i really feel for louis and claudia so far in season 2 because the ONLY private space they had away from lestat in season 1 was their brains. claudia had her journals, but she really had to be careful with what she was writing after lestat told her that he read her journals.

sure there are ways to "build up mental walls" like armand keeps mentioning, but your mind should be a sacred place. needing to keep mental walls up 24/7 in case someone can dig around in there is horrifying to me as an abuse survivor, it would literally be my worst nightmare. we saw the impacts of how easily it lead to claudia being abused in season 1, but something about the realization of any vampire being able to dig around in another vampire's brain didn't hit me until this season. also not just one person digging around, but the ENTIRE 10+ member coven trying to find a crack in your mind to slip in?? horrifying!! even picturing that for a few days or weeks would be enough to give me life long trauma, let alone how long louis and claudia are going to be doing it for. there's so much autonomy that you need to regain in order to present yourself and make yourself come off as "normal" after surviving abuse. not having any private space (or space where you can sort out what version of yourself you're trying to be) REALLY would start to make anyone fall apart long term, but i can see why it's taken such a toll on louis. even louis' ONLY creative output and hobby (photography, especially focusing on his love for portrait photography) means he always needs to indirectly involve other people

Hihihi! You have a lot of neat AUs!! I’d really like to know about the Candy Sphinx one!!

YES EHEHEHEHE IVE MADE A LOT OF DESIGNS FOR THIS ONE ALLREADY! Basically, this AU just makes every character into a candy sphinx because I love them. The canon reason for it existing is that during the GOLB fight of the finale, both Goliad and Stormo somehow ended up in the time room when GOLB was releasing a burst of energy. Stormo wished that there were more of him and his brother’s kind, so they didn’t have to be alone (much to Goliad’s chagrin) to which this version of the universe was made. Obviously because I’m not normal about Petrigrof I focus a lot on them but every character exists in the universe!

In all honesty this entire AU is just an excuse to draw more weird fucked up cat creatures but shhhh…

A lot of the characters’ families and dynamics are slightly changed, for example, Marceline is Simon and Betty’s biological kit, Finn and Fern are brothers from the same litter rather than being the same person (or sphinx, in this case), and I may have done a wee bit of universe-bending to allow certain characters like Fionna, Winter King, and Farmworld Finn to exist because I WANT TO DRAW CHARACTERS AS CANDY SPHINXES

This AU is very much a Self-indulgent excuse to draw fucked up cats, but it does have some light lore :3 I’m gonna make a chart explaining the lineage of all the sphinxes soon, since it’s not the same as Canon Ooo…

Maybe I never picked up on it well but were Maeve and Homelander in like a real real relationship? Like was Maeve ever actually into him? She's part of his shrine and he wanted to have kids with her but I feel lost on her side of things lol

in the s3 finale, Maeve said to Homelander in no uncertain terms "From the start, I hated you." interestingly though, she follows that up with, "But what's more, I fucking pitied you." and i always wonder how much Maeve really knew about Homelander. whether she knew about the lab, the bad room, Madelyn, Vogelbaum...

it could be that their relationship was always some kind of publicity move. it might have even been baked into Maeve's contract that she was coming on to play a character, and that character is dating The Homelander. it's entirely possible she wouldn't realize what all that really entailed until it was too late. she started off as a naive and optimistic girl from the south, just like Starlight.

aside from that we really don't get a lot of detail on their relationship. Homelander claims she only started to "pull away" from him 6 years prior to the start of the show, but we also have no idea when Maeve joind the Seven. Homelander tells her that she's the one he's known the longest, but that also conflicts with a lot of other information we have. according to canon, it should be Noir he's known the longest.

as for Homelander, he's never been good at making a distinction between fiction and reality. even if she did start off as his "pretend" girlfriend, his entire life has been a performance. of course he would take it to heart and want to make that fantasy real.

we see the same thing happen when he traps Starlight in a fake dating plot. he has a moment of vulnerability and takes her hand to tell her, "I'm really glad you're here," as if she really is his girlfriend.

realistically, it probably went exactly like this with a young Maeve. she disliked him off the bat, but she played her part. she gained her fame and her success all while Homelander chewed away more and more of her. eventually she grew into an accessory to his violence and cruelty, and with that she became deeply cynical and miserable. she resented him, but she was also deeply afraid of him. we know that Homelander has done horrible things to stake his claim over her, and it wouldn't surprise me if she was afraid he would do worse to her family. maybe with the breakup, she just finally reached a point she felt she had nothing left that he could take from her.

Homelander loved Maeve in the only way he knew how to: he possessed her. even after she broke up with him, he still thought of her as his. so really, it depends who you ask. It was real to Homelander, and it was a living nightmare for Maeve.

I have things I want to say, but SOCIETY won't let me (I am very passionate about how Bradford's and Scrooge's relationship counts as abusive, even if they're just business partners, but most people would probably be weirded out by the idea of Scrooge Mcduck (2017) being an abuse victim).

I have a gripe with the concept of "opposite day." If it was truly "opposite day" everything would technically be the same.

Take, for example, the opposite day concept we all used as kids where you have to say to opposite of everything.

Say you want to say the sentence:

"The dog is in the house."

If you said the opposite of every word in that sentence, (that being, every word that has an opposite,) you would get something along the lines of:

"The dog isn't out of the house."

Which is still the same, because the dog is inside, meaning it is not outside.

(If you think "cat" is the opposite of dog, it really isn't. There isn't really an "opposite" word for dog, but regardless, "the cat isn't out of the house," would also serve as true, because there was no cat to begin with.)

With the same concept, lets do another one, this one, more simple,

"The sky is blue."

Using opposite day logic, this would translate to either:

"The sky isn't orange." Which is true! (Unless you live in Gravity Falls during August of 2012, but then again you would still have to speak in "opposite speak," so that would turn out as "the sky isn't blue." Which is also true!)

Or, "The ground/grass/ocean isn't orange." And in most cases, they are not.

It really depends on how you word it though.

(If you think of the "opposite clothes" or "literal opposite day" hypotheticals, this also may not apply, its mainly just with the speaking one.)
