Musings on 4 vs. 8

I have many musings on the topic of 4 vs. 8. The deeper I’ve gone into enneagram the more I’ve realized these types are so similar in presentation and so often confused.

both types feel that they were thrown out of heaven, and their complex circles around that.

4s feel that they suffer uniquely, because they have these idealistic, utopian visions they want to communicate with the world that nobody understands (4 -> 1). It’s not only this. Life is not worth living if it is not lived in the utopia / heaven. The super specific, super unique utopia that the 4 envisions. So the 4 suffers, crying out for heaven, trying to communicate their vision of heaven to the masses, trying to free themselves (4 -> 2) from the torment of their vision that can’t be made real, through self expression.

8s also feel like they were thrown out of heaven. 8s are also a “fallen” type. It isnt an accident that the Devil is always typed at 8. Heaven for 8s however, is not some hyper specific, unique idealistic vision with specific details of perfection, like it is for 4s who are trying to integrate to 1. Heaven for 8s is whenever we are FREE (Holy Freedom, ideal of 2) from paranoia to be loving, proud souls who have the capacity to give and receive unconditional love (8 -> 2). we long to be an open fountain of love, pouring out love and sacrifice to those around us, but then we are pulled down by the dark void (8 -> 5), into all this paranoia. And then we are angry. Angry angry angry that we cannot be our beautiful loving selves because there is so much darkness in the world pulling us back. we Blame the world for our misery, it’s the world’s fault we are miserable, the world’s fault for not being paranoia-free enough to let us be our special proud 2 selves… we are not realizing ofc that the paranoia and fear and darkness comes from within ourselves.

8s disintegrate into a hiding ninja 5. 4s disintegrate into an expressive 2. So, 8s know they can hide this dark world from people and LARP as normies to blend in. LARPing as something you’re not to get your way — a concept which is alien to 4s, who feel the need to expose themselves, and feel like “why live if I can’t be myself, if I can’t die for my idealistic vision” — is unfulfilling. It leads to a lack of satisfaction as you become numbed out to life. But 8s have such a persecution complex from 5, we do not see that hiding is unsatisfying and the answer is to embrace our true self publicly and proudly like a healthy 2 (and like a 4 properly using their 2 line). We sink deeper into the 5-ish paranoia idea that the world is full of hostile controlling people who wouldn’t be able to handle our real self because they’re all pussies and cowards, and receive our satisfaction from anger / lust (anger is burnt up and channeled into lust. Mmm I love going deeper into the void. Mmm oh my god it feels so good. Drown me drown me daddy, consume me). 8 to 2… well, proper 8 -> 2… is about overcoming this arrogant self-importance complex (the world should be ready to handle me and all my dark weird shit, just becuz I am needy!). 8s must acknowledge that we live in a world with people who we need to be considerate of. 8s can work hard to find a way to combine sharing our true dark angry void self with being considerate of others.

Now those of you who are still typology Neanderthals will come @ me like “omg you are a 4 because you are emo, talking abt your alone dark void self” and make me want to bang my head against the wall. someone once thought I was a 4 because she saw my tumblr blog where I was posting slowcore music and whining “I’m so aloneeeee”. Feeling isolated and alone and emo doesn’t make someone a 4. Basically any type can be emo, isolated and emotionally self indulgent in different contexts, but it is most common for disintegrated 8s to be this way frequently, esp. on anonymous social media. Anonymous anger / emotion / lust expression is part of the 8 -> 5 hiding complex and I have observed it in every 8 I have known, not just myself. Anyway. Feeling alone and isolated is a 5-ish sentiment. Disintegrated 8s are walled off from other people like 5s and they live in their own world of emotions and theories and persecution complex like 5s do. an edgy loner who is whining about how alone she feels, is probably an 8.

4s don’t feel generically “alone” so much as they feel like aliens lost in a world they don’t belong to. 4s feel like they only belong to their hyper specific, special, perfect 1-ish heavenly utopia, but they were tragically thrown out from it. Oh god, the agony. 4s love their friends in this world, but still feel they don’t belong in this world. This is where the “special snowflake” complex that 4s are so infamous for comes from. To be a snowflake means far more than to self-pity — something 8s, 9s, 5s, 6s and even 2s frequently do. being a snowflake means actually thinking you’re from another Origin to others. And therefore no matter WHAT, they COULDNT understand your pain. Your pain is otherworldly, beyond the comprehension of their species. this sense of not belonging in the same world as their friends causes inner conflict for the 4 because fuck. “My friends… do they actually belong to this world? Am I being selfish and taking them away from this world into my own fantasy world? But also… how dare they come visit my world then not live in it and stay in it! How dare they not be one of me?” I’ve known 4s who felt fear / conflict / guilt about sucking their loved ones away from reality. 4s struggle with taking too much unearned Pride (4 -> 2) in the fantasy / utopia, and neglecting their moral obligation to do the hard work to bring this fantasy into reality, where it can truly be shared with others (4 -> 1)

When it comes to expressing emoness, 4s are more likely to be found telling you about their idealized fantasy utopia and/or telling you the detailed backstory of their life, than telling you how they actually feel here and now. Going “I’m so aloneeeeeeee” “I’m so seperate from other people” “I’m a sad girl, I’m a bad girl, I’m a bad girl” and plain self pitying like this with no attempt to be spectacular, is probably an 8 or a 9. or a 5 or a 6, their disintegration points. There is no 4 -> 1 idealism or 4 -> 2 seeking to stand out in any of this generic self-pitying that so many of you people think is 4.

8s and 4s get confused perhaps because of their shared line to 2, because 8 and 4 both want to stand out, since 2 is about standing out, and because of the misconception that self-pitying emos are 4s when actually they are more likely to be 5s… the disintegration type of 8. Remember that 4 disintegrates into 2, meaning that — although you wouldn’t get this from mainstream ennea where 4 is a wet noodle and 2 is a dick-sucking people pleaser — 4s cope with stress by becoming more expressive, melodramatic and attention seeking (like 2s). Whilst 8s cope with stress by hiding, getting lost in their own solipsistic emotional world, and becoming timid (like 5s).

final note: 8 cores need someone to share all their 5-ish stuff with, so they will find someone to talk about their inner world with like 4s will, or if they don’t find someone they will find a rage-based outlet for the pain and angst they feel about their isolation. You must pay careful attention to the difference between an 8 -> 5 inner World, And a 4 inner World. The 8 -> 5 inner world is untempered by superego, actually it can be understood as an escape from superego, as the 8 runs away from 2 and runs into 5. and therefore the 8 -> 5 inner world comes off as much more chaotic and random than the 4 inner world. The 8 -> 5 inner world is not a clear story or message. It is a disjointed series of thoughts and beliefs and speculations and insights from experiences, which put together, probably make no sense. Like all my posts on this blog lmao. NOT refined. Now the 4 inner world is caught between two superego lines (4 -> 1 and 4 -> 2) which make it refined, refined by intellectual idealism (1) and refined by the idealized free self (2). Even if it’s completely detached from reality, it is refined.

i finished true colors and i’m having a lot of thoughts that i NEED to talk about.

(if this is gonna be long idk, i apologize for your eyeballs)

1. i honestly didn’t like alex at all when i saw the trailer, i was thinking “hmm idk about this one” but as soon as i started to play the game i fell so in love with her, she is so freaking smart and funny, she genuinely cares about the people around her and her story it’s very different from the other characters from LIS anthology. i truly enjoyed seeing alex’s development throughout the game especially her realizing that her powers can actually help the people around her and not harm anyone, the way she controls it after her conversation with gabe was such an awesome upgrade from the alex who was so ashamed of her power to alex superwoman. i liked how the game explored her emotions and her mind about the past, the mine part where alex was struggling to feel everything she felt in those days and then embracing everything was one of my favorite parts. it shows a lot of growth.

2. this game has AMAZING CHARACTERS, every single one of the characters was well written, they had life, they had problems, they had their own emotions with private stuff that was going on in their lives and you could actually talk to them and meet their “layers”. mac for an example was an asshole but i couldn’t pretend i didn’t felt his concern and fear around typhon, the way he was terrified about everyone hating him, he was scared for his life and being very paranoid, i was concerned about him and the game giving you the choice to speak to him or leaving him was a tricking decision cause you could leave him alone suffering or try to help him out, maybe saving his life and this is a lot but he’s alive. the game makes him real and that’s what makes me INSANE about the characters. i know, i’m talking about a game where you’re supposed to feel the characters’ feelings but that could possibly go wrong as well if the characters were shallow and poorly explored and that’s not the case with true colors. they had purpose.

3. alex’s power it’s probably my favorite power. the choices in this game was way harder than the first two games, the craziest thing is you can choose if you want to take someone else’s feeling so they can stop feeling that way, saving them from themselves making alex suffer instead and that's selfish. don’t get me wrong, i’m not calling alex a selfish person but taking someone else’s feeling doesn’t make anything better, you’re taking their right to heal, to be alive and that is so fucking awesome. you have this power to help someone, to “take their pain away” and you will learn that people need to feel what they are supposed to feel so they can move forward cause if we don’t, we are never going to learn. we see that charlotte is pretty angry about gabe’s death, she blames everyone but mostly ethan, she is miserable. alex can choose between taking charlotte’s anger or leave her. if alex takes charlotte’s anger, charlotte is left completely empty, she doesn’t feel anything and when i say anything it’s anything. she is left emotionless and bitter, she doesn’t pass through her way of mourning for gabe and she doesn’t have alex’s back when alex confronts jed. if alex leave charlotte to her anger we have a nice moment between them on the festival, talking about what happened and charlotte gets alex’s back on the black lantern and that’s what i mean from being selfish, if we take someone else’s feelings we are being unfair to them, we are choosing for them and people are supposed to feel, heal in their own time or overcome. by taking charlotte’s anger we deprived her from healing, we are not helping her, we are just making an natural process even more difficult and slower. alex being able to hear what someone is thinking and enter that person’s world from what they are feeling at that moment it’s the best detail for me, everything changes, we get to see the world through that person’s eyes, we can understand them but we decide what to do with that, we can be selfish or actually help. of course, we can take pike’s situation for an example also, if we take his fear we can help him overcome typhon and we get to expose jed but pike’s fear was necessary to take and charlotte was not necessary, pike at least had the pendrive with the recorded calls on it so we had a chance for things to get better.

4. chapter 5 was an amazing ending. finding out the truth about typhon, jed was never a hero, alex confronting her past, the confrontation and seeing who was going to be on your side, alex’s final conversation with gabe and the end, it was better than i thought it could be. i truly loved seeing alex’s past, even with everything that went down she turned to be a good person who wanted to be loved (her passion for music being the thing that helped her connected to me in a lot of levels, that creep cover though i screamed so hard when she started to sing). the mine part was absolutely insane not just alex surviving that fall discovering that gabe was looking for his dad for so long, jed knowing it and all of this time his dad actually died because of jed, alex finding the truth by taking her mom’s necklace back from what was left of that accident it’s so heartbreaking, the confrontation was crazy, i thought no one was going to believe alex because jed was so loved by everyone there it would be so easy to doubt alex and just be on jed’s side which was what ryan did but it’s understandable, jed was his dad, his hero. alex’s speech on jed exposing him after everything was one of the best monologues on that game and man this game had AMAZING dialogues and monologues, everything felt so real and beautiful, the best part of it it’s to forgive jed that’s where alex break him, he regrets everything even more cause when we find out the truth. we find out why jed never enjoyed talking about being the hero of haven springs. at the end jed wasn’t entirely a bad person cause when we forgive him he gives back alex her dad’s jacket talking about how he wanted to give it to gabe but couldn’t, that’s something that made me love even more the characters even jed that was the “villain”, which i don’t think he is. what he did was terrible and he knew that, he tried to pretend nothing happened when alex started to talk but at the end he broke, that always haunted him and that’s the difference between him and jefferson who was actually the villain in life is strange he wasn’t forced to do those things, he killed rachel, he killed chloe, he manipulated nathan, he was going to kill max and if max didn't stopped him on the arcadia bay ending he would kill even more students at blackwell.

5. alex and steph relationship was the purest thing on this game, it was smooth, it was organic, it wasn’t something out of the blue, steph liked alex since the beginning. the plan to pick someone to flirt with diane and get her pendrive i chose ryan and afterwards steph started to feel something, she was so upset that alex used to think ryan was “hotter than her” (i only chose ryan cause i didn’t want to see steph flirting with diane but i saw the scene where we pick steph and omg i should’ve chosen steph cause that scene it’s hilarious), steph was happier around alex, every time she had an opportunity to flirt with alex she took it. seeing their love grow through the chapters was beautiful, i know we can choose ryan over steph but i don’t believe ryan liked alex the way steph did, you can literally see that no matter what alex did steph was going to support her and look at her with so much love and respect and that’s why i think alex and steph’s relationship it’s so pure and right. also they looked so good playing together it’s so cute that they have the same passion for music and THAT LARP SCENE FOR GOD’S SAKE MY HEART MELTED!

6. this part is exclusively to talk about LARP and the fight scenes, it reminded me so much of final fantasy it was so COOL, well thought and so fun. it was awesome to see everyone taking care of ethan and doing their best to make him happy.

7. talking about ethan, this game opened a conversation in my head about charlotte and ethan, i started to think a lot about what charlotte said about ethan how she felt happier when gabe was around and now she was stuck with only ethan again, it made me think that maybe charlotte didn’t want to have a child or if she didn’t had ethan she could have gabe again. that could open a conversation about women who didn’t want to become a mom but it doesn’t mean that charlotte would hurt ethan which makes total sense to decide to leave her alone and not take her anger, she would never hurt ethan. it was again another tricking decision cause we get concerned about ethan when charlotte starts to talk but we know deep down she cares so much about her son, she does everything for him.

life is strange true colors became my favorite life is strange, the story it’s different and great, it’s literally finding the truth about everything, when we understand people’s feelings we discover the truth about them and situations, we understand everything. this game actually made me cry harder and think so much even more than the first one and boy i love the first one so badly. it talks a lot about empathy and how we react to people’s emotions, your choices in this game are way harder than messing with time or moving things with your mind, it’s choices about things that could happen in real life eventually and that is what makes this game so important to me, it’s real.

ahhh omg!! thank you so much!! i'm so bad at remembering to bookmark my fics but let me think -- i love komodobit's assimilation and cuckoo and nest -- both are short but impeccable character studies, in my opinion!

unfortunately rageprufrock's the girlfriend experience IS the og sadieservice fic so that's gotta go on here it always makes me laugh ... another fic that always makes me laugh is saltyfeathers' put up your dukes (deeply horny homoeroticism of fighting). OH deeply underrated comedic fic in modern era spn fan-age is broadway musical by griftings! canticles written by 2street2car is a season 4 era fic that was written very recently and makes me insane perfect dean and cas voices and really makes you ache with it!

where the weeds take root by deathbanjo (a writer i love!) is just my absolute favorite post-canon settling down with a house and chickens and the entire hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy series to read. aeli_kindara's first date series is another one that gets even MY cold dead heart to open and i love their cas pov in teaching poetry to fish which spans the entire canon of the show and cas' life before hand and really beautifully integrates poetry with the story!

two format breaking fics i really loved were renrub's r/supernatural (dean's on reddit. VERY funny) and To Boldly Go (dean writes star trek fic fic as i like to call it -- you can even see me larping as one of dean's regular commenters in some of the chapters haha!)

also of course i have to give nepotism shoutouts to the goldenrod revisions by aethylas (PERFECT re-write of 15x19 and continuation of the show), a short history of dean and tentacles by casisms (sadieservice at its finest. impeccable character study) and everything that dies (one day comes back) by gayfranzkafka (supernatural is a story about stories) and looking like a true survivor (feeling like a little kid) by courfeyrac (lovely if bumpy post canon tfw + friends and family build a bear trip)

Faves and fails of SPN (season 8)

Best episodes (in chronological order):

8:4 Bitten - First good episode and the brothers are barely in it. Probably a testament to how i feel about them and the show this early in season 8

8:8 Hunteri heroici - Finally a silly episode, it almost makes the list just because of that. Cartoons. ”I’ll interrogate the cat.” Best job in the world. Cass’s finest moments.

8:9 Citizen fang - A better Benny than when we first meet him. But sooooooo many frustrating moments. The level of hypocrisy from like everyone involved is crazy. ”Winchesters, man.” Turns out Ellen had a point about them.

8:11 LARP and the real girl - Another great silly episode and they are sorely needed this season. Charlie and Dean are adorable.

8:13 Everybody Hates Hitler - Home of the men of letters is introduced, thank goodness. Nothing makes me feel quite so at ease as this place. And a great episode. With retro villans to match the setting. Adam Rose does such a great job. And John DeSantis.

8:14 Trial and error - Surprisingly good episode owed to the side characters (Danay Garcia is h.o.t).

8:17 Goodbye stranger - There’s something about this episode. Oh, it’s probably the horrifying intro as well as the betrayal set to the sound of Supertramp, or, y’know it could be MEG and my huge crush on her. Sam confiding in Meg (bit of a pattern). MEGSTIEL. Omg. What I would give to have that convo be out of Naomi’s influence. I can’t handle Cass this season, I know it’s not his fault but... Dean begging. Gosh. *sigh* Fine. Destiel. But Meeeeeeeg! No! :(

8:18 Freaks and geeks - Goooooood episode. The clash of ideas surrounding hunting, the ambivalence the brothers feel about being forced into the life so early vs the inevidability of it for the kids, the option of letting go. The horror of what these guys are doing. Also the idea of a hunter dream team is kind of cool.

8:19 Taxi Driver - Bobby! Nuff said. Also Benny goes out with a bang.

8:20 Pac-Man Fever - Charlie! Dream-setting! What is happening? I don’t care, it’s awesome! And Manny Jacinto! Already typecasted as an idiot. ”Don’t quote me to me!” And ”I hate that thing... I want one.” And them saying goodbye. ”I love you.” ”I know.” Hugs all around. Cuddles is off the charts! Love it. I feel like one of the reason this show works for as long as it does is because of the brothers. A bit obvious, I know, but it’s why I forgive it for tons of shit, and it’s why nothing works w/o them, when they have issues w each other nothing feels right.

Worst episodes (in chronological order):

8:5 Blood Brother - Look, it’s not that I dislike Benny, but I kinda do, especially based off this episode; he’s seeking revenge based on the assumption that his sire killed his woman. Then he finds her alive (sort of) but prefers her fridged. Fuck you man.

8:7 A little slice of Kevin - First: I don’t care much for Kevin, his importance to the story is unearned. The show is lucky they keep Mrs Tran on as long as they do. Also the torture scenes of Alfie and Kevin make me sick, no love for Crowley this season.

8:10 Torn and frayed - More torture porn. Fucking hate that shit. And the torture of having to watch Amelia and Sam faking that they’re important to each other. Ugh. At least Dean and Cass try to save Alfie. But like generally; my issue w the first half of this season is I got no one to really root for. Everybody is just so unepic.

8:15 Man’s best friends with benefits - I don’t know about this. I’m intrigued by this world, but I sort of feel like this is one of those in show-pilots, and... i don’t know. Plus y’know friction between the brothers, not here for it. Ultimately I don’t care about this.

Honorable mentions:

The use of Soundgarden in Southern comfort, Soundgarden is always a win.

Dean trying to take care of Sam when he’s undergoing the trials. More of that shit plz!

Castiel’s Biggerson’s scheme- brilliance! ”There are just so many Biggerson’s.”

Also Crowley’s elaborate Truman-scenario w Kevin.

I feel like this season is kinda the boys going proactive; they’re instigators. I like it.

Sam’s been done one dirty: it is ooc for him to not go after at least Kevin after season 7’s finale.

And the lack of thought, time and emotion put into his so-called love story is frigging embarrassing. Dean gets a real, believable love story and Sam gets this out of a bottle soapy bullshit? Sad backstory equals character depth right? It’s one of the worst written ”romantic” storylines I’ve ever witnessed, it’s like the writers just took every romance trope they could find regardless of subgenre (Yeah- romcoms, romantic tragedies, contemporary angst, erotica - they’re not all the same, idjits) and threw them in the blender together. What’s better than one meet cute? Two meet cutes! Nothing says romance like an endless string of unconnected obstacles, right? *deep sigh* Listen, I *wish* SPN had more love stories in it, it needs it, and the fact that it doesn’t have ’em is why the show will never rly be a true contender for me; But not like this, i don’t want ~romantic~ as some sort of appendix, but as *real* sub plots or main plots even, like in Buffy. #willdiemadaboutit

Summing up:

Structure this season is a bit chaotic.

The season gets good about halfway through. There are several things the matter w the first half. Sam’s ooc behavior and the fact that we’ve had almost no time w Kevin but the stakes forced onto him are so high. The second half makes up for it introducing The Men of Letters HQ, heartbreak, folly, love and friendship that feels real.

There is something that irks me about the ending too though: something about Dean’s gaze, his temporal blindness: when he is angry with Cass (which he has a complete right to be btw) but refuses to deal w his anger, claiming he can only trust Sam, leaving Cass behind to try to win his affections back thus making him vulnerable to Metatron’s meddling. And Sam points this behavior out in the season’s finale ”What happens the next time I let you down?”. There is a judgy quality to Dean which can make or break the other characters and it’s a quality he should try to take more responsibility for. That aside: the finale is very strong, one of my favorite ones actually, for the sheer emotion of it.

Top 3 Supernatural Episodes Per Season

Warning: Spoilers below the cut. I am SUPER biased. Take everything I say with a HEALTHY grain of salt. 

Season 1: omg they look like INFANTS

1. “Home” 1x09. This episode is amaaaaaaaaaaaaazing AND it’s super important to the mytharch AND we get Winchester family drama. One of those early instances of “Wow we need to give Jensen Ackles an emmy like yesterday”. Mary turns up and foreshadows like??? so much??

2. “Scarecrow” 1x11. Super creepy, major “The Lottery” vibes, fuck I just. I love it. 

3. “Hell House” 1x17. Close call between this one and “Something Wicked” but in the end, Harry and Ed and all the hilarity that ensues just. *chef’s kiss*

Season 2:  ugh so many good episodes season 2 is SO good

1. “The Usual Suspects” 2x07. SAM GETS TO BE SO SNARKY IN THIS EPISODE AND I LOOOOVE IT. Also Diana is a bamf. 

2. “Croatoan” 1x09. UGH YASSSSSSS. Close call between this and “In My Time Of Dying”, though

3. “Jus In Bello” 3x12. It was real hard to decide between this and Ghostfacers but ultimately, Nancy Fitzgerald (aka Ella Lopez) and Victor Henrikson are the actual best and deserve all the love ever.

Season 4: Somehow there is only one episode that is not stunningly amazing?? 

1: “On the Head of A Pin” 4x16. Cas becomes a main character and it is AMAZING and oh my god give Jensen ALL the emmys oh and ALSO we finally learn exactly what Sam and Ruby’s “extracurricular activities” entail. Feels like a movie. We get the reveal that the angels are working to break the seals. Anna is also amazing. Why is this episode so beautiful. I’m fucking crying and so is Dean. I could gush for hours. 

2. “It’s a Terrible Life” 4x17. This episode is just a fucking delight. (Am I giving it such a high score on the basis of The Kink’s “Well Respected Man” alone? Maybe. Honestly I SHOULD be putting Rapture here but oh well. I’m biased.) 

3. “Monster Movie” 4x05. It was hard to decide between this “In the Beginning” “Lazarus Rising” “The Rapture” and “Lucifer Rising” (which all deserve all the praise ever) but ugh ugh ugh this episode is ALSO perfect AND I love it a bajillion. It’s in black and white and the guest actress is SO pretty and also I think I’ve already gone into detail about how the MoTW is a Lucifer Parallel. Also Dean says he’s been rehymenated so TRANS!DEAN RIGHTS!

Season 5: You want to be sad? You also want to watch really good TV? SEASON FIVE IS WHERE IT’S AT! 

1. “Two Minutes To Midnight” 5x21. I know, I know. I should be putting “Swan Song” here but look,, I am easily bought with the promise of Julian Richings as Death. 

2. “Free To Be You And Me” 5x03. Funny Destiel buddy cop film, Sam gets to be filtered through the eyes of an audience-stand-in in universe, also contains Castiel’s ICONIC line “but today you’re MY little bitch”. 

3. “Dark Side of The Moon” 5x16. Narrowly beats out “My Bloody Valentine”, “Dead Men Don’t Wear Plaid”, and “The Song Remains The Same”. I am trash for any pieces of Sam and Dean’s childhoods and also this episode gives me SO MUCH material for beating up John with a baseball bat.

2. “Plucky Pennywhistle’s Magical Menagerie” 7x14. In the total goop of “thick. black. ooze.” of this season, 7x14 is a light in the darkness. Every inkling of joy, of spark, of color, of childishness, all of it, poured out into this one episode, wherein Sam totally loses his cool and I love it. Sam looks so pretty at the end. Dean is simultaneously an actual child and an actual Dad and I love it. 

3. “Out With The Old” 7x16. I love me some levis, man, don’t know what to tell you. It’s just so fun!!

sort of?? there’s certainly parts of myself i’m still dissatisfied with. I also often find myself worrying that i’m wasting my time on stuff (school things mostly) that I don’t actually care about. I worry about the future a lot, too, and along with many personal aspects of myself I wish were different, I wish I had a clearer and more attainable path in life.

I think a while ago my sister was just. struck with how far she felt i’d come, bc after she left for college I was incredibly depressed and obsessed with suicidal thoughts, and i’m different now. i’m still dealing with mental health stuff, but looking back on things from that perspective, i’d say yes. i’m far from perfect, but I’ve matured a lot and like. I’ve kept myself alive which is. a Lot! and I think it’s worth it for me to take a break from trying to “fix” every little flaw and appreciate that! :o

I very obviously get v v invested in fictional characters, and I really enjoy writing them! in that stuff, character accuracy is one aspect that’s important to me. I don’t always succeed in it, but if I can get a character’s speech patterns down I find that rlly rlly fun!

I actually have no idea… I don’t even remember the proper story anymore cuz despite it not being several years it was still quite a few years ago when I was still in.. middle school perhaps? That my school mates were talking about it and I asked my elder sibling who showed me random episodes, going by the least violent ones so I wouldn’t get nightmares.. so yeah I have no idea what season I first saw or what season was out exactly when I began watching random episodes. I only stared watching properly since last year 2. Who was the first character you fell in love with? 
Sam… he’s such a goddamn puppy that it’s hard not to like him!!! 3. Who was a character that you hated at first but grew to love?: 
Omg so many. I remember making a post about how the writers kill iff characters that were initially annoying but right as they started growing on us - bam. Dead
But ok maybe the first example was Bela… she actually was of course starting to grow o me by the time she died.. but the character that comes most immediately to mind because of how strongly I hated them… was Rowena. God she had been simply infuriating - I hated her so much for manipulating Crowley and threatening whatever good relationship he had with the Winchesters, that I wished she would die… but then come season 11 I fell absolutely I love with the woman 4. Which character would you most want to be in a long-term relationship with? 
Eep I have no fucking idea… fuck idk.. mm I never during my daydreams imagine myself with my fictional characters but if I had to choose… ugh maybe. Ok Dean is loyal and Sam is a puppy but idk it feels weird coming in between them… Cass is pretty amazing but… ugh fuck it maybe oh ok why not.. Charlie? Yeah. Charlie for sure, she’s amazing, pretty damn amazing with technology, I sure as hell wouldn’t mind her teaching me how to hack or everything about Star Trek or whatnot, seeing as I’ve never watched them (le gasp, the outrage! A first date or like after a few? Cuz if it’s after a few I wouldn’t mind a nature hike cuz goddamn do I love those… but for a first Idk I’d feel too self conscious. Honestly because I kinda already knew about everyone who was going to die until season 12, because like I had to catch up with the show and that meant big watching 11 seasons before the 12th came out. So that means 11 seasons f knowing who already dies for the most part… but I guess.. ok Charlie, idr if I knew she died but it hurt me a lot because I hated the fact that she died, and even more so what it did to the boys. And then every time Dean died, mainly seasons 3 and 9’s finale, and goddamn how broken up Sam got about it at those times… fuck those killed me but I guess they were more of the heart wrenching scenes then death specifically that hurt me. 
But of course. Cass. Cuz I had obviously. So. Not. Seen. It. Coming. I barely managed I avoid screaming and after… it took me a couple of hours to even remotely get to mouth shut 14. What season finale hit you the hardest?:

1 the good fan portrayals! look..yeah ok there was some stuff that was weird, we weren’t supposed to see them as like..the Ideal. but the whole thing of like…family that cares about you and that you care about and saving the world? they did understand that part of the appeal at least, they were just wrong about their target audience. The majority was sad teens, but…I think…I think they had the right vague Idea. It wasn’t AS unsympathetic as I thought.

2. the bad whatever the FUCK they were doing with Becky. Like…oh wow. Some of the convention stuff was clearly made to be mocking. Actually a lot of it. I’m honestly surprised at ANY good. Jesus that was cringe for like 80%. Like I’m glad in the end it…tried, but OUCH it was…Listen I get it wasn’t your target demo but you still have fans guys for FUCK’S SAKE

3. the reactions listen…Sam’s lil “ah yeah this is kinda funny in places, we can make this work, I can hide it” vs Dean’s “WHAT THE FUCK WHAT THE FUCK WHAT THE”…like idk Sam at least feels like someone who has let himself be weird and nerdy, Dean hasn’t, so he knows the vibe. Also I feel like Dean hates himself and his life a lot more than Sam does, regardless of how much they pretend it’s the other way. Like it reads as everything Dean wanted not to be, or was told not to be, and like…yeah ok there’s a metaphor in there. Whereas Sam the Protagonist is just kinda more chill. Also that one scene at the end was unironically funny(no chuck abort was very good)

4. the meta/self congratulatory ok as far as meta: they did take advantage of the fact that we the audience know shit the characters don’t to like…actually find the colt! like that was a very good use of meta! using the lady as the matron was also good use of meta! and yeah it’s self congratulatory(nerdy underdog niceguy writer gets the girl that’s a fan of his work)(hey if chuck’s a stand in that’s really fucked up guys) but that scene with Chuck was actually cool, and yknow…he’s not that bad right now. I know he will be, but he’s just kinda fun and funny

5. actually really good set up and payoff this episode like the shot glasses, the lady, the “they all think it’s a joke” hell even the fucking colt and bela and crowley. I just thought it was neat

6 hbo supernatural. Ok so…every single thing that was a bit Lighthearted ended up dark and vice versa. I think that they’re straddling this line a lil bit here, because they clearly wanna tell darker stories, but the CW is forcing them to stay peppy and they’re…not fantastic at integrating it. Like changing channels has two COMPLETELY separate vibes. I think that actually the curious case did it better, but both are good. Once again, the straining against circumstances that makes this fucking show so compelling, even if it’s not good
