Prompt 8 - First Heartbreak

“Oh, Remus,” Lily said as she turned the corner and saw him trying to hold back his tears. She wrapped her arms around him the best she could and hugged him in a way only she and his mum could. He sniffed hard as the tears tried to escape. He screwed his eyes shut as he began to break down.

His chest shuddered as he fought back the sobs, but they broke through and then Lily was stuffing a tissue into his hand as fat, hot tears streaked his face. 

“I-I-I-I’m s-s-s-s-sorry,” He choked out between sobs.

“What���s wrong, Remus?” She asked, stroking her hand up and down his back soothingly. 

“I’m such an idiot,” He said, shaking his head.

“Remus?” 

“I fell for Sirius, and now he’s got a new girlfriend and I just couldn’t stay up there,” He gasped in breath after breath as he tried to calm himself.

“Shhhh, it’s alight, shhhh,” Lily cooed, continuing to stroke his back. 

Sirius had spent the last 2 hours singing her praises and describing in great detail exactly what Emmeline Vance had let him do with her. When he’d started talking about how soft the inside of her thighs were, Remus had excused himself and gone to his favourite hiding place, a window sill, obscured by the statue of a troll in clunky armour, on the fourth floor. 

He hated how much Sirius having a girlfriend was hurting him. He had no right really. Sirius and the others didn’t know how he felt, only Lily knew and only because he’d needed to tell someone he liked boys. 

Lily let him cry himself out before she started cleaning him up. 

“Thanks, Lily,” He sniffled as she wiped his face dry. 

“I’m always here for you Remus. Even if it's to wipe your snotty face.” Remus laughed, blinking away the last few tears.

“It’s pathetic, isn’t it? Sirius having a girlfriend shouldn’t upset me so much. It’s never going to happen between us. I need to realise that and move on.” Maybe he should take Connor Innes up on his offer to go on a date on the next Hogsmeade weekend. That would be sure to shock the rest of the Marauders.

“We all have feelings for those we shouldn’t. Buck up, you’ve just experienced your first taste of heartbreak. Welcome to the club,” Remus narrowed his puffy eyes at her. 

“Who’s broken your heart?” He asked with no idea who it could be.

“Are you ready to go back up?” Lily said, totally skirting around Remus’s question. “I can come sit with you and tell Sirius to shut up or cast a bat bogey hex on him; I’ve been practising.” Remus chuckled sadly. 

“That sounds good, but could we just have a few more minutes here,” He asked hesitantly. 

“Anything you want, sweetie,” Lily told him, wrapping her arm around his shoulders and letting Remus lean against her. 

It would probably always hurt having these feelings for Sirius, but he hoped they’d become easier to handle in the future because he didn’t think these feelings would ever go away, and he refused to lose Sirius as a friend. He sighed and stood up, bringing Lily with him.

“I’m ready,” He told her, and together they walked back up to Gryffindor Tower, Remus feeling a bit better than when he left.

I keep thinking of tfp Sentinel au and I can't help but come up with a reason for, like, how the f are Megatronus and Orion friends and coutinue to be friends with Sentinel

Here my speculation on their 'friendship' with Sentinel,

Setinel has a measure of casuality to both of them that they don't really encounter due to their situation, and that something that can be interpret as a willingness or an invitation toward a friendly, closer relationship. They see Sentinel as being 'one of the good one' or at least not so bad while also being their unwitting teacher in the world of the high caste but they unconsciously don't see him as one of them because instead of sipping fancy highgrade in some noble party, he's shit-talking Megatron in the normal people rows of the stadium.

In some post where Sentinel is sitting on Megatronus's lap showing him a datapad, I can't help but feel that he is just casually showing just why and how exactly the higher caste fuck over those lower just to fuck with him, unwittingly giving him imformation that are very useful, hell, he probably do the same with Orion, snootily giving him backhand advices and Orion taking it as goodwill and befriending him.

To them, Sentinel's their privilege asshole friend(with benefits in case of Megatronus) that they sometimes have moments with, the kind you don't really think about when they are gone from your life until something remind you of them.

Sentinel doesn't actually see them as friends, he's sluming it because he is bore, he likes to show them just things about the higher caste and how exactly they fuck over those lower to watch their reaction

CW - Grave, open grave, funeral, minor character death

The service had been small. Hope hadn’t had any family left apart from Lyall and himself. She had a few friends dotted about who had made the journey to see her off, but most of the mourning party was made up of Remus’s friends. Sirius, James, Peter, Mary, Marlene, Dorcus and Lily. They’d all met his Mum at least, and she'd loved each and every one of them. 

Lily had his left hand in hers and gave it a squeeze to get him to stand up as his mum’s coffin was carried from the church. Sirius had his right hand and together he and Lily led him to walk behind Hope. He watched with tearful eyes as she was lowered into the ground. 

“Ashes to ashes, dust to dust,” The Vicar read the prayer, but Remus blocked out the rest. Hope had been the religious one, not him and certainly not Lyall, but this had been her last wish, and they'd sworn to grant her it. Lily dropped his hand and he shuffled forward to drop a handful of soil onto the shiny coffin that held his mum. 

“I miss you so much already, Mum,” He whispered to her. “ I love you,” He dropped the dirt from his hand and winced at the sound it made as it crashed onto the coffin below. Sirius dipped to scoop up a handful as well. 

“Rest easy Hope, say hi to Alphard for me,” And he let the soil spill from his hand. He helped Remus back to where Lily was standing, and she took his hand again after saying her own farewell. 

Remus was unaware of anything but the two hands holding his. But soon the service was over, and two men began filling in the grave as the mourners filtered out of the graveyard. Lyall came up to him and grasped his shoulder in his big hand, his eyes shining bright with unshed tears. 

“Thanks for coming, Hope would have loved seeing you all,” Lyall said to the others. "See you tonight," He added to Remus before walking away. 

His friends gathered around him, encasing him in their love. They stood in the cold until the men had finished their job and left them to it. Remus approached the edge of the grave again and shook. She was really gone. He felt Sirius shake too. Then a snort from James. Soon all his friends were trying in vain to hide their laughter. 

“What is it?” He turned to Sirius, his heart broken. 

“I’m so sorry, love,” Sirius took a deep breath, wiping the tears from the corner of his eyes. “It’s just who picked out this spot?” 

“Mum did,” He answered, his voice croaking. “Why?”

“It’s just. Oh, I don’t really want to tell you, not right now,” Sirius grimaced. 

“Tell me,” Remus begged. He had a million thoughts rattling around in his head. Sirius looked around for help but no one stepped forward. He ran his free hand through his hair. 

“It’s just Hope is surrounded by Cox,” Remus’s eyes bugged out of his head. Surely he couldn’t have heard that right. Sirius pointed at the graves beside Hopes and behind. 

“They’re overheard as well,” Marlene snorted from the graves on the row in front of Hopes. 

Remus peered at the name beside his mother’s fresh grave. ‘Irene Cox’. He burst into loud uncontrollable guffaws. He fell to his knees at his mother’s graveside, unable to stand with the laughter escaping from him. 

“Merlin, Mum. Thanks. Thanks so much. I love you,” He blew a kiss to the quiet earth, knowing Hope must have set this up to make him smile one final time. He stood up and looked at his friends gathered there to help him through this horrid time in his life. 

“Let’s go get a pint and a sherry for Mum so we can drink to her,” Sirius grabbed his hand again, squeezing it gently. They followed the twisting path out of the little graveyard and Remus could have sworn he heard his mum’s laugh following after them.
