in general i roll my eyes at people who complain about all the new quality of life improvements in modern pokémon games bc inconvenience and genuine challenge are two very different things. but the one thing i would definitely agree on that i don’t like in sv is the ability to access your pc boxes any time. it sort of cheapens the experience of having to carefully choose which six pokémon you’re taking before venturing into unknown danger. like i don’t think you should be able to catch a pokémon in the depths of area zero and immediately put it in your party i think you gotta be loyal to whoever you took initially. it’s about being forced to have a plan for all outcomes
#like you can switch your pokémon in the middle of the elite 4… be so real#personally i never did in either of those situations#sv being the first game i played (that had a pokémon league i mean) i didn’t know about the whole type specialist thing#not that i would’ve been able to tell what type those ppl were anyway#but in any case i was like well might as well just stick with my same loyal 6 right#pokémon#sv#in a similar vein i’m kinda unsure about how i feel about being able to remember moves anytime#i think if i could change it i would make it so that you could freely swap moves *at any pokémon center*#like remembering new moves is free but only at certain locations#although one could argue that’s just introducing slight inconvenience without making it more difficult#bc you can fast travel to those places any time#but i guess it would hit you in like area zero#idk#maybe i’d make it so you can do it on the go anytime but it does cost something#but instead of rare difficult (or just plain annoying) once per day items like heart scales#have it be either plain old cash or like. some significantly easier item#idk. the convenience is super nice on that one. but it is kinda weird that it would be so easy to get your pokémon to get its moves back

Maybe I did this to myself but it does irk me when people see me knitting and they ask who it’s for and I say it’s for me and the immediate reaction is “you should sell it” yeah… let me spend at least a week’s worth of my free time making an item I like, want, and would wear just to sell it on etsy, making at most a £2 profit on materials and not being compensated for my time whatsoever 👍🏻
#i say maybe i did this to myself because historically i have gifted most of the items i have knitted#because the venn diagram of things i like to knit vs things i like to wear is actually 2 circles that don’t touch#i looove making hats. i HATE wearing hats#also i love making baby clothes but i don’t have a baby and i’m not going to have a baby#however lately i’ve gotten really into knitting socks and i really like to wear knit socks. it’s like the most affordable way for me to get#quality wool socks. and i’m going to be watching my shows anyway. the time will pass anyways#but it feels like people are deliberately making me feel weird for wanting to make stuff for myself and not profit off my hobby#and like i’ve made 3 pairs of socks to gift already because ‘tis the season or whatever. and i’ve started another pair for a friend whose#birthday is in january#genuinely it’s very weird to hear ‘you should sell it’ or ‘oh i want one!!’ about an item i’m making for myself. after 18 years of gifting#or donating basically everything i’ve ever knitted. like i’ve gifted 2 double bed size crochet blankets#everyone i’ve known who’s had a baby has gotten a cardigan or a blanket or hats or all of the above#i spent october making poppies for the church. i’ve never even stepped foot in my village church mind you. my neighbour asked me to help#do you know what i own? that i’ve knitted? a pair of mittens and a pair of socks.#you want some socks from me? alright. that’s anywhere between £6 and £10 for the yarn and that’s optimistic#i’m currently making myself a pair with hand-dyed yarn that cost me £18 including delivery#the needles i use cost me more than £10. time… let’s call it 24 hours per sock#i don’t know anyone with 18 years experience who makes minimum wage so let’s call it an even 600 for my time. tbh#DO YOU SEE how this isn’t a viable side hussle??? i physically cannot charge what my socks are worth#if i like you and you’re willing to wait; socks are free or cost whatever the yarn costs#if i don’t like or know you venmo me £620. and you’re still going to have to wait.#just pisses me OFF when people suggest i make an etsy page and they say it like they’re doing me a favour or giving me great financial#advice. like you’ve seen me sitting here all evening and i’m barely done with the cuff.. do you actually think selling these for £20 maximum#is going to help me out. i’m not selling them. they’re FOR me. i’m making them because i want them#also when my friend’s family was saying this to me and i was like ‘well the yarn cost a fiver’ and they got quiet and i was thinking yeah…#a fiver is the maximum you cheapskates would pay isn’t it. a fiver is cheap sock yarn bought on sale. or yarn that probably isn’t actually#good for socks. like don’t presume to give me financial advice when you’re this out of touch with the market please#next person who asks when i’m going to start selling socks is getting this whole rant in entirety tbh i don’t care anymore#personal#edited to add that i didn’t even get into etsy fees or whether i would even be noticed among the mountain of dropshippers LOL

I was just thinking what a cool job this might be.. what if you were just the person who makes little still images of cute animal figurines doing various activities to post on social media...? like.. show up to work and just spend the whole day like "hmm... this table should be placed to the left a little.. let me set this miniature bagel down in this way... this tiny rabbit should be wearing a scarf", setting the backgrounds, the lighting, etc. ... dream job perhaps lol...
#I'm sure it probably doesnt pay much lol#but.. maybe in some ideal world..#with my health and mental conditions and level of functioning there are VERY few Jobs I could actually EVER manage aside from#just being self employed and being able to set my own hours somehow etc... But every once in a while I come across something like this#and it's like... hrmm.... Yes... perhaps if I could align myself in this hyper specific scenario under hyper specific conditions in a#precise and predictable way and everything worked out perfectly and I had all the accomodations I might need.. maybe I could#do THAT thing then .. lol#Not just generally a 'social media manager' or something. I think that would drive me into the throes of madness#but SPECIFICALLY 'person who makes the images for the calico critters social media' and also#the place i have to go to do that is either my home or within walking distance of my home and also i rarely have to interact#with others aside from the posts probably going through some approval process and initial ideas where they tell me what#type of scene to make and also i somehow make $90.000 a year doing this for only 4 days a week with frequent sick breaks#dreamy sigh and so on and so forth and such and so on#ANYWAY........#the idea of meticulously placing little pastries and miniature crayons and stuff around all day until the scene is perfectly crafted.. SO#SO so appealing to me... like designing environments in the sims except it's real and tangible.. And also imagine having access#to the FULL library of miniature items. to me that would be just as good as owning them#Like.. I get to use them and make little scenes with them and hold them and stare at them and everything except also#they're all kept at work so I don't have boxes of clutter filling home.#unlimited access to every little miniature food ever crafted yet none of the downsides (purchase cost and storage)#etc. etc. ANYWAY ...#Chuckling confidently as I add this onto the 'List Of ''Real'' Jobs I Could Do' which is just a notebook sheet of paper with only like 5#other similarly unlikely hyperspecific scenarios scribbled down

#also never shopping in my nearest town again maybe#i saw my cousin's ex who lives an hour away and her friend together which is so....... like wow i really thought i'd seen the last of him#very messy situation#started talking to a cashier/stocker i've spoken with on occasion for several years and she showed me some of her art & poetry (???)#got in line in front of one of my former classmate's dads who tried to proposition me right after my mom died#went to the new dollar store which has four self checkouts & one manned‚ tried to use a self checkout and the cashier said#'we don't have self checkouts' i said 'do you mean today or period' she said 'period' and we discussed how badly that's got them fucked up#they're literally running one of the self checkouts as a manned checkout when things get busy like...#and it was JUST built!! like just less than a year ago i think#i always come home from that town wanting to pull my hair out it's sooo strange!! like everything is craaazy#i also got fucking scammed!#i forgot to check until just now but the grocery store likes to run a weekly sale then not update the computers to reflect it#like they've done this for years and years#and i paid $1.99/lb for apples that were marked down to $1.12/lb so i overpaid a damn dollar#during the panini when it was my only source of groceries sometimes the difference would literally be like $50 because of big ticket items#i'd usually walk out‚ unload and read the receipt‚ then walk back in and get my refund. every friday.#and if i didn't i'd be out like $100/month for nothing on top of everything costing double what it did in the city#that place is fucking cursed. like there's just layers and layers of misery covering every surface.#adam yaps

after the knitting project i just finished i feel fairly confident in saying that one day i will open up a knitting etsy shop :)
#dichromaticdyke.exe#yes it will be mtl/dethklok themed#would probably only be able to do limited runs of each item...could MAYBE do a couple made to measure pieces on commission#but also for more popular stuff i'd be willing to sell the patterns so ppl could make them themselves! we'll have to see#all i know is i LOVE the design i just finished and i have enough yarn to make at least 2 more of it#the only thing that would suck is figuring out pricing since reimbursing myself fairly would NOT match up with what ppl are willing to pay.#i didn't actually time how long it took to make but i'd have to estimate around 15 hours? i think? idk lol. but assuming that...#for minimum wage plus cost of materials i would have to charge $240. and no one will want to pay that lmfao. $30 is probably fine.

Been playing duel links recently, but the only other tcg I’ve played and still remember the rules of is Pokémon. Needless to say ive been loosing a lot of online duels.
Now normally i wouldn’t care too bad, id tweak my deck and move on to the next duel. The thing is tho im playing as yugi and holy shit, all of his loosing dialogue, and even his loosing portrait is so fucking pathetic. Like i love you yugi but can you chill on the self deprivation for ten seconds??? You’re making me feel like i stepped on a pet’s tail every time i lose, i cannot take it and i will cry
#for anyone who’s unfamiliar w pokemon tcg#all decks are 60 cards exactly and your best bet is to pack as many item cards as possible in there#if you dont get a starting hand with a Pokémon you can use right away you get to shuffle your starting hand into your deck and draw#a new one#and like half the item cards (function like spells) are for drawing many cards at no cost#ygo has very different rules tho#and building a deck with a bunch of cards with a ton of spells n traps#does not work out very well#anyways i digress#yugi please go to therapy you’re making me feel actual empathy towards your game avatar#every time i match against someone using yami yugi my brain is all like#if we beat him then maybe yugi will have better self esteem?#i bet he’ll feel so happy and proud of himself and-#girl he is not REAL#yeah im mentally ill how’d you guess?#ygo#ygo duel links#yugioh#yugioh duel links

Geez new games are so expensive these days. I'm waiting to get Veilguard but even at 35% off, it's still over $50CAD—about what a new AAA game cost less than 10 years ago.
#not surprising given the release/base price is asinine#but i'm used to such discounts meaning a *new* game is $40 or less#the only game i bought at full price recently was bg3 and that's 'cause i knew i'd get my money from it#and sold a bunch of tf2 items to help offset the cost#ah well i expected to wait longer than this for it to reach a price i can justify#and aaa publishers wonder why they aren't getting the sales they want#maybe if your game didn't cost as much as a week's worth of groceries during a cost of living crisis/~9% of pwd#people would be more inclined to buy it outside of sales#especially now that season passes/dlc is so common and that's another $30+ on top of the base price
