i love playing a human in dnd, partly because i think it's funny to be the only one in the party without dark vision but mostly because i am forever chasing the high i felt when i got together with four friends to run a short campaign and introduced my Tall Buff Conventionally Handsome Human Fighter and then discovered that all of my friends, independent of one another, had made halflings. all of whom immediately adopted my character as their Weird Tall Mascot. ideal party comp. could not have loved it more. commiserations to our dm who i think had written a fairly serious campaign and then had to improvise given that the tone was Not Going To Be Anything But Comedic From That Point Forward
#honestly the moment when like. the third person said 'well i am.... also playing a halfling"#is a high point that will be. difficult to reach again#dnd#also my usual character is inspired by my Trevelyan from dragon age inquisition so.#if you are familiar with the Very Silly body type the male human player characters have in that game. you understand#it was like. if a slightly fruitier chris evans as captain america. was in a party with all hobbits. so deeply delightful

Over the last week, I decided to go ahead with bookmarking all the fics I've recommended over the years on AO3 since I abide by tumblr poll results always (and man pour one out for all the fic that never made it to AO3 or has since been deleted, sooooo many gems lost to time!) and it was a bit more than the ~3,000 I was expecting:

Hopefully, this will be easier than browsing the hundreds of recs posts I've made, since you can filter for any of the author's tags now! These are mostly focused on Star Wars and DC fandom, but I did my time in the anime mines and occasional tours through some TV fandoms or movies. You can dig into everything unfiltered and start your own filtering, or the bigger fandoms you'll find:
MAJOR FANDOMS: Each of these should have 100+ at minimum and, in the case of Star Wars, literally almost half of them are in that fandom. Look, Star Wars fandom might be a trash fire in a lot of ways, but it is ON FIRE with some good fic. (Older bookmarks not guaranteed to match my current sentiments, especially re: the Jedi, but they did catch my fancy at that point in time!)
STAR WARS: - All Star Wars -OR- All Star Wars minus the Obi-Wan/Anakin ship - OR- Nothing BUT Obi-Wan/Anakin
BATMAN/DC: - DC can sometimes be tricky, but you can do a Batman* search and get most of them (though, sometimes Nightwing* or Young Justice* or Superman* will catch some of the others). Honestly, though, you might want to just do a search for what character or dynamic you like and have fun from there, because otherwise you're getting a face full of my Dick Grayson Is The Center Of The Universe And I'm Making That Everyone Else's Problem agenda. ;)
MARVEL/MCU: - Marvel* will probably get most of the various properties, though you may want to filter for Defenders* or Guardians of the Galaxy* if you're interested -OR- Marvel* without the Thor/Loki - These focus a lot on the Thor* fandom if you want to witness the results of like 8 years of constant voracious reading in that fandom (Minus the ship), because, seriously, I read a LOT of Odinson family fic. - Bonus, just do a search for Maximoff* to find some really good X-Men: First Class-verse because, listen, I have been ALL ABOUT the Maximoff twins since long before the movies or MCU brought them over and I will DIE ON THE HILL of "Marvel, make Magneto their bio-dad again or I'm never reading another comic of yours ever".
TOLKIEN/LORD OF THE RINGS/SILMARILLION/HOBBIT: - Tolkien* -OR- Hobbit* -OR- Lord of the Rings* searches will turn up most of my Elf-hunting, I primarily focus on the Sindar Elves, but look I can't resist my problematic Feanorian faves or that I will die on the hill that Fingolfin is the best ever. (You have NO IDEA how sad I am that so much fic on Stories of Arda or FFNET is not easily bookmarked on AO3, sob. I externally bookmarked a few of the bigger ones, but sooo many shorter faves are missing from my recs tag.)
CLAMP: - X/Tokyo Babylon legitimately bums me out because it's not a huge fandom and yet so much of what was written was pre-AO3 and lost when CLAMPesque went down or was never brought over from Livejournal, yet this fandom (well, the Seishirou/Subaru pairing) still burns brightly in my heart.
MINOR FANDOMS: Ones that probably only have under 100 bookmarks (often around the 20-30 bookmarks range), but will at least give you a place to start! ANIME/MANGA: Bleach | Cardcaptor Sakura | Dragonball | Finder no Hyouteki/Viewfinder | Katekyou Hitman Reborn! | Kuroko no Basuke | One Piece | Sailor Moon | Madoka Magica | Naruto | Princess Tutu | Trigun | Weiss Kreuz | Yuri!!! on Ice
BOOKS: Chrestomanci | Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint
DRAMAS: Nirvana in Fire | The Untamed -OR- Modao Zu Shi
TV SHOWS/MOVIES: Community | Game of Thrones -OR- ASOIAF | Good Omens | Hannibal | Highlander | The Old Guard | Our Flag Means Death | Stranger Things
VIDEO GAMES: Dragon Age: Inquisition | Final Fantasy 8 | Genshin Impact | Okami
BANDS: Arashi
All right, whew, that was actually a fun project, despite how much work it was to hunt down a lot of older faves to see if they were on AO3, hopefully you'll find this useful!

Excerpts about JRR Tolkien from the Diaries of Warren Lewis, elder brother of C. S. Lewis
(hbd tolkien!) None of that in the reddit link is my work. I merely discovered the link dated 7 years ago, and I beseech you, if you have yet to, this deserves a read.
https://www.reddit.com/r/tolkienfans/comments/7m3eb6/excerpts_about_jrr_tolkien_from_the_diaries_of/
J as Jack, C. S. Lewis; Tollers as Tolkien and the rest is pretty self-explanatory as the entries evolve.
/ (my thoughts ↡) /
because oh lord this has had me inquisitive and prying at the beginning, laughing out loud in the middle nodding in vehement agreement as the Inklings go through the Hobbit and the Rings. (Referring to Sam as Frodo's squire is now truly my favourite of Sam's titles). But there are tears at the end.
Tolkien takes off his hat to a deer on a walk and says "hail fallow well met; JRR goes from Tolkien to Ronald to Tollers, and Warren, with his brother, expresses their hidden indignation at new people inviting themselves into the Inklings (just as we all do in modern society). Warren then proclaims his love for the Sam-Frodo-Gollum passages of LotR, the anticipation of Tollers' LotR public reception and how he likes "the dwarf Gimli" and Sam Gamgee the most.
Then comes the souring of C. S. Lewis and Tolkien's friendship; J passes, they all age, and one day there's this passing remark on Tolkien's book sales to which his introspection admits, "I felt a swift and unworthy pang of envy that his success should have so far exceeded anything that ever came J’s way"—regrettably I do agree, in their legacies books on faith are seldom as marketed in today's economy.
It feels so surreal, reading his entries as time evolves and shapes; the asides of Tolkien in his diaries even as circumstance eventually drifts bonds apart: Tolkien yet remaining "Tollers". Last entry. Mrs Tolkien passes in November 1971, and he mentions Tollers once more: through his daughter to his address though, since fame and distance has made his abode unknown to the Lewises once more. Regardless, great warmth and care lingers, in their thoughts.
C. S. Lewis passed in 1963. Warren Lewis passed in April, 1973. Tolkien shortly after, in September of the same year.

"Dragon Age has gone woke! Dragon Age: Veilguard looks too goofy to be Dragon Age!"
My brother in Christ, Dragon Age had bisexual romances in 2009 even after Fox News freaked out about the lesbian sex scene in Mass Effect. The series also had a trans character in 2014 in which the fandom's biggest critique of that character was that he was not voiced by a transman. Dragon Age has been "woke" and that's how a majority of the fandom likes it. It's 2024. Grow up.
As for goofiness, in Origins... not only is some of the companion banter goofy as hell, but you can find two dead hobbits with a note that says, "Should have taken the eagles." There's also an easter egg reference to Superman in which a farmer and his wife find a baby in a meteor crater and decide to raise him. Both instances do not affect your game whatsoever. They are just there to be jokes.
Also, in DA2 Hawke "stepped in the poopy" and there's kind of a DLC that is just the elf Felicia Day DLC. The Mark of the Assassin is so not serious. Ofc, there's goofy companion banter. That's for all the games, frankly.
And then there's Inquisition. The beginning of Trespasser is goofy as hell. Varric is giving out keys to Kirkwall's harbor. Sera's pranking everyone. Random weddings are happening. Small wheels of cheese are being placed on eyelids in a spa bc it's in fashion in Orlais. Whoever is the Divine has to wear the stupid lady pope outfit. Josephine takes you to the worst opera, apparently. And the rest of the DLC still has a lot of dark/serious things going on.
In the main game, during the siege of Adamant, you can find a note on a payload that says, "Stick this up your taint." There's the dude who threw a goat at Skyhold. Varric writes smut based off of Aveline from DA2 for Cassandra.
Do I think Veilguard is going to be amazing? Probably not. There were mass layoffs and it took ten years to produce. We're not looking at another BG3. I'm not delusional, but I do think a lot of critiques are coming from people who are casual Dragon Age players who probably haven't touched any of these games (or even thought about Thedas) since 2014.
I'm all for being critical and worried about how this game is going to turn out, but let's not be disingenuous. A black Grey Warden (the first black romanceable companion character in all four games) and a bit of humor in a trailer aren't genuine critiques. C'mon guys.
#dragon age#dragon age veilguard#i've been in this fandom forever and i am tired#edited to fix a typo: davrin is the first ROMANCEABLE black companion not just the first bc we stan viv in this household

20 Questions for Fic Writers!
thank you for the tag @vespaer77!! no pressure low stakes tags: @xxnashiraxx @roguishcat @spooky-lil-bee @sorceresssundries
1) How many works do you have on AO3?
Eleven! So many!
2) What’s your total AO3 word count? 46,400
3) What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Instinct (Halsin/Tav NSFW) My first entry into HalsinTavWeek 2024! Aww can't believe it's nearly been a year! Scent Mark (Halsin/Tav NSFW) To be honest, they are all for the 2024 Halsin Tav Week lmao Afforded A Chance (Halsin/Tav NSFW) Something sweet. And smutty. Colossus (Halsin/Tav NSFW) Size kink + getting high. Need I say more? The Faithwarden and the Archdruid (Halsin/Tav NSFW) Misunderstanding that ends in yummy yummy smut.
4) What fandoms do you write for?
Ohhh boy let me see. Baldurs Gate 3, Palia, Dragon Age (Inquisition and Veilguard but I hope to write some for DAO and DA2), MCU, Lord of the Rings/Hobbit/Silmarillion, The Tawny Man Trilogy, I even wrote a couple for The Labyrinth lol.
5) Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
I try to! That said I sometimes make a mental note to respond and then three months later I'm like...oops? And then it's been so long and I agonize over responding or not. Sometimes I do, sometimes I just send my mental appreciation and carry on. I do deeply appreciate each comment tho and often revisit them when my brain weasels are playing field hockey with my self esteem as a writer.
6) What’s the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
I haven't published any of them actually! I have quite a few in my drafts though. There's a version of an ending for Dream in Red (my Durge/Tav long fic) that's probably the saddest.
7) What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Most of my fics end with a happy ending (😏) That said, The Faithwarden and the Archdruid, Cuckoo for Cuckhold, and Pumpkin Spiced Larceny all had endings that I really liked.
8) Do you get hate on fics?
No [aggressively knocks on wood] everyone who comments has been very sweet. Love the BG3 fandom.
9) Do you write smut?
10) Do you write crossovers?
Technically no but there has been a BG3/DA crossover concept of Shadowheart landing in Thedas that's been rotating in my brain rotisserie style for a while and still hasn't limped off in defeat so maybe this year! Who knows! Certainly not me!
11) Have you ever had a fic stolen?
I doubt it. If I have I don't know about it.
12) Have you ever had a fic translated?
I don't think so but that would be extremely cool.
13) Have you ever cowritten a fic before?
Yes many times! (Not recently though)
14) What’s your all-time favorite ship?
Solavellan. Hands down.
15) What’s the WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
Gods, can't I say all of them? It feels like all of them these days. The brain just doesn't want to brain. Published WIP-wise it has to be Gold Rush. Now that I'm back to playing Palia maybe inspiration will strike and I can get going on that again.
16) What are your writing strengths?
I've been complimented on my writing style, variations on "phrases you use/beautiful way of saying things" so I suppose that? I really don't know. Idk what I'm doing.
17) What are your writing weaknesses?
Getting distracted before I finish something and never going back to it? Impatience with editing and, thus, publishing before I probably should. Hasty. Hasty to write, hasty to publish. lol
18) Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in a fic?
As a reader I love it. I think it's neat and helps immerse me in the world. As a writer I worry constantly if I'm doing it "right" (fiction language like elvhen) or grammatically correct (for real world languages I'm not fluent in).
19) First fandom you wrote for?
Lord of the Rings. Yeah buddy.
20) Favorite fic you’ve ever written?
As yet unfinished and unpublished favorites are: Dream in Red my Durge/Tav long fic or [Untitled Document] my Solavellan long fic. Favorite Published/Completed works would be: This funny little Tavphael Christmas fic Pumpkin Spiced Larceny (Gen, tadfoolery) Temptation (Tavphael NSFW) Midnight Snack (Gale x Tav NSFW)
So long and thanks for all the fish!

I know a lot of people shit on the Dawn Will Come scene in Inquisition, but I love it for two reasons:
1. I love the "community is struggling but refuses to give up and they all realize they're in it together when one person starts singing and everybody slowly joins in" trope.
My favorite other examples of this are the dwarves in The Hobbit and the miners in Pride (2014).
2. It shows just how entrenched the world is in Chantry teachings. Only 1-3 in that camp are not clearly Andrastian: Solas, Cole, and the Herald / Inquisitor (Solas isn't, we don't know about Cole, and Inky depends on how you play them). This scene only serves to reaffirm a faithful Inquisitor or to show just how swallowed up and washed over a non-Andrastian Inky is. Especially since right before this, you are asked to clarify how Inky feels about the Maker and Andraste.
It's a very important scene, in my opinion.

Stories . . .
( Thorin Oakenshield x Child!Reader)
(A/N); Hello, readers!! Happy to present this fic as the sequel to "Excuses" ! I finally thought it was time!!
Pairings; Thorin x Reader (Platonic)
Plot: Thorin returns to the Shire not just to see Bilbo...
Warnings; None, cavity creating fluff
Part One
__________________________________________
It was high morning in the Shire, the sun reaching its peak and spring in full bloom. To the day, it has been 3 years since the quest to reclaim Erebor was completed and Bilbo Baggins had saw fit to return home. He never expected guests of any kind, especially after the quest business. Save for one inquisitive little Hobbit...
Thorin Oakenshield, now King Under the Mountain, had left late by the standard of years. He had intended to visit the Shire again sooner, but establishing peace in the Dwarven colonies had taken longer than first anticipated. He had left from Erebor weeks ago, leaving Fili in charge of the runnings. The young Dwarf had done much to impress his uncle in the quest for Erebor and Thorin had no doubt that the kingdom would run smoothly in his absence with Fili in charge. Yet now, he needed some days of peace, away from home. He had seen much, too much, of war and politics in the last few years. His people were finally at peace, helping rebuild homes of their own and that of the people of Laketown. Thorin, with great difficulty, had also established good relations with Thranduil, King of the Woodland Realm. There was peace, a hard-earned peace. And finally, he could rest.
With a smile, he pulled encouragingly at the reins of his pony. "Come on", he murmured. "We're here now". The grasses and trees of the forest had at last pulled away, to reveal stone and dirt paths into the small Shire city of Hobbiton. Ever prosperous and oblivious to such things beyond their borders, there was an element of serenity that allowed Thorin to sigh and relax at last. Of course, the Padfoot— no. Padfeet family were not impressed with the new face entering their domain. The King had come armed to the teeth with baggage for a week's stay. This was not a welcome sign to them, nor to the prudish Hobbits that also avoided him. He cared not, however. His mind was fixated on an old friend.
Thorin slipped down from the saddle of his pony, gently caressing her face. "Well done", he whispered with a grin. "And thank you". Giving the animal a well deserved pat and apple, he turned at last to the nearby Hobbit holes. He remembered after all this time which one it had been where his young friend had lived. It had been over three years since she had last seen him. Three years since she'd given him the coin which he wore as a royal pendant around his neck. A sign of luck that he'd carried with him over so many distances. He wondered if she'd forgotten him after so long? Children grow and many things end up being forgotten, after all.
His ocean orbs spied a woman that was familiar to him, tending the gardens of her home with love and care. "Fair morning to you!".
The King's greeting startled the woman at first, but her eyes lit up at the sight of the familiar Dwarf. "Mr Oakenshield!", she exclaimed, throwing aside her tools and gloves to open the gate between them. Without hesitation, she hugged the larger Dwarf. "What a welcome surprise it is to have you here!". Thorin returned the embrace with a few gentle pats to the maternal woman's back. (Y/n)'s mother was a kind individual, always fussing over others. She pulled away in a flurry, smiling in a sudden bout of excitement. "I have a person who would love to see you!".
"Where is she??". He had the eagerness alike to a father wishing to see his daughter after being away. Knowing this, the Hobbit excitedly shouted for her daughter who had gone to play in the streets. Within moments, little footsteps made their way up the path.
Before the King could turn to meet them, a smaller figure had knocked into him, attempting a tight embrace. He laughed whilst his younger counterpart happily cried out, "Mr Thorin!!".
"Look at you!!", he mused, enthusiastically lifting her from him and into the air above his head. "You're so big and tall now! I hardly recognised you!". (Y/n) giggled,
"It's also because of my teeth!". At her proclaimation, she pointed to the few gaps she had with the now adult-looking teeth.
"Most definitely". He laughed, finally holding her like he did many years ago. He even bumped her head with his own - a Dwarven custom to friends and family. One he still practiced with his nephews...
"I just knew you'd come back!". To his amusement, the smaller Hobbit grinned, grabbing at his braids and chestplate scales restlessly.
"Of course! I told you that I would try, didn't I?".
"Did you get back your home??", she pressed with the greatest curiosity.
"Yes, dear one, at great cost. I have a great many stories to share with you of my travels".
"Did you fight monsters? Did you–".
"(Y/n)! Calm down, he's only just gotten here, Love!", her mother chided with a chuckle. "My apologies, Mr Oakenshield".
"It's no trouble", he grinned allowing the small girl to bury her head into the crook of his neck.
"If you're not busy, we were just about to have Luncheon. Would you like to join us?".
"I would hardly like to impose—", he tried to politely downplay the offer.
"Of course he's staying, Mother!! He's hungry!! He's just too polite to say so!". Thorin's brows rose at (Y/n)'s interruption, finding it hard to keep back his laughter at her cheekiness.
"It looks as if I'm staying", the statement came out more like a question, but he offered a polite bow of gratitude to (Y/n)'s mother. The young Hobbit hollered for joy as the raven-haired King followed her mother into their home. Nowhere near as big as Bilbo's house in Bag End, but it was beautifully set out and open. The smells of freshly cooked food and the security of home lingered in the air. And it was that fair noon that Thorin Oakenshield truly found himself at peace, joyfully recounting the various stories of his company to (Y/n) and her mother.
The young Hobbit with her pointed ears had never listened more intently. Thorin's voice was no longer kingly in nature, but soft and playful. He let every different story be an enigma; (Y/n)'s eagerness greatly reminding him of the late nights he shared in the Blue Mountains, storytelling to his nephews. He missed those days and greatly wished that in his younger years that he had settled to have children of his own. Despite this, he was grateful for his two nephews and the young Hobbit he had befriended for life.
His gorgeous blue orbs shimmered as he told the girl of his time in Rivendell and the chase that lead them there. He told her of mountains that could move and fight! Of Goblins, Orcs and Wargs. Of Eagles and Beorn with his monstrously huge house. Of the city on the Lake and the evil Dragon who had taken his home before burning down theirs. He told her that many fought for his home in Erebor and that there had been five different armies.
"I am now King of Erebor, young one", he spoke to her gently. "It is why I have taken so long to return. And why I may not visit as much as I'd like". Her mouth fell open in wonder,
"If you're the King, are you not allowed to leave??".
"I can leave. As long as I leave my nephew, Fili, in charge. He will be King after I am gone".
"That will never happen!", (Y/n) protested to amusement, snuggling into his side. "You'll live forever and ever and I can come and visit you!".
"When you're old enough, dear one", he assured. "I pray that someday you will venture to Erebor to look upon the halls of my great home. To perhaps meet those of my house, as I have come to know yours; and be welcomed as kin".
"I will one day! I'll go to Erebor! I'll visit you, I promise!!". Thorin smiled fondly, softly rustling the (h/c) curls on the little Halfling's head. "And be welcomed as kin! Whatever that is".
"It means family, (Y/n). You, Master Baggins, my people. All of us are part of each other. You will come to understand it all one day. And I will be a proud Dwarf to see that day come".
----------------------------------------------
"Uncle!", Kili bounded into the throne room with his usual spirit. Thorin bowed his head in greeting to his second nephew. Much had changed for Kili. He had finally grown a small beard and his royal duties had increased tenfold. Alike to Fili, he had truly made the mountain King proud.
"Kili. I trust you bring good news?".
"I do", the younger Dwarf grinned. "We have guests". Thorin's brows rose, his hand lifting in approval.
"By all means, let them in!". The King found himself dumbfounded as Bilbo strayed in, however, it was not him that Thorin's eye had caught. He stood, agape at the Halfling who now followed the first into the room. Although many years had passed, his older eyes would still know her face. She grinned up at him with (e/c) eyes shining with wonder and familiarity. Kili stayed if only to watch the joy meet his uncle's eyes.
"I'm here, Mr Thorin. I kept my promise".
The End. . . .

People I'd Like to Get to Know Better
Thank you @ennysimmer and @esotheria-sims for tagging me! ❤
Last song: Kitty Sucker by Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes
Favorite color: I love anything turquoise/teal/petrol blue but in terms of clothing I own an unreasonable amount of sage/mint green shirts, so...
Last movie: The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug; Watched the whole Hobbit trilogy last weekend in preperation for our yearly LOTR rewatch!
Last book: Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
Like every year for the past five years, one of my new year's resolutions was to read more, but this time I actually managed to so! (yay, me!) I'd read and loved the HP novels as a kid/teenager, so I decided it was time for a re-read. I'm reading the books in English for the first time and so far I'm really enjoying them. Also really happy about the fact that for the first time in a long time reading doesn't feel like a chore. (University kind of does that to you, doesn't it?)
Sweet/spicy/savory: Ideally all of it. But if I had to choose probably savory?
Last googled: "Documents Logging" - found a folder in my "My Documents" folder that I had no idea what it was for. 🤷♀️
Current obsession: Dragon Age (again, but also... always?)
I finished playing Dragon Age: Inquisition this week (only took me what - a year?) and am currently fighting the urge to replay my beloved Dragon Age: Origins again. Somehow neither DA2 nor DAI managed to capture what I loved about the first game, but I did enjoy the Trespasser and the Descent DLC!
Tagging @marmiteprinter, @eulaliasims, @squeezleprime, @clouseplayssims, @helene2troie, @lilleputtu, @sterina-sims, @niamh-sims. No pressure & please feel free to ignore this of course, but since I really enjoyed reading everyone's posts I'll keep the tag trail rolling! ❤

Hiii! Beka, I need your opinion. Your newest fic got me thinking... How do you think Sam, Dean, and Cas would react if they got stuck in Middle Earth? And what's their gameplan? 💖
- Ramblin' On -
Cas looks around utterly confused by the new landscape, the fresh green hills, and the size of the doors peeking out from each. He scrunchs his nose in confusion and looks to Sam who, standing beside him just spit out of the same wormhole, seems just as confused.
"Where the hell are we?" Sam asks, looking around with an inquisitive yet cautious gaze.
The Angel shrugs as the tails of his Season 9, decidedly-worse trench coat flap in the wind.
With a whoosh, Dean emerges from the rip in space and time, landing haphazardly on the dewy grass. Immediately, he rolls and pops up to his feet, ready for action with fists raised and dirt on his jacket. It takes him but a moment to see what his companions see: a world not their own.
Dean chuckles. "Awesome."
Sam balks. "Is it? We're lost because you couldn't keep your hands out that damned cookie jar!"
With pursed lips and a waging finger, Dean turns to his little brother. "First of all- everybody wants a warm cookie. You can't blame me for that. Secondly- We're not lost." He grins and turns away, casting his eyes over the beautiful new world.
"We're not?" Sam scoffs. "Then where the hell are we?"
Dean pulls in a deep breath of fresh air. "The Shire."
Castiel hums. "The what?"
"The Shire!" Dean says again as excitement runs through his veins. He looks at his brother and angel, neither of whom seem to understand. He sighs. "The Shire! Hobbits, Gandalf... Come on, guys! Lord of The Rings!"
Sam's brow furrows deep. "I know what The Shire is," he snits. "How do you know what The Shire is?"
Annoyed but determined to enjoy their sojourn in Middle Earth, Dean brushes the dust from his sleeve and sets off down the path to the right. "If it's good enough for Zepplin, it's good enough for me!"

Top 5 Middle-earth insults?
ooh this is a fun one. “fool of a Took” is a classic one, we don’t talk about how sassy Gandalf was in fotr. but more points for “If the giving of knowledge is to be the cure of your inquisitiveness, I shall spend all the rest of my days in answering you.”
we gotta give Sam credit too bc like
‘This is what it is, Mr. Baggins,’ said the leader of the Shirriffs, a two-feather hobbit: ‘You’re arrested for Gate-breaking, and Tearing up of Rules, and Assaulting Gate-keepers, and Trespassing, and Sleeping in Shire-buildings without Leave, and Bribing Guards with Food.’
‘And what else?’ saidFrodo.
‘That’ll do to go on with,’ said the Shirriff-leader.
‘I can add some more, if you’d like it,’ said Sam. ‘Calling your Chief Names, Wishing to punch his Pimply Face, and Thinking you Shirriffs look a lot of Tom-fools.’
Jail-crow of Mandos” is great since it’s Fëanor calling satan a convict before slamming the door in his face. it’s like, everyone else may have forgiven you, but I know what you are
Saeros’ “Do they run like the deer clad only in their hair?” is up there because he burned Turin so hard he told the future
and Theoden gets a pretty fun one to, feels like a medieval middle finger: “So much for the house of Eorl. A lesser son of great sires am I, but I do not need to lick your fingers. Turn elsewhither. But I fear your voice has lost its charm.”

My ask about asks I forgot to send you.
I've seen many posts about people missing how common asks used to be so I have been trying to send about an ask a week. Now I send this ask first anytime I follow someone as I really don't want to bother anyone, so I'd love to know if you enjoy receiving asks and if so what kind of asks. Not having energy for asks or being comfortable with them is perfectly okay.
The categories I have in my ask notebook that I file under are in colour. Please feel free to make your response as long as you want or private (the asker cannot directly respond to private responses).
Self, Job/Work: please let me know what you are comfortable with from eh idk just ask it to nothing personal at all.
Baggishield/Tolkien, Dragon Age, Johnlock/Sherlock, ineffable spouses, other fandom: Please let me know what fandoms. I think my main fandoms and ships are Bagginshield/The Hobbit, Sherlock/Johnlock, Dragon Age Inquisition, {Pippin/Faramir Merry/Eowyn}/The Lord of the Rings and I dip my toes in a few that I currently can't remember but ships I don't engage with the canon of at all are: Good Omens but only for Crowley/Azirapheal, Stranger Things but only for Steve/Eddie , The Witcher but only for Geralt/Jaskier.
OC's you want to talk about
art/drawing do you draw and like to get asks about it?
your writing
blog specific only is your blog specific to a fandom or something that you only want asks about related things
Story snippets ideas and prompts: Do you like receiving them?
Pets: I'd love to know all about them
Garden and Hobbies: What type of gardening and/or hobbies?
Like being tagged in things: If so what kinds of things?
*Asks are sent for fun, no pressure to answer.
Hi there!!
I'm sorry this took me so long to answer - I know there's no pressure (which I appreciate immensely!) but I really want to answer them, I'm just super slow!
Self, Job/Work: Honestly I'm super happy to talk about anything like this! With all my social links on my pinned posts it wouldn't be too difficult to find out a lot of stuff about me and my life anyway! Baggishield/Tolkien, Dragon Age, Johnlock/Sherlock, ineffable spouses, other fandom: Okay so while I enjoy all of these fandoms, and more besides, I get real single-minded about my special interests. Right now it's Bagginshield, and that's really all my brain has room for! OC's: I would genuinely loooove to talk about my OCs, so very much! As I said above, bagginshield is really my main focus right now, but I have two half-written original novels that I really hope to pluck up the courage to share one day. Honestly I would love so much to have the opportunity to talk about them more here, but I know there's not a lot of interest. Folks are here for the bagginshield stuff, and that's totally fair! But, I'm going to write these stories either way and I really would love any excuse to gush about them and my OCs! art/drawing: I don't draw, I'm afraid! I wish I did, I'm always in so much awe of people who have that skill! I paint a bit, but not often and just for fun, and it's always some weird abstract stuff, haha! your writing: Love to talk about writing! It's all that keeps me going some days, and any excuse to chat about what I'm doing, what I'm planning, ro even giving advice to other writers is just so much fun to me! blog specific only: Nah, this blog is a mish-mash of everything! Happy to talk about whatever! Pets: So I have a dog! His name is Wilfred, and he was a rescue! He's my boon companion, and I love any excuse to show him off, haha! Garden and Hobbies: So I do garden, but I'm new to it! I never had a garden before until about 3 years ago, and it's been super fun to learn as I go! Other hobbies are funny, because I do a bit of everything. I'm fairly crafty so I've done pottery, sewing, jewellery making, painting as I mentioned, a bit of knitting, etc. I also used to have my own small business, running a perfumery, so I've made all sorts of bathing products, soaps, bath salts, candles, etc! Like being tagged in things: I do, but you may have noticed, I'm a bit slow at responding! I do try to keep on top of them and I never mind being tagged, but it ebbs and flows, for sure!
Okay, I think that's everything!!
Thank you so much for sending this! I will answer your others at some point, but my alarm has just gone off and now it's writing time, haha!
Thanks again for these lovely asks you send to people, it's really such a wonderful thing you're doing!

send me a fandom and i’ll create a plot bunny for it on the spot: LOTR? (I'm very predictable)
Ooooh, sure thing!!
name: Orvyn Widestep
age: 50s at least, appears much younger
sexuality: Unclear
job: Cartographer
love interest: N/A
5 adjectives to describe them: Adventurous, courageous, inquisitive, traveled, jack-of-all-trades
A little too tall to be a hobbit yet a little too short to be a man, Orvyn is a person who seems to step into many different worlds. He's dedicated to charting out as much of the continent as he can, regardless of the danger he may face on his way. In his adventures, he's picked up pieces of a dozen different cultures and languages... and perhaps even a few flickers of magic.
#my friends!!!#answered asks#ask game#my writing#my ocs#new oc#plot bunny#fun fact: orvyn is a medieval-age name meaning 'brave friend'. figured it worked well given idk how tolkien did his names lol#unethicallypleistocene

*Asks are sent for fun, no pressure to answer.
Oh, hi! Thanks for the message! I honestly didn't know that asks are no longer as common as they used to be. I've never been a good candidate to receive them since I don't have so many followers (I always thought you needed at least 500 to get asks lol) and I'm not much of a creator. I usually just reblog stuff that makes me happy and occasionally (like once in three years) I share a fic I wrote here so I never had high hopes which is why I was very surprised when I received this ask and it made me so happy! Seriously, you're so cool for doing this, especially when people don't expect it at all. Even though it's through social media, it requires a bit of coming out of your personal bubble and putting yourself out there and I rarely do that in my life no matter how safe the space is. So it's really cool and thank you. I received probably like 2 asks aside from this one in my whole life, but yeah, I enjoy it a lot. ^^
As for what kind of asks...
Self, Job/Work: I'm good with sharing some stuff as long as it's not something that hits too close to home, but I would probably say that's the case. Asking about how I'm doing in general and what I do and what I enjoy about it is probably fine.
Fandoms: Asks about fandoms would most definitely be my favourite. I always enjoy ranting about stuff I love with other like-minded people. I love Bagginshield, The Hobbit, LOTR (Faramir especially), Ted Lasso (and particularly royjamie), Star Wars (obikin is very close to my heart), The Walking Dead (rickyl is the goat ship of that fandom for me), and probably my favourite otps are superbat (superman/batman) and spirk (kirk/spock) so I enjoy these fandoms too. Fandoms where I have no ships but I enjoy them all the same are Mass Effect (only the original trilogy) and The Witcher (the games, I only read two books so far sadly, I ship geraskier from the show but I don't like the show otherwise). All these things are something I enjoy talking about. ^^ I also like Johnlock/Sherlock and I played the Dragon Age trilogy (but I enjoyed Origins the most and aside from the Cullen romance and meeting Alistair and Morrigan in Inquisition, I didn't enjoy that game very much).
I write fanfics sometimes. I haven't written many and it usually takes me a lot of time to finish anything, but I enjoy it. I'm happy to talk about my writing any day even if it frustrates me to no end.
Story snippets ideas and prompts: Not sure about this. I think receiving them is nice, but I wouldn't be able to do anything about them aside from talking and speculating about them. I'm not very good at writing something from a prompt, so probably no story would come of it, but if it's only discussion people seek, then I'm happy to provide! And if it turns out to be very interesting, then I'm all for taking it further!
Pets: I have lots. I'm happy to talk about them any time.
Garden and Hobbies: Not much of a garden person, I'm afraid, but I enjoy nature more than anything. I live in a very Shire-like country, which is the best thing when I want to let my imagination roam. I enjoy running (but I started only recently so I'm rubbish), reading (fantasy and romance especially), learning French, playing video games, hiking, watching movies and tv shows, and I recently started to learn how to play the Irish tin whistle.
I like being tagged in things, sure! Something funny or heartwarming is usually the best, but I love posts with random facts which are super elaborate and interesting. It can't have anything to do with politics, though, tumblr is my escapist haven. :D
I think I answered everything to the best of my ability. Sorry that it's so long! Thank you again for sending the ask! I hope you have an amazing day!

Pairing/Shippy list!
I found this on @dorianslover tumblr and wanted to do same myself!
Here's the rules: 1. List your top seven ships 2. Put all of them in order of your love for them; 7 to 1, 1 being your favorite. 3. Name their fandom. 4. Supply photos for said people. So basically it's very difficult for me to sort my ships from my least liked to favourite, so in my case it's just list of my fav ships.
7. Angbang (Sauron x Melkor, The Silmarillion) Art by Phobs
6. Adoribull (Dorian Pavus x The Iron Bull, Dragon Age: Inquisition)
5. Symbrock / Veddie (Eddie x Venom, Venom series)
4. Spacedogs (Nigel Ibanescu x Adam Raki, The Necessary Death of Charlie Countryman and Adam crossover)
3. Shassie (Shawn Spencer x Carlton Lassiter, Psych)
2. Arishawke (Garrett Hawke x Arishok, Dragon Age II)
1. Hannigram (Hannibal Lecter x Will Graham, Hannibal NBC)
Worth mentioning also: - Thorki (Thor x Loki, MCU) - Johnlock (Sherlock Holmes x John Watson, Sherlock BBC) - Nandermo (Nandor x Guillermo, What we do in the shadows) - Legolas x Gimli (The Lord of the Rings) - Drarry (Draco Malfoy x Harry Potter, Harry Potter series) - Snarry (Severus Snape x Harry Potter, Harry Potter series) - Tomarry/Voldarry (Tom Riddle/Voldemort x Harry Potter, Harry Potter series) - Science bros (Tony Stark x Bruce Banner, MCU) - Stucky (Steve Rogers x Bucky Barnes, MCU) - Cherik (Charles Xavier x Erik Lehnsherr, X-men series) - Thorinduil (Thorin x Thranduil, The Hobbit series)
I challenging to do the same: @pesky--dust, @desiderii-yaoifan, @carrythatwayt, @meganmoonlight, @destielkilledcw, @muchymozzarella, @star-motif

hi could u suggest any fanfics?? not from any specific media, im mostly just curious if there are any in particular that stuck with you (. ❛ ᴗ ❛.)
interesting question! Get ready for a bunch of random disconnected fics from my bookmarks i suppose! This is not like, an exhaustive list, and im gonna try not to link too much from one fandom lol. Anyway, have a look under the cut for my faves
All Souls Who Take Up The Sword
Dragon Age Inquisition Blackwall/Fem Lavellen Soooooo im not usually big into Blackwall, but this fic is an AU where he and Lavellen are both grey wardens forced to travel to the Orzammar deep roads to meet with the Hero of Ferelden, who is a changed person. Idk it was really interesting and an engaging character study. I loved it A Boon The Hobbit Thranduil/Reader
The reader and the Elvenking enter a wager, sex is on the table. Very hot, very sexy, i love elves. Gorgeous writing style, very evocative. By Blood BG3 Astarion/Tav I love this one. The author has such a good grasp of the characters and their voices, it honestly feels so much like a scene from the game. Thanks to a cursed treasure chest, Tav accidentally confesses her feelings to Astarion and he is a nuisance about it. Missives Dragon Age 2 Nathanial Howe/Hawke WOOF. Hawke and Nathanial meet in the deep road as in the game and then begin exchanging polite letters that slowly get less and less polite............Idk, nothing gets me like erotic mail lol. Incredible sexual tension. love it. Scheherazade Jojo's Bizarre Adventure (Part 4 in specific) Josuke Higshikata/Okuyasu Nijimaru Okay. Look. I know this one is kind of a hard sell. But it's probably the best fanfic i've ever read. Novel length, incredible combination prequel/sequel content that somehow feels like it slots perfectly into the original narrative. Josuke is struggling to recall memories from 10 years ago and when a serial killer seems to be in town, remembering them becomes essential, oh and also he might be in love with his best friend. Also one of the chapters is an RPG that you play????? its fucking insane. Please read it. In The Yellow Time of Pollen Mass Effect Andromeda Kallo Jath/Ryder Another niche one. A lot of my all time faves are niche ones. I really like Kallo and this fanfic is a really interesting exploration of like, alien sexuality and its also viscerally emotional and personal. And sexy. It does it all. I wish it was finished, but its still good as is.
And Wolves Beneath Their Seams Fallout 3 Lone Wanderer/Charon A really emotionally intense, teeth gnashing fanfic set during the main story of fallout 3. Has some really interesting perspectives on the lone wanderer's relationship with character in the game. This one makes me cry, its a lot. Do not separate them. Incredibly codependent relationship, so codependent it starts leaning toxic, but i love it.
Dirty Secret Final Fantasy 14 Emet-Selch/Warrior of Light
A really lovely exploration of the struggles there would be falling in love with the guy literally trying to end the world. Very achingly romantic and painful. Great sex stuff too. I really love this one. Fever Words Super Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair Nagito Komaeda/Reader Usually komaeda is banished to my sideblog. But i am being transparent so here he is. Great fic this one. One of the first ones in this tag on ao3 and it still hits so good. Again its the combo of smut and character exploration that I find so compelling. I come back to this one all the time. Great writing too, super easy to visualize.
Quandary & Retribution in F# Arcane Viktor/Reader Okay, i decided i would only include one Viktor fanfic which was hard because i love so many, but the narration device in this one is so clever that it stands out. Reader is a musician and Viktor's neighbor. He comes by to tell her not to play her music so loudly. Anyway, the smut plays out interspersed with musical directions and I find it utterly fascinating and so so clever. A great read. So........that's a very big list. By no means exhaustive but I hope that someone will find a fandom they know and read some of these. I love all of them dearly.
