My family is still staying in half of the church that wasn’t affected by the bombing because there is nowhere else to stay other than tents. They are limited to one small meal a day and one shower a week. They are sleeping on the floors, but no one can sleep since there is bombing everywhere around them. Even when there is no bombing, they can still hear the loud buzzing sound of the military planes above them, which would keep anyone who hears it awake. Along with everything, My grandma has diabetes and osteoporosis, so she can’t walk. She has to take her insulin medication along with many others; however, she has run out of many of her medications.” Am on my knees requesting for donation. Target $450
SCAM ALERT!🚨
Stumbled on this post from 90-ghost with this reply:
Tumblr media
I went ahead and found the paragraph this was copied from
(disclaimer: i can't say whether the linked gofundme is legit or not. it is not my place to say so. i tried to look around and i have not seen it shared other than when scammers have used it. if anyone can find someone confirming its legitimacy, please send it to me and i will update this post!)
Tumblr media
This scam has also been spotted with at least two other usernames according to this post and its replies. The usernames were uniquehologramwasteland and swagvoidreview. One asked for 950 and the other also asked for 450
I believe this person may be using the part where someone is in need of medication to get this supposed price because the gofundme is seeking to evacuate family members

This is a scam poster!
Do not reblog their links.
Here is a link to the scammer tracker list:
A guide for spotting fake Palestine charity scams:
And the vetted Gaza fundraiser master post
If you gave this person money through PayPal, you can attempt to dispute the claim through Paypal, and if you're American you can also submit a fraud report to the FTC.
The easiest way to tell if someone is a scammer is to check their username to see if they follow random naming conventions (a string of random nouns- in this case “gladysconnoisseurpost” which is indicative of botting) and then to check their gofundme link, which in this case isn't even on the page and usually is fake, which redirects you to their PayPal with an non-matching name that usually follows a pattern of similar scammer names.
They also hid, blocked, and removed replies from people calling them out.

Falling for scams does hurt people, actually
TW: Human trafficking, SA, torture, discussion of scam farms
I see a whole bunch of people arguing that they would rather risk giving to a scammer than ignore someone's gofundme. I also see people saying things like "I can't believe some sick people are profiteering off genocide" and like, me neither, but I feel like you guys really don't understand who actually runs these kinds of scams and what they are.
Scams of noticeable scale-- like scam asks being sent from hundreds of accounts to every user on Tumblr!-- are typically related to organised crime in poor countries, not Susan from Milwaukee who wants a new coat and has no scruples. People get trafficked by gangs to scam farms in Asia and Africa where they're worked to the bone and tortured trying to get idiots in wealthy countries to part with their money. Genocide profiteering is pretty much the least evil thing these people do.
Here's a UN article on it. Obvious warnings for content related to human trafficking and SA.
When you donate to a scammer, you fund these organisations and give them a reason to exist. It's possible some of the fundraisers are legit. I honestly find it unlikely given I'm not seeing any from any other countries where urgent fundraisers would seem to have great reason to exist but which haven't captured the same level of attention on Tumblr-- the number of Sudanese, Congolese, Ukrainian, Burmese or Uyghur fundraisers in my DMs is a fat 0. In any case, there are safer ways to help.
If you want to help (which is great!) you don't have to take the risk of paying for human trafficking. Donate to legitimate charities which have the resources to safely and effectively ensure the money and help is getting to the right people. Funding human trafficking rings in Myanmar is not a good risk to be taking while trying to help.

If you see an ask with the starter “I know this is a long shot/shoot” then goes on about diabetes and insulin treatment, it’s a scam profiting off of Palestinians who actually need help.
Multiple different accounts have sent me the exact same story with only a few words changed and I’ve seen it boosted on others.
Do not boost or answer it.

Hello sorry for tagging. I am very sick, my asthma is at its maximum level, my nose freezes, I have no medicine or food. I am in bad shape financially, I am a black disabled, who uses multiple medications, I pay for my food and lodging
Unfortunately I do not have all the resources to keep me safe, that is why I need your help, whatever you can contribute to me will be of great help.
Okay kids, are you ready for a lesson in SPOTTING ONLINE SCAMS????
*please don't message this person or harass them-- i do recommend that you report and block them, however.
right now it's incredibly important to give time, attention, and money to online fundraisers. but it's also incredibly important not to let scammers take advantage of that and steal money that could actually save lives right now.
firstly-- if we go to this person's blog, and navigate to "archive--"
Tumblr media Tumblr media
this person's blog has only existed for a few days, only has a handful of generic posts (many reblogged multiple times,) and made their first reblog the same day that they posted their "fundraiser" post. this is a MASSIVE red flag.
Tumblr media
please also note that neither their ask nor post actually mention palestine or gaza at all, but it's still tagged with "free palestine" and "gaza."
though this one should obviously be taken with a grain of salt, it is also worth noting the poor grammar here, because this can be (but isn't always!!!) another red flag. Note also that all the details are really vague and don't quite make sense... user describes "enduring cold" and their "nose freezing" though it's the middle of the summer. This user says that they're "sick," but doesn't really offer any further details about this. This user says that they need money for "resources," but don't elaborate on what exactly they need. They vaguely elude to a need for lodging, caretakers, and medicine, but don't actually give us any details-- despite this they have a "$1200" goal. What is this specific goal of $1200 for? Is that the cost of their medication? Overdue medical bills? Cost for rent this month?... They also apologize in their ask for "tagging" me... but they didn't tag me. They sent me an ask.
Another red flag is that their link labeled "Fundraiser link" leads directly to a Paypal donation page rather than a gofundme or anything else. If someone chooses to collect aid through paypal, venmo, etc. instead of through a gofundme, that's not a huge issue in and of itself... but it is fishy that it's mislabeled like this.
Tumblr media
And if we GOOGLE this user's tumblr name or paypal name, we can find results like this:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This also led me to find them on @/kyra45's blog on their list of current scam accounts.
Despite all this, they have close to 100 reblogs from well-meaning people trying to signal boost and ask for donations on their behalf.
Tumblr media
With the current situation in Palestine and the amount of actual, legitimate fundraisers and donations being circulated right now, for Palestine, Sudan, the Congo, or otherwise, it is more important than ever to be aware of people who are trying to take advantage of the situation for their own personal gain. Whenever possible, please take the time to do some due diligence when you receive messages like this and check to see if a fundraiser is legitimate! It always sucks for someone to be the victim of a scam and lose money to someone playing pretend on the internet... but it sucks even more when that money could have gone to people in actual, acute, dire need.
Here's some more information about spotting scams on tumblr! Shoutout to tumblr user kyra45 for compiling this, and for all the other hard work they do-- thanks.
Here's an actual, vetted, and legitimate campaign that could use your support. After receiving this ask, I went and donated. If you have the means to do so, it would be amazing if you did so, too.

Please watch out for fake Palestine gofundmes in your inbox. I got one and I double checked if it was legit by reverse image searching a photo from the blog's pinned post and found a real gofundme under a different name with all the same text otherwise. The blog's oldest post is 7 hours and their link took you to paypal instead of the gofundme website.
Remember, if someone is asking for money in asks, check how old the blog is and try to look up the text or images used. Stay wary of links too.

‼Another scammer‼
@crookedtimetraveldreamer is scamming people by pretending to be a Palestinian woman in Gaza. They are using stolen images to convince people to give them money!
This is the DM they are spreading around! Please be careful if you've seen their message and do NOT donate to them!

If you get an ask from Tumblr user @06679799 saying they need financial support to help their family escape Gaza,
DO NOT CLICK THE LINK
It's a scam.
The blog claims to be Yousef Hussein and says they need financial help to get their family out of Gaza, however, the real Yousef is a humanitarian who lives in Illinois and is trying to help people in Gaza.
The link they provide in their blog's description does not go to the GoFundMe page, it's not even a correctly formatted link. The link they provide is gofund.me -- this is fake. This is a scam link.
They're sending this ask to anyone and everyone.
DO NOT CLICK THE LINK.
If you want to help the family and help evacuate young Kareem & Carmen from Gaza, the real page is https://www.gofundme.com/f/YousefHussein?qid=4940ab33f07c65ad6f42e6748aabb646
Or you can look up the fundraiser through GoFundMe.

Hello, I'm Mohmmed Akram, This is my brother Ahmed
We live in Gaza, which has been suffering from war for more than 10 months.
I had a lot of ambitions and dreams that I was working to achieve, but all that faded from the start of this brutal war.
10 months of bombing, destruction, suffering, displacement and death.
Our house was destroyed at the beginning of the war on Gaza and I had to flee inside Gaza at the beginning since the third day of the war before I was taken out of it (to the south),
So that all our fortunes, memories and lives will be smarted out before October 7th. The costs now are heartbreak and unspeakable and unbearable conditions, in a tent that cannot be described .
It was one of the worst days in which this cruelty and famine were thrown upon us. On that nightmarish day, a school housing a large number of displaced children and women was targeted in this place. My brother Ahmed was injured in the head as he was trying to make a living during these famines.
My brother Ahmed is injured
Unfortunately, due to the presence of many among them, shocks, cases of fainting, needs, medical care needs, problems and difficult circumstances, but your help, my friends, standing next to Ahmed Kakh, is for you. He and his family need help to enable them to overcome this disaster and suffering.
Thank you for your interest and reading, and I hope you can help, if only a little ❤

I've been getting a lot of those scam asks from people pretending to be Palestinian asking for money. And every time, I do a little poking hoping that maybe, for once, it's a genuine person and not some scum of the earth asshole.
It never is. It's always the scum of the earth asshole who thinks they can profit off genocide. Every single dollar they fool someone into donating is another dollar that same person won't donate to Gaza. We all have limits on how much we can spend, so it's very harmful for a cause that needs so much money to keep having said potential revenue drained away by these absolute fucks.
Not to mention the sheer inhumanity it takes to see a genocide ongoing and think, "Hey, I could profit off that!", and then go forward with it
Anyway, all this to say, make sure you look into every ask you get requesting your donations. Some usual signs they're fakes are these;
There's no posts on the account, or, if there are any, they're ALL reblogs of other people's content. I see a lot of these blogs reblog a ton of pro-Palestinian content, which is disgusting. But if you scroll all the way down, there's typically nothing before that, because these aren't real tumblr users.
Reverse-search the images they provide of themselves/their situation. Usually, these are taken right off the Gofundme of a real Palestinian person.
Type their blog name into the search bar on tumblr. If someone else has made a post exposing this person as a scam, this will bring them up.
Hope this helps!

There has been a lot of fake Palestine fundraisers in my asks box lately, and it's starting to piss me off. A lot of people are falling for it, myself included. Do not donate money to these scammers, they are profting off people's genuine sincerity and concern. They shift through the blogs of people that liked and reblogged real Palestinian posts for their next victims.
One of the telltale signs that they are scammers is if they only VERY recently made their account, for instance the day they sent you the ask. Scroll through their account, they reblog real Palestinian fundraisers and posts to appear real and genuine.
Another sign is if their posts hasn't been reblogged by any major Palestinian blogs, such as 90-ghost or heritage-posts. While there are some real, genuine Palestinian fundraisers that hasn't YET been reblogged by major blogs, this is just another possible sign they aren't what they seem.
Usually, after their pinned comment of their fundraiser, they stop posting or reblogging anything AFTER that. Usually they would put updates on their fundraisers or news about Palestine or lives. But they stop posting after the pinned fundraiser post.
Please stay safe my friends!!

I don't like the way you guys talk about Palestinians asking for donations. I don't like it.
I had to see someone make MULTIPLE posts bitching and moaning about how people need to stop sending them asks asking for them to reblog their donation posts, that they'd just be blocking them from now on, and that they didn't care if they were vetted because they still found the act of sending asks to get reblogs on their donation links suspicious, even if they were in a dire situation. They even went as far as to say that they got an ask, deleted it, and then they got another ask from the same person, and accused the person of sending another ask to purposefully "get under their skin"
I don't know man, have you considered that being a victim of ongoing genocide will make you ask for help in whatever way you can? And sometimes that involves sending random blogs asks to see if they can donate or at the very least share your donation links? A Palestinian reaches out to you multiple times because they need help and your response is to whine about getting donation links in your inbox? I wish I had your problems
Also the thing about "getting the exact same ask from the exact same blog multiple times"... uh, duh? First of all, they're probably reaching out to dozens of blogs daily, do you think they're gonna type up a new paragraph for each blog they reach out to? Second of all, maybe they reached out to you multiple times because a. They really really really need the help and b. What, do you think they're gonna see your URL/blog and be like "oh! I already reached out to this blog, I'm not gonna send them another ask"? Or do you think they'll be like "this person has been reblogging other people's donation posts, maybe they'll reblog mine too"?
Like I understand being suspicious about getting sent donation links to your inbox, but literally all you have to do is check if the blog's been vetted by other bloggers? It's as easy as searching for their URL on tumblr sometimes, it literally takes less than a minute or two. And that's what bothers you? That's what you're complaining about? Find a real problem!!!

This is the fundraiser they took the text from:
If you guys can, please donate to them instead of this person. They're almost at their goal of $80,000 with $70,639 currently raised.

Hello, I am Nader, I am from Gaza-Palestine and I am a 26-year-old dedicated to working alongside my father in our family-owned enterprise specializing in importing stationery, school supplies, and printing services. On October 7, 2023, the war began in Gaza, and on the morning of October 20, 2023, the area where our company was targeted with several missiles, led to the destruction of a large part of the company. Then, On January 8, 2024, the area was targeted for the second time, leading to the burning of the entire company, stores, and affiliated printing press for the company's store.Recently our home was bombed on the 20th of March 2024 and now we are without shelter and homeless and there’s no place to go back to or to be.Help us to leave Gaza to the safe zone before it’s too late, every 1 dollar can save a person’s life, and every donation will directly contribute to my needs—shelter, food, and medical assistance please share so we can start a new happy life.Thank you in advance for your kindness, and for bringing a glimmer of light to my family in such a dark time.
no, but i'd love to brand your neck with a red hot fucking bike chain some time <3
so, this? you see this everybody? don't fall for scams like this.
I'm so fucking upset someone even tried this.
the wording of the message is so obviously someone trying to guilt trip, not someone looking for help. they even tried using specific dates so that if you were to look them up, you'd see what happened those days and believe them, while no one in this situation would remember the exact dates their homes and businesses were bombed.
their account links to a PAYPAL for fucks sake. not go fund me, not a campaign, PayPal.
a google search of the name on their paypal reveals exactly what kind of wretched fucking person they are, they're name appears on lists of popular scammers.
don't let people use their situation in exploitation. don't fall for these scams.
please refer to this post for resources on how to identify these scams, a list of common names and information stolen by scammers, and how to report them.
I hope the next time you go to the dentist, they use a fucking weed whacker.
don't come into my ask box trying this bullshit again.
