Okay so to start google maps was like "It's a 17 minute venture on bike!!! :D" and it was NOOTTTTT 😭😭😭 so i quickly realised my computer bag does NOT fit into my bike's saddle bags but but oh well!!! i just slung it over my shoulder and went on my way There were SO many hills though i literally ended up pulling over and projectile vomiting on the side of the road :,) awful as you might imagine but again, oh well!!! i felt a lot better so i just continued on my way, this time i walked just because i wasn't quite feeling strong enough to continue on my bike, put my hair up and wrapped my jacket around my waist so on so forth

Almost ended up getting lost, was taken up a LITERAL HIKING TRAIL???? FOR SOME REASON????? and when i was almost at the college i realised i lost my favourite lemon jacket that i tied around my waist because it came loose :,( im going to DIE that was my FAVOURITEEEEEEEEEEE i tried retracing my steps but haven't been able to find it yet..... i swear i will after this class though because omg

Adding onto this a point I forgot to mention: The overlap in the rise of global right-wing/fascist movements (As much on a social societal scale as there is on a political one) undoing MUCH of the progress that's been made in the past century and the call for "tasteful" depictions of disturbing - dare i even say inherently distasteful - topics in media is not lost on me

like im sorry we NEED to start gatekeeping eroguro more because im so sick of people getting into what can be considered the literal PROGENITERS of "Don't like don't read"/ig you could call it technically proship thought??? and all these moral puritan femcels coming in and CLAIMING THE IDENTITY FOR THEMSELVES!!!! while at the same time being like "I love eroguro nansensu but i hate it when it has unnecessary gross fetish stuff (lit: erotic grotesque nonsense)" like it's giving "conservatism is punk ;P" to the nth degree im not even kidding like why do you call yourself a fan of the genre where people (ESPECIALLY "figures of innocence" like women, children, etc...) get raped and tortured and then complain that it's all raping and torturing innocents!!!! why do you play the porn game and then complain about how it focused too much on the porn!!!!! make it make sense!!! the big thing behind it is (if the literal NAME being "erotic grotesque nonsense" didn't make it clear enough) is the historical/ideological perspective on why eroguro nansensu IS the way it is, literally that during the reign of imperial japan and its extremely tight censorship laws against "Unseemly" material - The disturbing/grotesque (Whether outright gorey or "unseemly" depictions of "taboo" topics like incest, paedophilia, etc.), things that lacked intellectual/narrative depth (literally 'If you HAVE to do something Morally Unseemly then you better be doing it in a Morally Correct and God-Fearing way), and of course a quick 180 on the sexualisation of women into these Bastions of Purity that Shall Not be Sullied (Except, of course, when they are) In particular that in part persists even today among other things to which a HUGE underground portion of Japan's left-wing population, mainly consisting of anarchists and communists was like "check out this sick move lol" and started just making art, books and more consisting of all three - of course, the "nonsense" in question wasn't exactly as a result of the works themselves being "violence without meaning", since a majority of works ESPECIALLY around the time of WWII and post-WWII when eroguro had a brief revival focused on anti-war sentiments whether that was through the lens of the trauma of soldiers, the horrors of being orphaned, sexual violence against woman and children particularly, the famine and poverty, basically all the horrors war had to offer through a lens that was as disgusting and brutal as the atrocities themselves, but the "nonsense" came as a result of the argument "Well surely there must be a more succinct way to talk about these subjects like trauma!! this is just gross and fetishy and unnecessary!!" to which the reply was "yeah there are probably a million more palatable ways to tackle these themes, but so what. it's all nonsense and every bit as absurd and violent as the themes its based off of lol" bc you're not going to make a film calling out the horrors of fascism with intentions of getting across to anybody without making that the most horrific and unpalatable thing put to paper, like y'know. fascism is

It's not violence for violence's sake exactly, but violence for the sake that they have their right to portray whatever the hell they want the way they want it and it doesn't matter if you don't like that or are disturbed by it!! No one has any right to police that at the end of the day, if they don't like it they simply don't have to consume it lol

And it's like, some eroguro is focused more heavily on the erotic parts and some is focused more on the political/social aspects, some is focused mainly as a way to vent out previous traumas!! The famous "Shoujo Tsubaki" is a perfect example of all three (Guess what also gets lambasted as "just existing to watch a girl get unnecessarily tortured and raped" lmao, guess what!!!! that's the fucking point, it WASN'T necessary but it happened anyways!!! because that's what TRAUMA IS!!!!! now reflect on that)

i mean, there's just a million things to say at the end of the day. But most importantly if you're a self-proclaimed "Eroguro enjoyer" whose constantly calling out this and that ero-guro media (Whether VNs like Euphoria and Maggot Baits, anime/manga like Shoujo Tsubaki or High School Girl in Concrete (Which I cite very intentionally as something that gets misconstrued VERY badly), or even live action films like Salo or Strange Circus) for being "problematic" is just,,,, I don't know. Like it's clear enough that if you're fine with playing/watching/reading something where people get ripped to shreds but somehow have qualms and draw the line at there being kids involved or women being treated like objects I think beyond just trying to step back and figure out WHAT'S going on in your head to where only one of those things is an issue to you, you also need to step back and question what eroguro REALLY means to you. Because it's not just "anime girls getting gored", it's an art movement and one VERY, VERY heavily intertwined and based in politics like that. before you let yourself be repulsed maybe think about like. themes and messaging and shit and look at things with an actual artistic lens. i leave off with this very important post that sums up 99% of my yapping when it comes to basically anything in fandom anymore
