As a Spirk Truther, I was very interested in the Spock/La'an vibes of Strange New Worlds season 1 and am absolutely vindicated at the Jim/La'an twist. Now I can polyship with genuine chemistry

I’ve run into a fic where Amanda helps Jim try to ask out Spock while Sarek helps out Spock with it

But I think it’d be funnier if they switched them around, like Amanda helping out Spock since as a Human she knows what Humans like! Except she doesn’t realize that because she’s embraced Vulcan culture so much for quite a few years her advice is…. yeah

Meanwhile, Sarek has decided that Jim should logically listen to him for advice since they raised Spock as mostly a Vulcan, unfortunately, Sarek has a hard time actually communicating so a huge majority of his advice is vague, and he’s kind of off putting to Jim to deal with

I'm thinking about Gillian Taylor, lesbian (in my heart), standing on that stolen bird-of-prey on their way back to the 23rd century, and trying to figure out the correct way to (tactfully) ask if Kirk and Spock are gay.

Back in the 80s, she'd just assumed that they were gay. I mean, dressed like that? She'd also, however, assumed that they were on drugs, probably a hallucinogen of some kind, which - turned out to be not quite true. So, really, anything was fair game, now, and she no longer knew if they were gay. Maybe that's just how men in the 23rd century were with each other.

She tried to watch, to analyze their actions objectively, but with how busy they were making sure that the ship didn't explode, they weren't really interacting all that closely with one another, and she truly couldn't tell.

So instead she just stood there, next to Admiral Kirk, trying to find the right words to use, words which wouldn't be heard as an insult if she was wrong or if the 23rd century was no more enlightened about these sorts of things.

And then Dr. McCoy walked in and, casual as you please, said, "Jim, where the devil has your husband run off to?"

Husband. He said the word so easily, like it was - normal. Like it was safe and accepted, for a man, an admiral, even, to be gay. He didn't even glance at Gillian as he said it, never even seemed to consider that someone might react poorly. Maybe no-one ever did, in the 23rd century.

Everything sort of faded out of focus for Gillian, after that. She didn't hear another peep until McCoy, concerned, put his hand on her shoulder, and asked if she was alright.

She just smiled in response and told him that, yes, she was doing very well.

Because if Admiral Kirk could have a husband... that meant that she could have a wife.

Oh yes, she thought she'd be quite happy in the 23rd century.

Here's my piece for the @mcspirkevents Big Bang! I was paired with the excellent @twinkboimler and their fic Jim Kirk's Guide to Delivering the Goods, which you can find here (E, AOS McSpirk, 60k)

Summer just started, and Jim is bored out of his mind. The courses he needs to take aren’t being offered until the second half of the summer, so he has an entire month to bother his roommate Bones. At Bones’ suggestion to get a job, Jim fixes up a motorbike and starts making deliveries to people in town, including a cute Vulcan professor named Spock. But when Jim is beaten up while making a delivery, it’s Spock who delivers Jim back to the apartment he shares with Bones. After the meet-cute from hell, Spock and Bones start dating… and so do Jim and Spock. With neither roommate aware they’re both dating the same man, there’s only so long that things can go well for them before the other shoe finally drops.

My newest star trek head cannon:

After Amok Time, cis male Jim left the scars instead of letting Bones get rid of them because #MemoriesWithSpock, and is completely oblivious to the implications of it resembling top surgery scars. Like he knows what top surgery is, is 100% for it and loves that his crewmen can get surgery to better feel like themselves and can pick to keep the scars for Symbolism or Reminders of Personal Journey, but man he does not realize that's what his scars also look like. I mean those are his Spock scars.

Anyways, one day he's on leave and in like a hot tub with some new people of a different species who don't quite know he his, like yeah because of his career they've heard the name "James Kirk" but more than that??? And they see his scars and are asking about earth humans transition and he's answering questions oblivious to the fact that they think he's answering from first hand accounts. Eventually one of them asks about HIS transition in particular because he's always been talking about other people and another one hits the first alien Like, "dude it's personal!!" And Jim's like, "it's fine." And talks about his promotion to rear admiral confusing them.

Finally the one who initially asked about his experience asks about his scars directly and Jim's like, "Oh my partner gave them to me!"

Leading to, "You're partner is a surgeon? Who performed your top surgery? That is ethical on your planet?"

And Jim's like, "top surgery? No this is from pon farr."

And says even gayer shit than they were expecting as he explains how Spock did it in a murderous blood rush because he didn't fuck.
