coping with things so well today so i’m bragging about it ✨
#had a SMALL emotional reaction to something but then like breathed through it and was very normal#and then something that might’ve made me feel kinda alone and insecure a year or two ago#actually just made me feel happy which is a MUCH preferable reaction#and one that matches the reaction in my head#my emotions are not me#they tell me things but they’re only a piece of the puzzle and I can still decide how I process things beyond the immediate emotions#also did a bunch more organizing of my stuff for packing#and wrote things in my planner for the first few weeks of school#I already have several plans and events!!!!#and instead of pushing someone away I suggested some plans a few months away#bc that gives both of us kinda a sense of security in the friendship?#they’re worried about losing me with me going back to school#and I’m worried about losing them bc they have kinda a major obsession w/ someone else rn#(which is pretty cute when my brain isn’t being an insecure dick)#so this makes us both be like ‘even if things change we still have plans and our friendship will withstand those changes’#anyway gonna get ready to go walk up a big hill for fresh air#today has been a good day overall#OH AND ANOTHER FRIEND DROPPED BY OUT OF THE BLUE#AND GAVE ME A HAND SEWN EMBROIDERED CHARM FOR BACK-TO-SCHOOL!!!!#and a little card about how they’re proud of me and will be there for me on this journey!#god now I’m gonna cry#I have the most amazing friends in the whole freakin world#personal

#song of the day#I just remembered to go back and edit this song file on my comp so it has the correct artist#it was so stupid funny--last week-ish Duncan and I were talking about the playlist I'd made for him to veto things off of#(neither of the boys are any good at telling me what songs of mine they /do/ like so we've landed on this variably-successful strategy#where instead I make a playlist of my best guesses for their taste and then as it plays through they tell me which songs I was wrong about)#and we got to 'Brown Chicken Brown Cow' by Trace Adkins and I was like 'yeah you probably don't want this one do you'#and he was like *extremely flat expression* No. Thanks.#and I told him I'd already remembered to remove 'Ala-Freakin-Bama' (also by Trace Adkins. same album and all) so I should get partial credi#and he was like mm. sure.#and I told him how I'd started with my 'all country music on my laptop' playlist for scaffolding#and then added in pretty much everything I had by other artists he'd seemed to enjoy before#(Duncan's more tolerant of this playlist-winnowing process than Nick is so his playlist starts with a much wider net#Nick's playlist I was a lot more cautious with because if I lose him at an early stage we'll never get a successful final product)#anyhow so Duncan rolled his eyes so mightily at the mention of Ala-Freakin-Bama and I was like actually you know what#here's all the songs I have by Trace Adkins. tell me which ones you /do/ want and we'll pull all the rest now (to save your eyeballs)#and he looked over the whole list (about twenty songs) and finally he said 'oh! Watermelon Crawl! I do like that one. at least there's one'#and I had to laugh and tell him 'actually I'm pretty sure that's mislabeled. that's a Tracy Byrd song' and he rolled his eyes again#turns out there's actually no Trace Adkins song Duncan will tolerate! no respect for the artistry of the Honky-Tonk Badonkadonk

Right now, I am freakin hot because it’s like 90 degrees or something and I’m in the SHADE 😭 My siblings and some of my cousins are swimming and I’m chilling on the porch making sure they don’t kill each other lol.
I’ve been quite tired this past week, which hasn’t been very fun (it’s the sort of tired that sticks with you and makes you a lil miserable & overwhelmed) and I really hope I can get un-tired soon! Me and my family are going on a road trip tomorrow and I’m looking forward to that :) Perhaps that will knock the tiredness out of me. I freaking love road trips oh my goshhhh
But yeah, overall I’d say I’m doing alright! Not super good, not super bad, just sort of in the middle XD

today my capstone professor told me that she really appreciates that i have strong opinions about what i make and that i am engaging with my work in a way that she doesn't often see in undergrads & last week my furniture professor said that my notes in the sketchbook i keep for school are "excellent" and "museum quality, even" and like other people have been making similar comments to me it feels really awesome :~)

#every time every freakin time I decide to trust the secondary artist to do clean up on my layouts i am punished#i tell them every time 'my work is a guideline for you. you need to go in and fix it for your final art'#and then they send me back a file where the shading layer is the blocks and imprecise lines based on my sketch#so I have to go and clean it myself and redo a bunch of stuff#and then I just get to hear “oh wow their art is sooo good they've gotten so much better!”#staring into the camera like in the fucking office you guys know how much visual information i have to give them im drawing the entire sket#and when they go off my sketch and draw their own stuff it doesnt look right but When I say im going to ask for a revision they are like#'oh youre focusing too much on it'#HUH whAT am I NOT BEING PAID TO MAKE SURE THE ART LOOKS GOOD#i swear#okay deep breaths im fine im normal time do go shade a background i guess#wild ramblings
