whenever right wing people talk about “parental rights” they are talking about property rights. they are arguing for further political and legal enshrinement of their children as their literal actual property

It was a quiet morning in Belobog when Gepard felt the strange hum of energy near his quarters. He was in the midst of preparing for his duties as Captain of the Silvermane Guards, but something told him that today would be anything but ordinary.
The air shimmered briefly, and before him stood a young child—no older than twelve—dressed in unfamiliar clothing. The child had a strange aura about them, their presence both comforting and bewildering. The child’s hair resembled his own, and the eyes, though softer, were unmistakably his. They even stood with a quiet dignity, much like him, though they wore a curious look on their face as they took in the surroundings.
"Captain Landau," the child spoke, their voice clear yet tinged with a familiarity that sent a shiver down his spine. "It’s so nice to finally meet you."
Gepard’s brow furrowed. "And who might you be, child?" he asked, his hand instinctively resting on the hilt of his sword. Despite his confusion, his protective instincts kicked in.
"I’m... your child," the young one replied, somewhat sheepishly. "From the future. I... uh, sort of messed with a device and ended up here."
Gepard's eyes widened in surprise, and for a moment, the world seemed to freeze around him. His child? From the future? A million questions flooded his mind, but the most pressing was, "How did you get here?"
The child smiled sheepishly, holding up a small, glowing device. "I wasn’t trying to time travel, honest! But the device malfunctioned, and... here I am. I just wanted to see what you were like back then."
Despite the whirlwind of emotions crashing through him—astonishment, worry, and something else he couldn't quite place—Gepard knelt down to the child's level. "Then... you’re safe. That’s all that matters. I won’t let anything happen to you."
The child smiled warmly, and Gepard’s heart clenched. He didn't know what the future held, but with this child in front of him, the weight of his duty to protect the people of Belobog felt more personal than ever.

Diluc stood at the balcony of his manor, gazing at the sky. It had been a peaceful evening, and yet, something about the air felt charged with an unfamiliar energy. His thoughts were momentarily interrupted by a soft voice calling from the doorway.
"Daddy?"
Diluc turned sharply, his heart racing. Standing before him was a young child, their hair practically glowing in the fading light, a small figure dressed in an outfit that looked both futuristic and out of place. Their eyes, a perfect blend of his own, looked up at him with confusion and a little bit of awe.
"Who are you?" Diluc asked, his voice soft but firm, wary of the sudden intrusion.
The child hesitated for a moment before grinning, their expression full of mischievous confidence. "I’m your kid! Well, I’m from the future, but I wanted to see you back when you were younger. So... I accidentally used a time-traveling device and, uh, here I am."
Diluc’s heart skipped a beat. His child? From the future? He stared at the child, momentarily lost for words. His gaze softened as he looked at the redhead who had inherited his fiery hair and, undoubtedly, a fierce spirit.
"You’re... my child?" Diluc muttered, his hand resting on the balcony railing, as if steadying himself. "How is this possible?"
The child’s grin widened. "I’m not sure how I got here, but I guess this is your present! Cool, huh?"
Diluc chuckled, shaking his head in disbelief. Despite the strange situation, he couldn’t help but feel a flicker of warmth in his chest. "You’re quite the troublemaker, aren’t you?" he said, his voice filled with affection.
The child laughed, and Diluc’s stoic demeanor melted for a moment, replaced by something akin to hope. Maybe the future wasn’t as uncertain as he thought, if this was what awaited him—someone to carry on his legacy, someone to share his heart.

Kaeya was lounging in his office, his feet propped up on his desk as he sipped his drink, savoring the silence. That was until the air around him began to shimmer and warp, and suddenly, a small figure appeared at the doorway.
Kaeya’s gaze locked onto the child standing there, their his, and their eyes—bright and familiar—locked with his. The child was grinning mischievously, their posture radiating the same confidence that Kaeya himself carried.
"Well, well, who do we have here?" Kaeya raised an eyebrow, leaning back in his chair with a smirk. "You seem familiar, little one."
"I’m your kid from the future," the child replied cheerfully, practically bouncing with excitement. "I wanted to meet you, and—well—I may have messed up a little with a time-traveling device. Whoops!"
Kaeya leaned forward, his smirk turning into a full-blown grin. "From the future, huh? Interesting. So, what brings you to the past?"
The child put their hands on their hips, looking proud. "I just wanted to see you back when you were younger. And maybe cause a little trouble along the way."
Kaeya chuckled, the sound rich with amusement. "Of course, I’m raising a troublemaker. Seems like you’ve inherited more than just my looks, haven’t you?"
The child nodded enthusiastically. "Definitely! Got all your charm, too."
Kaeya’s heart warmed at the sight of the child—his child—standing before him. He wasn’t sure what the future held, but seeing this little version of himself made him believe that maybe, just maybe, it could be a future worth fighting for.

Sampo was busy in his workshop, his hands deftly working on a new "project" when he felt a sudden shift in the air. He looked up to find a small figure standing before him, their appearance completely out of place. Their eyes and mischievous grin were all too familiar.
"Well, well," Sampo said, raising an eyebrow. "Who’s this little troublemaker?"
The child, no older than twelve, grinned. "I’m your kid from the future! I wanted to meet you, and I might’ve messed up with a time-traveling device... but I’m here now!"
Sampo laughed, his usual charm never faltering. "Oh, is that so? A little time traveler, huh? You’ve got guts to show up like this."
"Yeah! I figured if anyone could handle a little mischief, it’d be you," the child replied, eyes sparkling. "So, what’s it like in the present or the past? I bet it’s all sorts of exciting!"
Sampo’s heart skipped a beat. His child. From the future. The idea was surreal, but there was something undeniably precious about this small version of himself standing before him.
"Well, the present is never boring," he said, grinning. "But I’m sure you’ve got a lot to learn before you can keep up with me."
The child grinned back, full of mischief and curiosity, and Sampo couldn’t help but feel a sense of pride. Despite all his faults, maybe this little one was proof that, somewhere down the line, he’d found something truly worth protecting.

The Helena diaz of it all has me fascinated. I’ve said for a long while that Eddie’s real issues are his mommy issues and this episode just cemented for me that we’re gonna explore that and deal with it.
Because it’s Helena who forced Eddie to grow up to fast - because her husband wasn’t around much - so she pushed Eddie into de facto parent and husband role ls - selfishly filling her needs and ignoring the damage it was doing to her son (it is a form of abuse in my book).
Eddie then had the audacity to fall in love with and marry Shannon and get her pregnant. It’s why Helena was always so off with Shannon - she was punishing her. She is also punishing Eddie for all of this and his refusal to return to El Paso only cemented further her bitterness and resentment.
Now she does have Ramon back she doesn’t need Eddie any longer to fill that role so she is still punishing him and part of that is tied into her glee over now getting to parent Christopher - something she has always been intent on doing the doppelgänger just gave her the opportunity- as well as allowing her to further punish her son and his love of Shannon.
Her barbed comments about building a pool were all about showing what she can provide Christopher - how she is parenting him better than Eddie - it’s part of her mind games - making Eddie feel like more of a failure as a parent to his son.
The reality of course is that the reverse is true - Helena’s parenting is all superficial, flash and showy - it isn’t the hard day to day parenting when things get tough and you have to be the bad guy. While Eddie has made mistakes, there is nothing superficial, flash, or showy about his parenting. It’s why bucks comments about Eddie being a great dad are so important.
Eddie feel like a failure right now and that he is entirely to blame for everything. But in reality, while he does bear a bit of the responsibility, the truth of the matter is that he needs to learn and deal with the fact that all of it actually stems from Helena and her abuse of her young son - Shannon never stood a chance just like Eddie never has.
#genuinely don’t see how she can get any sort of redemption arc#but this is 911 so maybe they’ll find a way 🤷🏻‍♀️#Helena’s treatment of Eddie is a form of child abuse - it has done so much damage to him psychologically#I do really hope we finally get to meet Sophia and adriana as part of this arc beciase I think it might be very revealing#I am also wondering if Ramon had a stache in the past - and that is what Eddie is subconsciously trying to mimic#and that is about him trying to regain his mothers affection - trying to fill that husband role she forced him into#and that shaving it off is a part of his dealing with that and choosing to free himself from her clutches#and in doing that - standing up for himself etc - it will be the trigger that v ring schristopher back#the catholic guilt and Eddie’s queerness is also all tied up in this - the church reinforces and condones Helena and her actions#the Catholic Church has a long history of abuse of children in all it’s horrendous forms#so Eddie seeking solace in that direction think it will help him find away back to Helena’s good books only for it to open a few doors he#has bolted shut#as for the queer aspect - forcing Eddie to grow up too fast and fill this role of husband to his mother and parent to his siblings means#Eddie never got the chance to learn who he actually is - to explore his sexuality and all that goes with that - at the age one normally#would - as a teenager and into your 20’s. it explains so much around his relationship with Shannon and dealing with the helana of it all#and the queerness of his identity - will also allow him to actually let Shannon go#Eddie’s arc is going to be incredible - heartbreaking and gut wrenching - but incredible#Helena diaz it’s on sight - she is evil and cannot be redeemed in my eyes!#911 spoilers#Thinky thoughts#eddie diaz#911 abc

I absolutely don't think Shen Jiu should ever be a parent, but I think he would be a bad parent in really interesting ways, even when circumstances are otherwise right for him to love his child (there are many ways for circumstances to Not be right, but we will not be getting into those today). There's a lot of ways for that to play out, but imo, these are his main flaws that would affect his parenting:
SJ is not good at regulating his emotions; in canon, as an adult, he seems to repress his "weak" emotions and let anger and resentment simmer until he blows up. There's a lot of reasons why emotional regulation is an important parenting skill, but the main ones are that children often pick up whatever behaviors their parents model, and SJ would likely pass his bad relationship with his emotions on to his child, and perhaps more importantly, that poor emotional regulation makes parents more likely to lose their temper with their children and treat them in cruel or otherwise age-inappropriate ways that they wouldn't normally.
SJ is bad at taking care of himself, particularly his emotional needs. There's several different possible outcomes of that, but I think the main considerations are that a man who is falling apart at the seams or rocketing towards is own self destruction will Not, generally, be very well equip to take proper care of another child. The second factor there is that an irresponsible parent often creates an adulitifed child as the child tries to either take care of the person they love, or mitigate the risk of their parent's poor moods.
SJ hates himself. Aside from the afore mentioned problem with modeling behaviors, if SJ too much of himself in his child could cause him to project that self hatred onto them as he does with Binghe in canon.
SJ has [Qi-ge induced] abandonment issues, and in any situation where his relationship with YQY isn't fully resolved/mended, he is sure as hell going to be putting those issues on this little creature who has no choice but to love him/who can't leave him, at least for now. SJ doesn't trust anyone to really love him, which means he'll either preemptively place emotional distance between himself and his child in anticipation of them coming to hate him, or he'll desperately cling to the child's naive affection, certain its a limited resource that he has to preserve by force.
Anyways. We've see the range of how SJ treats children that aren't his with LBH and NYY, and I think that with SJ's own child, they'd likely experience that whole range, first in line for both his love and anger, stuck standing too close to a fire that both warms and burns.

Jesus is my older brother, not my dad.
other christians don't seem to feel the same?
am i missing something where he insists on such a thing except perhaps with actual little children?
#christianity#tumblrstake#Quakers#i just want to know what y'all think#progressive christianity#some christians see themselves as his children#but again most chrsitians are sippin trinity juice so the Father is the Son? egro Jesus can be Dad#i guess i'm not a true monotheist bc if Jesus is a child of God and told his disciples to call him friend. he is my peer#Jesus is my peer - big brother - mentor - friend#God the creator is my Mother/Father/Parent(s) as well as Jesus'#Jesus and I are both children of God and Jesus is my teacher/my respected older brother/ my friend#i think the Holy Spirit is what generally moves around among humans and through humans. experiencing God through others.#also an internal prompting on what direction to take (which typically needs to undergo through discernment) but is sometimes an act rn thing#hence the gift of the Holy Spirit being gifted to us#but now i'm getting theological in the tags#did i mention that all of this is through my christian lense and a muslim could have a different perception and be just as valid#and thats on different ways people see the Divine and how the Divine presents Godself/selves to different people#i know this because Heavenly Mother was at my conversion experience. she offered an invitation - an embrace#and i took it immediately a wept#and i think that presentation was intentional bc i may not have/wouldn't have reacted the same way to Heavenly Father#our relationship is good now - Heavenly Father and I -currently on the rocks in my “ God#in my “God - why?” era. shit has been dark. and people are commiting atrocites in your name#i do pray for their smitting. but only in a way God with Hir cosmic justice sees fit#and for softened hearts more often but on one occassion it was “plz get these sinners in line” and pulling out psalm 94#Godposting#religion

well aware that this is common knowledge but it'll always kill me that bruces grief will last forever. Batman is a concept, a character in a comic book and because of the nature of comic books lasting for like ever he's going to repeat the same plots and learn the same lessons over and over and over. Closure quite literally doesn't exist for Bruce Wayne because he'll be in that alley for eternity, he'll keep holding his kids in his arms as they die and failing to save people for eternity. Concepts are eternal, batman is eternal. His grief will last forever.

Machete has parents?? I'm not familiar with their actual lore, so I've been imagining Machete as a desolate victorian orphan boy
Everyone has parents, he didn't materialize out of thin air (or evolve from a crumpled napkin).
But he lost contact with them early on and doesn't remember much of anything about them. Machete was a sickly kid and his family was going through a rough patch at the time, they were constantly struggling to find the time and funds to care for him. Child mortality was high and it was starting to look increasingly likely that he wouldn't make it. He was around three or four when they left him at the closest monastery that accepted foundlings and he hasn't heard of them since.

I think something interesting in the damian&danny twins/danyal al ghul au that i don't see explored,,, basically ever, is how Danny heals.
I always see his personality made more similar to Damian's, which does make sense bc of his altered childhood. But i think it's far more interesting to keep it more canonincal.
He doesn't text w proper grammar bc he rejects the strict way he was raised. He makes puns and jokes and laughs freely because he was never allowed that when he was young. He freely admits to caring about his friends and family bc that is something he can have now.
I want to see a healed Danny. I want to see an Al Ghul that actually got to leave the league, got to heal and become normal.
And it'd add a really interesting aspect to his death, and Phantom. He escaped and he healed and then he still got fucked over and lost it all.
He's right back to having to fight constantly, his friends are weaknesses that can be exploited against him, and his parents are fighting him.
Danny directly and explicitly rejecting his upbringing and taking his life back. Eating nasty burger and playing doomed and having friends and crushes like a normal teenager.
And then losing it all.
(But better to be like his father than his mother.)

someone could write pages and pages and pages and pages on elu thingol's life. he could be the protagonist of like five book trilogies each with 600 words per book. he was born in cuivienen where the first non-divine life awakened; he lived through morgoth's earlier attempts to corrupt the elves and very likely lost people he cared about to them; he witnessed the war of the powers; he was among the first of his people to see valinor, having visited it under the invitation of the deities who helped originate the universe; he was the sole flesh-and-blood being in all!! of!!! history!!!! who met, fell in love with, and married a goddess that was there before creation even existed; he and said goddess were the progenitors of a unique bloodline that produced some of the legendarium's most famous figures; he separated from his brother for a very very long time; he was so loved by his people that they refused paradise if he wasn't there with them; he fought battles against morgoth's forces and saw loss as well as triumph during those battles; he was one of the oldest beings and longest-reigning kings in all of beleriand, not to mention he ruled its most ancient and most mystical, otherworldly kingdom; he was the father of two of the most famous heroes in-verse, whose deeds and stories continued to be told millennia after their deaths; he was again the first!! and!!! only!!!! elf-king in all of history to adopt a human as his own son. and throughout it all, he has a cohesive character arc. he grows to respect a people whom he once distrusted and looked down on; he comes to accept the choices of those he cares about even if he doesn't agree with said choices; he has to learn to let go of his loved ones no matter how much it grieves him. if those five trilogies existed i would be reading and rereading every single one obsessively

''People who lacked emotional engagement in childhood, men and women alike, often can’t believe that someone would want to have a relationship with them just because of who they are. They believe that if they want closeness, they must play a role that always puts the other person first.''
