First off: Deaged Ellie\Teen Dad Danny

Since this got first place, here are three fics for this trope

My first submission for this is How To Become a Step-dad in 5 Easy Steps by CallMeStrega. It’s dead on main, with a ton of misunderstandings and pining Jason. Ellie is 6 in this fic, and it is so adorable

My second recommendation for this trope is Issues Regarding One Daniel Jonas by SIRDUCK_07. It has some dead serious, but that hasn’t shown up much in the fic yet. It delves more into how creepy Vlad is, and has twins Ellie and Dan.

My third submission is Brothers Ever After by Music_Feeds_My_Soul. It is somewhat centered around Damian and Danny being twins, but Danny being ‘pregnant’ with Ellie is a huge part of it, and it is a really good fic.

Next trope: Dimension Travel

My first recommendation for this one is Ghostly Delivery by WeirdNCrazy. It is very funny, and goes through Danny meeting all the main heroes, not just the Batfam.

My second recommendation for this trope is Danny's Accidentally Super-Inducing Adoption Chaos Filled Extravaganza! By Conartist170. Two of the tags are ‘This fic is not to be taken seriously’ and ‘Take everything with several ounces of salt’ which describes its vibes perfectly.

My first recommendation for fics of this ship is When You Accidentally Kill A Clown by SchlalensitzBucket. It’s only visible to those with AO3 accounts, but it is 100% worth it, with tons of shenanigans and shipping.

My next recommendation is Arctic Siren by Magpie_Crow. It is so cute and Danny is both androgynous and flirty as hell. Plus, something really cool happens in chapter one, leading to a smitten Jason.

Next up: Undead Dad Jason

My first rec for this type of fic is The Boy King and the Dark Knights by smallgaything. It is not only funny, but it hits you in the feels while incorporating several different tropes. Also, it’s one of the first Dcxdp fics I ever read, so it has a special place in my heart.

My second rec is Don’t Leave Me in the Dark by Astra_Nova_Kat. It has Good parents Fentons and Undead Dad, which isn’t really common, but works so well in this fic. It also has a bunch of misunderstandings, which everyone knows I adore.

Select an alternate universe to study abroad in for a semester. You'll be sent there with a new body that matches inhabitants of that realm. Little to no time will pass in your world, as time between dimension is entirely diffeent. Wherever you choose to go you won't be known to be from another dimension unless you tell people.

1- an endless forest made of massive trees, so tall no mortal soul has seen the ground or the unobstructed sky. The sentient races of this world consist of slender owl like humanoids, various insectoid races, short squat mushroom people, and a minority of rodent like creatures who live further down the trees. Technology in this world is as advanced as ours, but the aesthetics are more similar to our Victorian age. They say this world's heaven is deep above the trees, and this world's hell is deep below it, with each culture's religion having its own version of God/gods above an devils in the forest floor (outside of the mushroom people, who worship gods below.)

2- an endless system of volcanic caves and tunnels that demons and fallen angels come from. This realm is vast, and is ruled over by countless lords and kings, some truly evil, some merely strange. Demons and fallen angels come is countless forms, most looking somewhat humanoid, though with strange and unnatural distortions, from animal like parts to things humans would find much more horrifying. This is one of the few realms listed where they know what earth is, but they don't know much about it outside of myth.

3- an alternate earth where mythical creatures such as vampires, werewolves, deep ones, dragons, and witches exist. It also has a population of demons and faeries who came over generations ago. While they were in hiding for many millennium, they've now taken over most of earth, with humans being removed or conquered in some regions, and peacefully integrated into others. Though in both cases they are now a minority.

4- a version of earth that's both flat and entirely endless, with many sun's carving safe warm zones in the ice. Even with 21st century technology new lands are still being explored. Most social problems still exist, but things are looking a bit more hopeful, and the world's slightly nicer to live in. Cryptids, gods, magic and the afterlife are all proven to exist, even if humanity doesn't know much about them. Human bodies here naturally trend twords looking however the person inside them wants to look, and sexual attraction and pleasure don't exist.

5- an alternate earth where the kpg mass extinction never occurred. Dinosaurs remained dominant but kept evolving, leading to a sapient race eventually emerging from raptors. The raptors are currently at a similar technology level as us, though due to how they're mind works they've spent more time developing computers and mathematics than they have any other field of technology. Also don't mind the obelisk in the pacific ocean, nobody there knows what it does or who put it there either, and we won't put you anywhere near it.

6- a world filled with giant monsters of all kinds, some looking like massive dragons or Chimeras, others looking like more strange and colorful creatures. Though some animals are smaller, the smallest intelligent creatures are the size of bears, and the largest are much bigger than blue whales. Technology is limited in some regards, mostly as the inhabitants don't always need it.

7- the world of the faeries, strange and complex, and both terrifying and beautiful. Very little is known about this realm other than the strange and often dangerous creatures who come from this place. If you go here it's likely you will remember very little and enjoy very much.

8- a universe where humanity is completely isolated to spaceships and space stations, most of them the size of cities. Humans here are grown artificially, and have completely androgynous bodies that lack biological sex, and most of them combine their bodies with mechanical upgrades becoming cyborgs. Most humans never touch a planet, and those who do don't stay there for long. There are a few alien species with planetary civilizations, but almost all of them are strange and eldrich. Technology is incredibly advanced compared to ours, and quality is life is better. Most humans consider AI taboo, though normal computers are fine and commonplace.

9- a world where humans are entirely missing, but every species of mammal is sapient and humanoid. Birds and reptiles pick up the pace of animals in the ecosystem, as the mammals have created a global civilization. Though magic doesn't exist here, and technology is around a 21st century level, the quirks of each species have created a lot of situations impossible in our world. Though several nations exist, the main powers of the world consist of a group of powerful corporations, an ancient secret society, and the church of the dead gods, all of whom are locked in a cold war, that luckily keeps the nations of this world at peace.

10- a massive city, floating in the void, surrounded by eldritch horrors. Countless humanoids have made their homes in the city, most hailing from diffrent dimensions themselves, but permanently stuck here. Though many races here could pass for humans, none of them truly are, from the sirenia who have wings for arms and hands for feet, to the modutal who can take parts of their bodies off and swap them with other members of their race, to the subterranean vamire who eat raw meat and have albino skin, to the hyven whose minds are each split between two to five bodies. It's estimated between fifty to a hundred humanoids call the city home.

After talking to @chocobochaserstories about how mako might affect female SOLDIERs (e.g. making them more masculine presenting, among other things, ask Lu for full details, it's very interesting!), I think it works the other way too: pretty boys.

The lifestream is made up of souls, of any and all genders including the really neat animal genders and orientations (like snails that shoot darts to get each other pregnant), so I think it sands down the original characteristics/hormones of the people who inject it into their body and makes them more androgynous.

1. vertin is definitely rocking a button up pineapple shirt and those long a** dad shorts (Because she's our androgynous king 👑) with a straw hat to top it off

2 if they go to the beach instead of a lake in the suitcase there will be girls thinking vertin is a guy and trying to flirt with her

Confession: I don't like the beach so I didn't think about this at first, but now the brain is WORKING! Also, I love your ideas! You have me thinking about an entire scenario. Although, my mind focuses on Vertin the most lol so these probably won't be that interesting. This is more like a drabble than single HCs. The team heads to the beach because of a mission but they turn it into a vacation. Also, instead of a pineapple shirt, Vertin got this as a gift from the kids:

Suits and Ducks

Vertin tried to go to the beach with her suit. Desert Flannel and Blonney argued with her for a while saying how hot it'd be and so on. Vertin reminds them she crossed a desert in a suit and survived a shipwreck in her signature suit. She'll be perfectly fine going to the beach in her suit. It was the kids who actually managed to get her to change. Sotheby and the others gifted a silly shirt with little yellow ducks on it. They knew she wouldn't wear a bathing suit but they wanted her to join them! Since it was a gift from her crew, Vertin treasures it and proudly wears it in public at the beach. Outfit complete with bermuda shorts and a boater hat with a ribbon around it. Desert Flannel and Blonney tease her at first but they prefer this casual outfit instead of the stiff suit. Vertin looks like a dork but she's a cute and happy dork so they're secretly happy too. However, they're not the only ones to think that. Instead of deterring attention, Vertin catches the eye of a few beach goers since the shirt is a conversation starter. You know how it goes after that, our charismatic Timekeeper has a way of pulling people in once she starts talking to them. Also, she's pretty. Even if she's being silly, people seem to like Vertin's face. However, they give up on her once they see her crew, which happens to be full of beautiful people (Sonetto, Blonney, Desert Flannel, Druvis, Bun Bun, etc). The bar is high lol.

Eye of the Storm, Center of Attention

Sonetto was shy about wearing a bathing suit since she isn't used to showing so much skin. Desert and Blonney helped her find a modest one-piece and cover up that she felt comfortable in. She turned quite a few heads at the beach. She doesn't like being the center of attention, but she didn't mind the familiar weight of Storm gray eyes on her back while she splashed around with Regulus and the others. She made eye contact with Vertin on the shore. Vertin immediately tilted her hat over her eyes and turned her attention back to the bucket of seashells she and Eagle collected together. Later, the crew painted these shells together and decorated the gardens in the Wilderness with them.

Inner tubes and Ice Cream

Regulus is the captain of a giant floating inner tube. However, the others swarmed her “ship” and stole it. The pirate captain was thrown into the sea! When she went to complain to Vertin, she couldn't find her best friend. Her first thought was the one time Vertin mentioned she's not a great swimmer. Did the ocean claim her when she wasn't looking!? Then again, she survived being thrown into the sea while wearing a suit of all things–

Vertin spawned behind her with popsicles and ice cream. On one hand, Regulus was relieved but on the other, Vertin went to the store without her! The betrayal. They usually buy goodies together so the pirate can show her all the good snacks! Regulus forgave her when she realized Vertin bought frozen treats for all of them, including her. Vertin didn't want to interrupt her fun so she and Lilya went together instead. Lilya wanted to buy more alcohol anyway.

Regulus enjoyed her “rock n roll rocky road”, moved that Vertin remembered her favorite flavor. However their friendship nearly ended when she watched Vertin BITE into her Creamsicle (orange and cream pop). Vertin doesn’t feel pain or sensitivity so she always eats them like that…

Sonetto attempted to eat her blue-raspberry popsicle the same way after watching Vertin and immediately regretted it.

BBQ

Bunny Bunny’s BBQ smelled so good, other beach goers brought some of their ingredients over and offered to work together, kinda like a potluck where everyone brings something and the food is shared.

Night Fishing

Vertin doesn’t sleep at night because she naps during the day. She decided to try her hand at night fishing on the pier. She slipped out quietly so as not to wake her tuckered out teammates. Sonetto noticed she was gone because she hears everything that goes on in the Suitcase. She freaked out like usual until she found Vertin peacefully fishing on the pier. She sat with Vertin, using the Timekeeper's jacket as a blanket since she was still in her nightgown. Vertin tried to shoo her back inside since was clearly exhausted but she refused to budge. She ended up falling back asleep against Vertin's shoulder. However, Sonetto wondered if she dreamed the whole thing since she woke up in her bed the next morning. She didn't, Vertin carried her back the same way she does for the others. If Vertin is around, she sleeps like a log but if Vertin isn't around, she sleeps more lightly.

Vertin didn't catch much, but Satsuki prepared a Japanese style breakfast with it for her the next day. That breakfast ended up being “sampled” by so many other crew members that Vertin ended up nibbling on leftover BBQ to compensate.

She didn't let anyone touch her tea though. She'll share everything else but Satsuki's tea.

Kraken

Of course, this beach trip wasn't really a holiday. They were supposed to be investigating sightings of a sea monster. They almost forgot about it until Druvis and Lilya mentioned it in passing. Apparently the sea monster interrupted them while they were flying together on Lilya's broom over the water.

They managed to scare it off, but they need to take care of it since it's still a danger to others. The Timekeeper sets out with her crew to fight the beast.

The Kraken Calamari (Pavia's idea) they made hit different. Vertin made sure to save a portion for Madam Z and Tooth Fairy to try.

Home

When it was time to go home, Vertin decided it'd be nice to have a beach section in the Wilderness for the Summer. While she can't control the weather in her Suitcase, she can reshape the land. The others loved this idea. The Wilderness had other plans and it snowed on the first day of adding the beach. Imagine all these arcanists in summer clothes freezing outside (well, except the SPDM soldiers). They came inside and enjoyed hot chocolate instead lol.

Sunburn

They expected Vertin to get sunburn like some of the other arcanists, but she was fine. The Foundation's temperature training teaches them how to protect themselves from the elements with arcanum, which is why she crossed the desert and stuff without issue. Sonetto can do it too (she's really good at it), but she used sunscreen as a precaution.

Ms. Moissan made the children wear it too and used Sonetto as an example.

This means it was the young adults who suffered the most sunburn. Jessica was not happy about it. She didn't get sunburn, but Blonney did so she couldn't hug as much as she wanted.

do you have any thoughts or observations on queens design? i personally really like it (or them, really, i like all his appearances haha). i find it funny how caesar gives off more androgynous glamrock vibes and queen is a flamboyant rockstar, meanwhile judge is just. a guy in a military uniform. leave some cunt for him you guys 😢

YEAH I have design thoughts on about every One Piece character, honestly! But yeah this is very funny lmao. Utterly cuntless.

Jokes aside there's a lot of thought that Oda puts in these designs, especially in terms of pop-cultural archetypes and references, and especially when it comes to his villains.

Queen for sure has that "flamboyant rock-star" design philosophy. But for me, the more obvious vibe here is the Mad Max-esque leather & punk aesthetic, which itself in turn came from the real life equivalent leather and punk scenes. The leather & punk aesthetic after all did end up leaking into the rock-star scene, especially in the US, which yeah, Queen is meant to evoke a stereotypical "American" vibe as a character too, which is why he sprinkles English even in his Japanese.

If you put him next to King and his uh... whole situation, there's an obvious nod to the queer leather scene a bit, but that's also kind of a stereotypical "villain" aesthetic in a lot of pop culture, so it makes sense. Black straps and dark colors and spikes and studs etc etc. The Beast Pirates have that going on for them in general a bit haha. You see even more of the punk side of him in his young days in the MADS flashbacks, where he has long elaborate earrings and wild mohawk style hair. I do think the goggles he has specifically are also meant to add a bit of that "mad scientist" flair, especially combined with the cybernetics of his robot arm. Which... also has that more "dieselpunk" aesthetic associated with Mad Max type piece of media, rather than something more sleek. Combine that with the cigar, which is often seen as very masculine, with the make-up, the Frankenstein stitches, the tattoo.... and yeah, this is such an intentionally camp and confident character, it rules. He's meant to be equal parts pirate, delinquent, mad scientist, flamboyant rock-star performer and criminal boss full of swagger. He's fun to hate and you hate to love him, easily one of the most entertaining villains in the whole thing.

It's a very loud design, and so is he. I'm pretty sure he's also one of the tallest humans (bar Big Mom and her family) in the One Piece world, which combined with his bodytype, is definitely meant to make him feel like a huge, unbeatable, intimidating, well.. dinosaur man! A billion berry bounty doesn't feel surprising when you have a villain that is as tough and big as he is. It works very, very well! The Obelix comparisons from the Asterix comics have been made very often by many fans, and I agree! Asterix is huge in my country so I spotted that immediately, the striped overalls leave an immediate impression. We've also been seeing more of that aesthetic of his overalls in Elbaph a lot, which makes me wonder if that's intentional. He might not be a giant warrior, but he has the level of intimidation of one. He is as funny as he is scary!

As for Judge, you did joke about him being very... un-charismatic and un-flamboyant compared to the other two and yeah that's partly 100% true and intentional by design! Unlike the other two, he's not a silly comic relief antagonist the Strawhats just run into and have to defeat. Instead he has a very personal and visceral role, connection and relationship to one of our protagonists; that being, he is Sanji's abuser.

We see him the entire time through Sanji's eyes, which means nothing can be fun or funny about him. He is a terrifying and despicable force, an intimidating mountain of a man whose shadow Sanji feels trapped underneath. Tonally it makes total sense, especially with the narrative of WCI in mind. His villainy, while being also very cartoony and exaggerated at times, at the same time feels way more... close to real-life evils for us the audience. Yeah, maybe we don't have bio-terrorist saturday-morning-cartoon mad science rock star cyborgs who spread diseases for fun in real life, but we do have fascists, and child abusers and domestic abusers, and power hungry world leaders etc. He's less funny because he's less of an exaggerated unrealistic cartoon archetype than the other two, and thus easier to hate -and this is by design!

But I'd argue that there's a different type of Camp going on with him in terms of design outside of just "military dog". That is, he is a Tokusatsu Sci-fi Comic-Book Wrestling-Heel Archetypal Supervillain. He is literally, canonically, in-universe, featured as a comic-book villain. There's a reason he looks like he ties damsels to train tracks; he's an ode to classic pop-cultural imagery of a Bad Guy. His design is definitely mostly evoking Tokusatsu villains, who usually have a military aesthetic and ridiculous masks or helmets, which here is combined with a more classic fairytale "evil king" aesthetic.

Germa 66 and their army are based on primarily 3 groups of fictional Evil Organizations from pop-cultural sci-fi media: the Clone Army of the Empire from Star Wars (Order 66 being a namesake here), and primarily, "Shocker" and the "Government of Darkness" from Kamen Rider. Of course there's uh... the literal real life... y'know, historical elements of fascism being evoked here too; Oda is fully aware of those, and they're meant to contribute to the Stereotypical Evil going on with Germa. After all, the fictional groups I just mentioned, are all partly based on that too. It's very common in campy sci fi actually, since it's such an easy and obvious shorthand for "these guys suck".

The design of the Clone Soldiers seems to be directly lifted from the evil scientists from Shocker, who wear white luchador-style wrestling masks on their heads. Judge himself is stated to have earned his title of "Garuda" from his characteristic "full body slam" where he flies up (like an eagle) and then descends on his enemy with full force from up high (...like an eagle). That's a wrestling move! That stupid ass helmet he wears is definitely a mix of that wrestler heel aesthetic + tokusatsu tropes + spartan soldier helmets + a royal crown + western superhero comicbook designs (i.e. Judge Dredd, who could a be namesake) + a bit of Darth Vader thrown in there. It is camp! Just an intentionally unflamboyant kind of camp, since he's a parody of a more toxically masculine villany, even if that sounds ridiculous on paper.

He's an intentional charisma-black-hole, because of the role he plays as a bad guy in the story. Oda intelligently choose to withhold any comedy around him until AFTER Sanji is able to overcome his fear of him. After that it's free game, and we're allowed to see how pathetic and laughable he really is -any power of intimidation he had is stripped away from him. So now, post-WCI, he's just a Pathetic Asshole. So I think his visual design kinda accompanies the rules Oda set himself as writer! Oda is very good at what he does.

Temple of Bounty, Part III

Samson wanders the rooms. Each room is frankly normal, remnants of beds and dressers, tables and cups. He’s wandering the living facilities of the temple. He’s grateful that the light enchantments of the walls are still working, and he doesn’t have to hold a torch. His hands are free to wield his sword and shield, but it doesn’t seem that he needs them or his armor. There’s not even weaker monsters like scorpions in this area. What he needs is to find and protect his party. He goes through and find more ruined bedrooms, common areas, bathrooms, parlors. Many of the rooms have larger blocks that don’t match the rest of the masonry. Samson notes that they almost look like windows. “The temple must have started to sink and they plugged the windows. Surprised that there wasn’t more evidence of settlement in the jungle outside.” The knight takes out his pen and journal out from their waterproof skins and jots down his musings. He knows he shouldn’t do this in the temple, but there hasn’t been that much danger even in the monster filled first floor. Even Barrett could have survived the boss monster that was there. He continues his search, only to find the mess hall and kitchen filled with people. He took a step closer to find that they weren’t exactly people. They were Servants of Spice and Dye, benevolent spirits given form and asked to serve. They looked at him, and he noticed that oddly they were not made in the typical androgynous form but in masculine and feminine forms. The “men” are made of blue grains and gold leaf markings, and the “women” are orange dye and ivory markings. “Come on in! It’s been so long since anyone has visited.” Calls out one of the animated creatures. Samson steps forwards, scanning the room for danger, but all he sees are stone tables and chairs and Servants scurrying with activity. An orange servant comes out with a tray filled with foods exotic to him, They must be strong enough to conjure up foods. His stomach growls. He is happy to be an adventurer, but he is of noble birth, and rations are not the greatest of meals.

He clears his throat and declares, “I will, but I cannot tarry too long.” He steps forwards and takes a seat. A Servant sets down the tray. Servants are extremely benevolent spirits; he faces no danger from them. They cannot conceive of harming others. They will not do anything like stab you or even do something like serve you something rotten. The main reason they do not wander most palaces is that their kindness extends to all equally, be they pauper or princess. When they do serve at kings' courts, they keep attending to the mortal servants and guards. They are also far more expensive to make in comparison to just hiring someone. He extends a hand over the food. “May I?”

“Of course. Eat, eat.” A Servant pleads.

“There is no one else to serve, and we are so bored.” Chimes in another. Samson pulls away his helmet and picks up a toast covered in dried fruits that were covered in sugar and spices. “Our guest is so handsome” called out a servant that sat next to him.

“Thank you.” He bites down on the morsel. It’s sweet, but the spice balances out the flavor. The toasted bread adds texture to it. “Delicious.” He picks up some roasted melon that has its cavity filled with nuts and grains. He doesn’t notice the tingling on his belly where thick hairs begin to bloom or the slight swell to his abs. “Thank you.” a masc Servant responds.

“You must fetch a massive dowry.”

“There must be a bidding war for you.”

He chuckles as he finishes the melon. His sharp jaw is slightly softer than it once was. “I’m actually already married to a baron of a major city.” A Servant fills a cup with a sweet drink, though Samson smells no alcohol coming from it. “Then he is a lucky man to marry a warrior such as yourself.”

“He doesn’t always act like it.” He gulps down the drink to wash down the roasted meat he just ate. “That was curter than I meant.” He picks up a set of cookies from the tray. It’s all so delicious, and the servants kept filling the tray, and he’s so hungry. He shoves a cookie in his mouth, and when he swallows, his body softens even more. Fat presses against his plate armor, but a Servant sitting next to him undoes a clasp without a word to prevent discomfort. “It was a marriage of political convenience. I married into a title which I don’t have as fourth son, he married into a more powerful family through a man who preforms legitimizing acts of heroism.”

“He is a fool to squander you.” Says a Servant handing him a bowl of soup made of root vegetables.

“You deserve love and attention.” Calls out Servant who pours him a new drink of spiced cream.

“Yet you are so noble to have withstood this crime as you have,” flatters a servant as it deftly removes his plackart to let Samson’s new hairy paunch breath, but that gut is wrongly shaped to be pure fat, and Servants continue to serve and flatter the noble knight.

their dynamic is so insane. it went from 'i want you to be the next panthom sixth-man that will surpass the og' to 'i'm dropping you like a hot potato bc you're useless but i'm still gonna use you until you're spent anyway' to 'oh thanks for reminding me that i'm pathetic bc you're right i've talked so big before and end up embarrassing myself' to 'im so relieved you don't hate me after what i did to you'

akashi will always have a soft spot for his senpai after he's changed akashi into the best version of himself. akashi owes mayuzumi his life after saving him and the whole rakuzan bc let's be real here if mayuzumi didn't snap some sense into him, akashi would end up destroying himself and everyone would stop respecting him as the captain and people probably would be booing rakuzan idk. just look how hayama was so pissed when akashi was barely functional after his ass got beaten by kagakuro duo and nebuya was so close punching him in the face and even shirogane almost ditched him. however, mayuzumi, as the oldest member, he's being wise in his own way. he might be brash but at least he's still believing in akashi. he knew the akashi he met on the rooftop wasn't that weak so he accidentally triggered the "og" akashi coming back to life sorta like kissing a sleeping beauty from her long sleep lol

mayuzumi is not merely the new phantom sixth-man yada yada. his existence is the pivot of akashi's major character development, he literally helps akashi to find a way to himself so i will never get when the half of the fandom (long time ago) treated him just like Some Guy

oh gosh mayuaka is so dear to me. i shipped them as a joke at first bc haha look!! they're so silly!! i mean their first encounter was giving shoujo manga, right? the way akashi boldy said he's interested in mayuzumi to his face, on the school rooftop and probably happened in early spring, just like a heroine confessing her love to the protag 🏃‍➡️

not to mention akashi is literally the embodiment of the heroines in the light novel mayuzumi reads. i'm not making this up. this is canon i swear ✌️

also akashi starts reading the light novel that mayuzumi reads on the rooftop. he makes a fun of it at first saying its content is banal but still finds the heroine cute. also there's an official art where kise finds him reading a light novel with a moe cover on it lol

anyway, i think the reason akashi likes mayuzumi, aside his presence is interesting (akashi, for someone who’s collected, he giggles often around mayuzumi--he finds him amusing). he's like one of a very few people who doesn't put him on a pedestal. as we all know akashi is everything, right? he's our mister perfection but mayuzumi does not care about it at all. he does not fear him. he rejects akashi in the first place, something that akashi probably never gets before, and he makes akashi so human, noticing how lonely akashi is even describes him as a lonely king and he calls him a spoiled brat and actually chews him out when akashi acts like one

jokes aside, i love the way akashi understands mayuzumi on soul levels. he's like the only person who's aware of mayuzumi's presence when everyone barely remembers him, he knows exactly where he is (i mean how does he know mayuzumi is chilling on the rooftop both the first time they met and the scene where mayu should've attended a retirement ceremony. how does he know mayuzumi will come all the way from kyoto to tokyo just to paint some wall. how does he know he would come to hang out with the other shadows. and how does he know where's mayuzumi exactly when none of a single person no idea during graduation ceremony but it implies akashi has come to see and talked to him) he knows what mayuzumi wants and needs so he challenges him to the life he's never been before, opening a door for him to a new different world, and turning his life less boring, and how akashi knows mayuzumi's eating habbit and worried when mayuzumi is eating less.

mayuaka relationship is one of a kind. they're sure not the healthiest couple in the series and even borderline toxic at first (two arrogant assholes meet on the rooftop. truly a match made in hell) but they end up respecting each other and value the impact they've left on each other. they've brought out both the worst and the best of each other's. that's peak fiction right there!!!

and i think akashi's love for mayuzumi is unmatched. i mean yes everyone loves akashi; his friends and people in general (except his dad and haizaki haha) but no one really likes mayuzumi. no one loves mayuzumi the way akashi does. he always makes sure mayuzumi gets involved and not being left alone (post wc, of course) and how mayuzumi still admires him despite everything and is proud of him. oh gosh they love each other in a way i can't fully understand.

so many things i want to say about this ship and i wish could put into better words how much i love them but i'd end up writing a whole 10 pages essay and not stop ranting about them for like 10 hours.

NIJIAKA

nijimura is akashi's og senpai and akashi's senpai complex awakening lol

they're like one of the healthiest ships in the series. the mutual respect, mutual understanding, and the way their bond remains strong are so chef's kiss!!!

akashi is being casual around others but he's so respectful to nijimura. he sees him as someone he looks up to and nijimura is like the only person that akashi has relied on in teiko. nijimura may not be the best player but he knows how to handle his team well. nijimura also the person who calls akashi "obocchan" (like mayuzumi), implying that he sees akashi as just a kid, not a superhuman like everyone always thinks of him.

also i think they understand each other's responsibilities that they carry on their shoulders. like nijimura understands akashi's responsibilities as the only heir of a prominent family in a nation and akashi understands it must be hard for nijimura being the eldest brother with a sick parent (something that akashi could relate because he used to be in his shoes too) while he's still maintaining the team. tho if im being super honest, it's kinda rubbing me the wrong way the way nijimura just gives up on his captaincy to akashi who's barely 14 at that time. don't get me wrong, i love nijimura and i don't blame him at all bc he also has other things to worry about and if we have to blame we should've blamed the adults. it's just too much for akashi to carry the responsibility while he has a ton of other responsibilities on his back. like even tho akashi could doesn't mean he should.

nijimura also played a big part in akashi's character development. akashi started losing himself when he lost shirogane and nijimura. the "im counting on you, captain akashi" while akashi looked at his back will forever haunt me until my deathbed

anyway i love nijiaka. i always have a soft spot for them since nijiaka is like my very first akashi ship before myak topple it lol they're so cute and wholesome but

they also hurt me. for me, nijiaka is like divorced parents who still respect each other even though they take different paths and it makes me happy that they're still in touch despite everything (and it's like akashi is the only teiko person that nijimura is in touch with bc in his replace novel it implies that he distances himself from anything relating to teiko)

MIBUAKA

for obvious reasons, mibuchi is the only person who call akashi "sei-chan". he cares A LOT about akashi and very open to it. he literally pays attention to his sei-chan. his type is also a person who's attentive which is it's akashi.

their relationship is more like platonic to me (i'm biased bc mayuaka is the otp lol) but i'm also okay with them romantically. i mean mibuchi's major crush for akashi is super obvious, right. and he's not ashamed about it. akashi also knows it and he doesn't mind mibuchi being mibuchi around him. not to mention mibuchi literally reads love poems so he can one day recite them to the person he likes aka akashi.

they're so underrated gosh only the real ones recognize them. mibuchi deserves better and akashi is the best for him. they're adorable and funny together. i think after mayuzumi left, the rakuzan captain-vice capten duo would be so powerful. mibuaka ftw!!!!

HIMUAKA

okay, this one is a crack ship lol and def not an excuse for shipping akashi with older boys (i blame the 3rd fandisk!!). listen!!! i think they would get along because 1) basketball 2) murasakibara 3) nijimura, voila, the world is so small.

i think they're similar yet quite opposite of each other. both are basketball freaks (esp himuro), murasakibara's moms (mura is a spoiled child, he does not listen to others, except akashi and himuro), and the way akashi and himuro spoil murasakibara is similar: both bribe him with snacks and are not being too hard on him unlike midorima and fukui. not to mention, nijimura could see akashi in himuro, both are so mature for their age as nijimura mentions in the novel. and, oh, they're absolutely the prince charmings in their schools.

also besides himuro and akashi parallel, i think akashi could see nijimura in himuro too. both have this oniichan charms/the big bro figure in their groups (absolutely very akashi's type lol), beef with haizaki, are good at fighting, ex-delinquents yet very caring to the people they care about, and his physical appearance is similar to nijimura: black hair, grey eyes (funny mayuzumi has grey-eyes too), and they're about the same height (with himuro slightly taller).

i just realized akashi has very specific type: older, grey eyes, taller, pretty, and angry inside

i wish there were more himuro and akashi interactions since rakuzan and yosen are like cousins to each other (thanks to akashi who invites yosen to have a pratice match). they would be irresistible duo. also i think their dynamic would be akashi is the enbaler to himuro's shenanigans (just like in 3rd fandisc where everyone is pissed at himuro and akashi is the only one who enables him haha)

this crack ship is very rare which its very obvious why and only has less than 30 fics on ao3 but trust me they're all worth reading.

RAKUZAN

i love akashi with rakuzan better tbh he looks way more relaxed in high school than his middle school (for obvious reasons). they care and respect akashi as their captain (even someone's so prideful like mayuzumi) yet dot on him esp mibuchi. they're not really seeing akashi as a tyrant leader, they're babying him instead. rakuzan is basically a circus and akashi is one of the clowns. i love them so much.

GENERATION OF MIRACLES

they're very dear to akashi. the reason akashi lost himself is because he's afraid of being abandoned and left by his dear friends but thank god their relationship has been so much better. i love the way akashi is so caring about his friends well-being to the point nagging, he's literally the mom friend even aomine jokes about akashi being their mom ("are you a freaking mom?!"). akashi deserves love and his gom friends give him all the love they have.

YUKIMARU

akashi's very bestest friend. born on the snowy day and the same age as akashi. he loves his yukimaru so much he even has yukimaru plushie. so cute.

YUDOFU

akashi deserves all the yudofu in the whole world

HIMSELF

bokushi as oreshi's #1 protector will always have a special place in my heart. oreshi himself said bokushi is like his little brother that is mischievous yet he eases the burdens on his shoulders. they're made for each other. truly the soulmates of each other. i love them as both separate people and as a whole person.

a random headcanon

i have soooooo many akashi's headcanons but since i have yapped from the beginning, i will pick one: akashi's love language is food. that's very asian of him lol. he loves cooking for people he cares about and pays attention to their well-being. he would ask them if they had their meals yet and def would cook their favorite food.

general opinion over said character

he's the victim of mischaracterization by the fandom over a decade. i mean, yeah, he’s stabbing kagami with a pair of scissor and being mean to him were so unnecessary, but half of the fandom has made it his whole personality. ffs, it's just one time thing and he's just being silly!!!

i'm tired of half of the fandom treating him like a ruthless psycho who would kill you. sure, he has said embarrassing things and i've got second-hand embarrassment from it but again he's just a chunni, okay??? everyone has been through this phase, it's just akashi's chunnibyou is very apparent lmao

i think akashi is the softest person in the whole series. the way he's very caring and attentive to the people around him yet he himself has a lot of responsibilities, def too heavy for his small back to carry alone. he still manages to put others instead of himself first is just 🥺🥺🥺

akashi has always been a lonely kid. that's why his fear of abandonment is very obvious. he's also the victim of his father gaslighting to the point he thinks he's not allowed to have fun. but through the series, we can see how much people love and care about him. the way they put their trust in him is very telling. akashi has always been too hard on himself and i hope he knows his friends and boyrfriend love him so much.

Hi all! So even if I wasn't thrilled with Wish as a final product, I was really inspired by Brittney Lee's wonderful concept art for a more human-esque "Star"...so I decided to take that idea and put my own twist on it! Because as much as I like Brittney Lee's concept, I had two main thoughts in the back of my head while drawing this --

I actually liked that Star in the film wasn't explicitly male or female, and Disney hasn't ever done a non-binary main character in one of their animated films before, so I thought a more androgynous look could be interesting.

The original concept's hair makes him look A LOT like Jack Frost from Dreamwork's Rise of the Guardians, in my opinion -- and yes, although I like Jack, I don't see Star being much like him.

So -- thinking to salute the original idea of the filmmakers to take inspiration from past Disney projects -- I took visual inspiration from several characters, most from the Golden and Silver Age of Disney Animation (except for Puck from Disney's Gargoyles TV series, but come on, he's just fun), so as to play up the mute, but still very extroverted, sweet, playful personality this character would have. Much like mute side characters from some of Disney's previous works like Dopey, Dumbo, and the Spring Sprite, you would never be in doubt about what Star is feeling (if nothing else than because like Tinker Bell, they're prone to change color like a mood ring 😂) -- but as a central character of a full feature film with a very close (possibly even romantic) bond with our heroine Asha, they would have the chance to express a wider range of feelings than their predecessors...not just through their animation, but also (I would add!) a score that captures their mercurial air and feelings as well as Fantasia blended its art seamlessly with famous classical pieces.

To close us out -- some of the instrumental pieces from previous Disney projects that served as a playlist for my image of Star while working on this! Because for me, music and Disney have always gone hand-in-hand, and honestly, a cohesive and powerful score outside of just the lyrical music numbers always makes a Disney film 150% better...and I think in Wish's case, it would've also been elevated, if its music had come together in conjunction with the instrumentals meant for each scene to create a more cohesive score.
