ship Opal with ?
Bumi II
Huan
So for Bolin, I don't have many ships I like for him other than weilin? I think a lot of his canon ships share the theme of either enabling his infantilisation or patronising him. Bolin needs a partner that would support amd challenege him into maturing, but the writers won't give that to us because writing character development is hard.
At least with weilin I can work with my own ideas?
Mind you it's not that I can't get behind other ships, in the right setting,I'm just very picky about how Bo is characterised.
As for Wei, he doesn't have a lot of interactions with any characters outside of Bolin, so I really don't have a lot of ships with him.
One thing I'm sick of seeing is Beifong family incest? If my daily scouring of the web for weilin crumbs is interrupted by a threesome between Wei, Wing and THEIR FATHER, I will blow this solar system into smithereens.
I'm pretty vanilla when it comes to Suyin ships. I adore Sutar they're adorable and I wish we could've seen them when they were younger. I adore the idea of Suyin finding someone to build a life with, I adore the theme of carving out and building a place to call home together, I adore how they're the poster children for malewife/girlboss.
Though one of my crackships is Suyin x any member of the Red Lotus. This would probably place itself somewhere in my Red Lotus! Beifongs AU.
I'm not too fond of Suvira? Like I absolutely get the appeal, in theory. And while Kuvira doesn't consider the Beifongs family, she has been under Suyin's care since she was 8. Most mentor/protégé ships aren't my cup of tea. There are very specific exceptions, but as a rule of thumb, I shy away from this theme.
For Lin, I'm very partial to Linzolt, thanks to my wife. Very interesting dynamic. I also like shipping Lin with women of course; Kyalin, Linsuko, Lin x Buttercup Raiko - all bangers. I like Linzin for what it could've been. I also think Lin x Pema is a fun crackship. Maybe they saw Korrasami and were like: 'hey why not?'. I do however like Lin with Tenzin and Pema together? They'd be a cute throuple. I have a tendency to enjoy shipping Lin with married couples because I tend to ship Lin with San and Naoki as well (Mako and Bolin's parents)
Asami. Like most of the fandom, I adore korrasami. Though I'll be honest when I say... masami was kinda cute? Honestly, any ship where Asami is happy gets a thumbs up from me.
That being said I'm always in the market for some toxic yuri, so Asami x Kuvira or Asami x Jargala are both very intriguing to me.
Another one of my favourite guilty pleasure ships I'm much too invested in is Opal x Asami.
Think about it. They're both rich girls who were isolated from the world. Imagine them sharing stories of the wide world. Imagine Asami upgrading Opal's wingsuit and Opal bringing Asami trinkets from all the places her Air Nomad journeys take her. Imagine Asami getting a real family as the Beifongs adopt her. Her getting a father that would never betray her in Baatar Sr.
Idk I think they'd be good for each other. I think I need to make a longer post on Asami x Opal.
Opal is my favourite female tlok character (Bolin being my fave male character) and tbh I hate her being demoted to a love interest.
That doesn't mean I don't ship her with anyone.
Sapphic Opal has my heart and soul. I ship her with most female characters of the show. Korpal? Exquisite, did you see the synchronised airbending scene? Opalvira? Love their divorced vibe in rote! Opal x Asami? Unsung favourite! Opal x Eska? Opal x Ginger? Yesyesyes!
My one straight ship for Opal is Mako x Opal because I think they'd be good for one another.
Bumi II x Suyin Beifong's chef is my horrible creation. I think this post I made months ago explains it perfectly:
I don't have any particular ships for Huan. I'm quite open to most ships with him, since in my personal opinion he's the most romantic of the Beifong siblings. I can see him with Desna or Eska, Tahno or Ryu the airbender. Mako x Huan is also sweet when you think of it. I think if them both as such big brothers.
I'm not very into Huan x Ikki. Like, I do get why people like it. And I'm not that against age gap relationships. One of the healthiest relationships i know irl has a huge age gap. I just see Ikki and Huan as having such a big brother/little sister relationship it's very hard for me to swap to seeing them as anything romantic. Perhaps as a onesided puppy crush on Ikki's side but anything more is a big big no no
Thanks for the ask, anon, I had fun answering this one! And if you want me to elaborate on any of the mentioned ships, I'll be happy to ramble!
