All eyes were on the great Percy Jackson.

Yours were, too, don’t be fooled. You had always found him impossible to look away from. But it wasn’t admiration you were studying him with as tales of his quests were told and retold and embellished around the bonfire. Quests you had been on, each and every time.

No, you were watching him with concern.

Because the son of the sea was drowning in all the attention.

It was almost painful for you to watch, but you couldn't look away.

A beautiful train wreck, you supposed, studying Percy's uncomfortable but obliging conversation with one of the newer sons of Ares who hadn't been around for Kronos or Gaea and simply thought fighting in those wars had been fun.

But people had died. Your people, your friends. It was war, and it was painful, and even though you were the daughter of the war goddess, you hated it with every inch of your being.

No amount of planning on your behalf could have saved Beckendorf. There was no stopping Leo from sacrificing himself.

"That's called being a demigod," Percy had told you one day, offhanded, sometime between nearly dying in a volcanic explosion and being stolen from her by Hera.

"That doesn't mean we have to stand idly by and accept it," You had countered, frowning, and Percy must have realized he'd said something that had upset you, because he had pulled you into a hug and muttered an apology you still hadn't worked out was necessary or not.

But what you did know was that he was your best friend, that you had been in love with him since you were both fourteen, and he absolutely did not want to talk about all his past glories like a good little Greek hero.

Seated on a front-row bench with Grover on on side and an assortment of other campers you knew he wasn't close with surrounding him, you knew you had to run a rescue mission.

Especially since Grover was too distracted by eating his marshmallow roasting stick to realize how tense Percy was as the Ares kid went on and on.

"Perce, there you are." You wedged yourself into the not-entirely open spot next to your best friend, smile on your lips and a sly look in your eyes. Percy's own widened in sight relief, his arm wrapping loosely around your shoulders in a casual movement that was entirely too familiar. "Thought you ran off on me."

"Never," He sighed, some of his tension already dissipating. You grinned a little unevenly at him, not wanting to give the others watching any clues that the great Percy Jackson wasn't completely and utterly alright.

"Good," You bumped him with your shoulder, and he squeezed his arm around you for just a brief moment, tugging you close to his side. You had to turn and face the young Ares boy to keep yourself focused. "How are your archery lessons coming?"

The new camper looked slightly put out about the change in conversation, but you pinned your stare on him and didn't back down. For a moment, you thought he would continue to pester Percy with questions about fighting in two wars, even with you sending up very clear signals that neither of you were interested.

But the boy made the right choice, launching into a rant about how long range combat was not his strength.

Halfway through the story about almost shooting Connor Stoll's foot, you felt Percy lean towards you, his breath warm against the shell of your ear as he dropped his voice to a whisper, meant only for you.

"Thank you,"

Since you had taken half a seat, your body was pressed firmly against his from your ankles to your shoulders. His touch warmed your skin like a sunny day on the beach, and you weren't sure if it was a son of Poseidon thing or a Percy Jackson thing.

So instead of answering him, you set one of your hands on his leg, just above his knee, and squeezed.

The moon was shining over camp when you gave up on finding sleep and decided to sneak out.

You’d been around long enough to know just how to sweet talk Mr. D into letting you be out past curfew, and Chiron had a soft spot for you, since you helped save the world. Twice. It was the harpies catching you that you were afraid of.

Travis Stoll had almost learned the hard way that Mr. D was not kidding about them eating campers.

But children of Athena had passed on the secret to sneaking out through generations, and you were exploiting that very information for a midnight trip to the lake to stargaze there when you spotted movement on the roof of Cabin Three.

Really, you weren't in control of your own actions as you turned swiftly to change course. Maybe it was Tyche with her luck or Aphrodite with her meddling in the affairs of the heart that had you scaling the side of Poseidon's cabin, a path you had taken more than once.

Or maybe, for once, you couldn't blame the gods. Maybe you were the only one making the choices that had you settling on your back beside Percy on the slanted cabin roof.

He hadn't seemed all too surprised to see you, but all he offered in way of greeting was a nod before he returned to studying the sky above.

You only let the silence last for three minutes, a gnawing feeling in the pits of your stomach unable to let it be.

"Do you want to talk about it?" You asked, voiced simultaneously quiet and startlingly loud in the otherwise silent night. With your head turned to watch his side profile, you watched him tumble from his thoughts and back onto that rooftop, with you.

"What?" He was playing coy, you knew him well enough. What you didn't understand was why he was holding back with you, of all people. You, who had been there with him from the night Grover dragged him over Half-Blood Hill. Who had followed him and Grover and Annabeth across the country to save his mom, who fought Luke and Kronos with him, and mourned the loss of so many friends.

You, who hadn't slept for six months when he disappeared, only to find him in New Rome with the claim that he had forgotten everyone and everything but you.

His tether to his life. His best friend. His something more.

"About whatever is bothering you so much tonight." You shot him a flat look, but his was still doing a good job at avoiding your eye. Frowning, you nudged him with your elbow. "I saw you at the bonfire, Perce. Something is eating at you."

For a moment, it was silent. And then Percy drew in a deep breath, like he was readying himself for something, but he still hadn't looked at you.

"I guess I’ve just been thinking about just… everything." He sighed, but you could hear the apprehension and exhaustion in his voice. He was still keeping things back, but you couldn't understand why. And that killed you, as a child of Athena. "I've been fighting since I—we—were twelve. It's too..."

"Too what?" You prompted when he trailed off, his voice dying in the warm night air. Your hand brushed against his on the rooftop between your bodies, and you considered the risks of just grabbing his hand and squeezing to offer comfort while he sorted through his thoughts.

"Forget it." He shook his head, and your heart sunk. "You don’t want to hear me complain."

You frowned, twisting to face the sky and wracking your Athena blessed mind for some way to prove to him that you did, in fact, want to hear it. You wanted to hear anything, ever, that he had to say.

But when words failed you, actions didn’t, and you finally stopped pretending to accidentally brush your pinky against his and just wrapped your hand around his.

You both stayed like that for a while, quiet and thinking, until you turned your head to face him, unsurprised to find a stormy look on his face while he still studied the stars. Maybe he was thinking of Zoë, of all the others the two of you had lost over the years.

But you were thinking about him, only.

"I’ve been fighting with you since you came to camp," Your words were quiet, little more than a summer’s breeze brushing across Percy’s skin, but you knew he heard you. "But maybe now we’re not fighting monsters anymore. Maybe we’re fighting the memories and scars they left behind. But I’m still fighting with you, Percy."

He turned his head, then, his eyes finding yours like they were always meant to. And, deep down, part of you knew they were.

Every shared glance during combat, or after a stupid joke, or when a battle ended and all either of you could do was search the carnage for a hint of the other—those eyes had found you.

"I’m just so scared I’ll never get to live my life.” Percy confessed, voice hauntingly hollow. You squeezed his hand, and he squeezed back like a lifeline. “I don’t know if I’m running away from what’s already happened or into the next big mess. And what if next time… what if…"

He trailed off, eyes wide in panic, a bit of desperation. You squeezed his hand again, because you couldn’t give him the words. He needed to find them himself.

Percy screwed his eyes shut and darted forward, slotting his mouth over yours in an unexpected, horribly angled kiss. Teeth clashed together, your bottom lip caught in the mayhem and you gasped at the slight bite of pain.

He jumped back like you had burned him, propped up on one arm as he leaned on his side next to you.

"I, shit, I shouldn’t have—" He fumbled for words, already trying to shuffle further away from you, but you held tight onto his hand to keep him close, sitting up to follow him. "Please, let’s just forget about this, okay? I just, I got caught up in everything and—"

"Tell me you didn’t want to kiss me, then." You promoted, brows knitted together as you studied his face, desperate for a glimpse of how he was feeling revealed to you in the moonlight. "Because if you can’t say it meant nothing to you, you need to tell me, right now."

"I… can’t say it."

And just like that, you were the one kissing him, one hand curving around the back of his neck to keep him close while the other remained threaded through his fingers. His free hand reached up to cup your cheek, thumb brushing against your skin as if he needed confirmation that this was real, that you were real.

When you finally pulled apart to breathe, you didn’t go far. Not from him. Never from him.

"I was worried next time I wouldn’t get the chance to do that." Percy finished his thought from before, a little dazed from the kiss you both had been long awaiting, apparently. You smiled softly and closed your eyes, pressing your forehead against his.

"If you’re running towards the next prophecy, I’ll run with you." You promised, pausing only briefly to shift your position so you and Percy were laying on the roof again, only this time your head was propped on his chest and his arm was wrapped securely around you. "But if you want to sit up here and talk about the monsters you’re running from, I’ll do that, too."

"Thank you." He echoed his words from the earlier bonfire. And you could tell from his voice that he really was thankful. Because as tough as he was, Percy Jackson was still half mortal. "I…" He started, the air thick with tension about what he was going to confess. "I keep having dreams about Tartarus."

You let him talk, devoting your attention and mind to him, tracing shapes and stars and waves against his chest by your head while he spoke.

Time moved quickly that way, with talk of his fears and what weighed heavily on his mind broken up only when his throat would clog with emotion and you would tilt your head up to kiss away the memory long enough for him to regain his composure.

Because no one knew him better than you, and he didn't have to be the great Percy Jackson with you.

He could just be Percy, the boy who was haunted by his past and terrified of his future.

And you would give him all of your peaceful nights for him to have only one.

All of us need to do better

y'all... this is hitting another bad streak. I'm seeing multiple friends/moots/other accounts either disappear from fandom/writing silently, or making posts about how they're either leaving, taking an indefinite hiatus or want nothing to do with writing anymore.

And I *completely* get where they're coming from. (and am losing motivation to write/post every single day).

interaction on posts is WAY down. and I don't mean notes. I mean reblogs and comments/a conversation going in the ask box and even requests. (which can happen ON ANON).

i get messages asking when the next ____ (insert character here) fic is and I have nothing for them because no one's sending in req's anymore either.

I have MULTIPLE people who have signed up for taglists (and recently and I know they're active blogs) who then don't interact with the fics theyve ASKED to be tagged in. You're literally holding a spot someone else might want, the very LEAST you could do would be to reblog things. (and i've seen their blogs, some of them don't reblog ANY other fics, they only have their own posted). this is just bad manners.

If you're a newer blog, let me let ya in on something.... reblogging and commenting and engaging with other people's fics is the easiest way to make friends on here, to become part of discord servers dedicated to fandoms where you can discuss headcanons, watch eps together, and spitball for your own fics and theirs.

it takes 2 seconds to reblog, and if you don't want to ruin the aesthetic of your blog, or don't want people to know it's you reading and enjoying fanfic, it takes 5 mins to make a secondary blog to do exactly that on.

ETA: i also see people complaining in the show tags that “no one writes for ______” anymore. Meanwhile they clearly havent done a good job searching as they havent seen my blog or any of the ones i reccommend.

anyways, i could go on forever. i guess i just woke up in a very lacking mood and wanted to get this off my chest because it's been bothering me a lot recently. Decadent Desires is almost wrapped and I have no motivation to even CHOOSE which series to start next because it seems like most of you do not care AT ALL. I find fandom culture on tiktok so fascinating.

Because it generally skews so young as a platform, some of the opinions remind me of things I said when I was 15/16 and just getting started in fandom spaces, but it somehow comes off as more aggressive on tiktok, maybe because people have their faces attached and are truly saying things with their whole chests.

With 911 specifically, and with Buck coming out at queer, it’s baffling the way people are so…pissed about it? A lot of this comes down to ship wars (which I am..painfully familiar with), but there are multiple larger creators who are actively saying that anyone who ships Buck and Tommy are just fetishizing m/m queer relationships (I wish people could unlearn the word “fetishization”), that anything other than Buck/Eddie is queerbaiting and not acceptable.

Firstly, clearly these people didn’t live through episodes 18-20 of season 15 of Supernatural and the aftermath of it, but queer rep is a good thing! Especially when it’s been brought about with such joy and care. Wanting Buck to be happy and seeing how happy he is with Tommy, it’s hard to believe people don’t like it.

And then those same people that are upset that fic writers have headcanons that Tommy is older and claiming it’s “predatory” (Buck is in his 30s, please touch grass I’m begging you), are saying that Tommy is a bad person who has been terrible to Buck (specifically referencing him telling Buck he wasn’t ready after they ran into Eddie at dinner) which just isn’t true at all.

I think a lot of this stems from not wanting any queer ship other than their favorite, which is stupid, but I think it generally comes from being newer to fandom and the kind of platform tiktok is as a whole.

It’s genuinely insane to me that people are watching Buck’s obvious joy at being with Tommy and saying “Tommy’s a bad guy” or “he’s mean to Buck and taking advantage of him” or my favorite “anyone who likes Buck and Tommy together just wants to see two hot guys kiss and doesn’t care about the rep” (which…why not both???)

I’m very glad that the majority of my fandom life is on tumblr, especially when the people I follow are so excited to celebrate Buck’s queer journey, instead of complaining that it wasn’t with the “right person”

Being a Sonamy fan is hard (and just being an Amy Rose fan in general)

*quick note, I have only seen a few leaks regarding Sonic X Shadow Generations so take this post with a grain of salt and please add in some stuff about the game that I should be aware of because I have a feeling that this post might be incorrect about a lot of things*

Being in love with Sonic isn't Amy's only trait. She is something more. She's a baker, a tarot card user, she's got a strong heart of gold, and is just a passionate and cheerful cute little weird girl.

As a Sonamy fan, these "changes" are nothing special or big, it's still just Amy being Amy, but this time more than just wanting to be with Sonic. I am aware of that one edit where Amy was trying to give Sonic cupcakes. It's really cute, but it's not the same without the hand over her face. Am I complaining? Yes, and no, it's hard to describe. (I don't have the image with me atm but in the future I'll edited in on this post)

I'm not complaining because we are seeing Amy just doing more than just, loving over Sonic. She still is in that cutscene, and most of the game as far as I'm concerned (I haven't seen all of the leaks), but in a more calmer fashion.

But at the same time, I am complaining because, and I highly doubt SEGA is doing this, at least on purpose, but Amy's crush on Sonic feels like is getting buried in a way.

I kind of worry that a newer generation of Sonic fans will never find out about Amy's crush for Sonic, or just how wonderful their dynamic in general is if this keeps going on.

I know it won't, but still, we haven't been seeing that a lot. But at least if you want to introduce new fans Sonic and Amy's dynamic, platonically or romantically, make sure to not bring up Heroes or a couple of X episodes please LMAO

(But that one episode where Amy and Sam talk about her relationship with Sonic, yeah, bring that one up. OH. and the last episode of Season 2, don't forget about that one.)

Look, we're all high on Son/adow right now, and it feels good, but what about Sonamy? Sonamy and Son/adow have a lot in common and are both really good with angst potential and lots of great character interactions. At least in my opinion anyway. (Topic for another day, if I'm brave enough)

I love them both equally, so I want to see an equal amount of hedgehog dorks being together. Or better yet, Sonamyshad. 😎

But I'm getting slight off-topic...

I don't want Amy's crush to be forgotten. You don't even have to like Sonamy to understand why and how Amy's feelings for him is actually really important for her character. (Again, topic for another day)

I mean, of course, some reasons as of why relate to my personal headcanons, but there are other good in-canon reasons, too!

Hell, even Sonic and Amy's friendship is just as important. They don't have to be a couple, but that doesn't mean we have to pretend that Amy never fell in love with the hedgehog who saved her life in more ways than one.

I also don't want how much Sonic and Amy's relationship improved throughout the years to be forgotten, either. This is why I'd rather have the shot of Sonic's covering her face with his hand, because he wouldn't do this today, and that's the point of all this...

They both started off as goofy, little kids, one wanting to share her love like wildfire, and the other always running off, not understanding the concept of love, and, of course, not loving her back.

Amy was much more loud and expressive about her love, and Sonic, while he knows there is good in Amy, does not want to be part of a relationship, and doesn't know how to talk things out about it, even with Amy not taking "no" for an answer. The solution? Just run away lol

Yeah, there are times where he called her a "pain" and thought of her as "annoying," but those times he was either in a hurry, or in a bad mood. Remember: They were both younger at the time, so it's in-character for Sonic at that age.

Sonic and Amy don't have a lot of moments where they're just, together. And not just for a "date." Sonic doesn't know a lot about Amy other than her love for him. ...Okay, some things he does know, but not a lot.

Their relationship was beginning to shift after the events of Lost World and especially after Forces, which I would explain, but I'm gonna put a link here because I don't want this post to be too long.

But if you have read it, then the next couple of texts would have some context lol

Anyways, after all that, Sonic and Amy's relationship was a lot different now. Amy was more calm but still cheerful, just not showing a lot of her love for Sonic because she's fully aware that none of that is important, and Sonic was more gentle around her because he wanted to be better than how he acted towards her for a while.

They both just want to hang out and start over as proper friends, but eventually, Sonic would find out what Amy was going through mentally, and how long she kept this from him.

Perhaps after that, Sonic wouldn't mind being closer to Amy, but he still has a world to look after. But hey, maybe slowing down and letting Amy catch up with him won't be so bad. Besides, he's finally seeing her happy with just him for the first time in a while, and he never realized just how much he missed it until now.

Buuuuut, those are just my headcanons, like I mentioned earlier. We all have our reasons why we love or dislike a ship (as long as it's not gross), and I have my own.

These two, just like son/adow, hold a special place in my heart because of what I went through myself, and how much they both have grown, and I truly hope that their relationship and friendship won't be forgotten.

I know it won't happen, but I still have that feeling... Probably because no body cares about their dynamic as much anymore.

Because of the past and people misinterpreting the ship, and Amy's character as a whole, the fandom seemed to care less about it. I mean, I don't blame them, but... it's still pretty messed up.

It's fine if you don't like sonamy, but I really hope you dislike it for a genuine reason, and not just because of some fans getting some things, or worse, everything about Amy and/or the ship wrong.

Amy's character arcs through the games, and her and Sonic's dynamic through the years have been overlooked as far as I'm concerned. Not like heavily overlooked, it's just that it's been a while since I've seen people give a damn about Amy Rose, especially SEGA.

I know we got The Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog, but I feel like that's not enough.

What's going on with Sonic X Shadow Generations is pretty strange, but first of all, it's not Ian's fault god dammit, and second, I don't see it as a big deal. I haven't seen most of the leaks, but as far as I'm concerned, it's not that bad.

(But I have heard about that one cutscene with Knuckles and Classic Sonic and I couldn't help but laugh my ass off over it XD)

But with how the game is handling Amy, please be aware that this isn't the first time this happened, and it's not even that bad either. I mean, yeah I did mention how I'm worried about it, but I was over it once, I'll get over it again lol

There have been discussions about this since the Fast Friends Forever bio thing that happened last year, and I'm getting kind of tired of the arguments by now.

Amy stopped chasing Sonic not because she doesn't love him anymore, but because she doesn't need too. She is part of the team and has been closer with Sonic for a long time now. She doesn't need to follow them around when she already have proven herself to be useful and a fighter.

I'm really happy Amy is being recognized as something more than having a crush on Sonic, but having a crush is the heart of Amy's character.

Looking up to Sonic and wanting to be like him is what made Amy Rose... well, Amy Rose. She pushed herself and fought hard to be the person she wanted to be, and it's all thanks to Sonic.

He inspired a lot of people around him, especially Amy, so it's no wonder why she loves him so much. Plus, her tarot cards told her that he would be the love of her life, but I feel like even if the cards are wrong (not saying they are lol), she still loves him.

I want Amy's feelings for Sonic, and their friendship and their potential relationship to be remembered for a long time. I don't want them to be pushed to the side forever.

I don't want people to believe that her crush is her only trait, even though it's so important to her character.

I don't want Amy to change too much. Friends or not, I don't want her to give up on Sonic entirely.

I don't want this fandom to forget about Amy Rose.

Most of the headcanons I've seen about Adamsapple in Eden were portraying them having a good relationship, like Lucifer being sweet and kind to Adam, overly interested in him, liking him etc. while Adam being way more innocent back then and of course very curious. While I like the idea of them being in love even back then and having this cute relationship between them, I also like to play with the thought that Lucifer didn't always like Adam (and vice versa). What I mean is, Lilith and Adam never really got along well, they had their constant conflicts and such, mainly rooting from their different personalities, as in I imagine Adam being this kinda obnoxious person who's full of himself, stubborn and doesn't like when things don't go as he wants (not exactly in a toxic way, like I don't think of him as an actual bad person, rather like a big child lol). While I see Lilith as a way more mature and collected person who's had enough of Adam's "childish bullshit". (I know it sounds kinda stereotypical but my goal isn't that lol I can just genuinely see it, also canon!Adam is a walking stereotype so it's hard to ignore it haha)

So, assuming that both of them were created at the same time, when Lucifer started visiting the garden he warmed up to Lilith first, they started spending time together. Lilith regularly complained about Adam, how he acted so childish/talked too much about insignificant things/followed her etc. (again, I don't think she was cruel, she was literally the first woman, had so much to learn and expressed how she couldn't get along with Adam). Lucifer listening to her all the time, and also being fond of her, involuntarily started to develop doubtful feelings about Adam. Of course Lucifer was sweet and kind, he didn't hate the man, but all of Lilith's talk had an effect on him, and Adam's behavior when they interacted just deepened it further (although Lucifer himself didn't exactly find him annoying, Lilith's talk just caused him to focus on Adam's "problematic" behavior more and he subconsciously confirmed Lilith's words).

Meanwhile Adam obviously noticed that Lucifer was spending way more time with Lilith and didn't seem to feel too pleasant about him, he was kinda offended about that and started to dislike Lucifer.

However, I can imagine them interacting at one point, cause like, Adam obviously felt bad about feeling excluded and that neither of them liked him, so once when it was just the two of them with Luci, he kinda snapped and confronted him about it. (I can't really imagine him as a person who keeps it in, I rather see it as he was offended which led to him becoming frustrated and telling it straight into Lucifer's face angrily.) So he told him that he doesn't understand why they both dislike him but it's not fair and he's so much better than them anyway yada yada but it was clear that he was upset and hurt. That would be the point when Lucifer realizes the situation and it would become a turning point in their relationship??

I'll be the first person to admit that my characterization of their Eden personas is allllll over the fucking place. My apologies, I try to be better 😂 but I agree with you almost a 100%

I love depicting them as friends in Eden, but if I had to be realistic? In canon he probably didn't care much for him LOL or at least not as much as the fandom likes to believe. I also want to see more of this scenario with an adamsapple endgame, I'd like to do it myself, but to be truthful I wouldn't really be sure how to do it.

I like to think of Eden!Adam as, yes, more innocent, but he was still a bit of a shit, sarcastic and sassy (not an outright asshole, but his personality had a bit of a spice to it ya know?) I try to let this part of him show as much as I can in my newer depictions of Eden, but well I'm not sure if I've succeeded lol

I think that, if he's a brat now, he'd be even MORE SO in Eden. Basically, exactly what you said that he'd be obnoxious, full of himself and childish, just more out of a place of immaturity rather than malice.

I also really like this characterization of early Lilith. Yes, I absolutely see her as more mature and independent, more thoughtful and observant than Adam ever was, and of course those personalities clashed.

I absolutely love the idea of Lilith planting seeds of doubt in other people. In fact, that's a personal theory I have about the current Lilith and why Charlie's and Lucifer's relationship is so stranded. I think there must have been a lot of miscommunication and Lilith, whether on purpose or not, fed a lot of ideas about Lucifer to Charlie. She isolated her and fed her ideas about who her father was and what he thought of her, creating this wall between them that is now only starting to crumble down. So, the idea of her doing the same thing between Adam and Lucifer? Fuck yes. I want Lilith to be a manipulative bitch, whether she's doing that with malice or not LOL.

Adam immediately going head first into confrontation sounds very likely to me too! I'd absolutely agree, except I don't think this would make Lucifer actually realize the situation. Depending on how bad the argument was, I could see Lucifer thinking that oh Adam really is just that toxic or whatever other misunderstanding comes up. Now I love Danny Phantom, even though I haven’t had the pleasure to watch even a 1/4 of the show. But I love crossovers, and DPxDCxMLB is one of my favorites honestly, but there isn’t a lot.

This is more about lore stuff and is my personal brain worm of figuring out how to fill in a plot hole in Miraculous via crossovers.

So in Miraculous apparently a Wizard somehow learned about the Kwami. Now how could an alive mortal know of these beings? Now we could say they used magic, but let's go a more fun route!

This “Wizard” was actually a Ghost King, because from what I’ve gathered there have been multiple unless I’ve been lied to through headcanons. (I promise I’m getting to doing proper research on Danny Phantom, kinda got a list) Also, I don't recall most of what was actually said about this “Wizard” in the cannon.

This Ghost King could have been one of the kind or kinder ones, or just another selfish ghost craving for more power.

The “Kinder” Ghost King was friends with the Kwami hearing his friends complain or weep over not being able to truly interact with the creatures in one realm or another. Only tipping a few scales here or there, leading them somewhere else, among other things(Like Plagg committing genocide on the Dinasours or however cannon went…). The Kwami could only do so much in their current state, as they didn't have ties to the physical level/plane. So the Ghost King gave them options, for them to be tied to an object that could be handled by the creatures of the realms.

(Maybe they were acquaintances, or the Kwami came to the Ghost King for help to be on the physical plane of these other Realms? There are so many ways this can go)

The Kwami got to choose the realm(or Universe if you want to refer to it as that) that they could reside in.

It may even be the duty of the Ghost King to tie new Kwami to items and send them to their Realm, or to enact it when a Kwami would wish to join the world that their brethren now are in.

Now if you want to go the Selfish-Power-Hungry route, the “Selfish” Ghost King saw the potential in the Kwami and wanted to use it for himself. So to abuse their power the Kwami were tied to their objects, the “Selfish” Ghost King would be overthrown(the Ancients might have played a part if I'm remember who those are correctly), and the Miraculi would somehow end up their eventual Realm/Universe.

Or another one I came up with, the Ghost King of that time was a wizard in their part life! Or it could have just been a super powerful ghost, but the GK route is funner…

So imagine Kwami haven’t gone to a Ghost King in so long cause they’re wary, but these newer or older ones (older ones probably just didn’t want to join the physical plane) have heard of Danny even before he was crowned or was to be crowned. So they take a chance to ask for him to tie them to the physical plane of the realm their fellow Kwami reside in.

So chaos ensues on Earth as magic users, Guardians, and Amazonians alike feel the arrival of the new Miraculi for the first time in hundreds of years.

I strongly disagree with the take "new posts are cringe and low effort". Brother (gender neutral), trust me, you shaming them is so embarrassing. Let people enjoy what they want to enjoy. You're not held down by chains with your eyes forcefully open to look at those posts. Just scroll past or block accounts you don't like. Instead of being joyful about new people joining in, you chose to be bitter about what they post. We were all at that age. Stop picking on younger teens. Hell, it isn't about age. Every post, as long as it is not harmful, is valid and as long as its author enjoys it and enjoys sharing, don't stomp on it. That way, we'll get less and less posts. However, what I want to draw attention to (now speaking to everyone), is the remark about fanartists. I know some that left or stopped actively creating for the reason that they felt not appreciated. It goes deeper than that. In the world built on capitalism and consumerism, amateur artists (who are also human beings who seek assurance and positive encouraging feedback) and who come to fandom to share their free artwork for fun and for interaction that gives them motivation to go on, are not some machines that come automatically giving content. Consuming their art and using it without even interacting, especially in this small fandom, can feel draining and this is not what the fanartists came here to do. If you look at it through their eyes, would you continue to do art if you felt it hasn't found its audience or if the audience felt passive about it? You do not have to like some art work. I get it, we all have our own taste. But if you do not support artists, especially beginning ones, it's really easy to lose the motivation. And you're robbing yourself. Imagine some artist who would have become great and eventually posted the art you like, is not sharing their art because they didn't feel motivated.

In conclusion. OP of the prev fandom take, I definitely do not agree with your opinion on ra tag and posts. I also don't like the tone in which you wrote your whole ask. But, everyone, I do believe there's a tiny thing that's worth giving a thought in the part about fanart.

All I see lately is people complaining there aren't good posts or that fandom is dying. Babes, if you're not gonna interact with things, either posts or art or fics or whatever, of course the activity is gonna die down. But also I do think that on the other hand, people who say stuff like "we don't have content anymore are the ones who purposefully ignore posts of the newer blogs just because it isn't entirely their taste and then say this fandom is desolated wasteland about to be hit by dinosaur killing meteorite. Valid, you don't have to reblog stuff that you don't want to. But then stop complaining about that fact there isn't stuff and either shut up and move on or contribute yourself.

Pessimism and toxicity isn't what this fandom needs and to be real I am tired of these fandom takes that what is actually bringing this fandom down. if i may ask, i am v curious when the party got their cars/how long theyve had them

ella i hope you don't hate me from harboring this ask since the end of august bc i really did mean to answer it sooner. i love u mwah.

mike: some of the lore surrounding the mustang has now been revealed through chapter 9.1, but to reiterate for the purpose of this ask: mike really wanted to get a car with manual transmission, and wanted something used so it could be a purchase he made himself. he did a lot of research online and in person before finding the mustang, which he did think was a little gaudy, but to me he's also a pretty big car buff and likes a lot of classic models -- no matter anyone's feelings on mustangs as a whole, it is a very iconic car with a lot of history, so mike definitely appreciates that a lot. he had nancy co-sign but he paid for everything himself! as of acswy, he's had it for just over a year!

will: will's car is also used, and also something he (mostly) paid for by himself! originally he was going to inherit jonathan's car but like in the show, it died. rip. but hopper Knows A Guy who works on and then sells a lot of used cars and that's who they ended up buying will's car from. he got it when he turned 17 for around ~$2500 since hop's friend cut them a deal, and he paid for Most of that himself (using money he's saved up from camp and the part-time job he had during the school year when he was in hs) and hop and joyce covered the rest. that said, will does pay them back on a monthly basis and pays for his own gas and insurance, so to him they didn't help at all (even tho they helped more than mike's parents did lol). by the start of acswy, he's paid his parents back in full and now just worries about the insurance payments.

lucas: lucas's parents and smart and invest and told their beautiful talented son that if he worked hard and got good grades they would buy him a car for graduation. so he did. and then also got a full ride scholarship to uconn to play basketball and his parents said oh ok slay boy. thanks so much. so since they are saving on a LOOOT of tuition and room and board fees they said we will get you a nice car. and lucas said bet, hellcat? and his mom said ABSOLUTELY NOT and his dad said ABSOLUTELY. mike was fuming btw. if you care.

max: tbh we haven't so super fleshed out a lot of max's family lore so i'd have to consult w suni re: current arrangements BUT 2 me max shares her car w her mom. i think her mom works from home and when she needs to go somewhere uses max's step dad's car just so that max can have some extra freedom. it's also my headcanon that max is the oldest in the friend group so she got her license first and was will and el's designated chauffeur for a while <3

el: el Just got her car and license before the start of acswy! i think she's the youngest in the party and she had will and max to drive her places so there was truly no need to get her license or car until now, plus i think she had some driving anxiety. she also got her car thru hop's friend but it was a little more expensive than will's since it's a bit newer and a nicer model, but she's had more time to save up for it! she mostly got one because she wanted to be able to have something to drive back at school, and also because she's more willing to admit than will is that the cobalt is not going to last super long, so one of them needs to have a car lol.

dustin: dustin got his car from his mom when she upgraded to a new one and while most people would complain dustin said FUCK YEAH because he loves his mom's car and also didn't have to spend a single dime on it lol. i think he got it when he was 17 as well so he also drove lucas and mike around for a bit before they got their cars as part of the indy crew!

Thoughts: Using Oracle cards for Arcana

It make sense if they want to avoid cutting the Arcana entirely, but they also want to escape the restrictions that come with the traditional Tarot deck.

Tarot cards are a deck of playing cards with an extra set of trumps.  They were designed with gameplay in mind, and using them for divination didn’t happen until afterward.  And in some countries they’re still mainly used for card games.  That’s why there wasn’t a lot of variation until more modern times, when artists and fortune tellers started putting their own spin on things.  When the deck is primarily used to play games you want the decks to be standardized.  There was still variation, but it almost always had a clear reason.  Like Juno and Jupiter replacing the Pope and Popess because the church complaining.

Oracle cards were designed specifically for divination, and they lack the structure that Tarot has.  How many cards are in an Oracle deck?  The number that the published wanted to sell!  What trumps do they contain?  Whatever the designer thought fit with the theme.  There’s no guarantee that you’ll see an equivalent to the minor Arcana because they aren’t built on top of a deck of playing cards.

And from a marketing perspective looking into Oracle decks is more appealing than doing something the like minor Arcana Confidants, especially for the titles.  What does the Nine of Wands mean?  The layman sure doesn’t know.  But if I find an Oracle card called Resilience the meaning is clear.

But also, they may not actually be basing these Arcana on specific cards at all.  There is so much variation in Oracle cards that you could pick a subject and there will probably be card with it.  Let’s say I want to give a character The Artist as an Arcana.  Am I thinking of a specific card?  No.  Could I find an Oracle card with that title if I searched for it?  Probably.

As someone who likes Tarot I’m a little disappointed with the Arcana being diluted, but I can see why they’re going in this direction.  At the rate they’re releasing characters having any restrictions on what slots you have probably feels way too limiting.

Haha, yeah, that about fits with what I learned about oracle decks when I was searching for information! Though I like how you’ve summarized it all here, and I wasn’t planning to make any in-depth explanation of what they are, so this helps, heh.

All that said, I don’t know if I’d say they’re “going in this direction”, present tense. I think they were going in this direction at one point, but the lack of Arcana for any newer characters, or even Shun and Riko, has me seriously doubting whether they’re planning to continue assigning them. I checked with another dataminer (who’s actually able to get into the files that have this Arcana data) in the current game version, and they confirmed that no new ones have been added since Version 1.3.1. Admittedly I’m being a bit pessimistic, but I’d kind of already resigned myself to the idea that they wouldn’t be adding Arcana at all, and though we got a little taste of them, there’s really zero evidence that we’ll get any more than that. I suppose I’m trying not to get my hopes up, heh.

On the bright side, this little taste of what they might’ve done for Arcana at least helps inform any future headcanons/theories about what Arcana characters might’ve had! We got just enough evidence to suggest that story characters would get proper tarot Arcana (possibly avoiding overlap with the canon Phantom Thieves?), while Phantom Idols would get oracle deck Arcana instead. So that’s something!

For what it's worth, I mostly still stand by everything under my old tags (Jaune/Cinder, Cinder's redemption, V10 predictions - although there's a few I drafted out in addition to whatever I did post on here), according to reading RWBY-the-show. I still maintain most of what we've seen was intended in one way or another (Ozlem, I/ronwood, the redemptions we've seen already, Jungian/alchemical based storytelling) since they're very early products of the show, even down to finer details like foreshadowing a future Ruby/Ozma reincarnation partner (V1/2 hints). The question is whether that proves true in whatever form the show survives in at this point because there are creative compromises which happen because of that.

Very clear elements of V9 suggest this was already beginning to happen (see: tonal abruptness from V8->V9, only picking up again at the halfway point e.g. when viewer drops always happen, which was where a twist was saved for) and I'd go so far as to contend what makes the pacing of E1-4 feel odd, but for some elements which seem highly suggestive of expected Jungian beats (visions of oneself in the caterpillar hut), is because it was specifically to draw in an audience which enjoyed Beacon hijinks but also newer viewers who want familiar tropey hijinks (and I think it is telling that beats of the volume especially compromised was the ending). And it didn't work. Then past that roadbump there's a tonal shift to something more familiar: serious narrative stakes and emotional journeys. And like, a suggestion of fraughtness.

This is a classic stunt of the average aggrieved RWBY fan, for the record. As far back as Volume 1 fans were complaining the show was 'deviating from the vision'. I remember it very clearly. Headcanons had already shaped around the character trailers. By V2 there were people unhappy with rushed production and animation errors and not enough of xyz trope and then there had been too much Jaune in the previous volume, so that was an endless fandom debate.

At a certain point with creative compromise it's no longer about compromise and more about what the creators are willing to let a work be, and that's just what it is: no crying for original intent, and instead time to come to terms with what it truly is. So I am never willing to pull the 'if only RWBY had not become creatively compromised' excuse, but I am hoping against hope that missteps in V9 were simply that - missteps - and if the show gets renewed, it's not on those terms, because they didn't work anyway to get it renewed. And I remember writing an unpopular post that the ongoing lampshading in the volume, and the clumsiness of the twee character writing was a clear, fatal compromise which was never going to win halfway fans over and was only going to alienate weirdoes like me. But then if the show happens to be renewed, and it reprises these elements, that - say - they want to cater to xyz fan demographic or they want to go back on the show which had been set up and had been realised across subsequent volumes - then I would admit defeat.

But then I don't know the ins and outs of the business side of the production anymore, and I think I am still in fantasyland where RWBY gets to be an independent production. So who really knows. I still think most of what I had to say on the topic of conceivable Jaune/Cinder was coherent, but in terms of alienating the fanbase, that ship is about as bad as you can get. Where their priorities are in renewal, if it happens, is uncertain. But then why renew RWBY if you can't do RWBY? Lol. But then, was Knightfall ever RWBY? I would like to know at least!

this happens literally every time a new ac title gets released. everyone hates the newest game until a newer one comes along for people to hate even more, and then proceeds to look back on the game they previously hated with fondness a few years later. rinse and repeat forever and ever. stop expecting the new games to give you what the ezio trilogy gave you. if you want unity, then go fucking replay unity. if you want black flag, then go fucking replay black flag. if you want the original, then go fucking replay the original. stop rating the games based on what they aren't and instead, rate them based on what they are. of course, none of this is to say that people aren't entitled to their own personal preferences, but the constant complaining makes me wonder if most of these people even like ac at all and in fact, just makes you sound like an insufferable, pedantic asshole.

reader inserts. not only would I Not Fucking Say That, most of the time the subject of the reader insert also Would Not Fucking Say That. they're almost always made to be so painfully out of character in order to fit into whatever story or preconceived au is being written, to the point where i often wonder if the author even likes or cares about the character they're writing for. personally, if i'm writing a character—especially one i like— i want to make sure i'm doing them justice, which is why i cannot fathom essentially borrowing a character's face and name and nothing else for the purpose of wish fulfillment. it's feels like these authors see all these characters as being completely interchangeable with one another and it drives me fucking crazyyyy.

the only reason i can really think of for not just writing an original work at that point is that using a pre-existing character also provides a pre-existing fandom for your work. but then you're also annoying the shit out of anyone, like me, who is going into a character tag because they want to see content about the actual character, not a 5k ooc smut fic that you couldn't even bother to put under a read-more!!! i cannot stress enough how much i literally would not give a single shit what people are doing with their own free time if the proliferation of those works didn't make every single character tag (and often actor tags as well, because some people will tag every character an actor has ever played in their fics as well, which qualifies as spam btw!!) on this site completely unusable. if i ever wanted to see x reader fics i would search for them specifically, but unfortunately there's also no blanket tag for me to blacklist. so i guess i'll just keep blocking new users until i die.

I think it's ok and good for characters to grow and change and sometimes gain new and different flaws than they originally had.

It happens a lot with comics and serialized franchises like the MCU and Star Wars where characters have been around for YEARS and new writers come in to explore them and different styles of stories are told with the same characters and inevitably, people will complain that that's not 'really' that character, that the characterization is wrong, or whatever.

Or they'll complain about fan creations like fanfic, headcanons, and just posts about their fave and claim the poster just 'doesn't understand' the character/they're only drawing from one type of story with the character, etc.

It's ok to favor one iteration of a character or the way one author writes them, but it's also ok if someone else feels differently and likes another iteration. You don't have some superiority because you've read more versions of the character/attached yourself to an older version and someone else has attached themselves to a newer one. Both are ok.

ESPECIALLY if it's a character with DECADES of content or their story spans DECADES.

Like, if you identified with a character when that character was like, 12 and then the franchise continued for years and now that character is like 40, ummmm they're not gonna be the same person they were at 12? They've grown and changed and had new experiences that have forged them into new people. Sure, some base line characteristics might be the same, but I sure as hell am not the same person I was at 12. Especially if the original narrative was a coming of age story, they learned massive things that have changed their worldview and given them new skills.

For characters that pretty much stay the same age through the decades due to comics logic, it's ok to be drawn to one characterization over another. Just because the new material isn't showing the character the EXACT SAME as the og material did doesn't mean the writers 'just don't get' the character. Maybe the writers wanted to delve deeper into one specific aspect of the character and it's not the characteristic you wanted to look deeper at/take the forefront of the character, but that doesn't mean that characterization is wrong - it's just different to what you prefer. That's the beauty of comics: there are A LOT of runs you can go to and get different things from.

Idk, I guess my point is to take a breath before declaring that THIS SPECIFIC ITERATION of a character is the real one and anyone who theorizes about, writes fics about, what have you about a different iteration 'just doesn't understand' the character like you do.

Go ahead and opine about how 'x' writing choice doesn't fit what you liked about the character/don't feel like the character was meant to represent - especially if the character was meant to be a paragon like Superman - but don't look down your nose at people who like thinking about a different version of that character.

[Hell, I've talked about how I don't like how Ahsoka is being treated in the post-Clone Wars stuff because what made me love her so much was that she REJECTED the Jedi Order and carved her own path and the new stuff is making her seem like she's now just trying to...re-create that thing she walked away from? Of course there will be writers who don't do a great job with the character, but you will always have the old version to go back to - they aren't going anywhere (unless they're exclusively on one of those streaming sites that are just deleting their content for asinine reasons, if that's the case, then my condolences, idk what you can do about that). Let people have their fun with the other versions as long as, you know, they aren't doing exactly what I'm talking about in this post and pretending their version is the only/real one.

You like the og Hellblazer John Constantine that isn't shooting out spells like crazy? Great! Someone else likes the stories exploring what he can do with wild magic? Also great! You can both coexist!

You like the non-religious Daredevil where his Catholicism is a footnote that doesn't affect him? Great! Someone else likes the versions of him that grapples with his religion and incorporates that directly into his vigilantism? Also great!

I feel the need to make a disclaimer because like all posts like this, people tend to come out of the woodwork to point out every exception to this generalization. So y'all: of course there can be bad interpretations of characters who were established to have 'x' thing be very important to them and then all of a sudden it's not anymore. But ALSO characters change over time (old Superman was sometimes a straight up asshole, Batman killed people and used guns). Characters 'become' who they are today based on what we've read/seen of them and the public consensus of what we think they should represent and as people, we aren't always going to agree on that.

It's always so much more fun interacting with people with compassion and space for differing likes and dislikes for characters - even the same character we love so much.

Be welcoming, be gracious with differences, lift each other up, and have productive conversations rather than attacks and annoyance that people don't see things the same way you do.

2) I do not Give A Fuck about TSATS. It adds zero things to the RRverse, and what it retcons is retconned right back into canon by Chalice of the Gods and pardon me if a book written by Rick Riordan himself holds more weight to me than one by someone who was given a vague handwave to write a childish kid's book that treats Greece's Hell Incarnate like a kiddie pool, agressively pushing the queer themes in your face like okay, we get it. you don't need to spell it out thanks. and for Some Reason decides to ignore the fact that Solangelo are both openly in a relationship together in The Trials of Apollo, which comes before TSATS😒

However, TSATS drops so much already-established-for-years-lore into the trash and straight-up ignores established canon At Least as far back as The Son of Neptune (hello, Bianca-who-is-supposed-to-be-reincarnated-and-the-reason-Hazel-is-resurrected-instead-but-apparently-Bianca's-not-now) and newer(ish) additions from The Trials of Apollo (hello, Apollo's amazing character study and touching story that was Completely Ignored)

Also, I understand Will Solace is Bisexual in TSATS- however, in as few words as possible, there are so many retcons in TSATS that contradicted canon, so I do not see TSATS as canon. Reasons why are a whole essay that I do not want to write.

Because of this, I still see Will as Gay, as do many others in this fandom. There is absolutely no disrespect intended from this-remember, this is a fictional book series about fictional characters. We are allowed to interpret characters in different ways, and I just so happen to interpret Will as Gay.

the headcanon that avian hybrids give away feathers as a courtship ritual seems to be fairly popular in the fandom, so I am thinking about Grian giving some to his boyfriends.

Mumbo has a particularly beautiful one he keeps pinned to the lapel of his suit. He has a subconscious habit of preening it to keep his hands busy, keeping it pristine even when the rest of him is covered in engine grease and redstone dust. Grian laughs and says he can just have more, but Mumbo insists this one is special, it is the first one Grian ever gave him and he intends to take good care of it.

Scar has a necklace he can slot two or three feathers into. He was never good at keeping track of things and these are important enough that he does not want to risk losing them. Even so the feathers are easily exchanged for new ones, as they sometimes get destroyed when he suffers a particularly nasty death to kinetic energy. If the necklace gives him an excuse to walk around shirtless, well, who is he to complain? ("But Grian, how could I not show off these beautiful feathers of yours?" "Have you considered that you could simply wear them over your shirt?" "That just wouldn't be the same")

Big B's is also in a necklace, this one far simpler. Where Scar's was made on hermitcraft with all the time and resources in the world, this one was made with leather that Grian really could not spare, time he should have spent more wisely, a testament to his devotion. The single feather is perhaps even more beautiful than the one Mumbo owns, a beauty that is reserved for Big B's eyes only, as he wears it concealed under his many layers at all times. It is rare for items to stick with a player through respawn, rarer still through world-jumps. Only items of great sentimental value tend to get carried over. So it is only natural that after Big B wakes up back on his own world, he feels the feather hanging over his heart, a memento of his secret soulmate.

mumbo’s one feather that he keeps very safe vs scar and his new feather every other week FBDHRGFF god I love them

and !!!! OUGHHH BIGB’S…… I think he keeps it on him at all times, but maybe he moves to keeping it in his pocket when he lands back in his own world. he keeps it close and very protected, taking good care of it. he makes a newer necklace with better materials and gentle hands that no longer need to carry weapons.
