Some good, alot of bad, but I'm hanging in here I swear! Sorry for my absence!

With everything going on I've been really overwhelmed and also left with a lot of time to sit down and reflect/think on what I want to be doing content wise.

Obviously I love just creating, anything, art, fics, livestreams, community. But what I'm creating is also a big question mark for me right now. With how my life is going I really need to start doubling down and getting serious if I want to actually pursue it as a career. Or at least as something that I can have some sort of gain from so it takes a little bit of pressure off my everyday life and I don't have to feel guilty about pursuing haha 😅😅

It's hard. because honestly I could care less 90% of the time because just having people be happy and excited to see my works is all the exchange I ever really need or want. Bit the other 10% of the time it's me staring at other people who are making some sort of living off it and feeling depressed.

I have alot of people around me constantly pushing me forward too, telling me If I just sit down and try I could more than likely be successful. Which is great! but also added pressure because realistically I know it would mean changing my content away from Emgk. Something I have a lot of guilt at the thought of, especially now with how small the shrinking the community seems to have become. The idea of jumping ship (haha) to keep myself afloat seems horrifically wrong.

Buttttttt of course there is also a big side of me that feels tired and desperate to focus on more fandoms or my own ocs more. To spread my wings a bit and get out of my very VERY comfortable spot I've made for myself here. Other fandoms are full of very unforgiving critics or drama starters and that's intimidating to say at the least

So, it's a heavy decision I've been weighing. I know I don't have to fully abandon the ship, and honestly I doubt I could, I've kind of etched myself into the wall as one of THE emgk shippers at this point 😂 But the whole thing has had me stuck. Sitting in a sort of limbo with the content I already have in process being poked and prodded but not quite finished because I'm just not sure.

I'm rambling now like I usually do, and I'm sure it doesn't all make much sense, but ahhhh, I don't want everyone in the dark forever or worried I've disappeared of the face of the net.

To end it on a good note!!! I will say that I recently found out I'm pregnant with my second kiddo finally after a long bit of trying so! That's very exciting!! And one of the few good events to come out of late ☺️

I don’t usually share my opinions on tumblr but I thought I’d give my two cents!

So: What are my thoughts on the Yakuza Live Action TV Show??

Quick Answer:

After watching the first 3 episodes,

I don’t hate it, and I don’t think it’s bad.

I might have pretty low standards or whatever, but I did have an enjoyable time with the first 3 episodes. I think there’s a lot of silent characterization that the show gives that a lot of people don’t notice because they’re distracted by the surface level of things. I enjoy the small moments where Nishikiyama and Kiryu act like goofballs; and every moment with Majima is a treat.

The show definitely has its problems, I won’t deny that. My biggest criticisms are the obvious inaccuracies in some of the designs (but that doesn’t bother me too much), the lack of proper Kiryu screen time (Nishiki honestly feels more like the main character than Kiryu does) and the constant switching between 1995 and 2005, which makes the show a bit hard to follow.

In my opinion, the best parts of the show are undoubtedly 2005 Nishikiyama and Majima, who feel the most accurate to their source material. 2005 Nishikiyama’s introduction was phenomenal, and it was done well because it wasn’t done with a bang- it was done silently. The way he simply stands in the shadows and steps out, calling Yumi and asking to meet even though he was already there and had no intention of taking ‘no’ for an answer. That feels like Nishikiyama. It feels right.

And Majima is just hard to mess up, he’s Majima. He feels like Majima.

Overall, while it’s probably the worst piece of yakuza media ever made by RGG, I don’t think it’s necessarily bad, and I find certain aspects of it enjoyable. I’m looking forwards to the next episode.

AHSHDHEF THANK YOUUU😍🤧🥺💞 I'm so glad you liked it!! Rhysta has me in a chokehold lately and it pains me there's so little hype about it. I'm multishipper, and in most fandoms I'm in a ship like rhysta would be on top along with tamsand or feyssian, but instead this fandom is obsessed with protecting the "santity" of canon and throw shit at anyone that dares to suggest something different.

Maybe that's one of the reasons I enjoy Rhysta so much lmao, it makes people mad to see the potential and how feysand pales in comparison. Canon feysand that's it. Also, Rhysta is built for such a good and compelling dark romance if driven in the right direction. Even in canon, they give such enemies to lovers energy (sorry but nessian doesn't cut like that). I like my enemies to lovers with them being real enemies at first, and the romance being slowburn. And this kind of dynamic allows the morally grey version of rhysand to be prominent instead of the tragic hero bullshit sarah tries to shove down our throats every five pages.

You bet i'm gonna be writing more about them. I'm afraid I have no choice but continue this story after this huge inspiration.

Ok, so now that I’ve done some processing of it all, I have a question:

Do we think Aziraphale & Crowley’s combined miracle was as powerful as it was because it was them or because that’s just what happens when an angel and a demon work together?? Like, if Michael and Hastur worked together, would it have the same effect??

Cuz on the one hand, I love the idea that our boys’ love for one another makes them exponentially powerful. They love each other so much and I have a lot of emotions about it.

On the other hand, though, if it’s not about them specifically and the implication is that angels and demons are just much more powerful together, that kinda implies that Heaven and Hell were always designed to work together, not against each other, and I kinda love that idea. It would call Heaven and Hell’s entire understanding of their reason for being into question. Maybe they were always meant to be, not enemies, but two sides of the same coin.

I'm a desitiny and it was just out of ignorance. You're allowed to feel however you want to feel but let's not pretend like none of us have done things that have unintentionally offended others. Kq has already put out a statement and I'm ok with it. I don't really understand why we need to go this far when intent is an important factor to thing like this. This song is not seen negative in korea and people will sing it without thinking. I get that. But I trust they will be more thoughtful moving forward. to start, I'm sorry this whole thing happened to begin with. no one should have to feel disrespected because of their ethnicity, race, gender, etc.

I wasn't going to comment on this anymore, but i'll just say this. it's true that no one is perfect and we all make mistakes. personally, I was born and raised in my native country and much like korea, a lot of racist ideologies and mindsets were instilled in me growing up, and I most definitely have acted in a way that was unacceptable. however, gaining access to the internet and then moving to australia a couple years ago, I made friends of diverse backgrounds who taught me that certain things were not okay (usually when people were disrespectful to me and I didn't see it as such). things that I thought were just 'funny' turned out to be harmful to certain cultures/ethnicities. if I had outwardly offended someone with my behaviour, no matter what my intent was, I would've still apologized and did my best to learn from what had happened.

that being said, no one is a saint and we all make mistakes. I'm really happy (most) atiny handled the situation the way they did (by not attacking them and calling them names), and I'm glad the issue got acknowledged quickly. however, the majority of desi atinys I've seen have expressed wanting to hear from the members themselves, and putting myself in their shoes, I understand and respect that. one of my closest friends is desi and seeing her so upset over this was very difficult, and she told me that she would like to hear the members address this themselves. while I'm sure they did it out of ignorance (and not to directly mock a certain culture), desi atinys were still hurt and affected by this, and deserve the apology they want.

I'm not trying to invalidate your feelings, I respect your thoughts and I'm very glad you've gotten closure over this situation. but others haven't, and considering they're affected greatly by this, I don't think we should label their protests as an overreaction.

What is really pathetic are all the comments under that PedrixFerran TikTok on the official Barcelona account. NO ONE is really appreciating that beautiful video or the effort put into editing all the little clips or the beautiful friendship of Pedri and Ferran. Instead they all write comments like “Pedri and Gavi >>>>”, “we don’t want Ferran”, “why is Pedri so mean to Gavi”, “Pedri and Ferran 🤢🤢” and many more disgusting comments like these. I’m aware that these comments most-likely belong to teenagers or children but the obsession with Gavi and Pedri’s friendship is sometimes really concerning.

However, I’m actually certain that if that TikTok had been with Fermin and Gavi no one would have batted an eye or complained about having “Fermin and Gavi” instead of “Pedri and Gavi”. I have perceived this for a longer time period now.

I have also noticed that it's always Pedri's friends that people don't like or have a problem with. When Gavi spends time with other people, no one is angry at Gavi for "ditching" Pedri. However, when Pedri spends his time with Ferran and Eric people instantly hate on his bff's and they call Pedri a fake friend. It's like people don't want to see Pedri having other friends aside from Gavi, whereas they don't have a problem with Gavi having multiple other friends. These people are really obsessed with Gavi and only tolerate Pedri because Gavi looks happy around him. But as soon as Gavi seems down or sad they instantly hunt Pedri down and blame him for everything. Or when Gavi is not the centre of attention but instead Pedri and Ferran like in that TikTok they see red and immediately sharpen their claws.

I’m sorry for my rant but I just got incredibly sad when I saw all these hateful comments under that PedrixFerran TikTok and I just needed an outlet. And the comment of that previous anon blaming their own misconception on Pedri was the final straw for me.

Alright makes sense man. Yeah I've experienced this before- It annoys me that people always think Pedri and Gavi are like best friends forever like if you have ever once in your life watched a Barcelona training session video Pedri and Ferran are like literally glued to each other. I love their friendship; It's so sweet, and I'm glad they get along together, especially since i really like both players. Like Pedri isn't 'ditching' Gavi, Gavis a person too who has plenty of friends. I'm sure he likes Pedri and Pedri likes him but my goodness if they're not best friends in the whole wide world deal with it, people.

This is such a specific question I'm sorry feel free to ignore it but I saw your post on ocd rep and it got me thinking, do you ever hear a one off comment from a person you think has some level of authority and it becomes a rule even though you don't really understand it/believe it and its actually a dumb hill to die on? But breaking that rule is extremely upsetting and might cause bad things to happen so you have to keep following it even though it's very inconvenient for everyone involved. Is that a thing or is that normal

Oh, absolutely! I'd say that that's both normal (i.e. relatively common, especially in social justice and religious spaces) and something that is a symptom of OCD, especially with how accessible information is right now.

I was thinking of something similar earlier today, actually. I hang pride flags on my walls since they make for good, large decorations, and I thought about how I would recommend doing so to anybody. Do they like the colors and/or consider themself an ally? That's a great reason to get a flag! Of course, some folks would say that only people of a certain identity should own certain flags, much less display them, but how does one identify an identity? How would one ethically police that? "Queer culture" itself is a misnomer - people of all cultures are queer, and nothing says that only gay people are allowed to pierce one ear but not the other or w/e. "Queer culture," as it is understood in many internet spaces, is White and USAmerican-centric anyway, and building strict rules within it is counterproductive, etc etc...

I especially understand what you mean when it comes to the subject of politics. There are many politically-oriented people in my life with a range of different views, and they express those views so passionately that it can be difficult to do anything but agree. My best advice when it comes to that is to slow down and acknowledge that it's okay for different people to have different opinions, and that includes you. It's hard. It takes a long time to embrace disagreement, even over little things, and that difficulty never really goes away, but it's still important to try.

Nothing you think can be held against you, and you do not owe anybody your thoughts. If you don't agree with someone and can't disagree with them, remaining silent is a completely valid option.

Ultimately, OCD is there to help you, albeit in a misguided fashion. Maybe it wants to keep you physically safe, or socially safe, or it wants society to see you as a "good" person, or it wants to grant you a modicum of control you have been denied elsewhere in your life. Rather than refuting it directly, I often find it helpful to acknowledge my OCD, thank it for caring, and let it know that it can settle down Marie Kondo-style. It's silly, but it's harm-free and it works.

review (more like random thoughts) about to the wonder (cdrama, 8 episodes, 2024)

well, for starters, the main reason i watched the show was because of the gifs i saw on the dash (don't we all do that?). second reason being i wanted to watch cdramas. it's one of my goals for this year. i've always stuck to kdramas and i want to change that. i want to watch more dramas in general. now that it's out of the ways, let's begin the review!

👍 = what i like / 👎 = what i dislike

👍 the scenery was a such a treat for the eyes. i can only imagine how starstruck the cast must have been to shoot the scenes there. it really made me want to live there 😍

👍 the cinematography was top notch! i'm not a movie study girl but the way this drama was shot made me go wow so many times. i won't try and pretend i know the movie vocab but all i can say is it's stunning.

👍 i am so happy this drama depicted how it is like to live in a tribe/small village. everyone helping each other out without asking anything in return. everyone being so close to each other. it was heart-warming ❤️ and also how complicated it can be to choose between tradition and change.

👍 related to the previous point, i really enjoyed how the drama does not solely focus on romantic love but also on friendly love and found family. it made my heart go boom boom 💕

👍 i found this drama to be very poetic. i don't know how to explain it in a way that's understandable for as many people as possible but the choices made to depict/say certain things were so well chosen. this drama was poetry in motion.

👎 lots of things that didn't make any sense to me. especially on the romance part. i think the way they brought wen xiu and batay's love story was a little rushed and i couldn't get into the romance. i know this drama is only 8 episodes long but please, if you want to introduce a love story, do a better job at it.

👎 another romance that did not make any sense AT ALL (yes the caps are necessary) was feng xia and xiao liang. i know that after the whole baking soda box incident, feng xia has become more vulnerable than before but girl! how can you fall in love with a man you just met twenty hours ago? doesn't make sense at all! and then she goes on to defend him and not believe people she's known longer than him? PLEASE!!! but i was happy when she got her revenge on him ehe poetic justice as i like to call it :)

👎 i'm sorry but wen xiu got on my nerves way too many times. i've tried seeing things from her point of view. i know she's only 19 ~ 20 but many of her actions and words did not sit right with me. she's shown growth in the last two episodes so that's nice to see.

overall, i'm giving it a 5/10. the romance did take out a lot of points :/ and yes, i do know i listed more things that i liked rather than disliked but really, i'm not a big fan of romance in general. but when you add romance that doesn't make any sense (to me), then the joy i get from watching the show diminishes 💔

But by fact checking people and it puts them in their place. People feel intimidated by your knowledge, and are especially drawn in by the banter you provide. emmi that is so so kind of you. secretly I'm actually a huge bitch but I'm only allowed to be bitchy sometimes as a treat. it's so easy to be nice to you actually you are so chill and funny and epic and friendly and you don't make kind interactions difficult at all.

also you are 300% still allowed to have thoughts and opinions near me I prommy. you may be white and european but you're a person with perspectives and experiences that are just as real as anyone else's. like just don't be combative with or try to talk over poc about poc topics and you're literally fine. you have a limited perspective on certain issues but so does literally everyone else on earth. tbh within any axis of privilege/oppression, the culture of Any Person With Privilege I Don't Have Is Inherently Actively Oppressing Me And Needs To Shut Up Forever can be cathartic for disadvantaged people but ultimately leads to a lot of social regression in the long run. unpacking and disassembling systems of oppression can only be effectively accomplished as a dialogue, not a TED Talk.
