As you know, I loooooove period costumes and armor and all that, so I’m flat out looking for an excuse for David to wear Stephen’s Stannis gear.
My current idea is that he just… LARPs with his mates on some weekends.
Does it make sense for David to have proper armor and gear? Not really. Do I care about it too much? Not really.

Thinking about David and how he always places himself to someone’s left, so his right ear is facing them.
David’s hearing loss stems from car accident a few years ago. It was a relatively minor fender bender, some guy’d just hit his brakes without much warning, but the impact of the airbag caused his left eardrum to burst. It lead to an inner ear infection, and that’s what actually caused him to lose his hearing.
It’s hard to quantify the exact degree of hearing loss he deals with, but it’s enough that you could shout into his ear and he wouldn’t hear it, provided his good ear was plugged.
He’s supposed to wear a hearing aid, but he sometimes forgets. It makes him feel old, even though it came from an accident.

Hey do you guys remember when you could block someone that sent an anonymous message, and then the person’s blog would be in your blocked list?
I think they should bring that back.

tags on that post not a joke btw, i think receding hairlines, bald spots, and other forms of male pattern baldness are very endearing on a guy

A not so quick, very messy little write up about David, his ex wife Helena, and their daughter Alexis.
So, something that roleplayers often do is pick a face claim to represent their character. It’s kind of like fan casting for a book adaptation and as you probably know, I’ve picked Stephen Dillane to represent David. He’s closest to Stephen from series 1 of The Tunnel in both age and appearance, for the sake of logistics.
David is 57 years old, Helena is 52, and Alexis is 12.
David and Helena had been married for just over five years when they were shocked with news of a pregnancy. It had been a very big, but very happy surprise, and the two would stay together for five more years.
Helena had been the one to ask for a divorce. She’d confessed to falling out of love with David, and to her growing feelings for another man. It’s important to note that she did not act on these feelings, though. She just knew that their presence meant that their relationship had ran its course.
David was heartbroken, but he understood. The split was relatively amicable, and they agreed on a joint custody agreement. One week with mum, one week with dad, alternating holidays and weekends.
Alexis is very much a daddy’s girl, and the feeling is mutual. She’s the reason David bothers dragging himself out of bed and down to his dead end job. Her visits are the highlights of his life.
Finances are a big source of stress in his life, though. David isn’t exactly dead broke, but he’s not far from it. He’s the type of parent that will do without for the sake of his child, though. Like, he’s put off buying a new mattress for years but his daughter has always had new clothes, school supplies, and toys. He’s happy to do it for her.
His ex doesn’t bleed him dry or anything. She pays her part, and then some. She’s actually in a moderately better financial position than David, and frequently offers to cover things for him, but he refuses unless he absolutely has to. It’s a point of pride, you know? Like, what kind of father can’t get his daughter new books for school?
The one time he’s let her pay for something was the Christmas after he’d lost hearing in his left ear. Money was especially tight with medical bills, and he just flat out couldn’t afford to pay rent and buy presents. Helena had bought a few extra gifts and said they were from him.
David remembers crying like a baby on his sofa that night, feeling like the world’s worst father.
