I’m looking at Dark Choco’s fortune and I wonder, what does it mean by “your wandering is over”? Because like…it’s not like that’s what he was doing until we see him in Episode 13-14, he was with the Cookies of Darkness. From what I can tell, he was really only wandering after Episode 14, as we saw in the Holiday Update
Is this like, some sort of metaphorical meaning, like after succumbing to the Strawberry Jam Sword that first time, he didn’t know what to do with himself, so in that sense he was wandering, trying to find a purpose? Am I just being dumb and not seeing what it’s supposed to mean?
I dunno, but given the wording, it feels like a hint that Dark Choco will be coming back sooner rather than later. It’s not saying “you will eventually find out what comes next for you”, no it’s very direct, as if this is going to be happening soon. Also the fact that again, it says “wandering”. If it said something along the lines of “days in the dark” or something relating to darkness, then it’d sound more like a hopeful message saying now that he’s free, a new adventure awaits him. But again, it doesn’t say that. To me it sounds more like, “alright enough meandering, you’re coming back to the plot” (well not in those words, but you get what I mean)
#tbh if he does come back in the next episode or two I feel like that’s a bit too soon#yes it’s been several months since we’ve seen him but you gotta remember#episode 14 which heavily featured Dark Choco and his eventual leaving of the CoD was technically the last episode#yeah there’s Odyssey in between but if you didn’t know that then it would seem really quick#like he was just in the last arc why is he showing up again in the very next one?#it’s not that I don’t want Dark Choco to come back to the plot he’s my favorite character and I’d love to see him as soon as possible#it’s just that it feels a bit too quick yeah? Like in terms of storytelling#or I’m just completely wrong#I dunno just diving into this fortune#I’m gonna be trying to get all of them so if I see any others that stand out to me I’ll probably say something#cookie run kingdom#dark choco cookie#new year update#random stuff#speculation

*merlins magic gets exposed in front of the knights*
merlin, magic user: oh fuck
arthur, finally taking this opportunity to pretend as if he just found out merlin has magic after agonizing for the past month on how to bring it up: you have magic?
lancelot, merlin defender, already knew of merlin’s magic: no! i have magic
gwaine, merlin defender, already knew of merlin’s magic, lover of chaos, ride or die: no, i have magic!
mordred, desperate for his hero’s approval bc no matter what he’s done emrys just stares at him with distrust and the poor boy is tired and so close to tears: no…i have magic.
percival, raised by druids and bonded strongly with mordred over that and does Not agree with the persecution of magic in camelot, had an inkling that merlin had magic but no proof: no. i have magic.
*leon and elyan exchange a look, elyan, amused and leon, exhausted, elyan shrugs*
elyan, knows how much gwen adores merlin and completely understands her stance bc merlin…is merlin, down to clown and put on a show, really playing up the dramatics: no! i have magic.
leon, exhausted, has known of merlin’s magic since he stepped foot in camelot, knows of his feelings for arthur and arthur’s feelings for him, knows arthur knows of merlin’s magic and wouldn’t harm him, thinks everyone is being absolutely ridiculous:
*the knights stare hard at leon and even merlin looks slightly offended at leon not jumping to his defense with the rest of the knights, arthur hasn’t said anything and is staring at leon expectantly*
leon, sighing: …no. i have magic.

Question for the DP fandom:
Do you think Danny’s hair turns white when it falls out? It’s technically dead cells anyway but when it naturally falls off his head, do you think it turns white? Because I think it would be hilarious if his hairbrush just has white hair, no black strands whatsoever, and his significant other thought the worst until they know his secret.

Imagine Darrel Curtis not wanting kids after Ponyboy and Sodapop.
Imagine, Darrel Curtis, the spitting image of a once amazing father, all the right qualifications to parent a kid just fine, the image of masculinity, not wanting kids.
In the 1960’s no less, a time where the perfect American dream idealistic family was on the rise, and fast. The thought that you were put on this earth to have a happy and successful life, and the way to do that is to have a family. Be a father, or a mother. Raise a child.
When Darrel’s parents die he realizes that it’s not all it’s cracked up to be.
He’s shopping for groceries when he first realizes how much of a hastle it must be. He’s deciding what to buy, what will cost less to support his brothers when he sees a woman, much older than him, cradling a baby on her hip and a toddler crying behind her. ‘What a hastle..’ he thinks to himself. She’s holding two things in her hands, then reluctantly places one back on the shelf.
He realizes, that’s exactly what he’d just done.
Next it’s a dad at the park, at that small field he and the gang play football. He’s playing catch with his son, throwing a baseball back and forth with it landing firmly in their gloves.
He’s picking up the football tossing it around in his hands because Ponyboy had just left him to go talk to that Shepard kid he just saw walk in.
The father catches the ball one last time before the kid shouts at him, the father gives him a thumbs up as the kid discards the gloves and runs to go hang out with another group of boys.
He realizes, that’s exactly what just happened to him.
Finally, the mother and father with the two twins, a boy and a girl. They look fed up as the two pre-teens bicker in the middle of a parking lot. They’re fighting over the seat of the car they get to sit in, who called shot gun.
They completely disregarded their father who was already climbing into the front seat to sit next to his wife as the argument started. The husband and wife look at each other in annoyance.
He turns back to his truck to find Two-Bit with his feet on the dash, and a distraught looking Ponyboy and annoyed Sodapop in the back seat.
He turns back to the family, choosing to ignore the gang. The mother and father look like they’ve gone through this before, and they’re just about tired of it.
He realizes— things don’t change when you get ‘the dream.’
It’ll always be the same.
He won’t be happier struggling to afford groceries with kids when he already does that.
He won’t be happy being under appreciated by his son, because he already is.
He won’t be happy with petty arguments all the time, because there already are.
He’s not happy like this, he didn’t choose this. And if he had— he still wouldn’t be.

i can’t stop thinking about how well bolas rojas has adapted to the conditions of purgatory. they embrace whatever suffering and lack of materials they have, they cheer for certain disasters (mainly the fog), they further embrace their insanity, laugh at their lack of mental wellbeing, they physically fight each other and die for fun. they invite the poor conditions like they weren’t missing luxuries like op backpacks and castles a few days ago. they truly embody the hellscape they’re trapped in because they were so utterly stomped to the ground from the start that they have embraced the mud as their new home.
so actually to correct my first point of this post, they haven’t adapted to the conditions of purgatory, they were reborn, created and molded from the flames of it.

Look, I love Jon as much as the next person but I think some of you have gone so far along the ‘Jon is a sad little man who did nothing wrong’ route that you’ve genuinely forgotten all the times he held power in a situation or like. Made a decision that hurt people
#yes Jon was in a terrible situation where he was manipulated and was often powerless and blamed for things he had no control over#yes there have been times where the fandom has been overly critical of Jon and it’s ok to try to combat that#but that does not mean Jon is completely powerless and ‘stupid’ and did nothing wrong!!!!#the entire Point of tma is that the morality of your actions and their results cannot be simply defined as good or bad#Jon was just a person who tried and sometimes failed#also it was a pretty big part of s5 that Jon was the most powerful person in the world. like. did we forget about the murders or#AND the stalking AND him being a totally arse to Martin in s1#anyway I understand where the poor little meow meow characterisation comes from but to me it’s just doing a disservice to Jon#ugh I can’t believe I’m kinda engaging in discourse#gonna be brave and maintag this:#tma#the magnus archives#Jon sims#be nice to me pls

Wei Wuxian and Narrative Agency – Part Three
For Xiantober Day Five: Past and Present, in which the author gets very unhinged about what parts of the past are shown and how that’s affected by the present!
(Part One | Part Two | Full version on AO3)
The Power of Agency: Shaping the Narrative
When I've discussed Wei Wuxian's agency previously, I’ve talked about how what’s shown and omitted tells us about a character, and we’ve talked about the character himself. Though this is a niche topic, it’s not necessarily something out of the ordinary to analyse, and we can assume everything up to here has been in some way intentional.
This? Linking structure to a character’s in-universe preferences?
This is where we get unhinged.
Before I start, let’s quickly establish something which will be important later: although Wei Wuxian is the central character, MDZS isn’t strictly from his POV. While omitting events a character doesn’t like to dwell on and concealing things the character wishes to hide is common in books with only one narrator, MDZS has multiple narrators which it switches between relatively quickly. This includes Wei Wuxian, but it also includes nearly every major character that appears in the story, and omniscient narrator as well. As a default, this format doesn’t lead to this deliberate shaping and omission because of one character’s preferences, since we have many other sources of information and events – which is what makes Wei Wuxian’s influence over the narrative and structure so interesting. We could have access to a lot more information, and access to it at different times, than we do (and that’s not an insult, quite the opposite!).
To begin: we’ve established that times such as Wei Wuxian’s time on the streets, his three months in the Burial Mounds and his loss in the Siege aren’t shown because Wei Wuxian has little agency there. But that’s not the only special thing about them. They’re also the three most traumatic times in his life, and so moments Wei Wuxian himself either can’t remember, or doesn’t like to dwell on.
This is why discussing Wei Wuxian’s treatment of tragedy in his life was important. Firstly, it shows he doesn’t focus on the tragedy in his life, so the idea that the narrative not focusing on this tragedy relates to his character has merit; secondly, it affirms that this is not a passive trait, but a choice. Therefore, when the narrative omits events due to this aspect of Wei Wuxian, it’s respecting not only a character detail – which would be cool by itself – but also an active decision. One that shapes the story it’s made in.
In other words, its very structure is respecting Wei Wuxian’s agency!
Now, of course there are flashbacks to other moments of his past he probably wouldn’t like to dwell on, too. But within the structure, they’re only shown when Wei Wuxian is thinking about them (or when he has reason to)!
Wei WuXian hadn’t woken up yet. His eyes were still tightly shut, yet his hand didn’t let go either. He seemed to be dreaming, muttering, “… Don’t… Don’t be angry…” Lan WangJi seemed somewhat surprised. His voice was gentle, “I am not angry.” Wei WuXian, “… Oh.” Hearing this, as though he finally felt assured, his fingers loosened. Lan WangJi sat beside Wei WuXian for a while. Seeing that he was motionless again, he was about to stand up when Wei WuXian grabbed him with his other hand, hugging his arm and refusing to let go. He shouted, “I’ll go with you, quick, take me back to your sect!” Chapter 63, EXR translation
Which, of course, is him dwelling on…
Lan WangJi spoke one word at a time, “Go back to Gusu with me.” Hearing this, both Wei WuXian and Jiang Cheng were surprised. Quickly afterward, Wei WuXian laughed, “Go back to Gusu with you? To the Cloud Recesses? Why go there?” He immediately seemed to realize, “Oh. I forgot. Your uncle Lan QiRen hates crooked people like me. You’re his proudest disciple, so of course you’re the same as him, haha. I refuse.” Chapter 62, EXR translation
…the painful flashback immediately preceding this. The third set of flashbacks (which are also painful) are a similar case. Look at the contex:
He lifted the bottom of his robe, revealing a prosthetic leg made of wood, “This leg of mine was destroyed by you, that night in the Nightless City (…)” (…) “Wei WuXian, I won’t ask you if you remember or not. Both of my parents died by your hands. You owe too many people. You definitely won’t remember them either. But, I, Fang MengChen, will never forget! And never forgive you!” (…) “In the fight at Qiongqi Path, my son was strangled to death by your dog Wen Ning!” “My shixiong died by poison, his entire body festering due to your cruel curse!” Chapter 68 (immediately preceding the flashbacks), EXR translation
And Wei Wuxian’s own thoughts and words:
Wei WuXian looked at the cultivators before the Demon-Slaughtering Cave. Their expressions were the absolute same as those of the cultivators from the night of the pledge conference, pouring their wine on the ground as they took the pledge to scatter the ashes of the Wen Sect’s remnants and him. (…) Wei WuXian, “Now it’s time to ask just whom it is that treasures it so much. It’s like Wen Ning. Back then, some certain sects or so were scared to death of the Ghost General. They said they’d kill him on the surface, but behind their backs they hid him for over ten years. How strange. Who was the one that said his ashes had been scattered back then?” Chapter 79 (immediately succeeding the flashbacks), EXR translation
Once again, Wei Wuxian’s own thoughts relate to the flashbacks we’ve just been shown. And, as I previously mentioned, though all the events which are shown are tragic, they’re also events which Wei Wuxian’s own choices and actions shaped – which he has this to say about:
“The things I did, not only do you remember them, I remember them too. You won’t forget them, and they’ll stay even longer in my mind!” Chapter 82, EXR
Admittedly, this applies more to the third set of flashbacks than the second (which is still fitting as the third set was the most recent), as in the second, although he still had agency within and influence over his circumstances, the majority of the pain was caused by others’ actions (excluding, of course, the Golden Core transfer… which is something we know stays for a long time in his mind, albeit with a caveat we’ll soon discuss). But it’s still important to note – especially considering that otherwise, focusing on this very painful time in his life wouldn’t seem like something very in-character for Wei Wuxian to do.
Of course, this can all just be explained by good writing. It is best to insert flashbacks when they’re relevant to the characters and events in the present day! But it is interesting to compare these to the start of the (not painful) Gusu flashbacks, which open this way:
At a later time, Wei WuXian pondered upon the reason why his relationship with Lan WangJi wasn’t good. Getting to the root of the matter, everything started when he was fifteen, coming to the GusuLan Sect with Jiang Cheng to study for three months. Chapter 13, EXR
Again, considering the circumstances around which these flashbacks take place – returning to the Cloud Recesses for the first time since the lectures, and meeting Lan Wangji once more – it makes complete sense for Wei Wuxian to be thinking about these events*. So it does fit the pattern of Wei Wuxian dwelling on something, thus leading to the narrative dwelling on it, too (and being shaped by his thoughts)… but there’s another layer to this. Importantly, it is the only flashback where Wei Wuxian’s present thoughts don’t lead to this happening, with his thoughts at an unspecified future time leading to it, instead. I like to interpret this as the text saying that, since these events aren’t something Wei Wuxian wouldn’t focus on in normal circumstances, he can dwell on them at any time. Therefore, they’re free to come up in the narrative at any time as well, even if he’s not dwelling on them in the present moment!
So, to summarise: Wei Wuxian’s decision not to focus on the painful times in his life directly influences the narrative to not focus on these times. When painful times are brought up and shown to us, it’s in the context of him thinking about them in the present day, and even then, his most painful moments still aren’t shown to us. His agency in this regard is still respected by the narrative structure.
This is the main way his agency influences the structure of the narrative, but I’d like to talk about the revealing and concealing of information, too. For example, I said I’d talk about the Golden Core transfer – though Wei Wuxian does think about this many times, as evidenced by his internal narration in Chapter 103. But unlike everything we’re shown through the flashbacks, this is something Wei Wuxian is actively trying to hide from others. And the narrative respects this choice (Wei Wuxian’s agency, again), never reveals it even when it would be relevant in the flashbacks, and we find out not through narration, but through a character’s dialogue!
And to clarify – I know these aspects may not be in the book for this exact reason. Showing flashbacks in relevant moments is good writing, concealing an important plot point you want to do a reveal for is necessary writing, and MXTX has said she didn’t want to write about Wei Wuxian’s time in the Burial Mounds, due to not liking to write transformation sequences (and also because it would not be pleasant at all, which likely also applies to Wei Wuxian’s death). That doesn’t prevent it from also being intentional – MXTX’s intelligence is shown in many aspects of this book, and there’s nothing disproving it – but there’s no proof for either option, so I won’t pretend there is. I bring this up because I know this feels like I’m overanalysing, as I feel that way as well.
But, whether it’s intentional or not, it exists in the text, and I adore it – so, regardless, it’s something I’ll explore. Because taking this into account… We aren't just told about Wei Wuxian having agency, we aren’t just shown it in the text, we aren’t even just shown it through which parts of his past are shown and hidden in the structure of the text (as I talked about in Part One). The parts of the past that are shown and hidden also have an in-universe reason for being shown and hidden, this reason being the choices he makes! Agency is the ability of a character to influence the story they’re in, but Wei Wuxian’s agency, as a property of a character who only exists in-universe, shapes the out-of-universe structure as well! That’s how we’re shown its importance! How cool is that?
At The End Of The Road: Summary and Final Thoughts
In this essay, we’ve covered how important Wei Wuxian’s agency is not only to the events of the plot, but to the structure of the narrative as well. The narrative omits periods in which Wei Wuxian has little or no agency, in favour of showing us periods in which he does, even when important events happened in the former. This indicates that who Wei Wuxian is without agency isn’t important enough to be shown to the audience, and therefore that his agency is an integral aspect of his character in MDZS. We’ve discussed how both in-universe and out-of-universe, tragedy does not define him – out-of-universe, the tragic events in Wei Wuxian’s life are used not to build sympathy but rather to show his strength of character and who he still is despite going through them; and in-universe, he chooses not to focus on the negativity and resentment caused by his circumstances or others’ actions, instead staying true to his moral compass and enjoying his life in the present day. Finally, we’ve also explored how this choice is another reason for the omission of certain events from the narrative, resulting in his agency shaping the story in a very literal way – it affects the out-of-universe structure, as well.
It’s quite fitting, for a story whose essence is about defying a conventional narrative – that of righteous clans rising up and defeating a great evil – and about a character who defies many conventional narratives on his own – that of status defining how skilled you could be, that for a golden core being necessary for cultivation and other paths being unavailable, that of a tragic but complete story of someone killed for staying true to their moral code (instead, that character returns to life and has a happy ending) – to have its own narrative play a role in such an important and interesting way.
(Or, if an image would be preferable:)
Thank you for reading!

*This strong relation to the present day circumstances is another reason I love the flashback placement so much (and why I think it’s such a loss both screen adaptions altered it so strongly)!

I don’t like how the Sokeefe confession went down, because it felt so abrupt compared to the build up of the series.
I think this because the whole series it’s Keefe who’s loved Sophie since the beginning, Keefe who hinted his feelings and flirted with her, and Keefe who couldn’t confess. And it was Sophie who couldn’t figure out her feelings and was oblivious to his. So it felt strange that though Keefe technically confessed first in the letter he left, it was Sophie who initiated the actual confession.
I understand that all the build up for Sophie confessing was in Stellarlune, but it just didn’t fit with the rest of the series, and honestly, felt unfair to Keefe (from a readers stand point, I’m sure he’s very happy in cannon). He should have been the one to confess.
I’ve heard people complaining that Chapter 42 was written like a fan fiction, and I disagree with this statement for two reasons, one that I think this is supposed to be insulting the actual writing of the scene, and I would never insult Shannon Messangers writing, and two because I don’t like to spread that fanfic writing is bad because fan fiction can have some amazing writing.
However I can see the similarities to Chapter 42 and fanfiction. As an avid reader of fanfiction, a reader can tell when the fanfic author is just writing a confession as a way to get the characters to kiss, the confession may be abrupt without a lot of build up, but also may just be very easy and quick. And that’s sort of how I felt reading the Sokeefe confession. It felt too easy for all the build up and angst and unrequited but eventually requited love that is Sokeefe.
Keefe should have been the one to confess, and Sophie should of had a harder time accepting feelings instead of pining for Keefe the entirety (?) or Stellarlune, and it should have been more difficult. Also Ro shouldn’t have been peer pressuring Sophie….
….And that’s the real controversial take here. Because, I do genuinely believe Sophie likes Keefe in cannon. I’m not a big Sokeefe shipper but I saw where this was going throughout the series. However in cannon, to the reader, it looks like Ro had to convince Sophie that she liked Keefe, and even if I think she does, it still feels like peer pressure when reading it. And I think Keefe would also be disappointed if he heard that it was Ro who convinced Sophie that she like him, because it should have been Sophie battling with her own feelings, not Ro telling her how she feels (regardless of if she was correct).
If I were to rewrite the Sokeefe part of Stellarlune, I would’ve have Sophie understanding that part of the letter, but pushing down her feelings and choosing to be oblivious in order to avoid facing her feelings when she already has so much going on. Have her think about Keefe while he’s gone, and be jealous of Biana (or suspicious whatever you’d call it) in that one scene but have her obviously be falsely justifying it in order to push down those romantic feelings.
Then when she does find Keefe, make her avoid mentioning the letter at all costs. Have it hang over their heads at every moment their alone together, have it be awkward. Then, on accident have her mention the letter. Let there be a pause.
Let Keefe be a bit bitter about Sophie refusing to acknowledge anything. Have him be all like “oh so you did see the letter.”
Have Sophie still refuse to talk about it. “yeah, I guess I was so distracted with trying to find you I didn’t really think about it (lying). was there anything important in there?”
Have Keefe’s eyes turn dark “no, I guess not. (lying)” and have him rudely stalk of.
Then later have them doing something for the black swan with their friends, looking over scrolls, idk research or something.
Have Sophie be frustrated after the scrolls don’t tell them anything important. “why can’t the author of these just tell us what this means?” She should grumble
And Keefe should say “well maybe you should read between the lines to figure out what they mean.”
Sophie throws down the scroll in her hands “well maybe people should just say what they mean instead of writing it down in a way that can mean anything!!” Keefe sets down his scroll, walking off outside. No one else knows what’s going on but Sophie sighs and follows him out.
“Keefe! Wait!” She shouts. Keefe would whirl around, tears in his eyes.
“Don’t you think I’ve waited long enough?”
Sophie stares at him, surprised that he’s crying.
“I’ve waited this whole time to because I didn’t want to pressure you. But you can’t even acknowledge it.”
“Because I don’t know what “it” is! You left, and you leave me this note, and I’m just supposed to understand what it means?”
“You know what it means! Why else would I write it?”
“You wrote it because you were leaving-“
“I WROTE IT BECAUSE I LOVE YOU”
“YOU WROTE IT BECAUSE YOU THOUGHT YOU’D NEVER SEE ME AGAIN!”
Suddenly there are tears in Sophie’s eyes too. “You’re accusing me of avoiding all this but you were just as willing to! You didn’t want to confront me with your feelings so you wrote down your confession, but now you’re back and all you can do is shout it at me.”
Keefe takes a step closer, his eyes wide.
“How am I supposed to know you mean it if you don’t say it?” Sophie looks down, tugging at an eyelash.
Keefe takes another step closer, taking her hand in his. His voice is croaky and wet but each word is clear.
“Sophie Foster…I love you.”
And that’s when it all hits Sophie, because that’s everything she needed to hear and all the things she’s been stuffing down comes up and hits her all at once, and she physically stumbles into Keefe.
“Foster?” Keefe asks, catching her. Sophie looks up and makes eye contact with him.
“I think I’ve just fallen for you.” (The joke is that she actually fell over. In case it wasn’t clear.)
#kotlc#sokeefe#is- is this anti sokeefe?#I don’t think so but if anyone wants me to tag this differently or add tags just tell me and I will#also maybe I’m completely wrong about this idk#i just feel like Stellarlune made me stop shipping sokeefe#and that’s my fault but I’m also just picky#keefe sencen#sophie foster

I feel like I need to know more about Todo and Yuki’s relationship as mentor and mentee. Like they seem the same flavor of person which is very different from what gojo and megumi have going on.
But also Yuki is very adoptive “dad” coded in the way geto’s relationship to the twins is very adoptive “mom” coded.
In that Geto seems to take on primarily a caretaker role than a mentor while Yuki is more a trainer and life coach than she is a caretaker. Which is something you don’t really see given to female characters in anime.
Like Todo lives by her words and fights by her example. Everything he knows about jujutsu she taught him and Todo’s a very skilled and violent fighter and that reflects back perfectly on Yuki’s own fighting style. It’s so very anime mentor it’s insane she is just introduced to us as Todo (this absolute menace’s) teacher before anything else. I’ve never actually seen a female anime character be introduced this way.
in contrast to Geto who serves as the caring parent who was tragically taken from the girls violently and too soon and the girls wish to honor him and live how he would have wanted them too despite the ungodly situation they find themselves in. Which is such a stereotypical anime mom trope it’s almost funny. He even fits in with the still very much in love with and still speaks highly of the father that abandoned the family in hopes that the kid will one day understand and forgive them. He is essentially the mom from Full Metal Alchemist.
Gege that fucking deranged cat actually flipped the script on us and it’s so interesting which is why it’s so frustrating how little we actually end up getting off yuki when all her little scenes point to such an interestnn in character.
She is introduced as one half of a crazy dynamic that we never actually get to see put to screen and that’s such a shame. Because Yuki is such a welcome addition to the tropes of female characters we need more female “dads”
#am I making sense#somebody tell me if this makes sense#I’m half asleep writing this#not that there’s anything wrong with those moms but come on#have some pity on those mothers why are y’all always killing em off while the dead best dad gets to#thrive and be powerful?#she’s also still very feminine which is a nice m#her role in the story is just different#I just need more female kickass mentors that are also parental figures I don’t think this is too much to ask#gege when i fucking catch you#that fucking cat giving us amazing female characters and then never using them 😭#he just be spamming maki for real but atleast we get that#throwing thoughts to the void#gege akutami#jjk#justice for yuki and todo’s relationship#jujutsu kaisen#yuki tsukumo#tsukumo yuki#aoi todo#todo aoi#todo jjk#yuki jjk#geto suguru#satsugu#suguru geto#Geto jjk#I don’t even care how but the damn cat needs to bring her back#or give us another flash back or something#just expand on the complete insanity that would have been these two running the streets together

Fun little thought I thought I’d share 😋
Imagine, it’s the big showdown between Red Hood and Batman, Joker’s unconscious form slumped nearby, completely bound.
Red hood, Jason, demands that Batman kill him. That after everything he’s done, all the people he’s killed, he pleads with his dad to kill the Batman (although he’d never admit that he still loves the man as a father, not yet).
There’s some dramatic back and forth where Batman refuses and Red Hood insists pleads that Batman Bruce kill the joker, until Bruce rips off the cowl and reveals that he did!
He did kill the Joker! He wore his favorite suit and grabbed two $1000 watches and used them as brass knuckles and beat the fucker to death! He burned his body and buried the ashes outside of the goddamn Fortress of Solitude so no one would find them! He folded up the bloodied suit and boxed them with the broken watches and put them a hidden compartment in the base of Jason’s memorial in the cave, where no one would ever touch or find them! He waited until Superman was off world so he wouldn’t stop him again and told no one of what he did!
And how that ends is up to y’all. I just think that it’s interesting how there are canonically 3 Jokers (possibly more if dc changes their mind) and wouldn’t it be fun if Bruce knowingly murdered one of them only for another to pop up and make him suicidal to the point where a little Timothy Drake needs to blackmail his way into being Robin so he doesn’t kill himself?
#batfam#batman#dc#batfamily#jason todd red hood#jason todd robin#jason todd#bruce wayne#bruce wayne batman#joker dc#joker#the joker#what if Batman did kill the joker#and then another one popped up#because say what you want#make all the arguments you can#but this man canonically wanted to kill the joker and only didn’t because he had diplomatic immunity AND Superman stopped him#I don’t even think that Bruce should HAVE to kill the joker#like fans shouldn’t act like he’s obligated to#but I think he would’ve#genuinely#he got dark in those months after#it’s completely realistic to imagine that he as Bruce killed the man and didn’t tell anyone in order to separate it from Batman as much as#possible#look me in the eye and tell me I’m wrong#queue me closing my eyes because I’m not willing to take critics on this#Alfred knows but never mentions it and that’s why he hasn’t just killed the joker himself#Bruce doesn’t know he knows and it will stay that way

my jgy thoughts have been expanding and adapting and roiling and toiling etc etc etc and all of it is coming down to me affectionately marveling at this character. he’s cut-throat. he’s cunning. his kindness leaves lasting impressions. his mercy is what predates his demise. he’s one of the few cultivators who helps those in need. he will sacrifice them if it benefits him. he loved. it didn’t last. it killed him. it orchestrated his downfall. he’s a genius. he’s paranoid. he compartmentalizes. he splits the world into who he would sacrifice and who he would not. people he loves and people he would sacrifice are not mutually exclusive. he’s filial to a fault. it was all for his mother. he is a study in assimilating to survive. the results vary. he manipulates the herd mentality to his benefit. it is turned against him. he is killed for the one thing he didn’t do by the one person he wouldn’t sacrifice. it is still somehow better than what the hive-mind cultivation world would have done. i love this tragic kaleidoscope of a character.
#this was sparked out of my love for jgy#my in-the-tags hot take is that i am just increasingly bored by unironic jgy did nothing wrong takes adfksks#like the statements that he is a victim and he has done helpful things and he has done harmful things. are also not mutually exclusive!#and i think that makes him fun :]#if jgy wasn’t a little fucked up he’d be boring#like it’s /fun/ to me that imo he was overtly targeted by nmj#but nmj was also like the last like of defense before the jins completely abused their power#like! we love duality. we love contradictions#i won’t even say ‘ask me abt how jgy views the concept of hurt’ bc i’m gonna tell you!#i personally believe that he was being honest when he said lxc was the one person he didn’t want to hurt#i just also believe that he doesn’t see the things he has done#namely the use of the fucked up song of clarity#as things that would hurt lxc#bc they weren’t done /to/ him!#lxc was just a pawn in that moment#and while i believe that jgy most of the time did not. pawn-ify. lxc#by taking the song of clarity (something entrusted to him by lxc)#and using it to kill nmj (someone jgy cared abt)#that hurts lxc!#i feel embarrassed i was like ‘let u tell me u my big jgy thesis paper’ and idk if it landed#but i feel like jgy sees ‘hurt’ as what is done to you#not what happens around you

One thing about Crosshair is that he’s a remarkably intelligent man with a good read of people and situations and emotionally wrecked life decision-making skills. Dude will have some truly perceptive insight into whatever’s happening that hits on a grain of truth, and then that insight will be filtered through so many layers of trauma and cynicism that his conclusion will end up at least 90 degrees off whatever’s right.
#for instance: the end of season one#from his perspective it was completely reasonable to assume the batch just didn’t care#and that the empire would be around for a long time#and that they were too strong to fight#so the safest thing would be to just stay a part of it#and to invite the people he loved to be a part of it too#in order to protect them#like it’s still wrong because he doesn’t have all the information#and doesn’t want to think about what the empire is#but there is a rationality to it#it’s not completely unreasonable from his point of view#unreasonable is when he invites his family to the apocalypse#to sell them the world’s worst action proposal#and thinks that it will work#and not come across as the most unhinged series of things he ever says#‘you weren’t loyal to me’ <—guy has a point#‘we’re not like the regs. we never have been. we’re superior’<—Crosshair stop I don’t even think you genuinely believe that#man has never made a life choice with his thinking brain in his life#and I love that for him#he’s messy and complicated and it’s GREAT#and I’m still waiting to see him really at peace
