i wanted to take a break and do some character design of a few golden guards based off of some of the ones seen briefly in canon. i also drew hunter and caleb as references for faces and stuff. i tried to make them as similar as possible, but also looking very individual to one another. since belos claimed that hunter looks the most like caleb, i tried to stay true to that while keeping the other three looking similar but not quite as identical. anyways i love them <3 they’re like the most mentally ill family ever to me

these weren’t supposed to be real ocs or anything but then i ended up giving them names and backstories and so i wrote a little about them aaaand now im obsessed. i will try to make a full body ref for them, especially alistair and/or constance, if i have time

Hi hi ranting about my spinoff

Just before I say anything, stands in this universe are inherently chemical and can thus be created. Even stand abilities can be extrapolated and replicated, as will be mentioned below. I’m also not even a transhumanist lmao

I got unfortunately named stands in my au. Halfway through one of the guys has to change his stand name because the namesake behind it did something stupid. I like to give stand names to characters based on their morality sometimes. I’ve got an asshole supremacist with an m/s/i stand (you don’t have to say you’re a fan when they only have five good songs at most, if you actually went and listened to them you’d see how dogshit they are. Don’t go and do that though don’t give them money.)

But I also got a main antagonist with a stand named after the sweetest fucking person in the world. So sorry AURORA but you’re a bound stand now. Yeah it’s not fun. The stand never listened to her and was just named that anyway, all caps and everything yes. The user didn’t listen to her either cause she’s DEAD (pillar). It makes me feel bad having this manipulative antagonist that ends up driving a guy crazy (Emporio) be named after her when my protag literally has a Grimes stand.

I’ve got reasons for the Grimes naming scheme that Mayday has and ofc it has to do with a lot of naïve and idealistic transhumanism which is supposed to parallel Magentas same naïve and idealistic industrialism. Maydays relationship with Grimes is a sort of love/hate because:

Mayday actually knows what she’s talking about in terms of transhumanism

Grimes and her *associate* ruined the whole ideology

Mayday knows Grimes was manipulated into the position she’s in, however she continued to drag herself into the ground all by herself so it’s hard to forgive her

Mayday watched her become a sellout in real time, as mentioned above

Mayday knows Grimes still continues to suffer what was forced on her and what gave her that fucked up and stupid view on transhumanism

She knows it’s already too late for her and the damage is already done

And the reason I gave her a stand named like that in the first place is because MAYDAY DIRECTLY PARALLELS GRIMES.

She’s an idealist, transhumanist, and she believes she’s above others. She’s kinda ruining transhumanism aswell with her increasingly predatory attitude towards other stand users. The fact she created Dogmatica (basically Whitesnake) in the first place is worrying, even if it’s made “only for people who can’t survive stand flu,” because her public appearances and comments on stands make it obvious that in one way or another, she’s out for blood. She wants to get rid of too-powerful stands, ones with “the capability of torture.” The frequency of these statements has people wondering when she’ll stop. At what point are stands not capable of torture, and will she just keep going anyway?

Mayday has sought out to put regulations on stands and their uses, and as we’ve seen can absolutely be a good thing and is possibly NEEDED, it’s just the fact that it sounds like she doesn’t intend to stop at any point. There’s no goalpost. She absolutely has a good amount of points and good intentions, but stands are also a part of people, and this gets people a bit put off about her if they think enough about it.

When Mayday actually talks about Grimes and you get her insight, you might think either:

Hey this is mayday being a hypocrite!

Hey does mayday not actually believe in what she’s doing?

And both are completely correct. She’s also a sellout, driven into a shit, despondent, and out of touch state of mind by her surroundings and her superiors. She knows this, and has no idea what to do about it, so she does nothing. All she really sees around her is torture some days. She creates a lot of defensive weapons against stands and actually sells them, and she has halted quite a bit of stand violence, but they insist that as it’s their fighting spirit, that it’s an art form that she’s suppressing. However, she created her own stand, she ‘doesn’t have that culture.’ In fact, when people find out, they don’t think she’s a real stand user at all. That’s toatally not an allusion to anything. This mad (as in angry) scientist totally has no insecurities.

Or you could just call her the onceler I dunno. Alexa play thermodynamic lawyer. AND dead man, don’t forget dead man. Fuck it play kill v maim too.
