okay, so . the IOUs zam owes from last season:

initially, they were offered to reddoons, squiddo, 4c, and spep in exchange for their blessings/curses in the "a deal with the princezam" stream and the "deals deals deals!" stream. around this time, zam supposedly gave these same offers, while off stream, to pangi, jaron, and terrain as well.

woogie was then later offered 1 IOU when zam first revealed that he was playing on pangi's account, requesting that he didn't tell anyone about it. after that, the only other deal made that i could find was to leo for his login info on the final day.

out of all of those deals, only 5 accepted and actually completed their end of the deal. those being red, pangi, woogie, spep, and leo. red and spep's offers were bumped from 1 IOU to 3 during negotiations. however due to spep betraying during the big pb&j vs. playersTM fight, spep’s was lowered back down to 1. pangi's was done off stream but purely based on context i assume it's only 1 IOU? (or they traded login info ? idk it's one of the two).

during the finale, zam also mentioned that he offered 2 more IOUs to red if he logged on immediately to curse jumper with glowing (1:23:27 in "the finale day" roshambo vod (may 25th)) . yea .

so, from what i can gather: zam owes reddoons something between 3-5 IOUs, spep 1, pangi 1, woogie 1, and leo 1.

Frustrating when a VC-funded company gets credit for being the "first" and the "leader," when they had a sub-component demo the same week we had a full-system demo. Like, we are easily 5-10 years ahead of them, it's ridiculous; their approach isn't even yet proven to work. But they get science youtubers talking about them.

Because they're VC-funded, they have a marketing/press department.

And because we're an employee-owned company working off of government contracts, well, most government contracts get slapped with an ITAR label (an old Cold-War-era law saying basically sharing scientific information counts as illegally selling arms/munitions). So if you want to publicize your work, including your company's products, you have to appeal that label. (Universities have specifically negotiated a blanket exemption, so if you spend your whole life in academic science you might never even know about this.)

(My previous employer filed those appeals several times a year in order to do press releases and publish journal articles and apply for patents. I think every single information-release appeal they filed went through, because there's no reason any of this stuff should be labeled as arms--it's literally the same stuff universities are doing. My current employer is afraid to, which I think is wrong-headed; at worst they'll just say no, and anyway, our non-restricted competitors are giving fucking lab tours to youtubers.)

Welp, I think it’s time for some brain rot don’t you?

So, I noticed in my rewatching, I think awhile ago but I kinda forgot about it until recently, something interesting. After prison, most notably right after with Punz, Dream mentions an island -

[5:35] Dream: “I would have had us go to the island to be fair but I just thought it’s a little too far so…”

And like, what? What island? Do they have a secret island? Is that where the lab is? Is that where Dream’s house is? Has anyone else picked up on this line, like am I crazy or did he just mention a staged duo hideout?!

Then in Daedalus he mentions going to an island again, this time saying ‘metaphorically’ -

[12:30] Dream: “I was you know on an island you could say.”

Sam: “On an island?”

Dream: “Well yeah just you know—metaphorically”

Sam: “What—what? What island were you on?”

Dream: “I wasn’t actually on an island. I was just metaphorically I was on an island but.”

Which… what does that even mean? And why would he tell Sam that?… Unless he didn’t mean to answer Sam but did out of ya know… habit and then had to cover up by saying it’s metaphorical so Sam doesn’t go out looking for the island. I mean like, otherwise why mention a metaphorical island in the first place and then fail to go into it any further?… like… Dream, what island?!

i got some items that were on wishlist due to the ag summer sale!

favs: maryellen’s model rocket kit (so cute!! and it works?!!!), courtney’s shirt and tie (it’s actually super soft and nice and the tie is easily removed. and the buttons are real!), and gwynn’s skating outfit (the material of the main outfit is super lovely and soft, and the tiny skates are adorable)

i am only disappointed in two things: the bottoms of claudie’s tap shoes are plastic for some reason 😭, and the guards for gwynn’s skates will NOT stay on lol
