Spring Fruits and Vegetables to Add to Your Grocery List
The combination of longer days and the Spring season’s natural blooming brings fresh colourful produce which revitalises your food table and health benefits. Spring offers the best opportunity to take advantage of nutritional fruits and vegetables since they both taste great and deliver the most essential vitamins and minerals and support local farmers while reducing environmental impact.
Tumblr media
Whether you’re looking to boost nutrition, explore new flavours, or support local agriculture, read on to discover spring's best produce selections along with its health advantages and some scrumptious recipes as an add-on to daily meals.
Why Eat Seasonal Produce?
Understanding the advantages of seasonal eating is essential before we review the seasonal produce in the spring.
Higher Nutrient Content – Spring fruits and vegetables reach their maximum vitamin content during peak season because farmers harvest them right when they become ripe.
Better Flavor – The flavour of ripe produce is much better when you consume items in their proper season. Fresh produce during its natural season tends to possess superior levels of juice and sweetness along with enhanced flavour.
Cost-Effective – The market supplies lower prices to consumers because there is an abundant supply of fresh produce. Buying items locally while they are in their natural season offers financial savings to consumers.
Supports Local Farmers – Eating what's grown in your region supports local agriculture and reduces the carbon footprint of transporting out-of-season produce.
Fewer Chemicals – The production of out-of-season produce requires additional chemicals because they must endure shipping and extended storage conditions. Food items that occur naturally within specific seasonal windows tend to arrive fresh naturally and need lower levels of manufacturing additives.
Best Fruits to Eat in Spring
Tumblr media
1.   Strawberries
Fresh strawberries create the perfect association with the season of spring. Strawberries contain essential nutrients including vitamin C and antioxidants together with dietary fibre to support your immune system and support gut health.
Ways to Enjoy:
Including strawberries in smoothies and yoghurt makes them enjoyable snacks.
Sprinkle them on top of a spinach salad with fresh dressing
Use these fruits to garnish both whole-grain pancakes and oatmeal with delicious topping
2.   Apricots
As spring approaches apricots create their season debut with their unique flavour combination of sweetness and tanginess. Fresh apricots deliver vitamin A benefits that promote eye health while keeping the skin radiant and healthy.
Ways to Enjoy:
Snack on them fresh or dried
Blend them into smoothies
Make homemade jams or chutneys with fresh apricots
3.   Cherries
Cherries bring nutrition to your palate because they contain powerful antioxidants which benefit your heart health while reducing inflammation.
Ways to Enjoy:
Eat them fresh as a snack
Make cherry compote for desserts
Cherries work perfectly for both salads and baked goods.
4.   Pineapple
Spring marks the optimal season for enjoying pineapples even though they originate from the tropics. Their vitamin C content together with bromelain makes them beneficial for digestive health and reduces stomach distension.
Ways to Enjoy:
Blend into smoothies
Grill the pineapple slices until they develop a sweet caramelised finish.
Stir-fries get a delicious sweet touch
Vegetables That Are Best in Spring
1.   Asparagus
Asparagus brings the arrival of spring through its early appearance and its fibre content along with folate and antioxidant elements. Using this vegetable promotes detoxification in the body while benefiting digestive system wellness.
Ways to Enjoy:
Use olive oil and garlic combination to roast this vegetable.
Add to omelets or frittatas
Toss into pasta dishes
2.   Artichokes
Artichokes serve as fibre-rich vegetables that benefit liver health while supporting digestion functions. Magnesium present in these vegetables helps keep your muscles working properly.
Ways to Enjoy:
Enjoy steamed artichoke with a lemon-flavoured dip
Add to Mediterranean-inspired salads
Artichokes work wonderfully when used as an ingredient in spinach-artichoke dips.
3.   Radishes
The peppery taste of radishes provides vitamin C benefits that support digestive functions.
Ways to Enjoy:
Slice and add to tacos
Raw radishes can be added to salads to add texture
Roasting this vegetable allows them to develop a mellower, sweeter taste.
4.   Peas (Sugar Snap & Snow Peas)
Peas serve as a protein-rich plant food packed with fibre for nutritious consumption.
Ways to Enjoy:
Both stir-fries and pastas benefit from the addition of these vegetables.
Mix into risottos
Enjoy raw with hummus or dips
5.   Spring Onions
Spring onions also known as green onions have a soft onion aroma while offering vitamins A and C to recipes.
Ways to Enjoy:
Sprinkle over soups and stir-fries
You can prepare these vegetables as a main side dish by grilling them.
Sprinkle green onions into scrambled eggs when making them or place them inside tacos.

12/35
I can’t believe I’m still doing this. That’s some dedication right there. Woke up and had one espresso and one machinetta coffee with a glass of water at my boyfriend’s house.
Ate for breakfast (pre-training) a protein yoghurt and 30gr of oatmeal.
Today’s erg was grueling. 3x3k at 30spm on average. Sweat my ass off. But the endorphin high kicked in and I went in directly to my weights session.
Had a big lunch post workout at 11am, consisting of one roasted chicken white (about 250gr), a medium potato with paprika and a quarter of an onion. Made myself another comically large Turkish coffee and a bottle of water and settled down to work again.
Came home and broke. I had 100g of chicken, with 4 spoons of corn, 8 black olives, 5 pickles, 6 cherry tomatoes. So far so good.
Then I wanted a little snack to treat myself. Had a quarter slice of rye bread with 3 scoops of peanut butter and 2 teaspoons of date honey. And then I had another one, this time with apricot jam. And five handfuls of cashews. And 3 stroopwafels. Another full slice of rye bread, with 30g of Manchego, two shavings of butter, one spoon of honey. Five Nutella cookies with half a cup of sugar free oat milk. 100g of peanut butter chips. 2 scoops of peanut butter. 30g of salami. One boiled egg.
I don’t know. I’m in so much pain right now. I am so angry with myself and my stomach is upset and I wish I could hurt myself instead of doing this to myself. I wish I could say that I’m just not eating properly and that’s why I react like this but - I’ve been really good, eating till I’m full and gathering diverse nutrients. I’ve even allowed myself the occasional snack or treat. And the weights’ been going well. I am tired of exerting control on myself through food and beating myself up every time I don’t hold up to the impossible standard of the day. I wish I could just forgive myself.
Three glasses of water.

⤑   TAKE A PEAK
you’re really making me add this to a read more again, huh.
5. closet
raleigh: his button up shirts & nicer tee shirts on clothes racks with sweaters on the top shelf and shoes on the floor below. he doesn’t have too much room in it otherwise. liz: her closest is too complicated, fuck that. but, while the majority of it is white, the clothes are organized by shades based on the electromagnetic spectrum. surprisingly, most of her shirts are her nasa polos & the only consistent outfit within the closest. because she usually has less than 10 outfits at a time. she swaps out clothes during the seasons, and resales clothes after wearing them a couple times. her sweaters, her personal ones or stolen ones, are kept in drawers within the bedroom alongside jeans & workout attire. like clothes, she has a selected amount of shoes on a bottom shelf. while it won’t be as big as this closest, this has the general vibes. jamie: like raleigh, his button up shirts and any suits. maybe some of his track wear that shouldn’t wrinkle. nicer tee shirts his tennis shoes... and of course his horse gear hiding in the corner :3 maddie: her clothes are just swung on racks when in a hurry to actually clean. if it’s in order, it’s because liz cleaned maddie’s room. most of her shirts are band shirts and leather & jean jackets.
10. pantry
raleigh: box pasta (he loves bow ties because they look like bow ties), rice, cereals (mainly honey nut cheerios, and he’ll try all the flavors), chips (like pretzels, cheetos, popcorn), and kraft mac n’ cheese. then basic baking stuff like cake mixes, sugar, salt, like, typical foods that’s mixed around where he has to scan for a bit to find what he wants. only his teas are organized. and dog food on the bottom. liz: her apartment does not have a pantry. rip. but they way she has food organized is precise.  jamie: his studio does not have a pantry. but it would have box stuff similar to raleigh... but vegan versions... alongside having the most spices out of everyone else and protein stuff. and his would be organized like liz’s. maddie: her apartment does not have a pantry. it would probably be empty besides her box of animal crackers if she did tho. thank goodness she lives with liz.
15. bookcase
raleigh: his bookcase holds some of his prized possessions and is one of the few thing he actually keeps organized in his place. and here’s how the bare bones would look like. those science fiction books from his piano instructor, a completed lego models of the millennium falcon and the enterprise as “bookends” with some of his preferred star wars & star trek books, though the models take up more space on that shelf. then everything else is just books with some other trinkets that are vague in my head for now. liz: so she has two bookshelves. the first one is in the living area that most to hold themed books and props to whatever theme caitlyn or liz arranged, though now it’s a combination of whatever maddie and liz want to share in that space. this is what that one would look like, though different items. within her bedroom, liz has a plain shelf with image of it here with several books ordered by the dewey system. she may swap out books when she fells it’s too full, but some of her prized book, like her little women book from her childhood or her engineering textbook from her first class with dr. kumar, will always remain. even if liz may read more on her phone (considering it’s cheaper with the library app), she likes to have physical copies of ones she does enjoy or preorder. oh, slightly off topic, but she’s definitely one of those that reads all the books in bill gates or obama’s book lists every year; she should really join a book club. once liz gets a house, you bet that her bookshelf will look like this one in her study. jamie: this dumbass doesn’t read. maddie: while she doesn’t have too many books for a bookshelf, she does have a vinyl rack. or well, something liz built for her that’s similar to this but maddie would paint lighting bolts on the sides because the sides reminded her of lighting bolts. but she has a simple vinyl rack to store her vinyl that will become canvas for her paintings. and, as for the living room bookshelf, she has one of her 70s cameras she found at an antique store that liz cleaned up for her alongside some of her favorite vinyls to show off or, well, not necessary favorite favorites but ones people will recognize & fit with liz, like fleetwood mac rumors. then, there’s a succulent that liz doesn’t touch that maddie keeps care for; his name is pumpkin because of the orange pot.
20. refrigerator
raleigh: leftovers from takeout, since normally one takeout plate lasts for two meals. then there’s ketchup, soy sauce, milk, eggs, butter, yoghurt (blueberry or oreo preferred), jelly & jam (mainly blueberry or apricot & there’s even blueberry orange marmalade because why not) some veggies, mainly bell peppers & mushrooms, cheeses, chicken, & hot dogs for his dogs. liz: since maddie & liz would share one, i’m listing things that mainly liz’s here. so she has the meal prep meals in containers throughout the work week. leftovers also last longer for her, about three meals. then there’s meats, mainly chicken & salmon (her favorite), basic things like eggs & milk etc, apple butter, jelly & jam (mainly blackberry & grape), worcestershire sauce, & ketchup. jamie: like, all the veggies you can think of. vegan cheeses, oat milk, cilantro, pickles, jam & jelly (mainly strawberry) leftovers. maddie: the avocadoes in the fridge is because of her. there’s also bbq sauce, sriracha, & leftovers. oh, the the mango habanero jam is hers too.
25. five most recent google search history
raleigh: 1. names for shades of yellow / 2. beekeeping in urban setting / 3. bee species in california / 4. the most common bee in the world / 5. bees in winter  liz: her google search history has been cleared so i can’t share it :/ jamie: 1. football season updates / 2. how much irrnekg (accidental when holly laid on the keyboard / 3. how much is 8 m in feet / 4. inheritance issues / 5. manage a farm long distance maddie: 1. fairy wings reference / 2. fabric paint in local stores / 3. sour candy lyrics / 4. blinking guy meme / 5. keyboard sale
30. netflix watch history (or just clumping all the streaming services here)
raleigh: the mandalorian, david attenborough’s animal documentaries, x files, dr. oakley yukon vet and yes he cries at every episode don’t judge, indiana jones trilogy no fourth liz: downton abbey, fixer upper, pride & prejudice, the biggest little farm, i am greta, and i guess space documentaries... oh, and the lotr trilogy like, three times already :/ jamie: the office, gilmore girls, flashdance, like all of audrey hepburn’s movies but he tries to hide all of this with fast & furious and cobra kai and action stuff maddie: halloween, nightmare before christmas, the chilling adventures of sabrina, glow, the get down, sailor moon, wayne’s world, magica madoka, the breakfast club

Notes:
1. Difference between šerpa and lonac: the depth of šerpa is bigger than the diameter of its bottom. Šerpa is deeper than lonac. (Not sure if that makes sense? That’s the only way I can explain it)  2. Piletina, ćuretina, etc. are the words for meat, not for the animals  3. Difference between supa and čorba: soup is clear, with noodles, čorba is creamy
Bonus: some dishes charasteristic of Serbia (and other Balkan countries)
бурек (burek), m - burek is made from layers of dough, alternating with layers of other fillings in a circular baking pan and then topped with a last layer of dough. Traditionally it may be baked with no filling (prazan, meaning empty), with stewed minced meat and onions, or with cheese. (DO NOT come to me saying ‘‘burek je samo sa mesom’‘ because this is post about food in Serbia, and we think every burek is valid. This is no place for the burek discourse.)
пљескавица (pljeskavica), f - a grilled dish of spiced meat patty mixture of pork, beef and lamb, is a national dish of Serbia
ћевапи (ćevapi), m, pl - a grilled dish of minced meat, a type of kebab (another national dish of Serbia)
Карађорђева шницла (Karađorđeva šnicla), f - a breaded rolled steak stuffed with kajmak, sliced ham and cheese.

проја (proja), f -  a dish made of corn flour, baking powder, sunflower oil, sparkling water and salt.
гибаница (gibanica), f - a traditional pastry dish popular all over the Balkans. It is usually made with cottage cheese and eggs.
качамак (kačamak), m - kind of maize porridge
попара (popara), f -  a dish made with bread and cheese
ђувеч (đuveč), m - a vegetable dish similar to ratatouille. Either stewed or baked as a casserole.
подварак (podvarak), m - a Serbian dish, popular across Balkans. The primary ingredients are sauerkraut or fresh cabbage, finely chopped onions and meat, usually porkroast or lightly cooked chicken, which are then combined and baked in an oven in order for all flavors to combine.
пребранац (prebranac), m -  a bean casserole
сарма (sarma), f -  cabbage or vine leaves, stuffed with rice and minced meat.
ражњићи (ražnjići), m, pl -  chunks of meat and vegetables grilled on skewers
ајвар (ajvar), m - a pepper-based condiment made from red bell peppers. It can be mild or spicy.
пинђур (pinđur), m - similar to ajvar but generally made with eggplant. In some regions the words are used interchangeably.
слатко (slatko), n - a thin fruit preserve made of fruit or rose petals
компот (kompot), m - a non-alcoholic sweet beverage of Slavic origin, that may be served hot or cold, depending on tradition and season

Did we ever hear what the menu was for Harry and Meghan's receptions, both of them? I'd love to know what they served at both of them. Also do you know how long it will be before Megan's dress will be on display like Catherine's was?
The menu for the lunch reception was released in a press release at the time:
Guests will be served a selection of canapés, including:
Scottish Langoustines wrapped in Smoked Salmon with Citrus Crème Fraiche
Grilled English Asparagus wrapped in Cumbrian Ham
Garden Pea Panna Cotta with Quail Eggs and Lemon Verbena
Heritage Tomato and Basil Tartare with Balsamic Pearls
Poached Free Range Chicken bound in a Lightly Spiced Yoghurt with Roasted Apricot
Croquette of Confit Windsor Lamb, Roasted Vegetables and Shallot Jam
Warm Asparagus Spears with Mozzarella and Sun-Blush Tomatoes
Guests will also be served a selection of bowl food, including:
Fricassee of Free Range Chicken with Morel Mushrooms and Young Leeks
Pea and Mint Risotto with Pea Shoots, Truffle Oil and Parmesan Crisps
Ten Hour Slow Roasted Windsor Pork Belly with Apple Compote and Crackling
Sweet canapés will also be served, including:
Champagne and Pistachio Macaroons
Orange Crème Brûlée Tartlets
Miniature Rhubarb Crumble Tartlets
The wedding cake will also be served at the Reception. Designed by Claire Ptak, the wedding cake features elderflower syrup made at The Queen’s residence in Sandringham from the estate’s own elderflower trees, as well as a light sponge cake uniquely formulated for the couple. A filling made from Amalfi lemon curd and elderflower buttercream ties all the elements together. The cake is decorated with Swiss meringue buttercream and 150 fresh flowers, mainly British and in season, including peonies and roses.
To drink, guests will be served Pol Roger Brut Réserve Non Vintage Champagne, and a selection of wines. A range of soft drinks will also be served, including an apple and elderflower mocktail, made with the same elderflower syrup as used in the wedding cake, and Sandringham Cox’s apple juice.
The Reception will include the cutting of the wedding cake and speeches from The Prince of Wales and Prince Harry. The Duke of Cambridge, who is the Best Man, will act as compere for the Reception.

We weren’t given any information about the dinner reception, though!
And as for the dress, I have no idea.

FRENCH BAKED GOODIES 🍰✨ // Vanilla tart (aud7); Mandarin Tart (aud7); Tarte au Fromage Blanc: Baked Cheesecake (aud5) and Choux Caramel (aud3.50) from newly-opened Louis Boeglin, Subiaco. Lovely chatting to Yllana who kindly #gifted me a jar of their preservatives-free apricot and rhubarb jam to try. 😋 Love all the baked goodies. Their baked cheesecake is made from yoghurt and the texture is super light and fluffy - it reminds me a little of Japanese cotton cheesecake. The tart shells are crumbly and crispy. Loving the fresh seasonal special : Mandarin Tart. The Choux Caramel was perfect and gone in a flash. Bonus points for just the right amount of sweetness (not too sweet). Found another patisserie I love in Perth (in addition to Harvest Scarborough & Zie from Butter Crumbs). 😋😍 #louisboeglin #subiaco #bakery #french #perthbakery #tart #cheesecake #choux #caramel #pastries #desserts #perthdesserts #PFR_LouisBoeglin #PFR_Bakery (at Louis Boeglin Pâtisserie) https://www.instagram.com/p/CKlupPdjDxG/?igshid=e5cachx14fau

the whole thing approximately dried fruits apricots
unsulphurized Picked directly from the tree, apricots are wonderfully candy refreshment on warm summer season days.
unfortunately, like other ripe fruits, fresh apricots need to be eaten speedy and in most cases only last up to 2 days. so you don't have to wait longingly for the following apricot harvest all year round, we've come up with some thing very unique: Dried fruits, dried apricots - an ideal snack for on the go!
the best mixture of sweet and bitter originally from central Asia, the delicious, sun-ripened fruits at the moment are mainly produced in Turkey.
The apricot is a stone fruit within the rose family. even as fresh fruit it tastes very fragrant and splendidly candy.
because of the gentle air drying, the particular taste of the apricot becomes even more intense. similarly to their aromatic sweetness, apricots get a pleasantly sour note during drying. we've got not anything to feature to such a taste explosion. And best of all: Our apricots are unsulphurized and include no extra sugar - simply pure fruit amusement.
plenty more than just a snack whether in muesli, as a topping for yoghurt and desserts or truly as a snack - the small energy fruits turn out to be a actually fruity all-rounder.
in case you fancy a little DIY spreads, you can also use the dried apricots for fruity jams or fragrant chutneys. another tip for those of you who like to experiment: The apricots are also really good in hearty dishes which include Indian rice dishes or oriental stews.
deliver it a strive - there aren't any limits to your creativity!as though that weren't enough, you also store with the benefit size and at the same time avoid useless packaging waste.

what does the "soft" meals mean? jw I've never heard that before
Ah yes sorry, sorry, I haven’t really explained that…So when you are admitted to the ward you are started on the “soft 1″ meal plan and then you move to “soft 2″ before transitioning to the main full meal plan. (although some people might start on different plans depending on their intake when they arrive, their bloods etc) I will put this under a read more and give an example of what the menus look like… Trigger warning as meal plans are below
Soft plan 1:Breakfast: Greek yoghurt + apricots or pears with a mug of diluted apple or orange juiceMorning Snack: MilkLunch: Custard with apricots or pears or a banana OR rice pudding and diluted juice drink Afternoon Snack: MilkDinner: there were four options to choose from and portions were very small so it was either macaroni cheese, shepards pie, plain omelette with a scoop of mash or fish in parsley sauce with a scoop of mash - all come with a bit of veg and with diluted juice drink Dessert: YoghurtSnack: Milk(snacks could be greek yoghurt if you didn’t want milk)
Soft plan 2:Breakfast: Cornflakes with milk OR porridge AND greek yoghurt +apricots/pears with a mug of diluted apple or orange juiceSnack: MilkLunch: Again there were 4 choices: cauliflower cheese with scoop of mash, chicken casserole with one scoop of mash, fish in cheese sauce with scoop of mash or pasta in leek and mushroom sauce (again served with veg) diluted juice Dessert: Custard with apricots/pears/or banana OR rice puddingSnack: MilkDinner: Same as soft 1Dessert: Same as soft 1Snack: Milk
Then you transition to the full menu day by day: one day you do full breakfast, the next full lunch, then full dinner and then finally snacks….
Full menu plan:
Breakfast: A little complex to explain but there are four sections that you pick 3 from, one of which has to be juice, and then the other sections are cereal and milk (of which there are a few options), the second section is  2slices of toast with spreads or bloomer toast with spread or sometimes a croissant with spread. and the third section is greek yoghurt with an option of two different fruits or baked beans on toast.
Lunch: glass of juice or mug of soup then This is the ‘bigger’ meal of the day but you get an option of 4 things; they could be cold or hot but are all around the same amount calorie wiseDessert: the ‘lighter’ of the desserts, you get to choose from 2 or 3 options, usually something like yoghurt with granola and apricots, rice pudding, big cookie etc
Afternoon snack: milk and fruit
Dinner: The smaller of the meals (again might be hot or cold depending on the options that come up, which you can chose out of 4) plus a glass of juice Dessert: Heavy dessert of the day so this is something like crumble and custard, sponge and custard, ice cream pot and fruit, cake and custard etc.
Evening snack: Milk and either 2 digestives or a slice of toast with spread/jam/PB

September 2020
Your fears are ebbing, your confidence is rising, and proof that I exist can now be felt in your touch by loved ones, found in your smile by friends, and seen in your countenance by strangers. Everything, for you, will now begin getting easier, happier, and zippier. / The Universe (from Mike Dooley's Notes from the Universe newsletter, September 3)
Time of the Season
Coming home. Solitude. Lots of Sonnentor Gute Laune tea.
Fixing a toaster. I love how easy it is to disassemble old electronic devices.
Full moon magic. Manifesting. Perhaps the time has come - maybe I'm finally going insane. But I keep receiving these messages (or rather have very strong urges and feelings) at the moment. I felt super out of place, out of touch and out of luck these last few weeks, like something was wrong with me for being different, thinking differently. I just couldn't deal with people's energies anymore (hectic, stressful, close-minded, inflexible, conservative, rule-abiding). But something tells me I'm on the right path when I stick to what is good for me. All signs are pointing the way. I'm so curious for the things to come.
Vivid dreams about family issues, my brother dying in an accident, consoling my mum, browsing through an imaginary grandma's treasures in her attic apartment.
Strictly speaking this is not a thing I love because I hate wearing face masks and I miss wearing lipstick so goddamn much but I have found silk to be the perfect material. Super smooth, soft, breathable and light.
Advancement in my self-love journey. Listening to my body. Trying to give it exactly what it needs. I don't know what happened but there has been such a profound change in the way I treat myself and the worthiness I suddenly feel. I'm much more able to let go of situations and people that are harmful to my mental well-being. I am enough.
Christina's Matcha Mornings podcast. It's so interesting to see the direction she has taken. I met her in Vienna ten years ago after reading her LiveJournal for years. My inspiration.
How to be more alive in the moment.
Random bit of trivia: there is not a single subway station in Munich that includes the letter Ä. I'm a collector of weird facts.
The Vintage Books edition of Patti Smith's Year of the Monkey. I love the grey, cream, the black and white photograph. The rough cut. Also: learning about Miss Christine and Girls Together Outrageously. I ordered a few of Patti's books the other day because I'm quite interested in her art - photography, visual art, poetry.
Making a list of my artistic heroines. So far Patti Smith, Marina Abramovich, Siri Hustvedt, Nina Hagen, Louise Bourgeois and Donna Tartt are on it. And Ramapriya, a former yoga teacher.
Magic Eye holo images. I was obsessed as a child and it's just as fascinating to me again now.
Manifesting male company. The conversations are nice so far, let's see where these lead.
Popping bubble wrap.
Going on a long Sunday walk. Sunshine. Smelling wild roses on the way. Eating a whole wheat croissant in front of the churchyard.
Finding practical solutions. Decluttering.
Ayurvedic rituals.
Drinking coffee in the morning, especially on days I can stay at home. What a productivity high!
Waking up crazy early on a Saturday. Reading my current favourite, a Leigh Bardugo fantasy trilogy. Breakfast with fresh raspberries and coffee from my friend's roastery. With barista soy milk foam. Getting a hot water bottle. Going back to bed, reading some more. My new Saturday routine: cleaning, making crisp bread. Doing the laundry.
Listening to old Radiohead songs. In Rainbows is my favourite album. OK Computer a close second.
A sudden desire to move. Yoga, blackroll, stretching, dancing. So nice. It's quite rare that my body actually wants to be moved and used because usually I have issues with low energy or an aching joint. The other day I took a walk and came across an ad for Kundalini yoga in my neighbourhood. Unfortunately the couple who gave the class have since moved away but Sarah gave me some recommendations for other Kundalini classes nearby. I have to try it!
The beautiful Sunday morning sunset.
An obsession with an O.P.I nail polish with the worst name ever. A very soft, pale pink. Currently I won't accept anything else on my fingernails.
Heighted awareness. A better connection to my needs and desires. Figuring it all out. A miraculous change in my eating behaviour. I just can't seem to overeat anymore.
Sister Shanti.
A warm breakfast. Herbal tea, miso soup with furikake, dashi, roasted sesame and a sheet of nori. Ayurvedic porridge with soy yoghurt, blueberries and my usual mix of nuts, cacao nibs, hemp and flax seeds. Bircher muesli. Coffee with barista style soy milk.
Creativity connected to the moon cycle.
Visiting my mum. Driving out to her workplace for the first time in years. Taking home lots of crystals. Singing along to old songs on the radio. Her outrageously delicious cookies with nuts, chocolate and apricot jam. Talking about the important stuff. Connecting. Spending hours in the woods on a mushroom forage. Having dumplings with creamy mushroom sauce for lunch on Sunday. Getting to now Martin's grandchildren. They took a liking to me. I was their witch and had to come up with new magic spells all the time. I would summon mushrooms (or have them appear on someone's bum) and turn the boys into crocodiles or broccoli.
There's a new Fleet Foxes album!
A very nice and pretty comprehensive autumn movie list. It inspired me to make my own.
to have pull with - Have a means of gaining advantage with, have influence on, as in She had pull with several of the board members. [Colloquial; late 1800s]
Making my favourite vegan Lebkuchen with lots of nuts, dark chocolate and marzipan. They're huge so eating one of them is already very satisfying.
Reconnecting with Christina. Sending each other voice messages on Instagram. Talking about personal growth, our internet presence from ten years ago, her MatchaMornings website and so much more. We might even meet next time she's in Munich!
Stealing a piece of stale bread from Frank's oven. Eating with with a dollop of delicious soured butter.
I kinda like how we're forming a new tradition. Visiting Frank after school, waiting for him to finish work, cooking something, watching a movie or an episode of a TV series (we just got started with the new season of Fargo).
Doing a little research on the lyrics to my favourite Epic Rap Battle of History (Dr. Seuss vs. William Shakespeare). We had suspected that part of it was written in sonnet style but unfortunately we couldn't prove our theory.
Becky giving my compliments for how cute my face looks when I'm wearing my foxy hat. I actually found another hat in the same style online. I'm going to check that website every day from now on because I know that there are hats with robins and squirrels out there and someone will put them up for sale sooner or later.
Walking home from the hairdressers. Quickly avoiding bumping into a long-haired dude walking towards me. He imitated my swift move and smiled at me. I giggled and somehow we had a tiny connection, a fraction of a moment together.
