Helluva Boss Season 2 trailer break down: Pt 4 Mastermind!

The C.H.E.R.U.B.'s and D.H.O.R.K's are back bitches!

These two shots seem to be fairly face value. The C.H.E.R.U.B.'s have been stuck on earth since we saw them last, and apparently have been spending their time trying to find I.M.P. and settle the score. They are captured by the D.H.O.R.K.S, the two realizing they have a common enemy team up.

Also notable is that the portal Blitzø is peaking his head out of is that of an Asmodian crystal. Meaning he did accept it from Stolas.

I think these four shots are a direct sequence of the crew porting back to the office after a successful hit, only for another portal that the D.H.O.R.K.S and C.H.E.R.U.B.'s have developed to be able to traverse to hell, presumably to capture the main crew.

(they are Stolas' grimore to portal in the first shot. Which is kinda weird to me if Blitzø has the crystal.)

I said previously in my post on Apology Tour that I think these two sequences are most likely in Mastermind. I believe what we are seeing is Blitzø being held, and either him having another nightmare sequence, or the D.H.O.R.K.S have somehow found a way to extract his memories, and are forcing him to re-watch some of the worst parts of his life.

Regardless as to why Blitzø is seeing these, its very interesting with a few. We were lead to believe in Oops that when the accident happened Blitzø didn't see Fizzarolli crawling towards him, the first frame suggests he did see him, but chose to still run to his moms tent to try to help her.

The next is the first time we've seen anything of Fizz during the 15 years between the accident and Ozzie's. This is almost directly directly post accident, we see Cash stopping Blitzø from going to see Fizz. Confirming the popular belief that Cash was the one to come between and lie to Blitzø and Fizz (father of the fucking year right here)

The next two frames are Blitzø's perspective of Fizzarolli and Veronika from Ozzie's.

We have another flashback, this one not seen through the screen though a screen like the others. Blitzø is crying while Tilla holds him, hes wearing the same outfit as we see him in the night of the accident. I have 3 theories on what this is.

The least likely in my opinion: This is a flashback to that night, before the accident, Blitzø confiding in her that he planned to confess to Fizz that night

This is when Tilla told him how sick she was and explaining that she probably didn't have much time left.

But my personal belief is that this is not really a flashback at all, this is a dreamlike scene where Blitzø is taken back to being a teen and sees her again. She comforts him and tells him that she is proud of how he has grown, and encourages him that he needs to work to escape and save his family from the situation they are in.

Another shots that are tricky to me, I have a strong feeling these two are connected, but not completely sure where they fit. This is honestly kinda a process of elimination guess for me.

I want to included these two clips from the Hells Belles short which reference the C.H.E.R.U.B.s episode, i assume as a hint to them coming back soon.

Sonic and Infinite are so fucking GRAUGHHHHHHHH I want. To study them in a lab. I don’t know how to convey the emotions I feel for this dog and hedgehog so please bare with me

Before I start my bs I just wanted to say this post actually goes out to @neurotypical-sonic and uh @beloved-user (and maybe a few other people but those were the only 2 that I saw had said anything at the time of writing this) because they wanted to see this content in the world so shoutout to them for giving me the courage to post about these cringe fail mobians (I am the sonic and infinite psychoanalysis anon btw)

there’s so much under the cut please be careful also please be nice it’s 2 am and I’m very emotionally fragile

The fact that sonic and infinite are 2 sides of the same coin yet also thematic foils to each other is just sending me over the deep end I can’t take it ARGHHHHHHH (I am willingly taking it)

You’re probably asking “what the actual fuck are you going on about dude” and to this I raise you all of this entire post (you’re gonna regret asking)

A few things before I start, this is obviously gonna be Forces bullshit because I Bear The Curse™️also I’m only gonna be talking about the English version of the game because sadly I have not been able to play or see the japanese dub yet, I’ll do that later though

Also if there’s photos with shit quality, sorry, that’s on me

Ok autism activated let’s go

Let’s start with our obvious main man Sonic, the blue blur. I’m gonna start with something that irked a lot of people, and that is the fact that Sonic seemingly came out fine after being tortured for 6 months.

The thing is, he was absolutely not fine, at all, it was just so subtle that it was genuinely hard to tell, but once you notice, you continue to notice. The first thing you can see is that he is acting a lot more brutal I guess I could say???

I mean, look at the end of the Zavok fight, he beats the ever loving shit out of Zavok with his hands, not a few homing attack or spin dashes, his fucking hands, I don’t know how often that happens outside of games where the actual gimmick is hand to hand combat, but it seems pretty weird to me how he just keeps hitting Zavok and he just stares at him as he falls, panting and out of breath from how relentlessly he was attacking him

Second, he’s constantly talking about how he wants and will get revenge for what happened, he doesn’t let up that he’s going to get revenge, and I was actually kind of shocked when he started saying that I was kinda like “woah calm down buddy” (note, one of these screenshots is from the wiki because I couldn’t get the image from the game, also, these 2 are just from the cutscenes I could find, there’s so much more, this hog can hold so much malice and rage)

Third? Now this one is my favorite to talk about, because it really shows just how drastic Sonic and Infinite really are, the scene it occurs in is during the infinite fight with sonic and the avatar character, during the first stage where it’s just sonic

You may say “ok what’s special about the reskinned metal sonic fight?” sarcastically but this is a very important fact to me, and the fact is that Sonic just straight up implies to Infinite’s face that he’s gonna murder him!

The line he says is played off as a kinda joke, but the way Sonic says it is so genuine that it’s a little bit disturbing, it’s a fridge horror kind of moment where you look at the line, maybe giggle, but after a quick google you realize just how fucked the line is because of the inclusion of one word, one single word.

The word being “Epitaph.” An Epitaph being the phrase or words written on someone’s tombstone in memory of them.

Now, you may know what line I’m referring to if you’re like me and reply that fight alot, but if you don’t know the line that’s fine, I’m gonna explain it either way because it’s very important to me!

So the fight starts and the first lines said are these;

Infinite: What would you like your epitaph to read? How about “Here lies the blue buffoon”?

Sonic: Why not “Here dozes the masked clown”? Might as well make it for the person who needs one, right?

I think you can see where I’m going with this point, let’s move on now to the other point I wanted to make, which is also kind of a major tone shift from the point above

This point ties in with the “2 sides of the same coin” bit, but the point I want to make is that Sonic needed companionship to win. (Take a drink of water every time I write the word “companionship” or anything similar starting now, see how hydrated you get)

He needed the avatar character to support him throughout that fight, he needed the avatar & classic to help him defeat the eggman and ruby as well, he needed companionship.

This theme of him needing support and a companion is echoed through the very song that is the theme of forces, I am, of course, referring to Fistbump

AGGHHHH I LOVE FISTBUMP SO MUCH IT’S SO GOOD THEMATICALLY AND IT’S ALSO JUST A GOOD SONGi want you to know I’m snarling and biting and growling like a rabid animal but in a good way I’m sorry I just needed to say that real quick back to the point I was trying to make

Now, the first indication that Sonic needs companionship is that Fistbump is literally him “speaking” to the avatar character, the lyrics portray this perfectly, but I am going to stop myself before I go on a tangent about this song for too long, so next um dot point

The second indication he needs companionship using Fistbump is that it plays whenever he double boosts with the Avatar and during the level Null Space, the double boost is self explanatory, it’s them working together, they’re being friendly friends!

What people may not completely get is me bringing up Null Space, because, once again, there’s seemingly nothing special but there is. There is to me. In my heart. I love Null Space as well as the other stuff mentioned here because it ties into this insane bs I’m concocting for my viewing pleasure that just so happens to get to be on tumblr too!!

Null Space is a level where Infinite sends Sonic and, accidentally, the Avatar character to the level’s namesake, Null Space. Null Space is devoid of substance or life, it is the loneliest place you could ever be, but here Sonic and the Avatar are, the complete antithesis of such a concept, they are together, they are safe with each other, they are going to get out of there together.

And so they escape, and what is playing in the background as they do so? A version of Fistbump dedicated specifically to that level.

Before I can make the rest of my points, we have to talk about the elephant, er… jackal, in the room; Infinite.

Let’s start with a general thingy like we did with sonic, now, I’m not gonna go over his actions in game, they speak for themselves, I will, however, be talking about the implications of his actions; his morals, his values, all of that

First off let’s collectively discuss and by discuss I mean go ‘what the actual fuck is wrong with this dude’

It’s very clear that he’s just not a “good” person, he does morally frowned upon things like being a mercenary, of course, that’s one of the big ones, but the one that really fucks with me and makes me really wanna pick his brain is that despite Shadow being the one who hurt him, he immediately clicks to Sonic and the best way I can describe it is him going “i NEED to beat the ever loving shit out of that kid right now.”

Like, even during Episode Shadow, he still mentions Sonic with this personal malice that you don’t expect, stating that Sonic won’t be able to stop him, and it’s honestly just kind of weird tbh???

So he hates Sonic from the start, he gangs up on him, beats him to the point of unconsciousness, kidnaps him, is indirectly (at least) the cause of 6 months of torture, beats him again, tells him he’s not even worth killing, tries to kill him and the entire resistance by throwing the sun at them and then tries to kill him personally before Sonic can finally get the revenge he wanted.

So I’m sensing a lot of initially one-sided hostility between him and Sonic.

Another point is that his theme seems to be directed towards Sonic, it is mocking him, trying to tear down everything he establishes in Fistbump, stating that friendship will get you nowhere when you rely on it too much, asking who is going to save Sonic from Infinite when he is alone?

This is once again shown with how he interacts with Sonic, using Silver and Infinite’s little tussle as a comparison, yeah, Infinite throws an insult, but it’s as a collective, he says he’s happy to crush a hero to keep the “rabble” (the resistance) in line, but when Sonic appears it becomes very personal

He’s immediately on him, stating that Sonic is “back from the dead”, calling him the “little blue savior” and insisting he can smell Sonic’s fear, glad he’s left an impression, noting that Sonic is “still thrashing around”, in his own words.

He speaks to Sonic so personally, hell, he waits for Sonic to quit talking before tossing Sonic to another part of the jungle to fight him alone. He very well could have gotten rid of Silver and then dealt with Sonic, but he instead decides dealing with Sonic immediately is more important than Silver is. He even says that he will meet Sonic again after that fight.

he also threatens to smash Sonic into blue jelly. I just wanted to mention that because it’s funny that he specifically said he would smash him into BLUE JELLY

So it makes me wonder, what is this dude's issue??? Why is he so obsessed with Sonic? And then it kind of hit me. Sonic is the antithesis of everything he values and believes in, of course he’d be intrigued.

Or, alternatively, he’s intrigued because Sonic is just like him.

Yep, It’s the moment we’ve (me) all been waiting for! We’re finally discussing the “two sides of the same coin” point!

Sonic and Infinite are exact opposites but they are also the exact same! They both so desperately need support and companionship (I’ve covered Sonic’s need, but we can see how Infinite needs support and companionship with how he handles the loss of his squad), they both have the same kind of goal (change the world to be a place they would want to live in, good or bad), they’re both associated with the same people (Shadow and Robotnik)!

They are the exact same but they are exact opposites! They are each other’s foils but they complement each other so well, they are two sides of the same tarnished, damaged coin!

I LOVE SONIC FORCES SO MUCH WHY AM I LIKE THIS

Sonic and Infinite are what they could have been based on how they responded to their own struggles. Infinite could have very well been just like Sonic, dedicated to helping people because of what happened at Mystic Jungle, and Sonic could have very well been just like Infinite, lashing out and hurting everyone in his way because of any of the copious losses he’s been forced to deal with.

But they don’t, they become the person they are because of how they respond to their own struggles, trauma, losses and wins. And that’s the beauty of their characters.

Sonic and Infinite are foils to each other, it’s a point you can’t argue, but the reason they are foils to each other is because they are the same in some weird, messed up way.

But I wanted to add one more thing before I finish this off.

Infinite very well left an Impression on Sonic. Like it or not, somehow, someway, Infinite’s concepts and ideals imprinted on Sonic and it made him and his own problems worse. So much worse.

I won’t go into too much about that because that links to other things outside of solely Forces, so yeah, tangent done. Thank you for listening

rick's suicide attempt

(im never not thinking about it)

i was rewatching auto erotic assimilation and when jerry's looking through rick's stuff in the garage you can see him look through he cabinet/cupboard place where the things that rick uses for his attempt are (obviously we knew rick had them already because we see him taking them directly from the cupboard and not having to like go look for them)

all the materials, both when jerry's looking through them and when rick uses them, colour coded for clarity

but like im wondering bcs the device he crafts doesnt really seem to have any purpose other than suicide, if he wanted to use it to kill someone else it would be incredibly impractical because he would have to bring them back to his home where his family are—because the base where the crystal goes seems to be fixed to the table—and hold them under the beam until it went off with them probably struggling against him, unless he knocked them out, but either way it just seems like way too much effort when we see that rick has loads of different funky guns

screwed onto the table, (plugged into something? it has wires) does not look very portable at all

so was all that stuff only there for him to kill himself? why did he just have suicide materials lying around other than him wanting to commit? or is there another thing he could've used that thing for that i'm missing?

like, sure he could have had that stuff there for another purpose, like the thing mounted on his table could have different attatchments, but why did he bulid the specific attatchments that he uses to try to kill himself? they were already pre-made, and we see he had specifically two red crystal lightbulb things (one for the creature and one for him)

only two crystal attachments

idk it just kinda seems like something more than a spur of the moment thing, im not saying he was planning on killing himself necessarily, but he seemed to be ready for the situation, i mean he has expressed suicidal ideation on other occasions in the show

also i do feel like seeing the things there and jerry going through them adds to the whole no one even noticing thing like people have pointed out about jerry whacking the weeds while rick is still lying passed out on the table and not even like seeing him, well he also touched the things rick used for his suicide attempt only a few hours preceding it idk maybe thats dumb but it felt important to me when i watched it

anyway idk this isn't even really an analysis or a theory or anything im just saying shit 😭

These I drew over the past 2-3 weeks! They're my lovely OCS, left to right, Lucille, Mara and Sabrina! They're story is a big fat beautiful shit on JK Rowl*ng! Lucille is a black lesbian successful trans woman/future magic council-woman, Mara is a japanese-american hard-headed/bold sapphic woman/future professional magical athlete, and Sabrina is a plus-size queer woman/future professional magical plants necromancer! They're in my twist on Harry Potter universe, where they all go to magical university, and the point is that Mara and Lucille are infamous school rivals, but then fall in love/fall in love with Sabrina too! A magical gay polycule if u will, I've written 2 short stories about them for my fiction class so far!

These are actually being projected across pages in a fake photo album/prom guestbook thingy, fully interactive so u can turn the pages and it shows a new animation, like a magical storybook! Also, since it's prom themed, I made it a kinda guestbook/sign book so gallery viewers can get some glitter pens I left out to sign the end of it! I also have a playlist I made playing in the gallery along with it so it's like what they'd play at this prom! :) hope that made sense!

The content is that the girl you see walking around in white is getting social anxiety/stressed out, to the point of dissociating, as a way of doing my theme I've kept up for university of things appearing darker than they initially look (hence the colors + I love colors), and to bring awareness to mental health!

welp, didnt mean to include all that black space, but that's my artist statement too! (u cant see the prints in the pictures, that's just my interactive piece I was talking about!)

You may be able to tell I am not out of Lothering with her yet so I don't quite have a grasp on her personality yet, but she's a very do-no-harm but take-no-shit kinda girl*

*harm is okay if they are giving you shit. If they're giving you shit, depending on the level of offense, wholesale slaughter is sometimes necessary [looks directly at Vaughan]

Other candidates could be Aned Trevelyan, sister to Halen (she has her own inquisitor worldstate <3)

She's kind of shy and sheltered but very sweet (don't let the fact that she's scowling in the photo fool you ahdhdjf)

Aaaand I also have Annika Amell, older sister of Rodaine, who is not unlike her brother. She's very intelligent and clever, and passionate in all she does. Rodaine also has two other sisters who would be around... 26? During inquisition? I think? But I only have Sims of them as kids RIP. They are named Rosalie and Serenity. Rosalie is a bit of a wild child, likes to have a good time and cause mischief, big animal lover. Serenity is appropriately named, very calm and polite.

Yesterday's Lecture notes, ignore the way it's set up i did this on the spot while listening to the recording of the lecture, no i'm not going to go back and fix the typos, also if you're following me for the fanfic stuff I'm sorry I just really like sharing what I learn sometimes. . Right off the bat, lot of early 1950's women artists (United States I believe?) managed to get a breakthrough into the artworld because they were married to already famous artists at the time. (yikes for the artworld there)

. Big gender bias within the modern art between male and female artists (no surprise there, 1950's good ol' fashioned family values ewwww)

. Abstract Expressionism- male artists were celebrated and women artists were overlooked (yup, reiterating this time frame was kinda shit) . Lee Krasner (I don't know if I spelled that right) Pollocks partner only got recognised about a decade later.

not totally ignored? but not given the museum treatment

What was gender like in the 1940's through 50's? . ww2 saw the rise of women working in factories and taking on primarily masculine work due to the lack of men within the country from the men being at war

lots of Rosie the Riveter propoganda to encourage women into the workforce

. Women were still expected to return to their 'domestic duties' once the men returned to let the men regain employment

femme fatale characters begin to show up in media, anxiety surrounding 'out of place women', a sense of enticement and yet moral crisis

Nuclear family featured prominently in the 1950's (ubiquitous to the US, the TV set was, limited number of stations but centrepiece of the household) as an assurance of 'the norm' (Leave it to Beaver, other sitcoms...) Images of domesticity of women in the role of wife and mother/conventional gender roles

^ The backdrop of this particular era of modern and abstract expressionism

Notice that only one woman (added last minute) into the famous photo of The Irascables (group of famous artists from the time)

. Women depicted in the photographs of the art magazines and news would be demurely sitting beside/near/on their work > an extension of the art/decorative quality to the painting (not really ever shown creating the art) in sharp contrast to men artists like Pollock who were photographed mid-painting (often the process being a part of the painting itself) Krasner discovered Pollock, Was one of the leading teachers of the time, despite the fact she was a woman, met pollock in an exhibition. "Krasner wrestled with her position as a partner and also an artist" -prof said . used a lot of cubism, evolved to gestural and 'image surfacing' which would become the main basis for Abstract Expressionism

Pollock has figurative elements but was far more towards gestural mark making, Krasner worried about her work being compared to Pollocks work as the gestural elements became more similar to the two. (Non figurative, gestural application of paint for both, Krasner used more thicker black lines that interupted the flow, almost a sense to resist Pollock's influence and distance her style from his work, Krasner worked in the attic or spare bedroom of the house they shared and as such her paintings were a much smaller scale than Pollocks, who had massive canvas that took up the workshop below)

Krasner's similarity to her partner Pollock's work made her concerned about whether she'd be able to exhibit without her constant comparison to her husband's work or claims of copying/too much influence. (Later works did show a large change of style in her paintings that were far different to her previous styles but personally I think they look kind of stiff and unhappy if that makes sense.) Had a return to her previous style but with collage rather than paint/just paint (often mixed collage) that does look similar to Pollock's work but different enough in how it was created to be considered it's own? Maybe? Truely returned to form after his death and was able to use the full studio and create her own massive paintings. (Noticing many of them seem to be far more gestural than previous, frantic and full of emotion. Mixed feelings of his death influencing her work? She DID actually care for his estate and that his reputation did not suffer past his death, so, something was there? Professor did not divulge their relationship.) Elain DeKuning married to Willam DeKuning (first example shows very gestural similarities however Elain seems more focused on individual portraiture vs Willam's generic 'woman' painting. Not much of Elain's paintings are really preserved.) Joan Mitchel and partner JeanPaul Riepel, Mitchel was noted for having work that 'equaled that of the male artist' -"I find these very strong works, lots of gestural marks that are elaborate and on par with Pollock's works" -prof "Riepel's works doesn't have the same openness as Mitchel's work" -prof (kinda gotta see the paintings to understand what that means, srs look them up) Helen Rankenthaler (?), Greenburg's lover (?), used thin paint on unprimed canvass, developed a technique of staining the canvass. Greenburg considered this the "next step forward from Pollock's work", Greenburg did NOT recognise Helen's contribution and instead had his buddy Morris Luis learn how to copy the technique and Morris got famous instead. (wow, fuck you Greenburg) Keneth Nolan (?) also adopted the staining technique and attained critical and commercial favour as the "next Pollock", was even promoted by Pollock. "in the modern world we would -for the most part- be quick to call out this behaviour, but this was unfortnately not common at the time" -prof

Many women artists did not want to be seen as 'women artists' and preferred to just be 'artists', rejected the feminist push of the time to be seen as women artist as they wanted their works to be unjudged by whether they were women or not and just judged as art in general. (Nowaday's that would be seen as a form of feminsm, at the time it wasn't (?) but was still considered controversial, there's a lot of split arguments on it, it seems.) Part 2 of the Lecture Art an Life: Kaprow, Oldenburg, Raushenberg

Artists who emerged in the late 50's, followed from Abstract Expressionism Group of artists who respond to the legacy of Abstract Expressionism . Avant Guarde- keeps culture moving, vs Mass Culture Kistch- "the bad stuff" common capitalist stuff that "drags progress down" according to Klement Greenburg Kind of paradoxical? Art being subjective to the artist's individuality but also supposed to transcend the subjectivity of the artist's personal life? (ow my brain) . Art Begets Art, each generation of artists respond to the past generation, creating a new form of art. . Rosenberg really liked the 'event' of the creation of an artpiece, believed the performative aspect of the creation was just as important as the creation itself (I kinda like that, the process is just as important to the art as is the final piece)

"how to come to the decision that artwork is finished? as an artist, where is the point where you decide it's done? is it ever done?" -prof (damn dude, existentialism in my lectures? more likely than you think)

Robert Rauschenberg, was in the military during ww2, developed a criticism of abstract expressionism in is his own works, incorporated the title into a picture in which he got a drawing from DeKuning and then erased it and titled it and made it his own piece of work (that feels kind of rude but was his point to be a thing of 'erasing the previous generations work to be recognised as the new generation'? or was it just a stunt to be noticed? i still think that was a dick move, unless it was previously agreed upon by both parties), lots of collage and found material/found images from magazines in his pieces. (key reference to this type of work was DuChamp, who was being rediscovered in the 50-60's, incorporated a lot of the 'event' and 'discovery/chance' and 'redy-made' aspects of DuChamp's work into Rauschenburg's work, by bringing together these materials in reference to previous generations of abstract expressionism he is evoking themes from past art history.)

(prof does not know about the story of Ganymede and I think he would implode from disgust if he did) DuChamp's readymade's were based on the principle of economy, "powerful works using minimal matierials" vs Raushenburg's maximalism.

Ellen Kaprow, younger than Rauschenberg, (her work Hysteria reminds me of something the Joker from suicide squad would make) incorporates collage and found materials as well. (Wait is Kaprow and guy? Prof just said "he" instead of she?) Kaprow published a retrospective legacy of Pollock, encouraged the use everything including other senses and even materials like music to be used as art mediums. Derived that the goal of art isn't to produce objects but to create events that can be audience participation (created The Happenings, early forms of performance art) Happenings can be restaged later but cannot be physically hung up on a wall, rather they can only be seen by physically experiencing them in person, work being performed in different rooms and different versions as people cycle through, each performance would be unique to each individual (in contrast to a theatrical performance) -oooh that's cool! also why does Kaprow look like my dad? da fuq?-

Claus Oldenburg, better known for the pieces in the pop art movement in the 60's, earlier work included installations. (prof is struggling with computers, give him a bit) Used a lot of found materials to create environments in a gallery. (holy shit ok that image caught me off guard lolololol there's a guy in underwear dancing around in toilet paper and another guy with some sort of paper mask in this image just hopping around the installation, man the 60's were fuckin wild!) Began reprudcing sculptures of everyday items out of plaster and paper (?) clearly meant to be artificial but look realistic ish. (that's a sad looking cloth ice cream, it's so deflated, is it okay? oh it's a soft sculpture ok that's why it's deflated) Prof says we're gonna start switching to learning about how the artworld shifts to being less abstractionism and more artist's pushing the boundaries to see just what exactly art can be. -End of Lecture
