it's Friday and that means that Flash Fiction Friday is about to start! (right now!)

Today is a very special day for us, some of you might have anticipated it: It's the day of our 300th prompt(s), and we prepared a little celebration for you! But 300 prompts also mean 300 weeks of Flash Fiction Friday, and with some breaks, we had our 6 year anniversary this February. That is why we also prepared an extra announcement down below.

We wish you a lot of fun with our six brand old prompts and happy writing! ✨🎉

✨ New to FFF? Let us fill you in!

Flash Fiction Friday is a fun writer event that’s meant to inspire, share and connect writings of all genres and writers of all ages. It’s designed to make people want to write, especially if they’re feeling blocked. Everyone and everything is welcome!

We always do our very best to keep the prompt’s genre open, entertaining, positive and encouraging.

Write between 100-1000 words. (TODAY IS A SPECIAL DAY! GO AND WRITE DOUBLE IF YOU WANT 🎉) It can be any genre, in any text format and 18+ is fine by us, just please tag accordingly.

Use this Friday’s theme in your text. Any way you see fit.

Post on your tumblr blog and remember to tag us at @flashfictionfridayofficial​!! So we’ll see it, read it and reblog it!!

Deadline is 24 hours (perhaps we will keep one eye closed! Just today! And tomorrow! (+12 hours? YES?)) after the prompt has been issued (12 pm CET).

And then, next Friday, we’ll mention your work in a showcase post on our main blog before our next prompt drops.

In our first year without our very own Flash Fiction Friday blog, documentation was quite wonky, our archivist is begging for forgiveness. But everyone agrees that We Are Not Alone was the most popular prompt with 23 entries. No one wrote alone that day! Go pick this prompt for the spooOOOooky vibes or cozy cuddles. Whether it is a piece full of hope or horror, we want to read it!

In our second year, we were blown away by all the entries we got, but one prompt blew YOU away with 42 (!!) entries!! We could not only read the angst, no, we could taste it! But you all wouldn't be you if many of them see a challenge and master it. Whether it's a funny and fluffly piece about playing tag, a piece about empowering decisions, or the last moments and sacrifice. Write it.

Stories full of flames and revenge! Our third year made arsony popular with 32 entries. Today is your chance to build something new (with words!) on top of ashes. We want to see the funny, the unhinged, the devoted stories full of fire and heat!

After four years, we learned one thing about you: You are consistent. With Rise and Fall and 32 entries, you have picked again a prompt about achievements and losses, flying and tumbling, writing and deleti- NO! No words will be deleted today! When I said consistent, I was not lying! 32 entries in our fifth year make this our fifth prompt today! We all took "touch some grass" literally and wanted to know, where do the flowers grow? What kind of flowers are they and what do we have to give to see them? Deep questions hidden behind greenery, we want you to ask them again! Tell us! Where do they grow?

Korra's Wardrobe | 2025 edition

Over 10 years ago, while LoK was still airing, I drew Korra in each of her outfits. I recently found that post again, and thought I should revisit my old obsession, and add the outfits that were missing. This has been really fun, it was like meeting up with some old friends - both my younger self and Korra herself!

Thanks to everyone who encouraged me to finish this!! ♥ And hi to the people who were in the fandom with me back then, I'm waving at you from over here in the future :)

None of these are show-accurate, I thought it would be much more interesting to give each design a bit of a twist while keeping their original visual language. It was a really fun challenge, and I love comparing the old and new.

Some of these are a lot further into my own interpretation - the chains ghost, for example, is super bloodied because I'm not restricted by a TV network censor and the Zaheer fight was violent. And it left scars, too! The Raava fusion designs are extremely self-indulgent (Raava I love you, you will always be famous), and the kid designs are pretty far from the depictions of Korra in Friends for Life and Weaver's Ball, but I wanted to make them into a real evolution getting closer to the Book 1 design over time.

Kya’s character sheets from the Legend of Korra Art Book: 2

BK: Kya’s design was a fun collaboration. Lauren Montgomery did and inital concept we all liked; Ki-Hyuun Ryu took those concepts a step further and fleshed out the rough designs; and I finished up the final model sheet. As Kya is Katara’s daughter, I wanted her outfit and parka both to call back to her mother’s iconic outfit’s from the original series.

JDS: I abseloutley loved Kya’s initial concepts by Lauren. She had a wise look to her. You’ll notice in the final design, her eyes were drawn a bit bigger and she looked just a bit more youthful and cute. This slight design tweak helped bolster the free-spirit design of Kya’s personality.

AtLA Rarepair Month - May 2025

Hello and welcome once again to the Avatar: The Last Airbender Rarepair Month event!

This event is a month long, spanning the entirety of the month of May 2025, and will be devoted to any and all forms of content celebrating the Rarepair ships of AtLA.

Content can include but not limited to fanfiction, fanart, moodboards, edits, music videos and playlists.

Prompts:

Week 1 - Fairytales & Legends + Mental Health/Support Systems + Seasons- May 1st to May 6th

Week 2 - Musical instruments & Poetry + First Time Bending Experiences + Love Languages - May 7th to May 12th

Week 3 - Education/Teaching + Confessions + The Four Elements - May 13th to May 18th

Week 4 - First Kill (Hunting or War) + Writing Letters/Secret Messages + The Human Spirit - May 19th to May 24th

Week 5 - Retirement + Chores + In Sickness and In Health + Free Space - May 25th to May 31st

The rules for entries are as follows:

-Must be 18+ to participate, as we will be accepting NSFW entries (make sure to tag appropriately for content warnings)

-A rarepair must have 100 or less fics on ao3 to be considered acceptable.

-For this event we are excluding any Canon Character x Reader submissions.

-We will, however, accept Canon Character x OC submissions.

-All content is acceptable, please be courteous of other people's submissions and do not leave hate or discourse in the comments and tags. This is a celebration of rarepairs and encouraging more content for rarepairs in the fandom. If you don't like something someone made, just keep scrolling.

head-canon: miral wants to go to summer camp

i imagine miral torres being about 10 and asking if she can go to summer camp and b'elanna is like “yeah that sounds great, which one” and miral shows her a padd for klingon summer camp where you serve on an actual bird of prey patrolling the demilitarized zone. and b'elanna is like “wow how about over my dead body” and miral is like “but mommmmmmmm” and b'elanna can’t believe she’s begging her offspring to please choose starfleet summer camp instead because you are ten years old and the last place you need to be is on the cardassian border with a bat'leth. and then miral starts complaining that “GRANDMA SAID I COULD GO” and b'elanna is about 20 seconds from getting on the comm with her mother when miral suddenly asks if she can just spend a few weeks with aunt kathryn instead. 

b'elanna can’t believe how easy she’s getting out of this one but she’s not about to look a gift targ in the teeth so she packs up miral and sends her on her way to a suspiciously compliant janeway. 

and two weeks later miral comes back with a duffle bag full of weird plants and shells and bones and a new pet fish that seems to be walking around on its fins and b'elanna is like “where exactly did you two go” and miral is 10 and not very good at being evasive so after a couple of minutes of sorting through her treasures and trying to ignore her mother she mutters “the devonian” and b'elanna isn’t sure she heard right because she can’t think of even a tiny moon called devonian. so she asks where devonian is and miral looks really guilty and b'elanna happens to glance at the fish and then understanding dawns and she’s like 

“HOLY BALLS OF KAHLESS YOUR AUNT TOOK YOU TO THE DEVONIAN PERIOD 400 MILLION YEARS AGO AND THAT FISH IS EVOLVING LEGS”

and miral is hoping her mother won’t ask her to get rid of the fish because she really likes it and has already named it sisko. so to allay her mother’s fears miral lets b'elanna know that aunt kathryn never let her get in the water without her plasma grenade launcher and not to worry because they practiced with it first before they went on a real dive and b'elanna can only repeat over and over that miral is not allowed to leave the house again until she’s 30.

and secretly miral is pleased because she thinks she has a pretty decent bid for klingon summer camp next year and if it doesn’t work out there’s always aunt kate and maybe the cretaceous.
