... Okay but my general idea of this was that the celestial realm realized that the child of Wukong and Macaque was... Odd. Like he wasn't supposed to exist at all. So during season 5 although Azure Lion did get released and Xiangliu is still secretly in the council, I'm pretty sure he wasn't expecting for Li Jing to target the child of all things! He knew that kid was special, and had this... Lost purpose. But literally "collaring" the kid was not what he wanted!

The world isn't directly falling apart because MK managed to warn everyone over Azure Lion the moment he spotted the scroll being out. So the Jade Emperor never died. But the celestial realm still thought that the monkeys were too huge of a risk and needed them to be contained.

So uh... Yeah.

I need to drop my designs for the East and West dragon clans so you'll have context when I eventually start explaining my version of Ao Bing's backstory and also I need to ramble about them even though literally no one asked

Full body ref sheets for the East Sea dragons, lore dump under the cut:

EAST SEA:

Ao Bing and Longnü are the closest due to being the youngest, and also the huge age gap between them and the other two. Ao Yi only really connected with Longnü after Ao Bing died. Ao Jia doesn't have much of a relationship with any of them other than Ao Yi

Ao Jia is the only one that doesn't have a unique colour on his clothes due to him being the heir to the East Dragon Clan. It's also why his base layer is the most elaborate and he doesn't have any other layers in contrast with his siblings. The same can be said about Ao Moang and his siblings

Ao Bing's light purple layer used to belong to Longnü. It was the first thing she gave him when he was brought back to life

All four siblings have pearls on them. It's a tribute to their mother, who used to always have pearls on her outfit

The amount of pearls on their outfits equals to how favoured they are in the eyes of the clan

Longnü has the most pearls as she is the clan's only princess and most favoured child, amongst the public, that is

Ao Yi has the second most. He's the one who's away from the palace the most since he's the one who takes care of the East Clan's diplomatic relations but the public loves him because he's always kind and charming and one of the reasons they prosper

Ao Jia stays in the palace taking care of affairs from the inside. The public doesn't have any particularly strong feelings about him but they like him well enough. He's their crown prince, he's the one who will take care of the clan if something ever happened to Ao Guang like it did to Ao Ji

Ao Bing is not well liked amongst the clan. He's not even recognized as a prince anymore

Ao Jia has the longest hair amongst the four of them. He doesn't really like that. It reminds him of his mother

None of them like being in the East Sea Palace. They all find it suffocating. It's why Ao Yi took a position that stays away

Out all four of them, Ao Bing is the one who looks the most like their late mother but he has many of Ao Guang's mannerisms

In contrast, Longnü is the one that looks the most like Ao Guang but acts like their mother did in her youth

Ao Yi does not like addressing any of his or his family's issues, but he will be the first to step up if things go to shit

Ao Bing used to have his ears pierced, he got them pierced for his 12th birthday. It was only a few days later that he died. When he was brought back, they were healed over and he never got around to doing them again

The only one out of the four of them who's ever been in a long term serious romantic relationship is Ao Bing… yikes guys

Longnü is the one who brought Ao Bing back to life... With the help of a few friends

Ao Bing and Longnü don't really remember what their mother looked like. Longnü was only 3 when she died and their mother never looked at Ao Bing enough for him to remember her face

Because Longnü was so young when their mother died, Ao Bing took it upon himself to be her primary caregiver until his untimely death. He had a lot of help from Nezha and Lady Yin during this

None of the royal dragons from the East or West Sea are fond of Nezha, save for Ao Lie, Longnü and Ao Bing. They would all jump him if they could

Ao Bing would often take Longnü to the surface whenever he went to play with Nezha. That's how she met Li Zhenying, Nezha's younger sister and became friends with her

Longnü is currently in exile for her crimes. She's allowed visitors but none that share her blood. Not that she gets visitors often anyway

Longnü’s most frequent visitors are Zhenying and Erlang Shen, on behalf of Cinxin. They're both busy though so visits are few and far between

WEST SEA:

Cinxin is married to Erlang Shen. It's funny because the 'big three' (Sun Wukong, Nezha, Erlang Shen) in Chinese mythology are technically related by marriage in my au lmao. Family reunions must be fun

All of the West Sea children are younger than Ao Bing, therefore, when he came back to life many centuries later, he had and still has trouble connecting his little cousins to their now grownup versions

Currently, Ao Moang is the King of the West Sea. He and Cinxin are the only remaining members of the original West Sea royal family left

Cinxin is still a disciple of Guanyin, a senior disciple. A notable friend of hers is one Li Muzha, who she still works alongside to this day

Neither Ao Moang or Ao Lie really liked Erlang Shen all that much. They both really liked his dog though

Ao Ji liked things orderly, which is why his children are separated by two years each in contrast to Ao Guang's ‘fuck it we ball' attitude when it comes to his children

Ao Moang inherited this need for order. Cinxin and Ao Lie did not

Like Ao Lie said, Cinxin is rough around the edges, hot-headed and impulsive, much like Mei. She only ever shows restraint when she's with her master, Guanyin

In contrast, Ao Moang is rather relaxed about personal matters. Not as world weary as Ao Jia or as avoidant of things like Ao Yi. He's a king now, such things need to be put aside

Because Ao Lie and Longnü are the same age and because they both regarded Ao Bing as their favourite family member, they grew rather close after his death. Ao Lie did have a hand in bringing Ao Bing back to life

Ao Moang spends most of his time at the West Sea Palace while Cinxin spends her time in the Celestial Realm. They never talked much before but definitely sparingly now, after Ao Lie’s death

Ao Moang has a hard time connecting with people, he doesn't know how to talk to them, even if they're family. Actually, maybe especially if they're family

Ao Lie never really connected with his siblings before or even after the journey to the west. He and Cinxin got along well enough but that was about it

Cinxin hates needles. She used to have her ears pierced but uhhh let's just say they got ripped out by a certain Monkey King when she was visiting the East Sea

Ao Moang is married. To whom? A woman. I won't give her a face or a name, if I ever draw her she'll just be a nondescript woman with a veil over her face, it's just the curse of the Dragon Queens to never be named. Just know that she does indeed exist and the East Sea royal dragons are just naturally bitchless

Ao Lie still did set fire to part of the West Sea Palace and destroyed a precious pearl, leading to his death sentence. Part of the reason he was spared from death was because of Cinxin going to her master and begging for her younger brother’s life. Ao Lie was never told this

The Iron Fox and the Lotus Prince, aka Heaven’s Finest (the title is only half mocking initially)

Post Season 5 storyline: After redeeming herself through the dedication and potential she showed during the Pillar of Heaven’s destruction -- and also faced with the fact this girl might just be his friend now - Ne Zha was quick to recommended to his father the recruitment of Tie Hu into their realm. She clearly had some celestial power already, and a drive for justice that included a rare sense of clarity. Both expected some hesitation from the fox, a desire to take in the new world at her own pace, regain the freedom she lost during her time as a prisoner and get some well earned rest.

But Tie Hu had been thinking the exact same thing, and accepted almost immediately. Nothing is earned for her, or any being with a hint of heaven in them -- not yet. But she and the young Lotus Prince would make it so, with daunting legacies behind them and an upturned order before them.

They have much work to do.

(TLDR Tie Hu decides to become a celestial warrior after season 5, helping Ne Zha clean that place up and sorting out the rest from there. She trains with him to better understand her heavenly capabilities, they become each other’s fellow soldiers and emotional support buddy partners because we all know Ne Zha needs a friend)

Happy Easter everyone!! I thought this would be a nice treat for today

Does Mk have any nightmares from the previous cycle the still stuck with him? If so when they get that bad and end up with him crying who would come rushing first? Wukong or Macaque?

He do get nightmares, a lot of them at first.

The first week after getting in this new cycle, MK will want to sleep in his own room, sleeping in a nest with Macaque is too weird for him; so sleeping alone it is. But he's having trouble falling asleep, and when he, he get nightmares of events from the previous cycle. But he's not gonna said it to Macaque.

But one night, when his nightmares get very bad ( worst case scenario kind of nightmare), he wake up in the middle on the night crying. Macaque rush to his room, calmly knock on the door and enter the room, asking what wrong.

Mk finally admit he get nightmares. Macaque knew of course, with his hearing, but this time it sound especially bad, so he had to see MK.

After he calm down, Macaque ask MK if he still want to sleep alone. He understand it must be weird for him to sleep with his parent, but that's how monkeys do. And doing that might help with his insomnia and nightmares.

So Mk, after pondering for some time, he awkwardly accept, tired from his lack of sleep and the horrible images his brain created for him in his nightmare.

Getting in the nest, Xiaotian was so embarassed, but he fall asleep very quickly. It was the first time since he got there he got a good night of sleep.

He would still get nightmare some night, but Macaque would be here for him, and of course Wukong when he would no longer be under the mountain.

But in the case of him sleeping in his room and both Macaque and Wukong are there (so after JTTW), Macaque would be the first to hear it. He would then wake Wukong and tell him that MK is crying, and Wukong would immediately rush to MK They would both rush to MK, but Wukong would be the first to act 😌

First our little baby, with his blank stare. He is 3 and is still rather mute besides the few words he knows+chirping.

(Bros like max from Max and Ruby, like he'll just say 1 word on repeat like a broken record sometimes)

Friends with Mei(she's like 4-5), can't hold a human form for long. Normally just in his monkey form, or in a simple disguise.

Loves art and his monkey plush(I did not have room to draw them)

Was woken up to early, by a unknown person.

So from years of self isolation and not interacting with the outside world besides some promotional stuff (movies, toys ect.), he's gain Hugh social anxiety, this is like stage fright but 10x.

He doesn't go outside, so is a stay at home dad for Mk. He does have a therapist that he does online therapy with to help with it(sometimes they do in person)

She's married to Macaque but not officially, you see they've courted(macaque courted) but by human/modern standers they're not married.

Despite going by baba, he is more of the classic mom. Basically overly worrying about Mk and stuff.(Especially when he was in the rock egg)

Her and macaque have matching earrings.

Him and Macaque used human disguises when Pigsy and Tang first moved in.

The monkey who is one of the breadwinners in this chaotic family.

He was the first to suggest moving to make sure heaven couldn't track them. He bought a house near the city but just slightly on the outskirts (like Meis home kinda, at least with location.) There's still neighbors nearby, just not directly crammed near them.

The reason for this particular location is that it stills let them be within nature, and have their power be disguised with the many beings in Megaopolis. (They take the bus to the city or just walk)

Was revived by the lady bone demon after a few years(centures)after the journey, he planned to kill Wukong or at least confront him. But ended up staying on flower fruit mountain and soon courting him.

Was the first to find Mk's egg after some of the monkeys dragged him over.

They feel immense guilt of Mk hatching centuries too early; he had heard someone on Flower fruit mountain but arrived to late to stop them.

That plus hearing some stuff from the celestial realm, convinced him to leave before the celestial realm could take Mk.

Does theatre (bro's a theater kid), and will preform little shadow plays in the library.

The 2nd bread winner in this family

Knew Tang for a few years before meeting the monkeys(Tang introduced him)

He was struggling living on a strict budget in his noodle shop, before moving in. But was extremely hesitant to accept the offer, his pride had him refusing until he had no choice.

Was meant to be a 1 time thing, it was not.

Despite the two monkeys wearing disguises (Mk didn't have one), he found out who they were easily. It wasn't hard since all he had to do was look at Mk's little dolls and some of those terrible monkey cop shows to realize who they are. (Not to mention they had terrible fake names)

Is married/engaged to Tang(they get married when Mk is 5)

He gets to his business at around 7 to get everything situated and ready to prepare. People come in to order, cause he does not have any workers but himself to deliver fast enough. (Macaque helps sometimes)

He takes the bus, but most the time prefers the tuk tuk or walking as a way to travel. Needs a white noise machine just to feel like he's in the city. (You can hear the city but barely)

And now we got the last man

Is no contact with his family

Goes to college(for what? Idk), studies ancient civilization and the gods. Does a lot of research.

Works at the library part time, met Pigsy when he first moved to Megalopolis.

Met Macaque first and introduced him to Pigsy, was the one to suggest living with the monkeys.

Fell in love with Mk the moment he saw the little baby, would tell him stories about Monkey King and stuff. (Very embarrassed that the actual monkey king heard him tell/inact this stories)

Gets mistaken as Mk's bio dad a lot, it's flattering but it always leaves him a bit flustered.

Both him and Pigsy have legal guardian ship over Mk. This was suggested by Macaque, who thought it would be beneficial. They are in the kids life 24/7, and if there's ever a situation where He and Wukong won't be there he wants Mk to be in good hands.

Was weird around Wukong after finding out who he was. Acted like a nervous little fan boy around him, but now they're chill. Will openly criticize Monkey king with Macaque about a certain story. (Will sometimes still get Excitedable about certain things.)

I know this isn't quite the design you made for rotten fruits au but I just wanted to delve into the idea of Wukong once being a juvenile criminal who was wrongfully tortured has been through hell and back but has been rehabilitated and is now a fruit seller.

I don't remember how old he's meant to be but I assumed given he and mac are similar ages and Mac has kids that are like around 10 maybe they're probably in their mid-thirties by demon standards so yea, very chillaxed uncle vibe, the eyebags support that but also cause he been through da trauma :(

You said he's built quite the reputation and in one of the asks he thinks he could just slap on a hat and sunglasses as a disguise lol so I thought why not give him the bucket/sun hat and sunglasses he has in the beach scene

Then the rest of the outfit fell from there.

Idk, why but I thought a cool shark-tooth or maybe like a claw or geode necklace would be cool as like a small good memory from his criminal past.

The peach shirt, I'm pretty sure I've used before I'm not sure BUT I knew I had to include the hoodie somehow so I just tied it around his waist since if most of the year Megapolis (or at least I'm assuming the au takes place there) is sunny and he's hauling lots of fruits around then short sleeves are more practical for him.

Sweatpants and sandals, not much else to say, just seems like some good ol practical wear at a fruit market, but the fingerless gloves were a fun touch to still give him that hint of a youthful spirit and maybe hint at his criminal past...

Then I realised his design looked way too much like his beach outfit sans the hoodie and pink fur so I added the fanny pack since that's basically a staple for any shopkeeper in a market but he still looked too much like a beach bum so I made the second backup outfit just in case

(Though maybe that could be his downtime outfit?)

Second outfit, thought it'd be practical for him to put his hair up in a ponytail since he's working and I love long hair Wukong and all but why not have fun with the hairstyles.

I think the apron and the cap really sell the fruit seller look. Very classic and the face mask is just a bonus on top.

I also didn't draw the scar where the circlet would be because I imagine he'd try to hide it with hats so you'd rarely see him without them.

I also have to wonder despite the fur, did he have any tatoos since he was like in a gang and young and dumb?

Maybe the pink was meant to cover up those marks and make up for the loss of noticible missing patches of fur from torture (poor baby...) Just food for thought.

I'd also imagine before finding his footing at his fruit stall, he'd help work for pigsy as like a waiter and I saw this meme of like restaurants in Malaysia where the waiters scream your order at the freaking top of their lungs and that just seemed so Wukong coded lol

(also @ainnur, just curious but do you happen to be Malaysian or live in Malaysia at one point cause I saw your ask of Wukong using ringits at the fruit stall with your OC who asked for durian and I had a sneaking suspicion lmao)

And don't be expecting any frequent updates cause Ima most likely be really busy in the following months but glad this piece got me out of the weeds for a bit

EDIT: Forgot to include in the sketch but I think a bandana (not the strip type like MK's, more like the square bit of fabric like cleaning maids wear) tied around his head would be cute, then he and MK could match!

thinking of an AU where All the family “photos” and paintings belonging to the bull family are all made by Wukong and I imagine this would help him squeeze his way back into the bull family‘s life once he trapped DBK under a mountain so I also get Uncle Wukong which I fucking love honestly, I just get so much reconciliation and wholesome shit with this AU I fucking love it
