Doodlebugs
Within my Figures Of Speech 2.0 fine art exhibit which opens Oct 3 and continues throughout October at the Caplan Art Designs Gallery I have a sub-exhibit that I’ve titled “Doodlebugs”. It contains a sculpture, several framed paintings and a printed book. With my sculpture I refer, visually, to science museum displays because the scientific study of various species and how their varieties enrich…

(Mainly leaving this here for storage per usual!! Don't mind it too much) (Do not worry Fake Peppino is okie. The grab is firm but not with intent to harm)
(The words at the last image btw are "that is enough")
#mainly made this set of interactions bc i wanted to orchestrate Piepoe Social Uncomfort Levels#with some signs she exhibits when particularly getting overwhelmed! :3#dw tho theyre both fine. im sure piepoe lets fake peppino continue to be silly if he doesnt cause any harm and such!!! ^^#wouldve attached this to the big piepoe reblog post but like. its too big already this might just be a new one for now :>!!#Piepoe arts#this also was just an excuse to draw fake peppino not knowing the Concept of Personal Space whatsoever <:]

There is gonna be more than that coming from the poll, but whatever it is vote Kacchan/Deku for best hero. Idc who wins i just need them to be together again
if they just announced it today without saying anything before, I would probably immediately do it.
Right now im just bitter because of the hype -I thought it would at least slightly relate to the actual story (adaptations of other stories, extra content for the volume which once again may I remind everyone is extremely short, almost half what a manga volume usually looks which is a huge problem).
This disappointed me extremely, as its not even related to any content from the manga beyond the characters it uses. I get that many ppl will work on this, and that artist will get excited over being able to get the spotlight, some will be able to ask specific questions, and a character will get a statue and a movie.
Still extremely disappointed because of the "special project will be announced on the 5th *wink wink*".
I can't feel excitement over it as, in my mind, I lost something that felt better -more content related to the story. So at best this would be "oh cool I can try it", a feeling pretty similar to the other announcements -not my favorite thing in the world, but I wont reject it and try to see what comes out of it.
This isnt at best to me right now
#grrr talking#grrr being a hater#literally one of the special things was already announced -the fan book#bc im feeling negative I will say negative stuff here so beware#as far as I saw the fan book is a way of getting another product without paying artists#and days before we already knew it would happen#the statue thing feels like the art exhibition like okay thats cool still doesnt compare to more stories like at all#and I will never see any of that in person ever so why would I get extra happy about that?#I know this is an homage so we can feel like we are closer to their world and all but the statues have a bad connotation there#vote so we can see the protagonist and the deuteragonist in a movie#im sorry why do we need to massively vote so they get content? they are literally the most important characters#and what would even be the movie about? For all I know they could do whatever they wanted with the characters#a movie based on who the most popular character is... great. unless passionate ppl are involved in the project it doesnt sound like a good#a good story could come out of it#as its based on who is most popular among voters not an actual story the characters need#so unless 278 characters already have backstories and stuff planned that would get explored in a movie#i dont trust what they could do with this#and I dont want to give them my hope. They didnt need to make an announcement for the announcement#that only has made me feel super bitter#will I get over it later in the day? probably#I still want to express myself#the only thing in my mind about using this opportunity is still bitter lmao#just asking why didnt you make them hold hands#because I can try to justify it with my own theories#but that doesnt mean anything now does it

Spending these Christmas/New Year’s days of madness in Manhattan. I actually like the crowds lol (now that I don’t live here). Midtown is mayhem of course: Saks Fifth Avenue, Rockefeller Plaza, Bryant Park winter village and Times Square are complete 1 mile per hour pedestrian gridlock, and god help anyone who attempts to drive through there, but above 60th and below 34th things are pretty normal.
It’s also always a good time to scope out fic locations for canon set largely in NYC 😏
I still want a Vought Christmas special to happen in-show
#personal#new york city#I’ve seen several shows#one of which was criminally cheap for a 1 man performance of A Christmas Carol and was so fucking good and poorly attended 😩#pro tip: free exhibits#911 museum free on mondays#Jewish museum free on saturdays#by public library always free and has a very cool exhibit#national arts club at gramercy park always free#travel

things all y'all missed out on by not being in one particular discord server with me: me judging the hell out of the milwaukee art museum
#personal#the milwaukee art museum is not really especially bad#it's just#y'all know that one post about how art museums are shit at providing context#and actually educating visitors?#yeah that#about half of the pieces didn't have descriptions beyond artist/title/date/how it got here#(that last one being like. purchased? lent out? etc.)#all of them should have descriptions!#and the choices of which ones had descriptions were really arbitrary too#like the one with a detailed description of how the artist visited spain and liked spain and matadors#it's titled El Matador. it shows a matador. if you need to skimp on some descriptions i'd pick that one#meanwhile abstract art is just out there with no context at all half the time#this is why people hate abstract art#ALSO. not nearly enough benches/chairs there#and only a couple on the second floor had actual backs#a whole-ass exhibit about modern furniture included lots of chairs as exhibits but none to sit on#this isn't just milwaukee art museum of course. but it's the art museum i happened to visit today#do better art museums

[head in hands] oh my god. my grandpa's encyclopaedic and loving obsession with various microvarieties of crosses as a symbol across christian works is, like, definitely an asd thing isn't it
#he did this wood inlay art for decades while his hands were good and its all over their apartment#ive had a 20-odd page word document from him on my hard drive for agesssss with just photos of crosses across kyiv et al#he has never exhibited it and Literally No One In Our Family Has the Fucking Inclination To Put Together An ExhibiTion. I WONDER WHYYYYYY#personal#my art#<- my GRANDPA's art i just want it categorised somewhere#its crazy how much of this veneer inlay art there is in that one flat in kyiv. he's so talented#we should do something with it honestly like put on an exhibit while he's with us here

genuinely someone needs to make a like 'how to spot orientalism in art' post for yalls aesthetic blogs im getting so sick !!! im not an expert on either art or orientalism but something that's usually easy to spot in portraits of women is the a voyeuristic gaze of the invisible white man peeking into imagined private women's spaces. the women are both sexualised and veiled, relaxed and unobserved yet they perform for an unseen gaze.
quick example from what was put on my dash today;
see how theyre in what appears to be a private courtyard with lots of women around. they're taking off shoes, chatting, resting, removing veils, to show that this is a private space that is forbidden to you, the european male observer. they're veiled, their clothing is all designed to obscure their bodies completely, but the woman on the right is gazing directly at you and seductively exposing herself for you. the painting is doing everything it can to show that you shouldn't be here, that your gaze is unwelcome, that these women are vulnerable and letting their guards down, and yet that they crave it, they're unwittingly soliciting it and always performing for it, because of their hidden desire for you to see through their modesty. their veils are no longer a cultural garment but something donned explicitly to tempt you, to indicate the exoticism and carnality of what lies beneath.
i'm not telling you how you can and can't interact with this art, i just think it's very important to be aware of what power dynamics are at play in images like these and what real life ideas they perpetuated - and continue to perpetuate - against real life colonised women.
#this is why to this day u always see character designs that are a character w a veil + skimpy clothing#even though that makes no sense#the way the woman on the right frames the women and girl on the left makes it so much creepier than if it was just either painting separate#theres this one visual art piece ive losttttt but its like an orientalist harem painting thats like reanimated to lay the fantasies bare#and at the same time to show the women actually just like having personal lives and getting about their daily activities#it was so good and i cant find it -_-#like it was exhibited but there was a video of it online#anyway this is one trait of many but i feel like its the most obvious to look for#and im not saying u cant look at it but at least be aware that this is basically the visual representation of a colonial rape fantasy

Eggheads forum
As I’ve worked on my Eggheads sculpture – hand painting heads on 12 solid wood eggs and bodies on 12 solid wood egg cups – I thought about how smart people are as essential to society as a eggs are to a working kitchen. In the background of my thinking was a question of how to display my finished 24 piece sculpture. My one-person exhibit at the Caplan Art Designs Gallery opens Oct 3 and the…

#borger#sorry the photo quality is kinda shit#from an interactive art exhibit w/ several questionnaires with other people's responses at seattle art museum#the interactive exhibit thing also showed people's photos taken at the booth but i didn't want to put this guy's face#out there without permission or a name. dude was asian tho heheh#another one I really liked was in Chinese: 'what do you like about American cuisine?' and the person had a really snarky answer insinuating#that the question was putting words in their mouth. lmao#hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I can't believe this was sitting my drafts for MONTHS

✨🎥 here! I’ve summon by the recent discourse. Every time that someone thinks that k-pop (or any other artistic medium) is non-collaborative a kitty dies 💀💀💀 People don’t realize the stupid amount of time that takes to do the most mundane shit in regards with that. It is impossible to do it all by yourself. Like, in medieval times artists would spend 2-3 years working on a single project and that would be a pretty good estimate if idols had to do everything by themselves.
PS: So funny you got a rec about Arca as I’m trying to contact her management to propose a collaboration for a movie than I’m working on
omg hello friend how are you!!!! i know we need people to stop killing kitties bc it's getting ridiculous.... it truly is impossible to do anything of that scale on your own like i did a live installation/performance a couple years ago where i wrote the script/did all the design and even though i had a director and seven actors it still took me MONTHS to finish everything. there's NO way an idol could do a project of any remotely cb-sized scale on their own without help and the help should be acknowledged!! it's good to work collaboratively!!!
also omg hello???? what a fucking coincidence and also that sounds fucking COOL
#i did the sfx and costume for ONE person for a short film in 2021 and it took me a MONTH just to make the fucking prosthetics#it was a half body pros tho so i guess i did make that pretty quick comparatively#i'm currently doing script work for my friend's new project about the jeju uprising and we're not starting actual production until...may?#have to wait for funding apps and a bunch of other organizational stuff. oh maybe we're starting in april bc the exhibition is in june#but also i've been dramaturging the film with him for the last like...two months already? making art takes so much fucking TIME#text#answers#✨🎥 anon
