Personal rant about summertime for anyone interested:

So two weeks ago I was traveling for a family wedding which was really fun but busy with lots to do and folks to catch up with, and then last week I spent a good amount of time catching up with responsibilities I'd neglected while traveling and I was just thinking about as a kid, summer was such a nice free time, but as an adult it ends up being one of the busiest times of the year (up there only with winter holidays) because you likely still working just as much as ever, but the weather's nice and kids are off so all your family members and friends want to schedule vacations and get togethers and reunions in the same short three month period. So even though those are fun, you still have the stresses they come with on top of your normal life stresses. I mean it doesn't help that I'm applying for jobs rn as well and that traffic's worse than ever in my town with lots of tourists and construction, but still. It reminds me of when we were in elementary school and my brother was complaining because he needed to read a book over summer vacation for school like 'being a kid is so hard, you never get a real break' and my mom was kind of like 'stinks for you buddy but you really won't get more of a break than being a kid' and I do really emphasize with kids on this point but... I am nearing thirty and there are still many days when I wish I could have a break from adulting. Rant over.

something i will never not be emotional about is dany's immense capacity for empathy and compassion. dany grew up beneath the oppressive force of an individual who lacked these things; there was no room for empathy or compassion in viserys, not with all the rage and resentment and fear and cowardice filling every piece of his being and devouring him.

the empathy, kindness, and compassion that dany exudes later in life does not appear out of the ether. of course, much of her desire to act with goodness arises out of the fact that she wishes to be opposite of viserys, and she treats others with the kindness withheld from her and disguised when she was younger. and she cherishes the dignity of people! but, we know that when willem darry fell ill, dany spent much of her time at his bedside, listening to stories and holding his leathery hand; i am sure she intercepted servants, offering to bring the old bear his food and wine. i can see her, cold and hungry, nibbling on a piece of stale bread viserys managed to secure for them, and noticing a young boy with empty, hopeless eyes; i can see her awaiting a moment when viserys is not paying attention, so that she may offer the boy some of her bread. i can see, after viserys' joy has burned out of him, dany stepping between him and one of the rare friends she made while playing in a bazaar; perhaps this friend did not greet viserys in the proper westerosi fashion, did not call him "king", and it sent him barreling into a fury; i can see dany claiming blame for herself, for lacking the grace to teach her friend how to greet a king, in order to spare the other from ire.

the world has been unkind to daenerys . . . so much so, she felt she could no longer live in it (until the dragons and magic stir and awaken within her). however, when she has the power to change the world around her, to turn her empathy and compassion into action, she leverages it heavily! her campaign in slaver's bay is based in compassion and her own ability to empathize with the enslaved and oppressed peoples of this region, for she knows what it is like to be sold, to be robbed of agency, to be reduced to a thing to be bartered over and used. her policies reflect this, focusing on increasing equity and opportunity for freepeople and offering hope for a prosperous and liberated future.

Dude.. my ex boyfriend totally did get me into conspiracy theory shit, even if unintentionally (i think its intentional im sure he believed in that shit. Would not surprise me at all.) At the time i was already pretty isolated from anyone online who mightve countered any of my dumb spiritual or alien related beliefs because of some dumb shit i said online making most of the friends and followers i made online generally avoid me, depending on who it was. I was just a regular pagan and then he showed me this weird video with all this weird conspiracy theory symbolism in it. I looked it up later on and looked up the meaning of the symbolism and came across a whole bunch of stuff posing itself as Secret Information The US Govt Doesnt Want You To Know About, etc. And then i just fell deeper into the conspiracy theory pipeline, traded my paganism for new age beliefs, and goddamn dude. Like we both got suspended from school bc he had a dumb idea to dumb shit there and i spent my time in detention fucking. Trying to read "the emerald tablets" or whatever tf. Its all coming back to me rn.

Nother question about the Stepford Wives of Oblivion. Are there any ways that they differ in behavior from each other? I was wondering that since you made it clear that they don’t all have the same aesthetic so they might not all act as 50’s house wife-y as Red does. Also are Huntsman and Syntax “pared up” as it where after they both get wifed, or is Syntax just like a pet to Silktea or something? (asking cause of the flower crowns pic with our spider boys in it)

Actually yes! there are several minor changes between all of them and their specific personality quirks in relation to 'wife-ing'

The most important things that a wife must have of course is unshakeable obedience to their 'Husband' (Re: Owner) being able to become mindless for said husband with minimal prompting, being oh so happy with this whole setup, happier than they've ever been in their hazily remembered past, and so in love with their husband that they simply can't concieve ever loving anyone else more.

from there they can diverge based on whoever they 'belong' to's preference (or at times, what Xiaotian has decided would 'be best' for them)

Red is the 'standard model' of course, sweet and airheaded, rarely thinking (though throuhgout the main timeline of Tyrant Prince that does steadily change as he desires to be more of use to Xiaotian and slowly starts willingly taking on 'thought' again as a way to help his husband with the plot based problems/running the city) and always happy to cuddle or give kisses.

Huntsman was sculpted into something more 'simple' since they were also lowkey messing with Sandy's head a little too it was decided that Huntsman would be best served as a sort of 'Pet Wife' for Sandy there to clean up and take care of the cats and cuddle and give kisses like any wife, but also perfectly content to lounge about with the cats and feel maybe more kin with them than he probably should.

As for Syntax he IS still thinking more than your average Wife, since much like with Spider Queen back during his initial spider-fication he's too useful to just make him another braindead pet. In one ending it's 'the only way he can be useful and thus worth anything' in the other it's just 'how happy he is to help out' but he's only used for projects that require coding, since anything tactile might mess with his muscle memory and muscle memory is always a gateway drug to remembering something they shouldn't so Syntax is just given a beaten up computer and told to work on better security measures for everyone's systems so they can't get hacked by anyone ever again. (and in the ending where he gets caught he's WAY more melancholy for the Mental torment Xiaotian and Xiaojiao put him through and straight up can't 'meditate' (re: reinforce his own brainwashing) with Huntsman and Sandy bc it gives him breakdowns about what a terrible person he supposedly is) it's a Kind Of Poly setup in that he's given to Sandy and he and Huntsman are BOTH Sandy's Pet Wives, but Sandy and Syntax didn't know eachother before this so it's tech. speaking more of a 'Huntsman has two hands for a reason' type situation. since Syntax is way more of a 'pet' than a 'wife' to Sandy's poor scrambled brain.

Spindrax is mentally very broken in her timelines, but since Xiaojiao likes her fiestyness she's more prone to jealousy and acting out, but @unseelie-robynx has already said about as much as we have on her before

Ironically Shuyin is the most lucid of all the 'Stepford Wives of Oblivion' since being from the cult she was perfectly slated to walk into all of this willingly. and as such has retained most of her personality. SHe's a reserved bookworm prone to fantasies and escapism. She's a writer by trade (being a secretary as a former dayjob before being abducted married off) and always has her head in the clouds, but willing to pull herself back to earth in order to Sing 'her Lady's praises.

sometimes i like to think that horror comes to dust's room late at night just to talk to phantom papyrus. no he doesn't wanna talk to dust. horror probably doesn't even CARE if dust's awake at the asscrack of dawn or rambling off to the hallucination too loudly this late at night because he just wants to talk to phantom papyrus

horror's not delusional enough to believe that phantom paps is actually real and his own papyrus like dust does but sometimes he really wants to,,,, so just for these short moments between them he wants to pretend that the hallucination is his papyrus. that he gets to talk to his own brother before everything went to shit and before he ruined his brother's life. yeah sure phantom paps kinda says some crazy stuff that horror's papyrus never would back then but so what?? dust's papyrus is the closest thing he's got and at least he doesn't have to deal with the guilt at even LOOKING at his brother's face (the sunken eyesockets,,,, the uneven teeth,,,,, yeah no) because there's nothing there. horror doesn't have to do anything but keep his back turned to dust and just talk to papyrus through him

they both keep their backs turned to eachother when they do this because neither of them can stand looking at eachother. dust especially because hearing horror sound so much like how he was before. horror sounds so lighthearted and relaxed and just,,,,, normal that it almost reminds dust of himself. maybe if he closed his eyes and tuned out his own voice he could just imagine the moment being a conversation between himself and paps back then before he had to kill him over and over. dust doesn't want to have to look back and see horror's mutilated skull and his permanently replaced eye. he doesn't want the fake scenario he's choosing to indulge in right now to be broken

and then i think they talk like that for a long time; because horror has a lot to say to paps about himself and what he regrets and dust has a lot of reminiscing to do on the good old days before he lost himself :3

Imagine ex-husband Gojo and your son, Sen, getting into the nastiest fight to date.

"Doman expansion: Infinity Castle!"

You feel yourself floating right side up, then everything shifts and you're suddenly falling upside down. You hit the tatami mats with an "oof!"

Sen's domain is a Japanese-style castle with infinite rooms he can manipulate at will. The domain is infinite and some rooms can lead to nowhere, reminiscent of Satoru's domain. When he and his best friend Naoki overlap their domains, one could find themselves isolated, battling shikigami in various parts of the castle.

Sen and Satoru land on their feet not far from you.

"Yikes," Satoru says. "Pretty crude, if you ask me."

"Good thing I'm not asking!" Sen would say, powering up his next attack. Satoru would move to counter and by now you have a headache and a bruise, and you've had it with the bickering.

"Domain--"

"Enough!" You put your hands together. "Domain expansion: Thousand Heavenly Gates"

The scene shifts and you find yourselves standing on water with a clear sky above you. One thousand torii gates stand tall all around you. Your ex and son feel the rage inside them start to fade away.

Pointing an accusing finger, you scold them, "You two are two of the strongest sorcerers who ever lived. Using your gifts to bicker with each other is some of the most blatant disregard for your stations I've ever seen! I don't want to see another domain used for this kind of stupidity again. Am I clear?"

"Yup."

"Yes, mama."

"Now," you say slowly. "When I drop this domain, you two are going to spend some civil father-son time together. Go get lunch. I don't care where, but on the way back, pick me up an ice cream. Double scoop. Satoru?"

You ex-husband grimaces and has the decency to look chastised. "Yeah, I know what flavor. That swirly one you like."

"Good. Don't come back until you've learned to play nice."

Imagine ex-husband Gojo picking you up from girls' night.

Sen goes back to the school dorms at night, so you figured you go out for a few drinks with your friends to catch up. Satoru heard about the event from Shoko and offered to take you home. You agreed and on the way took a detour to your favorite arcade from when you and Satoru were teens.

"Ugh! I swear these things are rigged!" you groan in frustration when the claw game drops the plushie you were aiming for.

"My turn," Satoru says. He scoots you out of the way and focuses hard on the white one-eyed cat you've been trying to get.

In the reflection of the plastic, you notice a slight glow behind Satoru's blindfold.

"No way you're using the six-eyes for this!" You whack his arm playfully, trying to stifle your laughter.

"Don't hate the player, babe, hate the game," he replies. With that, he presses the button and the claw drops. It hits the toy dead center. Closes. Lifts. The two of you hold your breaths.

And drops right into the chute.

"Yes!" you squeal while Satoru retrieves it. His face screws up in a look of contempt.

"Ew, it's even uglier up close."

You snatch it from him and hug it close to your chest. "Don't say that! He didn't mean it, Gege, don't worry."

"You named it already?"

"I named him."

"His face makes me mad for some reason."

"Your face makes me mad for many reasons."

Satoru lightly punches Gege in the face, which leads to you chasing him all the way back to the car, brandishing your new friend like a weapon.

Imagine ex-husband Gojo walking you to your front door.

You thank him for the ride and for taking you to that arcade. He doesn't need to know this, but being there with him made you feel like you were seventeen again.

Many things about Satoru remind you of how happy he made you. Even now.

"I'm sorry I acted like that," he says. Your reminiscing means you didn't catch the first part of his apology but you nod like you've been paying attention the whole time. "We're not together any more and I haven't been good about respecting boundaries and I'm sorry."

He blabbers on some more but all you can think about is how this whole apology is exactly the kind of communication you'd been wishing for throughout your marriage.

"So if you're seeing someone now, I get it. I mean, it doesn't matter if I get it or not because it's none of my business but--"

"Oh, shut up, Toru!" Fisting a hand in his shirt, you drag him to your level and kiss him like you’d never get to again.

One thing I don't like about the PJO adaptation (don't kill me) is how in this version, the kids are, like, knowing right away that a lot of things are a trap, that they most definitely did not in the source material.

I agree with Dominic Noble: that it feels like a second playthrough of a video game, where you already know all the twists.

And I liked them falling into the traps, because it fit with them being twelve-year-old children.

And as Dominic Noble also said, yes them continuing to fall into traps can feel a bit random... But that actually falls into lie with the ancient Greek and Roman myths, like the Odyssey, where that always happened to the heroes. It felt like the original story was trying to reference that and do a modern take on it. So having plot reasons for the trio to do certain things, like going to the Lotus Hotel to meet Hermes instead of just randomly ending up there, sort of hurts that feeling.

But this is just a minor complaint.
