also, deer are simultaneously satan’s weakest and strongest soldiers. they die like hamsters or survive things that really should have killed them. biting the dust from an internal hemorrhage after jumping over a fence or surviving 10+ years with an arrow imbedded in their side. fate rolls the dice on every injury and they either get a 0 or a 20. keeping them alive is hard. killing them is also hard.

sam's stanford friend group must have been so fucked up considering what happened to so many of them like imagine you're luis from the pilot and your friend group consists of jessica who dies in a mysterious fire, sam who drops out of school after jess' death and then shows up in the news a few years later as a wanted murderer (who then dies and then suddenly isn't dead and then dies again and then tries to kill the president and then dies again), brady who had a complete personality shift partway through knowing him and then somehow skyrockets to being head of a pharmaceutical company within a few years of graduation and then is found murdered, zach who is accused of murdering his girlfriend and even once his name is cleared there's still video of someone who looks identical to him doing it, and becky who is weirdly unsuspicious of sam and zach. like luis from the pilot i hope you're doing lots of therapy.

i went to "mad at me" island expecting to find people i knew, something i understood. but when my boat landed, standing upon the shore were a million empty husks wearing my own face. every foot of the island was occupied, and everywhere i went, they watched me with contempt. they never spoke, never breathed. they simply watched. no matter how i grovelled and begged, snarled and cursed, tried to hide or kicked and hit, they simply stared. the hatred in their gaze was inescapable, but i could hardly return it, knowing that their doomed existence was of my own creation. knowing that the hatred was nobody's but my own. in the end i just wept, unable to stand the relentless gaze of my own infinite glare.
