Bruce Wayne was not surprised when he got a call from the school his son attended, though it had been a while. Upon answering the phone, he got a weird story.

“I’m sorry, my son is in the nurses office?”

“Another student punched him…”

…

“I’ll be right there, yes.”

Bruce drove to the school from work, and upon entering the building, was led to the nurses office almost immediately, where his son was sat with another child- apparently the kid who punched him.

“Sir, I am SERIOUSLY sorry for punching Damian- I really didn’t mean it-“

“Danny, I have already told you it is alright. Father, it was my fault for his actions towards my person.”

Bruce was surprised. His son called someone by a name that SOUNDED like a nickname, plus he’s immediately taking the blame? What happened.

Yes, Damian has improved greatly since he was brought to the manor (however many years ago), but he still had some… socializing to work on. And he often defended himself still, so these actions, especially together, were rather shocking.

“Dude! I socked you in the face! Why are you still apologizing?”

“I caused a trauma response, Danny. A response that was purely instinctual and not intentional, and therefore, not your fault.” Damian said with his blunt, no- back talk voice that he somehow learned from Alfred (even Bruce hadn’t learned it perfectly yet).

“Yes, but-“

“No. I should not have used your full name, nor touched you when you were not expecting it. I suffered the consequences of my actions. Sure, most people are fine with it, but knowing that you’re rather skittish and defensivewhen your full name comes up in the roster, I could have at least avoided such a mistake.again, it is my fault.”

With this, Damian turned to Bruce.

“Father. I am fine. I did receive a broken nose, yes, but at my own expense. Please. Do not let the school punish my classmate.” Damian said, again using that no nonsense tone.

Bruce was truly shocked, but nodded.

“Of course, Chum. And Danny, was it? You’re not in trouble. Not if I can help it.” Bruce said.

Danny, who was tense the whole time, relaxed slightly.

“T…thank you… sir.”

“Call me Bruce, kiddo.”

Danny's flight or fight response has quite the hair trigger for a few select phrases most being things vlad would say

One such being his full name a bit odd but there's a reason he always asks to be called danny

So really it's not his fault after joining the school in gotham he had been introduced to his class and he'd told them to call him danny

And he hadn't heard him all he'd heard was someone calling him danial and putting a hand on his shoulder

So really he can't be blamed for how he reacted he told everyone not to call him Daniel and he snuck up and called him daniel

How can he be blamed for breaking Damien waynes nose
