Dear IMVU,
Please stop giving your Customer Service Scripts to read and use people who actually read the help tickets.
I just spent THREE days trying to explain to one of your customer service reps that my MichaelMorbius account was not hacked. THEY gave away the user name and left me with MichaelMorbius_Old21 even though I had logged into the account less than a year ago.
What I wanted was either the old name restored (which was likely impossible since they had already given away the name, likely from their ridiculous premium name scam) or a name change token. It turned out they did leave me a name change token so I turned Morbius into a backup Dracula account (Drakulya) since I haven't really been a Morbius fan in years anyway. So now I have two Dracula names in my IMVU selection.
But because of an apparent language barrier and the customer service person not actually reading my replies to them, or skimming very badly- they thought I wanted the NEW MichaelMorbius account back after a hacking. No, you Social Network barely-not-a-bot.
I was pissed off because the account name (which did NOT have "guest" on it) was taken while I was in the hospital for two weeks. I had that name for years and had logged into it as recently as October. I'm glad they gave me the name change token but still annoyed they took a name I had paid for a decade ago under the assumption that the account was abandoned even though I had logged into it less than a year ago.
Oh, well. I prefer Dracula anyway.
Still, it should not have taken THREE days for the customer service person to accept I wasn't trying to get the current "MichaelMorbius" account back from a hacker. No matter how thoroguhly I explained what happened. "The information you gave us doesn't match the records on the account." because you're looking at the wrong account, I'm not trying to get back a hacked account, I'm complaining about IMVU snatching a paid for screen name away from an active account and leaving me with "_Old21" at the end of mine until I changed the name. By the way, IMVU has REALLY gone to Hell. It now has virtually every Internet red flag proudly waving on its main page. Crypto currency AND NFTs. You might as well have "For Old School uses: Click here to get robbed by a Nigerian Prince."

Interesting Encounter- Impromptu Story Time In Second Life During So Kawaii Sunday
For those of you who don't know, there are groups that you can join and get discounts on popular products within Second Life. Some of the most popular ones are So Kawaii Sundays for you cutie patooties out there. And the Saturday Sale. Of course, there are many others but that will be discussed in a future post. I needed to discuss this part to set the scene of what occurred. As everyone knows, everyone's Second Life experience is different. We encounter many people along our daily adventures. To be honest, me? not so much. I tend to keep to myself lately due to real-life burnout and overstimulation. However, when I do go out I'm always willing to chat and secretly crave it. But only you (the reader) and I need to know that.
Well, it's not every day someone hops into my DM's as for the most part everyone else is also keeping to themselves and just jumping shop to shop for the sale items. So when this happened I was a bit surprised but glad it did. I was at the landing point at the front of a store. Cool. A lot of the sale items were right there at the landing point so I didn't have to walk far to get what I needed. I hear the lovely message ping we all hear when someone DM's us. Because the person's profile in the upper right hand corner didn't look familiar I took a look. To keep this individual anonymous I will not be using their screen name for this story.
"Help, I can't take the part off."
"What part?"
"Take a guess?"
I couldn't help but laugh but at the same time my people-pleasing self is always willing to help people and the fact of the matter is out of all the people he could've messaged he chose me. I'm a firm believer that everything happens for a reason so I explained to him exactly how to remove the "part" he was referring to. I checked to be sure he had it all handled and I decided "You know what, dude's probably new, let me welcome him and help where I can." When I first started I didn't meet anyone that helped me until my Second or Third week into being on Second Life and it was the kindness of that one stranger that kept me around. Now I'm going on 13 years with my current account, with my past account which if I remember correctly I deleted or just forgot how to log into it but it was the account I had on the Teen Grid. I made a new account once the grids merged. That will also be another post in the future.
When I walked over, I said to him, "Did you get it all situated" he said yes, but I could tell in his typing tone that he was a bit frustrated. He was looking to add his chain to his character that he had and I told him how but he told me that he didn't know what it was called. I told him to search his inventory for "chain" to see if anything came up and provided him with a few inventory organization tips for moving forward. Apparently, his profile stated he was 5 months old but according to him he wasn't on that long he was on for about a week left and didn't come back and decided to try again. I'm telling you all it takes is one act of random kindness at a time, I asked him if he wanted to add me and I could help out and I didn't mind. He didn't add me but I did help him. Because of this encounter, he most likely will be back on.
It made me think though, IMVU has mentors on there why can't Second Life do the same? Gather a group of volunteers and either provide them for lindens for their time or provide them with a special profile tag or something and they live their Second Life but when there is someone who needs help or is new in an area they can come to you to ask questions, etc? I feel this would be extremely beneficial. I feel the tutorial island is a good start but what about when people are actually in the world and off of tutorial island? I feel there needs to be something put in place for new users to enjoy experiencing Second Life while being new. Thanks to the kindness of people that is why people stay on the Second Life platform is when they experience help to begin and then do their thing.
I felt this encounter was important to share and since I haven't been on Tumblr a lot because I keep forgetting to actually come on and write even though I'm on Second Life and IMVU it was time to post more content. I'm really surprised some of my followers have still stuck around with how spotty I am with my blogging haha.
Ahead of time, thank you for taking the time to read and support my blog it means a lot. I do this for fun and honestly just grateful that others are reading my content. I will be working on potentially making tutorial videos in Second Life to help others further. There are a lot on YouTube but after this interaction what's the harm in one more? Thank you for sticking around with me and I'll see you in the next post.

With its cutting-edge technology and innovative approach to software development, Metaverse Development Company is definitely one to watch out for in the years to come.
What is the Metaverse?
The Metaverse is a term first coined by science fiction writer Neal Stephenson in his 1992 novel Snow Crash. It is a shared, virtual space where people can meet and interact just as they do in the physical world. The Metaverse is also home to a variety of digital assets and experiences that can be bought, sold, or traded just like any other asset. Today, the Metaverse is being built by a number of companies including Microsoft, Amazon, and Google. These companies are investing billions of dollars into developing the infrastructure and platforms that will power the Metaverse. While the Metaverse is still in its early stages of development, it has the potential to revolutionize how we interact with each other and consume digital content.
What is a next gen company?
A next generation company, or “next-gen” company, is a type of business that uses innovative technologies to create new products or services. These businesses are often startups, but they can also be established companies that are undergoing digital transformation. Next-gen companies typically have a few things in common: they’re agile, they embrace change, and they’re constantly innovating. They’re also usually led by young entrepreneurs who are comfortable with risk and are eager to challenge the status quo. What sets next-gen companies apart from traditional businesses is their use of cutting-edge technologies. This could include anything from artificial intelligence (AI) and blockchain to virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR). By leveraging these emerging technologies, next-gen companies are able to create unique experiences and offer new solutions to old problems. So, if you’re looking for a business that is on the cutting edge of innovation and isn’t afraid to challenge the status quo, then a next-gen company is probably right for you!
What is a Metaverses Development Company?
A Metaverse Development Company is a next generation company that focuses on developing virtual reality experiences and applications for a variety of industries. These companies are at the forefront of cutting-edge technology and are constantly innovating to bring new and exciting VR experiences to the market. Things the Sims 4 Community Can Do About Paywalls...A Post...
[This is going to be a bit long, so you may want to save it and read it when you have time, or just...you know, buckle in.]
I thought I would ring in the new year by talking about something that I feel we as a community need to finally decide on. (It’s been debated since 2017 or so, and it’s now 2021...) I’d like, if possible, to try to suggest some real solutions and choices that we can make that will hopefully create a better and more honest community out of all of us.  Now I would like to start by making some postulates. In geometry, postulates are facts that do not need proven with a mathematical proof. They are assumed to be true. Thomas Jefferson and the founding fathers would call these “Self-Evident Truths”. I would like to use these as a bit of a basis for my arguments.
Truth: The Sims 4 has been enough of a cash cow for EA.  If you buy the base game ($40) plus all expansion packs (40 each x 10) + all game packs (20 each x 9) + all stuff packs (10 each x 17) you would come to a total of seven hundred and 90 dollars ($790) plus tax. This is of course, without sales, bundling, etc, which many people DO take advantage of, but STILL. That is a TON of money for EA’s pockets.  EA makes a majority of its money on the fact that the Sims 4 is an “incomplete game”. It “completes” the game further and further by adding more “expansions” to the game to the point that it seems almost useless to buy the base game alone without adding to it.
Even with sales and other things, it’s easy to spend over $500 dollars on the sims 4 game + expansions. Still a lot of cash for a game that is years old. This is just money that is spent on the game that goes to EA. This does not account for:  * Money spent to buy a new computer because your old one wouldn’t run the sims.  * Money spent supporting CC artists who have donations open or early access.  * Money spent on access to sites that have ads/paywalls/exclusive sims 4 CC such as Leosims, etc. (Which are the problem, frankly)
We should be able to respect the fact that a majority of us paid a hefty amount for this game. It is unfair, and frankly greedy to REQUIRE people to pay MORE just to unlock or gain access to specific user created content.
I am not talking about a VOLUNTARY support or donation because they like what you offer. I am talking about FORCING people to pay if they want to ever be able to use the CC or mod you offer.
Now, the typical defense for this is “Well, I’m an artist! I spend time/effort/etc working hard on these meshes, the code, etc to make this content!”  Which leads me to point #2.
Tumblr media
Truth: Mods, CC, and other content for the Sims 4 are useless without the game. Once they are created/uploaded to the game, all copyright to those objects IMMEDIATELY transfers to EA.
I teach art in a Missouri public school. Our state standards dictate that when art students are in middle school grades, they have to learn about copyright, fair use, and creative commons. While I am not a copyright lawyer, I have had to learn enough about this subject to teach it. So allow me to break down a few facts about copyright:
First, when ya make it, ya own it. There’s not a process to apply for a copyright. The moment you create something that is 100% your own work, you hold the copyright to it.
Second, when you make something that is created based off of or USING someone else’s intellectual property as a reference or resource it is a fan creation. In art, we call this “fanart”. It is not 100% your own work. Someone else’s intellectual property is involved.
Fan creations always have tread a very thin and shadowy line when it comes to different companies and the legality of them. You can easily search google for various articles explaining it, but to summarize it in a short method:
Most companies do not actively go after those who create fan creations unless they are making profits that could instead be going to the creators of the intellectual property. If the fan creation is discovered to be making profits and/or taking the intellectual property in a direction the creator does not approve of, they have legal options to pursue (court, cease and desist letters, etc).
Third, Copyright can be transferred from person to person. In most cases this is done through a written document that both parties sign, however there IS an exception to this that EA uses to allow itself to transfer your copyrights to your content to them:
Tumblr media
EA’s agreement with you is non-exclusive, meaning that the moment you hit “agree” on the sims 4 terms and conditions, you have handed over your rights to any CC you create for the game.
If you want to maintain full creative rights over the mesh/mods/etc you make then, you have to not make that content for the sims 4 and make your own platform to host it on. This is way easier said than done.
Truth: There have been various examples in the past of CC creators who have stolen meshes, bases, bits/pieces of work, or “inspiration” for CC from other sites/companies, who have been called on it publicly.
The most recent event concerning this was drama concerning itsbrandysims and their use of meshes from imvu/secondlife (you can see my opinion on the subject HERE), but there have been other documented cases. Leosims, for example, has been listed as an example of someone taking meshes from secondlife creators and reuploading them (when it was told to me, I was shown THIS thread as evidence). Another well known creator was accused by a former sims 4 cc creator (who now makes content from second life), and was called out in THIS post in 2019.
The horrible part of this? Many of these creators are charging people (often at not so great rates as well), for STOLEN content. Content they don’t even own, that they ripped from another place. This should not be accepted by a community that loves a game as much as the Sims 4 community.  Truth: EA has provided a way for people to make money while not hiding content behind paywalls entirely, and the INTENT of this was to OFFSET COSTS.  Almost every post about content locked behind paywalls features this post found on the Sims Forum from 2017. In it, SimGuruDrake, who was the community manager at the time (she has since left the Sims 4 team for another job).  Most of you who have seen this discussion topic before know this post by heart, but I’d like to highlight one important aspect of it:
Tumblr media
One thing that is always important about communication is the intent behind it. The intent for people to be allowed to make patreons and allow early access wasn’t so people could just make money for themselves, the idea was to offset costs to buy programs to make the content. For example, a yearly subscription to Adobe Creative Cloud (which has photoshop, illustrator, etc) costs a couple hundred dollars US a year. If someone was using photoshop to help them create their CC in addition to blender or other free programs, EA/Maxis wanted to allow the creator to not have to pay for making the CC out of pocket.  Can EA/Maxis control what people spend the money they make off of patreon on? No. But it should be noted that the intent of this action was to help people pay for supplies for their hobby more than to make a business out of it.
Onto the next truth! Truth: There is an image that disputes this post above, however the authenticity of it and timing of it are very disputed.
Tumblr media
This image is often thrown around by people who lock content behind paywalls, but I would like to take a second and try to provide an honest assessment of it.  First of all, I have a bit of a problem with the fact that the original person who “messaged” SimGuruDrake this question has not been identified. This image was not posted on the tumblr of a CC creator who claimed “Hey I reached out to a sims guru and this is the answer I got!” The main pages that have this image are either tweets from CC creators using it to defend their stance on paywalls (ex: here), or tumblrs/tweets “debunking it” (ex: here, here).  I even reverse image searched this image using google, and another platform and could not figure out where this originated from. Of course, I’m not an expert, but...still.
Tumblr media
The fact that the origin of this picture is unknown casts doubt on it. If it were a well known CC maker who is known for being honest, that’s one thing. But the fact that we don’t exactly know where it came from is suspicious. Because frankly, anyone with some decent editing ability could photoshop this.
Tumblr media
Here’s my imperfect edit, but I’m just a self-taught graphics nerd and I am not as dedicated at faking screenshots as some. (And the crap photo quality didn’t help.) Another common issue is that at the supposed “time” that this question was being asked, some state that SimsGuruDrake had already left the Sims 4 team. I will admit, this photo is within the correct timeline, as SimsGuruDrake did not officially depart the sims 4 team until February 2018. (There is a post on the sims forums that has a timestamp that confirms this.) But, if you were in the process of leaving your job within the next month (as a two week/30 day notice is common when leaving a job), would you REALLY be answering questions in DMs on twitter, or be focusing on packing up, and training your successor?  The last thing that really makes me doubt the validity of this picture is the fact that it’s not really easy to message the sims gurus on Twitter. This appears to be twitter from the screenshot (although there are some things that are a little out of place from the current UI): But when I attempt to direct message a sims guru I get this message:
Tumblr media
I even tried seeing if I could reach out via DM to Drake herself, (who now posts under a different twitter) to see if it was possible:
Tumblr media
Could the policies have changed since 2018? Possibly, but I feel that opening up direct messages is just asking for Sims 4 team members to get angry messages, so this could very well be a long running EA policy. I have also reached out to her via a twitter tag (as of 1/2/21), and will update y’all if I get a reply:
Tumblr media
Okay, so now that we’ve gone through all of this, let’s talk about the last truth that’s really important:  Truth: Putting content behind paywalls has generally been considered disgusting by many in the sims 4 community, and TAKES AWAY the choice of people to support CC creators they love/appreciate WILLINGLY.  A few notable posts sharing the disgust with this practice can be found: HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE & HERE). And these are just what I can find from a simple precursory search.
Okay, Brainiac. So what can we do to solve this problem?
Well, there’s a few methods we can employ, and sadly, it’s going to take a bit of a commitment and concentrated effort from the community.
Step #1: Make the COMMUNITY the VICTIM instead of EA.
Now when I say this, I don’t mean we’re actually victims, but mean that instead of constantly saying things like “WHEN YOU DO THIS YOU VIOLATE EA’S TOU!”, thus making EA the “victim” of the crime. We change the dialog to saying “When you lock stuff behind paywalls, you cheat the sims 4 community and disrespect their choice to support you or not.”  Because let’s be honest. Maxis/EA really doesn’t give much of a care about if people aren’t following this rule. You can report people to the team, but as far as most people have seen, it doesn’t get anywhere. But if we make it where the community is the party being “wronged” it is much harder for those who have paywalls to not be scared. Because the community, in the end, has to be with them.  DepthofPixels had a really amazing post about this HERE.
Step 2: Decide to not support anyone who puts their content behind exclusive paywalls and do not hesitate to spread the word about why you choose not to do so.
By that, I mean
not paying any patreon accounts that don’t offer either their content 100% for free, or offer early access.
And sharing about why you choose to do that on your social media. Something I might suggest would be to make it a bit personal and share something like:
Instead of spending $15 a month to get exclusive content from Leosims (or any other patreon/paywall creator here) I’m spending that $15 supporting creator x, creator y, and creator z, who don’t put their work behind paywalls!
Link their patrons, share why you like their content, and why you take the stance to make the community better. Make it a positive thing, praising the people who are doing RIGHT by the community.
Yes, you may not get their content for a while (although there are some different places (
x
,
x
) to find them *cough*. But in the end, is it worth supporting someone’s content when they’re treating the community badly?
Step 3: Report creators who actively steal content from IMVU/secondlife to those respective companies, and all others to EA. (Even though nothing may happen.)
Here’s the deal. When people steal from either of those sites, they are infringing on someone’s copyright, as well as Imvu/secondlife’s copyright as well. It’s not okay, and they should be held accountable for it. Here’s the LINK for submitting a ticket to Secondlife. I haven’t been able to find one for IMVU, but maybe someone else will find one. Let those companies know and allow them to handle those specific creators.  As to the other creators, EA may not handle them at the moment. But IF (and this is a wishful thinking “if”) there were suddenly a flood of messages about certain creators...? I think they might have to pay attention to some of those messages. There is an official report form, but it might even be worth tweeting to SleddingGuruFrost, who is the current community manager asking about their stance on paywalls.  And last but not least:
Step 4: Make sure that those who are doing the right thing and not putting their work behind paywalls feel appreciated. Show them some love via a tumblr ask, or by tagging them on twitter, or by going up a tier on their patreon (or pledging for the first time). Celebrate these heroes who are creating content and not forcing it on us.
Us asking for people to give us a choice to support them isn’t being greedy, or disrespecting their time. We just want transparency, and respect from those who create content for the game we love so much versus them treating us like we’re just a source of income. I know it might seem a bit hard to do this for some of you, and for some it may seem like I’m preaching to the choir, but we have to decide where we stand on this issue and stop letting those who abuse this system keep doing it. We can make a difference if we decide as a COMMUNITY to work together.
With commitment,  ~Sunny

IMVU: NUMBER ONE 3D CHAT OR NUMBER ONE CHEAT?
Tumblr media
Let me begin this article by saying that I was very hesitant to write it. Mainly because this is not what Reality Check does. But after talking extensively with the subject and doing some further investigation, it intrigued me enough to tackle it.
Let us begin with some context, the subject of the article is about an IMVU user named YukuS, age 35.
For those who do not know what IMVU is, IMVU Inc., is an online metaverse and social game. IMVU was founded in 2004 and was originally backed by venture investors Menlo Ventures, AllegisCyber Capital, Bridgescale Partners, and Best Buy Capital. IMVU members use 3D avatars to meet new people, chat, create, and play games.
It was apparently one of the foundations of 3D chat much like Second life which came after it.
Sixteen years later it is still the number one 3D App on the market.
Now that we know who IMVU is, let me introduce YukuS.
YukuS (her username) became a member of IMVU in 2006. A couple of months later she became what is called a developer.
A developer on IMVU is someone who creates content for other members to use. This can be clothing, pets, apartments, scenery, you name it. When other users create this content, developers get credit which can be used to buy content on IMVU, music, and even exchanged for actual cash.
YukuS had created a substantial amount of content, and by her omission accumulated a substantial amount of credit (by her estimate over one million). She also forged various friendships over the years. From college to her mid-twenties she was an avid user of the IMVU platform.
But like all things, real life stepped in. YukuS got a real job and took part in the real world. IMVU had to take a backseat. But from time to time as she explained it, YukuS would go on and say hi to old friends, make new ones, and then use her years of hard earned credits from content she painstakingly created to go and purchase other content for her avatar.
This is the part of the story where we come to the plot.
YukuS like many of us found herself confined to her home due to the COVID-19 pandemic. So, like many of us, she decided to take this time of confinement to dive back into IMVU. Only there was a problem.
YukuS logged on to find out that her account was restricted.
She had access to log into her account and use her old items, she could communicate with old friends and accept requests from new ones, but she no longer had access to use the over million dollars credits she accumulated, even though she received notifications that her items were still being purchased from users.
She also could not develop new content, which meant she could not upload the new line of products she had created for the last six months.
The reason for the restriction, a missed email requested verification of her email account due to not hearing from her for an allotted time.
YukuS answered the email hoping it would solve the issue. It did not.
She took the next step in reaching out to customer service creating a ticket (IMVU case #03332021) in hopes that they could assist her with the issue. In IMVU’s defense, they like many other companies currently have a reduced staff due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The customer support person she spoke to was named Glenn.
From her explanation, he asked her several questions to verify that she was the owner of the account which she answered. To her admission, one or two of the questions she did not remember due to it being over a decade since she opened the account.
After Glenn informed her that she missed some questions, his next request was for YukuS to submit a picture of herself holding up her government ID for verification in order to reinstate her account.
This made YukuS extremely uncomfortable, and she refused to do so.
Objectively speaking in the age of digital identity theft, I am inclined to agree with YukuS’s decision. It is a bit of an extreme request especially for a 3D social media platform. YukuS decided to do the alternative, which was send a screen shot of her email account showing that her account was still active and still getting emails from IMVU which also included purchases made by users.
Here we now come to the climax of this tale.
On October 17th, 2020 when YukuS attempted to log into her account, she was unable to. Thinking that she forgot her password she did a reset, except it was not allowing her to log in via her username but her email address.
Finally, able to log in she was in shock and horror (her words) to find that her account was no more. Instead YukuS’s profile of a 35-year-old female originally from New York, USA was replaced by a profile named awe2, a 26-year-old female from Indonesia.
As she researched further, her account was disabled, her content removed from the site, her over one million credits was gone along with items she had purchased over the years. She also no longer had contact with her many friends on IMVU.
By now you are probably saying to yourself, “So what is the big deal, she lost her account. It sucks but it’s not the end of the world.
The problem is that for someone like YukuS, it is a big deal, it is a huge big deal.
YukuS is a young woman who suffers from a series of mental issues, she needs to take medication and see a professional in order to deal with these issues, and a 3D platform such as IMVU was an outlet that allowed her to deal with those issues.
The reason why I am writing about this is because I know YukuS, she is a friend of mine, and on October 17th, 2020 I had to talk a mentally traumatized thirty-five year old woman reduced to a sobbing child off a fucking ledge in the middle of the worse pandemic in the history of this country where isolation is key.
So as much as I am attempting to be objective with this article, I am a little bit pissed off as I write it.
I am assuming that like everyone else IMVU is supposed to be there for its patrons.
So, what happened?
Why did it fail to be there for YukuS?
Delay in communication is understandable, everyone all over the world are in uncharted waters in regard to this pandemic.
But why the hell would you delete a fourteen-year-old account of one of your developers that housed over one million credits that she earned?
Why would you do this in the middle of a pandemic where social distancing is key, and citizens are urged to stay inside? Where your platform is one of the key platforms of communication to the outside world for people like YukuS?
I never got into the whole 3D avatar platform thing; I have no interest of talking to a girl avatar controlled by a fat guy in his momma’s basement. Nor do I wish to be asked to go onto another chat so I can be coaxed to show my tits (Looking at you Second Life).
The only avatar I was happy to own is my Pokémon GO trainer avatar. Been trying to catch them all since 2014.
As I write this article, I began to realize why I decided to take it on.
I found the Reality Check.
In this time of uncertainty, where we are apart from our loved ones, it is extremely important to try and connect with them, especially with those with mental health issues. Because as much as companies like IMVU, celebrities, and politicians are there for you, they really are not and cannot be.
For all those mentioned, their main priority is to protect their bottom line, their image, or both.
If we’re all going to make it through this, it is our job to take care of the ones we love, it’s our job to pick up the phone, send a text, or do a video chat with the people we care about in our lives, to make sure that they are okay, and will be okay when this all ends.
IMVU from what I can tell failed YukuS in her most fragile moment. The cost for me was over one hundred and forty dollars to Uber Eats sending her wine and Chinese take out so that we can eat and drink together over video chat.
We talked for hours until the wine was done, and our eyes got heavy, but it was worth it.
Later in the afternoon before I wrote this article, I checked in with YukuS.
She will not delete the IMVU app in hopes that someone from IMVU will contact her and fix the damage that was done, but I got her to open a Pokémon GO account.
It will not replace the years of hard work she put into IMVU, but I think she will have more fun especially once the isolation mandate is lifted. Also, with the remote raid passes coming out, she will have a lot of fun getting some shinies and legendries.
To remain objective, I humbly invite IMVU to respond to this article. I and hopefully many others including their current customers would love to hear their side of this story.
Also, YukuS has given me permission to post images of her email to showing only her IMVU activity to confirm that everything in this article is accurate (SEE BELOW).
This has been another Reality Check.

Why has Nika changed her first name to Paris and why is this “Paris” following and friends with a MINOR(Asiapoohvu) on imvu???
CRAVEYDIVAxBH user = 241132489
She’s 28 and is friends/following 16-13 year olds on vu... she’s kind of doing a predator move and that’s not allowed on vu... she’s a creeper for sure. awareness is important, please don’t let her get away with these crimes. because in real life, a 28 year old going after a 16 year old or 13 year old is ILLEGAL.

Hello,
I am CountVladDracula on IMVU.  And apparently I’ve been deemed “an idiot to avoid”.
Some blog called “Idiots of IMVU” has put me on their “list of people to avoid.”
Tumblr media
Considering I am extremely selective of who I role play with and where this seems quite odd to me.  I’d like to know who I offended that they felt the need to slander and lie about me to an RP community.   I rarely even discuss role play here on Tumblr but after receiving this message I felt the need to make a statement.
I have role played since 1996.  Starting on AOL in the AOL Chat rooms in Rhydin.  Then I played in Yahoo Groups, moving on to IMVU in 2006.
I have played tabletop.  I have played para / novella, I have played T1.  I have played TBL.    I have played FUDGE system and I have played on Tumblr (to a far lesser extent).
If you’re going to insult me or Slanderize me, you could try not be such a lying coward in the process.
By the way, I have 19 alts on IMVU.   Chances are while you’re bad mouthing one, you might actually be friends with the other.  A little food for thought.  I don’t always play cannon characters, nor are all my characters male.   (I’m a woman in real life).
And if you wish to pretend I don’t know the various incarnations of Dracula, know this.   I have read Stoker’s novel, watched over a hundred Dracula movies (there are two hundred and change films about Dracula), read Tomb of Dracula,   Fred Saberhagen’s Dracula books, Fear the Light by William Messa, In Search of Dracula,  and various other off-canon incarnations.  I attended Frank Wildhorn’s Dracula the musical when it was on Broadway, and wrote the introduction to the Saberhagen Vampire Tales currently available on Amazon.
Was someone bitter because I have no love for the “brilliant” NBC Dracula series?  Or is it worse than that?  Is someone angry because I’m openly against the harassment of role players and bullying until they delete their account or change their screen name and pretending that’s normal for role play?
I am thirty-seven-years-old.  I have role played since- likely before you were even  born.  I have no patience for idiocy and slander.  I never asked to be a part of some petty online drama but if you’re going to add me to a list to slanderize me and beltitle something I’ve done for over twenty-years, the world should know the truth.
You have a lot of explaining to do considering I almost never role play in public room settings.  I’m an exclusively private RPer unless someone specifically asks me to go to their public room.   I haven’t played publicly in nearly five years except when asked to go to certain rooms like The Dragon’s Egg inn (which I am an emergency Moderator for).
So you wanna dance with me, let’s dance.
Update:
So apparently their reason for having me on said list is I’m a “bully” who ‘derails topics” in the RP forum.   I’m a “bully” for... having rules?
No, I don’t “Attack” those who don’t play the way I like.  I simply don’t play with them and I guess that’s “bullying” now.
When you play someone like Count Dracula you get a lot of solicitations from “child vampires” (who somehow are over a thousand years old) wanting a father to raise them, angry werewolves who think their drool will kill the literary character, to versions of Mina that (no Joke) were “Sent to Hell for loving Dracula” and “now Rules Hell.”    So of course I’m a LITTLE selective about the stories I want to get involved with and the RP styles I get involved in.   But I don’t attack.  I’m a role player, not a real vampire.
Also...  Is this list doing precisely what they seem to be accusing me of doing when i won’t even give out the names of players I find to be unpleasant?  Pot meet kettle.  Seems to me like someone is bitter I won’t play with them and hopes to isolate me by getting strangers to auto-block.    That’s fine.

Judging a Book by It’s Cover
Tumblr media
I have always believed that an avatar is a blank canvas in which we make uniquely and authentically ours. An avatar is how we want to be perceived by those around us. However, there are always situations in which people jump to conclusions and start their own drama based around avatar appearance. I find avatar creation a type of visual expression of the player that embodies their virtual selves. A lot of individuals feel threatened by people who are comfortable being their true selves. Because they are happy, they feel the need to interfere. "Why should so and so be happy if I can't be?" makes you wonder about the actual instability of individuals who inhabit some of these virtual environments. I have always perceived Second Life as somewhat of a virtual world trash bin. It is a fantastic virtual world if you meet the right people and hang out in the right places. I'll be honest; I'm not going to sugar coat it. I still enter Second Life, recently it's been sparse since I'm a teacher in a global pandemic. Yet, the time I do spend in this virtual world has lately been drama-free. Not to say that it was not before, but I tend to randomly find myself in the middle of the newest gossip right when I come back, whether it be from a hiatus, etc.
Second Life has a type of standard for avatars. If you don't look a specific way or in most people's eyes, you're not an "updated" avatar with the newest products and meshes, you are considered a noob or problematic to those around you. This is a reason I am not on Second Life as much as I was back around January. Negativity is so draining, why is it anyone's concern as to how you want yourself to look? I love virtual worlds for the pure fact that individuals can recreate themselves. Avatars are a modern extension of our own personality traits. Insulting the appearance of an avatar is the same as insulting the person. As cliché as this may sound, Why judge a book by its cover if you haven't attempted to read at least the first page? People are too quick to judge, and that's what's wrong with today's society of millennial's and gen z's. I'm the awkward middle man between the two generations. Honestly, it's safe to say that I sometimes wish I wasn't born in the era I currently live. Does anyone get the feeling like they want to live, but they just do not want to be "here" like on earth? I feel this way a lot of the time. I recently read the most heartbreaking post to me as someone who believes and cares so much about self-expression and avatar image/positivity. Apparently, in Second Life, there is a Roleplay sim by the name of Chi Tau City. A blogger here on Tumblr that helps me get through my writer's block by adding me into posts to discuss particular situations.
@thefallenbeast-imvu-stuff ran into an issue with the owner of this sim regarding his virtual appearance. What does it matter? What does it matter if an individual isn't wearing mesh? What if a person does not want to be fully updated? I know many Second Life users who do not want to update to the newest meshes. They are extremely expensive and let us be honest, I could spend that money on so many other things. But let's be honest here he was completely updated and was 100% confident and authentic because it's how he wanted to be perceived by other users. Why should it matter how an avatar looks? If your so bothered, block the avatar, but do not bring your drama into other people's lives who are minding their own business and living their best lives.
This user hasn't been on the sim in a very long time. I feel if you're a sim owner, yes, you are allowed to decide who can and cannot be on your sims. Sims are expensive, and if they own it, they should have a say. However, there is a sense of professionalism that comes with running a sim, especially a Roleplay sim. Many people will enter a day you created this sim because you wanted to share your idea and experience with a large community of individuals. With this community of individuals comes avatars of all styles, new and old, mesh and non-mesh. If you have an issue with avatar appearance, then you most likely have a problem with both yourself and many people in your reality. Most likely, this individual suffers from low self-confidence and finds it within the sim she had created. This is because when you have a sense of power, and you use it for a negative cause, you start to notice the effects in real-time. I will be honest with all of you. It is individuals like this sim owner who I feel incredibly sorry for. If you find more solace in judging an avatar's appearance rather than their actions, that is just extremely shallow.
Note to this individual who feels they should judge another based on the appearance of their avatar: Please, next time you decide to make standards of how avatars should look, please update yours in the process and stop being petty because you feel threatened from your reality not going as you planned. Taking your emotions out inside of a virtual world is not going to serve a purpose. It is only going to come back to bite you in the end.
In conclusion, if you have the need to judge someone based on their looks rather than their personality, you are what is wrong in these virtual worlds and their communities. I do not sugar coat things, and I do not cover up the obvious if you don't like what I have to say and the opinions I project, please kindly leave or don't read my posts. Thank you! And I hope to see a lot of you in my upcoming posts. I do apologize for not posting as often as I usually do as real Life has gotten in the way. Still, I hope this post brings some positivity into your virtual lives. Always feel confident in the way you project yourself through your avatar as long as you are confident and like the way you look, why does it matter to anyone else? I would not support any sims that judge based on appearance instead of action, but that's just me.
Until next post!

From Steve Jobs to ArtCenter: Meet Designer Victor Zaud
Tumblr media
ArtCenter: What are you working on right now? Victor Zaud (BFA 91 Graphic Design), Head of Marketing, IMVU: IMVU is a 3D, immersive social platform where users tap avatars to meet new people and build deeper friendships with those know. It’s also the largest community of 3D artists creating products (fashions, experiences and more) users can buy. This is the “second wave of social” — a new way to connect online, post-Facebook and other social “publishing” tools.
AC: Describe a moment in your childhood where you first identified as a designer. VZ: When I was in high school, everything changed when I saw the Macintosh. I saw the future, and saw myself doing something with a Mac. I couldn’t afford one, so I started visiting a nearby ComputerLand — the way you might visit a car dealership to stare at a shiny, new Mustang. The store manager encouraged me to “play on it” because it was good for business. Every day after school, I’d walk three miles from Monta Vista High School to the store to use it, and the Mac Gazette newsletter was born.
AC: How did this lead you to Steve Jobs and Apple? VZ: I sent a copy of my Macintosh Newsletter to Steve Jobs, who passed it along to Tom Hughes in Creative Services. Tom reached out and offered to meet with me. Soon after, I started visiting Tom at the office; he let me use the copy machine for my newsletter and one of the extra Mac’s, which was right across from Steve’s office. I was in heaven the summer of ’86 when I started my internship at Apple Creative Services. I met so many people who influenced me, including Cheryl Dalton Moreno, who introduced me to ArtCenter, and Clement Mok. After graduating, I worked for Clement, and his friendship and mentoring over the years has shaped my life.
Tumblr media
AC: How do you define success? VZ: Success in business for me is something turning out the way I envisioned and has a measurable impact that creates an increase in revenue, brand awareness or simply joy for the audience.
AC: What’s the most unique thing you’ve designed? VZ:  There have been a lot of “firsts” — starting with the packaging for the Republic of Tea, but I think the most unique thing I’ve designed is the to-go box for Sugarfish. The goal was to design something that would feel as special and coveted as the sushi inside — plus, it needed to instantly communicate, like the Tiffany’s blue box. Functionally, I modeled it after origami from an old Japanese pattern book (with some modifications) and experimented tirelessly so it could be assembled without glue.
Tumblr media
AC: What’s the design cliché you’re most tempted to use? VZ: Less is more.
AC: What’s your most prized possession? VZ: My Leica SL.
AC: If you could trade jobs with anyone for a day who would it be? VZ: Jony Ive — I’d just love to be in that mindset of defining experiences across hardware, software and environments at the scale of Apple.
AC: What book is on your bedside table? VZ: No More Mr. Nice Guy.
Tumblr media
AC: Who are the most interesting designers working today? VZ: I’m sadly out of touch on this subject. I have my favorite artists and designers, but I can’t imagine I have a sense of who’s the most interesting. I love seeing Kevin Tachman’s photos in the fashion world; he always surprises me with interesting lighting and effects. I love being inspired by some of the original Disney animators and artists who shaped what would become the foundation of animation illustration, like ArtCenter instructor Bernyce Polifka. I have friends whose work I admire: Clement Mok, Robert Brunner, Rebecca Mendez and Kit Hinrichs.
AC: If you could have a superpower, what would it be? VZ: Turn back time.
AC: What’s your most irrational or rational fear? VZ: That a client will be disappointed. It’s hard to sit with even if I know what we’ve done is right. In the end, I believe my job is about problem-solving, not satisfying my creative desires.
Tumblr media
AC: Where is your happy place? VZ: At my simple home in the woods by the beach with my wife, Jessie McAnulty, (also an Art Center alum) and my two sons, listening to them play music. When I hear them all playing together, I just beam that I helped in a tiny way to make that happen.
AC: How would your closest friend describe you? VZ: A nerd and a foodie who loves cars, and jazz, and everything Japanese.
AC: What’s your best piece of advice for an ArtCenter student who’s interested in following your career path? VZ: Build your “creativity muscle” up as much as possible at ArtCenter. Come up with lots of ideas you think are great for a particular project — and then force yourself to go further and come up with one more. That’s the solution that’s often the best. Build that muscle up as much as you can now. It will really distinguish you later.
