Their first Halloween as a family of four!!

Does Rafe wear a costume? Does he stay home to give out candy or goes trick or treating w gf and the kids?

Hmmm, I think Rafe would do a costume, but the bare minimum. He would match with Charlie though, maybe his son wanted to be Buzz Lightyear so he dresses as Woody. Otherwise he’s probably going as Patrick Bateman ngl, just bc he forgot to organise a costume and he has a suit that looks pretty similar lying around.

Rafe would take Charlie around Figure 8 for a bit, walking with him to go knock on doors, making sure his son fills up his little basket of candy. His wife had only given Charlie a small basket to make sure he didn’t get sick, but Rafe secretly brings a little bag to put the extra sweets in when it began to overflow, allowing the small boy to keep getting more sweets.

“Hey, this is just between us, ok buddy? You don’t tell your mom about this, or we’re both going to be in trouble,” he tells Charlie, watching him nod with wide eyes.

“I promise, daddy. Secret!”

Maybe the whole family couldn’t go out trick-or-treating that night as Emmy was still too little and too fussy, needing to be coddled into her mother’s chest at all times. They had managed to go out to the country club’s Halloween party for the families earlier in the day, Charlie getting his face painted and running around on the grass, his parents watching on as their son squealed with joy. Rafe sits with his wife as she begins to breastfeed at their table - he gives anyone a hard glare if they even try to judge her for it. That meme of ‘my girl can wear whatever she wants bc I can fight’ except it’s just ‘my wife could literally do anything ever and it’s ok bc I can fight and also accurately shoot a gun’.

When the family settle to eat lunch, they plan their outfits for the next year. Emmy will be bigger then, they say to Charlie, and he excitedly starts to give ideas about a family costume. Rafe grimaces a little at the idea of dressing up again, but knows he will do it for his son anyway, despite the teasing he gets from Topper and Kelce.

Alright folks, I like to bake my stress away, so for this weekend I made my first batch of caramels for the season, and I thought I’d share the recipe with you all, because I’m really happy with how they came out. They’re apple flavored, and I’m extremely proud of the recipe, which took me all winter last year to figure out.

To do a very quick version of the recipe blog thing – for me, these are inspired by Sukkot, because when I was a kid my synagogue always gave us caramel apples to eat in the sukkah. I know that probably most other Jews don’t have that same association, but for me, this is a candy for the holiday.

Ok, stuff you’re gonna need:

Medium saucepan (go for at least 3 quarts)

Strainer

Candy thermometer

8x8 inch pan

Parchment paper

Heat-proof spatula

Ingredients:

2 cups apple cider

1 cup heavy cream

2 cinnamon sticks

1 ½ cups white sugar

¼ cup light corn syrup

6 tablespoons unsalted butter (plus a little more for the pan)

1 -2 teaspoons of vanilla extract

½ teaspoon kosher salt

Directions:

Reduce the apple cider over medium high heat until it’s the consistency of syrup. This usually takes like 40ish minutes. Reserve for later. Wash and dry the saucepan.

Using a small knife, cut open the cinnamon sticks and add those to a medium saucepan (preferably one with straight sides and a tight-fitting lid). Add the cream. Bring to a simmer over medium-high heat, then cover and turn off the heat. Let steep in the fridge for at least 8 hours or, preferably, up to 3 days.

Strain the cream into a measuring cup, pressing gently with the back of a spoon. Top off with more cream if needed to yield 1 cup. Wash and dry the saucepan.

Grease an 8x8-inch baking pan with butter and line the bottom and two sides with one long piece of parchment paper, smoothing the parchment flush to the pan.

In the cleaned saucepan, combine the sugar, corn syrup, and ¼ cup water. Cook over medium-high heat, stirring with a fork until the sugar is mostly dissolved.

Cover with a lid and cook until just beginning to brown. It’s okay to peek every so often if your lid isn’t clear. The lid will cause some of the evaporating water to wash down the sides of the pot for you, preventing any re-crystallization of the sugar

Once the mixture is beginning to brown, remove the lid and cook, swirling the pan as needed to cook evenly, until the caramel is the color you want it (darker is more flavorful)

Turn off the heat. Carefully pour in the cinnamon cream, butter and reduced apple cider (be careful, it will sputter and steam and significantly increase in volume). Then add the vanilla extract, then the salt. Return to medium-high heat, clip on a candy thermometer, and cook, stirring occasionally, until the temperature reads between 245°F and 250°F. Turn off the heat and remove the thermometer.

Pour the caramel into the prepared dish and smooth into an even layer with an offset spatula or spoon. Cool at room temperature until set.

Run an offset spatula along the edges to loosen the caramel. Use the side parchment overhang to lift the caramel and transfer to a cutting board. If it's really stuck, you can gently warm the pan and that will help loosen it. Peel off the parchment.

Using a knife, cut the caramel into 1-inch squares. Wrap each caramel in parchment or wax paper (I find 5 inch x 4 inch rectangles work well) and store in the refrigerator or a cool place for up to 1 month.

Jee Dates

"Tommy, wake up," Buck said softly, gently shaking his boyfriend's shoulder. "It's Jee date day."

Tommy stirred, a smile spreading across his face even before he opened his eyes. "Already? What time is it?"

"Early," Buck chuckled, "but you know how excited she gets. We promised to pick her up at 9."

As Tommy got out of bed, stretching, Buck couldn't help but reflect on how they'd gotten to this point. He wasn't quite sure how it happened. He had always been close to his niece, but once he and Tommy started dating, she was drawn to Tommy like a magnet. And Tommy definitely didn't mind his adoring fan.

At first, it was casual outings - they would take her to the park or out for ice cream, or she'd come to their house for pancakes. But somehow, those casual meetups evolved into what they now called "Jee dates."

Now they had a standing date once a month where they would spend the whole day with Jee, doing activities of her choice. It had become something all three of them looked forward to, a special tradition that strengthened their bond as a family.

"So, remind me what the plan is for today?" Tommy asked as he pulled on a t-shirt.

Buck's grin widened. "To your delight, and Maddie's dismay, Jee has chosen the Monster Truck rally."

Tommy's face lit up with excitement. "Yes! I knew that kid had good taste."

"Well, she certainly takes after her Uncle Tommy in some ways," Buck laughed. "Maddie's convinced you're corrupting her daughter."

"Hey, expanding her interests is not corruption," Tommy defended playfully. "Besides, Jee loved Disney on Ice last month. She's a well-rounded kid."

Buck nodded, remembering how Jee's eyes had lit up watching her favorite characters glide across the ice. "That's true. From Disney princesses to monster trucks – our girl's got range."

"Exactly," Tommy agreed. "And who knows, maybe she'll grow up to be a professional ice skater who drives monster trucks in her spare time."

Buck couldn't help but laugh at the image. "Now that would be something to see. Maddie would probably blame us for that career choice too."

As they continued to get ready, both men felt a surge of anticipation for the day ahead. These "Jee dates" had become more than just a fun outing - they were a chance for Buck and Tommy to share their love, to be role models, and to create lasting memories with the little girl who had stolen both their hearts.

"Ready to go pick up our favorite girl?" Buck asked, keys in hand.

Tommy nodded, a soft smile on his face. "Always. Let's make this a Jee date to remember."

With that, they headed out, ready for a day full of monster trucks, cotton candy, and the unbridled joy of a child they both adored.

As they got into the car, Tommy grinned and said, "Ready for another adventure with Jee-bug, fellow Guncle?"

Buck rolled his eyes fondly. "You know, technically that's not quite right. I'm not gay, I'm bi."

Tommy's face took on an exaggerated look of shock, his voice deadpan and dripping with sarcasm. "Wait, you're bi? How come you never told me?"

Buck couldn't help but laugh, playfully shoving Tommy's shoulder. "Oh, shut up. You know what I mean."

Tommy's facade cracked as he chuckled. "I know, I know. But 'Quncles' doesn't roll off the tongue quite as well, does it?"

"True," Buck agreed, still grinning. "Though Maddie still thinks the qualifier isn't necessary."

Tommy nodded, his expression softening. "Right, because we're both just Jee's loving uncles, regardless of our sexuality."

"Exactly," Buck said. "But I have to admit, I do like our little 'Guncles' thing, even if it's not technically accurate for me."

As they pulled up to Maddie and Chimney's house, they could see Jee's excited face peering out the window, clearly having been watching for their arrival.

"Guncles!" she squealed as she ran out the door, Maddie following close behind with a backpack full of Jee's things.

Maddie shook her head with a fond smile. "I still say you're just uncles, but I guess I'm outvoted on this one."

Tommy grinned. "What can we say? The kid has spoken."

Buck just laughed as he got out of the car to scoop up their excited niece. "Ready for some monster trucks, Jee-bug?"

As they drove towards the Monster Truck rally, Jee chatted away happily in the backseat. Suddenly, she piped up with a series of questions that caught both men off guard.

"Hey Uncle Buck, how come you date boys? Are you guys ever gonna get married and be husbands? Can I be the flower girl if you do? And please don't get married at the hospital like Mommy and Daddy did, okay? And how come Mara and Denny have 2 Mommies? Are you ever gonna have a kid? Will your baby have 2 Daddies? If they do, will they be sad they don't have a Mommy? Will they call both of you Daddy?"

"Well, Jee-bug, that's a lot of questions," Buck started, his voice gentle. "I'll try to answer them all. I date boys, or in this case, your Uncle Tommy, because that's who I fell in love with. Some people love boys, some love girls, and some, like me, can love both."

Tommy nodded, adding, "And yes, we do plan to get married and be husbands someday. When we do, we'd love for you to be our flower girl."

"And we promise not to get married in a hospital," Buck chimed in with a grin. "We'll pick somewhere much more fun."

"As for Mara and Denny having two mommies," Tommy continued, "families come in all different shapes and sizes. Some have a mom and a dad, some have two moms or two dads, and some have just one parent."

Buck picked up the thread, "Tommy and I would love to have a family someday. And yes, if we do, your cousin will have two dads."

"But they won't be sad about not having a mommy," Tommy added. "Because they'll have two parents who love them very much, just like your mom and dad love you."

"And if we do have kids," Buck concluded, "they might call us both Daddy, or we might use different names to avoid confusion. We'll figure that out when the time comes."

Jee seemed to consider this for a moment. "Okay," she said finally. "Can we get cotton candy at the monster trucks?"

Buck and Tommy both chuckled at the abrupt change of subject, typical of a child Jee's age.

"Sure thing, Jee-bug," Tommy said, catching Buck's eye with a warm smile. They both felt a surge of love - for each other, for Jee, and for the family they would have someday.

Just finished Fantasy High: Junior Year, which was once again a great feat of storytelling on both Brennan, the Heroes, and the art department's parts. This season was really clean in terms of dealing with upper level D&D, and the story and the battles were done very well. I enjoyed it a lot, and it did make me tear up in some moments, which was what I was expecting because the Bad Kids do hold a very dear place in my heart, and everyone that takes part in this story does their job with so much precision and love that we can all see it.

Specifically in terms of story I do think focusing on the school part of this universe, and how Brennan did downtime was a good change of pace because it was different to how we'd seen the world of Spyre before. As an American and having experienced my own junior year, this was all very accurate and did make me cringe in places because it DID hit a little too close to home, so good job on Brennan for that. I also think the Heroes did really good with figuring out where their story would go, and how different they all went with it (Adaine needing money vs Fabian trying to become the most popular guy in school). You go through a lot of change junior year because it's the prelude to becoming an Actual Adult so there's so much thrown at you at once, and both the mechanic and the character choices all reflected that super well.

I also thought all the battles were super good, especially the Last Stand. There is nothing I love more than seeing the Heroes flex their battle muscles, and showing how well they all understand the mechanics and the characters they've built. It's always a joy to watch people do something they're good at, so that will always make watching them flip through sheets of paper and roll some dice an enjoyable time.

In general, this was the Heroes at their peak. They've stepped it up every time, and I expect that for the next season, if/when they choose to do one. I devoured this season like I have past ones, and I enjoyed every minute of it. Seeing the Bad Kids in action is always a treat, and I give my love to everyone who worked on this season, because they deserve every bit of it. Wonderful job gang <3

Syrup: Ever had the feeling of impending doom just waiting around the corner to strike you down right there where you once stood? Yeah…ain’t that just a mood, heheheh...heh.

Oh man, Syrup is so screwed.

Why, just why. Why? Why him? Why now? Why star forsaken now? Couldn’t it have happened like next week? Or next month? Or better yet, some time into the future when he got his schedule semi free. Or even better, how about never that would be great! But nope! It had to be today - or more accurately yesterday night at 23:57, but hey, who’s counting?

Syrup that’s who.

He drags his hands down his orange flushed face, groaning out loud into his hands. Just his luck, ammi right? How is he going to be able to face you now? Maybe he could call in sick- nah he couldn't risk it, what if you decided to take care of him since Sky is on a little trip.

Say the cat died or something- that will never work, he doesn’t even have a cat.

What if he said he couldn’t make it- how so can’t he make it, the movie is at his house!

Not to forget, who in their right mind cancels movie day just a few hours before said movie day?

Syrup throws the blanket over his head and tugs it down his face as he groans again. He stares at the fabric of his blanket in utter defeat.

Welp. Better get it over with and accept his unavoidable fate while he’s at it. ‘He who fights against fate to avoid it will end up making it a reality’, or however the saying goes. Syrup peeks his head out from underneath his blanket, taking a glance at the clock. 1:00 AM it reads. Eight hours left to get a semi good wink of sleep and to get his emotions in check.

…

Oh, Syrup is so screwed.

The moment the doorbell rings Syrup can practically feel his life’s clock start to tick his last living hours. He robotically walks to the door, almost tripping over his own shoes as he wrings his hands. Syrup swallows, feeling his soul jump with nerves as he opens the door. And there you stood.

“Hi Syrup, ready for our movie date?”

And of course Syrup’s reaction is the epitome of chill by gracefully choking on the air he sucked in at the mention of a ‘date’. Having completely forgotten that is what you have always called the movie hangouts the two of you share. Very smooth indeed. “oh, oh! oh yeah, the watching of movies! born ready, yeah.”

Someone, dust him now, please.

By some sort of miracle, you haven’t just turned around and left the disaster that was Syrup to his internal screaming. (Yes, he’s overreacting.)

The rest of the day went okay-ish? Syrup definitely embarrassed himself a few times but it wasn’t anything ‘ground, please suck me up and never spit me out again’ kind of embarrassing, so that’s a win. What wasn’t a win was that Syrup was hyper-aware of your presence near him. Every touch sent electricity through him, every look or smile left him stuttering over his own words. Where was his star’s forsaken poker-face when he needed it for once? In the end, Syrup was at least glad that he couldn’t smell. To put it simply, movie date was going alright.

Until it wasn’t.

He hadn’t meant to, it just crawled out his non-existent throat and tumbled right past his teeth before he could grab it and beat it to silence. You were laughing at how Remi tried to guide Linguine to cook. There were pieces of popcorn in your mouth as that melodious sound leaves past your lips. Syrup had always found laughter a beautiful sound. So full of life, of joy, of subtle stories of one’s life and soul being told in little pieces of tones and volumes.

Kizuna and their relationship with food

I made this whole blog for this one post so take it minor tw for implied ed

Yusei

While not actively starving himself anymore, he still forgets to eat regularly.

He has the advantage of getting distracted by his tinkering easily, so he always took that to forget his hunger and leave more food for the others.

He probably would've been taller if he didn't do that

He also has a very small appetite. More accurately described as "this is the maximum amount that would logically be attributed to me considering my situation and getting more will make me ✨uncomfortable✨ about starving the others".

He's working on increasing that maximum.

Jack

The oddball. Except not really.

He always has been a big eater, whether he liked it or not. If he didn't eat enough he'd feel weird and depressed.

He felt plenty depressed in Satellite

Food was the first luxury he indulged in when he went to the City. Power needs Energy.

Having a nice warm meal filling his stomach has always been his selfish craving, so after leaving his friends he fell into a bit of a bulimia.

It wasn't very clear, but it was like he was eating instead of them. The guilt made him eat more.

Another side of him also thought he deserved it. Yet another thought it was the continuation of his selfishness.

Jack doesn't like food all that much after that.

Which is why he reverts back to cup ramen once he rejoins his friends. He'd never had any as a King, as it was too cheap and reminded him of the past, leaving it untarnished.

As snob as he might be, he cannot stand fancy food anymore, even if he has to cook himself.

Crow

Crow always thought he was short because he wasn't eating enough, and blamed Jack for it.

In hindsight, and after taking care of children, he regrets it immensely.

which is why he indulged in him buying whole boxes of cup ramen despite being on a tight budget

Despite being very protective of his food when he was younger, he learned how to share and years later, much like Yusei, started giving his portion to the others.

He's still more practical about it than the other two, if a bit instinctual, as if he finds himself with food and no one to give it to, he'll inhale it in record time.

He's also mastered the art of scavenging and cooking food in all manners possible. Even more efficient than Martha who called him for help sometimes.

He might have a problem recognizing what food is actually good for consumption though.

Common

None of them ever ever keep leftovers willingly. What Yusei doesn't finish after being pushed ends up in Crow's stomach.

They also have weird tastebuds, as the rest of the group came to realize; they're not that receptive to sweet things, for them it just feels sticky and inconsistent, like cotton candy.

Jack never ate desserts back when he was a King.

(They wouldn't say no to a good Martha pie though.

Since the Daedalus Bridge completed she's been discovering the joys of pâtisserie and they're all getting dragged into it.)

None of them can handle spice all that well, not if it's anything else than spicy cup ramen.

All of them can (and would, if necessary) bite into a raw potato without flinching.

Fruits were also that weird sort of luxury that has them swooning at a single apple.

They'd share the apple equally, then fight over it for good measure, and then part like it hasn't been the highlight of their day.

Positive Division:

This will give you more information on the Mind Spirits in the Positive Division that the group mets in Royal Field Trip.

If the Mind Spirits have stars(*) by their names then they can admit powerful auras of their emotion.

The guardians of the Division Heads all have three special effects; their helpers are animals, they can turn into that animal, and their power works the same way the Heads do; they need to collect the emotion or side to power up.

*Sweetie; Emotion of Happiness:

"I’m Sweetie, Emotion of Happiness. Welcome to my sweet world."

Outfit/Look - Sweetie wears a yellow candy and cake-themed dress, has light yellow hair in short twin pigtails and two yellow cat ears on top of her head, and has bubblegum pink eyes.

Domain - Sweetie’s room is decorated in sweets; Giant cakes and cupcakes make up the floor and candy decorates the ground. There is also hot pink, highlight yellow, and electric blue bubbles floating overhead. Near the end of the room is a big kitchen where Sweetie’s bubblegum pink helpers bake treats to fix the grounds and harvest candy.

Explanation - Baking makes Daniella happy so you can imagine what she does when she's down in the dumps; she goes to Vlad's and bakes a whole bunch of treats. Daniella's favorite cake flavor is vanilla and her favorite candy is sour candies, especially lemon drops. Another thing that makes Daniella happy is her pets. The bubbles are a representation of her childhood; when she was younger, a toddler, she loved going to the park and chasing bubbles around.

Explanation - The reason Delight’s dress is that shape is because when she was at her joyous she was wearing a dress of the same shape. The color of the dress is based on the color of the flowers in the garden where she danced with Undergrowth, which was when she was at her joyous. The reason that the room is a garden is because flowers bring Daniella joy whenever she’s around them.

Domain - Rocker’s room is a black void with the stage from the first concert Daniella went to; Ember’s concert. Rocker’s pale cornflower helpers are her bandmates.

Explanation - Daniella is not a big fan of Rock music, which is why there is a void, but that doesn’t mean she hates it especially since one of her best friends plays that kind of music for a living and died because of it. Once she dressed up in a leather outfit when she and Ember were jamming out.

Outfit/Look - Prankster wears a green dress, has black hair in double buns, and has forest green eyes. She also looks like a 10-year-old Daniella.

Domain - A single room floating in a colorful void. The room can change to whatever Prankster wants it to be. Her forest green inhabitants, or playmates as she calls them, are the size of children and act like it too.

Explanation - While Prankster may say that she has nothing to do with Daniella's childhood that's not exactly accurate; her room and her outfit have to do with it but her attitude and personality have everything to do with Daniella's childishness. When Daniella was a child she had a big imagination and it always ran wild, in fact, she was the one that always came up with the games they would play. One of her favorites was always playing hide and seek where she would hide in trees. The outfit is a bit different, when Daniella was a baby Jack and Maddie would have Vlad come down from Wisconsin to watch her and her siblings while they did ghost stuff. It got to the point that Vlad bought a mansion on the border of Amity Park and Elmerton. The mansion became a safe haven for her and her siblings. They have their own room stocked with their own clothes. Prankster’s outfit and hairstyle are based on the outfits Daniella wore as a kid in the mansion or more specifically when she was ten, visiting the mansion.

Outfit/Look - Pop wears a bright-colored dress and has red eyes. Her hair is up in twin ponytails with space buns on top. The hair buns are sky blue and the ponytail is smoky purple with pale green tips. She also looks like a 16-year-old Daniella.

Domain - An outdoor beach party. The party is based on a beach party Daniella and Danny went to with the kings where they stood on the balcony overlooking the party, watching and making fun of everyone. The red inhabitants are the partygoers.

Explanation - When it comes to parties Daniella is not exactly a lover of them, well that depends on what kind of party it is, if it's one of the boring charity balls or galas that Vlad drags them off to then she wants nothing to do with it, well maybe make some mischief with her brother and friends. The same with the party she goes to with the Kings. But if she has to be center stage or be on her best behavior in front of people at parties she's the picture-perfect lady.

Explanation - Unfortunately Courage is a young Mind Spirit (but not the youngest in the Positive Division but she is the youngest of the twelve in front of Cupid’s room) so there's not much to her, though there is that she is one of the representatives of Daniella's knowledge of weapons.

Domain - Brave’s room is Casper High School. But is deserted because Brave has a hard time trusting others, even her helpers. 

Explanation - Daniella has never trusted many people in her life but the hardest is when you go to school, especially High School. You never know who to trust and who not to trust, the first day of school taught her that. Because Daniella does not trust people, Brave doesn’t trust people, she only trusts those that Daniella trusts. And while she may be shy around those whom she does not trust, she is very brave and is willing to stand up for what she does believe in.

Explanation - Queenie is one of the newest in the Positive Division but is not the newest of the twelve in front of Cupid. Daniella’s pride comes from her wanting to be right with her brother or when someone disrespects her. Queenie is another representative of Daniella's knowledge of weapons.

Explanation - Again Sally is a small Mind Spirit but Daniella does sacrifice herself for the people she loves. Sally is very rude because she doesn't want to get attached to people if she knows that she has to sacrifice herself at one point and she does a hell of a job of sacrificing herself (by that I mean she’s a drama queen when it comes to it).

Tina; Feeling of Heartbreaks:

"I’m Tina, Feelings of Heartbreak. Are you here to see my collection?"

Outfit/Look - Tina wears a black dress with a veil to cover her eyes because if she looks at them in a mirror she thinks of her helpers. She has dull green eyes. She has short black hair that is oddly cut, and very greasy, like it hasn’t been taken care of. It also looks like someone tried to dye it but it didn’t work.

Domain - When you enter you are led down a path of dead roses. It leads out to an area with mirrors covered with silky white sheets. In the center is a tiny patch of grass where one rose and a rosebud are growing. The roses represent how long she’s been here, if a rose is in full bloom that is one year. Tina’s room has mirrors in it that are covered with silky white sheets. Her dark green helpers are trapped in the mirrors because Tina is scared of them, the covers are what trap them.

Explanation - Tina is the only really ‘bad’ positive emotion in the division but she wears that with pride because she was handpicked by Cupid. Tina is the embodiment of all of Daniella’s heartbreaks, however, she has nothing to do with reacting to them, (well maybe her hair but that’s it) those ones live in the Negative Division.

Berry; Feeling of Lust:

Outfit/Look - Berry wears a light pink stripper outfit, has messy long black hair, and has drowsy midnight blue eyes.

Domain - Berry’s room is a bed in the middle with silk hanging around the small room. There are also midnight blue tentacles in the room that hide, these are her helpers. They are tentacles not because of the helper effect of the Guardian of the Heads (she’s not even a guardian), no they are tentacles because when Berrry got there she didn’t like the helpers’ forms so she used her magic to twist them into tentacles. This is not allowed but she is in the path of Cupid and uses the tentacles for protection too and not just pleasure so Cupid is fine with it but told her that she can’t use them on other Mind Spirits or she would be punished.

Explanation - Berry is the newest Mind Spirit in the Positive Division and you can probably guess why. Berry Is normally only approached by Cupid whenever she needs help with certain things, no one else will go near her because of her helpers. Berry is very lustful and likes to use the tentacles for her own personal pleasure, something the other Mind Spirits don’t approve of. Can they really judge her? It's just her personality.

Outfit/Look - Mirror wears a peacock-themed dress, has long green hair, and has light pink eyes. Mirror can turn into a peacock. As a peacock her colors are inside out; the green is blue and the blue is green. She always has a mirror on her.

Domain - Mirror’s room is full of mirrors, each mirror reflects pictures of Daniella at different times in her life when you stand in front of them. In the air is a tree branch growing from the wall where she and her five peacocks hang out. The peacocks are her inhabitants.

Explanation - Mirror is the Guardian of the Positive Head so she has the guardian effects. Mirror is, unfortunately, very self-absorbed and selfish as well as protective about her image whether it's a mirror image or her actual look which also happens to be Daniella. The reason there are peacocks is because that is Daniella's favorite animal and she has five because that's her lucky number.

Cupid; Emotion of Love and Head of the Positive Division:

"I’m Cupid, Emotion of Love and Head of the Positive Division and this is my Main Helper, Annie. Are you here for a little love?"

Outfit/Look - Cupid wears a red dress with a side of red fabric as the skirt. She has long hot pink hair that is down except for a section of it in a heart shape with a rose flower clip on the side of her head. She has no pupils or iris but red hearts in her eyes.

Domain - Cupid’s room looks like a teenager's bedroom but is love-themed. There are red couches of all sizes with pillows in all shades of red, pink, and white; all love themed. A gold bed is in the corner of the room. It has white silk sheets with pink silk curtains hanging from the gold poles. Heart-shaped pillows in red, pink, and white are set neatly on the bed. Fairy lights in bright yellow are hung high on the walls around the room, and clips with pictures were attached to them. Cupid sits at a computer where she watches Daniella's love life and her division.

Main Helper (Annie) - She has a big pink, circle-shaped head and a small pink body. On top of her head is a glowing red fire that looks like hair. She is wearing the same outfit as Cupid. She signs to Cupid when she can’t see the person’s mouth.

Explanation - Cupid is the Head of the Positive Division and happens to be the embodiment of Daniella's love life so of course, her room looks like a teenager's bedroom and of course, it's covered in red, pink, and white. It’s also because she’s the representative of Daniella’s Human Side. Because she is also the Head she has to cooperate with the others in her division in order to make certain decisions about Daniella’s love life. Her favorite attack to use is her bow and arrow because as she says, ‘My name is Cupid so of course, I would use a bow and arrow like the mythical love maker’. She is not the oldest of the Heads, no she is in the middle. Something else she is also ashamed to admit is that she's not exactly the second oldest Mind Spirit either; there are some in the Negative Division that came before her, but she is the oldest in the Positive Division.

Door - Bright red wood and framed in gold with a ton of sticks, each having something to do with love. On the center of the door is a sign that says, ‘DON’T COME IN! Making love in here’.

ㅤㅤmaybe  it's  more  accurate  to  say  she  catches  him  near  meeting  time,  that  expanse  between  waiting  and  company.  it's  rare.  it's  got  to  be  special.  ‘‘ are  you  headed  to  the  clock  tower?   ’’  xion's  run  up  beside  him,  already  knowing  the  answer.  but  she's  making  conversation  ━  and  awkward  as  it  is,  they  can  just  chalk  it  up  to  being  nobodies,  can't  they?  someone  with  a  heart  might  know  better  how  to  make  the  measured  leap  between  roxas'  friend  and  her  friend  but  she's  ...  a  barrage  of  words  hammer  into  her  head,  scraping  against  her  throat,  all  clamoring  to  derive  an  insecure,  punishing  answer.

Naughty nonnie... Yes-ish. To a point. I'll just say that I have had messages and asks tell me they know what's up with Pope in On the Waterfront, and THEY WERE SO CLOSE... but not that close, you know?

🤡 What's a line, scene, or exchange you've written that made you laugh?

It's not a specific line but the part in An HR Nightmare when Sweetheart hucked the candy at Peña and it bounced off him, I cackled. It's such a small thing, but Peña is such a cranklepuss and I am such a middle child that I derived so much joy at the thought that this would be the thing that pushes him over the line. Anytime Frankie is cranky or snarky makes me laugh too. Also, the whole of Contract Conundrums. I laughed thinking about how to make Dieter sound more Dieter, and snort laughed when I typed Jesus Titty Fucking Christ!. But the reality is that a lot of the more absurd, funny things I have written don't make it to the final draft. They get axed and are fun little secrets for me.

Well. Okay. The Promise, episode 10 (finale), gave us… stuff to think about. Lots of mismatched, incongruous, random, unconnected, any other synonym — stuff.

I’m in mourning, not for the show ending (I’m so glad it’s over), but for the damn potential of the show. It could have been SO. MUCH. BETTER. Would it have been better if it weren’t a commercial? Likely. Would it have been better if the show cared for its characters? VERY LIKELY.

I was hooked originally for the nostalgia aspect of the show, the reflections on Nan and Phu’s childhood, how Phu stayed in Chiang Mai during those 10 years away, the connection to village life, how that reminded me of my childhood while visiting SE Asia. I was hooked to learn about a slice of Thai food culture in coffee cultivation and how beautifully it was depicted.

The show was filmed gorgeously! Khom Kongkiat, my otherwise dear Uncle Tong, clearly has respect and awe for this slice of Thai rural life.

But, fuck, man. The characters and their stories were clearly secondary to the priority of selling the damn skincare, but ALSO — I’d argue that any sensible journey of emotional growth was rendered secondary to this seeming NEED for these UNNECESSARY spikes of INCONGRUENT DRAMA that, I don’t know, maybe Uncle Tong thought he needed to juice up the show, to mix it up from the commercial aspect?

SO MUCH of the finale was unnecessary. Khunkhao in a knife fight?! Nan’s plane inexplicably disappearing?! And then, PHU (should we be surprised?) having the SHEER. AUDACITY. to scold Nan for trying to surprise Phu on his birthday, and like, LITERALLY getting himself ACCIDENTALLY (not on purpose, PHU) in a disappearing plane situation? Phu — are you my mother? Even in times of utter relief and joy, you’re still gonna be a titchy, whiny B? Get TFOH, PLEASE, MAN.

Mayyyybe I can understand how things reconciled between Phu and Khunkhao, but even that played out inconsistently fast. I mean — they were fighting over the same guy. And then you’re huggin’ it out. Now, I get that finding your missing brother, and finding FAMILY, would be important. That could have been a key point that the show could have leveraged — that, if Nan were to decide to go to China, that Phu would not be alone, as Khunkhao himself said.

But then — the show sends Khunkhao away? And gets him into a knife fight? Only to meet another guy named Nan Fah? Good lord, OKAY.

And then? Nan is throwing ALL THE BONES to Phu for Phu to declare his committed love to Nan, awlll of them. How can Phu POSSIBLY MISS? TELL NAN YOU WANT NAN TO STAY! You two can have a reasonable conversation about careers and whatnot! But, Phu! Nan — FOR ONCE, OMG — wants to hear that YOU, PHU, DO NOT WANT TO BE SEPARATED FROM NAN. Just tell the homeboy, one time!

Phu can’t even pull that off. (As @respectthepetty rightly noted, all of this bullshit is not the actors’ fault — they did fantastically for the crap writing they got.)

And finally, FINALLY (IT TOOK YOU 10 EPISODES!!!), Phu can tell Nan that he promises to wait for Nan, to NOT LEAVE, that he will support Nan in Nan’s career. My gawd. Listen — if the writing was truly meant to indicate that Phu was a whiny, selfish B, at least THAT came off accurately and successfully. GAH.

And then Nan tries to do something sweet for Phu, coming back to surprise Phu — then gets himself lost in the air (???) (with no explanation as to how that all happened!), and Phu SCOLDS him — and then they bonk. OH. KAY.

Jeezus. It’s making me madder as I’m writing about it, ha. (And unfortunately, due to being in public places at the time of this writing, I haven’t even enjoyed the sessy parts — DOUBLE GAH!)

Listen, I LOVED the actors in this show. Take this show with Step By Step, and we’ve had some candy for those of us who really want to see more actors in their 30s and 40s in BLs. I really loved having a show with two fabulous-looking dudes working in work lives, and figuring out their shit in that context.

But The Promise undermined real emotional growth here. Unless Phu, this entire time, was MEANT to be, say, an Arthit-like character from SOTUS — all brick wall, not a single emotional point to give, totally self-absorbed — I mean. Now that I write that, I realize it’s true. He WAS intentionally written like that. I don’t want to believe it, but it has to be that way — for a character to scold his partner after the partner got into a near-death (we assume) plane situation. I’m shaking my damn head.

This show has so much potential. I am absolutely throwing my cup of kopi at the screen. I haven’t felt this negative about a show in a while — and I’m watching SOTUS S. I’m really bummed, because this show could have done so, so much more about internalized fear, maybe even internalized homophobia, and ran with it. It ran away from it.

Khan's name is actually spelled differently in his native language: It's Ka'anh, but pronounced very similar to the human version 'Khan'. As he'd been risen away from his family and grown up within a facility turning selective bred offspring into future soldiers, he's never gotten to know his surname; All he remembers is someone once speaking out his full name when he was very young still - said memory stuck with him and, once he'd arrived on earth after being found / captured by Marcus, he'd heard the names 'Noonien Singh' while watching the daily news report (which he was allowed to consume on a regular basis, to 'sharpen his intellect and offer him knowledge about the world'). Noonien Singh sounded eerily similar to what his childhood memory is made of, so he chose them to become his second- and surname. At the same time, he decided to change the spelling of his first name as well - as a symbolism for cutting ties to a society he's never wanting to return to without giving up his origins completely.

Khan has a massive sweet tooth - he loves everything sweet, including (hard-)candies, chocolate or baked items like pastries. He also enjoys the taste of savory & sweet mixed together, but despises the taste of bitterness.

Despite his extremely regulated, limited and purposeful upbringing (and him needing to become what he was always meant to be), without many chances for children like him to ever live a fulfilling, explorative life, Khan did figure out in his late teens that he's very much not hetersexual.

three things your character likes doing in their free time:

Watching. He loves to watch what happens around him; He watches people, vehicles, nature, the sky, everything. He takes in the sight and saves whatever seems interesting to him inside his mind, gaining both joy and knowledge while doing so.

Listening to music. He realized that some music can, somehow, connect to his emotions, in a way - there's no real 'genre' he's the most fond of, a track just has to 'hit the spot' for him. Sometimes he gets goosebumps from the sensation of listening to it or experiences intense feelings, even though he's unsure why that is.

He's not really actively doing it yet, but he's very much interested in dancing - it combines his love for music with the need to be active, to move his body and get rid of excess energy. Dancing for him is made of logic, rhythm, but also of colorful sounds and variable movements.

eight people your character likes / loves: Khan doesn't have specific people he likes or loves; He also didn't have the time to find any on earth or somewhere else yet after having been captured by Marcus. He sometimes thinks fondly of his mother, even though he's never gotten to know her - but a part of him believes that he can, somehow, remember a few syllables spoken by her voice. It doesn't make much sense, because he'd been an infant when he'd been taken away from her... but still, the (possibly made-up) memory of her comforts him.

Other than that, people he loves or likes are thread / verse dependent (so far, he's feeling very close to @sxbaist, and seems to form a friendship with @noblehcart's Liesel though it's still in the beginning stages. All other threads with other muses are also at the beginning stage so far, but I am looking forward to relationships being formed in them!)

two things your character regrets:

He knows he's never really had a choice, yet he regrets that he's followed his kind's orders to try and become an elite soldier with so much enthusiasm and willpower that he burned himself down in the process; He cannot blame himself, as the whole of his species has been brainwashed for thousands of years and guided by the same power-hungry government, but he does, to a certain extend. His only purpose in life was to become said soldier, there simply was no other purpose existing for him - yet even with how much he struggled, he sadly only realized after failing the last test that he simply was not meant to ever become one of them. Perhaps it would have been better for him to give up and die, and therefore spare himself the experience of all the things that haunt him to this day.

Perhaps a part of him also regrets having fled from his own planet; He'd wanted to escape, but then he's got captured by Marcus, ultimately leading him into a prison cell to become a guinea pig. Oh, if he'd only let himself get killed as the consequence of failing to become his purpose - he wouldn't be where he is now, still trying to fight against what seems to be a curse he carries like a burden on his shoulders. Perhaps his enthusiasm and will to fight has been the curse all along.

two phobias your character has:

Athazagoraphobia: The fear of either being forgotten or forgetting someone / something. He doesn't want either to happen; He's always trying to memorize everyone and everything, as he thinks that knowledge is one of the only powers he holds besides of what his body is capable of. Besides that, he fears that all his effort has been for absolutely nothing if he ceases to exist and no one will ever remember his existence in the first place - which is likely to happen, and he knows that much, yet it makes him feel incredibly uneasy.

Thalassophobia: A persistent and intense fear of deep bodies of water, such as the sea, oceans and lakes. His fear might consist of two parts: 1). The water itself, even though he's not necessarily afraid of its existence, but of the fact that it can suffocate him easily (memories of his past haunt him, with water having been used in his brutal training sessions to make him become better and successful in his tests), and 2). the depth of said bodies of water; Darkness surrounding him the further down he goes, no way for him to know what's around him or which dangers may lurk in the shadows, trying to eat him whole.

uhh ok so. her name is ivory (obviously) and shes from the fnac 2 era so shes lived in the gross ugly abandoned factory her whole life lol

her parents (cindy and blank) built her out of whatever they could find in the factory so shes kind of an amalgam of various parts from different generations of candys. thats not reflected very well in the way i draw her but trust me. it definitely was not something i thought of after i had already redesigned her

its also why shes missing an eye + the suit part(???) on one arm, they jsut couldnt find anything lmaoo. shes technically unfinished but shes Functional so whatever

shes also missing the suit part on her shins similar 2 withered blank so she covers that up with the leg warmer thingies i guess
