[i hope you like it!!]
you’d absolutely love to believe that what you heard last night wasn’t what happened but as your mind goes over the previous night as you fought yourself to stay awake during your fathers little class your brain couldn’t forget the continuous moans and little yells that you heard from a few rooms across from your own at the mansion for a good hour or two last night. you can’t help but figure out that logan most certainly found jean and just thinking about it made you feel sick. scott being the main thing on your brain after you got over the fact logan most definitely fucked jean last night.
she was a cheater. what else could you expect? your thoughts swirling in your brain causing an indescribable amount of heart ache as you kept yourself completely quiet and withdrawn from whatever was going on in this lesson, rogue clearly being able to tell you were off as she glanced at bobby giving him a look you picked up on — him shrugging his shoulders in return as you cursed your sadness for being so obvious.
just the thought of jean and logan staring at eachother hurt you but her touching him, his hands over her skin, her lips on his, his mind only on her in that moment and his gaze locked into hers as she let him take her yet again enraged you to another level it was a struggle not to jump into his mind and find out exactly what happened but you couldn’t, you wouldn’t. your brain fighting with your heart in every way as you felt sick with all those pictures of the scenario you were forming for yourself.
so from that knowledge as you sat in class you knew you needed to stop liking him for good. he didn’t like you, he was throwing it in your face. you heard it all and it hurt you too much to bare. you didn’t even wanna look at him — that single thought of contact sending you crazy. you couldn’t even bring yourself to see him today. you didn’t want too, you couldn’t. seeing jean as you passed through the kitchen earlier was enough to make you nearly cry and immediately stop that tiny breakfast you had made.
you really couldn’t deal with this. one bit. you never did well with emotional pain — physical was something you could endure, yet emotional was always something you couldn’t stomach ever since you were a little girl.
+ੈ✩‧₊˚
you'd been avoiding him like the plague. literally. whenever you saw him at the end of the halls you'd turn the other away, force a little smile and act like you had somewhere to go if you were in conversation and it had been like that for two weeks. two weeks had passed since one of your normal conversations, the friendly chats you admired in your brain and made out to be more, the little touches he'd give you that you couldn't comprehend was only a friend thing to do, the way he'd hug you.. the deep conversations, the way he'd sometimes kiss your forehead before you left for bed, watching the rain together and just joking together all something you had put in the past. that had been gone for two weeks and to say it was breaking you would be an understatement.
you could tell others has noticed the practical borderline dissociation within you since you had been a little mute recently not that it was specially due to logan (it completely all was) but you didn't want it to be obvious, you hated that it could be perceived that way so you knew you had to do something about it. who knew heartache for one that didn't love you back could destroy you this badly from the inside out?
.. and today was no different on the logan front. you saw him once today in the halls ushering something to hank — the two in bustling conversation and you made sure not to risk it by going to class, to upset over it all to deal with another short horrible conversation where you were nothing but cold to him as you tried to cut down any romantic feelings you had for him. every time you spoke now you could see the confusion and frustration in his eyes, the mental image to much to bare as you went on hiding in your room and pondering and that’s where you had been since — buried in clothing choices as you tried to stomach down the anxiety that had been growing in you over the fact it was jeans birthday party today and you would have to make an appearance after you had been a hermit since you’d got your heart broken by a guy that didn’t even know. rogue and bobby being the only two people you had really spoke too since the shut down yet their concern had been growing annoying as rogue clearly told bobby about the little crush she could’ve guessed, and got out of you when the two of you were high together a few months ago, you had on logan. bobby actually giving you little options of guys you could date to get over someone which was all you needed to hear when you realised rogue had told him as he literally mentioned hank who they knew you recently hiked with since he had been bothering you over your melancholy, yet you had left before it was a full fledge little argument.
just the thought of having to socialise with him and the others and step out of the hole you’d built for yourself to hide in irritated you especially for jean of all people’s party, your ‘smidge’ of hatred for the woman who had really been rude to you since she’d known you not because of logan, because god on that front she wins and it feels like she’s married to him despite her ties to scott, but on the power front. she knew you had powers incomparable to hers that you hardly even showcased magneto being someone who taught you many things when you were younger, your own parents being raven and charles. of course you had powers which were indescribable.
and most of the time you wanted to use it on that bitch. you were lucky she couldn’t get into your twisted mind to find that fact out.
you let out a little sigh as you decided on the black mini skirt and sweater — you finally having an excuse for the fall outfit and lack of dress because it was october which has always been your favourite season and best time of year yet this year that didn’t apply because you haven’t been hardly able to enjoy it because of isolation you’d forced yourself into.
y/n had to swallow her own self pity down as she leaned over to her perfume bottle on the drawer next to her mirror as she took in the image of her body in the skirt. her shrinking body, a scoff leaving her lips as she wasn’t happy with what she saw in the reflection. she never could be. the aroma of the perfume not masking her feelings at all as she put on some dc martens paired with black tights. the perfect little outfit yet she was sure jean would be outshining her on that front. god she didn’t even wanna imagine logan’s eyes being locked onto jean tonight, the heart ache already unbearable to comprehend as she swallowed a lump that formed in her throat. that aching feeling hadn’t gone away since the start of knowing logan the way she did, maybe that was a sign from the people above about how destined it was.. or how not it was.
these muddled thoughts led her too some early drinking as if she wouldn’t be getting shitfaced later. pregaming alone which is a bit self pity full as she swallowed the burning liquor down her throat, the whiskey hitting her softly and slowly enough to give her the confidence to leave her room twenty minutes later for this party.
+ੈ✩‧₊˚
the decorations were perfect, the present corner was overflowing and the students and people were everywhere. jean being clearly the popular girl from the looks of this party, as if y/n already didn’t know that, as the blasting music just made her more aware of the scenario she was in as she fought the urge to look around the room for logan as she went straight over to the bar that had been made. the party was the perfect one a girl, woman, could ask for and y/n could feel the jealously bubbling already that she bit down as she forced a friendly smile to join her lips.
walking through the dancing groups of people, there hardly even being any spaces to walk unless you wanted to bump into a coked up or insanely drunk teenager or wade. who she was lucky to get past without having to talk to yet, no matter how much she did like and enjoy his company she couldn’t deal with his jokes right now which she could guess who’d they’d be centered around, she knew he knew to some extent she was just lucky he hadn’t out rightly said it. that would be too much pity for her to deal with, that coming from wade being another level of pathetic.
the second she leant against the bar she managed to grab the busy barmaids attention giving her a soft nod and polite smile as she didn’t notice the figure beside her as she asked for a coke and vodka.
“thank god you’re showing your face — i thought i was going to have to clone you to get a good conversation.” hank rolled out his tipsiness showing as he pulled y/n into a tight hug when he was sat down on the stool. y/n letting out a low chuckle as she hugged him back nicely, his presence being a little surprise she tried not to seem so bothered about.
“hiya hank.” y/n said softly as the barmaid came over with her drink, placing it next to her. “thanks.” y/n nodded out as hank placed his hand on the stool next to him as she immediately grabbed it and took a swig.
“come! sit.” he ushered in with a drunken smile on his face, a bright one as usual, as he patted the bar stool next to him inviting her to sit and before y/n could even speak up in reply as she slid down on the stool hank bit in.
“where the hell have you been?” he abruptly said bluntly, putting a little look on his face off one that’s pissed off as y/n felt the guilt rush through her as she wrapped her fingers around the glass drowning her truth in the drink as she took a big sip off the liquor acting as if that didn’t taste appalling as she shrugged her shoulders at hanks obvious question which has an obvious answer to that she’d play off as a stupid claim if questioned about it.
“—i’ve been busy! controlling powers— small missions, and that.” y/n lied out.
hank furrowed his eyebrows at his words, giving her a knowing look before he shook his head swiftly at what she said. seeing right through her little lie he truly knew nothing much about what the truth was or not as he took a little sip of his beer.
“i know you but i’m not pushing it— rather you bite of logan’s heads rather then mine.” hank said out lowly as y/n’s eyebrows furrowed at his comment as a look of confusion spread over her face at the mention of him but before she could question hank on it she was met with two hands around her waist, pulling her tightly back purposely.
“hello pretty little liars, you’re aria?” wade said loudly into her ear his drunkenness obvious as y/n scoffed, him clearly stating that because her outfit choice as he squeezed her even tighter y/n’s eyes rolling as she elbowed him playfully back as his hands on her faltered as he playfully shoved her back.
“—elsa! you made it snow yet?” y/n said back to him as she was met with the sound of his laughter as he pulled on the stool next to y/n, making the guy who was sat on it mutter a curse before wade sent him a glare and then went speed walking away clearly a boy as young as fourteen or thirteen who just got the shit scared out him for, wade’s harsh look as he sqt down on the stool as he met y/n’s gaze.
“you know i have honey.” he nodded out with a smirk as hank leaned into the twos space.
“shots anyone?” hank rolled out, fixing his glasses as wade enthusiastically said a quick yes, y/n adding to the fire. “—very much needed.” y/n drove out as wade sent her a little look of knowing yet he held back the urge to call her out on it. he was being a ‘good’ friend in his eyes anyway, he didn’t wanna hear her say things about logan when he knew a few things himself on how the other party felt.
hank calling the barmaid over as wade pulled y/n’s stool closer to his that knowing look still present on his face as he played with the knowledge he had a bit just in a little playful way.
“you seen the birthday girl yet?..gave her a gift?” wade said sarcastically knowing the two didn’t really see eye to eye on a LOT of things as y/n gave him a little glare, him having been present for many of their little disagreements.
“luckily i haven’t, as i’ve brung nothing.” y/n rumbled back as wade nudged her playfully with her words as hank grabbed the tray of shots from the barmaid— y/n’s eyes widening once she saw how many shots he had ordered. “fifteen?” y/n broke out with a raised eyebrow as hank chuckled as he took one, downing it straight away before grabbing another as wade spoke up cockily.
“who’s pants are you trying to get into?” wade rolled out, his voice sly as he grabbed two for himself as y/n leaned over and took one ready to get shitfaced, maybe that’d stop her mind from falling back onto logan every other second her longing heart internally hating this situation more and more as she yearned to see him but she bit back the urge to even look around for him. halting that urge by taking a shot.
“preferably anyone with a pulse and no dick between their legs.” hank said right as y/n took another shot, her nearly choking on the burning liquid which was a horrible mix of vodka and god knows what.
“i can tuck.” wade said lowly as this made it worse, y/n nudging wade, shaking her head as she held back her laugh as she swallowed the shot she just took. “disgusting!” she rolled out as she took another, downing it before placing the shot down on the table.
“ah! sweeties jealous.” wade spoke up sarcastically with that all familiar cocky smile on his face with that teasing glint in his eyes as he handed another shot y/n’s way as she took it gracefully as they all cheersed their glasses together. that being just one of the about eight times they did that within the next thirty to sixty minutes as y/n bit back her thoughts with copious amounts of shots and soon enough they had gone through a good four or so tray off shots and a few drinks each.
every passing minute y/n felt her mind get closer and closer to the edge as every time she felt that aching feeling grow she’d swallow it back with another sip of liquor or large shot — wades jokes passing the time and hanks yapping and her own occasional drunken chime in making her mind a mess as hank got another row of shots.
the songs and wade and hank’s voices becoming a blur in y/n’s mind as she swallowed nothing but the truth with those shots. every sip feeling like more heartache she couldn’t stop having.
+ੈ✩‧₊˚
y/n was practically stuck too the bar stool, her eyes scanning the crowd occasionally (by occasionally around five times if not more a minute) as she looked for him. her mind lingering on a certain someone as it always tended to do the liquor just amplifying those feelings as hank spoke up.
“you know— you look like your mum.”
his words caused y/n’s attention to snap over to hank as she raised an eyebrow, wade making a little ‘oo’ in the background even if he couldn’t help but agree with his comment as he sipped on the cocktail he had ordered a few drinks previously that had just been laying there on the side. the bartender making a fuck ton of profit from these three miserables.
“very dead?” y/n said sarcastically as hank gave her a little look — clearly a little annoyed she didn’t take the comment seriously as he leaned a little closer to her.
“beautiful you idiot.” hank added out, his words making her eyebrows furrow a bit as she took in his drunken words as she gave him a little a smile — swallowing the depreciating joke she was close to making as she took a sip of her drink.
“thank you hank.” y/n nodded out calmly as wade butted in.
“—fucking hell, incoming for angry jacob twilight wannabe.” wade cursed out as y/n’s gaze moved over wade following his eyes to where he was looking, her heart feeling as if it was flipping and twisting in her chest as she watched logan walk into the bar games room as she furrowed her eyebrows at the sight of jean following him angrily. her looking perfect as ever.
yet before y/n could think another thought she locked eyes with logan from across the room — their eyes meeting as she felt a weight lift immediately onto her as she swallowed a lump that formed in her throat at just the sight of him. it felt as if time has frozen just as they looked to each other , his eyes taking everything about her in as she did the same his way.
he practically immediately walked over, more like stomped over, as he seemed clearly agitated. more then usual as his eyes dawned onto wade and hank before resting back to y/n as he stopped in his tracks in front of the seated three.
“who thought getting a teenager shitfaced was a good idea?” logan nearly growled out, giving wade a glare as y/n’s eyes lingered back on jean who saw who he was talking to and turned away her being even more pissed then him, y/n holding the urge to go into her mind and find out why as she brung her gaze onto logan after seeing jean walk off somewhere else in the room, her patience clearly wearing thin. her wanting to make a little childish comment about how she wasn’t when wade spoke up.
“gods probably.” wade rolled out in reply as logan scoffed at what he said.
“y/n.” logan said, her eyes meeting his own as she took in his appearance. her eyes lingering on the chain that was wrapped around his neck — one he told her was something jean gave him when he first became an xmen, something he hasn’t worn in months, this fact only making her feel a number of horrible thoughts as she grabbed her drink and took a mean swig. swallowing her own building self pity as she forced a fake smile logan immediately knew to be fake.
“hi.” she said swiftly after she put her drink back down on the table — his eyebrow raising a little at her hostility as he looked to wade, hank the back to her.
“uh—“ logan spoke up, trying to find the words to say as he looked at her a bit lost for words at how she was acting as he swallowed a lump that had formed in his throat — feeling his frustration rise as he tried to control it, “where have you been?” he said lowly, hank raising his eyebrow at how this little conversation seemed weirdly tension filled. wade knew why, he could’ve called her little feelings for him back when she first met the guy but now he couldn’t help see how serious it was because off the way she was looking at him and how it was affecting her.
he couldn’t even brung himself to but in as he buried himself in his drink. hank doing the same.
“i’ve been busy. but i’ve been around— i saw you two days ago.” she said quickly, shifting in her seat a little as his eyes almost felt as if they burnt through her.
“you didn’t stay,” he said taking a pause as he looked at her, taking in just how intoxicated she seemed as he tried to analyse it, “like you uh- normally, do.”
his words touched a nerve on y/n as she felt that all familiar heart ache grow y/n trying to act as if the feeling inside her wasn’t killing her right now and ripping her to shreds as she kept her gaze on him, his eyes on her making her think and feel a number of things she hated.
“—had somewhere to be.” she replied quickly, his eyebrows raising at her bluntness to her reply as he knew something was off. he sensed it, the drunkness only adding to his worry as he went to step closer when he was cut off by a voice behind him.
y/n eyes dawned on the sight off jean, a tight silver dress on showcasing her curves as her red hair flowed down by her side as she looked at logan who hadn’t even brung himself to met her gaze yet. y/n immediately being hit with a truck load of insecurities just with a glance to the older women who had the only guy she’d ever loved wrapped around her finger.
y/n’s heart feeling as if it was stepped on as she kept her gaze on him — time feeling a little slow motion.
“logan—now.” jean said harshly.
“lo- logan.” she said again, y/n not leaving logan’s gaze as he swallowed his own spit as he eventually brung his gaze over to jean.
“logan— he knows.” she said harshly, her words a little quiet as they were clearly just meant for logan’s ears yet y/n heard them. “now! come on?” she questioned out frustratedly, saying that to grip his attention as logan looked to jean then back to y/n, wade and hank watching like it was a drama.
the air felt thick with some sort of something as y/n swallows, her eyes on him as he bit down on the inside of his cheek.
“be careful kid, remember to slow down.” he rolled out before he turned away with jean going right to her side as y/n scoffed as he walked off turning her attention back to the barmaid — not feeling logan’s eyes burning back to her as he took a long glance her way before disappearing off with jean into the party to sort whatever was happening.
y/n rolled her eyes the second she turned her attention back over to the bar as she looked down at the bar table, swallowing her thoughts down with the rest of her vodka as she felt the others eyes on her. they sensed on the tension — it was impossible not too.
“so they’re fucking again.” hank commented lowly and cluelessly. his words being like a gut punch to y/n as she bit down on her tongue as she called back over the barmaid, leaning over and ordering a couple shots as she sat back down in her seat.
“mm, most definitely.. hell for scott.” wade ushered out lowly, feeling a sense of guilt as he saw the way y/n’s eyes fell as y/n tried to mute out their conversation in the background as she welcomed the shots with open arms as she pulled the tray closer to her as she heard wade and hank whisper behind her as they leant over to gossip about the rumours of jean and scott being over as y/n’s heart felt as if it was plummeting and beating as fast as it ever had with every shot she took. the information she was hearing just making her internal pain grow worse as she tried to drink it away every shot seemingly enhancing her hurt as the metal images she were getting hurt her brain as she felt the urge to do something about it.
her mind full of relentless unlimited thoughts that were screaming at her as she placed the last empty shot glass she had down — the shots helping limit the voices to some extent as the barmaid came over and refilled them without another word most likely sensing her anguish as y/n nodded to her with as much of a smile she could muster up as she thought back to the conversation with logan.
“we’re going to dance— you coming?” wade spoke to y/n as that brung her out her gaze with the bottom of the shot glass as she shook her head, “no—thanks,” she slurred out as hank gave her a small nod and pat on the shoulder before they disappeared of into the crowd leaving her alone after saying their be right backs— her lips immediately around another glass as she finished the rest of the drinks thay were laid out in front-of her.
y/n either needed fresh air and a sick bucket or the man she loved and craved, and she was going with the latter. her desires only heightened which was making just about everything worse due to the mess the alcohol had started to cause her brain and body.
her heart pounding as she stood up, everything going messy and spin like as she stumbled through the crowd. her mind on one thing and one thing only, one person, as she got pushed around a bit by the dancing people as she made her way out the bar room she was in. her eyes searching the place as she looked for him in every corner, in every face, every person, every laugh, every grunt and every noise. she was searching for him like she had been doing within her heart ever since she’d know the man.
yet what she didn’t expect to see when she turned the corner was him right there. logan right there in his bubble of perfection as she saw it. her eyes taking him in as she saw him in the hallway — a smile joining her lips as she started to walk over to him planning what she was going to say in her brain. how she was going to do any of this? she didn’t even know what she had planned, she just wanted to speak to him. she needed to see his smile. she missed it. she wanted to make him laugh like usual, she wanted to kiss him, feel his touch. she needed it, it was destroying her to not have him. why was she ignoring him for the past two weeks? she should just tell him. nothing bad could hap—
“mine.” she swore she could make out logan saying, her eyebrows furrowing in pure confusion as she took one little step closer to where he was as her eyes dawned on a certain red head with a killer smirk on her lips as she had a tight grip on his chain.
and with that every thought she just had was crushed within the space of five or so seconds as she heard jean’s light hearted chuckle next, her voice grating against y/n’s mind as she swallowed her own spit back down as she made sure she couldn’t be seen by them. feeling the sick feeling rising in her as she watched logan’s hands wrap around jean’s waist as she pulled him closer to her in a teasing action that broke y/n’s heart in two.
she was frozen in her tracks, watching as the one she loved was with the one he loved.
“you’re mine.” ringing in her ears as she just made out what he had said to jean as his words sent a chill through y/n’s body as she felt the tears start to boil in her eyes as she couldn’t tear her eyes away from the scene. her mouth fallen gap as she watched as he roughly had her against the door jean’s hand going down to the handle of said door as y/n watched as jean pulled him in the room with her roughly.
the door slamming behind them as she felt her beating out her chest, her breath shaky and hitched as she swallowed.
and when she heard a little squeal come from the room over the music a few seconds or minutes later, she couldn’t tell how long had passed, that’s when she knew she needed to go before she turned into a public laughing stock as she turned on her heel — shakily making her way through the crowd again, unbeknownst to the tears dropping down her cheeks as she fought her way through the dancing crowd as she tried to get the hell out of here as she thought she was fighting back her emotions, yet she really wasn’t doing too good of a job with it.
“watch it!” someone yelled out over the music to y/n as she shuffled past them quickly, stumbling out and disappearing through the back door as she made her break for it. her heart feeling broken to an extreme it hadn’t felt before which was only amplified by the alcohol as she felt her brain chemistry formed for logan be destroyed within a matter of moments. seeing it in front of her own eyes being completely different from assuming it had happened.
the fact they were doing that right now she just couldn’t and didn’t want too comprehend it. it hurting her so much she felt as if she was going to be sick, she could feel it to the extremist point that when she managed her way to the end of the courtyard where her little spot was with her childhood swing set, where she’s surprised she even remembered the whereabouts off in this state, she couldn’t stop herself from leaning down into a bush shakily.
her mouth watering, her throat burning with liquid as y/n threw up into the bush her heart pounding ridiculously as she felt the tears burning against her cheek as she didn’t even notice the feeling off two strong hands holding her hair back. her body shaking as she kept being sick, feeling the acid burn her throat as she felt a strong hand round her hair pulling it into a ponytail and another hand around her fragile body to keep her up.
her body flinching a little at the touch as the person leaned a little closer as y/n was sick some more, “it’s okay—“ a low voice ushered out as y/n couldn’t help be sick again, leaning down closer into the bush nearly tripping into it as the person held her upright. their hand snacking onto her waist as y/n leaned back into their touch. basically tripping into it as she let out a shaky breath as she wiped her mouth with the sleeve of her top.
her eyes moving up onto an all familiar face and she instantly cursed in her brain as he managed to move her over to the swings, sitting her down in one of two seats as she clung to the chain of it leaning her body against it freely as she let out a little cry.
“you’re good.” scott said softly his voice low as he spoke into a comforting tone that didn’t completely soothe her as she felt the tears trail down her cheek as he kneeled down — his hands stabilising the swing that was rocking a little as he looked up at her making sure she was okay on the swing. the cold air hitting the twos faces as the moon shone down on the courtyard, the faint sound of pop music from the mansion being completely distant to both of them.
“scott.” she managed to say, him being able to tell how far gone she was by the way she slurred her words as if her crying and throwing up didn’t prove that enough. his eyes on her as he moved her hair out the way for her, tucking a strand of her hair behind her ear as she held back a little sob which wasn’t held back that well as she let out a shaky whimper.
“w-why— doesn-t he love me?” she spoke out quickly, her breath shaky and her voice high pitched as she let out little sniffles in between words, the weight of those making a sad smile tug on scott’s lips as he kept his hand on her face trying to keep her upright which was sort of impossible as he kept his comforting warm hand against her face. just trying to make her feel okay.
“—he—“ scott cut himself off before he moved closer to her, trying to keep her calm, “he does love you okay?”
y/n shook her head at scott’s words as she let out a muffled sob against her wrist, shaking her head as scott wiped the tears from her cheeks. “not like i want him to.” she rolled out in a slur, scott feeling his heart beat quicken at her little admission as if he didn’t know how she felt over him before as he moved his finger across her cheek in a soft circular motion, his hand cupping her jaw.
“hey- he does okay?” scott said quickly as he moved her jaw down so she met his eyes again, his tone soft as he moved himself to the other swing next to her — the second he was sat him moving his swing closer to her own. tangling the chains of his swing up a little in doing so.
“he does.” scott added out again, y/n not believing him at all as she swallowed a lump that had formed in her throat as she leaned herself again the hand that was cupping her face as she nearly tumbled off the swing.
her biting down on her tongue as she let out a little squeal as scott placed his hand on her back supporting and holding her up as a little chuckle left her lips as she leaned forward a little. scott not letting his hand move as worry was evident on his face as y/n turned to him a sad smile on her lips, tears still evident on her face.
“i wish.” he heard her whisper as he swallowed, his own voice breaking a little, “come on. okay? he doesn’t know what he’s missing right now.— he doesnt see you liking him.” scott said softly, giving her a little playful nudge as y/n started to lose the energy to even speak off it as she felt another tear slip down her cheek.
his words were taking the weight off her shoulders as she moved in the swing a little, scott’s comforting hand on her back which was now sort off around her waist making her sure she wasn’t going to fall as she moved a tiny bit closer to him on her swing. their swings touching a little.
“you deserve better then jean-y bitch.” she managed out lowly, scott not being able to help the chuckle that escaped his lips at how she put it as he looked out at the mansion in front of them. the moon present in his red tinted glasses.
“yeah— i’m starting to realise that.” he chuckled out as y/n gave him a drunken smile in return as she locked eyes with scott. someone she’d hardly noticed was this nice mostly due to the words logan remarked about him all the time as her smile couldn’t help but grow as she looked at him. the air softening between the two as y/n felt tiredness fall over her as she leant against the chains a little as she slowly moved her gaze over to the moon.
a few moments of silence passes before scott spoke up.
“y/n?” scott managed out trying to grab her attention as he saw he eyes wondering a bit. his eyebrows furrowing when he heard no answer in return, her silence scaring him as he nudged her.
“y/n?” he quickly said out once again, nudging her a little as he saw how limp her body was and noticed her closed eyes.
“fuck— y/n.” he ushered out quickly as he stood from his seat and went right to her side as he kneeled down, tapping her face to try and catch her attention. y/n stirring a little at his action as he stood up, pulling her up with him as he placed his hand around her waist as he tried to shake her a little which did the job as her eyes fluttered open to meet his own.
a drunken smile joining on her lips as a tear dropped down her cheek that she didn’t even notice as she chuckled a little, leaning close to him as she swayed a little.
“scott.” she said lowly as scott gave her a low chucke as she placed her arm around him drunk on, him wiping the tear of her cheek softly something he’d done a number of times since being in her presence tonight.
“okay it’s time to go sleep— im taking you to bed.” he explained softly as y/n looked at him with a little furrowed brow as he started to walk, helping her walk alongside him her hardly even able to realise she was walking as she leaned against his touch.
“you’re good.” he said calmly to her as they walked through the dark courtyard, the illuminated by the moon field of grass between them and the bustling school /xmansion being the only light to guide them. his grip on her tightening softly when she nearly tripped over her own feet, a low chuckle escaping his lips as he realised just how long of a walk it was to the mansion. him sighing as he held her upright. “nearly there.” he muffled out as y/n leaned to him.
“—‘m gonna be sick.” she quickly flushed out before throwing her head over in the other direction as scott patted her back and stopped in his tracks at her words as she was sick again — him holding the urge got to be sick too because the smell as he focused on helping her. his heart skipping a beat bit as he felt his anger growing over logan putting her in this situation where she was so drunk she was being sick or the fact that she was being sick just thinking about logan it made his blood boil as he felt his jaw clench — his eyebrows twitching as he helped her get it all out, whispering little comforts as he soothed her back.
“good girl. “ he said lowly as y/n brung her gaze into him once more him giving her a small sad smile as he placed his hand back around her waist to guide her, “cmon, bed.” he whispered out to her as they started walking again. having to go through the party definitely going to be a difficult task as scott tightened his grip around her waist as they walked past a couple people hanging around the outside area of the building as the music met y/n’s ears as once they got into the building scott called for people to move out the way as he made y/n stay close to him. her eyes wondering over everyone in her drunken haze as scott helped her over to the staircase which was through a couple wide, filled rooms.
her swearing she came across wade and hank in the corner with two twins and colossus’s doing a certain something to wade, her eyebrows furrowing at what she believed to have just seen as she shook it off as she met scott’s words.
“you need to be carried or are you okay?” scott asked as if he was babying her which sent a wave of comfort through her body as she let the question hang in her brain as she tried to form answer to it as she leaned herself against scott.
“‘u—‘i can—“
“scarlett?” logan roughly called out in a raised voice towards scott as he came over out of nowhere. scott rolling his eyes as he quickly picked y/n up, y/n being in scott’s arms as her eyes fluttered open to see logan to the side of them. scott’s jaw immediately clenching as he continued up the stairs without cracking a word to logan as he rushed after the pair. his own anger frustratingly high as he tried to control himself and stop himself from doing anything stupid.
“scott?” logan said harshly, his anger growing as he didn’t get an answer as he tried to get the man to look at him.
“lo-“ y/n slipped out, her voice muffled as she leaned into scott’s arms more as he carried her bridal style up the stairs. her realising his presence, logan’s eyes casting onto y/n and then back to scott. his eyes darkening.
“what have you done to her?!” logan rushed out, his voice cracking with worry as scott ignored his words as he made it to the top of the stairs and continued on down to where he’s pretty sure her room is.
“scott!” logan shouted again trying to get his attention as scott opened the door with his back, giving logan a harsh glare as he walked right over to the bed where he placed y/n down carefully on it. her drunken self pouring the cover over her figure as she rolled over in bed. letting out a little muffled whimper as her head laid on the pillow.
the second scott having let go off y/n he immediately turned to logan scott not giving logan another chance to talk before he connected his fist with his jaw, logan been taken aback a little as he raised an eyebrow, scott looking right at him as logan pushed him back harshly.
“what the fuck did you do?” logan cursed out quickly, scott scoffing as he held back taking his glasses off because of the fact it was a party, not logan’s funeral even despite how much he wanted it to be.
“you should ask yourself that, prick.” scott said harshly. logan’s eyebrows raising at his words as scott pushed himself past logan without another word.
logan immediately grabbing scott’s arm harshly, his claws aching to come out as he met his gaze.
“what do you mean by that?” logan said quickly, his eyes locked onto scott’s as so many questions flowed his brain. his thoughts enlaced with y/n and the worry he had for the girl as scott harshly brung his hand back to his side after shaking logan’s grip off — giving logan a stern look as he looked him up and down judgementally, “god, you are so stupid. you’d think being born in the 19th century would make you slightly smarter then a twenty nine year old.” scott scoffed out lowly, his words only angering logan more as he shoved scott against the wall.
his claws extending as he pressed them close to his throat — his threat there as scott swallowed.
“tell me.” he said harshly as scott couldn’t help a certain look cross his face. completely frustrated by logan, his heart aching for jean in this moment as he stared at what she had clearly picked over himself that enraging him yet also y/n and what she had just gone through herself. the heart ache something he could relate too and he wouldn’t wish that on anyone. yet right now he would logan however.
“she saw you and jean you idiot. meaning i did too. meaning— fuck you.” scott said quickly as he clicked his visor getting the right aim, logan jumping back as scott lazered his chest. his beam going right through as a loud grunt escaped his lips as logan in immediate retaliation clawed scott in the side, scott pushing back the whimper threatening to leave his lips as logan as he got ready to take another shot at the man.
logan raising his eyebrow as the two stared eachother down, “i’ll heal,” logan rolled out his words only angering scott worse as he went to raise his glasses again as logan roughly placed his hand on his chest to stop him, his claws retracted back in.
“i wish you wouldn’t.” scott bit out harshly as logan scoffed at his words, keeping his anger limited as he rolled his eyes.
“jean only needed someone to talk too—“
“you mean fuck.” scott said out harshly, jean crossing logan’s mind as his jaw clenched his gaze darkening as he couldn’t bring himself to shake his head. not that he was thinking about scott’s feelings — right now his mind pondering on another.
scott saw how logan couldn’t even fight back with words — tutting as he pushed him back. logan’s hands falling to his side as the two didn’t break eye contact.
“you know we’re engaged.” scott spit out like venom, his words causing a look of surprise to wash over logan’s face as his mouth fell open, “well we were.” he added out.
“you were— what?” logan fumbled out, confusion written on his face as scott rolled his eyes at his reaction. not that he cared deep down, but it felt like he did right now.
“great.. she didn’t tell you. like she didn’t tell anyone,” he said lowly, “not that it makes it any better what you’ve done,” scott casted out as a few seconds finding passed as he tried to find the words which only come out anger filled, “she’s a caniving cheating bitch.” scott cursed out, logan not bringing himself to react to the words scott ushered about jean as he looked at scott.
logan was about to say something to scott when the sound of y/n’s soft little snores filled the room which made the tension even higher as scott and logan glared at eachother.
“maybe just think next time before you fuck someone else’s girl, again.” scott managed out as he pushed past logan to leave the room.
“i don’t think she’s your girl.” logan called back out before he left as scott’s jaw clenched at his words as he opened the door.
“not anymore. you can have her.” he said harshly as he paused as he knew he had to say something.
“—just think about how y/n feels, because i know hurts.” scott spoke lowly as he left without another word clearly implying a certain fact.
logans heart skipped a beat at his words as the door shut behind scott, his mind feeling as if it was in a war as the tension built in the room immediately. the air feeling thick as he swallowed his own spit not bringing himself to call something back to him as his words couldn’t even bring themselves to form right in his brain yet alone out loud.
his eyes dawned back onto the sleeping girl y/n laying there. looking so soft and innocent, completely sound asleep and his heart couldn’t help twang a little as he bit down on the inside of his cheek — many bustling thoughts cursing his brain as he wished he had never thought of them.
his mind lingering on the thought of jean and what just occurred within him and scott as he came down from the pain that was inflicted on him his chest rising rapidly to a more normal flow as he healed. as he focused his gaze on y/n as he furrowed his eyebrows over what scott had said, trying to wrap his brain around it.
logan’s eyes dawning on y/n. guilt seeping through him as he felt his heart gain that aching feeling y/n had been riddled with since the day she first realised she was in love with the man as he sat on the foot of the bed. his mind feeling melted as he placed his hand on her own his big, gruff and rough feeling hand taking the soft touch of her hand into his own grip. her hand being half if not less of his size as he soothed her. her touch being another level of comfort he didn’t recall experiencing since he was a young boy that feeling sending memories flooding through his brain he couldn’t focus on now.
feeling all the emotions boiling up he’d been fighting to push down as he looked down at her asleep body. what was all of this? she had been distant, almost rude and very cold and scott’s words were making that why question he had on his mind for the past two weeks clearer.
the implication of scott’s words hung in his mind as he looked at her. him eventually bringing himself over to the spare place next to her in the bed not wanting to leave her alone for the night too worried about how drunk she was and if anything could happen in the night.. or anyone else drunkily walking in. but he couldn’t help deep down in knowing that those were just excuses to stay within her presence. asleep or not.
carefully building a gap between the two of them as he laid down — no matter how strong the urge to hug her and comfort her was — as he let out a rough exhale as he closed his eyes.
only to open them three seconds later to look at her. his eyes not leaving her peacefully asleep body for the rest of the night.

this one actually makes sense as a standalone fic tbh but it's too short for me to be bothered with formatting
anyway mumscarian with touch averse scar finding other ways to show affection! more specifically, stiff's no touchy scar <3
scar smiles to himself as he watches mumbo and grian from across the room. it’s midwinter, and it’s been snowing so incessantly since last night that they haven’t been able to leave the house all day, so they’re all cozied up indoors.
buried under a mountain of blankets, scar is half asleep on the sofa, occasionally commenting on mumbo’s prowess (or lack thereof) in the mariokart game he’s playing against grian. grian is on the floor next to the other sofa, and the two are swapping with increasingly creative insults whenever the other wins.
scar is deeply amused by the whole situation. both mumbo and grian are as bad as each other when it comes to mariokart, and scar enjoys the annoyed squawking that grian makes whenever he mentions jimmy being better. mumbo, it seems, shares that enjoyment—though he stops laughing when scar brings up how badly he lost against martyn last time they’d played.
“you absolute-!” grian shouts suddenly, startling scar for a moment. “this is why you had to program grumbot to like you!”
mumbo bursts out laughing.
“that’s your best one yet!” mumbo grins. “oh, i’m gonna have to write some of these down.”
“already on it!” scar tells him, waving his phone. “so far i’ve got ‘you’re like if jimmy didn’t have good looks’, ‘scar could play better than you and he doesn’t have a controller’ and ‘when beyoncé said ‘to the left to the left’ she did not mean right now’.”
grian cackles. “I think I got that one from scott, i’ve been talking to him more lately.”
“I am telling jimmy about the first one.” scar grins.
“no- you can’t tell him that!” grian squawks. “i’ll never hear the end of it!”
“I know.” scar says mischievously.
“it’s okay g,” mumbo reaches down to pat him on the shoulder, mock-comforting. “joel will make more fun of you than we ever could.”
“oh no.” grian groans into his hands.
“I owe joel so much for making fun of you when I can’t.” scar says solemnly.
“and martyn.” mumbo nods. “if anyone knows how to commit to a bit, it’s them.”
“hear hear.” grian says miserably, but when he moves his hands, he’s smiling. “another round?”
“you’re on.”
scar leans back on the sofa and begins to gaze at them again, a syrupy pleasure pooling in his stomach. his eyes trace their features with utter adoration; the mischievous light that dances in grian’s eyes as he teases mumbo, the soft smile as mumbo tries to pretend he’s offended, the comfortable warmth that fills the room.
he loves the way grian’s whole face lights up as he laughs, the way his eyes crinkle in the corners, the way his giggles ring through the room. he loves how mumbo can’t quite disguise how much he’s enjoying himself, how his grin is fond and warm, how he keeps laughing to himself like he can’t help it.
wow. he really loves them, huh?
mumbo glances over at scar and sees him looking. he goes a little pink, but smirks playfully. “see something you like?” he teases.
immediately, grian whoops, and the words ‘you win!’ flash on his side of the screen. scar bursts out laughing at mumbo’s outraged expression as he realises what just happened.
“what?!” he exclaims, voice pitching higher. “wh- no, that can’t be fair, scar distracted me!”
“hey, I was staring at you both equally.” scar teases, and something warm blooms in his chest as grian blushes. “you just happened to look at me.”
“scar, you’re just too pretty.” grian says solemnly.
“oh.” scar pouts, mock-upset. “okay. i’ll just.. leave, I guess..”
he starts to stand up, and both mumbo and grian shout at once for him to stay.
“nuh uh, I didn’t mean that in a bad way.” grian says. “I will get one of those.. shepherd hook thingies and I will keep you in this room!”
scar laughs, imagining it. “g, I love you, but do you really think you have the strength for that?”
grian squawks in protest and mumbo cackles. “it’s okay, i’ll help you.”
scar raises an eyebrow. “do you think you have the strength for that?”
“hey!” mumbo exclaims, and scar giggles at the twin outraged expressions on his partners’ faces. “neither do you!”
“I never said I did.” scar says cheerfully.
grian sticks his tongue out at scar, who copies him.
“one more game?” mumbo offers.
“whoever wins this one gets to eat the first cookie I decorate.” scar tells them. he has never seen two people look more determined in his life.
scar could never understand the people who would tell him that he ‘couldn’t really love someone’ because he refused to hug anyone, or that if he loved someone, he’d make an exception. even before he was old enough to know to what extent, he’d always known it was bullshit.
but now..
gosh. scar doesn’t think it could be possible to be more in love than he is with mumbo and grian, and he still doesn’t hug them. in fact, he thinks he might have fallen deeper into love when he realised just how much they respect that about him—no strings attached.
as he watches mumbo whoop in sheer delight, getting to his feet and jumping on the spot to celebrate his victory, and grian struggling immensely to look truly upset as mumbo picks him up and spins him around, scar doesn’t think there could be any better partners in the world.
so maybe they show love in different ways. if he had the chance, scar wouldn’t change a single thing.

Word count: 8 326
The room was quiet, save for the faint hum of technology from the giant monitor hanging on the wall. Around the long, metallic table sat the core members of the X-Men—Scott Summers, Ororo Munroe, Jean Grey, Hank McCoy, and Logan, who sat at the far end, his arms crossed over his chest, eyes narrowed as he stared at the screen.
Charles Xavier sat at the head of the table, his hands folded in front of him. The image on the screen showed a grainy surveillance feed from the inside of the lab they were about to raid. It was dark, but even through the low-quality footage, they could see her—Eva. Curled up in a glass cell, arms wrapped around her knees, staring blankly ahead. Her small frame seemed fragile, but the readings from Cerebro painted a different picture entirely.
“She’s been in there for years,” Charles began, his voice calm and measured. “A captive, used as an experiment by a faction of scientists attempting to create new, enhanced mutants.”
Jean’s brow furrowed, her eyes full of concern. “They’ve been adding mutations to her, manipulating her DNA. That’s… unethical doesn’t even begin to describe it. How has she survived this long?”
“Barely,” Charles answered softly. “She’s had to endure unimaginable pain. Not just from the mutations, but from the emotional and psychological torment. One of her powers allows her to absorb the pain and injuries of others, healing them at her own expense. But it’s more than that. It’s not just physical. She absorbs their emotional damage too. She’s a living conduit for others’ suffering.”
Ororo closed her eyes for a moment, her voice thick with empathy. “No one should have to endure that. We have to help her.”
Scott nodded. “She’s a mutant, and she’s in danger. That makes it our responsibility to get her out of there.”
Logan leaned forward in his chair, his face twisting into a scowl. “Hold on a second.” His voice was rough, laced with irritation. “You’ve read her file, Chuck. You know what she’s capable of. That kind of power? You really think it’s a good idea to bring her here? She’s a damn walking nuke. You touch her, and she’s in your head, messing with your emotions, maybe worse. That’s if she doesn’t blast you halfway across the room with her force repulsion or whatever the hell it is.”
Jean glanced at Logan, her brow creasing with concern. “She’s been through hell, Logan. She didn’t ask for any of this.”
“I get that,” Logan shot back, his voice sharp, “but it doesn’t change the fact that she’s dangerous. You saw what happened in the last raid when we tried to bring in that mutant with the volatile powers. He almost brought the whole damn building down.”
“Eva isn’t a threat by choice,” Charles interjected, his tone steady, though there was a quiet firmness to it. “She’s been conditioned, pushed to her limits. The trauma she’s endured has caused her to lose control. But she is not beyond saving.”
Logan leaned back in his chair, a growl rumbling low in his throat. “That’s the thing, though, ain’t it? Control. She’s got none. We storm that lab, and she could go off on us just like that,” he snapped his fingers, “and you know it. You’re askin’ us to walk into a situation where we don’t know if we’ll be able to handle her if she flips out.”
“Her powers make her volatile, yes,” Hank spoke up, his deep, thoughtful voice cutting through the tension. “But we’ve faced dangerous powers before. If we don’t act, she will continue to suffer. And from the looks of this lab, it’s only a matter of time before they push her to the breaking point. We have to try.”
“Try?” Logan scoffed. “What if trying gets us killed? Or worse—what if she turns into something none of us can handle?”
Scott, who had been quiet until now, leaned forward, his gaze locking onto Logan. “We know the risks. But that doesn’t change our mission. We don’t abandon our own, especially not someone who’s been tortured like this.”
“Yeah, well, maybe this time we should think about it,” Logan muttered, his eyes narrowing. “She’s not one of us. Not yet. We don’t even know who she is.”
“Logan.” Jean’s voice was soft but firm, a note of understanding in it. “You know better than anyone what it’s like to be taken and turned into something against your will.”
Her words hung in the air like a weight, and for a moment, Logan’s scowl deepened. His hands clenched into fists, his claws threatening to extend. He hated being reminded of what had been done to him—of the experiments, the torture, the mind games that had turned him into a weapon. He’d spent years fighting to control the rage, to stop himself from becoming the monster they tried to make him.
But this girl… she was different. She wasn’t like him. She wasn’t hardened by battle, wasn’t tempered by a lifetime of violence. She was a raw nerve, and in Logan’s mind, that made her more dangerous than any enemy they’d faced.
“She’s not ready for this world,” Logan said, his voice lower now, but no less intense. “She’s not ready for what happens if she loses it. And we sure as hell ain’t ready for her.”
Charles met Logan’s gaze evenly, unflinching. “I understand your hesitation, Logan. Truly. But this girl needs us. She’s been used and discarded, treated as nothing more than an experiment. If we don’t intervene, she’ll die in that lab. And if we leave her there, she may very well become the very thing you fear—a weapon. But if we bring her here, if we can reach her, she has a chance at something more. A chance to be more than what they’ve tried to make her.”
Logan grunted, looking away. He could feel the weight of the room’s eyes on him, but it didn’t change the knot of unease twisting in his gut. He didn’t trust this situation. Something about it felt wrong, and his instincts were screaming at him to walk away.
But the problem was, he couldn’t. No matter how much he wanted to turn his back, he couldn’t ignore the part of him that remembered what it was like to be the one trapped, the one without control.
Finally, after a long pause, Logan let out a rough sigh. “Fine. We go in, we get her out. But don’t expect me to play nice if she goes feral.”
Charles nodded, a faint smile tugging at his lips. “Thank you, Logan. We’ll do everything we can to make sure it doesn’t come to that.”
Logan stood up from his chair, cracking his neck as he moved toward the door. “Yeah, well, let’s just hope I don’t end up regrettin’ this.”
As Logan stalked out of the room, Ororo exchanged a glance with Scott, who sighed softly. “He’ll come around,” Scott said, though there was an edge of uncertainty in his voice.
“He always does,” Jean murmured, watching the door where Logan had disappeared. “Eventually.”
Charles sat back in his chair, his gaze drifting to the image of Eva on the screen once again. Her small, frail figure was a stark contrast to the power that resided within her.
“She will need time,” he said softly, more to himself than anyone else. “But I believe in her potential. She is more than what they’ve tried to make her.”
And with that, the plan was set. They were going to get Eva out of that lab. Whether or not she could ever be truly free from what had been done to her, though, was another question entirely.
***
They needed to act quickly. No one was here for now, but they didn’t when they would be back.
The sharp scent of antiseptic and cold metal filled the underground lab, the walls lined with sterile, reflective surfaces that amplified the clinical horror of the place. Logan led the way. His claws twitched within his knuckles, ready to spring at any moment. Behind him, Storm, Jean and Cyclops moved in silence, their eyes scanning the corridor for any threats. They had heard rumors of this lab—where scientists experimented on mutants—but nothing had prepared them for the twisted reality.
Then Logan's senses sharpened.
"She's close," he growled, his voice barely a whisper, yet thick with urgency.
The lab was dimly lit, sterile, and cold. The sharp scent of chemicals hung in the air, mixed with something darker—something that stank of pain and fear. The X-Men moved quietly, their boots silent against the sleek metal floors.
“Chuck better be damn sure about this one,” he muttered under his breath, his fists clenched tight. “I ain’t buyin’ this save the girl’ crap.”
Jean turned her head slightly, giving Logan a sharp look. “You know she didn’t choose this, Logan. She’s a victim.”
“Yeah? You tellin’ me she’s not dangerous?” Logan’s voice was a low growl, tinged with irritation. “Because I’ve seen plenty of ‘victims’ go off and take half a town with ‘em.”
“She’s a kid,” Storm cut in, her voice firm but calm. “She’s been tortured. She needs help.”
Logan rolled his eyes, his claws itching to come out. This whole mission felt wrong to him. Saving people? Fine. But saving a mutant who could, at any second, go berserk and tear them all apart? Not so fine.
“You’re all thinkin’ with your hearts,” he muttered, his tone harsh. “And that’s a good way to get us all killed. Just sayin’.”
Cyclops shot him a look, his jaw tightening. “We’re here to help her, Logan. If you can’t handle that, maybe you should’ve stayed at the mansion.”
Logan sneered, his lip curling. “Maybe I shoulda.”
But he didn’t. Despite every instinct telling him to turn around and walk away, he came along. Part of him didn’t know why. Maybe it was the way Charles had looked at him, that quiet conviction in his voice when he said, “She needs us, Logan.”
Logan had heard those words before. He’d been the one who needed saving once. And yeah, he’d been dangerous too. But it didn’t mean he had to like this mission—or trust this girl.
They rounded a corner and found a room that reeked of fear. Through a cracked glass wall, Logan saw her—huddled in the corner, shackled to a metal chair. Her appearance was fragile, like a broken bird too wounded to fly. Tangled hair fell over her face, and her body seemed emaciated, but the air around her pulsed with something dangerous.
Logan’s stomach tightened as he looked at her. She was small, fragile-looking, her eyes hollow, like she hadn’t seen anything good in a long time. But that wasn’t what set him on edge. No, it was the raw power he could feel rolling off her in waves, even though the thick glass. She was a bomb. One wrong move, and she’d go off.
“Let’s get her out of there,” Cyclops said, moving toward the controls.
Logan bristled, stepping forward. “Wait. What’s the plan here, huh? We just let her loose, hope she’s all sunshine and rainbows?”
“Logan,” Jean said, her voice steady, “we can calm her down. She’s scared. She’s not going to hurt us.”
“Yeah? Tell that to the last guy who thought he had a handle on a mutant with no control.” Logan’s voice was hard, his eyes narrowed. “That guy ended up in pieces.”
Cyclops sighed, clearly losing patience. “Logan, we didn’t come here to debate this. We came here to get her out. Stand aside.”
Logan didn’t move, his eyes locked on the girl. Something in his gut twisted, but he shoved it aside. “Fine,” he muttered. “But when this goes sideways, don’t say I didn’t warn ya.”
The glass door slid open with a low hiss, and for a moment, nothing happened. Eva didn’t move, didn’t even look up. She was still, like an animal caught in a trap, waiting for something worse to happen.
Jean stepped forward, her voice gentle. “Eva? We’re here to help you. It’s okay. You’re safe now.”
Logan snorted under his breath. Safe. Yeah, right.
Storm moved forward. "We’re here to help," she said gently, trying to project calm through her voice. Her hand moved to the console, disengaging the restraints that held the girl. The moment the locks clicked open, the girl lifted her head.
At first, Eva didn’t respond. But then her eyes flicked up, and Logan saw it—the fear, the confusion. And beneath it, a barely contained surge of raw, unchecked power..
Before anyone could say a word, Eva’s body tensed, and Logan’s instincts screamed at him. Something snapped inside her, a ripple of energy that exploded outward.
“Shit!” Logan barely had time to react before the force hit him, slamming into his chest like a freight train and sending him flying back into the wall with a grunt. The others were thrown back as well, but Jean managed to hold up a telekinetic shield just in time to soften the blow.
Logan hit the ground hard, the breath knocked out of him. His head spun as he pushed himself up, his vision blurry for a moment. “Goddamn it,” he snarled.
Cyclops struggled to his feet, his visor sparking. “Jean, calm her down, now!”
“I’m trying!” Jean said, her voice strained as she reached out mentally, but Eva’s panic was overwhelming. The raw emotions she absorbed from the team—fear, frustration, Logan’s anger—were feeding her powers, making them spiral out of control.
Logan gritted his teeth, claws snapping out instinctively. His healing factor allowed him to push through the pain, but it didn’t stop the girl’s attack. The forcefield around her shimmered, pulsating with her terror. She backed into a corner, eyes wide with an animalistic rage, and her breathing was ragged, panicked.
Logan got back on his feet, his body aching from the impact, but he was pissed now. “This is what I’m talkin’ about!” he growled, stalking forward, his claws gleaming. “You can’t control her!”
Eva’s eyes darted wildly, her chest heaving as waves of energy pulsed off her, distorting the air around her. Her hands trembled, her face twisted in terror. She was completely out of control, her powers lashing out blindly.
"Stay back!" she screamed. "I don’t—don’t come near me!"
Logan pushed himself up, panting. "We’re not here to hurt ya, kid," he said, voice gruff but calmer than before, trying to anchor her in the chaos of her mind. But her eyes had already glazed over—she was lost to the overwhelming storm inside her.
“Eva!” Jean called, her voice soothing but desperate. “Please, you need to stop!”
But it was no use. Eva couldn’t hear her over the roar of her own panic.
Logan moved in, fast and low, dodging another pulse of energy that nearly sent him sprawling. His patience was shot, his temper flaring hot. He’d warned them. He’d told them this was a bad idea. And now this girl was about to bring the whole lab down on top of them.
“Enough of this!” Logan snarled, charging at her with his claws raised.
Eva’s eyes snapped to him, her panic morphing into raw fear, and without thinking, she thrust her hands out. A blast of energy hit Logan square in the chest, sending him flying back again, slamming into a steel pillar with a bone-rattling crash.
“Dammit!” Logan spat, coughing as he got back to his feet, his ribs screaming in protest. His vision blurred for a second, rage bubbling inside him. “I told you!” he shouted at Cyclops, who was trying to keep his balance. “I told you this was a bad idea!”
Eva staggered back, her body trembling violently. She looked at Logan with wide, terrified eyes, realizing what she’d done. She hadn’t meant to. She didn’t want to hurt him. But the damage was done.
Logan’s gaze locked on hers, filled with fury and mistrust. “You’re gonna kill us all, kid,” he growled, his voice rough, dripping with venom.
“Logan, stop!” Jean shouted, stepping between them. “You’re making it worse!”
“Worse? You think it can get worse than this?” Logan barked, his eyes blazing with anger. “She’s a loose cannon, and you’re all actin’ like she’s some poor helpless kid. She’s not! She’s a damn weapon!”
Eva’s breath hitched, her vision blurring as tears welled up in her eyes. She wasn’t a weapon. She wasn’t a monster. But that’s all they saw, wasn’t it? That’s all she’d ever be to anyone.
“I’m sorry,” she whispered, her voice breaking. “I didn’t mean to—”
“Yeah?” Logan’s voice was sharp, cutting into her like a knife. “Well, you did.”
Before Eva could respond, Storm stepped forward, her voice calm but commanding. “Logan, enough.”
Logan’s scowl deepened, but he backed off, his claws retracting with a sharp snikt. He shot an angry glare at Eva, his eyes filled with mistrust. “If you can’t control yourself, you don’t belong out here.”
Eva’s heart clenched, her body trembling as she took a step back. The pain in Logan’s words cut deeper than any wound. She didn’t want to be this way. She didn’t want to hurt anyone. But all she ever seemed to do was cause more pain.
A tidal wave of agony and fear threatened to consume her. Haunting recollections of torment, of relentless experimentation, surged through the maze of her mind. The harsh utterances of the man had become a ceaseless refrain since her arrival here. She was reduced to nothing more than an implement of warfare, forged for the benefit of others. Her emotions, her own inner turmoil, were inconsequential. She was bereft of care or compassion.
Tears welled up in her eyes, a dam of pent-up emotion threatening to break. The potency of his words was such that it cleaved her to the quick, opening fresh wounds and exposing deeply buried insecurities in her already scarred heart. He needed to grasp the truth, he needed to comprehend the reality of her existence: she was no monster.
Her presence here was not a matter of choice, but rather of necessity.
Without warning, she lunged at him. Her hand made contact with his arm, and suddenly, a flood of raw emotions poured into him. Fear. Pain. Desperation. The weight of all the suffering she had endured hit Logan like a punch to the gut. His mind reeled as her powers synced with his, letting him feel what she felt.
The room distorted around him—her memories blurring into his thoughts. Logan saw flashes: needles piercing her skin, the cold, merciless faces of scientists, the endless nights spent in isolation. Every ounce of agony and torture she’d endured slammed into him, nearly buckling his knees.
"Get out of my head!" Logan snarled, shaking her off. But it was too late—her power had taken hold, binding their emotions together like a knot.
"Logan!" Cyclops shouted, firing a quick burst from his optic blast. The force knocked her back, but only momentarily. The girl screamed again, and this time her forcefield flared with blinding intensity, hurling them all across the room.
Storm shot into the air, lightning crackling around her as she tried to contain the energy swirling around the girl. "We have to neutralize her, Logan—she can’t control it!"
"I know!" he barked, struggling to regain his balance as another pulse of energy sent a chair crashing into the wall. His claws slid back into place. He could see it in the girl’s eyes—she wasn’t attacking them out of malice. It was terror. Pure, unbridled terror. But it didn’t matter. Right now, she was a threat.
Logan moved toward her again, determined this time. "Listen, kid," he growled, "I know what they did to you. But we’re not them. You’ve gotta stop—"
She didn’t. Her hand shot up, and suddenly Logan was on the floor, his ribs burning as her force slammed him again. But this time, before she could do more damage, a blinding streak of light shot through the air. Cyclops’ blast hit her square in the chest, knocking her unconscious. Her body crumpled, and the forcefield flickered out.
The room fell silent.
Logan dragged himself to his feet, clutching his side. "Dammit," he muttered under his breath, shaking the lingering disorientation from his head.
Storm knelt beside the unconscious girl, her expression a mix of sympathy and concern. "She's just a kid, Logan," she whispered.
"Doesn't change what she can do," he replied, his voice low and dangerous.
Cyclops approached cautiously, his visor still glowing faintly. "We need to get her back to the mansion. Charles might be able to help her... stabilize."
Logan glanced at the girl’s fragile form, her face calm in sleep but haunted by the shadows of what she had been through. Something in him twisted. She was broken, just like him—but there was something more dangerous about her. Something darker.
"Maybe," Logan grunted. But his eyes lingered on her longer than he intended. He couldn’t shake the feeling that no matter how much they tried to help her, she was a ticking time bomb. And no one—not Charles, not the X-Men, not even himself—would be able to stop her if she went off again.
Cyclops looked at Logan, as though sensing his unease. "You think we’re making a mistake?"
Logan snorted. "I don’t trust her." His gaze remained hard, unyielding. "And I don’t think she trusts us either."
They gathered the girl carefully, carrying her out of the lab. But as they left the cold steel behind, Logan couldn’t shake the nagging suspicion in his gut. Something about her still clawed at his instincts.
And Logan always trusted his instincts.
***
The X-Men team arrived back at the school in the early hours of the morning. The sky was still dark, the stars barely visible against the approaching dawn. The mansion loomed ahead, its windows softly illuminated by the interior lights.
Eva, awake already and restrained by the power-dampening cuffs, was guided through the front entrance. Her eyes were downcast, her steps slow and hesitant. She hasn’t talked much on their way back and no one was really in a talkative mood either. The only interaction Eva had was with Logan’s constant stare.
The team moved with purpose but with an underlying tension. Logan walked alongside her, his jaw set and his eyes wary.
As they reached the foyer, Charles Xavier awaited them in his wheelchair, his expression a mix of concern and resolve. He had been up all night, preparing for this moment. He wheeled forward to meet them, his gaze settling on Eva with a gentle, reassuring look.
“Welcome back,” Charles said softly, his voice warm. “I’m glad to see you’re all safe.”
Logan, his eyes still fixed on Eva, grunted. “We got her here, but I’m telling you, this one’s a liability. Her powers are way out of control.”
Charles nodded, his eyes never leaving Eva. “I understand your concerns, Logan. Eva, we’ll be taking you to the hospital wing for now. It’s important that we manage your powers and ensure everyone’s safety while we figure things out.”
Eva met Charles’s gaze briefly, her fear evident, but his kind eyes offered a small measure of comfort. She followed him and the team down the hall, her movements slow and cautious.
As they approached the hospital wing, Charles turned to Logan, his expression thoughtful. “Logan, I know you’re worried. Her abilities are indeed formidable, and it’s natural to be concerned.”
Logan’s brows furrowed, his frustration palpable. “Formidable? The girl almost killed me. She’s a risk, Charles. We don’t know what she’s capable of if she loses control again.”
Charles placed a calming hand on Logan’s arm. “I understand. But she’s also a person who’s been through unimaginable suffering. We need to balance our caution with compassion. She’s scared and alone, and that’s why we need to approach this with care.”
Logan shrugged off Charles’s hand, his gaze still dark. “Careful or not, we’re walking a tightrope here. One slip and we could all be in trouble.”
Charles’s tone was firm yet soothing. “Yes, we are walking a tightrope. But remember, we have the means to help her, and we must give her a chance to prove that she can find control. We’ve faced dangers before, and we’ve come through. We will handle this situation with the same resolve.”
Logan sighed heavily, his eyes narrowing. “Just keep her in check. I don’t want anyone getting hurt.”
“I will,” Charles said softly. “And we’ll do everything we can to ensure that doesn’t happen. But we also need to give Eva a chance to find her place here, just as we all had our own moments of struggle.”
Logan’s gaze flickered to Eva, who was now being gently guided into the hospital wing by the staff. He didn’t say anything more, but the hardness in his eyes softened slightly.
Charles watched Eva as she was led to a bed, his concern evident. He turned back to Logan, a small, hopeful smile on his face. “Thank you for your vigilance, Logan. It’s what makes you a valuable member of this team. And it’s what will help us find the best path forward for Eva.”
Logan nodded curtly, his expression still tense. “Yeah, well, let’s hope you’re right.”
Charles watched him leave with a thoughtful look. He knew that Logan’s fears were not unfounded, but he also believed in the power of empathy and understanding. For now, his focus was on Eva, ensuring that she felt safe and supported as she began this new chapter in her life.
As the door to the hospital wing closed behind him, Charles took a deep breath, preparing to meet the challenges ahead with the same determination and compassion he hoped to instill in everyone around him.
***
Logan stood at the threshold of the med bay, his silhouette casting a long shadow on the floor. The hum of machines monitoring Eva’s vitals filled the quiet, sterile air. She lay in one of the beds, hooked up to a dozen wires, her frail body looking even smaller against the white sheets. Her chest rose and fell in shallow, uneven breaths, her face pale and sunken, with dark circles under her eyes. She looked fragile—broken, even—but Logan knew better than to trust appearances.
He clenched his fists at his sides, his knuckles white, his nails biting into his palms. Anger simmered just beneath the surface, bubbling up through his veins like molten steel, but it wasn’t the familiar kind of anger. It wasn’t the kind that came from a fight or from someone he hated. It was… different, raw and twisted, like a splinter lodged deep in his gut that he couldn’t pull out.
Logan took a step forward, his boots heavy against the cold floor. His eyes never left the girl, even though something inside him told him to turn away, to leave. But he couldn’t. He had to face it—face her.
“Why the hell am I still here?” he muttered under his breath, though the words tasted bitter in his mouth. He didn’t know why, but something kept pulling him back. Maybe it was that look in her eyes when she’d blasted him across the lab, that raw fear and regret that hit him like a punch to the gut. She hadn’t meant to hurt him—not really. But that didn’t change what she could do.
*She’s dangerous,* Logan thought, his teeth grinding together. *Too dangerous.*
The med bay door slid open with a soft hiss behind him, and Jean stepped in quietly. She glanced at Logan, her expression unreadable, then back to Eva.
“She’s stabilized.” Jean said softly, her voice careful, as if she knew how close Logan was to snapping. “Her body’s been through a lot, but she’ll recover. Physically, at least.”
“Physically, huh?” Logan’s voice was low, a harsh rasp that betrayed the turmoil inside him. “That’s what you’re worried about?”
Jean sighed, stepping closer to him, her gaze flicking between him and the girl. “I know you’re angry, Logan.”
“Angry?!” He barked out a bitter laugh. “Hell, Jean, I’m beyond that.” His eyes locked onto Eva, who lay still and silent, oblivious to the storm brewing inside him. “She almost tore me apart. If I didn’t have my healin’, I’d be lyin’ in pieces right now. And it ain’t just me. She’s got enough power in her to wipe out this whole school if she loses it again.”
Jean’s voice softened, but there was a firmness underneath it. “She didn’t mean to hurt you, Logan. She was scared. She still is.”
“I don’t care what she meant to do,” Logan growled, taking a step closer to Eva’s bed, his fists clenched. “What matters is what she can do. She’s outta control, Jean. And you’re tellin’ me you’re okay with keepin’ her here? Around the kids? You really want to risk that?”
Jean didn’t respond right away, her eyes lingering on Eva’s small, fragile form. “She’s still young, Logan. A young girl who’s been tortured, experimented on. She didn’t ask for any of this.”
“And what happens when she can’t keep it together?” Logan shot back, his voice harsh, laced with anger. “What happens when she lashes out again? You think the kids are safe with her around?”
Jean’s silence stretched between them, heavy and uncomfortable. Finally, she turned to face him fully, her voice gentle but firm. “Logan, I know you’re worried. We all are. But we can’t just give up on her.”
Logan’s face twisted, his jaw tight, his eyes burning with an intensity that made even Jean flinch slightly. “Maybe we should,” he muttered, his voice low, dangerous.
The words felt like poison on his tongue, but part of him believed them. He didn’t want to hate her—hell, he didn’t even know why he did—but he couldn’t shake the feeling that keeping her here was a mistake. A big one. It wasn’t just about what she’d done to him in that lab, or even what she was capable of. It was the feeling that clung to his skin like sweat whenever he looked at her—the feeling that she was a walking disaster waiting to happen.
“Look, I get it, Jean,” he said, his voice a little quieter now, though still rough. “She’s a victim. But you can’t tell me that doesn’t make her more dangerous, not less. All that power, all that hurt… It’s a bad mix. She’s too damn powerful, and she’s got no control over it.”
Jean opened her mouth to respond, but Logan cut her off. “You don’t get it,” he snapped, his eyes narrowing. “I can feel it. She’s unstable. You saw what she did without even tryin’. That’s the problem, Jean. She ain’t tryin’, and she still almost killed me. You really think it’ll be any different next time?”
Jean’s eyes softened, but Logan could see the conflict in them. “She’s not beyond help. Charles thinks—”
“Charles is a damn optimist,” Logan spat, shaking his head. “And maybe he’s wrong this time.”
The room fell silent after that, the tension between them thick enough to cut with a knife. Jean didn’t argue, but she didn’t agree either. She just stood there, her hands folded in front of her, looking at Logan like she was waiting for something—waiting for him to let go of the anger that twisted his face into something hard and unrecognizable.
But he couldn’t.
Logan’s eyes drifted back to Eva, lying there so still, so helpless. His gut twisted again, that strange mix of guilt and fury gnawing at him. He hated her. He hated the situation. And he hated himself for feeling this way. But every time he tried to shake it, tried to tell himself she was just another lost kid who needed help, all he could see was the blast of power that had sent him flying, the fear and confusion in her eyes as she lost control.
*Too dangerous,* he thought again, clenching his fists.
His mind raced. He couldn’t figure out why his anger was so fierce, why his hatred for this girl seemed so personal. Maybe it was because he’d been there—maybe not the same way, but close enough. Maybe it was because her powers were so raw, so unchecked, like his claws before he learned how to control them. Or maybe it was because he saw a reflection of himself in her—what he could have been, what he was still afraid he could become.
Whatever the reason, it didn’t change how he felt. He didn’t trust her. He didn’t trust that she wouldn’t hurt someone again, someone who wasn’t as tough to bounce back as he was.
“She’s too powerful,” he muttered, more to himself than to Jean. “She doesn’t belong here.”
Jean took a step closer, her hand resting gently on his arm. “She’s scared, Logan. Just like you were once.”
He jerked his arm away, glaring at her. “Don’t. Don’t make this about me. This is about her. She’s dangerous, and you know it.”
Jean didn’t flinch, though her voice softened. “And so were you, Logan. But we didn’t give up on you. And I won’t give up on her.”
Logan let out a rough sigh, turning away from her, his eyes fixed on the door now. He couldn’t stand being in that room any longer. Not with her lying there, not with all the anger boiling up inside him. His heart felt too heavy, weighed down by everything he didn’t want to feel.
“I’m tellin’ you, Jean,” he muttered as he moved toward the door, his voice hard again, “you’re makin’ a mistake. And when it all goes wrong, don’t say I didn’t warn ya.”
With that, he stormed out of the med bay, the door hissing shut behind him. But the knot of anger and guilt stayed with him, gnawing at his insides, refusing to let him go.
 ***
Eva's eyelids fluttered open to the soft hum of medical machinery and the muted light of early morning filtering through the blinds. The room was quiet, save for the rhythmic beeping of a heart monitor and the occasional shuffle of footsteps outside. She blinked groggily, her mind struggling to piece together the events of the previous day.
The room was sterile and clinical, a stark contrast to the cold, harsh lab she’d known. Her wrists felt heavy, the power-dampening cuffs still securely fastened. As she shifted slightly, the soft rustle of the hospital bed linens reminded her of her vulnerable state. She winced, feeling the dull ache of yesterday’s emotional and physical turmoil.
She glanced around, trying to take in her surroundings. The walls were painted a soothing blue, and a small window offered a view of the gardens outside. It was a serene setting, but Eva felt anything but calm. The memories of her violent outburst and the fear in Logan's eyes replayed in her mind like a relentless loop.
Her breath quickened, and the panic spread. She tugged at the restraints, jerking her arms violently as she tried to free herself, but it was useless. The cuffs held firm, and with each tug, the fear inside her grew. Tears welled in her eyes as she remembered what had almost happened—what she’d nearly done.
"I could’ve killed them. I almost killed them."
Her stomach twisted, and bile rose in her throat. She didn’t want to hurt anyone. She never wanted to hurt anyone, but it didn’t matter anymore. She was too dangerous, too unstable, and the more they tried to help her, the more they were at risk. Everyone was in danger because of her.
Her thoughts spiraled, faster and faster, and for a brief moment, she considered ripping her own wrists raw against the restraints, breaking free just to get as far away as possible. She couldn’t stay here. She didn’t belong here. She shouldn’t even be alive.
Her body shook as the realization hit her. She didn’t want to live like this anymore. Every breath felt like a burden, every second a threat to those around her.
"Why didn’t they just let me die?"
Before she could spiral further, the door to the hospital wing hissed open, and heavy footsteps echoed through the sterile room. She stiffened, her eyes darting toward the figure who entered.
It was him. Logan.
He crossed the room with that familiar roughness, his boots heavy on the tile floor. His face was hard, expression unreadable, but the tension in his jaw and the simmering anger in his eyes told her all she needed to know. He didn’t want her here. He didn’t trust her. And she couldn’t blame him.
Logan stopped at the foot of her bed, his arms crossed over his chest as he stared down at her. "You awake, then?" His voice was gruff, biting, as if the mere sight of her irritated him.
Eva didn’t respond at first, her eyes still wide with fear. She could feel her heart pounding against her ribs, the weight of the handcuffs pressing into her skin. Her throat tightened, but she managed to whisper, “Why… why am I still here?”
Logan’s eyes narrowed, his lip curling slightly. "Good question. I’ve been askin’ myself the same thing."
The words hit her like a punch to the gut. She bit her lip, tears threatening to spill over, but she swallowed them down. “I didn’t… I didn’t mean to hurt anyone.”
Logan’s eyes flashed, and he took a step closer. “That’s the problem, kid. You didn’t mean to, but you did. Almost tore me apart, nearly killed everyone in that damn lab. Hell, if you’d gone all the way, this whole place could’ve been rubble by now.” His voice was low, dangerous, each word dripping with the frustration he was barely holding back.
Eva’s chest tightened, guilt flooding her system. “I don’t know how to control it,” she whispered, her voice cracking. "I don’t want to hurt anyone, but I don’t know how to stop it."
Logan’s gaze didn’t soften. If anything, his eyes grew colder, harder. “That’s the point, isn’t it? You can’t control it. So why the hell should we trust you? Why should we risk the kids, the people in this school, just because you’re scared?”
Tears finally spilled over, and Eva shook her head, feeling the weight of his words crush her. “I don’t want to be here. I don’t want to be alive!” Her voice was desperate, her entire body trembling. “You’re right, okay? I’m a danger to everyone, and I know it. You should’ve let me die.”
Logan’s face twitched, just for a second, and something flashed in his eyes—something almost like regret. But it was gone as quickly as it came, replaced by that same hard, cold mask. “Maybe,” he muttered. “Maybe we should’ve.”
His words hit her like a slap, and Eva turned her head away, unable to look at him anymore. Her chest heaved with sobs, the weight of everything pressing down on her until she couldn’t breathe.
Just then, the door to the med bay slid open again, and Charles Xavier entered, his wheelchair moving silently across the floor. The tension in the room shifted, and Logan stepped back slightly, though his posture remained rigid.
Charles’s voice was soft, calming, as he approached the bed. “Eva,” he said gently, his eyes kind as he looked at her. “You’re safe now.”
“Safe?” Eva’s voice was bitter, a shaky laugh escaping her lips. “How can you say that? I almost killed him.” She nodded toward Logan. “I could’ve killed all of you. I’m not safe. Not for you, not for anyone.”
Charles’s expression remained calm, but there was a deep sadness in his eyes. “We understand that you’ve been through unimaginable pain. But you’re not beyond help, Eva. We can work with you, teach you how to control your powers. You don’t have to go through this alone.”
But Eva shook her head violently, panic rising in her throat. “You don’t understand. They’re going to come for me. The people who did this to me, they’ll come back. And if I’m here, they’ll destroy everything in their way. You’ll all be in danger because of me. I—” Her voice broke, and she lowered her head, trembling. “Please… please just kill me. End it. I don’t want to live like this. I don’t want to hurt anyone anymore.”
Logan’s jaw clenched at her words, his anger bubbling up again. He wanted to snap at her, to tell her how selfish it was to think death was the answer, how ridiculous she sounded. But instead, he stood there, watching her break down, and for the first time, he felt a flicker of something else. Pity, maybe. Regret. He hated it, but it was there. Deep down.
For a moment, he saw himself in her—the same lost, broken thing, unsure of his place in the world. And it twisted something inside him.
Charles leaned forward, his tone soft but firm. “We don’t give up on anyone, Eva. You have a home here, if you choose to stay. We will help you, as long as you let us.”
Eva shook her head again, tears streaming down her face. “I’m too dangerous. You’re making a mistake.”
Logan exhaled sharply, stepping forward. “Maybe we are,” he growled, his voice cutting through the air. “But that’s not your call to make. You wanna give up? Fine. But Charles is right—we don’t give up on people here. So you’re stuck with us, whether you like it or not.”
His words hung in the air, and Eva stared at him through tear-filled eyes. She didn’t know whether to be scared or relieved, but all she felt was the crushing weight of guilt and fear. She wanted to believe they could help her, but deep down, she wasn’t sure anyone could.
And that terrified her most of all.
Eva’s tears soaked into the hospital pillow, and for a moment, the room was thick with silence. She couldn’t shake the terror clawing at her chest. Charles’s kind words barely registered through the haze of guilt and fear. Every instinct screamed to get away, to run before she hurt someone again. But the restraints around her wrists, humming with the suppression of her powers, kept her pinned to the bed, a prisoner to her own body.
Logan stood by the door, arms crossed, his expression dark. He had always been a difficult person to read, but right now, his anger was crystal clear. He didn’t want her here. He’d made that painfully obvious. Part of her agreed with him. She was too dangerous. Even if Charles promised help, what could they really do?
She had almost killed them. All of them. Logan, especially, and he wasn’t going to forget that anytime soon.
Logan broke the silence first, his voice sharp and cutting. "You think just 'cause we say we’ll help, that’s some kinda ticket outta responsibility? That you can just sit back and let us fix you? You’ve gotta want it. And I don’t think you do, kid."
Eva flinched at his words, her face contorting in pain. His anger wasn’t just justified—it was expected—but it didn’t make it any easier to hear. She turned her head away, unable to look at him.
"I don’t want anything," she whispered. "I just want to disappear."
Logan’s eyes narrowed, his frustration clearly boiling over. He took a step closer to the bed, his voice rising. "You think you’re the only one who’s been through hell? You think you’re special ’cause they did some experiments on you? Join the damn club." He jabbed his thumb at his own chest, his scowl deepening. "I’ve been there. I’ve done all that, and guess what? I didn’t get a choice. So don’t you stand there askin’ us to give up on you just ‘cause you’re scared."
His words were like a punch to the gut, and Eva’s tears flowed harder. She squeezed her eyes shut. She had been through hell, yes, but she didn’t have his strength. She couldn’t fight it the way he had. Her powers were out of control, and she was too weak, too broken to even try.
“I can’t control it,” she choked, her voice breaking. “I don’t want to hurt anyone, but I don’t know how to stop it. You don’t understand. They built me to be a weapon. I’m a ticking time bomb, and sooner or later, I’ll explode again.”
Logan clenched his fists, his knuckles white as the words hit him. He hated how familiar it all sounded, hated how much of his own past he could hear in her voice. But he couldn’t let that soften him, not when the stakes were this high. Not when she could destroy everything they’d built here, everything they protected.
“I get it, alright?” Logan growled. “You’re scared, and yeah, maybe you’ve been turned into a weapon, but that doesn’t mean you get to give up. You’re here now, and if you’re gonna stay, you better start fightin’ for somethin’ other than your damn self-pity.”
Eva trembled, her wrists pulling at the restraints as if she could somehow claw her way out of this nightmare. “I don’t want to be here! I don’t want to be anywhere. I should’ve died in that lab. It would’ve been better for everyone.”
Logan’s face tightened, a growl building in his throat. His anger, which had been simmering on the surface, was threatening to break loose. But before he could unleash another biting remark, Charles raised a hand, his voice calm but firm.
"Logan," Charles said gently, his gaze shifting from the girl to the man, “perhaps we should ease up.”
Logan shot Charles a sharp look, but there was something in the Professor’s eyes that made him pause, though the tension in his body remained. He backed off a step, arms still crossed, but the scowl stayed firmly in place. His anger wasn’t gone—it was just barely contained.
Charles turned his attention back to Eva, his voice soft and steady, the same calm she’d heard from him before. But this time, it pierced through her haze of fear just a little.
"Eva," he began, "I understand why you’re afraid. I can’t pretend to know the extent of your pain, but I do know this: you are not alone. You are not the first person to feel like their powers are too much to bear, and you won’t be the last. This place, this school, is for people just like you."
Eva shook her head, tears still streaming down her face. “You don’t get it. It’s not just me. The people who did this—they’ll come back for me. They’ll come for all of you. You’ll be in danger because of me.”
Charles’s expression didn’t waver. “We’ve faced threats before, Eva. But we believe in protecting those who cannot protect themselves. No one here will abandon you, no matter how great the risk.”
“Maybe you should,” she muttered, her voice barely audible. “Maybe it’d be better if you did.”
Logan scoffed from the corner, his patience thinning. "Maybe she’s got a point. You’re gambling a lot on someone who’s not even sure she wants to be saved, Charles. She could bring this whole place down."
Eva flinched again at his words, her heart aching with the weight of them. He was right. What was the point of trying to help her if she didn’t even know if she could be helped?
But Charles, as always, remained resolute.
“I know the risks,” Charles said, his voice calm but carrying the weight of authority. “But I also know that we must give her a chance. Eva, if you stay here, we will do everything in our power to help you gain control. You can have a life, a real life, outside of the torment they put you through.”
Eva swallowed hard, her chest tight. She wanted to believe him. She wanted to, but the fear was too overwhelming. What if she couldn’t control it? What if Logan was right, and she was just too dangerous to be here?
She shook her head, the tears never stopping. “I don’t know if I can. I don’t know if it’s even possible.”
Charles leaned closer, his eyes filled with the kind of kindness she hadn’t seen in a long time. “We will help you find out. But first, you must give yourself that chance.”
Eva’s breath caught in her throat. She stared at the Professor, searching his face for any sign of doubt, but there was none. He was offering her a lifeline, but could she trust herself to take it?
Her eyes drifted to Logan, still standing with his arms crossed, his face hard. He looked at her like she was a threat, like she didn’t belong here. And maybe she didn’t. Maybe he was right.
But part of her wanted to fight. Just a small part, buried beneath all the pain and fear, but it was there, flickering weakly.
“I don’t… I don’t know how,” she whispered, her voice breaking. “I don’t even know where to start.”
Charles smiled gently. “You start by staying. By trusting us.”
Logan scoffed again but said nothing, though his eyes bore into her, still filled with distrust. But for a fleeting second, something flickered in his gaze. Maybe it was pity, or maybe just the faintest trace of understanding. Either way, it didn’t last long, quickly replaced by the cold mask of doubt.
Eva closed her eyes, the weight of the decision pressing down on her. She didn’t know if she could trust them—or herself. But for the first time in a long time, she had a choice. She could choose to run. Or she could choose to stay and try.
It was the scariest choice she’d ever faced.

You carefully adjust the bow over your sex as you breathe to calm yourself before you present(I’m hilarious aren’t I?( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)) yourself to the birthday boy.
Logan and you have been together for nearing 2 years now, but you still get flustered when it comes to things like this. You’ve fucked in front of people before but then it was strangers and you weren’t entirely nude except for a ribbon twisted around your form. Knowing it’s his birthday, you steel your nerves and don’t let yourself think too much as you wait for your cue.
“Now, Logan, I think it’s time for your big present!” Scott announces, making sure to be loud enough that you can hear him. One last quick breath to release your last bit of stress and you’re out. You take shy steps into the room and the bright red ribbon contrasting against your skin catches his attention immediately.
His eyes rake down your form and a wide grin slowly grows on his face the more he sees and the closer you get to him.
“Damn, babydoll. All that for me?” He bites his lip with a borderline feral smirk on his lips.
“‘Course it is, birthday boy,” You smile at him, it was intended to be sultry but became more soft and sweet than anything. His feral smirk softens and he beckons you towards him. He brings his hands up to stroke over your thighs once you stand in front of him and he takes in the sight of the ribbon delightfully contouring against your skin and how delicately it’s wrapped around your body. It perfectly frames his favourite parts of you.
It loops around your hips, dipping into the crevices where your thighs meet your groin. The red forms an intricate shape over your chest and tastefully runs directly over your nipples. It all connects in the pretty bow right at the centre of your pelvis to cover up one of his favorite spots between your legs.
“You look perfect, babe.” He leans forward and places a soft kiss, with an underlying hunger, on your belly. He pulls back just enough to look up at you with thinly veiled lust in his eyes, “Turn around, babe, I wanna see the back,” the light command sends a small surge of heat through your body as you obey.
Turning around, you see everyone else here for his party. And for his present. Scott sits in an armchair to the right with Jean sitting on the arm with her legs over his lap. Kurt sits on the floor cross-legged with his eyes trained on you with fascination. Rogue sits on an ottoman behind him, trying and failing to look indifferent to the situation. Remy sits in another armchair with his arms resting comfortably on the arms and one leg crossed over the other, looking almost like a mafia boss or something, orchestrating this whole thing with the smug look he has while watching you intently.
Hank is in a large chair, made for him with his beastly size, watching both Logan’s and your actions carefully. For one reason or another, you’re glad that the Professor had to leave on business. You don’t think you’d be able to look him in the eye if he were here to watch you and Logan like this.
Logan still sits behind you as he appreciates the work you put into wrapping yourself up for him. The ribbon runs under your ass cheeks and across your lower back to perfectly frame your ass. Along your back, rather than being jumbled awkwardly to only make the front pretty, the ribbon crisscrosses delicately.
“You know exactly what I like, huh, doll?” He asks cheekily as he brings his hands up to trace over the ribbon. He reaches where it frames your ass and grabs handfuls of your flesh to squeeze and spread to get a good glimpse of his goal. He leans in and sets a long lick over his favourite hole, slicking it up and groaning at your taste. He pulls back to slap at your ass hard enough to watch it jiggle for him.
“Mmm, fuck, baby, c’mere,” He pulls your cheeks apart again and sucks on two of his fingers to slick them up to properly stretch you for his cock. Because of the healing aspect of your mutation, your body always resets itself so you’re tight as a virgin no matter how many times you take his cock.
His fingers pushing into you has you moaning already and makes you arch your back as your arms reach back to steady yourself on his shoulders. He turns his head to place a light kiss on your wrist as he pumps his fingers in and out of you, scissoring you to open you up.
“L-Logan… Fuck…” You pant and lose yourself to the feeling until he deems you ready and pulls his fingers back. You slightly whimper at the loss, hearing the snickering from some of your friends as they see how needy you can be.
“C’mere, baby,” Logan chuckles and turns you around to face him again, “you all ready?” He asks, a smug smirk on his face with an eyebrow quirked up. You nod with a slightly whiny ‘Mhm’ as he quickly shimmies his sweats off his hips to let his cock bounce up and hit his toned stomach. Once his cock is free and ready, he slides his hands back up your thighs to reach the ribbon over your crotch.
“Time to open my present,” He smirked and places a kiss to your hip as he carefully undoes the bow. After he pulls the tail, the ribbon unravels and lets all the rest of it wrapped around your body go slack. Not wanting to waste too much time but still wanting to appreciate your gift and all the detail, he follows the direction of the ribbon to pull it all off of you.
He pays extra attention to the bits between your thighs and framing your ass, and to the intricate design on your chest. As he unravels the design, he makes sure to stroke over your nipples and even pulls you down to straddle his thighs, once your bottom half is fully free, to lick over them and tweak them. Once the whole ribbon is off, he sets it to the side, making a mental note to keep it since it’s already catered to your measurements.
From there, he slides you forward and brings his fingers to your lips to have you wet them. He bites his lip and groans at the sight of you sucking on the appendages. When he deems them wet enough he slips them out of your mouth and brings them down to his cock to wet it for your entrance.
“Fuck… Logan…” You sigh at the sight of his hand pumping his big, hard cock.
“Don’t worry, doll, you’ll be feeling this in no time.” His smirk showed off his teeth and it reminded you of the night before when he’d marked you up with bites and hickeys that had, unfortunately, already healed. Soon, he brings his fingers back to your stretched hole and slickers it up even more before he guides your hips to position over his tip.
“You gonna be good and take it all, babydoll?” He grunts out as his tip rubs over your hole and his lips pressed to your chest.
“Yes, oh god, yes..!” You call out, feeling almost tortured by his tip only rubbing over where you desperately needed him buried inside you. At your answer, he smirks and helps to lower you down on him, not stopping until your ass is fully seated on his lap.
“Fuuucck… Tight as ever, sweetheart,” He mutters to you as he wraps his arms firmly around your waist and you bury your face in his neck. You go to move your hips to ride him but he tightens his hold around your waist to keep you in place.
“Lo..?” You ask, your voice no louder than a whisper in his ear.
“Just relax, babe, I want you to keep me warm, ‘kay? Just stay like this, baby,” He noses behind your ear and places a kiss just below it. You couldn’t concentrate with his dick stretching you full, but you nodded anyhow and buried your face further in the crook of his neck.
“Summers. You said you guys got a cake?” Logan calls out to Scott as if everything is completely normal.
“Uh, yea!” The brunette says, seemingly surprised out of a stupor as he scrambles to get up. He sends a quick confused look around the room but gives a quick shrug as he jogs to the kitchen.
“Wait, so, you’re just going to… stay like that?” Kurt asks, clearly confused at the concept.
“Yup. Here’s a lesson, bub, you don’t gotta actively fuck to have this kinda intimacy. I’m guessin’ you never heard of Cock warming.” There’s a small pause of silence which you assume is Kurt shaking his head in lieu of a verbal answer, “Well, this is it. You just got your partner sittin’ on your cock. Not movin’ or anything, just sittin’ pretty and bein’ a good little cock sleeve.” He moves his hands to not be clutching you so tight and to rub over your sides and your back, keeping you comfortable and sated.
He presses kisses to your jaw and neck, leading onto your shoulder as they waited for Scott to get back.
“Ow! Shit!” You all hear a quiet hiss from the kitchen after a small ‘zap’ followed by an equally small ‘bang’. You would have giggled at what you all know just happened but the feeling of your gut tightening accentuates every part of you that’s clamping down on Logan.
“Haaappy Biiirthdaay too youu,” You can hear Scott trying sing all wobbly like he’s trying to purely focus on the cake in his hands. Everyone else joins in, though it seems awkward as many of them are still distracted by the situation of you in Logan’s lap. You try and lighten the atmosphere by weakly joining the song which does earn a chuckle from your boyfriend. Luckily, it seems you succeeded when the others start to focus on the events now going on.
Soon enough, Logan has to shift slightly to look at the cake to decide what piece he wants as is customary. You clench around him when he shifts which affects you both, coaxing a moan from you and a pleasured grunt from him. Quickly, he places a light kiss on the crook of your neck before he does back to his task of picking out his piece of cake.
You can feel him give a nod of thanks to Scott when he hands him the small plate. It seems everyone simply indulges in the rest of the party while you sit and cock warm Logan. He offers you bites of cake every so often and occasionally licks frosting off your lip. Once he’s done, his hands return to your waist and he brings you back enough to kiss you properly.
“You’re doing so good for me, sweetheart. You feel amazing,” He murmurs against your lips before he indulges again.
“Wanna be good for you. Wanna be so good for you, Lo,” You let out in a whine. You grind your hips down on his and he inhales a hiss, his hands on your hips tighten at the feeling.
“Mm, fuck, baby… Stay still for me, ‘kay? Oh, fuck, you feel so good, doll, promise…” He grunts out. His hands move to your ass and grab big handfuls of it with a squeeze to still your movements, “If you’re good for the whole party, I’ll let you cum on my cock, alright? Would you like that..?” He asks in a teasing tone as he brings one of his hands forward to stroke your sex slightly, making your intended movements falter from the shock of pleasure he just sent through you.
“Mhmm!” You nod rapidly and completely still your hips. You can’t help but clamp down on him when he continues to lightly stroke your sensitive spots.
“You’re such a good little cock sleeve, sweetheart.” He smirks and brings you forward back into his chest and nestles his head in your neck. He leaves small, teasing bites on you as a promise of what’s to come. If you’re good, that is.

logan loves his girls and cookies...
+
Sundays were quiet in the mansion. They were also Logan’s favorite day of the week because normally that meant he would be able to spend all day with you but a last minute mission had put a damper on this sunday.
Fall had blown in within the week, leaves littered the grounds, reds and yellows with a hint of orange. Rain was falling as Logan and the rest of the team made their way home. You had no idea that he was on his way home. He told you the mission would take around 3 days which ended up taking only two.
Rouge stands in the doorway as you hum softly to yourself along with the music. The countertop of the kitchen was lined with trays of cookies. You continued working on the next batch with a smile on your face. “I know you’re there” you mumble, adding the white chocolate chips into the dough you were working on.
Rouge pushes off the door frame and then makes her way towards you. “What are you up to?” she asks, a grin on her face at all of the cookies. “Making cookies” you turn to face her with a grin. Since your arrival at the Mansion you and rouge have formed a bond, you looked out for her as a mother would, just like Logan always looked out for her.
“Can.. Can I help?” she questions, looking between you and the additional trays of cookies. “Of course you can” grinning, you hand over the bowl of dough you had previously been working on. “Wanna roll those out on the trays?” you question as she smiles.
“Is this what you do when Logan is on a mission?"
She asks, it had been silent except for the soft hum of the radio. “Calms my thoughts” you mumble, looking over at her with a smile. “Do you make cookies a lot?” she asks as you shut the oven and set the timer. Wiping your flour covered hands on your pants, well Logan’s sweatpants.
“I do, how do you think I landed logan? The man loves his sweets, don't tell him I told you though” you question with a grin as she giggles. “What are we making next?” she asks, “well what’s your favorite?” you ask with a raised brow.
Rouge is signing beside you as the radio plays Bon Jovi through the kitchen, dancing around you to put dishes in the sink.
Logan makes his way into the mansion, a smile on his face at the smell that greets him. Jean walks beside him with her own smile, “smells good in here!” She looks over at Logan. “(y/n) is baking” he grumbles and makes his way to the bedroom.
He is quick to discard the leather suit for a pair of jeans and his x-mansion sweatshirt. Making his way down the steps he passes by Scott, who grins with a white chocolate chip cookie in hand. “So good man” he mumbles, mouth full of cookies as Logan can’t help but roll his eyes.
Making his way to the kitchen as you and rouge are now singing along to the Killers Mr.Brightside. Logan smiles, leaning against the door frame as he watches the two of you.
You were using a spatula as a microphone as Rouge used the mixer attachment. She continues mixing her dough, dancing in place as she then looks up from the bowl, grinning as she makes eye contact with Logan.
He holds a finger to his lips as her smile grows. He makes his way into the kitchen then as your own smile makes its way onto your lips. “Your favorite is still cooling” you mumble, turning around to face him with a grin. He makes his way to you, wrapping his arms around your waist to pull you into a hug. Rouge smiles, munching on her S'mores cookie at her request.
It was like watching her mom and dad.
Logan kisses the top of your head then reaches out to her, bringing her into his side as well. “How’re my girls?” he gruffs with a grin as Rouge giggles. “Great! We have made a lot of cookies” she motions to the array of cookies on the table in containers. “I see that” he nods towards the cookie in her hand.
“What's that?” he smirks as she goes to answer him he grabs the piece from her hands, eating it. She gasps, a smile on her face as he pushes his shoulder.
“That is s’mores” she comments and grabs one of the chocolate chip cookies to take to Bobby. “Glad you’re back Lo” she smiles in the doorway, “thanks for letting me make cookies with you (y/n/n)” you smile at her lovingly. “Anytime baby” she smiles and walks off to find Bobby.
Logan leans down to connect your lips with a grin, you smile standing up on your toes to meet him halfway. “I like seeing my two favorite girls together” he mumbles, moving from beside you to grab one of each cookie.
His favorite, chocolate chip with peanut butter, was finally cooled as he made his way out of the kitchen, hands full of cookies.

imagine Nightcrawler ended up finding Sentinel!Reader's body in the frozen lake, in fact imagine he'd be tracking them down through peices of their body they tore off, probably racing to find them and panicking because they could be falling apart of getting attacked by something, hell maybe some delusions sprout from there
Maybe Kurt's found trying to put Reader back together while he's under the belief that they didn't do this to themself, something else must've attacked them- they wouldn't resort to this- right??-
Cube anon
He's panicking.
His heart is pounding, his hands are shaking, tears are starting to stream down his cheeks with each piece found, each drop of liquid, each frayed wire and muddy print...
He feels his heart go cold, plunging like a rock into his stomach, when he sees the lake... and the hole in it, with small drops of liquid by it, and no sign of Reader.
He goes into a blind terrified panic, clawing at the ice and trying to reach his hands in, trying with all his might to feel for Reader, to drag them up, to see that they can't possibly be gone-
Logan, Rogue, Scott, they- they can't be in there! They won't survive! They're wounded, their wires are exposed, they're missing their heating system, please, please please tell him they aren't in there, please, he's begging them-!
They eventually are able to break through the ice, and are able to drag Reader's body out of the water... damaged beyond repair, and broken all over...
***************************************************
The first thing they do, after getting Reader's body back and finding their memory files intact, decide to look through them to see who killed their friend...
Only, to their horror and guilt, find that it wasn't an unknown assailant or an old enemy... but Reader, who did this to themself.
That their pain was too much for them to handle, and feeling like they had no choice and feeling too hurt inside, decided to end their being.
No one takes it well.
Kurt is praying even more now, fervent and pleading and in misery, trying to find any comfort he can over what happened and why he's lost too many friends.
Rogue is there to comfort him, and tries to apologize, now feeling even more despairing because she's lost both Remy and Reader now.
Logan, Scott, Jean, and Ororo are losing sleep, kept up with the memories of Reader, and wishing they'd waited just a bit longer, hadn't said what they'd said, had tried to see the truth sooner... Reader was their own, a friend, a child to them, and they made them feel so bad, that they did this to themself... They get no sleep...
Hank and Charles and Erik are working on growing the bodies for the passed mutants, getting help to bring their spirits back, working on trying to make things right and not lose everything again. It distracts them from Gensoha, it distracts them from Bastion, it distracts them from Gambit and Reader... But the moment all that remains to be brought back are Gambit and Reader... they're making absolute sure no mistakes are made, and feel just a bit better, just a mite of hope, that Reader's spirit is in the afterlife with Gambit, amd had been with the other mutants...
I imagine a few of the extra friends Reader had made, such as Leech amd Jubilee and Roberto and Emma and Madelyn and Omega Red and Sabretooth (look, Reader's really sweet, so why not let them have really nice and really scary friends too?), are ready to see their old friend, who they've missed greatly, and who they think will enjoy this new home and its weird fruit and delicious juice... It would be nice, for everyone tp forget their worries... if they can even remember what they were worried about in the first place... But they can't wait to finally get their little buddy back-! They've missed them so so SO much!!!
Of course, the X-Men, when visiting the spirit realm, are going to have to somehow talk Gambit into letting himself amd Reader go with them, and breach the topic of Reader being a... sentinel... somehow...
Yeah...
Gambit gonna be p*ssed...

Captain America: Civil War - 4
Summary: You make it to the airport but it looks like you're gonna have to fight your way out. Thankfully, Steve called some backup.
Pairing: Avengers x Reader, slight Bucky x Reader
Warnings: Descriptions of violence. Descriptions of injuries. Language. Mentions of Y/N and Y/N/N (=your nickname). My poor attempts at being funny.
Word Count: 3.6K
A/N: It took me a fucking long time to write this, I hope I did the airport scene justice. Here's to hoping the next chapters don't take me as long to write! I did my best, enjoy!

You get to the 6th level of the parking garage at the Leipzig/Halle airport and Steve parks next to a van and you all get out.
Steve gets closer to the van, followed by Sam while you stay behind with Bucky, both of you leaning on the car as you stand on the passenger’s side to be able to see over the car because you’re just that short.
You hear a little snicker from Bucky and look at him with your eyes narrowed as he seems amused by the sight but doesn’t say anything. Your attention goes back to the van as Clint loudly opens the side door.
“What timezone is this?” Scott asks, clearly disoriented as he gets out.
“Come on.” Clint encourages him and pushes him slightly towards Steve. “Come on.”
Scott walks to Steve and shakes his hand with an amazed look. “Captain America.”
“Mr. Lang.” Steve politely says as he shakes his hand.
“It’s an honor.” He says in awe. “I’m shaking your hand too long.” You try your best not to laugh as Scott fangirls over Steve.
“Wow! This is awesome!” He turns and sees Wanda and, in the same cheery voice, says “I know you, too. You’re great!”
Then he turns back to Steve and feels his shoulders saying “Jeez.” and you can’t help but giggle, seeing the scene and everybody’s reactions that go from amused to confused while Scott continues talking.
“Ah, look, I wanna say, I know you know a lot of super people, so… thinks for thanking of me” He says and you giggle more while looking at Bucky to make sure you heard right and his face is as confused as you feel. You turn back to Scott as he says, “Hey, man!”
Sam tries to play it cool by saying “What’s up, Tic Tac?”
“Uh, good to see you.” Scott says, seeming a little confused at the nickname but deciding to blow past it. “Look, what happened last time when I-”
“It was a great audition, but it’ll…” Sam interrupts him, shaking his hand with a chuckle. “It’ll never happen again.”
“It was hilarious!” You comment somewhat loudly and everyone turns to you, Sam glaring while Scott giggles quietly as you wink at him and wave at Wanda and Clint.
“They tell you what we’re up against?” Steve brings everyone’s attention back on the matter at hand before you and Sam start bickering.
“Something about some… psycho-assassins?” Scott says innocently and you keep in your laugh, hoping Bucky is not offended by Scott’s description of the Winter Soldiers.
“We're outside the law on this one. So, if you come with us, you're a wanted man.” Steve warns him.
“Yeah, well, what else is new?” Scott says casually and you grin. Dude is pretty cool.
“We should get moving.” Bucky says.
“We got a chopper lined up.” Clint says to the group, just as the PA starts announcing something in German, which you fortunately understand.
“Dies ist eine Notsituation." You frown. Emergency? “Alle Passagiere müssen den Flughafen sofort evakuieren.”
You’re about to translate when Bucky beats you to it. “They're evacuating the airport.”
“Stark.” Sam says and you roll your eyes. Yeah, that makes sense, that dramatic diva.
“Stark?” Scott echoes, sounding surprised and not in a good way.
“Suit up.” Steve says in his Captain voice and you know better than to disobey.
-
Steve is in his uniform now as he strides through an underpass, then jogs onto a private runway, heading for the chopper when an electro-disabler slams onto the chopper and Steve looks up.
Tony and Rhodey, both in their Iron Man and War Machine suits, descend and land in front of Steve.
You’re in the terminal with Bucky and Sam as the latter scans the airport to find their Quinjet. You can’t really hear what the others are saying, but you can hear Steve through the earpiece.
“Hear me out, Tony.” Steve tries to reason. “That doctor, the psychiatrist, he's behind all of this.”
You see T’Challa leap over a truck and after a moment Steve says “Your highness.”
You can see Tony talking, you assume trying to get Steve to surrender, before you hear Steve again. “You're after the wrong guy.”
Tony says something else you assume to be about Bucky because of what Steve answers back. ”And there are five more super soldiers just like him. I can't let the doctor find them first, Tony. I can't.”
You can see Natasha talk next and then Tony makes a face and you know he’s done, then you can hear him yelling “Underoos!” through Steve’s earpiece.
Suddenly you see a guy in a red onesie swing in and shoot what looks like webs at Steve, stealing his shield and binding his hands before landing on top of a truck a little wobbly.
You furrow your eyebrows and look at Sam to your right but he’s busy with Redwing so you look at Bucky next to him and he looks just as confused as you do. He meets your eyes and raises an eyebrow in question but you simply shrug and look back at the scene when you hear Steve say. “You've been busy.”
Tony tries his hardest to reason with Steve while, as planned, the Captain patiently listens to him while Sam looks for their Quinjet. “You did that when you signed.” He answers calmly at whatever Tony said.
You can see Tony pleading with Steve, and you almost feel bad but are snapped out of it when Sam finally talks. “We found it. Their Quinjet’s in hangar five, north runway.”
You see Steve raise his arms and one of Clint’s arrows flies through the air and breaks the webs on Steve’s hands, freeing him. “Alright, Lang.” Steve says and Scott enlarges, taking the shield from the guy with the red pajamas with a flip and giving it back to Steve.
“I believe this is yours, Captain America.” Scott says and you chuckle. Dude has a serious man crush.
The two men next to you look confused at what is so amusing, and you merely roll your eyes and say “come on.” as the three of you start running.
As you’re going through the terminal, you see the Spider-man dude stick to the glass outside and all three of your attention goes to him.
“What the hell is that?” Bucky asks as you run.
“Everyone’s got a gimmick now.” Sam sounds really annoyed and obviously you have to tease him.
“That’s a person, not a metal bird, Wilson!” You say.
“Don’t bring Redwing into this!” He yells back, glaring at you as he runs.
“You brought Redwing into this!” You snark back and, before Sam can say anything, Spiderman breaks through the glass towards the three of you, Sam tries to protect you and that causes you both to go crashing into the wall.
You can see Bucky throwing a punch but Spiderman catches his fist easily, shocking all three of us while shouting “You have a metal arm?! That is awesome, dude!”
Sam goes flying into Spiderman and takes him away, while you approach Bucky.
“Did that sound like a kid to you?” you ask him, still looking after Sam and Spiderman.
“Doesn’t matter. Let’s go.” He says starting to go after the other two.
“Matters a little…” You mumble while following Bucky.
You can hear Wanda and Clint talking through the comms, to Tony you assume when Wanda says “You locked me in my room.” and then you hear Clint say “made you look.” just as you see through the window all the cars flying down thanks to Wanda’s magic.
Spiderman wings through the rafters in the terminal, chasing Sam who flies backwards firing shots. Spiderman stops on a high beam and just then Bucky throws a giant piece of metal at him.
You can hear Spiderman yell back “Hey buddy, I think you lost this!” before throwing back the piece of metal, causing Bucky to cover you with his metal arm while it flies back, thankfully missing you both.
Sam takes the opportunity to kick Spiderman and try to bring him down, but Spiderman swings again and webs Sam’s wings, which sends him crashing to the floor. As he gets up, Spiderman webs his hands to the railing behind him and then sticks to a column and starts nerding out about Sam’s wings as you run to help Sam, Bucky right behind you.
You’re too focused on Sam to notice Spiderman swinging towards him at the same time that you get to him, luckily Bucky wraps his arms around you as all three of you crush into the railing and down to the floor on the level below.
As you all land Spiderman quickly webs Sam’s arms together, Bucky’s metal arm to the floor and then your arms, sticking you to Bucky since he was still holding you with one arm as you basically landed on him.
While Spiderman talks over you, you can faintly hear Sam messing around with his gear and you hope he’s doing something useful. Just as Spiderman is about to shoot webs again, Redwing attaches to his wrist and drags him off.
After a beat of silence Bucky says “You couldn’t have done that earlier?” to which Sam answers “I hate you.” and you roll your eyes and say “God, you two are children.”
You do your best to grab your pocket knife and, after a moment of struggling, you succeed then cut the webs off of you and Bucky with a little difficulty. You get up and cut the webs off of Bucky’s metal arm before going to Sam and helping him out of the webs too.
Your heads all snap to the window when you hear the sound of an explosion and can see it just as you hear Scott through the comms saying “Oh, man. I thought it was a water truck. Uh… sorry.”
You frown and turn to Sam and Bucky. “That can’t be good. Let’s go.” The three of you run out of the terminal as fast as you can and when you get outside you meet up with Steve, Scott, Clint and Wanda, all of you running towards the Quinjet.
“Come on!” Steve yells, but your run is interrupted when suddenly a yellow laser makes a line in front of you and you’re all stopped in your tracks. A fucking laser. You look up and see Vision hovering over you.
“Captain Rogers. I know you believe what you're doing is right.” He starts while the rest of Tony’s team gathers around him. Tony flies in while holding Natasha, Rhoday flies T’Challa and Spiderman swings down with one of Dora Milaje, T’Challa’s personal guards, that you saw at the FBI bunker and you think her name is Ayo. “But for the collective good you must surrender now.” Vision finishes talking and there is a moment of silence where you all just look at the opponent directly in front of you, which in your case is Ayo.
“What do we do, Cap?” Sam asks.
“We fight.” Is all Steve says and you hesitate for a second looking at him and then at Ayo.
“Anybody wants to switch?” You ask while looking at your teammates, some look amused but Steve kind of glares at you. “No? Alrighty, then.” You look back ahead as you all start walking, then jogging faster and faster until you’re full on running towards the opposite team.
Tony, Rhodey, Sam, Wanda and Vision take flight and then the first sound that can be heard is Tony’s fist meeting Steve’s shield.
Clint shoots an arrow at Vision that dodges it, Sam bumps into Rhodey mid-air, Scott shrinks and jumps on Natasha, Wanda shoots her magic at Peter while he shoots webs at her and T’Challa straight up jumps onto Bucky.
You lose track of what everyone else is doing once you come face to face with Ayo, who loses no time hitting you with her spear but you luckily dodge it, throwing a punch of your own that she easily avoids. The only thing you can tell is that Nat and Clint are near you fighting, and so are Bucky and T’Challa.
You take out your extendable baton, glad that Clint suggested it, and try to hit Ayo repeatedly, but you miss everytime. You’re getting frustrated when you finally land a hit to her cheek and grin, but you quickly regret it when she kicks you hard on the ribs, sending you flying back.
Ayo jumps on you and raises her spear right over your face, but before she can hit you Wanda sends her flying back far away from you.
You don’t have time to thank her when she’s throwing Natasha off of Clint and into a metal container.
“Geez, Wanda, go easy on them.” You tell her and she gives you a pointed look, before looking at Clint and saying “You were pulling your punches” before walking away.
You and Clint exchange a look but you get distracted by T’Challa throwing Bucky into a container near you. You get into action right away and just as T’Challa is about to claw at Bucky, you push the supersoldier out of the way and you both go stumbling to the side while Wanda throws T’Challa into a big metal container far away from you.
You and Bucky roll a little and, when you stop, you end on top of him. He looks up at you and whispers “Thank you.”
“Anytime, Soldier.” You wink at him and get up, helping him up too. Wanda joins you with an amused look on her face.
“Still think we should go easy on them?” She asks smugly, and you merely roll your eyes.
You’re thankfully distracted by Spiderman knocking Steve off his feet but when you go to help him, you’re intercepted by Natasha.
As you start doing hand-to-hand combat with her, you can hear Scott calling Clint “Arrow Guy” and you almost chuckle, but don’t let it distract you because you know Natasha could seriously hurt you, although it seems like she’s going as easy on you as you are on her.
“Nothing’s changed between us, right Tasha?” You ask, concerned about your friendship as you keep fighting, though it almost feels like any other sparring match you’ve ever had.
She laughs and nods. “Nothing, Y/N/N”.
You grin at the nickname and say “Good” before kicking her a little harder than you’ve ever had and sending her flying back, then you run to Steve and get to him as he points at himself and says. “Brooklyn.”
You frown at him and then look at Spiderman with one of those giant metal walkways people use to get to the planes and your eyes widen.
“That seems a little excessive.” You say, looking back at Steve.
“He’ll be fine.” Steve says shortly and starts jogging away, signaling to you to follow him, which you reluctantly do.
You and Steve are running when you hear Scott say “Uh-oh” through the comms and you frown. “Are you okay, Scott?”
You can hear him panting freaking out, saying “Oh boy. Whoa!”
You and Steve are joined by Bucky as you’re hiding behind some containers and you’re about to ask Scott if he’s okay again when Bucky talks and you turn to him. “We gotta go. That guy's probably in Siberia by now.” You can't help but think how fucking blue his eyes are.
“We gotta draw out the flyers.” Steve says, snapping you out of it and you make up your mind.
“I'll take Vision.” You tell him “You two get to the jet.”
You know Steve’s about to argue when Sam cuts in “No, you get to the jet! All three of you!” He says through the comms. “The rest of us aren't getting out of here.”
“As much as I hate to admit it, if we're gonna win this one, some of us might have to lose it.” Clint chimes in.
You and Steve look at each other and it’s like Sam can sense your hesitation as he says “This isn't the real fight, guys.”
“Alright, Sam, what's the play?” Steve says, his eyes darting between you and Bucky.
“We need a diversion, something big.” he says and you try to think about what you could do.
“I got something kind of big, but I can't hold it very long.” Scott offers “On my signal, run like hell. And if I tear myself in half… don't come back for me.”
You frown and look at Steve and Bucky who seem just as confused as you do. “He's gonna tear himself in half?” Bucky asks.
“You're sure about this, Scott?” Steve asks into his comm.
“I do it all the time. I mean once… in a lab. Then I passed out.” He tries and fails to reassure you.
“That doesn’t make me feel better, like at all.” You say looking from Bucky to Steve, who seem to agree.
You can hear Scott mumbling “I'm the boss. I'm the boss. I'm the boss. I'm the boss. I'm the BOSS!” to himself and then suddenly he grows into a fucking giant of 60-65 feet.
“Jesus fucking Christ.” You say almost in shock.
“I guess that's the signal.” Steve says and starts running towards the jet, you and Bucky following closely.
You can hear Sam saying “Way to go, Tic Tac!” as you run, going past Scott, who stops T’Challa from following you by kicking a bus into him, then Rhodey almost gets to you, but he’s stopped by Wanda.
The three of you are getting closer to the jet when a tower starts falling over the entrance, courtesy of Vision, but Wanda keeps it up with her magic for you.
As you pick up your pace and approach it, you’re stopped by a spear landing right in front of Bucky, missing his foot by a centimeter.
Ayo is about to jump on Bucky but before either him or Steve can do anything to stop her, you throw yourself on her, sending her stumbling back and to the ground, enough distance between you that you have the opportunity to look behind you at Bucky, Steve just behind him with a look that’s both impressed and shocked at your reflexes.
“I got this. Go.” You tell the two men even though your eyes are fixated on Bucky.
“Are you sure?” he asks you with a hint of worry and you grin.
“It’s nothing I can’t handle, Sergeant.” Steve smirks and nods, moving towards the jet again, but Bucky hesitates. You know Wanda won’t be able to keep the path clear forever so you try to reassure him.
“Go, I’ll be fine. Go!” You yell the last word, which seems to snap him out of it and he turns around with a nod, running at full speed towards the Quinjet.
You turn around just in time to see Ayo running towards you, but this time you’re not fast enough and she sends you falling back. You quickly get up and do your best to keep her occupied while the tower that Wanda was keeping up falls to the ground.
Or, more accurately, you're taking her punches while landing little to none yourself.
Ayo gets distracted for a second when she sees Natasha stunning T’Challa and that’s enough to give you the opportunity to take the upper hand and take her down. Unfortunately you don’t notice how close the two of you are to her spear but then again neither does she.
You see Giant Scott get taken down and, while still holding Ayo down as best as you can, you say worriedly through your comm “Scott? Scott, talk to me, are you okay?” There's a pause while you hold your breath and then he says “Does anyone have any orange slices?” And you let out a breathy laugh, both amused and impressed by his resilience.
In the time it took you to check on Scott, Ayo managed to get a hold of her spear, almost driving it through your arm. Thankfully she misses, though it still leaves a pretty deep cut.
Your eyes widen and as you get off of her she wastes no time to go help T’Challa. You lay down on the ground while holding your arm where the cut is and can see the Quinjet taking off so you let out a relieved sigh.
You sit up and, when you see Vision going to Wanda, you smile and get up to gocheck on Scott.
“You alright, big guy?” You ask him as you approach him with a little bit of a limp and he nods chuckling.
“I am. Are you alright? “ He eyes your arm and you nod. “I’m fine.”
Clint approaches you and wraps an arm around you to help you stay up, knowing you’re not gonna ask for help but he can clearly see by your quickly paling face that you need it.
You look towards the Quinjet and your eyes widen when you see Rhodey quickly falling down, Tony and Sam both diving to help him. “Shit…”
You all watch in shock as he hits the ground, Tony lands right beside him and then Sam lands a little further away. You can hear Sam saying “I’m sorry.” right before Tony shoots him and he goes flying backwards.
“SAM!” You yell and try to start making your way to him even if he’s far, but Clint holds you back with his arm around your waist, Scott’s hand on your uninjured arm.
You hold your breath until you hear the faint “I’m okay” in your ear, followed by Sam’s grunts and you relax, mumbling “Thank fucking god…”
You look around the airport, all the destruction and the people you still love despite it all.
Steve and Bucky made it out of here, so you won. At what cost though?
You can just hope this was all worth it.

Star Park AU: Kyle Broflovski Edition
-> Moved back to the Valley after graduating and getting his doctorate. (He's essentially where Harvey is in game.)
-> Couldn't find work out i the city so he moved back to the Valley
-> His parents stayed in the city but they allowed Ike to move back with Kyle as long as he agreed to take good care of him.
-> He has files on everyone's medical history and they're organized based on who's the easiest patient to deal with to who he has to literally drag in to his office. It goes: Karen, Wendy and Nichole, Kenny, Craig, Heidi, Tolkien and Scott, Butters, Ike and Jimmy, Tweek, Sharon, Shelly, Bebe, Stan, Clyde, All of the Goths, Randy, and finally Cartman.
-> He makes monthly walks to the Wizard tower to check on the Goths. They've told him before they don't need it because they have magic but he doesn't believe them.
-> Kyle and Wendy work hard to make things easier for Jimmy around town. The mayor fights them over the funding. Wendy has to practically drag Kyle away from fighting the mayor.
-> He's the only person that Scott trusts with his meds, always making sure to pick his medication up.
-> When he's not working he checks in with Heidi over Ike's education, sometimes he sits in and helps out when he can.

Heart Event @ 2:
Kyle is outside with his brother, one of the rare times he's free from working. He's sitting on the bench at the park reading through his medical files. Ike is playing by himself looking a little lonely. Farmer walks up and sees him sadly rocking on the spring rider. Ike tells the Farmer that he misses playing with his brother, it just seems like he never has time for him anymore. Farmer thinks for a moment before walking over to Kyle, who only notices them when they sit down. He greets them with a smile, quickly going back to his reading. >> Do you ever take a break? How can you be on your laptop right now? It's so nice out! (-) >> Ike looks a little sad, doesn't he? (+) If First Option: Kyle gets slightly annoyed, Farmer should know better than anyone here that he can't just stop working. He notes rather dryly he would have thought he'd be free of their lecturing, seeing as he gets enough of it from Stan.
"I appreciate your concern really, but I'm this towns only doctor last time I checked. I happen to like reading outside."
If Second Option: Kyle looks up from his laptop with concern on his face. He frowns when he realizes that he's been ignoring his brother, and how Ike is rocking back and forth with no care. Turning to the Farmer, he expresses gratitude for bringing it to his attention. He feels back for not seeing it himself, he was just hoping to catch up a little on work before he went home. He closes his laptop, putting it to the side, and stands up. Farmer jumps up with them and offers to play with him and his brother!
"Then I hope you're ready for the longest game of hide-n-seek of your life. You didn't have anything planned for the rest of the day right?"
Heart Event @ 4:
Kyle visits the Farmer early in the morning, greeting them while they're walking to the shipping bin. He apologizes for showing up unannounced. He would have called but he didn't think the Farmer would be able to hear the phone from the fields. Farmer doesn't seem to mind which makes him feel better, physically relaxing. Looking past them, he compliments their hard work on turning the fields into an actual farm. Afterwards he goes on to tell them that their crops have made things better even if they don't realize it. Tells them that the fresh food is better for the townsfolk than Jojo's food. >> I don't actually do that much farming. I'm more into fishing or mining. (/) >> Thanks Kyle! It's nice to get a little appreciation! (/) >> I didn't think of it that way...you really think of everything huh? (/) If First Option: Kyle goes quiet, the longer the silence the more his face turns red. Embarrassment dusting his cheeks. Under his breath he says something about the farm at least looking clean.
"At least your farm looks cleaner then Mr. Marsh's. Smells better too."
If Second Option: Kyle chuckles and tells them there's no reason to thank them! He's in the same boat sometimes and that even now he's here's to do his job. He wonders if anyone else has been out this way yet?
"I just realized you haven't had a checkup with me yet. Swing by the clinic okay? I don't want you to get sick."
If Third Option: Farmer turns the table on them, Kyle gets flustered over the small praise. At least he takes it as praise. He scoffs, telling them to stop being so humble. Being a Farmer is hard work and they should realize the good they do.
"Please. Not just anyone can get Cartman to eat a vegetable. You're good at what you do!"
Heart Event @ 5:
Next time Farmer walks into the clinic they walk back into Kyle's office. He's surprised to actually see them, telling them that he is pleased that he didn't have to drag them in. When Farmer looks at him confused, Kyle tells them that sometimes he has to go and "collect" some of the townsfolk for their appointments. So, it's nice that there's someone else so willing to come in. After a moment he gets a little embarrassed that he started rambling again. Farmer is just easy to talk to, they listen. Before they can comment on the blush on his face, he gets down to business. Kyle opens his laptop and looks up at them, he begins to ask Farmer about themselves, wanting an insight on their medical history.
"Sorry, you didn't come here to listen to me complain. It's just easy to talk to you. A-anyway, before I keep making an ass of myself, lets get started on filling out your medical history!"
Heart Event @ 6:
Farmer is walking from town to the mountains, they can hear faint shouting. Walking closer, they see Kyle and Ike standing next to the mountain lake away from Kenny's house. Ike is sitting on the wooden bridge with his face in his hands, looking more and more upset. When Farmer gets close enough to hear what they're saying clearly, they overhear what the argument is about. Kyle is upset that Ike's grades are slipping, telling him that he needs to put in a little more effort in school. Apparently, he's been blowing off his homework and Heidi is having a hard time getting him to pay attention in class. Ike complains that all Kyle ever talks to him about is how he's doing in school and his stupid job, that he doesn't care to ask Ike about anything else. He asks him when was the last time they did anything fun that didn't require the Farmer having to all but pull him away from work. Ike cuts Kyle off before he can rebuttal. Shouting something about how he's acting just like their mother and he's supposed to be his brother, not his parent! Kyle gets upset and snaps back at him, telling him that he won't apologize for caring about Ike's well being and he wouldn't have to act like their mother if Ike just grew up a little. This makes Ike tear up, he stands up and shouts that he should just go back to the city then. Kyle stands there watching his brother storm off, leaving him alone next to the lake, he looks destroyed. Farmer walks out from where they were hiding, and when Kyle doesn't get upset that Farmer was listening in they know he's really torn up. It takes him some time but he eventually address them, telling them that he never meant to fill the role of a parent. He knows he's hard on Ike, he just wants to see his little brother grow into the best version of himself. The Valley is good to him, better then the city was. He knows it's good for Ike too.
"Am I being that overbearing? I mean...I'm in charge of him. I promised Ma that I'd look after him! I'm not asking for much right? Just for him to apply himself more!"
>> Maybe you're not as right as you think you are. (-) >> Does he know that? Have you told him how you feel? (+) >> I don't think you're really listening to your brother. (+) >> Lighten up Kyle, he's just throwing a tantrum. He'll get over it. (-) If First Option: Kyle looks up with a flash of anger in his eyes, he can't believe what he's hearing. How could Farmer say something like that? He thought they were friends! As Kyle storms off he glares at them.
"Jesus Christ, if you talk to your friends like this then I'd hate to hear how you talk to people you hate!"
If Second Option: Kyle thinks on both Farmer and Ike's words. Like he's replaying the whole thing in his head again. When was the last time he talked to Ike about how he feels? About anything that wasn't him being a hard ass.
"No...I guess I haven't. Ugh I'm an asshole, he deserves to be a kid. I really do sound like our mom. Thanks for listening again Farmer."
If Third Option: Kyle's brows furrow, he wants to be upset but Farmer's right. He makes his frustration known and somehow in the same breath is grateful that Farmer said it. He tells Farmer that this isn't the first time their stubborn attitudes have clashed. Something they both get from their Mother.
"I think if you were anyone else I would be furious but...you're right. It does make me feel a little better to know I'm not the only one who's stubborn. I'll apologize to him in the morning. Goodnight and thank you Farmer."
If Fourth Option: Kyle snaps as that comment strikes a nerve. He goes to yell again but he just stops, closes his eyes, and takes a deep breath. When he opens his eyes he looks past them and wishes them a good night. Leaving them alone because just the thought of responding to that is exhausting.
Heart Event @ 8:
It's late, later than Farmer realized. As they go to leave the mines, a group of Shadow beasts corner them. It cuts to them limping out of the mines. Beaten down and exhausted, they collapse against the side of the mountain. The last thing they see is Kyle running over to them and the dim light of a flashlight. When they wake up again, they're laying in one of the beds of Kyle's clinic. Their wounds are bandaged and cleaned. Looking over in a daze, Kyle's eyes meet theirs and there's a look of relief. He closes the first aid kid sitting next to them, picks up the medical tools and puts them away. Farmer can hear him breathing deeply, like this is the first time he's able to. Eventually he breaks the silence, speaking as softly as he can. He scolds them for being reckless, and that they're lucky that Ned was nearby to hear that fight. Kyle stops in the middle of his lecture, catching himself doing it again. Lectures are the last thing Farmer needs right now, they need sleep. Farmer just smiles and shakes their head at him and it almost makes Kyle laugh. He can't believe the energy they have, how they're even awake right now. He promises to keep them company, that he'll be right here for them when they wake up. Time passes again as Farmer drifts back to sleep, when they wake up again they see Kyle asleep in the chair next to them.
"Do you have any idea how worried I was?! Seeing you bleeding out in the dirt like that! I know you can be more responsible then that, what were you-.... no I'm doing it again. I'm sorry. Look just get some sleep, you need to rest." - "What? I'm not going anywhere, someone has to look over you and make sure you actually get rest. I swear I'll turn my back and you'll try and get out of that bed."
When given the bouquet:
"!! Y-You're not fucking with me right? This isn't just some cruel prank? ...Then of course I will- be your partner that is!"
Heart Event @ 10:
Farmer walks outside of their house to Kyle sitting on their porch. A picnic basket sitting next to him, a bottle of wine sticking out of the basket, and a red-checkered blanket tucked neatly inside. When he hears the doo open he perks up and stands up quickly. With a grin on his face, he greets them with an energetic good morning. He holds up the basket telling them that he wants to take them out. The day is beautiful and he intends to spend as much of it with them. Farmer agrees, leaving the farm going south past Tegridy Farms. Kyle takes them near the cliffs overlooking the ocean. The two sit there enjoying the picnic that Kyle's put together. When he sees how happy Farmer is with the food, he goes on to tell them that he learned how to cook from his Mother. The conversation leads him to ramble about how he was the only one who could cook in the friend group for a while. That Stan used to beg him to make dinner so he didn't have to eat with his family. Farmer continues to just look happy with everything. Good food and getting to listen to him talk about his best friend, watching as he lights up! Then they feel a rain drop hit their forehead. Looking up, the two se as the sky starts to darken and rain clouds begin to roll in. Immediately Kyle throws his jacket over the Farmer and urgently moves them towards the trees. As the rain starts to come down harder, Kyle looks so disappointed. Farmer takes their hand giving it a little squeeze, breaking down that wall of anxiety. He lets out a sigh, expressing his frustration. He tells them that he wanted today to be perfect, now it's ruined because of the rain. Farmer laughs and pulls them down, planting a kiss on their cheek. Kyle's face turns red from the sweet action. He goes to kiss them back, to return the kiss, but as he does water drops down from the top of the trees. They're both soaked now, water clinging to their clothes. Kyle looks down and just laughs. He wraps an arm around them and pulls them in for a kiss. Pulling away, he brushes his fingers across their face and whispers.
"You always find a way to make things better. I don't feel like I have to be perfect all the time, that it's okay to mess up because I know you'll still love me. My worries just seem to melt away. I love you so much."
Heart Event @ 14:
Ever since Kyle moved in he's slowed down, taking better care of himself. No longer piling too much on his plate, so it surprises the Farmer to se him falling back into old habits. Kyle is pacing around the house in a huff. Ike tells the Farmer that their parents called and that they're making a surprise visit soon. Kyle stops his frantic cleaning for just a moment to stress how much he hates this. He's worried that they're going to be mad because he didn't invite them to the wedding, even when they already reassured him that they're not. Farmer questions why they're coming, which Kyle just sighs and tells them that they want to meet his partner. Farmer reassures Kyle that everything will be fine, that they can't wait to meet his parents. He just grumbles and tells them to hold off on that excitement. Once again Farmer calms the man down, Kyle takes a deep breath and watches his beloved partner get to work. Between the two of them and Ike, they're able to get everything together. Just as dinner is finished, Kyle's parents arrive. Kyle introduces the Farmer to his parents who immediately start gushing over them. The dinner table is set and soon the entire family is sitting around the, making small talk. Sheila starts asking Farmer a list of questions, trying to get to know them. Why did they become a Farmer? What drew them to the Valley? >> Honestly? I needed to start over. Grandpa gave me a second chance and I guess I just fell in love with this little town. >> The city life was too loud. I needed something quiet and easy. >> The Valley needed help! I couldn't just ignore it! If First Option: Sheila smiles and puts her hand on her chest. She tells the Farmer that it's incredibly sweet of their grandfather to look after them. She thinks it's great that they love the town that Kyle grew up in! If Second Option: Sheila doesn't agree that the city is that bad, but she goes on to tell the Farmer she grew up a city girl. She does agree that city life can sweep you away if you're not careful, she's glad the Farmer taught Kyle to slow down. If Third Option: Sheila isn't quite sure she understands what Farmer is trying to get at, but if it's what drives them then who is she to argue? She's just happy that Ike's grades have improved and that Kyle is happy. Either way dinner is lively, once they're finished they thank the Farmer for everything. For taking care of their sons and welcoming them into their lovely home. Sheila admits that she was skeptical at first but after seeing how Kyle looks at the Farmer, she's wholeheartedly approves of their marriage. They leave with a quick hug, letting Kyle know that they'll be staying at the tavern for a few days before going home. As they make the trip back to town, Kyle wraps his arm around the Farmer and smiles softly.
"They really like you, not that I had any doubts they wouldn't. You're amazing. I always knew you were, ever since you moved to this town. I'm just glad they love you almost as much as I do."
Random Marriage Quotes!!
"Good morning my love. Yeah... that still feels weird to say but...I kind of like it. Waking up next to you is everything." "Please make sure you're being careful when you go out. I'm not going to stop you, just come home to me. Please." "Look I love you, but please if you have to go to the mines...shower before you come to bed. Shower with you? That-...isn't a bad idea." "Read up on how to take care of crops on my lunch break! I hope you don't mind that I already watered the plants for you!" "Ike really likes all the animals, he actually woke up before to feed them all!" "Do...do you think my hair is stupid? Cartman said something about it today and I know I shouldn't put merit in what he says but...You like my hair? And my nose? But I didn't- God you're too good to me." "I always had this fear of getting married, I was afraid that I'd end up like my parents. They're not bad just...never mind. Just thank you for being my partner." "Hey, take this medicine with you. If you get into trouble it will help. I don't care if it tastes bad! I don't want to find you passed out again!" "I'm taking Ike over to Kenny's today, he wants to hang out with Karen. Feel free to swing by when you're done doing what you need to do! The guys would love to see you." "You know I love you right? And I'll tell you it as many times as you need. You make it so easy to love you that I'm worried I'm not enough."

With the time now back in Penelope's hand, you're able to get an address for the woman the unsub killed. You head right over there with the police. You don't bother bringing the ambulance because the unsub took the body with him when he left. You don't have to see what happened through energies because you saw it in his live. Penelope is taking this hard because she wasn't fast enough even though Derek tries to make her see that it wasn't her fault. The reason why she's taking it so hard is because this guy is good at what he does and is all up on her turf about it. Hotch wants her to flag the viewers so you can bring them in until one of them gives you what you need--the unsub's name.
"Her name was Allison Kittridge, twenty-nine. This was her first house," Emily sighs.
"So, this unsub accelerated his timetable and his MO. He was moving faster because he was angry. The press conference told him something about himself he didn't like so he rushed. Which means he made a mistake. Now, what was it?" Derek asks.
"It wasn't the cameras. He remembered to take those with him," you say.
"It wasn't the body. He took that with him, too." Emily looks at Derek. "Hey, did Garcia find anything unusual with Allison's wireless?"
"No. Records show that it was a basic DSL installation." Derek looks at the desk where her computer sits and notices something off about the wires. "Y/N, help me move this table." You do and he kneels on the ground to inspect the wires. He holds one up with a gloved hand. "Do you see this? This is what brings the internet from the street into the house. This isn't DSL. It's a fiber-optic cable. It's a completely different type of connection. We just found his mistake."
You three head back to the station to tell the rest about it, and Emily lets the detective know over the phone.
"If there's already an internet connection in the house, why does he bring his own with him? Is it the upload speed?" Hotch asks.
"A fiber-optic allows him to stream large amounts of video and maintain a chat room. That's dozens of computers connected to him at once. He'd need a lot of bandwidth for something like that."
"We checked all the ISPS. Why didn't he turn up?"
"I get mail, phone calls, and people knock on my door all the time to see if I want to upgrade my internet. They'll offer to come inside and demonstrate how much faster their connection is."
"Do you think that's the ruse that gets him in the door?"
"It makes sense," Emily shrugs. "During his demonstration, he would have access to his victims' computers. On his way out, he might ask for a glass of water or something that serves as s distraction, something to buy enough time to plant that first camera."
"We need to find out what company owns this cable."
"Detective Fordham's already hunting that down, and there's an ID number on it so it shouldn't take long."
"We'll have Y/N and Reid follow up. I need you two to track down who was in the chat room."
"Did Garcia finish her sweep?"
"Yeah. Most were international, three were local. I bet one of them knows the unsub."
Hotch and Rossi went to talk to an older man named Austin Chapman whose name was one of the ones in the chat room. He denied having seen the video and was confused about the murder that took place. Derek brought in a man named Scott Burns, and Emily
Emily and Derek brought the other two men who were local back to the station as well as Austin who kept claiming he didn't know what video Rossi was talking about.
You and Spencer go to the place where the cable is manufactured, and one of the managers meets you down in the lobby. After a brief explanation of what is going on, you hand her the cable from Allison's house.
"Yes, this is our cable."
"Mrs. Hightower, we went over your records, and it turns out that none of the four victims signed up with your service."
"Four? God, those poor women," she sighs.
"We think it's an employee using your cable as a ruse to get into the house. Can you think of anyone that might be--"
"Mac Jones," she cuts you off. "He worked on one of our trucks as we laid the fiber in with the regular phone line."
"You're certain that's him?"
"We caught him hoarding it. He said it was for a home project until we got angry phone calls that he was going door to door offering free fiber-optic installation. We fired him on the spot."
"We need his information.
"Absolutely."
With the unsub's name, you and Spencer take it back to the station and call Penelope about it. She doesn't need a lot of time to bring up Mac's information on the big screen for everyone to see. The man on the screen doesn't match up with the ID you got from the phone company.
"Ladies and gentlemen, meet Mac Jones."
"That isn't the ID we got from the phone company," Spencer says.
"That's because last year, Mr. Jones had his identity stolen. The unsub took his license and his credit card, used them for two weeks, and then moved on. Now, I can't tell you who the unsub is pretending to be now, but since a picture's worth a thousand databases, I can tell you who he was." She pulls up another picture of another man. This one. This is your unsub. "Robert Johnson, three-time loser, and arrested for possession of torture videos. He spent some time in a halfway house before he disappeared. I found a blog of his online. Here's a quote: Next time you won't be able to stop me."
"That's his narcissism again," Spencer says. "He was furious that he got caught and remakes himself as a killer. It allows him to free the impulses that were always there. Garcia, is there a pattern to the identities that he steals?"
"No. He's really disciplined about it. Once he burns through an identity, he never uses the same one again. Do you know how I describe some suspects as being off the grid? This guy is totally the opposite. He's all over the grid. He's manipulating the grid. He never stays in one place for very long."
"How do we find out who he is now?" Hotch asks.
"I don't think we're going to. The man known as Robert Johnson is in the wind. If he's this flexible with his name, his real name, forget it. There's another way we can find him, though. His online name or his hacker handle. That's the name that matters to him."
"Wouldn't he have hundreds of those, too?" you ask.
"Most definitely, but remember how I said hackers are loyal? They stick to certain names. That's how you identify yourself to other hackers. That's how the FBI caught me. If you find the handle, you'll find the unsub. I'm on it. I promise."
You leave their side and walk into the room where the interrogation rooms are held. One window is to your right--the room where Rossi and Austin are in. Two windows are to your left--the one closest to you has Derek and his man. The one farther from you has Emily and her man. You cross your arms and observe all three.
"Look, I wish I could help you find the guy posting these videos, but I never visited that website, man."
"Right," Derek scoffs.
"Maybe somebody broke into my computer or something."
"See, Scott, we think it was you. We found some pretty interesting movies in your hard drive to back up our theory." He looks at the file and names the titles of the movies. "White Girls Can't Hump'. That's nice. 'Schindler's Fist'. I bet that's riveting. See, this one right here, this is the one that got my attention. 'The Erotic Awakenings of Sandy'. How old was the girl in that video? What was she, twelve?"
"I can explain," Scott stutters.
"Shut up! This is what's weird to me. Most of your files were locked away, but not the child porn. We found it in like five minutes. It wasn't password-protected or anything. How does someone who's supposed to be so smart with computers do something so fucking dumb?"
Scott looks around with a sigh before leaning in.
"Can we cut a deal?"
"You tell me what I want to know and then maybe we'll talk about a deal."
Scott relents.
"Before this guy accepts you into the club, he gives you the illegal stuff like kid torture. He has to know that you're risking as much as he is."
"Mutually assured destruction. If you rat him out, he takes you with him." Scott nods. "What's his name?"
"I don't know. We never met."
Derek slams his hand on the table, scaring Scott.
"Don't you try and play me, kid. His online name."
"Watcher89."
"Were there any other names?"
"Not that I could find. There's something else you should know. He sent out a message. He said tonight would be the best one yet."
"He's attacking tonight?"
"Of course. He knows you're watching him."
Derek turns his body toward the window, locking eyes with you. He knows someone is standing there. Emily walks out of her room without so much as a glance in your direction. Her guy must have said the same thing. You sigh and turn to Rossi and Austin.
"What's interesting, Mr. Chapman, is the two other men we talked to had a form of collateral on their hard drive."
"I'm sorry, collateral?"
"Hardcore porn. Illegal. Rough."
Austin's mouth opens and closes as if he's shocked.
"I would never look at something like that. You have all my computers. You must have searched them."
"Yes, and we found nothing."
"So, can I go?"
"No. You see, there's still that nagging question as to why you were logged on to that chat room last night."
"Look, Agent Rossi, I'm at a loss here. First of all, I'm all thumbs when it comes to computers. Second of all, my grandkids were at the house last night for a sleepover. They were in bed by 8:30. We were so exhausted, my wife and I were asleep by 9:00. Please! Ask her. She'll say the same thing. I don't think I even checked my email last night."
Damn, he's a good liar. You believe him when he says he doesn't have illegal porn on his computer but the unsub's energy is all over him. Rossi takes out a picture of Robert and hands it to him
"Do you know this man?"
Austin takes out glasses so he can see the picture better.
"Yes. He came into my store a while back."
"Why?"
"He said he liked my website, which my son designed for me, by the way. We chatted about appliances and he bought a few items and left."
"Did he have a name?"
"No idea. We talked for only five minutes."
"I'll be right back."
Rossi takes the file and leaves the room just as Hotch walks into the room you're in. He looks at you and you only nod to him.
"Do you believe him?" Hotch asks.
"I believe he doesn't fit the profile of the other voyeurs. They're good with computers. They have hacking experience."
"He wasn't lying about the computer stuff. He doesn't know them or anything. He does know Robert. His energy is all over him. I think if Robert sent child porn to the other voyeurs to shut them up, he's somehow involved with the victims. Their bodies have to go somewhere, right?"
"Garcia checked out the website. She said it was crude. You can't even order anything from it."
"Maybe Y/N's right. Maybe the unsub manipulated him for something else and used his network as part of his spoofing."
"Maybe?" you ask.
Hotch's phone rings and he answers Penelope's call.
"Go ahead, Garcia."
"I got Watcher89."
You three leave the room and head back to the team to see what Penelope is doing on her computer since she's still hooked to the WiFi here.
"Does he have his own network?"
"He doesn't need one. He's got a whole city to leech off of."
"He's doing this again tonight. Can you send me a list of networks he's hacked recently? Those are the potential victims."
Penelope pulls up the map and twenty red dots appear on it.
"I have twenty hits."
"Filter out men and families. He only kills single women."
Eight dots left.
"Eight left."
"Garcia, do you have any pictures?" Spencer asks.
"Coming your way."
Penelope puts all eight pictures on the screen so Spencer can study their facial features. He points to Lucy Masters who has short dark hair, green eyes, and high cheekbones.
"It's her. She's the one. She's the only one with facial symmetry that would appeal to him."
Once you get her address, you head over to her house quickly. You don't have to set foot inside to know she's not in there. Still, Derek and Emily walk in through the front and announce themselves.
"Lucy Master? We're the FBI. We're coming in!"
A quick sweep of the house indicates that she isn't here but her car is. You walk into the living room and look at the TV which suddenly turns on by itself. Lucy is on the screen with her hands tied over her head with two giant meat hooks on either side of her. She has a gag in her mouth to prevent her from screaming. She tries to struggle but she isn't going anywhere. You look at the top of the TV and notice a small camera perched on the edge.
"Guys? You might want to come see this." Derek and Emily walk into the living room. "See that camera? I bet he can hear and see us."
You look at her surroundings and see if you can determine where she is. What do you see? Metal walls. She's in some sort of metal container. A meta container fit for a person must be on a property that's big. It has to be at a secondary location. Maybe on Austin's property. What if that's why he keeps them there so he can use that as collateral for Austin?
"Look at that," you whisper to Derek. You point to the wall behind Lucy. "Is that ice on the walls?"
"It's a walk-in freezer."
Rossi immediately knew that Austin had something to do with these freezers. Rossi wasn't gentle on Austin as he called him out. Austin tried to deny it but the first thing voyeurs learn is how to cover their tracks, how to stalk between nine to five. That's why there wasn't any porn on his computer because he had something better.
Rossi basically threatened him with his grandkids. He said that the next time they Google him, he'll make sure they find out what a disgusting grandpa they really have. That's what set him off. He gave up his location to them.
1823 Hudson Street. You've got him.
You, Derek, and Emily make it to the place in three minutes but you're not sure Lucy has three minutes left. Penelope blocks his signal from streaming and denies his internet access altogether. If you're right, that will piss him off enough to want to kill Lucy out of spit. You jump out of the car before Derek can even stop. You know exactly which freezer she is in. You can feel her panic.
You slide the door open and see not only Robert strangling Lucy but every body he took hanging on meat hooks... frozen... for his pleasure. Derek jumps on Robert and struggles to get him off Lucy who is losing the fight.
"Get off her! Let her go!"
"No!"
Derek yanks Robert off Lucy and slams him into the side of the freezer before slapping cuffs on his wrists. You and Emily immediately tend to Lucy who is crying.
"You're going to be okay. It's over. He can't hurt you anymore," you say.
You get her down from her restraints and Detective Fordham takes her to get some help. It hurt to see Allison get killed like that but you're glad that you got there in time to save Lucy.
Once back home, you and Spencer are sitting on the couch watching a movie. You turn to face him and he lowers the volume so he can have a conversation with you.
"Is it weird that I wish I was in therapy right now?"
"No." Spencer reaches over and tucks a strand of hair behind your ear. "I'm glad you found comfort in that."
"Thank Derek. He kind of forced it on me." You lean in and kiss him. "I'm glad to be back."

Okay okay okay picture this. Stiles & Eli buddy-cop fic in which Eli lives with Scott for a little because he’s the alpha blah blah blah but Eli isn’t submitting to him(because Derek is his alpha) so he ends up going to live with grandpa Stilinski. Where he’s given access to the entirety of Stiles’ room because that shouldn’t be a problem at all. So he goes through all of Stiles files, and sees the progression of his and Derek’s relationship through comments in the margins and is just like shit who is this person that is very clearly important to my father. But he’s also simultaneously researching resurrection and while he’s doing his research he discovers a supernatural consultant who goes by the name mischief that could solve any supernatural problem but went underground years ago. Only low and behold these bitches are the same person so he butters up Noah who tells him everything about his amazing son who’s an FBI agent and super accomplished. Que Eli getting into the same program Stiles was in(there may have been some guilt tripping Scott and nepotism involved) where Stiles now teaches a class. Only stiles has refused to hear anything about Derek hale for a really long time, for a whole host of complicated reasons, and dropped the supernatural world cold Turkey after his breakup with Lydia. And since Eli isn’t your typical Hale, Stiles is able to pretend(because we all know he’s pretending) that Eli isn’t a Hale Hale but that the name is common. And then one day Stiles sees him in the Jeep and is just like fuck fuck fuck but there’s no more pretending, so he talks to Eli and is Finally told that Derek’s dead, and then Eli convinces him to help bring Derek back from the dead, so they go on a little adventure and bond while they’re at it, then bring Derek back and they live happily ever after as the family they were always meant to be.
I have some of this written and I should honestly just name the fic ‘Stiles Stilinskis karma for being a sarcastic little shit to his father as a teen’ anyways here’s my fav line so far 🫶 yes this is exactly how Eli breaks the news to the dude he’s trying to convince to do some impossible shit with him
“And does he know you’re in my class?”
“I mean he’s dead so I would assume not.”

Spider-man x Batfam Prompt's
Ok so lately I have seen a lot of "Spidy goes to gotham and gets adopted fics" probably cause of Dark Matter by mysterycyclone cause like, duh, that fic is a goddamn masterpiece. But I feel like a lot of them are sort of the same thing with diffrent fonts ans it feels a bit saturated. Not all of them...but most of them.
Am I saying that there needs to be less of these fics? Hell no! Keep writing them please. I just feel like there could be more variety is all.
I suggest maybe try one of these ideas out
1: Peter going straight to the Batfam or other heros (dosent always have to be Batfam) and they try to work together on how to get him home, while slowly realizing "omg, your life is terrible! We want to help you, we do, but maybe we shouldnt and try to give you a better life here. Then its just a moral delema on what to do as they get to know the spider child.
2: maybe another Spider-man is the one that goes to Hotham like Andrew or Toby. Insted of being sent home at the end of NWH, they where accidentally sent to the DCU. Or maybe one of the Spider verse characters or a cartoon version of the character. Dosent always need to be Toms Spider-man.
3: on that same note. Please give more love to What If...Zombies Peter. You guys have no Idea the amount of angst and "haha, my world ended and im fine" potental there is. And you can have the other surviving member also be there as they look for eachother (characters that "survived* (no one survived that episode) are Peter, King T'challa, Scott Lang+cape, and Ig Bruce Baner/Hulk, and Bucky Barnes since we never saw them get turned or eaten) just think about Spidey and the Batfam investigating a lab or sometbing and all of a sudden they find floating head Scott in a crate. Everyone if scared shitless while Peter is crying tires of joy as he moves to hug the floating head. Think about that and tell me Im not on to something here.
4: Have the fic start our like halfway through. Maybe skip him getting to Gotham and have him be there for a few months already or something. This will help with adding more crack fics.
5: Maybe have the fic be that Peter is there for a while, he knows everyone, they know him, they might or might not know the identitys but they trust eachother. And Peter has been looking for a way home and he finally finds it! But... he accidentally brings some of the Batfam with him. So now its the Batfams turn to learn to live in the MCU with help of Spidy and they finally understand so much about him, how he lived, and vigilanties he knows (team red!) As they learn the history and pubilc opinion or Spider-man and the world.
6: Just a react to fic. Yk, those fics where they're stuffed in a room and forced to watch something? Yeah. Have the Dark Matter cast stuffed in a room and watch some MCU clips. It dosent even have to be some magic forth wall bull shit if you dont like that. In chapter 44, Peter and co. are said to be going back to the cave, and Peter still have is suit. Canonically, Karen records everything. Maybe Peter ends up so tired he dosent even want to try to explain everything. So he just hooks up Karen to the computer and and has her show them everything from the suits recordings to security cameras and news reports, to the memes and videos spiderman fans have made.
7: have the Justice League get involed cause "Hes to bright to be one of yours Bruce!" And have him be a honorary member of the league of have them put him on Young Justice. Peter gets adopted by Batfam? Yes. Peter becomeing Bffs with the Young Justice kids and actually forming normal relationships with kids his age? Also yes.
Do I have more? Probably but Im too lazy for it rn
If you for some reason use one of my ideas, pls tag me and maybe credit me for the original idea (but I mostly want to be able to find the fic if you do make it ( o_o) )
Who knows, I might just write some of these myself if I ever get the motivation lol

Thank You, For Being You
Isaac Lahey x Fem!Reader Series
Shape Shifted
Omega Part 1 | Omega Part 2 | Ice Pick | Abomination | Venomous | Frenemy | Restraint | Raving | Party Guessed | Fury
Prompt: Lydia has been found but just when things were starting to look up, of course, new information appears to suggest other wise.
a/n: Hey guys! This is the next chapter and i think i found a name for this series, let me know what you think! Also how do you guys feel about this new chapter set up? If you guys like it, I’ll probably go back to the other two chapters and change it to this as well!
*.✧*.✧*.✧*.✧*.✧*.✧*.✧*.✧*.✧*.✧*.✧*.✧*.✧*.✧
“So wait, what happened?” Scott was trying to explain to you what exactly happened after he ran off to find Lydia the night before. “I’ve already explained to you twice now,” Scott sighed packing his bag for school. You were leaning against his bedroom door, “Yes, I know, I know. I’m just- I’m just trying to process this whole thing.” You two made your way through the hallway, you weren’t concerned about Melissa hearing you two since she was already on her shift for the day.
“Okay, let me get this straight,” You began, “Allison’s grandfather, took a sword and sliced through a lone wolf, an omega, then proceeded to make some speech about killing all werewolves even though they’re supposed to go by a code?”
“Yes.”
“AND THEN to top everything off, Derek was with you?”
Scott sighed once more, “Yeah.” Opening the front door, you stopped on the porch, “What was Derek doing there?” His eyebrows scrunched together and he raised his hands, “How am I supposed to know?”
You rocked your head to the side, “Okay, okay, fair enough. I’m done, I promise I won’t bring it up anymore.” Just as the topic was dropped, Stiles pulled in front of the house. ‘What a weekend we had,’ you thought getting into the back seat. The whole ride consisted of Scott trying to convince Stiles that he would be okay during the full moon. You zoned out for most of the argument, up until you three made it to the boy’s locker room and it was still the current topic.
“Okay, we get it, you think you’ll be able to make it through the full moon. Can we please just drop it?” You grumbled since the whole debate was taking place with you in the middle, literally. “I’m serious,” Scott began which earned a huff from you and shake of Stiles’ head, “It’s not like the last full moon. I don’t feel the same.”
“Oh, does that include the urge to maim and kill people like us,” rebutted Stiles.
“I swear I don’t have the urge to maim and kill you.”
You scoffed, “Oh yeah, that’s super reassuring, thanks buddy.” Stiles pointed to you in agreement, “You know, you say that now but then the full moon goes up and the claws and fangs come out and there’s a lot of howling and screaming and running everywhere, okay?” The anxious boy didn’t even give himself time to take a full breath before his ramble continued, “And it’s very stressful on us and so yes, we’re still locking you up.”
Scott looked at you for support but only got a shrug from you, “Don’t look at me, I’m with him.”
“Okay, fine. But I do think I’m in more control now.” Scott conceited, “Especially since things are good with Allison.”
You and Stiles shared an unimpressed look, “Okay, we’re aware of how good things are with Allison.”
“They’re really good.”
“I- thank you, I know,” Stiles commented
“I mean, like, really good.”
“Alright I get it!” Stiles cut him off, “Please shut the hell up before I have the urge to maim and kill myself.”
“Why did my two best friends have to be boys,” you whined in complaint as Stiles wrapped his arm around you with a small laugh. Scott nudged your side before asking, “All right, did you get something better than handcuffs this time?”
“Yeah, much better,” Stiles took his arm off your shoulder to set his bag down and opened his locker but nothing could have prepared you for what came crashing out. Chains. Chains immediately came slithering out, getting the attention of not only the rest of the team but Coach as well.
“Kinky,” you muttered before Coach reached you. Both boys lightly smacked your shoulder as they stood silently and awkwardly, staring at the chains in panic while getting a judgmental look from Coach. “Part of me wants to ask, the other part says knowing will be more disturbing than anything I could ever imagine, so I’m gonna walk away. Y/N meet me on the field in a few minutes.” You chuckled, “yes sir, I’ll be right there.”
“That’s good. That’s a wise choice, Coach,” called Stiles.
Both boys lent down to start collecting the chains, Stiles pulling you down as well. Not a moment later, Scott’s head raised and his eyes glowed catching your attention. “What- what is it,” you placed your hand on his shoulder, your concern catching the sarcastic boy’s attention as well. Scott didn’t answer you right away, instead his head moved in every direction looking at everyone in the locker room.
“You okay?” questioned Stiles, “Scott.”
His focus was finally broken, “There’s another. In here, right now.” Your eyebrows furrowed, “Another what,” Stiles and you asked. “Another werewolf.” That sure perked your attention, your eyes quickly scanned the room with no success of finding what you were looking for. You reached for your bag and stood up, “We’ll worry about that when we’re on the field, I’ll meet you guys out there.” Both of them nodded and continued to pick up the chains as you made your way outside.
You were discussing line up for the next game with Coach when the team, including Scott and Stiles, came jogging out. “So what if we set Jackson up here for the first half so-.”
“Hey Coach! Scott wants to be in goal today!” Stiles jogged up next to you, you looked at the boy in confusion. Scott hated playing goal, since when would he ever volunteer to be in goal? Coach said nothing but waved it off and nodded his head as he took your clipboard and walked off to review your placement suggestions. You turned to Stiles when you knew Coach was out of hearing range, “What are you two up to?”
“Scott needs to be close to someone to catch their scent, so if he switches with Danny-.”
“It’ll allow him to be one on one.” You nodded and Stiles gave you that goofy proud smile he has. You reached over the bleachers and gave him the goalie gear, “I’ll let Danny know.” Stiles gave you a thumbs up, “Great, awesome, you’re the best,” he gave you a surprise kiss on the cheek before dashing off with the gear. You laughed in disbelief before turning to find Danny in the crowd, instead you ended up making eye contact with the tall boy that never failed to make you smile. Raising your hand up, you gave him a wave and he returned the favor with what looked to be a nervous grin. Before you could question it to yourself, the whistle blew signaling practice was starting.
“Let’s go! Line it up! Faster!”
Everyone took their positions and Coach blew the whistle one more time, throwing the ball in the air. What occurred next, physically hurt you to have to see. Scott sprinted past defense and slammed the runner down. You felt your whole body wince as you watch him visibly sniff the kid before pulling him up. Unsurprisingly, Coach said something about the situation. Of course it did nothing to stop the supernatural boy, he slammed the next kid down, and the next. Each time Coach commented on it, but it never stopped Scott.
Coach grabbed Stiles’ helmet and gestured for you to come over, “Stilinski, Y/N, what the hell is wrong with your friend?”
“He’s failing two classes,” you started.
“He’s a little socially awkward,” Stiles listed, “and if you look close enough-.”
“His jaw line is kind of uneven,” you both finished. Coach glanced at you before pushing the boy away and turning back to the field, “That’s interesting,” he mumbled, walking away. Danny was the next one on the chopping block and you turned your head away because this time around it was just a little too rough for you to bare. Stiles placed his hand on your back to give you some slight comfort, “That’s gonna hurt in the morning.” You nodded in agreement.
“McCall! You come out of that goal one more time and you’ll be doing suicide runs till you die! It’ll be the first ever suicide run that actually ends in a suicide. Got it?”
“Yes, Coach.”
You pinched the bridge of your nose, “This is so embarrassing.” Stiles hummed in agreement.
“Uh, Coach, my shoulders hurting. I’m gonna- I’m gonna sit this one out,” Jackson said making his way to the bench. When he walked away you had finally realized who was in front of you and Stiles. Isaac. He was breathing really hard but not out of exhaustion, it almost sounded animalistic. Stiles tried to see in front of him before looking at you in concern. The whistle blew once more and Isaac began running.
“I don’t like the look of this,” you whispered to Stiles.
“Me neither.”
You couldn’t believe it, Scott dashed once more and when the two collided they both went so far in the air before both landed on their hands and knees. When they landed you felt like something in you was different, you realized your were correct when Stiles broke you out of your trance. “Hey, look down hurry,” he pushed your head down before you could even respond.
“What the hell, Stiles!”
“Y/N, stop. Your eyes.”
“My eyes? What about my eyes?”
“Y/N. Your eyes are glowing purple.”
~
“His father’s dead.”
The three of you stood watching Stiles’ dad, two other policemen, Coach and Isaac talk as Scott listened in, “They think he was murdered.” You had barely come to terms that Isaac was a werewolf and now you have to process the fact that his dad was murdered? You guys can seriously never catch a break.
Stiles leaned in closer to you two, “Are they saying he’s a suspect?”
“I’m not sure, why?”
“Because they can lock him in a holding cell for 24 hours,” you answered.
“Like, over night?” Stiles nodded, “During the full moon.” Scott looked at you two, “How good are these holding cells at holding people?” You sighed and closed your eyes, you couldn’t bare the stress anymore.
“People, good. Werewolves, probably not that good.” Stiles concluded while looking at you, his hand was back to its position on your back but this time it was to get your attention. You glanced up to meet his eyes and you saw exactly what he was thinking, what he was asking. ‘Are you gonna tell Scott about what happened?’ You shook your head lightly and gripped his arm, slightly squeezing so he would understand to let it go. He sighed before looking back at Scott.
“Guys, remember when I said I don’t have the urge to maim and kill?”
“Yeah,” you both replied.
“He does.”
The group of policemen, Sheriff and Isaac began to walk away, but not without Isaac turning his head back to look at you three. While you know he was just looking at you guys in general, you couldn’t help but feel like his gaze was for you. Rubbing your hand down your face, you gave Isaac one last look before grabbing Scott and Stiles’ hands, “Come on, we better go if we want to make it to Harris' in time. You guys can’t afford to be late, he hates your guts.” They both nodded before letting you lead them back towards to school. For the first time since maybe you three were born, you guys walked together to class silent. There’s was not a sound created between you three until you made it to chemistry, the only class where you sat in front of them rather than between them or next to at least one of them.
“Why would Derek choose Isaac?” You heard Scott ask.
“Peter told me that if the bite doesn’t turn you it could kill you.” You were grateful that your desk partner was Isaac right now, because if it wasn’t, you were positive who ever would’ve been placed next to you would hear everything, instead the seat is currently empty. “And maybe teenagers have a better chance of surviving.”
“Does being a teenager mean your dad can’t hold him?”
“Well, not unless they have solid evidence or a witness. Wait.” You could hear Stiles turn in his chair, “Danny, where’s Jackson?”
“Principal’s office, talking to your dad.”
“What? Why?”
“Maybe because he lives across the street from Isaac.” You felt yourself freeze. God damn it. Jackson is the last person you would want to be talking to Sheriff right now. You quickly put your pencil down and raised your hand, “Um, Mr. Harris, do you mind if I run to my locker quickly? I forgot my notes in there after practice.”
“Hurry.”
You heard the chairs of your best friends squeak as they turned towards you quickly, “Y/N what are you doing?” Scott whisper yelled but you ignored them, you had to get to the office, you couldn’t let that weasel make it seem like Isaac could have done this, especially when there’s the issue of the full moon tonight as well.
“Thank you, sir, sorry about that,” you said rushing out the door quickly and making your way to the office as fast as possible. Just before you made it too far you heard Mr. Harris, “Who in the hell did that?” You laughed and shook your head, you could always count on those bone heads to never let you do anything alone. You made it to the office and could see Jackson already talking to Stiles’ dad, you huffed and sat down in the chair outside, your leg bouncing as soon as you hit the cushion of the chair. Not even a minute later, the boys joined you, sitting on either side of you like usual.
“You guys are such dumbasses, you know that? I could’ve handled this.”
“Absolutely not,” they synced.
You kept quiet deciding it was better to just listen to the conversation going on inside the room rather than argue. “Wait, so are you telling me that you knew Isaac’s father was hitting him?”
“Hitting him? He was kicking the crap out of him.”
“Did you ever say anything to anyone? A teacher, parents, anyone?”
“Nope, it’s not my problem.”
You felt every ounce of rage boil up inside you. Jackson knew? Jackson fucking knew everything and never told ANYONE. You closed your eyes and clenched your fists so hard you swear you could draw blood at any moment.
“Y/N? Hey Y/N, calm down. Scott.” You felt what you assumed to be Stiles’ hands then felt another pair, which had to be Scott’s on your shoulders.
“Hey, I know you’re angry but you have to find a way to calm down, you’re making the papers on the board almost fly off,” Scott tried to rationalize. You tried to take deep breaths but nothing was working, you finally felt your hands being grabbed and intertwined with theirs. You took a moment to focus on them and it started to work, squeezing their hands you dropped your head, a few silent tears escaping your closed eyes.
“I’m sorry,” you whispered.
“You don’t have to be sorry,” Scott reassured.
The office door opened, and you three parted, you took the opportunity to wipe your tears away as fast as you could. Scott looked in another direction and Stiles grabbed a magazine to try (and unsuccessfully) hide from his dad. When you were sure that all moisture was wiped away you met Sheriff’s eyes.
“Hi, Scott, Y/N.” You both waved before he cocked an eyebrow at his son and started to walk away. You touched both of their shoulders, “I’ll meet you guys later.”
They both looked at you, “What are you gonna do?”
“What I probably should’ve done a while ago,” you sighed earning you confused nods before you walked away.
“Sheriff.”
He turned around surprised to see you walking towards him, he waved to his deputy to let him know to keep walking before he gave you his full attention. “I need to talk to you.”
“I’m sorry kiddo but it might have to wait.”
“It’s about Isaac.” That got his attention, he kept your gaze for a moment before directing you to the side, “Okay what’s going on?” You opened your mouth to say something but no sound came out, you couldn’t bring yourself to say it. You took a deep breath before speaking once more.
“I knew.”
He didn’t say anything, almost as if he couldn’t believe what he just heard. “Well, to be more accurate, I was pretty sure. Pretty sure that Isaac’s dad was hurting him.”
“Well, that’s a lot to process. Did you ever say something, why didn’t you tell me?”
“I didn’t, Isaac wouldn’t let me. He kept denying it, saying ‘it was an accident’ or ‘I fell off my bike’ stuff like that. And I never had any solid proof so I didn’t say anything because if I couldn’t prove anything I would be saying, I didn’t want to chance Isaac getting seriously injured.”
You finally let yourself meet his eyes when you finished talking, he took a breath before nodded and placing a hand on your upper arm, “I understand but why are you telling me this now?”
“Because I may not know him like I do Scott and Stiles but I know he wouldn’t do something like this. I know you have to follow the path you're given but you have to look at other options, please, Sheriff. He would never do this.”
Sheriff gave you a slight smile, “Okay kiddo, I believe you, I still have to do my job but just know I believe you.” You let out a breath you didn’t realize you were holding, “Thank you, I’ve gotta get back to class.”
“Okay I’ll see you later.”
“Yeah, bye.”
You parted ways, making your way back to the office, to see the boys come out. Scott grabbed your arm and began rushing you towards the doors, “Come on.” You try to look back at Stiles to question what was going on but Scott had pulled you down the stairs and around the corner before you even had the chance.
“What the hell is going on?”
“I’ll tell you later but for right now just forget about it and come on!”
You matched his pace as best as you could, reaching the heavy blue doors and when you pushed them open you saw a cop car. Inside was Isaac, you guys must have caught his attention because he turned back when you had slammed the doors open. Scott went forward more while you just stood and looked at Isaac, you didn’t know what to do. You couldn’t help him from here anyways since the car had already taken off and left the parking lot. You grunted out of frustration, “Great, what are we gonna do now?”
Scott never gave you an answer because Derek pulled up to the curb, “Get in.”
You scoffed, “Are you serious?”
“You did that, that’s your fault,” Scott finished for you.
“I know that. Now get in the car and help me.”
“Why should we,” you challenged, “You know, I’m starting to get real sick and tired of your demanding ass tone.”
Scott put his arm in front of you, stopping your advancing figure before you could make it to the car. “I’ve got a better idea. I’m gonna call a lawyer because a lawyer might actually have a chance at getting him out before the moon goes up.”
“Not when they do a real search of the house.”
“What do you mean?” Scott had now made it to the window of the car. “Whatever Jackson said to the cops, what’s in the house is worse. A lot worse,” Derek popped his passenger door open, Scott looked at you and you huffed gesturing towards the door, you got in.
~
“If Isaac didn’t kill his father, then who did?”
“I don’t know yet,” Derek replied.
“Then how do you know he’s telling the truth?”
“Because I trust my senses. And it’s a combination of them, not just your sense of smell.” You smiled ever so slightly at the sentence.
“You saw the lacrosse thing today,” Scott stated embarrassed.
“Yeah.”
“Did it look that bad?”
“Yeah,” you spoke up, catching their attention.
You continued your way through the house, until Derek had directed you two to the basement, “You wanna learn,” he pointed down the stairs, “then start now.”
Scott made his way down the stairs and you just stared, you were scared if you were being honest. Scared to find something that would tell you that Isaac really did kill his father. Because if that was true, there wasn’t anyway you could help him even with the pleading you had done to Sheriff. Derek gave you a pointed look, “You need to come down here as well,” you raised your eyebrows, “Why?” you questioned him.
“He wouldn’t want you to see what’s down here but I think it’s important that you do.”
You nodded slightly at his statement, if Derek thought that then it had to be a big deal, the only person he really trusted was Scott and now probably Isaac. It only took you a moment to decide as you started your way down the stairs as well with even more caution than Scott had possessed. “What am I looking for?” Scott had interrupted your train of thought, “Follow your senses,” answered Derek. You guys made it down the stairs, you looked around until you came face to face with a mirror propped up on the ground. You couldn’t stop staring at your eyes, you knew you needed to tell Scott as soon as possible but it had to wait. Until Isaac was safe, until you could provide some answers to keep Scott from worrying about you. Derek had just finished talking to Scott, when he had stayed behind and just in front of you.
“Derek.”
He turned, giving you the go ahead to talk. You made sure that Scott was occupied with looking around before going on, “I know trust between us is below zero but can I ask you something?” The dark haired man hesitated before nodding slightly, “On the field today, when Scott was, well you know...my eyes.. Stiles said they glowed purple.” The man gave you a confused look before his eyes relaxed slightly, “Are you asking if I know what you are?” You shrugged, “I guess, I don’t know, this isn’t the first time something like this has happened.”
“What do you mean?”
“I mean that, I’ve made my locker slam shut on its own and almost made papers go flying across the room.”
He thought for a moment, looking at you up and down almost as if he was doing some kind of analysis of you in his brain, “I’m sorry but I don’t know what you are.” You sighed and shrugged once more, “It was a long shot I guess.” Derek took another moment to pondered and turned his head to you once more, “Did those things happen when your emotions were at a peak?” You slowly nodded, a little bit embarrassed to admit that the things occurring were due to you not keeping your emotions in check.
“Well while I can’t tell you what you are, it sounds like whatever you possess is carried out mostly by emotions so using them to your advantage is going to be what helps you keep it under control.”
You took some time to process what he said, it seemed so simple and yet you had a feeling that it was gonna be far from that. Instead of pushing your luck you just nodded along to show that you understood, “Thanks.”
“One more thing, Derek.”
“What is it?”
“Is Isaac gonna be okay?”
“I’m going to get him out of there, however, even if he gets out of this situation, he’s gonna forever have to deal with what he went through in this room,” Derek pointed to across the room. You turned to see an ice box with chains next to it, you looked back at Derek and he nodded for you to go over to it. You met Scott over there, both of you grazing your hands over it, a light flashed in your eyes.
“Open it.”
Scott and you turned to each other, nodding you both grabbed the lid and opened it. You gasped when you saw it, scratches, scratches all through out the sides of the freezer. “He was locked in here,” you said, your hand covering your mouth. You backed away from the box shaking your head, “I need some fresh air.” Scott didn’t get a chance to say anything as you sprinted up the stairs, placing your back against the wall you heaved to catch your breath. Tears slipped down your face, you couldn’t believe the sweet boy you knew was going through something so horrific. You had to get him out of there. You took your phone out of your pocket and made your way to your contacts, it was pointless though because the person you were planning to call had beaten you to it.
“Hey, I was just about to call you.”
“Yeah, I’m gonna need your help, Allison said that- hey are you okay, have you been crying?”
You sniffled slightly before clearing your throat, “It’s fine, doesn’t matter, what about Allison?”
“She said that one of her dad’s guys went out, Y/N, he had wolfsbane with him.”
“They’re gonna kill him.”
“Yeah, I’m on my way to come pick you up, just hang tight.” You nodded even though you knew he couldn’t see it, “Yeah, okay, see you soon,” with that he hung up. After you had told Scott and Derek what was going on, Stiles had arrived to pick you up. Scott decided to stay since it wouldn’t be safe with the full moon out tonight. Stiles phone rang while he was speeding down the road as fast as he could, you took it from his cup holder and answered it, putting it on speaker, “Hey, did you slow him down?”
“You could say that.”
“Alright well, we’re heading to the station right now.”
“Where’s Scott?”
“Isaac’s,” you answered, “you should probably get over there as well.”
“Does he have a plan?”
Stiles side glanced you, “Yeah, but not a very good one. And unfortunately we don’t have time to come up with anything better.”
“Hence the ‘you should get over there too’,” you tried to joke. You ended the call as both of you looked through his dash board window at the moon. You were running out of time. “He’s gonna be okay,” Stiles tried to convince you.
“I really hope so.”
You finally made it to the station, when you felt the nerves getting to you, “Hey.” You looked at Stiles, he placed his hand on your head, “We’re gonna save him.”
“Let’s just go before I have a panic attack,” your attempt to be funny was interrupted by Derek showing up at the window. Stiles rolled down the window to explain the plan, “Okay, now the keys to every cell are in a password protected lockbox in my father’s office.”
“The problem is getting past the front desk,” you continued.
“I’ll distract her,” Derek concluded
You raised your eyebrows in disbelief as Stiles kept him from walking away, “Woah, woah, woah, you- you’re not going in there.” Derek said nothing but glanced at the hand currently on his shoulder, “I’m taking my hand off,” Stiles released his grip.
“I was exonerated.”
You scoffed, “I was exonerated,” you mocked the werewolf, “Like that matters at all you dumbass.”
“You’re still a person of interest,” the boy next to you explained.
“An innocent person.”
You both let out a sarcastic laugh, “You?” You synced, “Yeah, right!” He continued to stare at you both before Stiles sighed, “Okay, fine. What’s your plan?”
“To distract her,” Derek dragged.
“Uh-huh,” you mocked once more.
“How,” Stiles expressed, “by punching her in the face?”
“By talking to her.”
“Okay, alright, give me a sample. What are you gonna open with?”
Silence.
“Dead silence,” the boy concluded, “that should work beautifully, got any other ideas?”
“I’m thinking about punching you in the face.”
You groaned, “Oh my god, can we just go, please,” the attention was now on you, “You both can argue later.”
There was a silent agreement before Derek made his way inside, allowing you and Stiles to both slip past the lady and into the Sheriff’s office. While you acted as look out, he punched in the code to get the key, “It’s gone.” Your head snapped towards him, “It’s gone? What do you mean it’s gone,” his hands slapped to his side, “I mean the key is not in the box, the guy must have beaten us to it.”
“Well, then let’s go, there may still be time.” Both of you rushed down the hallway, bumping into what appeared to be an officer, only for you to both realize there was blood. “Ah, sh-,” the man grabbed Stiles before you both could get away, “Hey! Let him go, you bastard!” You tried to pry the guy’s hand that was holding the syringe away from Stiles’ neck but it was no use you didn’t have the strength to overpower him. You could at least keep him from getting any closer though. Stiles had pulled the fire alarm and you made it to the holding cells, still struggling against the man when you all realized that one of the doors had been ripped off, Isaac’s door.
The guy had been pried off of you two as you both dropped to the floor. It was Isaac, fully transformed, you both scrambled behind the desk as he fought off the man. He left him unconscious and his attention was now on you, he began his advance but was very quickly interrupted by Derek’s roar. You shook off the shock, got back on your feet and rushed over to the now cowering Isaac.
“Hey, hey, it’s okay you’re safe.” He glanced at you, “You came,” you nodded with a soft smile, “Yeah, yeah I did.” His head landed on your shoulder lightly, clearly exhausted you let him be, raking your hand through his hair lightly.
“How did you do that,” questioned Stiles.
“I’m the alpha.”

yellowjackets au where coach martinez lives through the crash. it does not, actually, make things better
bill martinez was a good soccer coach- a great one, even. he could call a play the other team never expected, spot talent at the middle school level and make for DAMN sure those girls kept playing in high school. he could pick captains with a talent for motivating the others and keeping a team together and keep his lowest achieving athletes scraping by in classes enough to keep the on the team. he could even drag all their butts through from states to nationals.
but coaching a soccer team is a lot different than trying to lead his girls, his boys, and his assistant coach through a survival situation in the wilderness.
he tries his hardest to maintain control over the situation, but there's a LOT of situation to control. coach scott's been seriously injured and no one but misty quigley has the time or mental space to help him deal with it, and beyond Making Sure that Ben Stays Alive, he doesn't have the mental space to deal with it, either. he's happy to delegate his assistant's care to the team manager. if ben tries to talk to him about how misty's poisoning him (that's absurd, scott. what would she get out of that?) or making romantic advances on him (well then, be a man and get her to stop? come on, scott, she's under five foot five inches. she's not even one of our PLAYERS and you're saying you can't hold her off? i have more important things to deal with here.)
he lets coach scott organize his Lets See Who's Gonna Hunt For Us party, and has him be in charge of it because ben's the one with the hunting experience, but he's also... very much Flexing His I'm Really In Charge Muscles. he reams both ben and travis new assholes about travis aiming the gun at natalie (and he does it with all the others there) and then he tries to talk ben out of appointing travis as the second hunter. ben refuses to have that talk in public, but bill's like look my son is Very Unstable and Highly Emotional and i don't think you should give him a gun. and i also don't want him spending that much time with natalie scatorrcio. i like her and i trust her with our lives, but someday we're going back to The Real World and she's going to die in a ditch and i'm trying to get travis to Not Fucking Do That. but ben thinks about how he's technically in charge of this choice and how bill told him to man up about misty quigley's behavior... so he puts the gun in travis's hands and dares bill to make a comment about it.
beyond trying to control his son's life and belittling his assistant coach, bill's biggest concerns are with the basics of survival, keeping jackie and tai in line, doing things that are probably helpful to keep travis from Behaving Like Travis and things that are Very Much Not Helpful for That, trying to get javi to integrate more with the group, and trying to figure out how much he can trust coach scott to back him up on any given decision.
he hates the seance idea, but lets jackie organize it because hopefully it will help with their team building. he tells travis and javi they should stay out of it, which makes travis go up immediately and makes javi sneak up. so that dad doesn't see and think badly of me
when tai decides to make her Wilderness Adventure, he decides to accompany the group because they might have more luck with him there. he tries to get travis to come with them and bring the gun, but coach scott digs his heels in about the gun staying with the group and the girls all... side with him... and travis refuses to come along. javi WANTS to, but bill won't let him because he says he won't be able to help and will be safer with his brother. who he makes eye contact with like if you don't protect your little brother i will be ending you, travis.
he goes on the expedition and tries to be in charge by virtue of being The Coach and The Adult, but van is just here to make sure tai doesn't die, mari and akilah are here for tai, and tai is still sore that he didn't make her captain. so if he doesn't do things HER way then he's just going to have to deal with doing them alone. (van gets her face eaten, coach loses an arm, and they make their way back with terrible injuries and their tails between their legs)
when they get back and get the injuries taken care of, laura lee announces her intentions to fly the plane to get them help. coach scott says that's a dumb idea and no one else is dying on his watch, but coach martinez says it's a great idea and he'll help her. and thus, the power struggle continues. he gets some information from laura lee about Visions that lottie's been having and goes. oh. oh shit. i forgot about the schizophrenia. he tries to talk to laura lee about how Lottie Is Probably Very Sick Right Now, and she doesn't listen, and then he tries to talk to lottie herself about it. lottie is starting to drink her wilderness koolaid and is like coach. i think that i have visions and i think the wilderness is telling me what we need to know to survive. he keeps it to himself for a while, but is like lottie matthews if you do anything stupid i'm going to tell EVERYONE! and that. is a very big point of tension.
jackie reveals that shauna is pregnant, he reams shauna a new asshole in public about how stupid that was and how clear he made the team protection requirements and how they could get it, and then he confronts both travis and coach scott about whether or not they got her pregnant. his son is very upset that he thinks he's sleeping with SHAUNA and didn't even notice what was happening with natalie, and the coach scott just. laughs at him. laughs right in his face. he's been beating misty quigley off of himself with a stick but he got shauna shipman pregnant. sure.
he tries to get jackie to participate more in being Alive, and she helps him and laura lee with the plane stuff more than anyone else.
when laura lee goes kablooey and lottie notices before it's started, a lot of the girls start to go Wilderness Prophet. bill notices that something's off about the energy but doesn't know what to do about it beyond. encouraging jackie's last attempt at teambuilding. the kids can have a dance if they want, right? he'll try to find something to get them free. something something something there still has to be SOMETHING
he doesn't attend the dance or eat any of the food. he stays inside and rakes through information in the books. he hears travis and jackie come in and wonders what the fuck's up with that, and then hears them upstairs and goes. shit. that's what's up. hopefully my reaming of travis made it so he used protection, at least, and then he hears a big group of the kids burst in and they start... the events. he gets the fuck up and opens the door to see what the hell's going on, but all he sees is- lottie shoving jackie in a closet and then they're passing his High As A Kite Son Around. and he's trying to get through to them to figure out WHAT THE HELL IS HAPPENING, but soon it's a hunt, chasing travis out the door. he runs out after them, trying to figure out what the hell is happening and how to stop it from happening, and he comes and tries to use his coach voice to get it to stop. but no one listens.
"you don't matter anymore" lottie tells him. he thinks about getting physical, but that's- shauna, holding a knife to his son's throat. it only stops because natalie scatorccio bursts out and makes them.
the girls finally disperse, finding different places to run off to, and travis left... collapsing. he doesn't want his dad around, of course he doesn't, even though he's high enough he barely knows what's happening beyond Not Dead Not Dead Not Dead. and natalie promises to make sure he's okay and then orders him (HIM!) to go find javi.
and he tries. he tears through the cabin, the meat shed, down by the lake, all the areas around the cabin, and finally he collapses in a pile of leaves and sleeps right there in the woods. when dawn breaks and wakes him up, he searches for hours again, but can't find him. he has to come back to try to eat and tell everyone that javi is, for sure, missing. he tries to get travis to join him on HIS search, but travis has decided that he and NATALIE are going to do it together. without his help. "i don't want you criticizing every move i make." he looks to natalie, please back me up, but she shrugs.
"dads aren't always good people. i'm not sure i trust you with him, either."
the girls killed a bear.
"no," coach says, "jackie is right. this isn't some sort of gift from the forest. lottie isn't a prophet." van glares. "well how do you know, coach? you couldn't protect us from those wolves. lottie's amulet kept all my LIMBS attached!"
"she has schizophrenia, vanessa, not psychic powers." the room falls silent.
"is that true?" van asks gently.
"i-" lottie's voice catches in her throat. she starts crying, and just... sits there. it's a yes.
"SEE!" bill demands, pointing towards her, "she's just off her meds. she tried to kill my son yesterday, are we really going to pretend she's some... forest jesus?"
coach scott glares. "coach, that's... really fucked up. you don't just- out a kid like that."
"that kid," coach says, gesturing wildly to lottie, "almost killed my son because of her psychiatric problems! she's dragging the rest of them in, and i thought they ought to know she's crazy."
suddenly, the confrontation here isn't jackie vs everyone else. it's coach martinez vs lottie matthews...
"vanessa-" a core member of the group. if she changed her tune, that could sway all of them.
"lottie should have gotten to tell us that herself," van says firmly, "and hell, what if it's made up? what if she's... always been magic?"
bill turns to taissa. "come on, taissa. surely YOU don't believe this?" taissa refuses to make eye contact. he can't try mari, because she's been falling under lottie's spell for months. akilah, mari, misty- all lost causes.
"shauna?" he asks. shauna moves a little closer to taissa. he doesn't even bother asking coach scott. they've been drifting further apart for this entire time. he can't trust his assistant to back him up on ANYTHING.
that leaves jackie taylor, his team captain. the girl who, when they crashed, could have gotten those girls to move mountains. maybe she still has some of that left.
"captain?" he asks cautiously.
jackie is angry at a lot of things and a lot of people. she doesn't want to be here, and she knows that shauna doesn't love her and she knows the girls wouldn't side with her the way they are with lottie.
but she's still a YELLOWJACKET. "that was lottie's secret to share."
some of the tension left in the room dissipates. maybe, just maybe, if natalie were still here she could make a difference. he knows that travis has poisoned her against him to some extent, but she's not that easily led. even if she didn't like him revealing lottie's diagnosis, she's against their insanity enough that she might agree they need to be cautious- that it's important information to have, to make sure the girls don't lead them to becoming some sort of pagan forest cult.
but natalie isn't here. travis isn't here, to show whether he'd side with his father or with the girls who assaulted him, and javi certainly isn't. because he and travis and natalie are the only ones who have even thought about searching for their youngest member.
"fine," he says, "if you'd prefer to let the girl who gets visions thank the forest for you, go ahead. i'm going to go find my son."
he freezes to death in the woods that very night, just a hundred feet away from the cabin. travis and natalie find his body when they leave again that morning for the hunt, and even though travis didn't like him and things just got worse in the wilderness... he bawls. he takes his father's ring for javi, when they finally find him, and they let the rest of the group know what happened.
jackie thinks about the fight she was about to have, about how she might have... gone outside and slept there, just to prove a point. she talks to shauna about it instead of letting it boil. it's still not pretty, but she lives longer.
lottie has to deal with the prophet thing even more, since this conflict very explicitly got the coach killed. if she doesn't lean into it... what else is left?

gone day
empires superpowers au masterlist (not up to date)
set some point probably like. 18 months after the end of ‘poisoned rats’? i’m not really keeping up with these dates lol
cw: dissocation
~
It’s one of those days where Scott can look at Jimmy and know that he’s gone.
He’s known Jimmy for more than two years now, and he thinks he ought to be able to recognize when there’s nothing but emptiness behind his eyes. And today, Scott looks at Jimmy and the way he goes through the motions, the way he gets ready for work and makes breakfast, and it’s clear that he’s not present today.
Sometimes Scott can help. Sometimes he can hold him and rub his arms and bring that spark back to his eyes.
Other times Norman can help. He can crawl up into Jimmy’s lap and demand attention, rubbing his head underneath Jimmy’s chin until he returns to himself enough to scratch Norman around the ears and go about finding something to play with.
Today, neither of those things help, and Jimmy kisses Scott goodbye with unmoving lips before leaving for work.
Scott doesn’t go to work, today—he instead cleans the house and keeps an eye on the news, making sure there aren’t any emergencies that he needs to swoop in to solve.
There’s nothing—just like there’s nothing in the fridge, and Scott drives to the grocery store only to find that the oil needs changed. And usually, he’d just text Jimmy and ask what he needed to purchase to do it at home, but he knows Jimmy’s probably not having a great day, so he picks up some donuts and a small bouquet of wildflowers while shopping and then swings over to the mechanic where Jimmy is apprenticed.
“Jim, your man’s here!” one of Jimmy’s coworkers calls back into the garage when Scott shows up, flowers and donuts in hand. He leaves the donuts on the counter of the front room, then waits until Jimmy comes in through the side door, wiping his hands on a rag.
“Hey, petal,” Jimmy greets him, and Scott’s heart sinks a little as he sees that Jimmy’s still gone. It’s the way he stumbles a bit while walking, the way he doesn’t meet Scott’s eyes, the way he keeps scrubbing the rag around one finger again and again. Scott still hands him the flowers, helps him tuck one into the front pocket of his t-shirt, gives him a kiss.
“My car needed an oil change,” he explains when Jimmy asks him why he’s here, and it’s even more evidence to the fact that he’s gone that Jimmy doesn’t even question why he brought in to the shop when they could’ve sorted it at home. Instead he gets to work, placing the flowers in his locker before popping the hood of the car.
It takes nearly an hour, and it’s less because of Jimmy’s skill and more because he keeps getting distracted by seemingly nothing. Scott waits patiently, scrolling through his phone and occasionally asking Jimmy questions about his day. Jimmy’s answers are vague and stilted, which he expects. And it’s all right, really. It’s a gone day.
At one point, Jimmy’s shirt comes untucked and rides up his back—something Scott knows he’s very self-conscious about—but Jimmy doesn’t even seem to notice, focused on the task at hand. Scott surreptitiously moves behind him, blocking the view of Jimmy’s scarred back from any passersby. It’s the least he can do.
When Jimmy finally finishes he straightens, pulling his shirt down and adjusting the flower in his pocket. He smiles faintly at Scott. “All good,” he says. “Do you want it charged to your account or mine?”
“Mine,” Scott says, although it doesn’t matter much—they have separate accounts because it helps Jimmy with stability and trust, but they mostly split earnings these days.
Jimmy leads him back inside to the counter and rings him up without issue. He gives Scott a kiss. He laughs when Scott teases him and flirts back when Scott flirts.
But he’s not there, not really.
So Scott goes home, silently lamenting the fact that he wasn’t able to bring his boyfriend back.
He calls Lizzie, eventually. All he has to do is tell her that it’s a gone day and she understands. She’s on patrol, but it’s quiet and she’s just casually riding little waves at the docks while chatting. She reassures Scott that there’s nothing he can reasonably do on days like this, that whatever he had done had been more than enough.
He knows they both hope that one day, this sort of thing will be a distant memory. One day, Jimmy won’t ever be trapped in his own mind, removed from the world without seemingly being aware that he is. One day, Jimmy will be better.
He hangs up when Jimmy gets back home. Jimmy gives both cats a treat, absentmindedly giving them each a pat on the head. He kisses Scott on the cheek. He strips off his t-shirt and jeans and takes a quick shower, rinsing the grime from a day’s hard work off his body. He eats dinner on the couch with Scott, hand holding the fork a little too tight and arm moving a little too mechanically.
He smiles up at Scott while leaning against his shoulder, and his eyes are still empty. He’s still gone.
Scott swallows back the tears that tighten his throat and kisses his nose. It’s just a gone day. That’s all it is. Jimmy will be back to his normal self in the morning.
It doesn’t make it any easier in the moment.

I am still reading my way through the Fourth World! Last time I talked about all the stuff published in the 70s; now let's talk about the 80s.
Kirby:
New Gods #12: In 1984, DC reprinted Kirby's original New Gods run and threw in an extra issue (not to be confused with Gerry Conway's New Gods #12) so that Kirby could finish the story. This was partially DC being nice and trying to give an aging Kirby money, and partially not because they refused to let him produce the ending he wanted, which was Orion and Darkseid both dying. After a couple scrapped versions, we got this, in which Orion goes down in a hail of laser fire. It's a real bummer, but at least he's extremely homoerotic with his best buddy Lightray first? (Oh, they're getting a whole separate post, just you wait.)
The Hunger Dogs: This "graphic novel" (it's only 64 pages but back then that counted) came out a year later and was the "conclusion" to the Fourth World saga. Once again DC and Kirby butted heads because Kirby really wanted to kill everyone and DC was like "But our IP!!!" In the final version, only supporting characters Himon and Esak die, which is sad but not going to do any damage to DC's bottom line.
It turns out Orion is not dead despite being riddled with holes (there's an intriguing suggestion that he has some kind of healing ability because he possesses the Life Equation, which like everything else in this book is presented with zero context or explanation), which is great because it gives him an opportunity to be homoerotic with Lightray again, although he has also been given an Obligatory Heterosexual Love Interest, Himon's daughter Bekka.
Anyway this book is baffling. Highfather blows up New Genesis (everyone survives) to taunt Darkseid, who is overthrown by the downtrodden masses of Apokalips. There's some shouting about the dangers of technology and maybe some anti-Cold War rhetoric about stockpiling weapons, but it's all so hysterically overblown - Kirby at his most grandiose - that it's nearly impossible to parse beyond "war bad." I do appreciate that Orion is able to break free of his rage and death wish and just...leave Darkseid behind, but the fact that he's emotionally mature enough to do that now comes pretty much out of nowhere. The art is extremely powerful, at least.
My final thought is that Kirby clearly gleefully ignored everything Englehart, Conway, et al. did and I love that for him.
Super Powers: Darkseid fights the Justice League. This was a comic created to sell a toy line and you can really, really tell.
Post-Kirby:
Legends: I've read this before, but it's great. If you like pre-Flashpoint DC, you should definitely read this, which introduces Amanda Waller and the Suicide Squad, sets up the JLI, and brings Wonder Woman into the post-Crisis DCU. Neither Orion nor Scott are present but this (along with the Happyland issue of the original Forever People) really makes the case for why Glorious Godfrey is one of Kirby's best and scariest Fourth World creations. And I will never complain about John Byrne art.
Forever People (1988): Blecch. It's definitely arrogant to read something and think "I know for certain that Jack Kirby, a man I never met who died when I was a child, would have hated this" but like. I'm right. And it's obvious from the very first page.
Basically, at the end of Kirby's series, the FP were marooned on a random, idyllic planet somewhere with no hope of getting home, so they embraced it as their new, hopeful future. This catches up with them years later, with Serifan (the sweet young kid) drooling and raving alone in the woods, Vykin (the only Black character) dead (he gets better), and the rest of them...living in yuppie paradise? Apparently the planet they ended up on was populated (missing the point) with "primitive" people (racist) so they decided to use Mother Box to forcibly "evolve" the people (SO RACIST) and were able to create...modern-day America? Literally why would they even do that, they're from New Genesis. Mark is mayor and married with kids, and Big Bear and Beautiful Dreamer are married to each other with a baby on the way.
Anyway a nebulous villain/evil force called "the Dark" undoes everything which brings Vykin back to life but takes away Mark's wife and kids (she's alive but still "primitive" and the kids were never born) and Bear and Dreamer's unborn child, which means the only female protagonist spends the whole rest of the miniseries clutching her stomach and going "my baby!" I absolutely don't mean to make light of pregnancy loss but this doesn't feel like a story about a three-dimensional woman experiencing pregnancy loss. It feels like a story that reduces a woman to a) whether or not she's having a baby, which is the only thing she cares about and b) the central point on a vague love triangle with Mark and Bear. SIGH.
Meanwhile they all go to Earth for...some reason...and then Mark gets possessed by the Dark and is evil for a while but then they manage to summon Infinity Man and Mark isn't evil anymore. And it's bafflingly revealed that they're all from Earth in the first place from random different historical time periods and Highfather kidnapped them as babies. Okay???
The Forever People are perhaps Kirby's purest and most optimistic characters, and this cynical take on them actively angered me even though I don't actually care about them at all. I've also basically never cared for J. M. DeMatteis's writing outside of JLI, and I don't like Paris Cullins's art, so this book just had absolutely nothing going for it for me.
Cosmic Odyssey: I do not trust Jim Starlin with the New Gods since I know he's going to kill them all off in 2007. This is...fine, I guess? Starlin really does not like Orion, who he has slaughter a bunch of innocent, brainwashed Thanagarians, and also be deeply bigoted against Forager. Everything else is...fine? It's basically all action. The only character who has an emotional arc is John Stewart because this is the story where he fails to save Xanshi because he's being an overconfident moron, but the moral at the end of the comic is like "Get over it already" so...that happens. It's fine.
But man, that Mike Mignola artwork is worth the price of admission alone. That guy's great at drawing.
Mister Miracle Special: The plot of this is that Barda doesn't want Scott to be an escape artist anymore because it's too dangerous, even though a) she's a warrior of Apokalips and b) he's an active Justice League member and she seems fine with that. So okay.
Mister Miracle (1989): Okay, so the basic premise here - Scott and Barda try to adjust to normal life in the suburbs - is good. And it's a spiritual spinoff of JLI, which is of course one of my favorite books of all time. But this book is like...imagine someone screaming "Iiiiiiit's WACKY!" over your shoulder constantly while you're reading. That's what reading Mister Miracle (1989) is like. Highfather wears a tuxedo! Funky Flashman shows up a lot! Scott fights a giant alien noodle! Some of it is actually funny, but most of it is trying so hard to be funny that it's just exhausting.
There are some interesting character moments in there. Scott, Barda, and Orion all get to call Highfather out. Orion mentions wishing he was closer to Scott. There are hints at Scott's depression and suicidal tendencies, which I find really fascinating. But all of it is always immediately overshadowed by ZANINESS.
Anyway, I think we as DC fans deserve a do-over with a new Scott and Barda book about their lovingly domestic (kinky) life together on Earth that is funny but not desperately mugging for laughs in every panel. And I think it should be set in Vegas where Scott has a residency. Call me, DC!
New Gods (1989): This book was mostly written by Mark Evanier (a couple issues were by Starlin), who was one of Kirby's assistants back when he was originally creating the Fourth World, so you might think it would feel the closest to a continuation of Kirby's vision. Instead, I am making it Exhibit A in my argument for why a character should never be assigned to a writer who obviously fucking hates their guts.
I mean, I don't know that Evanier hates Orion. But boy does he write him like he does. Starlin's Orion (who again, we get a couple issues of here) is a monster, but Evanier's Orion is just an incompetent idiot, forever slamming himself against the brick wall of his inevitably becoming his father. Almost every single issue has at least one character, often multiple characters, bemoaning Orion's absolutely unproductive violence and inability to learn or comprehend basic concepts that should not be at all new to him after living most of his life on New Genesis (i.e. justice, mercy, compassion). Even fucking Kalibak is like "Wow, you're a useless idiot." Kalibak! The king of useless idiots!
The comic is so into hating on Orion that it hates on him when he's not actually doing anything bad; at one point he walks into a nuclear reaction that's melting down in a desperate attempt to stop it before it kills everyone, and Big Bear is like "Wow, he's just like his father." REALLY, BIG BEAR? Show me the comic where Darkseid risks his life to save thousands of strangers. I'll wait.
This series also features:
a hawkish, bloodthirsty New Genesis military leader who keeps trying to overthrow Highfather, which both seems to undercut the whole point of New Genesis as well as Orion's uniqueness as The Angry Guy;
an Earth woman with the worst gaydar in the universe repeatedly failing to fuck an increasingly uncomfortable Lightray;
but then Lightray falls in love with a dead woman he never met?;
also Orion gets a crush on a bug lady and learns to stop being racist against bugs (she's not impressed and good for her)
and Lightray and Orion parade around Earth in the WORST fashions of the late 80s/early 90s, which is about all this book has going for it.
Anyway it was bad and I'm glad I'm done with it. Next up: the 90s!
