apush: a guide

hey y’all! school is just around the corner and I have decided to post a couple of tips for some of the classes i have taken in the past. this first one is going to be about apush because i did a lot to study for it and i also loved the subject!

general class tips

TAKE NOTES! TAKE NOTES! TAKE NOTES! Whether it’s on lectures or textbook readings, be sure you have a good system of note taking that is organized. The easier your notes are to read, the easier it is to study the material you learned in september for the may exam

PRACTICE WRITING! my apush course was very writing heavy, and that really helped me on the exam. make sure you take advantage of improving your essay writing skills and take criticism and improve upon it

IT IS NOT ONLY ABOUT THE TERMS! the apush exam is very analysis based. so while it is nice to know a lot of terms to throw into your DBQs, SAQs, and LEQs, make sure you can analyze them. a great way to focus on the analysis is to read HISTORIOGRAPHIES. essentially, these are nice long essays that show different perspectives of history and are a great way to improve your analysis skills.

exam day tips

i’ll probably post a whole separate thing closer to the exam next year (lol it is a bit early!) but here are just a few things to remember

BRING SNACKS AND A WATER BOTTLE! this test is 3+ hours. make sure you have eaten and slept before you go to the exam

ON THE MULTIPLE CHOICE: remember it is mainly analysis based. don’t overthink anything and derive your information from what is given. again, it may help to study terms, but ultimately the analysis is what helps on this section

ON THE SHORT ANSWER: you do not have to fill up the entire page! make sure that you answer each part of the question (you can divide it out by A. B. and C.) and remember to analyze what is given. this is the section where the terms you study will play in, so make sure to toss the ones you know in

ON THE DBQ: this is the hardest section for everyone. answer the question before you read the documents and then figure out where they play a role in your arguments (at least that helped me). don’t forget to include POV, it can be as simple as saying “this person was conservative” or “he started this thing during this time”. you got this!

ON THE LEQ: phew! the final section. don’t give up! answer the question you can easily form an argument with. often times the essays on earlier time periods are less specific and easier to answer (my teacher told me this). this is another section where it is essential you have terms and analysis.

18.09.19 | I‘m suuper inactive lately. But we have the last exam of course 1 tomorrow, after which I‘ll have waaay more time to post stuff! I will also post the last days of my productivity challenge this weekend and maybe some notes will be posted after that☺️

Anyways I‘m super super late with my posts, I know!!! But as I said I‘m also super busy! I can‘t fail one of these exams or I‘m out😱 But I‘m currently working on my october spreads which are taking me a lot of time, while I‘ve already finished with my november ones😅

Day 4 | 5 Weeks of Productivity

Began the day with 2 hours of sport.

After lunch and just right after school I took some times to just chill and listen to some music. After dinner I studies a LOT! We have our first test tomorrow and I don‘t feel prepared...

26.07.19 | Officially done with work! I said goodbye to everyone and exchanged some gifts and shed a few tears. But I will already be back next week since I have to give back all he clothes😂

But first I‘ll be off again to the apartment with a new little project I‘ll show you guys later🙈

13.08.19 | I completely forgot that I have not yet posted these spreads😂 I only just got to settle in after school started last week. Finally got a little more free time today!

But I‘m suuper happy that I chose to do this school and already made some cool friends!

some sloppy income statement and balance sheet data that i need for my big project that’s due on sunday. all those errors were arising because the company’s annual report said one thing and a financial website said another.

maybe my notes will become neater, but then again where’s the fun in that?

Day 9 | 5 Weeks of Productivity

Our teacher is still sick. We had some more free time as planned but still managed to get quite a lot of work done. After school me amd the girls decided to go for a walk.

After dinner my crush asked me if I could help him with some questions he had so we studied another hour before we spent some time chillin together^^

this is some of my notes from last semester for my organizational behavior class. we had to tie in a concept with some current events and i chose the wing. if you haven’t heard of them you should go check them out, it’s a club for women only that helps empower other women. hopefully when i’m older i can join the club 🤞🏼

finally found some time to start studying for the first part of my cpa test in order to get my cpa license (duh). it’s hard than it looks because business law is totally not my things.

additionally anyone have any tips in order to stay on track? ALSO, any tips how to angle and take pictures of my notes so that they look nice?
