The way people demonize seagulls is actually unreal. Almost all of their natural habitat has been destroyed (almost all coastal areas have been developed, destroying natural sand dune ecosystems) and they're doing their best to adapt. I remember discussing Tintin casting choices with a friend from Germany and remarked how it was odd he often has an English accent in adaptations rather than a Belgian one, and my friend just replied "that's because Tintin gives incredibly strong English boy energy (derogatory)"

Here in the UK there's a lot of weird classism tied into accents. Today accent diversity and representation in broadcasting is actively pursued but in Tintin's time there certainly was a preferred accent to have.

The media framed this as a tragedy, an unimaginable act, a heinous crime. We should grieve for the family left behind. All lives are precious, and murder is never okay.

The police have publicized their manhunt for the assassin. They update us every hour on how much closer they're getting, which isn't close at all.

Insurance companies are taking down their executive staff webpages and beefing up security. They know that they're no longer safe, and are hiring more protection.

The assassin took out this man like a professional, quickly fixing his gun when it jammed, executing an execution perfectly, then disappearing, leaving behind only a backpack full of Monopoly money, a few smolders on security cams, and bullet casings with the words "Deny", "Defend", and "Depose" written on them, echoing the "Deny, Delay, Defend" tactics taken by health insurance companies to refuse coverage.

Every single social media post I have seen, regardless of platform, has been supportive of the assassin. There has been no sympathy for the CEO, or his wife or children. We are not buying into the narrative the police and the media are trying to peddle. We are the ones who have had to deal with the bullshit health insurance and other corporations have been foisting on us for decades. And we've had enough.

We will not grieve. If anything, we encourage, and wait for the next CEO to be capped. We're not the ones in danger. The rich are the ones who have fought so hard for Americans to have easy access to guns and nothing else. For decades we have pleaded for gun control, to save children from getting mowed down by machine guns in their schools. For decades we have pleaded for a more humane healthcare system where people do not go into medical debt just in order to keep living.

The answer from the rich and powerful has been that life is not and never will be fair, and to be happy with the dogshit served to us.

Our answer now is equally and reflectively callous. We will not mourn a single dead CEO until we have some means of addressing our grievances that doesn't come from the muzzle of a gun.

The rich of today had better read up on the French Revolution and make some changes very quickly, or history will repeat itself.

If I think for more than five minutes about how much Esteban loved his team I'll go insane. 'Allez Alpine. He was the only driver to introduce himself to all the staff at the factory. He was finishing p19/p20 for the first few races of this season and he never complained he never said a word against them instead praising and encouraging them all. Last year in Silverstone he wore a special helmet to celebrate the team; it had the names of all the staff at Alpine working on the car in both Viry and Enstone. He was going to see all those people in person the week after the race at the factories to say goodbye to them personally. He was going to wear a helmet celebrating everything they achieved together. I know y'all are not ready for it, but I'm this close 🤏 to hc Bruce having an eating disorder because of how strict Alfred is written about food in canon and fanon. Everyone is writing it as if it's a funny joke that the Batfam has to hide "unhealthy" snacks from him, but it's not. (Btw, just the "healthy" and "unhealthy" label are wrong and bad. Food is food.)

In the comics, Bruce will be offered a donut and think about how Alfred would disapprove and how it will harm his health, before accepting. And, sure, to live the life he lives, Bruce need to follow a particular diet. But it's just ONE donut, it cannot harm him. That's not a healthy mindset at all. The fact that Bruce, as a grown adult with kids, is thinking about Alfred's reaction to him eating a donut before accepting, vocalizing how it is against the rules, is alarming.

And maybe I would accept it, as a non-usamerican, if it was because of the toxic things they put in your food there (criminal what they make you eat), but it's never about that. No, it's about the calories and the heartburn, and "fast food and sugar" are bad, and "poor people food is bad" (Alfred's classicism is another point for another time). Alfred controls what the Wayne eat and he is very controlling about that, as the boys will also comment about Alfred disapproving something before eating it. This is some ED behavior, you shouldn't worry about food like this. And like, I'm split between being thankful neither Bruce or the kids enforce it to one another, but also being annoyed they need to remind others how "Alfred wouldn't approve" when they see them eating something not allowed.

Thinking about Dick and his cereals, especially that Nightwing (2016) page where he gets a Nightwing truck and it has a compartiment with a ton of cereals. It is a commun behavior in children who were restricted some type of food to over indulge in it once they are independent. If cereals were something Alfred was against because he finds it "unhealthy", Dick's extreme love for cereals is a red flag.
