The Ultimate Team-Up (reverse!AU)
Miguel Davidson, also known as Mirage, tries to steal rare 1994 Dodge Viper for money, unaware that it's a young Autobot in disguise with a protective green Dodge Challenger as a brother.
or
A Transformers Reverse AU of Noah meeting Mirage and the Autobots in Rise of the Beasts then joining forces to get the Transwarp key
Ao3 Fic Sneak Peek Below
Miguel Davidson remembers what the world looked like before it all went to shit. He remembers living in a beautiful home under blue skies and luscious green grass with smiling parents.
But that was when he was barely out of college.
Smog and grime fill the atmosphere and the smiles on his parents’ face are lifeless and covered in blood. Manipulated and brainwashed civilians walk the streets cheering the names of Megatron and his Decepticon task force with UniCorp’s face and logo painted on every flat surface on Earth.
For a while, Miguel felt alone in this dystopian world, just messing with officials and stealing cars and technology left and right when. He couldn’t leave all the credit to him, much thanks to his charisma and maybe a bit of help from his hologram tech. At least he's putting his optical engineering degree to some use.
They call him the Mirage, the illusionist thief. Kind of flattering.
Mirage.
Kind of dumb but it fits.
Luckily for him, he’s not the only one with a dumb nickname.
Benjamin O’Brien, or Bumblebee the young speed demon insists Mirage to call him, was the first friend he made while wandering the 1984-remake environment. They met during a protest and they found each other as roommates when they were hiding.
Months later, they found each other as teammates when the scout convinced his leader, Orion Cullen or Optimus, to let the thief join their rebellion.
Bee doesn’t talk much, both literally and figuratively. Mirage knows a little bit about him.
He’s a few months younger than him, likes 80’s music, hates the Smiths but listens to them 24/7, dreamed of being a race car driver since he was little, and is a scout for the Freedom Racers, followed by stories of raids he led with the yellow Camaro he built from scratch in the racing pits of Optimus’ speedway.
Bee is also mute.
After a year living and working together, Bee told Mirage the story of losing his voice in a riot a few years back. Decepticon member Blaze Sobolov, nicknamed Blitzwing, shot him in the throat, getting multiple pieces of metal lodged in his vocal cords. From that day on, Bee now speaks through a built-in radio and soundboard in his smartwatch with the occasional sign language.
It didn’t bother him before but as time went by, his throat started to get infected, swollen and red. The team feared the worst if left untreated but they’re not in the position to go to the hospital and get help, afraid of getting caught by the Decepticons.
Mirage isn’t willing to wait for Bee’s throat to fully close up and goes out to do what he does best; Steal.
He got a tip that someone is willing to give loads of cash in exchange for luxury cars, specifically ones hiding in UniCorp parking lots. That money will allow Mirage to buy the materials he needs to build a magnet that could keep the metal pieces away from Bee’s throat and temporarily save him. It's only until the revolution is over and they can go to a real doctor.
Sneaking in was the easiest part. A few holograms here and there and he was within seconds. He wandered the parking lot holding a photo of the targeted car, careful to not make noises in the cramped concrete building. Luckily for him, it didn’t take too long for him to find it.
Two cars lay in front of him in the corner of the first floor.
One is a forest green 1970 Dodge Challenger, looking slightly beat up with scratches near the bottom of the metal and the bumpers.
Parked right next to it is a bright orange 1994 Dodge Viper RT/10. It shined as a distinct opposite of the old Challenger. The paint is shined and polished with a brightness that burns his eyes and the metal looks so smooth as if it was manufactured straight out of the factory.
“Goddamn!” He exclaims almost jumping in excitement. Getting this money will be easier than he thought.
“Do you hear that?”
“Shit.” Mirage quickly covers his mouth, realizing the echo from his excitement. Footsteps and mumbles of soldiers made Mirage flinch, quickly crouching down to hide behind the Viper.
The thief muffles his excitement, giddily shuffling towards the orange Viper, brushing his hands over the clean paint, a smile leaking onto his face. He does smell some rust near the undercarriage as he crouches. Mirage worries for a moment that it might affect the price but waves it off. Some air fresheners and a bit of charm could cover it up.
Ignoring the rust, this car alone would be enough to pay for Bee’s magnet five times over. In addition with the Challenger, which with a bit of paint and buffers, doesn’t look too banged up-
“We’ll check it out later.”
Oh well, one will do.
Mirage quickly got to work. He stands up next to the driver’s seat, pulls out a wire from his bag and snuck it into the lock, pulling it to hear the click of the lock.
“Mirage is in.” The blue-haired rebel whispers, excited to get his ticket to extra cash out of the concrete parking lot. Unfortunately for him, it was quickly short lived when the lock went back down.
CLICK!
For a moment, Mirage was confused but quickly brushed it off to try again.
Then he tries again. And again. And again.
CLICK! CLICK! CLICK!
“You’re a real piece of shit.” Mirage wants to laugh. It’s as if the car is making fun of him, like it’s playing a game that only it knows the rules. Or maybe it just doesn't want Mirage to get inside.
“That’s how you want to play then.” Mirage grumbles, trying to ignore the fact that he’s scolding a car like a naughty child, before pulling on the wire again to get the lock loose. Before the car could lock it back in, Mirage pulls on the door handle to open.
“Ah ha! Gotcha!”
The thief immediately hops into the navy blue and black leather interior, bouncing on the seat and drumming his palms on the steering wheel. He sits back and lets himself breathe, taking in the mix of bitter iron and new car smell and feeling the plastic of the dashboard and radio.
“Now this is what we call a car.” He mumbles before bending down to hotwire the car, pulling out a piece of the dashboard under the steering wheel to reveal multiple wires hanging out but burnt red and black dust fall from the compartment making Mirage cough. There’s even rust inside? Jeez, who owned this thing? Some car care.
Small sparks light up the dark car as he tries to start up the car with routine ease. The car starts to rumble a bit, waking from the sparks. For a moment though, he sits back up with a smirk to look back at the black and green Challenger, “Don’t get jealous, baby. I’m coming back for you later.”
“NYPD! Come out of the vehicle with your hands up!”
Shit.
Mirage turns towards the window and outside a couple feet away from the car are two police officers, aiming their guns at him with stoic expressions. The thief doesn’t even flinch, rolling his eyes and his cocky smirk returning his face. He rolls down the window and leans his head out the door.
“Hello officers. How may I help you?” Mirage asks with a natural suave, hoping the two will be distracted enough for his two hands to finish hotwiring the car.
The police don’t waiver from his charisma but are confused at his unshaken confidence. “The hell? We said to come out of the car! Or we will engage!”
Mirage laughs but he fumbles the wires a bit faster, “Sounds like the night shift is getting to you. How about we relax, go out for donuts or somethin’?”
One of the officers leaned over to the other, guns still pointing at the thief, “Sir, that’s Mirage. He’s one of the rebel racers. The one with the holograms.”
Mirage’s smirk grows into a big grin, “I see my reputation precedes me. Want an autograph or-”
The car’s radio buzzes to life, interrupting Mirage’s retort. His smile shrinks into a worried stare. The dials spin frantically between different stations before buzzing in white noise. If Mirage listens close enough, he can hear a voice.
“Kris! Bzzt! Kris! Bzzt! Can you hear me?” An urgent voice filters through the static, almost too buzzed for Mirage to translate but enough for him to slightly recognize a few words.
“The hell?”
“Are you listening to me?!” Mirage’s head shot up from the radio to the officers, looking more annoyed than before and slowly creeping up towards the car. “Get out of that car or we will shoot!”
“Screw this. I’ll get you pretty boys later.” The white noise continues to buzz in the back and Mirage, not willing to push any more buttons, rushes to open the door. He grabs the door handle and pushes to open but the sudden noise of the lock startles the thief, even more when the door refuses to open. “What the hell?”
“Kris. Bzzt! Please calm down. Bzzt! Just unlock the doors.”
“Who’s Kris?” Mirage yells amidst his confusion.
“Get out of the car!” The officers are barely five feet away from the car door and his grip on the handgun grows tighter on the trigger.
“I can’t!” Mirage yells through the glass, banging on the window and kicking the frame, "It won't open!"
“You have three seconds to get out of the car!” One of the officer’s threatened as the safety of the gun clicking.
His original confidence has all but faded away, staring at the two uniformed men with panicked eyes. He’s not going to get caught now. He punches the doors and digs his heels into the plastic interior hoping to loosen the door but the car refuses to budge. It even seemed to flinch at every hit.
“Stop kicking me!” A child’s voice drips out from the car but oddly enough, not from the radio. “Noah! I can’t… I can't breathe!”
Was that a kid?
“Three!”
The green Challenger comes to life as well. The angry-sounding roars of a waking engine thundering so loudly that it made the concrete of the parking lot shake. Mirage and the police officers jump at the mere sound of it. The headlights flash on and the car inches towards the orange Viper ever so slightly.
“Kris, stay with me.” The voice returned, with an accent Mirage recognizes to be Puerto Rican, muffled by distance and no longer coming from the radio but from the other car. The urgency didn’t leave but it sounds gentle, comforting to the ear as the child’s voice starts to hyperventilate. “Please calm down. Cadimus Prime said to stay hidden.” Cadimus Prime?
“They have guns!” The child’s voice cries with a desperate voice that makes Mirage’s heart crack, his kicks faltering at his begs.
“Two!”
“Kritical, listen to me.” The hispanic voice, edging from urgent gentleness to growing fear, and softly grumbling to reassure the other car.
The orange Viper doesn't respond. The wheels begin to squeal and spin so fast that black rubber stained the stone floor like the car was having some kind of panic attack.
“Three!”
Mirage stops kicking the car, his head spins towards the police and hands pressed against the window in surrender. “Don’t shoot!”
BANG! BANG!

Sooooo I forgot to do this a bit ago so here we go. This is for iNtersubJeCtiVe requital.
The Mildenhall family (Owners of Myrmidon Tech, a robotics company responsible for the creation of the Industrial Drones, War Drones and Protectorate Drones. Not to be confused with Myrmidon Inc with The_Caretaker's Eschatology series...though please do check out his stuff! He's an amazing friend and has been a massive help with all my stuff!)
Father: Baron Theodore "Teddy" Mildenhall. Blonde hair, blue eyed, Germanic descent. 6'4" and built like a tank. Former Australian army man. One of James' old college buddies. Big game hunter, owns Myrmidon Tech. Loves hunting, loves his wife, loves his son. Was there for James when his family died and did his best to keep his mind off the deaths. Started up Myrmidon Tech in honor of his wife's family history.
Mother: Baroness Martha Mildenhall-Dikaios. Black haired, teal eyed, olive skinned, Greek descent. An old estranged friend of Louisa's. Her meeting Teddy marked the best day of her life, they noticed their best friends were single and plotted to hook them up. Martha realized how shallow and heartless Louisa could be and had fallen from "grace" by confronting Louisa on her habits. They do not get along but for the sake of their husbands' (for Martha) and their own (for Louisa) reputations, they will...grudgingly tolerate each other. She has family on Proxima-2, a brother with his wife, son and daughter.
Son: Orion "Ryan" Mildenhall. 9 year old boy who looks very much like his mother with her dark hair, teal eyes and olive toned skin...he has a smattering of freckles across his cheeks like his father though. Sweet and kind, Ryan is not a big fan of hunting like his father...instead preferring to sit inside and read about bugs and play chess. Incredibly intelligent, he and Tessa have sparring bouts in chess which most often end in a draw. He does hunt every once in a while with his father but never pulls the trigger on an animal. His father understands this and just enjoys spending time with his boy. He likes to talk about his cousins on Proxima-2, expressing that he wants to go and see them soon and would like for Tessa to come with him to meet them. He is Tessa's best, and only, human friend.
A note to remember: Because of how close Tessa and Ryan became, James and Louisa decided to have Tessa betrothed to Ryan as a Merger wedding between JCJenson and Myrmidon tech (the Elliots own JCJenson from Louisa's side). While Theodore and Martha were happy to potentially welcome Tessa to the family...they are quite big on the "marry for love" aspect of Marriage and wanted the same for their son and for Tessa. Fortunately it seemed as if Tessa and Ryan were heading down that route.
Until one day changed...everything...

During Kaijune, I kept thinking of Mechagodzilla and I really wanted to include mechs in my Kaiju Crisis world. Of course big corporations would take advantage of the disastrous situation, not to mention political figures, militaries, celebrities, & others would get involved. Also again, wanting to challenge myself (oh boy these are getting redone)
The first of the bunch was this starry hoplite mech Orion, the first ever mech made & only space one adapted (inspired by Saint Seiya armors). Top secret project bc companies are ripping each other off. Shit happens (companies doing dirty shit), first model’s ruined & blueprints are stolen, the company & their charismatic pilot go dark on all platforms, no one able to reach out for information or updates. Time goes, more kaiju show, even from space and during battle does the world find out that the company Star Tower (now with a factory based on the moon) changed their focus & formula for their mechs. Public’s now busy being puzzled by this formerly charismatic pilot’s change of demeanor.
The 2nd in porcelain is Checkmate, the first successful mech from an individual duke without involvement of other designers or companies. There’s no greater play one can make in the game of politics like saving the royal family’s lives when their estate is sieged by kaiju spawn hordes. Duke & Duchess Something-something(I never made a name) & their new security tech company the Lolita’s Heirs are here to make their mark in the Kaiju Crisis, with every blow of the Checkmate’s jackhammer fist, imprinting the company logo & their noble crest.
Now on the other end of the spectrum, risen from a junkyard by couple of college kids trying to strike out in the robot fight leagues, this is their shoddily built mech Meathead. Much smaller than the other mechs, but few can mimic its speed & insanity leaps. The cons of being a piece of junk is that it’s easy to wreck, but the pros? It’s a piece of junk, extremely cheap to fix it back up. The local populi love this rust bucket, a reminder that the rich should not be uncontested in “playing hero” for the world they indirectly destroy all the time.
The fiery samurai mech Tsurai Tsume is a custom mech among a paramilitary assembly line. Globally, all mech companies, if not financially supported by their respective government, are funded by a plethora of sponsorships & donations, usually public supporters, manufacturers, and so on. Kami Kutter Incorporated, widely known in the east for effective mech lines, made a surprising partnership to the public. Now mech companies have had celebrities show their support, but no one else has ever let them actually pilot a mech! Catgirl idol Maneki Habani, a bubbly & sparkling personality, was not who people expected to see exit the mech’s cockpit after brutally decimating a pack of kaiju & displayed a frightening love for fire. This one was directly influenced by Lancer RPG.
The last mech, unnamed because “they’re not for sale you fools, stop trying to buy my bodyguard”. Afrofuturism but a want for magic brought this sketch to life. I figured that not all of my mechs needed to be directly attached to only fighting kaiju or reach other. A fashionable heiress taking care of business, appeases her family’s concerns for her safety by making this lumbering guardian. Outside forces question what they see, people keep a wide berth, and many would to have their own protective golem. Too bad she does not care for they want. Whoever thinks they’re hunting her, keep your eyes open, that’s not the only one.

Back on my Optimus Reader obsessed bullshit
(It’s been a while since I wrote anything, so, I tried) Not reread before posting.
I watched as Orion closed his truck door and ran back into the house to get his keys to hide the fact that he can open his truck doors without a key.
I grabbed the keys before he got in and smiled. “Okay, this has gone on long enough, how can you open the truck without a key? I don’t have a key, it is expensive to have an extra key soo?” I shrugged.
“Have I really been that obvious?” Orion asked?
It took everything in me not to laugh. “You really don’t think it’s suspicious that you’ve never eaten anything I’ve ever made? Or that you can’t even cook scrambled eggs, a grilled cheese sandwich or cook Mac and Cheese?”
Optimus sighed before talking. “I guess that was easily noticable.”
I laughed and took a deep breath. “And respectfully, how you talk. My dad was college educated and one of my grandparents lived with us, and they didn’t even sound that wise or intelligent like that.”
“And how long were you going to let me miserably attempt to hide the truth from you?” Optimus sounded a little… Disappointed?
I sighed, letting my smile start to fade. “I don’t know. So what is the truth?”
“I am actually Optimus Prime and I am from the planet: Cybertron and there was an extensive war that unfortunately made it to Earth. In order to protect the natives, my team and I had to scan vehicle modes to blend in and prevent mass panic.” Optimus said matter-of-fairly but being slightly fidgety with his hands.
“Hey.” I quickly held his hands. “It’s okay, I’m not mad. If it’s too much to talk about, really, we can stop.” I walked him to our couch and I was going to bring water but quickly realized that wouldn’t work so I grabbed a bag of ice. “I would give you water but, you don’t really drink that do you?”
“No, but holding a bag of ice would definitely help. And I want to talk about it.” Optimus held the bag of ice in his hands and I sat next to him. “My team chose to return to Cybertron while I chose to remain on Earth. I have tried to contact anyone but with little to no success.” I hugged him.
“I can tell you miss them. I bet they miss you too. Maybe it’s just bad timing and tech issues. Give them more chances, I’m sure they’ll reach out and talk to you.” He put his head on my shoulder and I rubbed his side.
“So what do you actually drink and how does the whole truck thing work?” I asked, trying to change to a lighter subject.
“I consume and eat energon, the kind that’s light blue. And the truck is my vehicle mode and my robot for is concealed within. I use what’s called a holoform to blend in with humans better and understand more.” I smiled a little.
“Thank you for telling me all of this, I am really proud of you.” I smiled more. “Good choice of human form by the way.”
Optimus laughed, I kissed his (cheek/lips) and put the ice bag back in the freezer.
Your partner is trying to hide their nonhuman nature. You figured it out months ago but play along because you find their antics amusing.

The Origins of Kavrillia - Part Three
[Part One - Part Two]
2004-2018
I gave up art for many years, choosing to concentrate on my writing instead. There were several reasons for that that I won't get into now, but a major one was that after college graduation I didn't have the opportunities to doodle like I did while sitting in class. Doing so always helped me focus on what I was learning (hello, undiagnosed ADHD) and without that environment I found it harder to get into a drawing frame of mind. I'm sure the time sink of World of Warcraft, which I became addicted to in the summer of '05, didn't help, either.
What I lacked in visual art, however, I made up for with world building. It was during this time that I gave my universe a major overhaul. Before, the story was spread across multiple planets, and the Lanarian Empire spanned a good swath of the galaxy. There were sci-fi elements with faster-than-light travel and ray guns, all left over from the War of the Worlds days. I wasn't that interested in the science behind such gadgets and never delved into the details in the text. They were just there. The story always had more fantasy vibes than sci-fi, though.
So I decided Kavrillia wasn't just the home world. It was the only world. What used to be star systems became islands and archipelagos. Space ships were replaced with high speed trains and sophisticated boats. A pistol with bullets worked just as well as a ray gun. A supernova turned into a volcanic eruption.
This also fit better with the approximately 1990s level of technology that the characters use in their everyday lives. They have computers for word processing and databases, with rudimentary networking but no internet. They have a version of walkie-talkies or radios, but no cell phones. They still read actual, physical newspapers. Surely a civilization that had colonized many star systems would have better tech than that. It just made vastly more sense for everything to happen on one planet.
The main holdover from the old setting was videoconferencing, or what are referred to in-universe as vidphones. Such technology existed on Earth long before it became mainstream, so perhaps the Kavrillians just prioritized that over other things. Considering the movement of their antennae is a significant part of their body language, maybe being able to see that was important.
The other two hints that there used to be more of a sci-fi feel are the name of a fancy restaurant (The Nebula Room) and Zenni's favorite cartoon, Captain Comet. The latter isn't actually an issue because Buck Rogers was a thing on Earth long before real space travel was common.
Sharp-eyed readers with knowledge of constellations might also recognize bits of a few place names that used to be on a star map (e.g Orion->Oriro Ocean, Pleiades->Pledaria, Bellatrix->Bexalit, Betelgeuse->Beticorra). I literally traced over a star map for the first version of the current Kavrillia map, then renamed, moved, deleted, and added places, then drew land masses over the top.
Here are a couple old maps showing the mixture of real stars/constellations and the ones I made up:
Circa 1996:
Circa 2000:
Quite a few place names have changed since then, as you can see from the current world map:
I no longer consider Kavrillia to be located in Taurus, or even in the same galaxy or universe as Earth, but it's fun to look back on what used to be.
At first I simply called my universe "Heritage." Then, around 2000, I thought I should have a more unique name, so I started calling it "Heritage in the Stars." After the overhaul of the setting to excise the sci-fi elements, I went back to calling it just "Heritage." In 2023 I settled on a new title: "The Heritage of Empire." If I ever publish, will I use that title? Probably. Maybe. We'll see.
(To be concluded in Part Four)

Is RT Nagar the right location for luxury living?
So many questions pass through our minds when we are on a house hunt. One of the top ones is whether a particular locality is perfect for a lifetime of luxury living.
How does a neighborhood score high on choice for a serious homebuyer? And in Bengaluru, why is RT Nagar rated high on the luxe living quotient? We explore these pertinent factors.
Steeped in elite history
RT Nagar is named after the illustrious litterateur Rabindranath Tagore. Not many know that Tagore visited Bengaluru thrice - in 1919, 1922, and 1928. During his three-week stay in June, his final and longest stay, Tagore penned Shesher Kobita and completed his novel Jogajog. RT Nagar residents must be chuffed to know that their neighborhood shares its name with this great gem of India.
With a celebrated freedom fighter and poet-writer being a significant part of RT Nagar, it’s only natural for the locality to boast of an elevated lifestyle for its privileged residents.
Small wonder that HM Constructions, https://www.hmconstructions.com/ Bengaluru’s leading developers chose to craft HM Tropical Tree https://www.hmconstructions.com/projects/details/hm-tropical-tree a towering luxury residential enclave within RT Nagar’s serene environs.
“Lifestyle upgrade remains the key motivation for buying property in 2023- 24, followed by capital appreciation. Interestingly, in a recent study, 12% of the wealthy picked real estate as a chosen asset class to create multi-generational wealth to pass on to their kin. What tops their decision-making process is the choice of location for their future home,” says Manjusrii Manilal, MRICS, and General Manager- Sales & Marketing, HM Constructions. “Add to this the perfect time like now to make that crucial decision when we’re at the cusp of a new year,” she adds.
Great connectivity
RT Nagar scores high on connectivity through improved road, bus, and rail transport accessibility. The neighborhood is superbly connected to a number of prominent localities of the city through the prime Bellary Road leading to the airport.
For frequent highfliers, the locality is only around 28 km away from the Kempegowda International Airport making it a sheer winner in terms of convenience.
So, you can well imagine how easily accessible the airport would be if you were to make your home in HM Tropical Tree, don’t you think? No more missing flights or having to leave for the airport hours in advance. Think about it!
High on social infra
What do you look for around your home first if you have kids or planning to have them? You got that right – the best of schools and colleges, no doubt. What if we told you that RT Nagar has the crème of educational institutions in its vicinity? The locality enjoys proximity to reputed schools and colleges with international institutions having sprawling campuses around RT Nagar.
With the emphasis on healthcare and wellness, it’s a good thing that prominent multispecialty healthcare facilities like Bangalore Baptist Hospital, Motherhood, Columbia Asia Hospital Hebbal, and Aster CMI Hospital are a stone’s throw away from RT Nagar.
For those looking for some retail therapy, RT Nagar is blessed with several popular shopping malls dotting the vicinity. Yes, Orion Mall, Elements Mall, Mantri Square Mall, and Orion East Mall are a close drive away.
Hub of IT
RT Nagar is the preferred address for those employed in the IT sector. Proximity to the iconic Manyata Tech Park that houses premier IT giants is what drives IT professionals into choosing to make a home in RT Nagar. Through the Outer Ring Road, RT Nagar is well connected to other IT parks campuses such as Cessna Business Park, Prestige Tech Park, Bagmane Tech Park, and Divyasree Technopolis, etc.
Tranquil and regal
Once you enter RT Nagar leaving the hubbub of traffic behind you, you’ll be surprised to notice that this prime locality still offers tranquil moments of bliss. Green tree-lined avenues leading to large family bungalows and of course, the richly landscaped gardens of HM Tropical Tree towering majestically over the historical neighborhood are those luxuries of life to be treasured.
HM Tropical Tree https://www.hmconstructions.com/projects/details/hm-tropical-tree offers its privileged residents the exclusive experience of living in the tallest residential tower gracing 21 floors above the ground level and crowned with a helipad, a symbol of elite transport. It’s no surprise then that there are only two premium luxury residences on each floor, not more, giving its distinguished homeowners all the privacy they crave for.
Awards and accolades
What’s more creditable is that HM Tropical Tree has won the prestigious Best Luxury Apartment national award twice – in 2015 conferred by CBD Bangalore and in 2019 by ET NOW Bangalore.
If RT Nagar is the pride of north Bengaluru, HM Tropical Tree is its crowning glory!

Thoughts on (the apparently rushed) DC solicits?
Yeah, apparently Diamond used to put them together and now it's just some guy in the DC offices, hence why they've been screwy since the changeover.
I Am Batman #1: "In the throes of Future State" just means those events coming about rather than this being set in the future, right? My impression is this is very much in the here-and-now, and I think this is gonna be really enjoyable with no more teasing out aspects of the premise and Coipel steadily on art. Killer title too. You're really gonna open this with the 'Anti-Oracle' though?
Batman #112-113: Glad to see Brandon Thomas but already miss the Ghostmaker backup.
Batman: Urban Legends #7: THE BOYS ARE BACK
Batman--Knightwatch: Bat-Tech Special Edition: I'm...not clear what this is?
Deathstroke Inc. #1: lol
Aquaman: The Becoming #1: shit I'm gonna like an Aquaman comic, and about a character who debuted on Young Justice no less, this sucks
Harley Quinn: The Animated Series: The Eat. Bang. Kill Tour #1: Zero interest but glad to see Max Sarin getting work.
Suicide Squad: King Shark #1: Ditto except replace Max Sarin with the Defacer.
Are You Afraid of Darkseid? #1: This one's a maybe.
Action Comics #1035: Excited for this, especially with the fairly long-teased 'event' arc with Janin starting in the next issue, but I can't help but laugh looking at that cover because it absolutely looks like Superman's doing a Brandon Routh to his poor family.
Batman '89 #2: Ah, so this and '78 are still miniseries, somehow missed that before.
Batman: Reptilian #4: The preview for the first issue was definitely not what I expected coming from Ennis's interview; I'm curious how he'll square apparently doing the "Punisher MAX but it's Batman" approach so many people will want with the comedy he inherently sees in the character and his world.
Batman: The Adventures Continue Season Two #4: I had thought I was probably out but dammit if you're bringing the Gray Ghost in you've got my attention.
Batman/Superman #22: This is ending to be relaunched to focus on Jace and Jon, right? Between it doing steadily sales-wise and the acclaim I can't fathom a reason to dump Yang the same month King Shark is getting a mini.
(My worst fear is that DC floated this as a test - put a dynamite creative team on their two biggest characters, but without any sense of 'importance', and see how much readers gravitate towards it relative to crap that's central to the sacred Continuity - and feels it got an answer.)
Hardware: Season One #2: Probably still getting this.
Infinite Frontier #6: Hate when I'm made the new de facto head of the DCU and people are so unenthused about the prospect of this that the solicit for the last issue of my event mini isn't even listed at the front among the 'big' books of the month, when the first issue hasn't even hit the stands yet.
Justice League #68: This is where Jon joins, right? Conceivably even Jace/Yara/Kaldur, though I think that full changeover will be the marker of the next 'proper' relaunch.
Justice League Infinity #3: Moraaaaa. The premise of 'what if the Justice League cartoon did all the cool stuff?' loses something when it isn't actually the cartoon anymore - we're already used to seeing the cool stuff in this format - but I'm not gonna turn down good Justice League comics.
Legends of the Dark Knight #5: Cool, I'll get this.
Mister Miracle: The Source of Freedom #5: Orion still looks like that?
Rorschach #12: Hurm.
RWBY/Justice League #6: I guess any plans to sell Rooster Teeth would be on hold what with the move from AT&T to Discovery, so hopefully the chances of a more character-driven sequel aren't 100% dashed.
Strange Adventures #12: So goddamn nervous until the very last moment it's gonna turn out to be "it was his wife all along!"
Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow #4: God, what a cover.
Superman '78 #2: Looking forward to seeing that Hitch variant, and Hackman's Luthor should be fun in this context.
Superman and The Authority #4: Right up to the end the solicits for this sound like an event lead-in mini circa 2007 or so except it's Grant Morrison so what is it really??? AND WHY NO QUITELY VARIANT
Superman: Son of Kal-El #3: I don't trust Taylor to do the ideal possible version of 'Jon Kent becomes a leftist in college' but the basic setup of this status quo is great and I think he'll do a fun version of it that's going to satisfy a lot of people.
The Batman & Scooby Doo Mysteries #6: That's MY Scooby-Doo, y'all!
A Nice House On The Lake #4: WHAT SECRET COULD BE MORE TERRIFYING THAN ANYTHING IN THAT FIRST ISSUE
Wonder Woman: Black and Gold #4: God, Lotay.
Batgirl of Burnside Omnibus: I get why this is a collection that basically had to happen but that's not a new cover by Stewart, is that? Somebody please tell me that's something repurposed and they didn't give him new work.

CALLIE HENDRICKS
age: 28.
gender & pronouns: cis female & she/her.
neighborhood: bighorn hills.
occupation: veterinarian at healthy tails.
fc: phoebe tonkin.
BIOGRAPHY
trigger warnings: medical, tumor, death, and miscarriage.
In Pasadena, Callie was brought into the world by Robin and Stella Hendricks. Her father was a renowned surgeon and her mother a hospital administrator, raising her alongside two siblings she was smack in the middle of. The siblings were close and the home was always a happy one despite the long hours each parent tended to work. Callie’s mother mostly made a set schedule so that she could be as present as possible in the upbringing of her children, denying her husband’s offer to hire help for her every single time he mentioned it. She didn’t believe in her children being raised by nannies nor did she want her children to become latchkey, which meant that she had to be passed up a few times when it came to promotions given that she needed to stick to a strict nine to five schedule. Stella wanted to be home every night to prepare dinner for her family and check on her children’s homework. The siblings couldn’t be any more different from each other; Callie’s older sister was very much the girly type that was a princess as a child and a popular cheerleader when she reached her teens, whereas her younger brother was adventurous and sporty. She, herself, was the nerdy type. Callie loved to read and had a knack for tech, she either had her nose in a book or was taking something apart and putting it back together often leaving things to run better once she was done messing with them. She was lucky in the fact that she received two great qualities from her parents, her organization from her mother and her precision from her father.
During her school years, Callie wasn’t the popular kid, she was either in the library or the science lab. But her lack of popularity wasn’t ever a problem for her, she was never a busy body like that and she was quite overshadowed by her siblings. Her older sister was very popular and her peers were generally nice to her for that reason, although it only made living in her older sister’s shadow that much more difficult. She was beautiful and had a figure enviable of every single girl in school, she had a charm about her that was effortless which only made her appearance that much more powerful and devastating. Callie would often look at herself in the mirror, stare at her boyish figure and wish to be a little something more, especially since it seemed to be what most people, especially in high school, seemed to put the most value into. Where Callie had no popularity when it came to dating opportunities she made up for when it came to her scholastic achievements. She was the girl that made honor roll every quarter, was in all AP classes as well as some classes she was taking advanced at the local college, and was in programs such as GATE.
Naturally she earned a few scholarships and chose to attend Providence Peak University and entered into the biology/zoology science program for her bachelor’s degree. Callie excelled immediately, most science and math courses by then were already second nature to her given her educational background and volunteer work that had already bloomed in her early teen years. Back in those days, before her life was consumed with coursework and internships at veterinary practices and rescue organizations that littered the valley, she made an independent living with a side hustle as a phlebotomist. Callie had taken then required course at the local community college and completed her required lab hours before she could be licensed and had used that skill as a step in for internships and also when she completed the next step in becoming a vet tech. She did so well that she passed her undergraduate with honors and was already onto her graduate and veterinary school when the call came from her family about what had been found in her mother’s regular health check-up at the doctor. It was frightening news learning that her mother had a brain tumor and was in need of surgery, but by then Callie also had support in the life she’d built around her in Providence Peak. During her senior year of university, she met Orion Williams, they were in the same course and his family owned the Wild Wolf Rescue, a place she’d always wanted to volunteer and/or work with yet hadn’t. The demands of her new job post bachelor’s degree was difficult to keep up with when also trying to balance out the remainder of her university education and knowing her mother wasn’t doing well back home.
Somewhere along the way Callie moved in with Orion and they began building a life together. He was everything she had ever dreamed of in a partner and pinched herself sometimes to make sure it was all real and she wasn’t dreaming. Especially with how supportive he was of her trying to do it all. Even though Callie was far away from her older sister there was a part of her that always overcompensated and was in competition. It was something they eventually put to rest when she made the tough decision to go back home to Pasadena and take care of her mother. Stella had put off surgery for long enough that she had begun to have motor function issues, and her siblings weren’t able to upend their lives as easily as Callie was. Not that sitting down with Rion and saying she had to leave Providence Peak and their home was easy, he just somehow made it that way. Wanting to keep their relationship steady despite the distance that would be between them. Post surgery she took care of her mother on a daily basis and balanced veterinary school demands, another thing Rion seemed to ease in all the stress she endured through that time. They exchanged texts, calls, FaceTimed as often as possible and kept to their plan of visiting each other once a month to keep as close to each other as the distance allowed.
It went on like that for years and Callie eventually fell into a rhythm with it all, but for a while it seemed as though hardship was going to take hold. Stella passed away, losing the battle with the tumors that infiltrated her brain, and shortly after Callie had a miscarriage. One loss after the other absolutely devastated her, but the baby maybe hurt a little more. It was a glimmer of light amidst enduring grey skies that had colored the last few years for her. She felt guilty, as though she’d done something wrong, despite the doctor telling her it was likely due to the amount of stress she’d been under. That her body simply couldn’t handle it all. Furthermore, having to share the loss with Rion was harder than Callie could have anticipated. Her guilt doubled when she looked at him, her pain seemed insurmountable when she realized how much she had failed at everything, but they eventually made it through by doing what they do best: sticking together and supporting one another. The loss is a wound Callie isn’t sure will ever fully heal, it simply got to a point where it’s not constantly bleeding. She found herself able to carry on and once she made peace with her mother’s death and helped her father pack up the family home, Callie looked to returning to what had become her home. Orion in Providence Peak. By then she’d finished her veterinarian school and was licensed, she accepted an offer to work at Healthy Tails and was far too eager to move back in with Orion. Soon after finding herself with a ring on her finger and herself engaged to her first and only love.

3 and 10 for all of them 😌
Aall of them it is
3) What do they do for a living? Is it their dream job? If not, what is?
Haider: got hired right out of culinary school into a couple of celebrity restaurants- after which he quit and started his own- though the space is deceptively humble, Zainaba’s garners rave reviews not only for the variety and excellence of its cuisine and the gorgeousness of the ambience, but also for the hotness of the chef-owner.
Nurlan used to run a teashop with her wife, which she sold after Aida died and now she focuses solely on her career in theatre as an actress- when she’s not doing shows and rehearsals, she’s going around doing incredibly fun workshops for schoolkids and coordinating with her old theatre club in college.
Zurkhi is a beat journalist who covers and documents active protest movements he believes in from different parts of the world- he links up with his activist and artist friends to produce music/documentaries, and has a pretty strong social media presence among the leftist circles. His job doesn’t exactly pay as much as provides him a network that supports, and sometimes what he does comes at dear costs, but he’s not really going to stop.
Balam’s working on her PhD in Cultural Studies, sporadically freelances as a professional translator, and works summers under the Mayoral office where Nadia’s putting together a fairly ambitious comprehensive city history project. She wants to be a Professor and run for Mayor herself, someday.
Sybilla’s a tech girl, and is something of a big name in the ethical hacking field (look the “ethical” side of it has come under Doubt.) Currently she works at a niche, but highly respected-in-the-industry tech magazine, and pirates the shit out of everything for whoever wants it
Kadambari is a professional flutist and veena artist, but she’s currently slowed down her schedule to work on a Performing Arts degree in Bharatanatyam.
Shaan does sitar accompaniments for a bunch of prominent Hindustani singers, and has an up-and-coming career in singing himself. When he’s not doing gigs, he’s working on his first album.
Sanzhar is an architect by profession. Between projects, also occasionally volunteers at an ngo that works for the conservation of sites of cultural importance in Central Asia.
Aarcha is a criminal defense lawyer and a strong advocate online for prison reform- to put it mildly, though what she’s really hoping for is a comprehensive overhaul of the penal system, and she really wants to take a PhD.
Orion is a Professor and the Head of the Department of Biochemistry in his University- he never puts his work behind a paywall, loves getting emails from literally anyone interested, and has a Youtube channel where he breaks down the basics of his field- which has gained even more traction after Nurlan fixed his atrocious camera angle for him.
Khanum is training to be a disaster management specialist; So far, her work was mostly on site when the unfortunate need arises, but someday she wants to be a proper Expert, to oversee preparedness and co-ordination and so on.
10) Can they drive? Are they good at it?
Can drive, is good at it: Haider, Khanum, Orion, Aarcha, Shaan, Zurkhi, Nurlan
Can drive, is Bad at it: Sybilla (she’s not bad but her road rage is vicious), Sanzhar (he gets way too nervous and panicky)
Can’t Drive, Won’t Drive: Balam (is a public transport kinda person), Kadambari (don’t ask her she’ll cry)
