For the loz ask game, how about the spirit tracks overworld theme?
Ooh spirit tracks is one of the zelda games i desperately want to play. However its too expensive on the ds and all the emulators hardly function so sadly i just cant play it at the moment
But you want to know what got me so so gripped on playing this game? The music. I stumbled across the malladus battle music and fell in love with the track (hehe spirit tracks) so now i want to play it just for the music (and of course the story) I haven't listened to the ost like i have all the other games because this is the game i want to go into with as little spoilers as i can, and the ost comments and track titles often have spoilers so im putting off listening to it even thougb i have all the other games even though ive barely played any of them
But the main theme is so good. It carries the wind waker feel, but somehow it feels sturdier because they are on land and not the sea. It really sets the mood so well, as well as just being a fun track. Its so nice to listen to, and i cant wait for when i someday am able to play the game and boot up that title screen for the first time properly
(I realise i was talking about the main theme but they are basically the same)

I love to think about the songs Link hums while cooking in Tears of the Kingdom, because if you think about it in connection to Linked Universe, there are two ways to do it, and either way is great:
Wild knows all the songs subconsciously, from the reincarnation or whatnot, and freak out the others by just absentmindedly humming a song from their past (like Legend for example, imagine his shock if Wild suddenly started humming Marin’s song??? the angst potential, or Time with Saria’s song, the possibilities are endless)
OR!!!! Wild learned all of these songs while traveling with the Chain before TotK, and he’s humming them to himself while cooking because he misses his family and it makes him feel happy and reminds him of them and aarghhh the feels🥹
(For those who don’t know, these are the songs he hums in TotK:
- Ballad of the Goddess - Skyward Sword
- Epona’s Song - Ocarina of Time
- Kass’ theme - Breath of the Wild
- Ballad of the Wind Fish - Link’s Awakening
- Zelda’s Lullaby - A Link to the Past
- The Legend of Zelda Main Theme/Overworld
- Saria’s Song/Lost Woods - Ocarina of Time
- Hyrule Field Theme - Ocarina of Time
- Champion’s Ballad - Breath of the Wild
- Link’s standard humming while cooking from Breath of the Wild)

Round 1, Side B: Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky (2009) vs Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword (2011)
Mystery Dungeon | Skyward Sword
Campaigns under the cut!
Campaign for Mystery Dungeon:
I played this game when I was like 7 years old and I still think it has the best soundtrack I’ve ever heard. Hearing just a few seconds off of the main theme, or the music that would play while you take the quiz to see which Pokémon you would be, or On the Beach at Dusk makes me emotional and rekindles that sense of anticipation for a great story of adventure that was first sparked all those years ago. You’d be hard pressed to find a single mediocre track in this soundtrack. Also shoutout to Waterfall Cave even if you have never played this game PLEASE listen to Waterfall Cave
Campaign for Skyward Sword:
Zelda games have some of the best soundtracks ever and you can fight me on that BUT. Skyward Sword is both very dear to my heart AND the best one (of the games I've played, at least). So many of the overworld songs are great (Faron Woods, Lanayru Sand Sea, Isle of Songs), and the dungeon ones (Lanayru Mining Facility, the Sand Ship), and the quest exclusive ones (all the harp songs, whatever plays during the Wing Ceremony), and the cutscene ones (Follow Fi, Fi's Farewell, Romance in the Air, Zelda's Lullaby (or whatever it's called in this game)). Like literally it could not be better. Banger after banger after banger.
It's the first Zelda game I played and the music swept me away. :)

Legend of Zelda Theme Park - Entrance & Welcome Plaza (UPDATED)
Guests arriving at the theme park pass underneath a broad arch decorated with classic LoZ characters and monsters in action poses and find themselves…nowhere special, just yet. The Welcome Plaza is a fairly simple place with only light theming, the better to let newcomers orient themselves before diving into the adventure. The features here are likewise basic and chosen to help people prep for the day ahead. On both sides of the entry gate, ambient speakers play a continuous loop of overworld and title themes from the games.
(The cross-hatched area represents behind-the-scenes office space and other employee facilities, not accessible to the public.)
Attractions
There aren’t really attractions in this area per se…the closest thing would be a number of life-sized character statues scattered around the area for people to take photos of and/or with. Each of the little Triforce symbols on the map marks the location of one of these statues, in an alcove with a scenic backdrop for the aesthetic, but those aren’t necessarily the only ones. Park employees with professional-grade cameras are stationed nearby and may offer to take high-quality photos, which will be available for purchase later in the day at the Pictobox Shop in Castle Town.
Services & Amenities
Map & Compass: An information counter where guests can pick up a park map, scan QR codes in order to download specialty apps and learn about them, check in for specific “sidequest” activities and events, and have general questions answered.
Item Check: Like Link, theme park tourists may wish to carry a large collection of items in order to be prepared for any and all circumstances that may occur during their adventure. Unlike Link, they don’t have a magic satchel that carries it all weightlessly. At Item Check (named after the similar service in Skyward Sword), you can rent a storage locker for the day to hang onto your excess gear. And speaking of rentals…
Ravio’s Rentals: Compact, lightweight strollers and wheelchairs can be rented here for a reasonable fee plus deposit. (The employee uniforms evoke Ravio’s distinctive purple robe and striped scarf.)
First Aid Station: Park nurses are on staff during operating hours to assist with minor injuries and ailments in a soothing environment with interior decor reminiscent of a Great Fairy Fountain.
Shops
5. A Hero’s Essentials: This basic shop sells bottled water, snacks, portable phone chargers, sunglasses, ponchos, souvenir tee-shirts and baseball caps, and other conventional merchandise that any tourist can find a use for.
6. Nintendo Store: The focus, obviously, is LoZ itself, but other Nintendo titles and merch can also be found here.
Eateries
There are no permanent eateries in this area, but portable carts offering soda and packaged snacks can be found throughout the open space.

Todays rip: 06/05/2024
Wake Up! It's Friday!
Season 8 Featured on: The Joke-Explainer 7000™'s Highest Quality Rips: Sunrise
Ripped by AdamCrossing
youtube
Tentative rip name: Last Freight-train Night
Huge apologies in advance for not posting this on a Friday or even a Saturday. The joke has been completely missed. I hope you can find it in your hearts to forgive me 😔.
Ah man, melody swap rips. They're always fun, right? Even in the channel's earliest days, we had stuff like SNES Mini Circulation, Earth, Wind & Bombs and Akumajō Lololo expertly showing off their inherent, obvious appeal - leveraging the instrumentation of one track to bring out a whole new vibe to another piece of music through rearrangement. But especially early on, and even nowadays, you'll notice that some games get favored above others for melody swaps. Super Mario 64, the Pokémon series, NES and Game Boy games, Plok! - granted, the reasons for a lot of these are very easily explained, but with games like Plok! in particular the recent emphasis has come from a select few rippers' absolute enthusiasm for the game and the unique soundscape it provides. Tons of Plok! rips are absolutely mindblowing as a result of this passion, and I intend to cover some of these in the future no doubt - but Wake Up! It's Friday!gave me many of those same thoughts upon first listen whilst being from a game I never would've thought would be one befit for melody swapping.
Again, to clarify: It's perfectly understandable why those aforementioned select games get so many melody swap rips made of them. Pokémon in particular has at once such a nostalgic, distinct yet versatile set of sounds that has allowed for a ton of creativity in how rips are done, with everything from the piano-driven peacefulness of Blue Mareep to the synth-heavy insanity of Plasmaseeker. The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks, meanwhile, is a game I only truly associate with two instruments - the pan flute and the violin - and that paired with its relative obscurity compared to other often-ripped games made me understand why all the chips wouldn't be placed on it in particular. Clearly, I was underestimating both the game and AdamCrossing's sheer range as a ripper here - the guy has genuinely impressed me with his arrangements of the New Super Mario Bros. series' music in particular, and yet I mistakenly assumed that to be the only trump card in his deck. Then again, as both those games and Spirit Tracks work with a smaller, more quirky set of playful instruments, I suppose Wake Up! It's Friday! only makes sense for him to have tackled; nevertheless, the rip wound up positively blowing me away in its arrangement, whilst still finding a way to stay absolutely faithful to the sound of the game its taking from. It's pan flutes and strings, yes, but they're leveraged to a far greater degree than I could've ever imagined.
If you presented me with a choice of song to use in a melody swap for Spirit Tracks' Overworld Adventure theme, I wouldn't have been able to give you an answer - yet had I given you one, it would've probably been incredibly far off the mark from what Wake Up! It's Friday! lands at. It's a full arrangement of Katy Perry's Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F), the absolute pop sensation released just two years after Spirit Tracks itself - yes, in other words, this is a PAN FLUTE arrangement of hit song Don't Mine At Night. Like, maybe I'm just easily impressed, maybe I'm just far too attached to Spirit Tracks' sound from playing on its stage in Smash Bros. all too much, but I have to commend Wake Up! It's Friday! just off of its concept alone. But, come on now, you've heard Thwâmpröck Desert - you KNOW that Season 8 has been delivering in far more than just concept alone.
See, the rip isn't just pleasant for its novelty, it feels as if it fully realizes itself in so many small little ways. There's of course the persisting banjo-like backing from the original keeping a playful, plucky adventuring tone, but it's in listening in close that you'll hear something truly special. You guessed it: That chuff-chuff-chuffing sound persisting through the entire track is the sound the player's train makes in Spirit Tracks when moving at the highest speed, whereupon it starts to sync up with the Overworld Adventure theme - in other words, the sound effects are a separate element from the actual music piece, yet Wake Up! It's Friday! goes the extra mile in including it just to make it all feel more...right. The cherry on top of even that is, of course, the sounds of crossing signals fading in and out of the song at various points throughout its runtime. This isn't referencing anything in particular from Last Friday Night, it's a completely original touch by AdamCrossing, but it adds SO much to the listening experience: Pair it with the other two things mentioned in this paragraph, and it starts to feel as if this track is truly taking place within Spirit Tracks itself, a sense of immersion far above what was necessary is conveyed through just these small touches alone. It stimulates the brain in ways I never thought I needed - and in terms of sheer listenability, it all just helps give the arrangement a real sense of tempo, befitting of the dance-able pop song it's an arrangement of.
Season 8 is a lot of things, and I'm still trying to ascertain what to truly make it of four months into its run. But if there's one constant I'm sure of, its that the channel's quality has basically never been higher - rips like Wake Up! It's Friday! are dropping left and right without being part of larger events, as if to just casually remind you of how good of a place the channel is in right now. And having those explosions of quality be attached to games which really haven't seen all too much action on SiIva compared to the big boys, to the channel's "hidden gem" games as it were? Be it back with Plok! in Season 6, or all the countless other examples over the years since, that always just fills me with such joy. Every game is someone's favorite, and every someone has the potential to be a SiIvaGunner contributor - it only takes one person's love for a game to get rips as carefully made as the works of AdamCrossing's, among which Wake Up! It's Friday! is easily one of the best.

*bursts through the door*
GUYS I JUST HAD A BREAKTHROUGH
Y’know the Song of the Hero, right? The quest in Skyward Sword to unlock the last spirit realm?
What if I told you this song is actually a work of genius?
Hear me out: when you’re playing the song of the hero it sounds like nothing we’ve heard in the Zelda franchise before, right? Well at the very end of that song, we hear a familiar crescendo; one that we hear in the middle of the overworld theme in The Legend of Zelda (1986), the exact theme that everyone associates Link with
My point? Basically, the Song of the Hero serves as a kind of prologue to that overworld theme, because Skyward Sword is the prologue of the franchise, because Skyward’s Sword Link is the very first Link

Sometimes a video game soundtrack will hit you with something genius out of nowhere. Like, oh yeah, the Legend of Zelda Spirit Tracks' overworld theme is composed to sync up to the chugging of the train's engine - with a unique stripped back theme for when you're stopped or reversing.
Like, shit, fuck, video games are interactive media. Dynamic music. Holy shit.

It is done!
I've finally completed many month (maybe even over a year) mission of listening to all the zelda OSTs in release order (now it did take ages cuz i would spend forever between each ost and the longer ones would take so long to get through)
I compiled all my favorite tracks into one massive playlist, as well as covers that i like!
Now i am going to go over each ost and say my thoughts on them! Ill also be mentioning one or two tracks from each game that were really notable for me
(I didn't listen to Twilight princess or Spirit tracks because i dont want spoilers for when i play them)
The legend of Zelda:
The ost for this game is 9 mins long, drastic difference to totk with many MANY hours of music
Obviously a classic, the overworld theme. I really like the "game over" theme, its nice but the ringing of the NES boops hurts my ears so much
Adventure of Link:
I really like the final dungeon theme and the battle theme, so good to just jam to
A Link to the past:
Not much to say here, it set a bunch of classics, dark world theme is super good though and the great fairy fountain theme will always be welcome whenever i hear it, either as the great fairy or as the title screen (tbh i prefer it more as the title screen theme) and the title screen theme! When that bursts out i wanna scream, It fills me with so much nostalgia for this series as a whole
Link's awakening:
Now this one is difficult, because this game is my favorite game out of the games i haven't played just plot wise, but for some reason listening to the music was just super tiring for no reason. Now i was listening to the gameboy version but i tried the swith version and it was also tiring and tedious to listen to?? Im going to go through the switch version ost at some point in time.
You can never go wrong with tal tal hights though, and the ballad of the windfish is just 😭
Ocarina of time:
Im afraid to say anything on it because of the fans of it XD i did play a tiny bit of the game but got to Zora's domain as a child and stopped
Obviously it has a great soundtrack, it has a ton more classics like gerudo valley and such. I like Sheik's theme. The fire temple i am aware is controversial and i think that's the reason it makes me so unnerved when i listen to either version of it
My absolute favorite though is Song of storms (or windmill hut). The first time i heard it, it just stuck with me and i am taken in by it, it luls me, its like magic, im enraptured by it. I don't know what it is about this 20 second theme but i can listen to this on repeat for hours, its one of the first things i learned on piano, when i played the game i just stood in the windmil hut for ages. Such a good track...
Majora's mask:
SUCH an earie ost! I have been wanting to play this game forever. The vibes the ost is just perfect for this game. Clock town is obviously good and its cool how it gets more and more frantic as time goes on, you really feel like time is running out. Overall i think the whole soundtrack does amazingly at embodying this idea.
Oracle of Ages and Seasons:
The two tracks are very similar rhat i can't eeally do these two games separately. For some reason i have a bias towards seasons despite not playing either or really knowing the story??
I love that seasons has song of storms (for some reason), skull pirate's escape is good (oos), ambi's place (ooa) noice, Nayru's song is so nice, and i adore the "Zelda awakens" theme that's in both of them
I love how the tracks for these went back to the boopy style, it makes the themes just has a certain feel that i cannot put words to that feels so right. I have the feeling that when i play these games im going to have a great time with them
Wind waker:
Tbh, not for me, the style of the music is just not the kind of thing i like. Doesnt mean it doesnt have really good tracks though!! Cannot go wrong with dragon roost and i do like a track that i cannot remember the name of (but tbh that is just mostly because i really like the beat) and the Great Sea sailing theme does sound so freeing, you can feel the wind in your hair with that track. Its just that the rest of the music style is just not something i dig so much, its just a personal opinion.
Four swords:
I forgot about this game, and could not recall the ost at all. Had to open sime tracks again to listen to and tbh all i can say is... meh? The ost isn't too great... gotta give it credit for it's version of the overworld theme thoug, possibly one of the better different renditions?
Minish cap:
A cute little game, dont remember much of the soundtrack but i have quite a few saved from it so it must count for something, and i really like the "story" theme whenever i hear it and Mt. Crenel is okay
Phantom hourglass:
Again, it has a similar style to wind waker and i didn't really like it. Linebeck's theme though, what a wonderful character! ("Return of the Ocean King" is also decent)
Spirit tracks:
I did not listen to this soundtrack but the ost is just *chefs kiss* from the ones ive heard. The tracks "the sacred duet" and "battle with king Malladus" are the tracks that made me desperately want to play this game and i am still longing to play it because of these two tracks. I love how throughout the Malladus battle theme there is the constant chugging of the train on the track. I have no doupt that the rest of the ost will be this amazing. (The title theme is perfect, you really feel like you are on a racing train) ive since listened to "in the fields" and ooooooh i love ittttt i so cannot wait to play this game!
Skyward sword:
Man you KNOW i can ramble about this forever. My favorite Zelda game! I cannot put into words how much this game's ost makes me feel all of the emotions in the world, i can only list a few tracks that make me feel so much oooough
Ballad of the goddess (obviously), Romance in the air makes me all fluttery and happy, skyloft theme always feels like home, any version of fi's theme puts me in tears, Groose's theme he is such a silly guy, the loftwing flying theme is so nostalgic, Ghirahim's theme is so menacing, all the Lanayru tracks have such a certain zen feel, silent realm theme's have such a frantic echoey empty perfect feel to them which fit so well, and the guardians awaken theme will make me have a heart attack, and the song of the hero has so many feelings ive talked about before, so much that this track alone made me make a painting for the scene.
This game just stepped into another feel of zelda music with the orchestra, and it captures the grandios of this big, timeline setting adventure so amazingly. I cannot get enough of this game. Arguably one of the best Zelda OSTs in my opinion.
A Link between worlds:
Such a good ost in this game. Dunno what i can say apart for it is one of the better ost's in the series for some tracks alone. Ravio's theme, Hilda's theme, Yuga's theme, Lorule overworld, all the milkbar tracks (the fact that there is also ballad of the godess in there makes me so happy as well), so much of the game's ost is so good!
Triforce heroes:
Such a surprisingly great ost for a game that sounds so much like a fever dream. The main theme?!?!? The woodlands?!?!?!?!? I cannot stop listening to these two such a bop, go listen to them!
Breath of the wild:
Botw has no music???? What the heck???
The tracks are so good! Even all the ambient piano flourishes! It fits the atmosphere so well, but you've probably heared people saying all this before so onto some of my favorite tracks
All the champion's themes fit each one so well, main theme cannot not be good, i lobe how Tarrey Town's theme builds up with each character's home town. The divine beast themes are really cool sounding. Parasailing minigame theme is so fun! Guardian theme will also give me a heart attack, the memory get jingle, i miss Kass and his music so much, Korok forest is so :D, HYRULE CASTLE IS SO GOOD OH MY i love the marching feel. Dark. Beast. Ganon. THIS THEME IS CRAZY BRO that piano!??!!?? All the everything going together?!??!!? This fight may be a victory lap and super easy but it sure as hell has some fire music!!!
Tears of the kingdom:
I finally finished this ost today. It reuses a lot from botw, and tbh it is a little dissapointing how none of the village themes changed even if it does feel safe and familiar, and the surface is largely the exact same even though it is where we spend so much of our time.
There are obviously amazing tracks original to this game though. The main theme was so amazing to hear in full after so long of waiting! So was the prologue theme ("poor Hyrule, for Link has found the body" remember that???) All the dungeon themes have me in awe alongside the sage themes. Each one just fills me with so much ough. The dungeons and their themes were definatly a massive step up from the previous game. I ranked all the sage themes before in another post and go deeper into each one. Link humming while cooking is so cute! The big "BWAAA" when diving into the depths feels so cool and creepy. One of my favorite details is that in the forgotten temple, next to the goddess statue you can hear a broken up version of Fi's theme which im so happy for the sksw ref! It also supports my favorite hc that the forgotten temple is the sealed grounds from sksw! (As well as the reward you get fron that quest but we aren't talking abiut that)
!!!!End spoilers next!!!!!
In the lead up to the final dive into ganondorf's army, the track reminds me of Skyrim and it really does not fit in Zelda. I feel like they shouldn't have used that track. Ganondorf's fight theme is so cool, how at first it is quiet to just hear you two dueling in an echoey room and them builds up. AND HOW CAN YOU FORGET THE FINAL FALL?!?!?!? Such a PERFECT END its amazing how is blends so smoothly to create the perfect scene, all your emotions building up to the end!!! Such a perfect ending to the game. All the music in the end sequence in the Hyrule castle chasm really does do an amazing job of dialing up and down the tension and emotions at the right moments and building up everything until the very end when the credits start rolling.
Overall the ost is great considering all the new tracks!
So that is all the games (other than tp and st)!
Now on to all of the non-cannon games! 🥲

Bi-Daily Doodle 3: The Legend of Zelda
Fun fact: this is one of those ideas I've had in my mind for a really long time.
So music recommendations for today:
youtube
A combination of the main zelda overworld and the dark world theme, this one is surprisingly epic for such a small throwaway game.
youtube
When I was collecting music for the Zelda series I was downright forbidden by friends from looking into the CD-i series.
Cowards!
I did pick this one up tho, a good remix can make a meh song incredible.
youtube
...No, I'm 100% serious. This is a surprising good vibe.
And honestly, I find it hilarious that Tingle got a better soundtrack than Phantom Hourglass.

Aca Top 10: Video Games — VoicePlay music video
youtube
Legend has it that video games helped keep the boys of 4:2:Five out of trouble during their early touring days. And photographic evidence indicates that it continued well into the VoicePlay era. But gaming isn't just about passing time and bonding with friends when you're a traveling musician. It can also be a source of inspiration for a wildly entertaining musical medley.
Details:
title: Aca Top 10 — Video Games
original songs: [0:07] HALO theme (2002); [0:26] Angry Birds theme (2009); [0:44] Pokémon Red & Blue opening theme (1996); [0:56] Minecraft theme (2009); [1:08] Final Fantasy main theme (1987); [1:22] "Dragonborn" from The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (2011); [1:40] "Type A" theme from Tetris (1988); [1:56] "Mortal Kombat (Techno-Syndrome)" from Mortal Kombat (1992); [2:14] Legend of Zelda overworld theme (1987); [2:50] Pong sound effects (1972); [2:57] Super Mario Bros. overworld theme (1985)
written by: HALO theme by Martin O'Donnell & Michael Salvatori; Angry Birds theme by Ari Pulkkinen; Pokémon Red & Blue theme by Junichi Masuda; Minecraft theme by Daniel "C418" Rosenfeld; Final Fantasy main theme by Nobuo Uematsu; "Dragonborn" Skyrim theme by Jeremy Soule; Tetris "Type A" theme based on Russian folk song "Korobeiniki", arranged by Hirokazu Tanaka; "Mortal Kombat (Techno-Syndrome)" by Maurice "Praga Khan" Engelen & Olivier Adams; Legend of Zelda overworld theme by Koji Kondo; Pong sound effects created by Allan Alcorn; Super Mario Bros. overworld theme by Koji Kondo
arranged by: Geoff Castellucci & Layne Stein
release date: 24 February 2015
My favorite bits:
the 8-bit logo during the intro, and Layne making sound effects for Earl's requisite Mountain Dew
all of them bopping around to some degree during the Angry Birds section
Twitch streamer Layne and his adorable laugh
impressively whistling in three-part harmony for Tetris
Earl button mashing like a filthy casual, then covering his eyes during the gory fatality part
Layne using ingressive phonation to replicate the digitized voice effect at the end of Mortal Kombat
techo remix Zelda!
Geoff working so hard to not laugh after doing his part of the Pong bit
Tony just watching and having snacks during the Mario section because the 8-bit music didn't provide a part for him to sing
Trivia:
○ Several of these pieces have appeared in later VoicePlay videos:
They did a full version of the HALO theme with founding 4:2:Five member Scott Porter in 2021 as a tribute to a departed friend.
Adriana Arellano and Cesar De La Rosa joined them for a short, soothing rendition of the Minecraft theme.
They added a sample of the main Skyrim theme to their cover of "The Dragonborn Comes" with Omar Cardona.
The guys included a snippet of "Still Alive" over the patron roll just as a fun bonus for themselves, but it received such an enthusiastic response from fans that they recorded a full version of it during their first PartWork series.
They integrated elements of the original NES Mario theme and sound effects into their arrangement for "Peaches" from the 2023 Super Mario Bros. movie.
○ Apparently, Geoff cracking up during the Pong bit caused several outtakes. (Good thing they were all filmed separately, so he was the only one who had to start over when he broke.)
○ Their wardrobe represents a few different video game franchises.
Tony has a Pikachu hat from Pokémon.
Eli is repping an old-school Atari logo shirt, which was already part of his regular wardrobe.
Geoff wears a Minecraft creeper shirt from Hot Topic.
Earl is sporting a Mega Man shirt.
Layne has a subtle Minecraft hoodie with enderman eyes on the hood from ThinkGeek.

🎮👾😔💣
Thanks for the ask!
🎮 Favorite Zelda game?
That goes to Majora's Mask, hands down. There's so much I love about the game that I feel holds up great even 20+ years later. If I actually go into depth about why I love this game it'll be an essay. The visual design, the story, how it excellently tackles themes of grief and trauma, the music, how alive the NPCs feel... there's too many to list. Not to mention it's a great sequel game to OoT (and in my opinion, surpasses it in a lot of ways). I believe it's the best Zelda sequel (with A Link Between Worlds being a very close second).
👾 Least Favorite Zelda game?
I've played most of the mainline Zelda games at this point. I haven't finished a lot of them, but I think I can confidently say this goes to the original Legend of Zelda. I don't want to be too hard on it because it's nearly forty years old, but the controls make it so frustrating to deal with. It's bad I am having a lot more fun with Adventures of Link, a game notorious for its difficulty, because this hasn't been a huge issue for me. Also, not having a clear overworld map made navigation incredibly annoying. I 100%'d the game (as well as Second Quest) and I don't think I will ever pick it up again.
😔 Least Favorite Zelda character?
Lana and Cia. I don't hate them per say and I recognize they are for fan service, but the game makes them way more important than it allows them to be. The two are barely characters: their defining trait is their love for Link and that's it. At least Cia has some semblance of agency, but it's nothing that justifies giving them so much focus. The whole two halves aspect could have been way more interesting if they didn't do the light good, dark bad trope (and that's not even mentioning the bad racial implication they did with Cia). And don't get me started on the epilogue and the game's attempt at redeeming Cia despite the fact there's nothing that warrants it.
💣 Favorite Zelda Item/Weapon?
Item wise? The spinner from Twilight Princess. My memory of that game is hazy, but I remember having so much fun with it (especially for the Stallord fight). It's equally fun in Hyrule Warriors too!
Weapon? That goes to the flamespears in Breath of the Wild, solely for the fact that they're aesthetically so pretty. I wish they were brought back in Tears of the Kingdaom (I mean I know why they weren't but I miss them).

Today I eat a romhack called The Legend of Banjo, by Charade for the NES.
I don't know what it is about Banjo and Zelda, but between this and Mark Kurko's wonderful "The Jiggies of Time" for N64, it really seems to be a match made in heaven.
As you can tell, it's a Legend of Zelda hack, but themed around Banjo Kazooie ( with a cameo from Yooka and Laylee's heads ), the premise isn't really "Banjo in Hyrule" this time so much as it is "Banjo Kazooie but in the style of Zelda", so you're still fighting Banjo enemies and bosses, but you'll be using Kazooie as a sword.
Even the music is changed in this one and that really goes a long way to making this one feel extra special. The author of this hack even made a map of the overworld that's very helpful in playing, especially since you get very direct hints about where to find heart containers this time... you'll need them, because bosses don't drop them this time. But they're not very difficult to find. This game is actually surprisingly accessible compared to the original Zelda.
Everything is fine and dandy until the 8th dungeon... it has a gimmick that makes it very confusing to navigate. I had to kind of look up a lets play that someone else did...
And on top of that... the final dungeon is bugged. I think this may be a side effect from playing on a real Nintendo NES but every room is dark, and cannot be lit up with the lamp, and all the enemy sprites are buggy and either displaying the incorrect enemy, or a mess of pixels. If I wasn't intimately familiar with Zelda 1 and how the enemies behave, I would have had a very tough time... final boss was working as intended though, so the ending wasn't spoiled for me, if anything it just made the last dungeon feel really eerie.
I love this one, and I recommend it to Zelda and Banjo fans. Unlike Mark Kurko's wonderful hacks though, I think you gotta be a fan of both to enjoy this one. Zelda fans who don't like Banjo might find the Banjo theme too silly to enjoy this, and it goes without saying, you need to really enjoy NES Zelda to enjoy this. I don't think anyone would consider playing this if they didn't enjoy Zelda 1 though so maybe it's a moot point. But yes... excellent NES hack.
