Just spreading some love after a really long, mentally exhausting day and wanted to give a plug to one of my absolute favorite charities, One Simple Wish!
One Simple Wish is an organization in which foster groups and parents and related organizations can post wishes for kids currently in the foster program. The wishes can be anything from toys and games to clothes to electronics needed for job or school or even decorations for a bedroom to make them feel more at home. Wishes can range from $10 all the way up to $500 and there’s a wide range of ways to sort to see if there’s any kid in your state or to grant an older wish that’s been on the site for a while.
I don’t generally post about donations I make because I think the best acts of service are the ones that go unreported, but I also understand feeling inspired when you see active kindness. For those who do not know, the vast majority of all of the earnings on my Patreon each month go towards different charity organizations, which I list in the about page on my Patreon. I believe in trying to put a little good back in the world and trying to make it a little brighter for someone else. So just know that if you ever choose us subscribe to my Patreon account, you’re helping me help others! 🧡🥰
If this inspires you to make a donation to your own favorite charity or to check out One Simple Wish, feel free to comment below or share your favorite organization or what item you donated to an awesome foster kid!

Giving to Kids in the Foster Care System
We all know that the foster care system in the U.S. is broken. Most of us can't do much about it.
However, there's an organization that lets you buy gifts for kids in the foster system or adults who recently aged out.
In foster care, a lot if kids don't get the same types of gifts or assistance kids outside of the system get. So One Simple Wish lists wishes these kids and adults have.
Some might be cheap, as simple as a book. Others might be more expensive, like a laptop for someone going into college. And if you don't see a wish that meets the amount you can give, you can donate to a general fund.
I really encourage anyone who can afford to give to donate to One Simple Wish.

Reddit does this thing where they try to crash a charity site by donating too much once a year
TL;DR: here's a super cool charity that gives gifts to foster kids, donate if you can or reblog to signal boost.
The charity is One Simple Wish, where you send money to pay for things for kids in foster care. There are over 500 thousand kids in foster care each year just in the United States, and 22 thousand of those kids will age out alone without stable conditions and with little resources and knowledge to survive.
One Simple Wish helps by allowing you to grant a wish for a foster kid or former foster youth, which could be anything from a new pair of shoes for Christmas to helping former foster youth stock their pantries to bed frames and bikes. And you get to leave them a note that shows how much you care. A lot of these are expensive though, so you also have the option of donating any amount of money you're able to directly to the charity.
Are we going to let Reddit be better at this than us? Sure, we can be known as the site that creates a fandom for a nonexistent movie. That's awesome, and I love it. But we could also be known as the site that was better than reddit at breaking this charity's website by donating so much their servers were overloaded.
This doesn't mean we have to grant every wish possible and spend hundreds of dollars each. If we all rally together, giving whatever we can, even if that's only two or three dollars for you, we can do this. And if you can't give anything, that's fine, too. Reblog and boost this post. Tell your friends. Spread the word.
Most of these kids just want something special for Christmas because they don't have much. Can we help them get that?
And if for whatever reason, you don't want to donate to them, my next reccomendation is @sharonsaysso on insta. She's holding her holiday giving drive, where her followers have donated over 500 thousand dollars to help people in need over the past few days. Her community over there is wonderful, too. Her drive is only lasting a few more days, though, so you have to donate fast for hers.
So what do you say guys? Can we work together one step at a time to make the world a little bit better (and to beat reddit at this)? Click here to go donate or grant a wish.
If you do end up donating, feel free to reblog this or make your own post and tag me, so we can all celebrate each other's contributions, no matter how big or small. So far, I've granted a $100 wish for a kid named Haley to get a hoverboard for Christmas and $50 a few days ago for Sharon.

hiiiiiii friends! i generally don't share posts like these but as someone who works with at risk queer kids i really wanted to draw attention to this especially during the holiday season.
queer and lgbtqia kids are particularly vulnerable in the united states right now; many queer kids end up homeless or in foster care. i heard about this program thru some organizations i work with and have donated myself. it allows folks to anonymously donate or purchase necessary items of all types for kids and young adults who are or were in foster care or a recent crisis. you might have heard of them cause reddit crashed their website last year with all the donations they gave.
i hope you all have a happy holiday season 💜

GREETINGS HUMANS
This wonderful wintery season, consider donating to or using onesimplewish.org!
Although it is based in the US, it helps grant wishes to people with no or little/poor family and gives them what they normally would never be able to have. There are many, many wishes you can fulfill for people in need, from infant age to 50, for as little or as much money you're willing to spend — there are things as little as $5 and as much as $500! Some are time-sensitive and there are many filters if you want it to feel more personal. I just granted one wish that was only $12USD and donated $15USD.
If you can, donate! It's a great way to celebrate the ending of the worn year and the beginning of the new.

Heard of a new charity: https://www.onesimplewish.org/
It grants children in foster care or who have experienced trauma wishes (or gifts). You can donate just a set amount of money or pay for a whole wish.

(ID: Kirby series fanart of King Dedede and Meta Knight leaping up together in triumph, the former alight with boisterous laughter, the latter heroic and graceful, his great wings framing the two of them as they rise, their hands clasped, their weapons - the Star Rod Hammer for DDD, Galaxia for MK - held aloft in a flurry of bright stars and crackling lightning respectively. the worst parent poll made me realize just how many ppl in the fandom are willing to jump straight into abuse apologia. bc on one hand you have ppl dumbing down crow's abuse to "him just being mean" and on the other end you have ppl saying that curlfeather didnt abuse frostpaw because she sacrificed herself and frost + her siblings love her so she couldnt possibly be an abuser. truly mindboggling stuff take these serious topics away from the fandom asap.
Part of me feels like it's because many in this fandom have a feeling that if a character's actions are abusive, it means you're "not allowed" to like them. Like there's an impulse where if you liked a character, it MUST mean they weren't THAT bad, because you'd personally never like "an abuser."
As if it reflects poorly on your own morality, as a person, that you connected with An Abuser. Understood them, even. Even if it was just a character.
If it's immoral to Like Abusive Characters, of course your reaction is going to end up being abuse apologia. To enjoy something isn't logical, it's emotional, so you will get defensive about it when questioned. When you do, it's not going to be based on logic because you didn't reason yourself into that position in the first place. It's an attack on you as a person.
I feel like that's often the root of abuse apologia in this fandom, and sometimes the world at large; "If I admit that this character/person IS abusive, it means I was doing something bad by liking them, so I have to prove to everyone else that they weren't or it means I'm bad too."
And to that I say... That's a BAD impulse! Grow up and admit you resonated with a character that did a bad thing! If that's an uncomfortable thought, sit with it!
Sometimes abusers are likeable! They usually DO think they're justified in their actions, or doing it for "a good reason," or were just too preoccupied to care. MOST of the time, people who commit abusive actions are also hurt or traumatized in some way. You might even empathize with them. None of this means their actions have to be excused or downplayed.
"Abusers" aren't a type of goddamn yokai, they're people just like you and me. You don't help victims of abuse by putting the people who hurt us in an "untouchable" category.
In fact, all it does is make you less likely to recognize your own controlling behavior. You're capable of abuse. People you love are capable of it, too. People who love YOU can still hurt you.
In spite of how often people regurgitate "It's Ok To Like A Character As Long As You're Critical Of Their Actions," every day it is proven to me further and further that no one who says it actually understands what that means.
All that said; I think it's no contest which one's a worse parent, imo.
They both mistreated their children, but Curlfeather did it through manipulation without verbal or physical abuse. She politically groomed her into a position of power so that she could use her as a pawn. It can be argued if this counts as child abuse-- but it's firmly still under the broad category childhood maltreatment, which is damaging.
(though anon I'm with you 100% at seeing RED when "but she sacrificed herself" is used as an excuse. Curlfeather's death does NOT CHANGE what she did to Frostpaw in life. I think it's a valid point to bring up when comparing her to another terrible parent for judgement purposes, such as in the context of this poll, but I really hate the implication that redemption deaths "make up" for maltreatment.)
Crowfeather, meanwhile, is textually responsible for putting Breezepaw through verbal AND physical abuse, as well as child neglect. His motivations include embarrassment from a hurt ego, revenge on his ex, and being sad because of a dead girlfriend. This abuse drives Breezepelt towards radicalization in the Dark Forest.
You could argue Curlfeather is a worse person for Reedwhisker's murder, but as a parent? It's not even a question to me. Crowfeather's one of the worst dads in WC.

One Simple Wish Lets You Fulfill One Wish for a Foster Kid
Foster kids go without a lot of the treats and support other kids get. One Simple Wish lets people donate to fulfill a foster kid's wish.
Some wishes are big (like a laptop), while others are small (like a beach towel).

Bethesda needs to bring back elder scrolls games taking place over multiple years. I'm sorry, but I genuinely don't think that the Oblivion Crisis and all the Oblivion DLCs happened in 4 months.
And don't get me started on the fact that every event in ESO happens in the same year.
