I feel like amvs are so often forgotten in fandom culture, so here's a list of my favourites! All are on YouTube, and all credit goes to the original creators. the links should take you straight there. (the majority of these are spirk, but there's definitely variety!!) some of these are pretty popular, others obscure, but they're all amazing and you should totally check them out. I'm not a huge AOS fan but I played this on repeat for a week. Song is I'll Be Good by Jaymes Young, which is incredibly Jim Kirk coded. so so amazing 💙

You Had A Bad Day -Spock/McCoy *Slash* -- sobbing at this one, TOS and absolutely chefs kiss. scene selection is on point, it tells a full story. creator has found what I consider to be the holy grail of Bones' best angsty moments

Star Trek - This Is Me -- I will be preaching about this video for the rest of my fucking life. think of every positive adjective you can; they all do nothing to describe how wonderful this amv is. Greatest Showman is good on its own... when you add Star Trek into the mix something beautiful happens. an absolute anthem of positivity and inclusivity and everything Star Trek is at its heart. Clips taken from every show, but especially DS9, Discovery and the AOS movies!!! probably my favourite on the whole list 💙

Kathryn Janeway || Soldier -- I'm a big Voyager fan, and this is the perfect tribute to Janeway. It shows exactly how her character works, getting right into her head, and the whole thing is action packed. Paced spectacularly and argh just amazing

info dumping here but tdlr: i will likely be absent / not posting sims for a while

So with that thing that happened like two weeks ago that i already overshared here (and i still haven't get over it obviously) i wasn't feeling like playing but right now my cat (he's an oldie) is sick and the vet didn't say what is it yet. I'm just not with the best of moods atm. Seeing him like this breaks my heart and the comments everyone around me keeps making make me feel bad af. Like I know he's going to die someday, I know that, I'm super aware of it. But there's no need for the constant reminder and even if you remind me every single day, when it happens it will still be the worst day of my life. I don't even have words to explain how i feel.

Anyway, i also have an english certification exam in like 2 weeks, I'm back with classes and all. Pretty shitty. I guess this just isn't my lucky month.

I know you have playlists for individual characters, but do you have playlists for Beanstalked or Glitter and Guilt as a whole, or any of your stories for that matter? Do any songs in particular make you think of your stories overall whenever you listen to them?

I DO have playlists for my main stories, it's just that they aren't COMPLETELY accurate to how I hear my stories as I also include songs I relate to various characters in the story. So the music is kind of all over the place bc errbody is sharing.

For Beanstalked specifically, I lean more towards oldies or older sons from around the 70s to early 2000s range. I've realized a lot of the music I relate to that story are nostalgic songs I personally grew up fond of so it's a bit hard to really put into words what genre works for it sometimes.

It's kinda funny how people will expect fantasy-ish music for it but I keep having cook out hits cycling through my head

For Glitter and Guilt, it has more variety in its music. It's.gor, as I keep stating, 90s and 2000s RnB as well as more modern songs (that still lean in that direct in terms of sound). However, there's some songs like kpop and jpop included, especially Crystal Kay's stuff since Glitter and Guilt is more anime inspired.

If we are talkin' specific songs that make me think of each story, Whitney Houston's "Love Will Save the Day" gives me big af Beanstalked intro vibes like if it were an early Saturday morning (or in my very specific case--late night Jetix show).

And Crystal Kay's Kaede is def a Glitter and Guilt outro song. I like the concept of it playing while panning through landmarks in Decking City while it's night time.

glevil and hecctor hcs lets fukcing GO

glevils:

hc that glevil will tweak tf OUT when he gets upset/angry. like, he will turn into a glitching mess when he gets upset. i hc that hes like, a ai who gained sentience and found its way into a mannequins body. and, eventually, into a cult (or "family" as he would put it)

going back to my original point of him tweaking out, this only happens because hes unstable (like, physically, his coding wasn't finished), and that glitching mass he becomes fucking HURTS to come in contact w/. think taser but all over.

since hecctor cant exactly feel stuff (concrete + scarring), he will normally lay on glevil until glevil calms down and/or his glitching calms down. he has to be careful cause glevils wood is BRITTLE AF, the mannequin he possessed was an OLDIE /hj

hecctors:

he doesnt quite get what cuddling is, which is why he will literally just flop on glevil instead of, y'know, actually cuddling him 😭😭 he means well tho, also glevil doesn't mind. it gets the job done

the only reason he does what he does is because he still has SOME memories from wallter. all of them are very fuzzy though, he saw mark getting held (getting cuddled) so he copied it. he doesn't understand it though. most memories are just of mark (he cared to try and remember those the most because mark reminded him of glevil)

hecctor is easily startled by loud noises (mainly because there were lots of loud noises in the lab he was made in) so he had to wear shooting range level headphones when him and glevil go to places with lots if people

hecctor AND glevils:

glevil and hecctor bonk faces/air kiss everyday, it sounds.. funny. because its hallow wood and old concrete getting knocked together- what do you expect. they love doing it either way

sometimes glevil and hecctor will bake together even if none of them can eat (or open their mouth for that matter). glevil says its "to help hecctor learn to hold and grip stuff better", but he really just loves spending time w/ glevil

hecctor will write and sign about glevil ALL THE FUCKING TIME and glevil wont stop yapping to all the other mannequins about hecctor when he visits the hide out. like, EVER. somehow they will just be able to tslk on and on about eachother

they are autism (hecctor) and adhd (glevil), to me at least (projection BEAM)

Today I did a dance video from when NSYNC and Britney Spears were first famous... so like the early aughts... circa like 2000-2004. God I feel old but that's back from when I was a kid.

The guy was a choreographer for NSYNC and Britney Spears. It was entertaining and fun but not a good workout. It kinda got me out of a funk from earlier.

Anyway, it didn't feel like a really good workout and I wasn't wanting to do anything too high intensity today. My motivation to workout was low af. But I decided to add on Sweating to the Oldies 2 with Richard Simmons. Early in the pandemic he put up all his exercise videos on YouTube. I never checked them out til now but I think most are still up. I'm not sure if it's all of them. It was kinda perfect because it made me feel good doing it. Like, Richard Simmons has such infective happy energy. That workout video was from 80s or 90s but you could still feel that energy coming through. Still just as infectious.

A part of me feels like I should have done something more intense. I didn't finish it but my brain is good at telling me I didn't workout "right." I'm guessing that's the OCD talking. But I feel like I "should" be doing higher intensity workouts. But I know I'm being too hard on myself. It's probably also because I stress ate a small block of cheese today. So there's that. That and I didn't want to workout today so I think that's extra perfectionist guilt speaking.

I guess I should just be proud of myself for working out in the first place when I didn't want to so I'll try and focus on that.
