rewatching with the benefit of distance from the actual viewing - it really is so loud at how much tommy treats buck like a child - like literally every single interaction they have in 805 is like a parent talking to a child.

Combined with the shows decision to have Tommy call Buck 'Evan' all the time, feels like they're really trying to convey that this is the relationship equivalent of Buck's childhood and young adulthood - before he became Buck. When he was figuring out his place in the world and who he wanted to be. Its very much feeling like in combination its leading up to him getting to the same place in his bisexuality as when he started at the LAFD academy and changed his name to Buck - that he will make the choice from a bisexual perspective to become Buck and leave Evan behind once more.

Not to demonize Ben's parents,

BUT, if someone like MAVERICK can admit the adults in his life failed him, I can too.

This drives me insane.

I have SO many questions.

Why did Shane want Ben to be in his group? Yes, he's tall and intimidating, but surely he's not the only one in their grade who fits that description. How long did this go on for? Aiden said It happened "every day," but how many days is that? How come Aiden literally can't remember if this happened in 6th or 7th grade? Where did the bullying take place? At school? How did he leave the building with those injuries without an adult noticing that something was wrong? How come his parents didn't say anything to the school board when their son came home, covered from head to toe in bruises? And if they did, why was nothing done?

He (11-13 year old boy) was sneaking out of the house, coming home late, and getting into STREET fights. The main and only reason he stopped was because he put his family in danger, and while I understand you can't help someone who won't accept help, they had EVERY opportunity to help him before it got to that point. He is a child. They are his parents. What if Ben never fought with the young boy whose older brother was in a gang? How long would this have gone on for? I don't know if you know anything about street fighting, but experience matters. This wasn't an act of rebellion. This was incredibly dangerous.

The worst part about it all is that Shane got what he wanted. Sure, Ben didn't join his group, but he did "fix" what he thought was wrong with Ben and inadvertently taught him how to fight. He wasn't expelled for putting him in the hospital. He wasn't expelled for bullying him or for getting his "group" to gang up on him, too. Shane was still in school by the time Ben recovered, and he would've continued to go to school with him if he hadn't moved in with his aunt and uncle. The entire thing was a disaster from start to finish.

Now, consider this; Ben has a younger sister he is incredibly protective of that he doesn't get to see very often. He physically can't be there for her if she ends up going through the same things he did. How can he trust that their parents won't fail her, like they failed him?

side note; the fact that we don't see Ben interacting with his parents, while Lily is basically racing into his arms, hurts me so bad. ARE THEY NOT CONCERNED? DO THEY NOT MISS HIM? DID I MISS A PANEL OF THEM OR SOMETHING? GOSH!!!

I get that it might not be that serious, and we never got to see how his parents handled the situation, so maybe they really were just doing their best, but I had to rant about this because I'm sooo sick and TIRED!!

the more i think about it the more im convinced the way to fix the luthor retcon is just "using the female characters". that's it. we bring in the contessa (say she duped westfield by putting lex luthor's dna in there, somehow, and this is the actual retcon part. it's smaller, and doesn't contradict rots), say that it was some secret plan of hers that never came to fruition. then we get lex being as blindsided by it as kon, and we get the contrast in how he treats baby lena vs how he treats kon (his child vs a failed tool that's nothing to him now). and we can keep the superfam as a found family, with clark, the steels, and the eradicator all reaffirming their love for kon, regardless of whose 0.01% of human dna was used to stabilize him. AND we can keep his eventual bond with lori luthor. best of both worlds!

bam!!! fixed!!! luthor retcon, now with 100% less eugenics, and 100% more of keeping kon's original scifi themes and strong feelings on personhood and conflicted feelings on how he yearns for a family!! that's it babey!!! it could've been that easy!!! the key is just... its the female characters. it's the female characters!!!!

Fëanor is not a good father!

I have been made aware that people might not be particularly fond of this sentiment so I’d like to preface this by saying that I emphasize with Fëanor as a character. I understand his struggle with ownership. I understand his rage at Melkor. As someone who has struggled with faith because I viewed divinity as being passive and inactive I understand his anger at the rest of the Valar. What I cannot commend is allowing ALL OF HIS CHILDREN TO TAKE UP THE OATH WITH HIM. And it’s the speed at which Maedhros does take up the oath that makes me believe that Fëanor wasn’t and never had been a good father.

I’ve seen the argument that a son who was scared of his father wouldn’t respond with that level of loyalty and to that end I would say I don’t think his sons were expressly scared of him. Nor do I think he didn’t love them. However I think 1. his love was deeply conditional, Maedhros’ immediate reaction to be taking up such a serious oath did not come so much from a place of loyalty so much as it did from a desire to stay in his father’s good graces. The other sons imitated their older brother’s actions because “Matimo knows best how to stay on dad’s good side.” And I think that 2. He loved them the way he loved his creations possessively and in a way that didn’t leave much room for his children to operate with much ownership over themselves. So what other thought could they have than to follow their father into madness.

He is the cause of all of his family’s initial struggles and he doesn’t live long enough to see the consequences of his own actions. His actions are not those of a man who thought about his family but who considered them to be property just as bound to him as the Silmarils were. And while I can understand his actions, Empathize with and forgive them, we should none of us commend them or overlook the danger they did

More Dad! Megatron but this time with some heavy angst.

As kids, I think we can all agree that we stumbled upon something our parents didn’t want us seeing/knowing about but did anyway no matter how careful they were.

Maybe one night, when she was supposed to be alseep, Megatron’s kid (who is young at the time like 6-10) sneaks out of bed for some reason or another and sees her dad doing something very bad and it scares her so much that she runs as quietly and quickly as she can back to her room and pretends to be asleep. The next day she is distant and fearful of her father, actively avoiding him.

Maybe Megatron knows she saw him that night or maybe he has to piece it together when she suddenly becomes distant and skittish with him afterwards but either way, their relationship probably won’t ever be the same.

Megatron knew exactly what his daughter had witnessed when she refused to meet his gaze, making herself small and quiet, even in her root-mode.

At first, he was going to leave it alone and just wait for her mother to return, but Soundwave had cornered Megatron because she had been tentatively asking the Cassettes not-so-innocent questions.

Megatron has no idea how to handle this. None of the parenting datapads and books had a chapter dedicated to navigating what to say to your traumatized child when she finds her creators in throes of rough passion and hard kinky role play.

He defers to his usual tactic: straight to the throat.

"Treasure," Megatron says and frowns when his daughter refuses to look up, field tamped down. "Look at me."

Never will he say it, but his spark breaks a bit when he sees the tears gathered in those optics, mouth quivering as her plating is closed off.

"I'm sure you have questions about what you've seen between your carrier and myself."

There's a loud sniffle, and Megatron wipes away those tears, fetching a spare rag from his subspace, coaxing her to blow her nose. Thankfully, she does, and he sets the wet rag aside.

"Adults," he begins, trying to formulate an age-appropriate response, "enjoy playing adult games. And those games can be very rough."

"Mommy said to stop..." And his spark really does break at her tone, confused and afraid at the sight of her sire dominating her fragile carrier in an extremely unkind way.

"Your carrier and I were playing pretend. You like pretending with your dolls, yes? It's like that. Because it's pretend, we have a secret code that really means stop."

She looks less tearful and more curious at that point, her field cautiously mingling into his as she begins to relax.

Mission accomplished.

"Do you have any questions?"

"What's a fleshlight?"

At that very moment, Megatron desperately wishes for a surprise Autobot attack.

(Surprisingly, the universe answers it.)

I’ll get into an interview debate today: people are way to over protective of their kids these days to the point of their own (kids and parents) detriment.

“What if my kid gets into the laundry at the age of 9 and eats chemicals? I must ban them from this area, install a lock and supervise them at all times!!”

Hey again!! No worries I LOVE talking about my fic so questions and rants just make me super happy and proud!!! :DDD

So Azure in the show is manipulative. He manipulates MK into going into the scroll to get his brothers. He tries to talk MK into leaving Wukong. Plus he's the type that sees if the ends justify the means then it's worth it. I mean he destroyed the area around his paradise, but he got Camel Ridge so it was worth it (nevermind all the death literally surrounding it). And once he has his mind set then there's no changing it. In his eyes DBK and PIF are traitors, even tho PIF betrayed Heaven and has lived as a demon for a super long time. And DBK had literally just recently "retired" his demonic war-waging ways. But I guess only his people get to beat on demons and the like then betray Heaven and join the cool kids club; PIF was late so she doesn't get a seat at the table idk (can you tell this is a big issue for me lol). Anyway, he's charming and has got a lot of charisma and wields it well. So in my fic I just expanded on that.

Now to put his mindset in the fic into perspective think of the biggest current day superstar. Someone most people in the world would recognize or at least have some familiarity with the name. If that person suddenly started dating someone, everyone would then know their name and they would ROCKET up to new heights. That's a SUPER tempting promotion and seems so easy to get. Date the biggest celebrity, stay with them for awhile and then BAM you're now a known name, not just someone in the credits. That's the main goal for Azure.

And now we get into my headcannon's for Azure and Wukong in LMK:

In the show I got STRONG lionpeach vibes because I mean...Azure looking at Wukong with those eyes. BUT he only saw what he wanted to in Wukong, a strong and caring leader. But Wukong was also reckless, greedy (left his people and his island often for power and titles), and clearly was a prankster/jokester. Now I don't believe this is even shown in the show, but I think part of the reason Azure is so mad at Wukong isn't just him betraying them but him not being everything he thought Wukong was. Wukong not fitting the mold Azure's mind had him in. Wukong couldn't defeat the Jade Emperor and instead gave up (not fight till the end), Wukong wasn't strong enough to win, Wukong wasn't a leader but a follower of a human monk. So many let downs and that's why he was ready to turn on Wukong before the fight between the jttw crew and Camel Ridge crew. Yet he still loved or at least wanted Wukong or some control over him. So he didn't want Wukong dead, he just wanted him trapped and then he'd decide when to free the monkey. All this is to say that's also what I did in my fic. He may like Wukong, but he doesn't love him because Wukong isn't just a good actor, he's also a dork who prefers to eat fruit all day and has a pool even tho he can't swim and refuses to learn.

tldr: I HC that LMK Azure saw in Wukong what he wanted to see and got disappointed at the real him, so I also emulated that in my fic

I’ve seen a few fics where Buck gives his kid the name/middle name Daniel(or Danielle if it’s a girl) and I think that’s a valid interpretation and something he’d probably consider doing.

But I’d really like to see a fic where his kid is almost due and his parents are visiting and one of them floats that as an idea and Buck is immediately like absolutely the fuck not because he’s felt the weight of Daniel’s ghost his entire life and as much as he loves and mourns his brother he isn’t going to let any of that touch his kid - he just can’t

And of course his partner would back him up on this (works for Buddie or Bucktommy, whatever floats your boat)
