"In Trauma and Recovery, Herman expresses the additional concern that patients with CPTSD frequently risk being misunderstood as inherently 'dependent', 'masochistic', or 'self-defeating' [personality disorders], comparing this attitude to the historical misdiagnosis of female hysteria."

Passive aggression is literally my favorite form of communication for people who don't pay attention to me. I can say anything at all to them/about them and they don't even hear it.
My favorite test is saying a sentence that makes zero sense to see how well they are listening.
"Penguins only wear pants on sundays." they are like "uh huh" I'm like "yeah wow! Totally crazy right ?" That's how well they listen, lmao if they stop and question it they are at least half listening which is better than not at all.

whoever sent sunny that cruel ask I really really hope you realise how much that hurts. as if we don't fucking go through enough living life with a disorder as stigmatised as this. only a few people in my life know that I have OSDD because it faces so much stigma. they make fucking horror movies where the killer has my disorder. I don't understand how someone can feel so much malice towards a stranger that they will not only send them an ask basically implying that they Don't Exist and are Pretend, but also take a jab at their identity too?? why are you so unkind? there was nothing forcing you to go out of your way to make a strangers day worse by telling them that they don't fucking exist. systems and fictives have been recognised by psychologists for years. I am recognised as a system by TWO professionals, including a psychiatrist. They both acknowledge sunny's existence because they are professionals in the field of psychology who actually know what they're talking about. you are expressing so much confidence with your ignorance it makes me feel sick. I've turned anons are off on sunny's blog, he's distraught. you disgust me. I am so glad I will never know you.

Heres a long question/ramble that wouldnt fit on here; https://www.tumblr.com/rizzlerrr/743119744386973696/yo-mental-health-side-of-tumblr-i-think-i-might?source=share
Hi you seem like a knowledgeable person on this. Could you please glance at this? No pressure! Thank you.
If you respond do so in any way you see fit.
i want to clarify like my pinned post, i am no professional so my response should just lead to further research! also if anyone feels like i might be wrong on some topics I would appreciate feedback!
The 'not being able to express emotions well' very much leans towards traits of szpd, as well as a low social battery. Though I will say having a low social battery isn't completely a schizoid trait unless you kinda just don't *care* for social activities, or would rather not do it, though some schizoids *can* want it for different reasons (social obligation, other diagnosis that causes a social need, or it just seems nice)
One thing i noticed is that you want to be able to disappear out of a social commitment, which is something a lot of schizoids do or want to do when someone gets too close or it becomes too draining. Also having people that you've known a long time without the need to meet others is something that isn't really talked about, but I feel like a lot of schizoids would relate.
I would say number #7 is probably unrelated to szpd, maybe a hallucination like you mentioned or something to do with your eyes focusing on a person for too long.
You can always appear to be friendly and emotional, but a lot of szpd is stuff going on inside. It's up to you to be able to decide if this label is best fit for what you feel because you're the only one who will truly understand what you feel

Subtleties Of Covert Narcissism
Most information that is readily available about Narcissistic Personality Disorder describes overt narcissists.  They are the ones who are loud, openly critical, cruel & easier to identify.  Unfortunately, there isn’t nearly as much information available about their quieter & more sinister counterpart, covert narcissists.  Today I hope to help you understand them a bit better. Covert narcissists…

Other Personality Disorders
This post is about personality disorders that used to exist in the DSM or ICD but don’t anymore. You cannot be diagnosed with these disorders, as they’re not in any diagnostic manual; you would be diagnosed with Other Specified Personality Disorder (or the ICD-11 equivalent) instead.
Passive-Aggressive / Negativistic (PA/NegPD)
A pervasive pattern of negativistic attitudes and passive resistance to demands for adequate performance, beginning by early adulthood and present in a variety of contexts.
Masochistic / Self-Defeating (Ma/SDPD)
A pervasive pattern of self-defeating behavior, beginning by early adulthood and present in a variety of contexts. The person may often avoid or undermine pleasurable experiences, be drawn to situations or relationships in which he or she will suffer, and prevent others from helping him or her.
Sadistic (SaPD)
A pervasive pattern of cruel, demeaning, and aggressive behavior, beginning by early adulthood and present in a variety of contexts.
Depressive / Melancholic (De/MePD)
A pervasive pattern of depressive cognitions and behaviors, beginning by early adulthood and present in a variety of contexts.
Other Personality Disorders
Turbulent
Turbulent PD has never existed in any DSM. It’s part of Millon’s theorised personality disorder taxonomy, but doesn’t appear in any other literature.
It seems to be an alternate way of categorising and defining hypomania & cyclothymic disorder, and is similar to ADHD, NPD & HPD.
Millon classes it on a spectrum from ebullient personality type -> exuberant personality style -> turbulent personality disorder.
Haltlose
Theorised in German, Russian, and French psychiatry.
Haltlose translates to “unstable” (literally, “without footing”) and refers to a “drifting, aimless and irresponsible lifestyle: a translation might be ‘lacking a hold' on life or onto the self)”.
“Those with haltlose personality disorder have features of frontal lobe syndrome, sociopathic and histrionic personality traits”.
Someone with haltlose PD “lacks concentration and persistence”, and “lives in the present only”. They are “easily persuaded, and [are] often led astray”.
Haltlose PD is similar to AsPD as there is “an inability to learn from experience, and no sincere sense of remorse”. They are often described as ‘lovable rouges’.
(Cullivan, R, ‘‘Haltlose’ type personality disorder (ICD-10 F60.8)’, Psychiatric Bulletin, 1998, pp. 58-59).
Immature
Immature PD was mentioned in the DSM-III as a specifier for Other Specified PD, but removed in later editions.
It seems to be a combination of borderline, histrionic, narcissistic, antisocial, dependent, schizoid and avoidant PDs.
Almeida et al. suggest the following criteria for Immature PD: irresponsibility; impulsivity; unreliability; easily swayed; mood swings; expect overindulgence from others; dependency on others; ability for remorse or regret but it’s “light and fleeting”; inability to manage assets; inability to follow plans; quick to lie; unable to delay gratification; quick to frustration; devaluation of others; risk-taking behaviour; unstable relationships and behaviour; feels both entitled and worthless; attention seeking; recklessness; shyness; ungrateful; over-familiar with others; unable to plan for the future; substance use.
They also suggest 3 subtypes of Immature PD: the dramatic and emotional subtype, the shy subtype, and the mixed subtype.
(Almeida et al., 'Immature Personality Disorder: Contribution to the Definition of this Personality', Clinical Neuroscience & Neurological Research, 2019, pp. 1-16).
Eccentric and Psychoneurotic
These two personality disorders existed only as ‘other specified’ PDs in the ICD-10, where no definition is given.

September 1, 2023:
If you hate minding your own business and love being on the sidelines of interpersonal drama, this is the book for you. It's technically a murder mystery, but the murder doesn't happen until wayyyy late in the story, so most of the time you're just reading people's passive-aggressive emails to each other and wondering who it could be & when. That's the fun part for me.
That said, the audiobook is really challenging. They did the best they could, with several different narrators to change voices, and even sound effects to make it easier to understand, but at the end of the day it's epistolary: the format is part of the story. There are a staggering number of characters to keep track of. All the email metadata (sender, subject line, date, timestamp, recipient) is read out and it can be very hard to keep it all straight, just hearing a bunch of numbers all at once. Challenging.
I thought the mystery was fine; in the middle, I was really invested in trying to figure out who the killer (or honestly, the victim) could be. But I thought the ending was bad. Not the reveal, but the final chapter really took a weird turn that doesn't fit with the rest of the book's world. Like, the book goes out of its way to denounce the notion that (western, white) people think of Africa as a mystical, war-torn monoculture, but then the last chapter is suddenly like "But in Africa, ghosts are real!" What the fuck is that about?

The Passive Aggressive Personality
What Is Passive-Aggressive Behavior? Passive-aggressive behavior is the act of expressing negative feelings indirectly instead of openly talking about them. Someone who uses passive aggression may feel angry, resentful or frustrated, but they act neutral, pleasant or even cheerful. They then find indirect ways to show how they really feel. When someone uses passive aggression, they might say one…

Behaviour Matrix
Instead of creating detailed character profiles, you may consider making behaviour matrices instead.
Example
Selfish — Altruistic
Aggressive — Passive
Dishonourable — Honourable
Disordered — Ordered
Believer — Sceptic
Fervent — Restrained
Apathetic — Inquisitive
How to use this matrix:
For each row, pick from one of the columns.
This defines your character based on attitude and response, and avoids injecting any kind of ethical commentary.
These attributes are not inherently good or bad and, when combined, form a surprisingly nuanced sense of who the person is and how they might react to any given situation.
Even better, this behaviour matrix also allows for and actively encourages contradictions, which are the foundation of any interesting character.

Character Flaws
When creating characters, it's all too easy to envision the most perfect people, especially when it comes to creating love interests. Even our loveable morally grey characters are mostly perfect, if only they would stop killing...
So, here are a list of some flaws (based on personality, not appearance) to help round out your characters. While it's nice to be good at everything, it's abnormal. No one is perfect, and your characters will be much more relatable if you knock them down a bit.
Please note, none of these are (specifically) mental disorders, as I don't consider those a character flaw.
The Good (aka little flaw):
Absent-minded, aimless, argumentative, audacious, awkward, blunt, bold, boring, capricious, childish, clumsy, competitive, complainer, cowardly, critical directionally-challenged, dubious, finicky, fixated, flake, flirty, foolish, gossipy, gruff, gullible, hedonistic, humourless, hypocritical, idealist, idiotic, ignorant, illiterate, immature, impatient, impetuous, impulsive, incompetent, inconsiderate, indecisive, indifferent, indomitable, irrational, lazy, lustful, materialistic, meddlesome, meek, mischievious, nagging, naive, nervous, nosey, obnoxious, overambitious, overconfident, overemotional, overprotective, overzealous, passive-aggressive, paranoid, peevish, perfectionist, pessimist, pest, predicatable, pretencious, prideful, rebellious, renege, rigorous, sarcastic, skeptic, seducer, selfish, self-righteous, shallow, slacker, solemn, spacey, spoild, squeamish, stubborn, supersticious, sycophant, tactless, tease, tempermental, tenacious, theatrical, thoughtless, timid, unpredictable, unsupportive, vain, workaholic
The Bad (aka big flaw):
Addiction, adulterous, aloof, anxious, apathetic, arrogant, belittling, belligerent, bigmouth, bitter, bully, callous, deceptive, dependant, deranged, dishonest, disloyal, disrespectful, egotistical, envious, erratic, exploitive, fanatical, fickle, fierce (at the extreme), gluttonous, greedy, harasser, hubris, impious, infamy, intolerant, judgemental, lewd, liar, meglomaniac, morally grey, narcissistic, negligent, obsequious, obsessive, offensive, prejudiced, quixotic, reckless, rigid, self-martyr, self-righteous, short-tempered, spiteful, squanderer, stingy, unethical, unforgiving, untrustworthy
The Ugly (aka cross the street when you see this person):
Abusive, bigot, controlling, cruel, explosive, immoral, inhumane, intolerant, machiavellian, manipulative, murderous, neglectful, oppressive, racist, remorseless, possessive, self-destructive, threatening, treacherous, vengeful, vindictive, violent
The seven chief features of ego: self-deprecation, self-destruction, martyrdom, stubbornness, greed, arrogance and impatience.
Some of these may not even be considered flaws, and some may jump from one category to the next. It's all about how you present these flaws in your characters.
Have any more to add? Did you find this useful? Let me know down in the comments :)
