while i'm posting my unpopular fandom takes, allow me one more: there is no characteristic, acquired or innate, that makes you an inherently better writer or more insightful and enlightened person.
i promise you that there are high school dropouts writing the most beautiful fic you've read in your life, and there are people with phds who couldn't string together a coherent sentence if their life depended on it.
there's absolutely stunning fic written by teenagers, and there are fics by the much-lauded ~middle-aged secretaries from ten things i hate about you~ that suck donkey hole.
you've loved something written by someone living in their car and hated something written by someone in whatever you think the best living situation in the coolest city is.
someone's life doesn't have to look like yours for them to have skills in things that you value. for all that fandom claims to love representation and diversity, people are weirdly keen to believe that actually, it's people like them, specifically, who Create The Best. and that's bullshit.

Kim Kitsuragi fanarts/fanworks from hit game Disco Elysium, choose your mischaracterisation‼️
-the babysitter
-the blatant racist caricatures:
•Jaundice
•Kitsuragi-Sama (aka your average wise old Japanese guy in Western medias that low key hates you, often associated with gooner art )
•The Racist caricature™️ from your local newspaper
-Jules Pidieu in Kim’s clothing
-eyebrow lifting, eye lifting, jaw shave, botox, buccal fat removal, hairline lowering
-mewing
-Ken Kitsuragi or a random white man in his 20s
For visual here is a chart made by yours truly

I love the de fandom but sometimes it feels like a prison

let's kill the idea that someone's opinion, knowledge, or lived experience is more or less valuable based on how old they are, yeah?

So hard for me to remember Killing Eve with anything approaching fondness when all I can recall is the absolutely garbage racist fandom and writers and how they all let a powerhouse, talented and established actress like Sandra Oh down.
They underwrote Eve's character, did not have any diaspora Asian sensitivity guides to write Eve Polastri's identity to be as meaningful to her as Villanelle's past in Russia was to the latter, they didn't know the basics of Asian identity (something as stereotypically familiar as removing shoes when you enter the house; Sandra had to clue it in for them) they gave Villanelle multiple backstory episodes and could even afford some episodes for Carolyn and Konstantin's tragic love, while the titular character was paid dust. And everything about Eve became a celebration of Villanelle's fetish for older women with curly hair. Villanelle was allowed to eye fuck (or actually fuck) other women and be a "real dyke" (actual words I saw here). She was celebrated as the classic quirky lesbian with mommy issues, while Eve could not even look at a single other woman without Sandra Oh getting racial slurs thrown at her on Twitter and Instagram, and even here on Tumblr. Eve could not do a single morally grey thing without being shouted at for being a cold stereotypically racialized ice queen bitch, while Villanelle had to be the poor innocent baby who needed protection and coddling by the narrative and the writers.
When s4 became utter garbage, white women began mass rallying for Villanelle and building altars around Europe and USA, while Sandra Oh received hate for apparently green-flagging the bad ending and "queerbaiting" lesbian audiences. On the other hand, Jodie Comer is a sweet puppy sapphic icon who deserves to be coddled and venerated into honorary queer icon status.
Meanwhile, every minor female character of color was written out, mistreated and treated as second place fodder to Villanelle throughout all four seasons, while we just had to shut up and not complain about it. It was giving liberal feminist outrage over Daenerys getting shish kabob'd while the Dornish and Dothraki women were written into humiliating, vilifying plotlines for several seasons straight. It was giving white women crying over Margot Robbie not getting nominated for an Oscar for Barbie and writing theses about how "to be a female artist is to rage against injustice". My point being that whatever value Killing Eve could've possibly held for me was undone by the violent racism, anti-Asian rhetoric, speculative gossip and ageism that white sapphics and other white female fans of Jodie Comer demonstrated towards Sandra Oh. I'm actually glad your fave got shish kabob'd too.

feygaleh saying she appreciated the anon support of her…lmao her anon buds basically called me a hysterical woman pedophile 😂 that was their defense of her.
just heartwarming.
that’s a lot worse than calling out a post she reblogged SHOWING WITH SOURCES THAT THE RHETORIC WAS FROM THE KLAN lmao.
if i was just accusing someone baselessly, i would not have provided sources they didn’t even read. if you’d read them btw? you’d know more about that rhetoric and how to avoid supporting it.
(also david duke verbally supports palestine with the same rhetoric feygaleh does, sooooo lmao oops)
calling jews pedophiles though? please. 😂😂
i said something to her originally bc i wanted to see if she would continue that pro pally fake ass victim shit or if she was a complex human who would a. answer questions and/or b. realize the extremely problematic shit she supported by reblogging. (like reblogging posts by an account named after a group that tortured and murdered holocaust survivors at munich in 1972. aka blackseptember72. screenshotted that fun moment)
this has been a truly unsurprising social experiment.
(i also highly doubt my followers were dogpiling her but okayyyyy lmao)
i do just want to thank @feygaleh for proving that everything i ever thought about the majority of antizionists was correct. i appreciate it 💙
am i done trying to tell you what fucked up shit you support and what hypocrisy you reblog? yes. and not because of the anon hate (i get hate no matter what i post here so who cares). because my point was proven :)
that’s all you did when you sent followers to my inbox to call me a pedophile and cried the victim after you were reblogging posts about me in november (got screenshots of that toooo): proved my point.

oh god stop whining about getting older. do yall realize how lucky you are? how lucky you are to have made it this far, to have survived everything life throws at you, to live in a world that others have worked so fucking hard on to make sure you have the best possible chance at survival. our ancestors did all this to ensure the world you inherit is better, easier, kinder, softer than the one they did. stop shitting out the self-deprecating “jokes” about getting old (they do not land the way you think they do. it’s just awkward), stop saying you’re “thirty-five years young, stop claiming your life is over because you’re no longer in your twenties. do you know how many people would do anything to be where life is set up to help you succeed, survive, savor? do you know how many people died before they turned twenty-one when all they wanted was to live? to cook their favorite recipe again, to hug their best friend again, to watch the sun sink below the horizon again knowing that, in just a few hours, it will rise and they’ll be there to watch it paint the sky and prompt birds to sing. how dare you take for granted what the people who died too soon would have given anything to experience even once more. how dare you whine about wrinkles and grey hair and stiff, creaky knees when others have no voice with which to speak from beyond the grave, let alone callused fingertips to pet a dog, play a piano, peel a banana. how dare you whine about sagging tits and blurry vision and crow’s feet when you’re still alive to hear your next favorite song, to read your next favorite book, to meet your next favorite person, to eat your next favorite dessert. it is not a bad thing to age. it is not a bad thing to no longer be young or look youthful. your body has done the very thing it is meant to. treat it—treat yourself—with the respect you and your body both deserve.

Canon says Thrawn was born around 59BBY.
The Mandalorian timeline started about nine years later, plus Filoni said it's had time jumps, so call it 12 years after Yavin. Thrawn is in his 70s, was around 60 when space whaled, 45ish when he joined the Empire.
When 70 years old you are, look as good you will not.

Re-reading Valley of the Dolls for the first time in years was a bit of a shock to the system because the fatphobia and ageism are rampant and uncomfortable, but I was fine with how often they used 'fag' as a descriptor of any queer they talked about, with the one exception being when Neely yells the accusation at Ted.
Like, it's just a descriptor. Costume designers? Fags. Musical directors? Fags. Dancers? Fags. Like, it's used in the derogatory AGAINST Helen Lawson (can't get anyone but a fag to take her to dinner) but it's not really used as a judgement ABOUT the fags.
(Sidenote: The way Helen Lawson's major storyline ends in the book fucking sucks; the movie did it better having her walk out the front door of the restaurant after her wig got destroyed.)
And when Neely yells it at Ted, you're not supposed to be like "Yeah, Neely! You tell him!"
Does it meet modern standards of how we talk about people? Fuck no. But the fatphobia and ageism all over that book (and look, there is a point where it's saying something about being an actor and then there's clearly some shit Jacqueline needed to deal with from an internal POV) aren't really that far off from the shit we're still battling today.
Like, if you heard that a boozed up, stoned out actor called her husband a fag when she caught him cheating, would you try and defend that? No. But also, like, I see why us queers took this book into our hearts. It's theatrical and melodramatic and fag is a descriptor, not an insult.

seeing all this furor over Biden just reminds me that the entire cardiology wing of the hospital closest to the white house is named after Dick Cheney (GWB's vp) because he was literally a heartbeat away from death for the entire eight years and somehow that was fine

30 is young. so is 40. ya'll should learn that one can be both "young" and a grown tax-paying adult at the same time. 50-60 is middle-aged if we consider the human lifespan to ideally be 100 years. 70+ is old men yaoi. all is true for women too, btw.
you guys gotta stop shipping 30-year-old men and calling it old man yaoi. 30 is really not that old. thats just man yaoi

Job hunt woes: A question:
Boomers complain Millenials were lazy and didn't want to work so all they allowed us as new grads with the degrees they insisted we have was temporary contract jobs unless we knew ( were related ) to those already in the company.
Yet they told us we could do anything with the college degrees they now call useless?
So those of us who took on the temporary or contract jobs to get our feet in the door but were never actually hired so not to give us benefits... have never worked a day in our lives...
Even though the longest time spent without a contract for some of us...was indeed Covid and the choice to either put our families at risk or take on the admin temp jobs that only opened and stayed during Covid with the full time hires being allowed to stay home and we the temps were expected in office full time during the pandemic...
And so basically temporary youthful workers were seen as expendable and the second the quarantine ended the older "seasoned" workers returned to resume their old places and kicked us out.
Because... we didn't work at the job long enough...?
Are you confused by this "logic" Yet because God knows I surely am.
I need a cinnamon roll this is ludicrous.
