the Batfamily is quippy despite being quite serious, in most incarnations. but not Marvel quippy. the kind of quippy where you're staring down a threat (collapsing building, villain hurtling toward you, etc) and instead of joking about it being a rough day, they say man, this is gonna hurt or I just finished healing from all those broken ribs or even I really hope I live through this. all painfully true. it's going to hurt, you're definitely going to re-break all those healed ribs, and yeah, you might not live through it.

I understand horror, as a genre, basically feeds into whatever social ills and (massive) hang ups a culture is going through and apparently what kept the Religious Right up at night were groups of women communally living together without men ----- sorry, I meant, "Covens of evil, oversexed lesbian witches in league with Satan."

Fëanorian Week 2023, Day 1: Maedhros

I’m so late with these I’m not even fashionably late.  But better late than never (cf. Fingolfin, probably, after finally getting to Middle Earth).

To anyone who went “Hmm I wonder if the theme this year is going to be classical sculpture?”, well, congratulations, you’re right, though I don’t know how you would have guessed that.  I was originally going to do something where I based each drawing off the meaning of the name, and since “Maitimo” means “well-shaped one” the first thing that came to mind was a Greek or Renaissance statue.  But after finishing it I decided that it had been a lot of fun and I might as well do the rest the same way.  And it sort of fit into the whole Fëanorian theme since Nerdanel is a sculptor.

We are blessed to have so many artists online making good art, and writers crafting good fics. There's so much to appreciate to be honest. Not enough time or energy in the world to reblog and share it all. I'll do my best all the same though! Tumblr can keep shadowbanning me, and terminating me (I hope they don't but) I will share my positive feelings about art, and share all of those posts with my mutuals damn it!

okay so. am i the only person who thinks its a little ridiculous to say you cant think a character is attractive because said character is a minor when said character is a) a teenager and b) animated?

like im sorry but i dont think its immoral to look at a drawing of a fictional 14 year old and think theyre hot.

and i also dont think its an immoral act to have them in a tournament of "most attractive X character" because those tournaments almost entirely consist of two pictures of fictional characters and a poll asking which is more attractive.

theyre not real. its a drawing of a person, and that person isnt actually 14 because theyre not real. in the media theyre in, they are canonically 14 but that media itself is entirely fictional.

like this is all just thought crime. its puritanism in the name of "progress". its people flagellating themselves for thinking one of the shadows on the wall is hot.

and i just think thats fucking ridiculous.
