"genesis" miniseries spec/hopes

i think this is gonna be auroras origin story (first ep her birth, second exploration of herself + omnic crisis; third her sacrifice). and im hoping it does two things:

demonstrate that aurora had her own autonomy in her choices and that she was as fallible as any human (ideally id like her to be a bit of a girlfailure but i think its unlikely)

show the crisis didnt end just bc of baby ows intervention but bc auroras sacrifice caused the awakening, and now free of anubis' control (and sentient) omnics decided war is bad actually

imo aurora needs to be explained to the casual viewer who doesnt engage with the wider lore, shes too important as a catalyst for post-crisis events not to be. but i also want her to get some real character development because right now (in game and in transmedia) shes regarded by others as either a weird invention (sojourns novel) or as a deity (stone by stone, rama and echos interactions). just humanize her a bit. i think theres some lovely melancholy in the idea that who she was has been lost to time (liaos dead, after all) and that all anyone else has are little bits of knowledge open to interpretation.

The amount of digging, stalking and over analyzing that required for yall to now say “it was obvious” and “we were right all along” is one of the reasons they never went public with their relationship before actual marriage, just like Joey Richter and Lauren Lopez getting engaged and Keith and Becky habersberger out of nowhere telling they had a baby.

I’ve been a fan of smosh for like 12 years and the shipping (yes, I know they said they don’t care, but even if they said to stop yall wouldn’t anyway) and nitpicking every single interaction between cast members (I’m not even gonna get into the fanfics and inappropriate comments) were why I kept my interaction with the fandom to a minimum.

Im happy they’re married, really. I’ve been happy for other influencers before. The issue was never denial. I did wish it was a prank because I knew this exact response was going to happen.

This feels like fans were trying to out them when they weren’t ready. If they truly felt safe making the relationship public, they wouldn’t have gone to lengths they did to hide it. Poor Courtney probably had an engagement ring that she couldn’t wear because of fan reaction. I mean, I remember seeing proof of them together through reflections on a glass! It isn’t normal.

A similar situation has happened in a fandom before. Remember when fans were speculating about a Malec wedding in the shadowhunter finale? Finding every single piece of evidence on social media, bts footage, etc? And in the ending the characters got married? But you know why that wasn’t weird? They were fictional characters, made to entertain us, with story arcs. No actual person was at stake.

And you know, I love smosh and obviously this rant isnt directed towards the fans who are just surprised and happy for them (which I am too, congrats to them), but it still bother me.

Publicly, they were coworkers in a comedy channel who made jokes, played characters, played games, etc. Smosh has never been about romantic relationships between cast members and it saddens me that the fans made most of it about shipping when they have so much more to offer.

The point is, we are not entitled to information about their lives and speculate about it. Too bad this can’t be a learning experience because congrats, yall were “right all along”.

telling you that the first ep of season 7 is gonna be our little slice of everyone's lives, henren adjusting to life with their babygirl, maddie and chimney wedding planning, buck and eddie off performing comphet through gritted teeth, bobby and athena on their cruise. then they'll come into work for their shift and chim will walk into the locker room with a smug little smile and someone will say "hey, chim, how-" and he'll say "ah ah that's interim captain han to you" and they'll all groan before buck asks if bobby's okay and chim will tell them that apparently he and athena skipped town for their belated honeymoon cruise and they'll all say how much they deserve it before they're called out for some silly little slightly watery emergency before they get back to the station and dispatch (maddie) calls to tell them that a cruise ship's gone down and bobby and athena are coordinating the rescue from the ship itself cue credits

I hear what you're saying, and I feel for all our worries as we anticipate S7's swift arrival upon us! I'm not saying I definitely expect Ruthari to perish. I'm just acknowledging sad connections that I see, so they don't sneak up on me and surprise me terribly if they turn out to be true, because for me that would be miles worse than at least seeing it coming.

There are a lot of characters in the show, so any one of them only has a low chance of dying, statistically speaking. Chances are good that they'll survive! I'm sorry that I worried you with my, uh, worries.

As to Ibis specifically, his death feels like it is still part of the cycle to me. He died in battle with a human, as they fought over a unique weapon. He was trying to stop the cycle, but he was trying to do that by killing Claudia. He said so, specifically.

In contrast to that, Viren's death sacrificed only himself, and no one else. That was a necessary step for him, choosing to use his own heart instead of Soren's. It's wild to realize that Viren died further from the cycle than Ibis did, but that's what I see here.

Regardless of who the unlucky character in S7 is who steps forward and makes a sacrifice, it sounds like it'll be one made in the same spirit as Viren's choice: to personally take the L in order to save lives, rather than killing to save lives.

I love Ibis, he's a great character! But the cycle ate him, too, and made him try to eat Claudia.

I think in season 3 we need to have Ed visiting Izzy’s grave regularly. Like in the first episode we look at Ed and Stede’s life as innkeepers and it’s become a daily thing that Ed will go to Izzy’s grave and sit with him. Sometimes he just sits there in silence, sometimes he cries, sometimes he talks to him about his day, sometimes he rehashes old memories of the two of them from the good ol’ days. Most of the time he does it alone but some days Stede goes with him to support him when it’s too painful. No matter what he goes every day.

This also is the perfect opportunity to bring Con back to film some flashbacks from before season 1
